Coming up next, our final news roundup and information overload hour.
All right, news roundup, information overload hour.
Toll for your numbers, 800-941-Sean on this Friday.
We'll get to more of your calls coming up this hour for sure.
You know, it's kind of amazing.
Most of you know that I'm a big music lover.
I love contemporary Christian music.
I love country music.
Country has been a staple favorite of mine for decades, and I just love it.
I have for a long, long time.
And what's amazing is now how country music is gotten right into the heart of and the nerve center of a cultural war that's been going on in the country and all things woke.
And, you know, you say, if you go woke, you go broke.
Well, we have example after example.
You know, talk to Bud Light about how that Dylan Alvaney campaign worked out for them or talk to Target.
Their recent earnings call did not go particularly well because they too have gone woke and so has many other places.
Even Skittles now is under fire, the candy, which I haven't had in years and years.
But it's just fascinating what's happening, how people have gravitated to music.
And music that has a message is now more popular than it's ever been.
I mean, maybe I can liken it to any other time in history that I can think of where music impacted the culture this way is maybe in the 1960s.
But anyway, you know, I'll get to these other songs.
We have Try That in a Small Town.
We saw the controversy of Jason Aldean.
Yeah, that controversy, what did it do?
It rocketed Try That in a Small Town to number one all over the country, the number one song in the country.
You've had now in the last couple of weeks this incredible new song.
I'd never heard of Oliver Anthony before.
Now he's got a fan in Sean Hannity with the release of his Rich Men North of Richmond.
We'll talk about that story in a minute.
We'll also talk to our friend John Rich.
He's got a whole new complete album out on a lot of this with songs like Progress and Shut Up About Politics and Earth to God, which you know I love.
A dime ain't worth a nickel.
If you haven't seen the video Earth to God, you've got to see it.
It's so good.
And anyway, the latest song that's pissing off the left apparently is I'm Offended.
Well, too bad.
Nobody's forcing you to watch a TV show, listen to a radio show, or listen to a song.
But I think you in my audience are going to love this song.
Take a listen.
It seems like these days, no matter what you say, someone's losing their ever-loving mind.
It's like they're looking for a reason to have their fragile feelings hurt every single time.
My country drops.
I gas it up.
You got your fancy Tesla hook up to a flood.
I know you're mad.
You think I'm bad?
Cause I'm breathing three at last.
And you're still stuck behind your mask.
And I'm offended.
You're banded.
Let's all get a banded tonight.
I'll order us some beer.
We can sit down right here and scream and yell and cuss and buzz and fight.
Now hang on just a minute.
You can't mend the First Amendment.
You're offended.
I defend it all the time.
So let's take another sip.
Don't hold back and let it rip.
Cause in the end, you'll be lifting out.
I'm offended.
You're offended.
Let's all get offended tonight.
I'll order us some beer.
We can sit down right here and scream and yell and cuss and buzz and fight.
Yeah, I like to shoot my 22.
Somehow it seems always trigger you.
I pray to God.
Earth to God.
Come in, God.
I know you're there hearing our prayers wherever you are.
We need you now to send your love down.
Take away the pain in your holy name.
We ask this now.
We need your light.
We need your love to heal the world you made.
And save us now in our darkest town with your amazing grace.
Earth to God.
We're holding on, but not for long.
Can you pull us all close to the Holy Ghost and keep us strong?
We need your light.
We need your love to heal the world you made.
And save us now in our darkest town with your amazing grace.
That's all for John Rich's new CD.
And obviously, get it wherever you get your music.
First song, I'm Offended.
Earth to God.
I just, I love, I love all your songs.
You know what?
I wish I could do what you do.
If I had my pick of things to do in life, I want to be you in my next life.
Can I do that?
We'll switch roles.
We could try, Sean, but I don't know that I could talk for four hours a day.
You definitely can.
Are you kidding?
You got it in you, man.
Appreciate the compliment, brother.
Thank you for having me on.
You know, it's amazing.
Do you see what I'm seeing?
