MOLYNEUX TADPOLE UPDATE!
|
Time
Text
Alright, it is time for the Molyneux Tadpole update.
With a special edition. We will get to the big reveal in a few minutes.
Yes. Let's start with our...
Tadpoles. So this is a smaller little container, but you don't even have arms yet, you can't go out yet.
But this is a Tadpole, a small container of them.
We don't typically keep them in the big container all the time because in case something happens to the main container or one of the other containers, we have lots of other containers full of Tadpoles.
So we've got the tadpoles as a whole, and we've got this guy on the rock.
Now he's halfway between, right?
Yes, he kind of still has his tail left.
I'm not sure if you can see that too well in the video.
No, it's alright. Yeah, you can see him. But I'm going to keep him in here until his tail turns into a nub, which should be tomorrow.
Right. Also, typically what I'll do is I'll leave in a cut-up dead worm, and that attracts lots of little bugs that these guys love to eat, and sometimes they mess and I get very confused.
Where's my food? Because in a tackle form, you can't miss.
Right, right. Because there's a huge chunk of meat.
He's getting out on the rock because he's going to start to use his lungs, and then we transition him, or you transition him, To Toad Container.
To Toad Container. Let's just cover that food up.
Now Toad Container, we've got obviously some ones that are too big, the ones that we found.
These guys don't eat because I fed them like, they don't eat the little ones because I fed them like three grasshoppers yesterday or something.
Huge ones too. This guy, the reason he's so thin, the reason he's so thin is because we found him in one of our little windowsill things, where there's a window to the basement, we call it windowsill, we're not sure if that's the official name, but he'd been in there for a couple days and he's still pretty thin, even though I've given him some food, but we're going to work him up to bat like this guy.
So these little guys at the corner, most of them came from the tadpole container?
Some of them did, not all of them.
I do release the ones that come from the tadpole container.
My main goal is to make them to toads, but I think little ones like that one right there came from the tadpole container.
And we certainly do like having a good population of toads around that keeps the bugs down, right?
Yes. Alright, so these guys are doing well?
Yeah. And we have one with two reveals, I guess, right?
Yes, so yesterday we went on a hike, my dad and I. Yeah.
My mom stayed home, I think she relaxed.
And yes, she can finally relax and we're not in the house.
That's right, that's right. No, but this guy right here, we found, this is when we were coming back, so on the way up we found some squirrels.
Oh, a huge amount of chipmunks.
Some very tame chipmunks too.
Some birds, three frogs that were sitting in a puddle for no reason.
Well, I guess for a reason, but it was a very small puddle.
I don't know that frogs have a huge amount of reasons as a whole.
Well, it's probably going to dry up pretty soon, so that's why I was a bit suspicious.
And then on the way down, we were about to hit a steep part.
We found this guy.
Okay, where is he now? Right there.
Ah, yes. This guy, so cool.
Look at that camouflage!
Yeah, so when we got him, he was like gray and like pale white.
Yeah. How do you get a pale white?
A pale kind of creamy white color.
Oh no, no, no. Don't you jump out again.
That was bad last time. Wait, I just want to make sure he doesn't count.
Well, listen, so look at these little things.
Look how narrow these are. It's kind of really, really, put your finger in there just so people can see how narrow these are.
Yeah, he got through those.
Yeah. That's why we had to tape.
We put some tape on. Well, Izzy put some tape on this.
He still gets a lot of air. I promise.
He's doing okay. And yes, we had to put tape there because he just kept going out.
It's annoying. But I think we're naming him Dandelion because the one point when we were going to name him, he was like a bright yellow, but now he's more of a pale orange.
And these guys have those sponge sticky feet that can climb glass and plastic and stuff.
Earlier today, he was just kind of sitting there, up there.
Underneath, right? Yeah. It's just like hanging off the ceiling, Spider-Man style, right?
I think he was sleeping. His eyes were, like, closed.
That's too wild. So, yeah.
I mean, they weren't exactly closed, but yeah.
And then... This is a big reveal.
So, on the way down the hike, just after we caught the tree frog, we had to pass the road to get to the next part of the hike, which was going to lead us home.
And what happened was...
We saw this guy sitting right in the middle of the road.
Sunning himself, because they like the road, it gives them heat, right?
He's a little. He was moving. And then he went into the bushes, which made it hard to get.
