Time Text
yo yes yes yes Can you hear me? Stefan Molyneux from Free Domain.
Ooh. Where's our audio here?
I don't know. Let's see.
What do we got going on here?
I don't want to toggle timestamps.
I don't want to end the stream.
I just want people to hear.
All right. Can you guys see me?
Hello? Hello?
Can you hear me? What the hell was that?
I don't know what happened, man. I don't know.
Can you guys hear me okay? Just type.
Type if you can. Let me know.
Audio coming through? Yay.
Hello. Yes, you can.
Woo! Hello, FOTAR2002 and Erwin Leonardo.
That was epic. Best debate ever.
Well, thank you. Thank you.
And I guess I don't need the earpiece.
I appreciate that.
Very, very kind. And I hope you guys are having a great Friday evening.
It was a lot of fun. I got to tell you, it was a lot of fun.
And, you know, I'm always kind of curious how nice I'm supposed to be because, you know, I am a pretty nice guy.
But I think that the kind of extremity and the defense of truth is not really the end of the world or not extremity and assertiveness.
In the realm of truth is probably well worth it.
Oh, somebody loves my old ass.
Well, thank you. It actually looks quite useful, if I do say so myself.
So, yeah.
So, for just those who don't know, well, why would you be here if you didn't?
So, first of all, for those of you who helped me out with the debate prep, I really, really appreciate that.
I really appreciate that.
So, Just for those of you who don't know, so if you support me through Subscribestar, which you can go to subscribestar.com forward slash free domain, you can support me through Subscribestar.
You get access to a private Discord server, and we chat, and we had a bunch of prep today about these debates.
You know, this stuff doesn't really come out of nowhere.
For me, at least, there's a lot of prep.
Like this guy, Matt...
Matt McManus. I kept wanting to say McManus, but that sounded a bit douchey, so to speak.
So I did a debate with Matt McManus, who called me out on Twitter about a week ago, and I said, yeah, let's not do this Twitter back and forth.
That's kind of dull. Let's actually sit together and have a chat.
So I spent a good...
I've had a deal of time reading his stuff and listening to some fairly obscure podcasts that he did, and I enjoyed it.
I think that it was a very good debate, and it was a bit of a surprise.
I didn't know we were going to go into immigration.
So I had to, I guess, dig up some data on the fly, blah, blah, blah.
But anyway, so I do think that it was a good debate.
And, you know, they were strong contenders and fast on their feet.
And... I guess I baited them into some pushback, which was good.
So many great videos this week.
You're a beast. Hey, I'm doing it for you.
I'm doing it for philosophy.
I'm doing it for the future.
Is it wise to purposefully irritate someone with, say, an off-color jab in a debate just to throw them off, or does it appear weak?
So, you know, this is a big question with regards to debates.
And I say to you what I have said to...
Everyone consistently in the past is something I got from my college roommate who's got two PhDs now and is a stone genius.
But he said that the best strategy for dealing with people is...
And this is fairly well validated and very well validated unless things have changed.
He said the best way to deal with people is treat them the best you can the first time.
Let you meet them and after that treat them as they treat you.
If there's nothing else you get from tonight or the show as a whole, that is a good one.
So if...
You treat them very well.
And then after that, you treat them as they treat you.
In preparation for the debate, which was quite a lengthy series of conversations, and we role-played some of the arguments and so on.
So if you come in too punchy and people don't know the backstory, then you look like the aggressor.
And, you know, in general, I want to have a good participative kind of debate where we're in hot pursuit of truth and so on.
This came in really harsh, and the reason it wasn't on my channel was that Matt didn't want to be on my channel.
He would feel sullied, you know, to be in the vicinity or whatever, right?
You know, that's fine. It's not the end of the world or anything like that.
But...
If you don't know the backstory and I come in guns blazing, so to speak, then I look like the aggressor and that is off-putting.
You kind of have to do this dance with the people who are watching.
I'm positive and friendly but passionate early on.
If things start to get heated, then they get heated.
I don't really like to throw in jabs to throw people off.
That seems kind of manipulative, but I will say what pops into my mind.
Thank you, Michelle.
I appreciate your kind words.
Well, thank you.
Jay Galt said he just donated.
I appreciate that. Freedomend.com forward slash donate.
He said, I haven't realized the commie weeds have grown so much in the past few years.