I mean, you write these songs and you get political and they bubble and fizz and they melt down and they get triggered and then they get angry.
And then your songs shoot up to number one.
It's hilarious to watch it.
And it's happening not just to you, but to Jason Aldean, this guy, Oliver Anthony, who just blew the world away with his new song.
Yeah.
You know what it is?
Is the music industry, especially as of late?
I mean, it is, it's all edited.
They're not letting the artists say what they want to say most of the time.
It's censored.
It's homogenized.
It is angled and slanted.
And so when you get people like myself who no longer work with the big companies, or you get a guy like Oliver Anthony who's literally just singing out in a field somewhere, the American people, we the people, get a dose of the truth, man.
They're not used to hearing that.
They're not used to being allowed to hear those kinds of things.
So when they hear them, buddy, they respond in mass.
And I think it's kind of a renaissance right now for true speakers in music.
And I'm proud to be a part of it.
Do you know Oliver Anthony?
I do.
So I reached out to him early on.
We've spoken on the phone pretty much every day since the song came out.
You know, he doesn't have any company with him.
Matter of fact, he's telling all the big companies no thank you, which I'm really happy.
I want you to explain this.
Wasn't he offered millions and millions of dollars to be signed?
Yes, he's been offered millions and millions of dollars several times for him to sign it.
And so I asked him, what do you say to somebody when they offer you millions of dollars?
And he says, well, my question to them is millions of dollars in exchange for what?
And I said, well, what if he's given complete, total artistic license to do whatever he wants to record companies?
At that point, they're legally bound to put out whatever he puts out.
Yeah, that's not going to happen.
So here's the interesting irony.
These record labels, if Oliver Anthony had walked into a record label in Nashville and sang Richman North of Richmond in somebody's office to try to get a record deal, they would have probably had him escorted out and said that you've triggered everybody in the building and violated our safe space.
No thank you.
Jeez.
Well, you know what that's going to result in?
Now, you're just kicking ass.
You're taking no prisoners, no holds barred.
And you know what?
Your career speaks for itself.
I mean, hit after hit after hit after hit.
And you're independent.
I still see you selling out, you know, arenas all across the country, John Rich, you and Big Kenny.
Yeah, people are showing up in droves.
I mean, nothing has slowed down.
And here's the thing: freedom of speech is a real thing.
I think we, the people, we've now seen that we, the people, can destroy something.
We've seen brands get absolutely destroyed out here.
What I want to see now is that same spirit in building things.
I think you're seeing that with Oliver Anthony.
They're building this guy into something just massive because he deserves it.
He's an important voice.
They're building me.
They're building my music into something big.
I love it.
It's like if you go woke, you go broke.
They boycott a song of yours, Jason Aldean, or they attack this Oliver Anthony, or to totally, you know, befuddled why this song is successful.
Let me play his song.
It's called Richmond North of Richmond.
And this thing has been viral.
Now, remember, he's been offered millions and millions of dollars to sign with these record companies.
He's like, no, thanks.
I'm going to do it on my own.
Listen.
I've been selling my soul, working all day over time hours for bullshit pay.
So I can sit out here and waste my life away.
Drive back home and drown my troubles away.
It's a damn shame.
What the world's gotten to people like me, people like you.
Wish I could just wake up and not be true.
But it is all it is.
Living in the new world.
Wanna know what you think.
Wanna know what you do.
Look out, not just mine.
I mean, John Rich, like I watch your videos over and over again.
I watch this video, and all he's doing is playing the guitar out in the field, man, and I'm blown away by it.
Yeah, that's because it's the real McCoy, Sean.
You know, we are proving song by song that you don't have to bend the knee to the liberal music industry to connect with the people anymore.
Thank God for that blessing, because so many songs, and especially this guy, would never be heard if it wasn't just for the American people stepping forward and supporting what he does.
It's a beautiful time to make music, man, and I'm proud to be where I'm at, an independent guy.
I've got friends like you that'll play my music and tell your listeners, hey, John's got a new record.
