How Could Another Attempt Happen? - September 16th, Hour 1
Sean covers the layout of the golf course where President Trump was nearly assassinated and talks about how well the Secret Service reacted. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Thank you, Scott Shannon, and thanks to all of you for being with us right down our toll-free telephone number.
It's 800-941 Sean.
If you want to be a part of the program today, 50 days till election day, this is an inflection point for this country.
I hope you feel a sense of real purpose and energy and urgency about the future of this country because of Kamala Harris with her radical views, unvetted by a corrupt institution known as the state run media mob, is able to hide, duck, weave, dodge her way into the White House.
I I predict this country will be unrecognizable four years from now.
In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, early voting starts today, tomorrow.
And then it will now unfold very quickly.
We have all the details of this on Hannity.com, how to register, when early voting starts in your state.
We put it up as a public service.
We hope you'll take advantage of it.
It has been a really hard weekend in a lot of ways, um, and a very revealing weekend.
Uh, any of you that might have been watching Fox coverage know that I was on the air quite a bit.
Um, my friend Steve Whitcoff.
Steve is a real estate developer, uh, investor, one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in your life, one of the most generous people you'll ever meet in your life.
Uh, we were with another friend of ours, another guy that also is one of the most generous people you'd ever want to know or meet with in life.
Um anyway, we had gone to breakfast uh on Sunday morning together, and and we like to go to this hole in the wall.
I mean, these are these are pretty successful people.
We love it's not even I shouldn't say that because it's like my favorite place.
It's called the City Diner, and and we met up there and we had breakfast together.
They have the best breakfast, they have the best patty melt, the best Philly cheesesteak that you're gonna get in Florida, period and a sentence, have the best burgers overall, the best menu I've ever had in my life.
I just love the food.
The owner's one of the nicest people you ever met.
So we all meet there together, and we're we're we're having breakfast together, just three friends.
And Steve is and Steve and my other friend are they're about to go over to see President Trump.
And I I usually don't hang out at Trump clubs um because of my job and covering him.
Uh he's been nice enough to invite me on occasion, and and I usually decline unless it's business related.
Uh and uh I just you know, and he and Steve all through bre come on, come play golf with us.
Now, Steve's a really good golfer.
The president's a really good golfer.
I have I've played like three times in the last five years.
Uh I just don't have time to play golf.
I used to play quite a bit, and I was getting better and better.
And one day when I have a little bit more time, I would like to get back to it, but I'm not gonna I'm ready to play.
And I'm just like Steve, I'm not playing with both of you because I just it's gonna annoy me because I'm too competitive and I don't want to get killed that bad.
Long story short, we have a great breakfast.
They go to they had a meeting with President Trump.
Uh I was not a part of that, and they had the meeting at Trump International in West Palm Beach.
And the next thing I know, I get a call from Steve Whitkoff.
He goes, they just fired four shots while the president and I were playing golf.
He at the time he thought the shots were fired at the president.
And I'm like, you know, my heart sinks.
And I'm like, is everybody okay?
He starts giving me the details of what happened, and he's gonna share that story with all of you later in the program today in his own words, not my words.
And it is it is beyond harrowing to me.
And on the one hand, you have Secret Service agents within seconds, Steve describes, jumping on the president, doing their job, willing to lay down their life for another, you know, no greater love hath, right?
A man to do such.
And they did it.
They did it with professionalism and expertise.
And And Steve told me, he said he never even crouched down because he was so mesmerized by the quickly unfolding events in front of him.
And thankfully they got the president out of harm's way within seconds, and we didn't find out till hours later that the shots were fired by the Secret Service agent.
And you know, I we say this on a day.
Remember, last week we heard from Richard Blumenthal, the Democratic senator from contet from uh Connecticut that he thought the American people would be shocked, astonished, appalled about the report of the Secret Service failures in the Trump assassination attempt.
Senator Josh Hawley, here we are one day after the second attempt.
He has a new report out.
We'll go into some of the details of it, the whistleblower report, failures of the United States Secret Service.
It's also the Department of Homeland Security in connection with the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
This is the Butler, Pennsylvania case that they're going into detail with.
And how is it possible that somebody with a rifle and a yardage finder, a yard finder, whatever you call those things, a yard marker was able to scope out and fire a shot and come within a millimeter of assassinating President Trump.