Thank you for your service and the good fight, sir.
Stefan was given a socialist education, but he does not want you to have yours.
That is an elitist hypocrite.
You know, the things that I use in my show that come from my...
I was just thinking about this the other day.
What do I use in my show that comes from the formal education that I received?
And the answer is virtually nothing.
Virtually nothing. Now, what I... Do, though, is the value that I think I have sort of created in the show I will put out to the world for free, or at least, you know, based upon the support of donors.
And so, yeah, it was, I don't really get much from this government education, but what I did get outside of the government education, the experience I got in the free market in particular, has, I think, given me a lot of value to provide back out there.
Alright, any other quick questions or comments?
I just wanted to drop by and say thanks for watching and, of course, thanks for the support that allows me to do this.
And, you know, I hope I do you guys proud, which I didn't do, I think, by stumbling five times on the word abolitionists, but, you know, every now and then that happens.
But I always am aware that, especially for those of you who've donated and supported and invested, that I'm kind of front and center.
And I want to...
I always want you guys to be proud of me.
I mean, I'll be straight up there, man.
I always want to...
I almost want you guys to be proud of me.
And if there's anything else that I can do to do better at that, I work for you.
And you are the boss.
So I would like to let me know if there's anything.
You're proud of me. Thank you very much.
So you can go to...
Let me just double-check this here.
F-D-R-U-R-L dot com forward slash FebDebate.
Is that... Is that still live there now?
Yes, it is. Oh, you get to see the edges of my studio.
Yeah, sorry about that. I don't know what the heck was going on there.
But yeah, so you can go to fdrurl.com forward slash FebDebate for February debate, of course.
I will put that in the chat window as well.
There, you can go and watch that.
Stefan, would you consider doing a series of complex topics explained simply for those that don't understand these topics?
Just shoot me an email, man.
The email is on the website.
Just shoot me an email. And I would be happy to do that.
God bless you, Steph. We are proud of you.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
You are the man taught me so much after my initial red pilling, but I appreciate that as well.
Can you debate any vaccine experts?
You know, that is a...
That is an interesting question.
I gotta tell you, you know, I'm still not competent at sort of IQ discussions and so on because I'm certainly no expert on genetics.
The idea of me being good enough to have a strong conversation with a pro or anti-vaccine expert, I just, you know, I mean, I know how long it takes to get good at stuff.
And... I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon.
I don't think it's a very productive use of my time to try and take months to become an expert in this kind of stuff.
And look, there's tons of people out there doing this kind of work who have real expertise.
So please check out that.
All right. Are you worried about coronavirus?
Absolutely. Not so much the virus.
Worried about the effects on the economy as a whole.
I mean, we just lost $5 trillion worth of stock market value.
Now, the stock market was due for a correction, and they'll probably find some way to blame this on Trump, but...
It is of concern.
I'm not particularly concerned about catching it myself.
I work from home, but I'm in homeschool.
So I would say that there are reasons to be concerned.
And as I said before, it doesn't do you any harm.
You know, there's an old saying in the prepper community.
It says, okay, if I'm mistaken, if the prepper says, if I'm mistaken, I get to eat my mistakes.
If you're mistaken, you don't get to eat.
So it is that way.
Oh, Kevin, why are you a hypocrite?
You're a socialist educated.
You know, you can't be socialist educated.
You can only be socialist indoctrinated.
All right. We're going to have to say goodbye to this guy who, you know, I mean, talking philosophy on a Friday night is great.
Sitting around trolling people is just kind of boring.
So, all right.
Irrational absolutes lead to universal violence.
Well, that's very true. That's very true.
All right. Who else thinks the coronavirus was released on purpose to be a scapegoat for the next GFC? GFC? Something correction?
I don't know what GFC is. Tell us what you are working on next.
Ah, well, you know, I had all these plans.
Coronavirus came along and I really felt a strong urge to...
Well, keep everyone informed to keep myself informed, my family safe.
So I've been working on that. I would love to do a history of philosophy.
I've got some plans and notes down for all of that history of philosophy on location.
I really do enjoy getting out of the studio.
And unfortunately, it's too dangerous to do speaking engagements at the moment.
I don't know if that's going to change. I doubt it, but we'll see.
But I do enjoy the documentaries and global financial crisis.