Man, that's all you can ask for, and then the people decide who gets to win and who doesn't.
Yeah.
By the way, where do you get John Rich music?
So anywhere you get your music, iTunes, Amazon Music, all the regular places, it's a whole record, the country truth.
So it's got Progress, Earth to God.
I'm Offended, which we played.
I'm Offended is a brand new one, and then a bunch of other new songs that people haven't heard yet.
I would say go get the whole record.
I mean, you're going to love every song on the record.
And again, it makes a statement to the music industry that, hey, we the people are stronger than you are.
All right, quick break more with our friend John Rich on the other side.
Toll free our numbers, 800-941-SHAWN, if you want to be a part of the program as we continue.
Hey there, I'm Mary Catherine Hamm.
And I'm Carol Markowitz.

That's why we started Normally, a podcast for people who are over the hysteria and just want clarity.
We talk about the issues that actually matter to the country without panic, without yelling, and with a healthy dose of humor.

All right, we continue with John Rich now.
He's now released his recent CD.
He's got a whole CD out.
I recommend getting the whole CD, but his latest single, I'm Offended, is hilarious, but it's also great music.
And Earth to God, you got to love.
And every other song on this CD.
It's great.
What about this idea?
Jason Aldeen, John Rich, and Oliver Anthony, the new rebel tour of the music.
What are we going to call this?
The anti-woke, pro-truth.
Screw you.
We don't give a damn what you think, tour of 2024.
I don't know that there's a stadium big enough for that.
If I could snap my fingers, I would add this man to the lineup, Mr. Charlie Daniels.
Can you imagine?
Oh, God.
Could you imagine?
I love Charlie.
We miss him.
God, that would be the ultimate.
But you know what?
We're moving on in the spirit of Charlie Daniels, the artist you're talking about.
Amen.
Myself included.
That man was not afraid of the system or government or of anything.
He just did what he did and said what he said, and that's why we loved him.
Charlie Soapbox.
Miss it.
I know his son Charlie Jr.'s right now.
But John Rich, we love it, man.
Appreciate it.
Again, wherever you get your music, you're going to love I'm Offended, Earth to God, this great new release, all these new releases.
We appreciate you being with us, my friend.
Thanks, Sean.
Take care, brother.
800-941-Sean, if you want to be a part of the program, abortion activists.
Okay, they've been, you know, they offer attacks on the pro-life community.
And by the way, you might even be investigated if you dare stand up for your beliefs and speak out peacefully.
But you know what?
The issue of abortion is so much bigger.
It's a heart issue.
I've always said it's a heart issue.
And one of the things that's now become a ministry, and it's really successful.
They're saving over 200 babies' lives a week because they're using the science of 4D ultrasound.
And they're offering free ultrasounds to any expecting mom.
They also offer counseling services.
And when the baby's born, they offer, you know, help if you need help with diapers or formula or whatever, whatever you need.
They're helping.
They don't get a penny from the federal government.
But when expecting moms see what's the miracle of birth inside them and they see fingers and toes and facial features of the babies and hear heartbeats and can see heartbeats, man, it just, they choose life in overwhelming percentages.
And you can help this great cause, this mission, because they rely completely on your generosity to continue it.
I just got two 4D ultrasound machines for two of their facilities, and I'm going to buy them more.
Anyway, just go and dial pound250, say the keyword baby, and you can donate.
They won't get money like Planned Parenthood does from the federal government.
They count entirely on your support.
Pound250, keyword baby, their website, preborn.com slash Sean.
That's preborn.com slash Sean S-E-A-N.

All right, we continue.
You know, it's really fascinating.
Linda, I know you love music too.
I mean, you sang in a band.
How many years did you sing at weddings and in a band?
How many years you do that?
17.
Wow.
I think you probably did more weddings than me.
Although the years that I worked as a bartender at a wedding factory, I did five weddings a weekend.
Do one on Friday night, two on Saturday, two on Sunday.