What we now know is even worse than what I knew when I was on the air yesterday, because I now know the layout after speaking with Eric Trump, Laura Trump.
And I spoke to Governor DeSantis briefly last night and other people that were familiar with the course and my buddy Steve Whitcoff.
And now that I know the layout of this golf course, there is a part of me that is very proud of our Secret Service.
Just those people that Steve described to me as the most heroic people he'd ever witnessed in his life.
You know, not only, you know, putting themselves in harm's way to protect the president, but how quickly other Secret Service agents in an open field put out their tripods.
They knew the direction where the shot had been fired.
And they were literally in an open field being an open target, sort of like the field where Steve Scalise got shot in.
Those two officers at the time that were walking through a field, going up against a high-powered rifle with a pistol in their hand.
You're almost a dead duck, but they did it anyway.
Those officers, the Capitol Police officers, were amazing that day.
Just like these Secret Service guys next to the president, around the president.
They were amazing yesterday.
But that's not where the failure came.
In Butler, PA, we had somebody with a long-range rifle that, that had the president not turned his head, would have been assassinated.
And we have, in this case, you know, this is the most vulnerable area, it turns out, of the golf course.
Because this, it's holes four and five, a par three, and what they call a drivable par four, meaning you could reach the green in one shot if you're a pretty good driver.
And the president apparently was going to be plotting for birdie on this particular hole.
And long story short, if it wasn't for one agent, just one, that spotted the, an eagle-eyed agent, Secret Service agent, just spotted the barrel of the gun in the bushes a few hundred yards from what's called Congress Avenue.
This is in West Palm Beach, where the golf course is.
And what makes this the most dangerous area of the golf course is you have a street very, very close to these two holes.
It is known for the fact that paparazzi photographers often hide out in the bushes and also concealed by a fence.
And that's where they might get an image or a video of President Trump playing golf.
It's, there's nowhere else really on the golf course where you're going to get any good kind of picture unless you have a telephoto lens of some kind that's incredibly expensive and powerful.
And, and this is where now we learn that another assassin, in this case, about 300 or so yards away from President Trump, had an AK-47 with a scope.
Now, like the case in Butler, this case in West Palm Beach is very similar because this rifle, if you have marginal skill, you don't have to be a rifle marksman.
This is with a scope at that distance, it would be the equivalent of a one-foot putt in golf or a layup in basketball.
You know, if you have a free layup in basketball, odds are you're not going to miss that shot.
You know, if you have again marginal skill as a basketball player, marginal.
And but for one Secret Service agent spotting the barrel of that gun in the bushes, just uh 300 or so yards from where the former president was playing golf and presidential candidate, then we would be reporting about an assassination of Donald Trump today.
Now, the fact that the guy took the shot at the guy in the bushes by seeing the barrel of the gun, and that we also learned that this guy had apparently his cell phone pinged to that location at about 1 30 in the morning the night before, meaning that he was probably there all night or very likely there all night tells me that another massive security failure has occurred.
And I don't again, I'm praising the Secret Service around the president.
It's it's not in my nature to want to criticize law enforcement or people by the very definition of their job is to take a bullet for somebody.
Again, biblically, no greater love have a man than to lay down their life or for someone else, and that's who these people are, and these are the people I've gotten to know.
And but they're if you're getting within a hundred and thirty yards and uh and and three hundred yards of Donald Trump, probably one of the top targets, we've got a big problem.
And that's what happened here.
And something is radically wrong.
The only thing I didn't like, and I happen to be very, very fond of the sheriffs and law enforcement in general in Florida, especially compared to when I lived in New York.
It is night and day.
This is not a defund dismantle no bail law state.
This is a law and order state.
You don't get to commit crimes and get away with it in the state of Florida.
Then there are some areas that are more high crime areas than others, but that's not the point.
Generally speaking, every sheriff or member of a sheriff's department I've ever met, every police officer I've ever met down, these are the best of the best.
You have people leaving law enforcement in blue states because they want to be supported and they are supported, and then they were given big bonuses by Governor Ron DeSantis if they would leave the states that they were in and get the support that they wanted to come down here fully trained and get on the job.
They're amazing people.
But I didn't like that they said, well, the security is not the same for Donald Trump because he's not the president, but he's the number one target.