Thank you. I do enjoy the documentary, so I'd go out and do some of that.
I had thought about doing something on the Yellow Vests in France, but that's a little dicey these days.
A couple of other projects that I've got floating around.
I'm halfway through a presentation on Immanuel Kant, because, of course, I know Immanuel Kant from Ayn Rand's hostility to him, but I do want to find out more about the guy himself, so that's something which I hope people find interesting, but I would certainly enjoy doing, so... Well, coronavirus being more manufacturing back to the States.
Oh yeah, my God, especially medicine.
The idea that you put the lives of millions on the tenuous healthcare commitments of a totalitarian dictatorship responsible, as my last guest said, for half a billion deaths.
I mean, that was insane.
That was insane. You know, America won't let other people manufacture its core defense stuff, but boy, when it comes to just Medicine and pharmaceuticals and all of that.
Yeah, sure, fine. All right, let's see here.
I had the worst luck, but the market's had all these put options, which is by the day before the market crashes.
Arg! Yeah, I know what you mean, man.
I know what you mean.
I know what you mean. Let's go back early to Bitcoin.
Love the call-in shows. Keep them coming.
I appreciate that. I will work on that.
And there's a new email set up for that, so you can do that.
And have you read Unintended Consequences?
I mean, I know what Unintended Consequences is from an economic standpoint, but I don't know that in particular.
Are lefties really that violent now that you fear for your safety in doing speaking engagements?
Well, yeah. I mean, I get shut down because of bomb threats and death threats, and then the police don't show up even when people call 911.
I mean, that's bad, man. It's bad out here for that kind of stuff.
I mean, it was bad in Australia.
I was shut out in New Zealand.
I was shut out in Vancouver.
And, you know, people buy tickets, they come, and it's bad.
You know, it's... I have no public right to free speech.
I have no public right to free speech.
I can't do it. Stefan, have you ever had emotional stress result in physical symptoms?
If so, any advice on how to get through it?
Yes. Yes, I have, in fact.
And it was, for me, insomnia.
16 months. Oh, it was brutal.
It was brutal. And...
I, you know, I am not, I'm not a happy camper when I'm tired.
And I sleep well, for the most part.
But yeah, I, and the reason I was just, The reason that I couldn't sleep was I was sleepwalking through my life.
I was enmeshed in corrupt business relationships.
I was enmeshed in a corrupt romantic relationship.
I had corrupt relationships, family of origin plus friendships, just all around me.
I was not living my values.
And, you know, it's kind of like you cannot live your values for a while and it will stretch you out and it will stretch you out like a rubber band and then, boink, it just breaks.
And it just broke.
It just broke.
And it got me into therapy, and it got me into saying, you know what?
We just... I just have to live these values.
Like, I have to give up these values, or I have to live the values.
Now, I couldn't give up the values.
That would be like removing my heart with an asbestos club and a spork.
I mean, I just couldn't do it.
So then I just had to live the values, and it took quite some time.
And I remember I went to Morocco for...
New Year's Eve 1999.
And then I went straight from there one night at home.
I went straight from there to China for business.
And there were people supposed to come to China with me, but they got sick.
So I ended up flying to China on my own and making my way there fairly solitary.
And I remember it being freezing cold.
Early January in Beijing and walking down the street and just being absolutely freezing, walking to Tiananmen Square and had to dip into hotels just to warm up.
It was so unbelievably cold.
And there, I don't know if it was a time flip or just the disorientation that came from going to two countries that I didn't even recognize the language in, Arabic and Mandarin, but the sleep...
Came back. And from there, I never really looked back as far as that went.
So yeah, it is tough.
I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
Well, maybe my worst enemy.
But then he'd be a friend, because he would...
You didn't sleep way longer than Jordan Peterson, who broke a world record for 25 days straight.
Yeah, I mean, I think that was hyperbole.
Obviously, it wasn't very serious. I don't think you couldn't possibly stay awake for 25 days.
All right. I hope he's doing better.
What is your cranial capacity?
Well, it's bigger than my hair, I'll tell you that much.
I'll tell you that much.
Insomnia on my time zone is almost 1am.
Why do you think I'm here right now?
Let's see here. I guess one or two more questions because I got a...
It's funny. It's a lot of work doing those kinds of debates, man.
My brain just gets heated and I think I go through a lot of glucose.