But I still caught him. It takes three seconds to guess what this is.
Well, I know. You know, but I'm saying for the people who are watching the video.
Yeah, take a moment to guess and what do we get?
I get a guess. Three. Three.
Here we go. Go. So, he should be under the sleeve.
If you can't see him, that's a moment.
Oh, I see him! What? Where?
I see him. You can barely see him, but I'm going to lift this up.
There you go. Got yourself a nice little garter snake.
Baby, baby, baby. Can't be more than a week or two old, I'm thinking.
And even already, the tip of his tail is already, um, I forget what it's called, but he can't move it.
Immobile. Immobile, right.
I'm like, no. But my guess is it got scratched by a bird.
At first I actually thought he was a baby rattlesnake.
Yeah, because the tip of the tail was stiff, right?
And it had little divots, but my guess is the bird scratched him right there.
And that's why he has little divots.
It took me a little while to catch him, but when I did catch him it was very exciting.
And we were concerned he was going to head back to the road and get squished.
Yeah, well that's why we posted a photo of him yesterday.
Now sometimes he'll just sit on my hand.
Whenever he feels like it, other times he'll just move around everywhere.
Oh, there we go. He's actually not being too scared right now and skittish.
People are probably cringing right now seeing me just handling a steak, not being scared.
He's a cute little guy, though.
He's not going to do you any harm, I don't think.
Yeah. Someone in the comments yesterday of our video said, oh, I'm just a typical Democrat.
No offense, I guess. Yeah, but look how tiny his head is.
So we had to sort of figure out what to feed him, right?
Yeah. So a lot of websites just said...
Want to put him on me? Oh, yeah, sure.
There we go. Hey, little guy.
He might crawl up your arm. He's looking for the veins.
We named him Cascade, which is my mom's idea.
But we named him Cascade, which is my mom's idea, based off, since we found him on a hike, based off another hike that we did a few weeks ago.
Yep. I saw a hornet to name him because I thought he was a real yellow snake.
And then when I looked at photos later on the internet, because I did about half an hour of reading up about these guys, I realized that he wasn't actually that yellow compared to some other snakes.
So we ended up settling with Cascade, your idea was Zigzag, because when he moves on a flat area, he goes like...
Yeah, he's a signed winder kind of stuff, right?
Oh, you can't actually see that, it's too zoomed in, sorry.
So, this guy, they say he eats cut-up worms, pinky mice, which is a type of mice I guess you can buy for animals like this, and, oh, something else.
And fish. Fish filets. Filets, they called it, right?
Filets, fish filets, and just little fish.
I think it was McDonald's food at that point, but I don't know if that's for him.
Filet-o fish. But we also saw this on the website.
It had a lot of information about these guys.
And they said they can eat ants, crickets, I'm sure small grasshoppers would be okay too, but I'm not experimenting.
Fish, mice, worms, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
I actually forget some of the other items when I think I saved the website so I can check.
But that's also because they partly live...
I think that's because they live all over, pretty much everywhere except for Hawaii and the Arctic.
Yes. Is that him there?
Where? That's his head there, right? Yep, that's his head right there.
Okay, coming out. All right. There you go.
Beautiful. And we put the leaves in because when you sort of rescue an animal, they get pretty stressed.
Well, that's what he was hiding. The first thing they want to do is hide.
So we got the leaves so he could hide and relax.
He really likes it there. Yeah, and he's doing well for sure, right?
Yeah. Has he eaten much yet?
No, but he pooped on me yesterday.
So I think they say he eats twice a week.
Yeah, yeah. So if he pooped yesterday, then he's probably pretty full right now.
Right, right. So very cool.
He's a very cute little guy. His name is Cascade, new member of the family.
We call him Cassie for short.
Cassie, yeah, yeah, that's right.
And we haven't introduced him to any of the other animals yet because we're not sure exactly what they're going to do.
No, no, we're not sure about the blended ecosystem of our various critters.
I put the tree frog in here before.
I put the snake in just because the tree frog really liked it.
But I'm going to get him a bigger container too because I know the tree frogs love jumping.
So there's our update. If you have any tips or tricks, let us know what you think.
And thanks so much for watching. We hope you guys have a great day.
Also, if you have any good websites, link somewhere.
Yeah, put them in the comments. In the comments or whatever.