And he's we're 50 days out of an election and was 60 some odd days out of a previous assassination attempt, and I didn't particularly like that answer.
Maybe, maybe he misspoke.
But the problem with all of this is there's one street, is it is it is very obviously a security problem if the president is playing this golf course because of the close proximity of the bushes, the trees, and the fence to where the hole that the president was on to that street.
And the obvious answer is we needed somebody to be on that street, probably a couple of people, or certainly drone footage where in real time people were watching what was going on there, and I thought originally that had happened because both Steve and President Trump relayed that to me when I spoke to them after the shooting,
and this guy was, if it wasn't for the sharp eye of one agent, the odds are very high Donald Trump was assassinated today.
This can't happen in this country.
It is shocking, it is appalling, it is I I don't even have words to describe this to you.
Now, Steve will tell you about all the heroism of the people around the president, and those guys, the the those men and women are phenomenal.
But how do we allow somebody with an AK 47 and a scope to get again get that close to assassinating Donald Trump?
There's something radically wrong.
Now we're learning a lot more about Butler today, and we'll go over some of the findings in this whistleblower report.
And we've learned a lot about the accused uh attempt assassin uh the guy that wanted to be a the assassin in this case, but he was now you know in the sniper's nest, we're told for twelve hours before he was spotted by the Secret Service.
That area had to have been checked, considering the close proximity to the hole in the golf course and the cover that it would provide any would be assassin, like in this case.
Anyway, we got a lot of ground to cover today.
800 941 Shaun is on number if you want to be a part of the program.
All right, we're gonna go through the background history and you know, the and then we're gonna hear from Steve Whitkoff.
He was with the president yesterday when this assassination attempt was taking place.
We do have monumental failures that have got to be dealt with immediately.
There's there's no it there's no window here.
Um Governor Ron DeSantis, I know because I spoke to him last night, you know, and and then he tweeted out about this, or he put on social media.
I mean, any resources that that they need, if they're short of resources, you know, Florida uh if for one state, and I would imagine every state would provide for any presidential candidate if they're short of resources, but there's got to be proper coordination.
But you can't have assassins a hundred and thirty and three hundred or so yards away from any high ranking politician or presidential candidate.
Music Solid as a rock, honest, truthful.
This is the Sean Hannity Show.
All right, 25 now till the top of the hour.
800 941 Shauna's on number, only 50 days till election day.
Early voting starts tomorrow in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
We'll roll out around the country.
It is game time.
I hope every one of you feel a sense of urgency and have a belief in your heart, your mind, your soul, that your vote may be the final determining vote in this election.
There is so much at stake.
It's not even really about necessarily us as it is about our kids, about our grandkids.
I mean, we we just we just have to do everything we can do to prevent this radicalism, new green deal ism, free sex change operations, housing, health care, education for illegals, open borders, the biggest national security threat in our lifetime.
You know, uh the cost of democracy, higher energy, no fracking, no drilling.
We can't allow these policies to ever be put in place, and I'm just hoping that enough of you feel that sense of urgency that I'm feeling.
With fifty days to go, I'm gonna promise you something right now.
Election day is going to be here.
You're gonna blink your eyes, and it's here.
It's not my first rodeo.
I have been down this road, and it happens very, very quickly.
Again, I will urge all of you, even though you don't like it.
I'm pretty much if I did a survey, it would be 95 to 5.
Do you do you do you would you prefer paper ballots, election day and national holiday, proof of citizenship, voter ID, signature verification, chain of custody controls, updated voter roles, partisan observers in every precinct around the country, watching the voting all day, the vote counting all night.
You'd agree with me.
It's not the system I want either, but it's the system we're stuck with, and I just have concluded they they do do it successfully here in in my state of Florida, and I can tell you that they can do it they're gonna do it better.
A lot of states have have put a lot of integrity measures in place that didn't exist in 2020.
Not enough, but uh a lot of Changes in a lot of states.
And I'm just saying that we need to understand we cannot start out election day down hundreds of thousands of votes, and God forbid something happens and you can't vote on election day, you're going to regret not voting early and voting by mail.
And there are states, by the way, you can follow your ballots.
We have all the details of registering and when early voting starts in your state on Hannity.com as a public service.