All right. I'm trying to find a therapist.
Went to five different ones. I feel like goodwill hunting.
Oh, yeah. Sorry about that.
I have a podcast. I believe it's 1927, but you can find it at fdrpodcasts.com.
It is a podcast on at least my thoughts on how to find a great therapist and I hope that will help.
Donald Trump in 2020, but who knows in 2024?
Ah, you know, Donald Trump wouldn't take it for granted.
There has been a lot of demographic shift, and certainly by 2024, unless immigration is significantly controlled, it's not going to be anybody other than the left or the pretend left known as Conservative Inc., My portfolio has dropped over 10% in one week.
How many months do you think until the market bounces back?
Months or years? I would put it in the former, not in the latter.
But again, I'm not trying to give anybody any financial advice.
I'm just going off the seat of my pants here.
All right. What are the most philosophical countries?
And why? That's a big question.
I have to sort of mull that over.
Do you think Harvey Weinstein got what he deserved?
You know that old phrase, going medieval?
Eduardo says, I've had bad to severe insomnia ever since I was 14.
So a book I read that was actually quite helpful was called Say Goodnight to Insomnia, and I would check that out.
I would check that out. All right.
It doesn't look like we have too many questions about the debate.
I guess that's good. Do a video on Descartes.
That is a great idea. That's a great idea.
I wrestled with Descartes for months when I first did it.
Thank you. Quite right.
Thank you for that. All right.
Well, you see, it depends.
If they try to manage or control or minimize the downward acceleration of the stock market correction, then they're going to extend it and make it worse, right?
Any more George Washington videos coming up?
No. I think three hours on that was probably enough, if I remember rightly.
Hey, cockboy, why do you keep dodging name-the-trait argument?
Oh, so boring. I don't know.
Like, does this work?
Bard or Paladin? Paladin.
Does this work in your world that you call people a chicken and they just do what you want?
I mean, that's the saddest and most ridiculous and pathetic form of remote control that I experience.
It's like, why do you keep ducking this debate with Destiny?
Oh, you're just going to run away from this debate?
It's like, I'm sorry, I'm not 12.
You can't control me that way.
It's just kind of funny. I think you suffered through Vosch for us.
I have sleep paralysis.
Any hell. Oh yeah, that's rough.
What happened to Lauren Southern? Oh, she's posted about it.
You can go find out. She's posted about it.
I think it's on Instagram. I won't tell you about it in case...
You can go find out about it.
I think Stefan Mullen should debate and blow Richard Spencer out of the water for good.
Yeah, but he's got a...
Doesn't CNN keep giving him a platform these days now?
So... Where was the debate?
You can find it at FDRURL.com forward slash FebDebate.
I debated a professor and a socialist.
Well, one of them was supposed to be the moderator.
It turned out to be the...
Do you ever change someone's mind at a debate?
By God, yes! Yours?
The debate is for the audience.
I wouldn't debate these guys if it wasn't an audience-based thing.
I wouldn't sit there and have some debate with them privately, but it is for the audience.
That's what it's for. Would you ever do an interview with Ron Paul, or at least with Rand?
I wouldn't mind that, but I doubt they would.
The reputation slime keeps getting hit.
All right. Dyer smoked you.
That's why you debated Vosh.
Oh, you know what's interesting? So, I get this.
You know, like, I see this. If you go to Vosh's channel, I put on my hazmat suit and dipped over on Vosh's channel a day or two ago after our debate.
And, oh, yeah, it was all like, Molyneux impersonates women on his frozen videos and other lies about that.
Anyway, but, you know, this...
The reason why I was pretty harsh on Vosh on Twitter was because, I mean, I heard the stuff that he talked about, and he put out the video, and Molyneux destroyed!
You know, I get, you know, there's a certain amount of marketing involved in this kind of stuff.
But, you know, when you have this, like, weird, brain-dead, two-bit wrestling stuff of destroyed and obliterated and blah, blah, blah, you know, okay, yeah, people do better and worse in debates.
I get all of that. But, you know, a halfway intelligent person would say, this argument was very effective.
This argument was not rebutted.
Like, just destroy it.
It's just, I don't know, it's just low-rent Neanderthal cheering nonsense, right?
Would you ever debate Jared Taylor or is he too much of a race realist?
