The Moment of Choosing

The Moment of Choosing pits Trump’s 2023 State of the Union call—"protect citizens, not illegals"—against Democrats like Omar, Tlaib, and Green, who refused to stand, framing them as "radicalized" on open borders, defunding police, and opposing energy dominance. Hannity contrasts this with past Democratic leaders’ border stances while warning their policies risk alienating 75% of voters, calling the midterms a clash between "common sense" Republicans honoring heroes (e.g., Olympic hockey team) and a left prioritizing "illegals." Callers amplify the divide, labeling Democrats’ actions as "un-American," before Hannity ties it to faith, urging listeners to focus on redemption over politics. [Automatically generated summary]

This is an iHeart podcast.
guaranteed human all right let's get a simple man that can only mean one thing on this radio program
That is all things self-proclaimed, simple man.
That means all things, Bill O'Reilly, all things Bill O'Reilly at billo'reilly.com.
I want to ask you this question to start before I get your overall analysis, which I know you're dying to give me.
I think when the president said, you know, please, everyone in this room that agrees that the first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegals, and Democrats sat on their hands and the president then said, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Let me play that for you.
If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support.
The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.
Isn't that a shame?
You should be ashamed of yourself, not standing up.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Wow.
Now, if you watch the reaction of squad members to Lee, Omar, and then, of course, the lunatic Al Green, I just want to get your take on that moment, and then we'll do an overview.
Okay, well, that was a setup contrived by the Trump speechwriters, and it was a good one.
I don't think it was a setup.
I think it was a moment to decide.
You know, Reagan talked about a moment of choosing, and I think he was giving them a moment to choose where they stand.
But they knew the Trump people knew they weren't going to stand.
So it was a setup.
They set them up.
Now, the Democrats should have anticipated something like that was going to happen.
And the best thing for them to do would be to have stood up.
But since there's no leadership in the Democratic Party at all, and I mean this literally, there isn't.
Well, no, there's leadership in the Democratic Party, but it's not Hakeem Jeffries and it's not Chuck Schumer.
No, the radical squad is leadership.
There's no leadership in the party itself.
The people dictating the play are the political action committee Soros type people that are pumping all the money in.
And they are dictating what the Democrats do, which is why there was an alternate state of the union that you've heard nothing about because nobody showed up at the mall.
Those people that went out there, the congresspeople that didn't go to President Trump's speech, but went out to this alternative, were told to go.
And if they had defied it, their money would have dried up because they need far left money to run.
That's number one.
So when they were discussing, and I understand from my reporting, this speech started to formulate before Christmas that the Trump administration was working on it from the week before Christmas to Monday.
And in the body of discussions were, we're going to embarrass the Democrats.
What is the best way to do it?
And I don't know whom, but somebody came up with, well, we'll ask them to stand if they believe that the preference for public safety should be Americans.
Okay, my reporting is different, and I'm not trying to be contrarian to you.
My reporting is that they wanted to create a clear contrast between where they stand and where the Democratic Party, the radicalized Democratic Party stands.
This was not a show.
This is this, all right.
I can play tapes, and I have played them for you, of Chuck Schumer, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, all making the case that we have to have secure borders and that illegals must be deported.
This party has now evolved into open borders, anti-ICE, anti-voter ID, anti-tax cuts, sanctuary cities and states.
And that now is the brain trust, heart and soul of this radicalized party.
Now, it's not hard to create that distinction.
I think what Republicans would like to do, Bill, and what they're thinking about is it is hard to ignore historical trends where the party in power loses midterms.
And the way they're going to do that, the way the arguments they're going to make is to compare and contrast competing visions for the country.
And what they did last night, Bill O'Reilly, is so disgusting and disgraceful that no American, Democrat, Republican, or Independent supports them sitting on their ass the way they did last year and this year.
And I'm going to tell you something.
That's going to be a campaign ad in every district.
25% of the American public does support what the Democrats did.
They are the radical left.
No, Bill, the latest poll has over 80% of Americans believe in voter ID.
80% of Americans believe in deportation.