That's G-O-V-X.com if you or somebody you know has served.
So we find ourselves in a situation where we have now come very close to the assassination of Donald Trump.
And ironically, and this had already been written, is a whistleblower report out.
Senator Josh Hawley, who's the on the Committee for Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, whistleblower report, the failures of the U.S. Secret Service in connection with the attempted assassination of former President Trump.
And what they detail is the failure of the Secret Service, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and how they have all tried to evade real accountability.
These agencies, these leaders have slow walk congressional investigations.
They have misled the American people.
I'm reading from the report and their executive summary.
They have shirked their responsibility.
In response, Senator Hawley, by the way, remember we had him on, he went to visit Butler, Pennsylvania, and they threw him out of the location immediately after the assassination attempt.
Anyway, he opened up a whistleblower tip line.
He encouraged those with relevant information to tell their stories.
I thought we'd praise whistleblowers, even here say whistleblowers, right?
These individuals have come forward with information and evidence regarding the events of July 13th.
We'll now need an investigation into what happened yesterday.
And that's from the Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security, and others.
And the findings are just as Senator Blumen's Vall said that they would be, and there's more to come.
This is only, you know, one part of the puzzle.
That the American people should be shocked, astonished, and appalled.
We are not a third world nation.
We are better than this.
They discovered the Secret Service counter surveillance division, which performs threat assessments of event sites, did not perform their typical evaluation of the Butler site and was not present on the day of the rally.
They found Secret Service personnel declined multiple offers from local law enforcement partners to deploy drone technology, despite the fact that the would-be assassin in This case used a drone to survey the rally site only hours before the attempted assassination, something we had reported on.
That the Secret Service's Office of Protective Operations Manpower told agents in charge for the Butler rally not to request additional security resources because they would be denied.
I can tell you from my sources within the Trump campaign, there have been numerous, numerous chronicled attempts to get more coverage.
And they have not been forthcoming in the lead up to this event in Butler, and even today.
There's no excuse that somebody could be 300 yards away with the cover of trees and bushes and a fence that is hanging out, according to one report today for twelve hours and then waiting for Donald Trump to turn the corner and take a shot at him, and but for one Secret Service agent, you know, seeing the barrel of a gun, Donald Trump would not be alive today.
Nobody would really miss that shot at that distance.
It's pretty unbelievable.
But back to Butler on July third on July 13th, law enforcement personnel abandoned the rooftop of the American Glass Research Building, the roof in which Thomas Crooks attempted to assassinate Donald Trump.
They abandoned it.
We now find out, not because of the slope, like they lied to us about, like the Secret Service had at the time.
They left because of the weather was hot.
Well, it wasn't hot enough for the assassin.
The Secret Service lead site agent with the specific responsibility for security at the rally site, including the line of sight concerns, was known to be incompetent.
That incompetence led to the placement of items like flags around the butler stage and the catwalk impairing visibility.
The supplemental Department of Homeland Security personnel were used to fill shortages of Secret Service personnel, and some DHS agents were pulled off child exploitation cases for this reason, and the training they received was merely a poor quality two-hour webinar.
I mean, these these findings are astonishing.
I mean, it's it's now two hours, you know.
Eric Trump said to me yesterday, Cat well, cats have nine lives.
How many how many lives left does my father have?
The lead agent responsible for the entire Butler visit, included including the rally failed a key examination during the federal law enforcement training to become an agent with the Secret Service.
Secret Service intelligence unit teams, you know, paired with state and local law enforcement were absent from the Butler rally.
Why?
Then we find out the hospital site where President Trump received treatment after the shooting was poorly secured.
And the hospital site agent could not answer basic questions about site security.
And to date, neither the Secret Service or the DHS has provided answers, and there remain many outstanding questions.
Who within the Secret Service DHS made the decision to deny counter-sniper coverage in the rooftop from which Thomas Crooks shot tried to assassinate President Trump.
When will the Secret Service DHS publicly name the lead site agent for the rally and the lead agent for the Butler visit?
Did this U.S. Secret Service acting service director ever deny resources to the Trump campaign or Secret Service counter-sniper teams as has been reported in the press.
Then we learn about how the rally was treated as a loose security event, which is madness and insanity.
Oh, that law enforcement abandoned the roof because, quote, it was too hot.