And people would say, well, how did you do that?
Because they had four weddings going on in this facility at any one given time.
Which, quite frankly, if you've ever been in a facility like that, we used to call them wedding factories.
I mean, it's a disaster.
It sounds terrible.
They sell these parties to these people.
And I would be like, okay.
The sound at the place I work was not a problem.
They actually had pretty good acoustics.
Yeah, it wasn't terrible.
All I ever heard, if they had a DJ and we were a band, was the DJ competing with us and trying to blow us out.
It was ridiculous.
No, and they were, you know, separate enough that you didn't have wedding parties running into each other.
But look, I became cynical with all these weddings, you know, because I mean, every family has an Uncle Joe.
That's the guy that's going to be, all right, kid, I want a double scotch and keep them coming.
And by the end of the night, his shirt is half buttoned and he's got his tie, you know, around his forehead and he's dancing to celebrate good times.
Come on.
You know, all the classic.
I mean, listen, I mean, I hate to say it.
I still love that song.
There are a few songs that I still love.
I mean, you can't hate Motown ever, in my humble opinion.
Motown is a lot of fun.
I love Motown.
I'm going to make everybody happy.
There are songs that I did sing at Nausea, Last Dance.
What did you sing?
You sang songs.
You're funny.
You're funny.
Yeah.
You want to talk about My Mantis X rating too while we're at it?
We're just getting it all out of the way.
Get it out of your system.
Linda sang songs when she was this.
I did.
I sang songs and I love them.
Or you would say songs.
I sang songs.
Yeah, that sounds good.
Anywho.
But yeah, no, I mean, you sang a song, not songs.
I used to do, I started out doing Barn Bottom Mitzvahs.
I was a party hype dancer.
That's hilarious.
And that was how I started doing this stuff.
And then I started singing at those things.
All right.
What were you going to say?
Last dance the Donna Summer hit?
Yeah, Last Dance was a huge request.
What was the other one?
Why don't you sing it a little bit?
No, I'm not doing that today.
Thank you.
I can't coax you into doing that.
Not today.
Not today.
No, today's not the day.
All right.
Well, so we played John Rich's new songs and we talked about how this cultural phenomenon where country music is now impacting the cultural wars and the anti-going up against the anti-woke movement.
And all of a sudden liberals boycott and a magical thing happens.
Those songs race to number one.
Another example of this was Try That in a Small Town by Jason Aldean.
Now, Jason Aldean is not independent like Oliver Anthony and John Rich.
And I'm only legally allowed to play 30 seconds of the song.
And if anybody knows Jason Aldean, can you please tell Jason to call a stupid record company and tell them I'd play the whole song if they just allow me to play it for Crying Out Loud.
But here's my 30 allowed legal seconds of try that in a small town.
And it's basically, you know, if you try it, people are going to put up with this crap.
That's all it is.
And the way it got portrayed by the media was so twisted, sick, and triggered, it was unreal.
Let me play some of it.
I mean, it's a deplorable song and it's annoying.
Got a gun that my granddad gave me.
They say one day they're going to round up.
Well, that S might fly in the city.
Good luck.
It's very divisive and provocative.
What I thought of when I read that was Ahmaud Arbery.
I think of a black man in a small town in the South who literally just got shot for doing nothing wrong.
Now the Republicans backing him up are buying into that same reality of, okay, we're going to do racist things.
We're going to do harmful things that target violence towards black and brown people.
This song is about normalizing racist violence, vigilanteism, and white nationalism.
This is a lynching anthem.
This is the typical Hollywood, New York City, pompous, arrogant, elitist, these snobs that they have no idea what they are talking about.
They don't understand America.
They don't understand, you know, flyover country, as people used to call it.
They just don't.
Yeah, there are plenty of ignorant, racist, violent people all over every blue city and every blue state in the country.
And yes, sometimes they exist in other towns, but that is not America.
And that's not what this song was about ever.
And the way they portrayed it and tried to cancel it, well, good job.
You shot it right up to number one on the charts.