It's a separate issue.
Between 20 and 25% of Americans are open border people.
But we aren't disagreeing on the message that Republicans were sending.
We're disagreeing on how the message was formulated.
Hennedy, this was a stunt.
And I don't say that in a pejorative way.
I don't.
But it was a well-thought-out, here's the trap.
They will walk or sit right into the trap.
And they did.
And then Trump had right there, you ought to be ashamed of yourself.
He had it written down.
They knew the speech writers, the White House knew that the Democrats weren't not going to stand.
And that's why they inserted it.
Now, the overarch of the speech was that the Republicans wrapped themselves in the flag, which has been done many, many times before.
And there's nothing wrong with that.
Patriotism is a good thing.
All right.
And they're trying to portray their opposition, the Democrats, as unpatriotic.
That's what it is.
So we Republicans are patriotic.
You Democrats are not patriotic.
That's can I take issue a little bit, and I don't like to disagree with you this sternly, this publicly, because I respect you so much, is that There's something that has happened here that has never happened in our lifetime, and that is the Democratic Party of old.
And by old, I'm talking about Clinton, and I'm talking about Obama even, pre-Biden, that this was a party that was smart.
They were strategic.
They knew triangulation, if we want to quote our old friend Dick Morris.
This was a party that, you know, Bill Clinton came from Arkansas, quote, moderate Democrat.
You know, the era of big government is over.
The end of welfare as we know it.
You know, this is not a party that would have ever supported where the current Democratic Party is.
You know, to watch Congresswoman Omar and Congresswoman Tlib with her F-Ice button on and to watch them sit on their hands and put the rights of illegals over the safety and security of the American people is breathtaking.
And I think that this stark contrast now is coming.
The clarity now has never been brighter.
And now as we head into a midterm in November, I think that the American people are going to have the biggest choice midterm election in their lifetime.
And that the Democrats, by just simply being who they are, have created an obstacle for themselves that I don't think they're aware is enormously dangerous.
They don't want voter ID.
They want sanctuary cities.
They want open borders.
They want to defund the police and dismantle the police.
They want no bail laws.
They voted against the largest tax cut in history and in doing so voted for the largest tax increase in history.
There's nothing.
If Donald Trump announced last night he cured cancer, they wouldn't have stand for that either.
And this is the contrast that they themselves created.
It's not one that Donald Trump was setting him up for.
It's who they are.
He's exploiting that.
And that's obvious.
He's taking the radical wing of the Democratic Party, which controls the financing.
That's so important for people to understand.
Okay?
Because these congresspeople have to run every two years.
They need the money.
They're not going to get the money if they don't take the radical point of view.
But you're correct in Omar and Tlib screaming, you killed Americans.
That is so off-putting and so offensive even to, it's not offensive to the radical left, but it's offensive to 75% of the American voter.
The problem with the midterms is that you had about 150 million people vote for president.
You're going to have below 100 million vote in November.
The floaters, the bubble people, aren't going to vote.
They never do in the midterms.
But the advantage that President Trump handed his party last night was extremely significant.
And I look back in all the state of the unions and I didn't see another speech that handed a party the advantage that Trump handed the Republican Party last night.
Because what he did was he positioned the party and himself, but the party was on the ballot in the midterms, okay, as a patriotic, we love America party where the opposition does not love America.
That's the simplification of what happened.
That will get through.
It has to get through.
And then it depends on how many people will show up that are not committed one way or the other.
You know, it's just, these are such interesting times that we live in.
And I really do believe that the Republican Party has far better odds than anybody's going to give them today to defy those historical trends and hold on to the House, hold on to the Senate.
And Donald Trump will then get to continue his agenda for the next two years.
And I think it's critical that America continue the progress that he's made.
One of the things that made this so interesting to me, too, is that the sheer magnitude, shock, and awe of the first year back in office.
We've never seen this.
He works at the speed of light, Bill.
He wants every American to prosper.
He went through a laundry list of things that he said he would do and he did and how he's making life better for the American people.
This is not your typical State of the Union speech that we saw last night.