You know, that they can lay it down a tarp and you could have a sniper on there, and it wouldn't be so hot as somebody that used to do roofing, you know, in in 90 and 100 degree weather.
It's not fun.
Counter-surveillance division was not present there.
The Butler rally site was known to lack competence.
Secret Service headquarters denied additional manpower resources, those allegations, and the lack of training.
And it goes on from there.
It's terrible.
It's like when you look at this golf course and you see how close Congress Avenue is to the golf course on this particular hole, you realize this person had planned this whole thing out.
And the fact that nobody was watching to make sure that nobody was in the bushes or attempting to get in the bushes, you know, before the president got on the golf course is madness to me.
And then, you know, then we've got other aspects of this too.
Do you know the media will play this on Hannity tonight?
They're actually blaming Donald Trump.
Well, it's his re is he gonna calm down his rhetoric now?
I'm like, what?
What?
This is so sick.
They're so ugly.
This uh this accused gunman hid in this this sniper's nest for twelve hours before he was spotted in what seemed like the moment before he was about to pull the trigger.
These two recent attempts on Trump's life follow a long list of prominent Democrats.
Well, they've called for Trump's assassination.
You know, I think an awful lot about blowing up the White House, you know, or how many Democrats have called President Trump the second coming of Adolf Hitler, you know, or an existential threat to democracy.
Well, what are they saying to people?
Go back to when he first became president.
I think an awful lot about blowing up the White House.
How do you not get in trouble for that?
Or Johnny Depth, you know, invoking you know, John Wilkes Booth.
When's the last time we had an actor assassinate a president?
New York City Shakespeare in the park, publicly funded.
They put on a production of Julius Caesar, and when it came to the scene where the Roman senator stabbed Julius to death, Caesar was dressed in a blue suit, white shirt, red tie, and he had bushy orange hair.
Or Kathy Griffin deciding to get in the act and holding a picture, holding up a bloody decapitated head, or Maxi Waters, you know, saying, you know, with this kind of inspiration, I'll go and take Trump out tonight, and we can go on to Kamala Harris supporting her own insurrection.
The rioters aren't going to stop.
They won't stop.
They shouldn't stop, and we're not going to stop.
You have the wife of a 2019 impeachment witness making fun of yet another Trump assassination.
It's the third time in two months.
And it, you know, it's the former uh impeachment witness wife downplaying this assassination attempt.
Carry on with your Sunday afternoon.
I won't say who it is.
I don't want to get non-public figures involved.
The shooter made no secret his support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
I'm not going to blame Harris and Joe Biden for this, just like I didn't blame Bernie Sanders, you know, for the for the shooting of Steve Scalise.
You blame the person responsible, but that's not how Democrats play the game.
They would they would say Donald Trump, they're even saying it in this case.
This assassin, a longtime Democratic donor, in case you're interested.
He posted on X in 2020, I'll be glad when Trump is gone.
I don't know whether we can infer anything from that.
The assassin's son confirming his dad was a Trump hater.
And I don't like Trump either.
My father hates Trump.
Every reasonable person does.
What did they think they were doing God's will?
You know, we we learned, you know, more and more details about this.
This guy had a criminal record.
It just, it just it it was so planned out, it is actually frightening on a lot of different levels to me.
And then we got the news media in this country.
You know, you got critics.
I mean, you got vile NBC ABC, the second, you know, Trump's assassination attempt.
They try to tie it to his rhetoric.
Well, what did he say that talked about assassination?
I heard just the opposite from him.
Lester Holt directly tying the failed shooting, you know, you know, to the to the rhetoric and blaming Trump for the latest, albeit failed attempt on his life.
The same with, you know, MSDNC.
You know, the media mob wasting no time doing this or insinuating it is probably the better way to put it.
Lindsay Davis on World News Tonight doing doing similar things.
MSDNC blaming Trump.
You know, you have one anchor over there and uh and a guest saying Trump supporters and the Trump error for the extremism and rhetoric that led to Trump getting shot.
Oh, so Trump's responsible.
I got it.
That's how the media thinks in this country.
It is sick, it is ugly, it is despicable.
Anyway, 800 941 Sean is on number.
We expect a press conference to get an update on the latest law enforcement discoveries on this.