Awesome for Jason Aldean.
All right, let's get to our phones here.
Let's say hi to Beverly is in New York.
Beverly, how are you?
You know the arrogant liberal leftists.
Do they not even look at what's going on in their own town, their own cities, the violence all over the streets of New York City, the subways of New York City?
And they don't know the names of anybody shot in any of these cities unless they can politicize it.
Yeah, it's a crazy situation.
Thankfully, I'm in Albany, so I don't have to deal with that most of the time.
Well, a saner part of New York for sure.
What's going on?
Although you do have the capital there.
What's going on?
Well, I also have a place in Florida.
So I live in one of the most liberal and one of the most deaf states.
So at least it keeps me a little bit balanced.
So what's on your mind today?
What's this Friday?
What is it?
So I can't stand what Trump is going through.
I think it's horrifying.
It's maddening.
The blatant injustice, the hypocrisy, I can't stand it.
However, I believe that our country getting back on track has to be that priority.
Putting someone in the White House who has conservative principles, who will put in some policies that will help us getting going in the right direction is just of the utmost importance.
And while we can support Trump and all of what is going on with his legal issues and continually pointing out the injustice and the hypocrisy, I just wish that he would step aside so that we can focus on the things that we need to to get our country back on track, like the debt, like the economy, like our military.
And I'm not saying don't support him.
I'm saying if you stepped aside, we'd be able to support these candidates, these good candidates, and get them through the primaries.
And hopefully, and I do believe that if someone would emerge that could then defeat whoever the Dems put up there, whether it's Biden or somebody else.
Because my concern is too many people will stay home and that Trump is so divisive and that he, even if he does make it through all of this, it'd just be better for our country to be able to put that on a shelf and let's focus on the things that we have to do to make our country great again.
Do you think they're treating Donald Trump unfairly?
Do you think that this is a weaponized Department of Justice and a politicized one?
Absolutely.
Do you think that they treated Hillary Clinton differently on the document issue, top secret classified information?
Did they treat Joe Biden differently than Donald Trump?
Absolutely.
And do you think that what they're trying to pull off in New York, we don't even know what they're really charging him in New York, but, you know, payments of $135,000.
Do you think that this is, you know, this is politicized, weaponized use of our legal system?
Yes, definitely.
And do you think this RICO charge where you have to prove criminal intent on these charges, do you think that's politically driven and motivated?
Absolutely.
So then let me ask you this next question.
This is an important question.
If you believe that they are doing this to somebody, and you know that the Trump-Russia collusion that John Durham concluded, that Operation Crossfire Hurricane never should have been open, there wasn't one provable statement in the dirty Clinton disinformation dossier from Christopher Steele, and that it was then used wrong, it was wrongfully used, even though they couldn't verify it.
They put it in a FISA application.
It wouldn't have been approved, according to Andrew McCabe, then deputy FBI director, without the dossier.
Do you believe that they persecuted Donald Trump falsely for three long years and the media mob and Democrats perpetrated lies, misinformation, conspiracy theories to take him down?
I do believe all that, yes.
Okay.
So if you think all of this is happening, why would you then say we should punish the guy it's happening to?
First of all, it's not punishment because it would have to be his choice.
So, but the problem is, is that we're all focusing on the legal issues.
And you're wondering if your fellow Americans are as informed as you and could answer the questions that I asked you in the same way, right?
Answer them the same way.
They're not that informed.
I'm sorry to interrupt, but they are not informed, generally speaking.
They're living their lives and they're not paying attention.
I hear what you're saying, and it creates a fear that, okay, even though this guy is treated unfairly, if the Republican Party nominates him, his odds of winning are lower because of all the false things that they've done to him, in your view.
Is that a fair statement?
I would say that's fair.
Yeah.
I mean, what does that tell us about the state of the country?
Think about that.
What you're saying is very profound.
It's not.
In other words, they get rewarded for abusing our criminal justice system.
That's what you're saying.
No, I'm Noah, Noah.