No, it was much more contentious because Trump isn't even trying to unite the country.
He's trying to destroy a movement that he feels is harmful to the country.
There's no compromise or detente there.
No compromise with an OMR.
How do you compromise with no voter ID versus ID?
How do you compromise with open borders and secure borders?
How do you compromise with tax cuts and tax increases?
How do you compromise?
You can't.
So what the president is trying to do is crush the opposition.
And a little-known thing that he said last night that I think has resonated among the folks that are having trouble paying their bills is the Obamacare.
He went after Obamacare big time.
And he said, look, this whole thing has hurt you financially.
And now we're going to unravel it.
And every Democrat in the room voted for Obamacare.
So he's probably, he's trying to marginalize.
But there's eight months left before the midterms.
And there are going to be some economic things that happen.
If they go the Republicans' way, then the Republicans will maintain the two houses, I believe.
Then you got Iran.
Iran is going to come to a head within the next two weeks.
Can't keep those ships there much longer than that.
Now, Iran is signaling they're ready to capitulate, but that changes from hour to hour.
So the president, what he did was he stopped the bleeding last night because there was bleeding on the economic front about high prices.
Stopped it.
Well, I think he was able to stop that.
Anyway, all things simple man Bill O'Reilly.
Mr. O'Reilly, I know you're telling your audience about my new video podcast.
And one day, hopefully, we'll have you on.
Asking The Audience To Vote 00:07:18
How does that sound?
You know, I'm looking forward to your podcast, Sammy.
Yeah, but you got to wear makeup.
I mean, I really would hate to think of you without makeup on.
Are you mocking my appearance?
Absolute-freaking lootly.
Yes.
I got to go.
All right, Mr. O'Reilly.
We appreciate you.
All things simple man Bill O'Reilly of billoilly.com, sir.
All right, quick break, right back.
All right, let's get to our busy phones.
800-941 Sean, if you want to be a part of the program.
Tim, Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth.
What's up, Tim?
How are you?
Glad you called, sir.
Hey, Sean, thank you for taking my call.
I greatly appreciate it.
I do want to hit on the State of the Union speech, the midterms, and how to fix the divide in our country.
But respectfully, sir, I got to make a correction on you because you are a little bit wrong, or I should say a lot wrong on one little area.
Okay.
You need to quit making fun of Linda for these green drinks that she drinks.
Because, sir, if she's making these drinks correctly, and I don't know that she is, these green drinks, although they don't look great, I agree with you on that, are some of the highest dent nutrient-based foods on the planet.
Okay.
The shake that she makes or buys is a kale shake.
Kale is an inflammatory, and kale is not as healthy as we once thought.
And it is so disgusting.
All it does is remind me of the exorcist and Linda Blair and her projectile vomiting puke green that was in that movie.
It is disgusting.
I'm sure it tastes disgusting, and I want no part of it.
So I will continue to make fun of that disgusting drink she has.
Come on, you need to man up and drink one live on the air, bud.
Yeah, let me tell you something.
I'm going to man up and have a big steak and some eggs and protein and live happily ever after.
Anyway, I can see I'm not going to convince you of that.
So let me hit on the, if you got time, let me hit on the state of the union.
I love the state of the union.
I love it when the real people are out there, like the hockey team, the 100-year-old veteran, all those real people.
It's my favorite part of every speech like that.
It's incredible.
President Trump is incredible.
I am concerned about the midterms that we're not sitting on our hands.
And, sir, I'm asking you to jump on these midterms sooner rather than later.
This is an election we cannot lose.
Well, number one, you're from Pennsylvania.
Your point of view matters a lot to me because Pennsylvania is critical to win the midterms.
Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, all important states, Arizona, Nevada, they all matter.
And, you know, for the foreseeable future, your Commonwealth will matter a lot.
I am promising you that I have a complete strategy to make sure that every single solitary listener to this show, and I hope you tell your friends to listen and your family to listen and your neighbors to listen and your coworkers to listen.
Because by the time we get to November, I will lay out exactly what is at stake in this election and that people can make an informed decision.