He's kind of off the map these days, right?
Yeah. And so I don't think so.
Wear a condom when you read comments about yourself.
Yeah, that can be kind of true, right?
Do you think America is willing or capable of voting for a socialist?
Oh yeah, next generation for sure.
Yeah, next generation for sure.
I mean, 40% of young people have a positive view of socialism.
Why would you say Jared Taylor is off the map?
I haven't seen or heard of him for a while, so I'm sorry if he's being...
If he's not on the map, I'm just telling you my impression.
No super chat. No, I've been demonetized by everyone and their dogs.
So, yeah, that's why freedomhink.com forward slash donate would be excellent.
So, let's see here.
What do you think about procrastination?
Ooh, I do have a video on that, putting off procrastination, which is really good, and you should check that.
Stefan, please write an autobiography.
Do you know I actually have started one?
Believe it or not, it was about a year or two ago.
And the problem is, though, that there are other people who in my life when I was younger, it's not their fault that I have become who I have become and that I've been lied about to the extent that I've been lied about.
It's not their fault. So I don't know that it's really fair on them to talk about them in an autobiography.
So I'm still mulling that one over, but I don't think it will happen.
Although the first part was really, really good, just about my very, very early childhood, earliest memories and things that really struck me.
Subscribe style, more videos there too.
Yes, that's right.
That's right. That's right.
You can, of course, go on Subscribestar, and when you subscribe, you will get, I think there's like 200 posts there, a lot of bonus videos and stuff that hasn't even come out to the mainstream yet and may never, in fact, do that.
Do you watch anime? Oh, it's funny.
So there was this guy named Niels way back in the day, just when the show was starting out, and we had our first server on community server, and he convinced me to watch, and I was trying to think of the name of this the other day as I was talking about it with my daughter, and He convinced me to watch some Studio Ghibli production, which was about the creepiest freaking thing that I've ever seen in my life.
Good Lord, did it ever give me the willies.
Like, strange animals marching in some subterranean realm and chatting and kids lost.
And like, oh my God, it was like a psychodrama of the most disturbing and strange and weird.
It could just be, you know, the way it strikes me or whatever, but...
No, no, it wasn't tentacle porn.
No, no. I'm not that guy.
No, it wasn't that. It was just really, really unsettling for me and could be for that.
I send my kid to daycare two days a week just so I can work on coding projects.
What are your thoughts on that?
I'm not feeling great about it.
Do you have a partner?
Can you get someone else who's a family member to watch?
I don't know. It's hard to know.
I mean, I would try and avoid it if you can, for sure.
If you can. All right.
All right. How would you define time?
It's a magazine. Well, time is generally a measure of change, right?
All right.
Spirited Away. Is it Spirited Away, the movie you're thinking of?
I don't know if you... Michelle, if that's something that you remember from your one around back then, were you?
I was just thinking about how much fun it would be to reconnect with people from the early days, but I've lost track of most of them, so sadly it'd be tough.
Ghost in the Shell of Full Metal Alchemist?
Yeah, it's very, very strange.
Very strange stuff. All right, all right.
Very, very interesting stuff.
Why didn't you pull the against me argument?
Well, I kind of did. I did point guns against me.
And so...
How often do you return to philosophy texts for a refresher?
Well, you know, I mean, I did Aristotle.
I did Plato recently and read a whole bunch of stuff around that, so...
Would you consider adding other voices to Free Domain?
You mean as hosts? No, not really.
Not really. I enjoy it too much.
Sorry. Can I fix my own Wikipedia?
I think it's locked now.
I think that the socialists have locked it out, and I have no idea how to change any of that, so let me know if you have any thoughts on that.
But yeah, it would be nice for it to be a bit more even remotely balanced rather than just an endless hit piece.
All right. Okay. Well, listen, guys, fascinating stuff.
I just wanted to drop by and say hi.
Thanks a lot for the support that gives me the opportunity to have these kinds of debates.
And I will see you in the Subscribestar Discord chat.
Don't forget when you do sign up to check that out and get that all sorted.
And... I love you guys so much.
It's a real pleasure and a real honor to do all of this stuff with you.
And freedomain.com forward slash donate.
Have yourselves a great weekend. I've got some good surprise shows coming up too soon, which I'll keep your eyes peeled for those.
There's your little teaser. All right.