That's not what I'm saying.
Because you're right.
Him stepping aside would be rewarding.
I think that's part of their goal.
I think part of their goal is to make this kind of like wag the dog, right?
Keep this legal stuff all out there so nobody that is paying attention and who isn't already fed up with all of it.
How many people have stopped listening?
Because it's so much.
It's overwhelming.
Well, I will tell you, the way it's designed now is all the trials that will take place in unfriendly venues with the exception of Florida will take place in this election year coming up.
And any appeals, which is where I think Donald Trump has a much better chance of winning, that would take place post-election.
But that would achieve their goal, wouldn't it?
To bloody him up to such a point that people would think, oh, he's been found guilty.
Is it, you know, and look, if we don't have equal justice and application of our laws, we don't have a country.
We don't have a constitution that's working.
That's sad to me, but very enlightening.
Thank you, Beverly.
Appreciate it.
I just want to get one more call on this Friday.
So Sean is with us.
And so Sean is from Tennessee.
How are you?
I'm fine.
Thank you, Sean, for taking my call.
I wanted to let you know, first of all, I don't believe in violence at all.
I don't.
Neither do I, unless it's to defend yourself or your family.
Amen.
I do want to agree with Linda as far as what she said yesterday about the flash mob.
You know, the word mob is right there in it.
You know, and what is a mob, but a large group of people who are doing things they normally wouldn't do on their own because they didn't have the guts.
But through that crowd or that mob, they gain that strength.
And, you know, they're very unpredictable and they're dangerous.
And so when you're attacked by a mob, you cannot sit quietly and take that.
You know, you have to teach your children right away that you need to be strong, you need to stand tall.
In the face of fear, you need to stand tall, be seen, be heard, do what's right.
You know, I've taught my daughter, I have a 30-year-old daughter, and I taught her that, yes, there are going to be times in life when you're going to be faced with fear, and sometimes it's scary and you don't know what to do, but you cannot back down.
You cannot back down and say, fear, I'm so tired of everybody being so mean and wild.
You need to be firm and bold.
And, you know, I think you need to be firm, bold.
You know, don't fear speaking up, standing on your core beliefs.
But I urge everybody to be peaceful in doing it.
I mean, you know, we have an opportunity to have a peaceful transfer of power, and that means winning an election.
And that's where I'm putting all my focus and attention.
You know, I've never really been one to champion boycotts, cancellations, firings, gatherings.
I just encourage people to do their civic duty and go out and vote for the best person that's running for office and stand on your principles.
And that means Republicans have to vote, embrace voting early, voting by mail, and they got to get in the ballot harvesting business, the legal ballot harvesting business, and match the Democratic Party's efforts, or they will start out Election Day behind by hundreds of thousands of votes, and that becomes untenable.
And I've also recommended that they understand that abortion is a big issue in some of these swing states.
And, you know, find that middle ground, even though it's not what you would fully want yourself.
It's that big an issue, and I think it played a big part in 2022.
Anyway, I do appreciate the call.
What a crazy week this has been.
Next week is going to be busy too.
We're going to be in Wisconsin on Wednesday for the Fox debate.
I'll be doing the after-show.
They never let me host the debate.
Although I'm hosting a debate, hopefully, with Newsome and DeSantis.
That'll be pretty interesting.
You looking forward to that, Linda?
I am always looking forward to seeing Governor DeSantis kick some booty.
All right.
And that should be interesting.
Red versus blue, California versus Florida.
I think that's, they've been sniping at each other forever.
So anyway, it's not even a fair match, by the way, but hey.
We'll give you more details.
Have a great weekend.
We're just out of time.
We will see you back here on Monday.
Thank you for making this show possible.
You want smart political talk without the meltdowns?
We got you.
I'm Carol Markowitz, and I'm Mary Catherine Ham.
We've been around the block in media, and we're doing things differently.
Normally, it is about real conversations.
Thoughtful, try to be funny, grounded, and no panic.
We'll keep you informed and entertained without ruining your day.