But I will say this: as often as I may be able to do this with as large an audience I'm so blessed to have on this radio program, it will never be as impactful as what President Trump did last night, what he was able to accomplish last night that has gone viral.
And that is that he was able to draw a distinction.
It has never been this clear-cut in terms of you have radicalism on the left and you have common sense on the right.
And if you're against voter ID, and if you're again, and if you support sanctuary cities and if you support open borders and if you support amnesty and you want to defund and dismantle the police and you don't want any bail laws and you voted for the highest tax increase in history and you don't want America to be energy dominant,
all of these issues and you're pro-men playing women's sports and men in women's locker rooms, everything is on the line in this midterm.
So you're asking me to make sure I inform this audience about all of these issues.
I will do it every day, and then I'll go online and read, Sean Hannity's repetitive, and the answer will be, that is correct, because I do it on purpose.
I do it by design, and I do it so that every casual listener to this program at some point is going to hear me say this so that they fully understand and comprehend how important this midterm is.
It's the most important midterm election in our lifetime.
And the stakes, they couldn't be any higher.
So I'm asking everybody in this audience to please commit in your mind, your heart, your soul, that you are going to vote in this midterm election and that you are going to ensure that the progress we are now making as a country continues because everything is on the line.
Can I be any more clear than that?
No, you cannot be any clearer.
Now, you ready for the answer to this division in our country?
Go ahead.
Because my sister is a big-time Democrat.
And, you know, I sent her a text when it was like 10 below zero that I said, I hope this global warming kicks in pretty soon.
And she sent me about a four-page text back, you know.
But anyway, we love each other.
We'll go to dinner.
She'll go to my camp in the mountains with me.
But we just can't talk politics.
But here's what you can talk.
You got to win people over to Christ, my friend.
You got to talk about God.
You got to have your own house in order.
Then you got to get out there and let your little light shine.
And Jesus will move hearts.
Listen, I'm going to tell you something.
And as I get older in life, but, you know, I've had this in my heart my entire life.
And I don't know why, but God moved my heart at a very young age in my early 20s.
And I realized that I needed God in my life.
And I've not been a perfect person.
I'm not claiming to be a perfect person.
All I am saying is, is that my faith, my belief in God in heaven and, you know, and Jesus has made such a difference in my life that without it, you know, even with it, I know that of myself, I am nothing.
And I understand, you know, the beauty of Christianity, in my view, which is often misunderstood and purposely distorted by people, is that, oh, they're self-righteous.
Oh, they're, you know, holier than thou, that they're proselytizing.
Faith and Firefighting 00:05:46
No.
The heart and soul of Christianity is first acknowledging your failures, first acknowledging that you can't fix it on your own, then reaching out to God, wanting him to change your heart so that you can then start a new life and become a better person.
That's all it is.
It's not any more complicated than that.
And that you believe in forgiveness and redemption and that we are flawed human beings and that we need salvation.
That's it.
Anyway, so amen to that, my friend.
God bless you.
Appreciate it.
Joe, South Dakota, you're up next on the Sean Hannity Show.
I just wanted to comment a little bit about the Democrats that were not showing up for the speech last night.
I thought they were trying to avoid looking ridiculous.
Unfortunately, they did not disappoint.
They looked ridiculous.
They looked totally unpatriotic and un-American.
And Trump was the best version of himself I've ever heard.
Well, I'm going to tell you something.
The Democrats did us the biggest favor they could ever do last night.
They illustrated everything I have been saying about them now for the longest period of time.
I can't say it any better than how they acted last night.
I can't.
But America got to see it.
America understands it.
You know, the American people are good people, and they are people of common sense.
And you can't convince me that any independent voter is going to look at that party last night and think, oh, I really agree with them that, you know, that the first duty of government is to protect illegals over Americans.
Not going to happen.
And, you know, they can criticize ICE.
They can criticize Donald Trump.
They can hate on Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is a force of nature that is trying to fundamentally get this country away from a precipitous decline that we were in and a change in culture that was occurring.
He's bringing back manufacturing.
He's putting America first.
He's closing our borders.
He's restoring American greatness and goodness and strength around the world.
And that is exactly what this moment calls for.
And I hope we continue down that path.
All right, quick break.
Right back.
We'll continue.
800-941-Sean is on number if you want to be a part of the program as we continue this Wednesday, this post-state of the Union Day on the Sean Hannity Show.
He's always been a street fighter who takes on the system.
And Hannity is doing it today.
Fighting left-wing powers who want to stamp out conservative voices, fighting fire with fire.
That's Sean Hannity.
Back to
our busy phone.
Our toll-free number, 800-941-Sean, if you want to be a part of the program.
Eric in Utah, what's up, Eric?
How are you?
How's my buddy Rod Arquette out there, K-A-N-R-S?
Doing well, especially with his new co-host, Greg Hughes.
Oh, he has a new co-host.
I didn't know that.
Who is it?
They do a show together, Greg Hughes, who ran for governor a little while ago.
I know Greg Hughes is.
That's awesome.
Rod has been a longtime friend.
And Rod is annoying, though, because Rod sends me pictures of crown burgers knowing that I can't get one.
Yeah, they just opened one right near where I'm living.
Yeah, thanks a lot.
It's a good burger, but I can't eat them.
They're too big.
No, they're not too big.
Just, you know, just have at least one a week.
You know, like an apple a day keeps the doctor away, whatever.
One crown burger a week, I don't know, makes you happy.
I will do that for you and send you a picture.
Yeah, send me a picture.
Make me piss me off.
See if I care.
Sorry, Sean.
Hey, I've been listening to you since they took Gordon Liddy off the radio and put your show on.
So it's been a long time.
Gee, Gordon Liddy was a great guy.
I loved him.
He was a fun, fun human being.
I liked him a lot.
He was.
I liked listening to him.
And then they put you on, and he went off the air, and I've been listening to you ever since.
So I even got my wife.
Thank you.
I'm going to combine two things for you.
My main reason for that.
By the way, you do know that other station threw me off the air because they thought I was too controversial.
And now we're number one in Utah in Salt Lake.
Yeah, you have been.
I followed you for multiple stations because they weren't always, you were on 9-10 for a while.
Now you're on 1059KNRS, and I followed you and found you where you went.
Thank you very much for that.
I appreciate it.
I enjoy those with you.
And finally, last year got my wife's listen, and now she is very, very involved in politics.
I love it.
I was calling for two reasons.
Number one, I wanted to talk to you about term limits and how we can make that happen without going through Congress.
Why Democrats Failed Our Heroes 00:02:10
Because number two, at the State of the Union, Congress just approved again how idiotic and stupid they are, and they'll never get it done.
When you watch the immaturity of the squad and Al Green running out, I mean, they're just an embarrassment to the United States.
And I don't know how to be able to.
But here's the good part.
The good part is, you know, for those people that didn't show up, for those people that were screaming at the president, like Omar and Talib, and those people with their F-Ice buttons and Al Green's antics and Democrats not standing and the president calling them out, saying you should be ashamed of yourselves.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
And, you know, even when he introduced the Olympic gold medal hockey team, you know, he said, wow, some of them are actually for the first time standing and clapping, but not all of them.
How does everybody in that room not stand for them or the many other people that the president honored last night?
There were so many of them.
I said last year after Democrats would not stand for Lake and Riley and Jocelyn Nungarry.
This is a party that lost their heart, their soul, and their conscience.
And I can report today that they are still a soulless party.
Yes, sir.
I mean, when they didn't stand for the heroes of our country that fought in battle, they just showed their complete, utter disdain for the country.
It doesn't matter.
That little girl that had, you know, I mean, that was, that wasn't supposed to walk again, that's now in first grade because of an illegal immigrant.
I mean, if that doesn't break your heart, if that does not illustrate, you know, why you don't let illegal immigrants into our country unvetted, I don't know what else will.
The same with Lake and Riley's family, Jocelyn Nungari's family.
And, you know, this is a very, very pivotal defining issue of our time.
This is an iHeart podcast.
