	If you go back in his life, his life in December 2005 was just completely turned upside down.
	And a Humvee that he was in ran over an IED.
	He suffered burns over 80% of his body.
	Israel del Toro is with us.
	His new book called Patriots Promise is Out.
	You know, I thought I knew a lot about you, Israel, and we've known each other.
	How many years have we known each other?
	A long time now.
	I got a long time.
	I know.
	I've known you.
	I've been stuck with you, Hannity, for a long time.
	It's been a good, good stuck, though.
	I cannot complain of our friendship.
	Well, I'm honored that you would consider me a friend.
	I know you like Linda better than me because you like talk to her every day.
	It's ridiculous.
	But I want to talk about this.
	Just in your own words, tell that story.
	Take us back to December 5th, 2005, when your Humvee ran over that IED and what you remember from that point to the point you got out of your coma.
	Yeah, so I got, you know, I was on a Michigan scout team, and we're on our way back to pick up the second half.
	Well, we crossed this creek, and I went 200 meters.
	They would cross this creek to feel an intense heat blast on my left side.
	And I was like, holy crap, I just got hit.
	And but, you know, I get out of the truck, but when I got out of the truck, I was on fire from head to toe.
	But I knew there was that creek behind me, so I turned to run to it, but the flames overtook me, and I collapsed.
	I'm thinking, well, this is it.
	This is it for me.
	And I'm just thinking to myself, like, man, I broke my promise to my family to always come back.
	I broke my promise to my son that I'll never let him grow up without his dad like I did.
	But most importantly, I'll break my promise to my dad I made to him so many years ago that I will always take care of my family.
	And then my teammate tells me I said, GT, you're not going to die here.
	And we jumped into the creek.
	And the sound I heard was the same sound you hear when you put a hot pan in cold water, but instead of a pan, it was my body.
	But my journey didn't stop there because it was a planned ambush.
	As soon as I got hit, my teammates are calling for help because I'm the guy that causes the airstrikes.
	You know, I'm that guy.
	And they're like, we need close air support.
	And so I had to figure out what to do.
	And because I remember remembering that promise again to my dad, take care of your family.
	Yes, that first started with my brothers and sisters.
	But that started to evolve to my teammates.
	And my teammates are my brothers.
	I got to take care of them.
	So here you are.
	I mean, 80% of your body burned.
	Do you remember the level of pain or at that moment was adrenaline just taking over?
	I think adrenaline was taking over because I didn't really, yes, my leg hurt a lot, but nothing big.
	It wasn't until when that last transmission went out when I started getting scared and starting to have a hard time breathing and I wanted to sleep.
	I was just tired.
	And I just told him, I told him, Medic, let me just fall asleep.
	But he knew if he let me fall asleep, I'll never wake up.
	So he kept me up.
	He knew what my spark was.
	I like to say we all have a spark, which is kind of ironic.
	Here's a burn guy saying we all have a spark, but we do.
	And he knew it was my son.
	So he used that to keep me awake until a matter of fact came.
	And I remember they wanted to carry me into a helicopter.
	I was like, oh, hell no.
	I walked into this fight.
	I'm going to walk out of it.
	So I got into a helicopter.
	I remember the flight.
	Remember the lantern, our forward operating base.
	And then I'm taking me to a little field hospital.
	The doctor cutting off my watch and telling me you're going to be okay.
	And that was December 4th, 2005.
	I wake up March of 2006.
	And it's amazing that you even remember all of that to me.
	I mean, that's pretty amazing.
	When you woke up, because again, I just happen to know a lot about the treatment for burn victims because of what my sister did.
	My sister could only do it for a number of years, and it was emotionally so painful because every day she'd go to work, she had to inflict pain on burn victims by taking off these bandages.
	And I'm sure you understand what that means.
	Yeah, you know, most people don't realize that it ain't the burns that kill us.
	It's the infection.
	So what your sister did and what my nurse said, having to change your bandages constantly so you don't get an infection and not realizing that also when you're burned, your skin becomes hypersensitive.
	That's where you get all that pain.
	Well, that's where all the nerves are right there.
	I mean, it's like ripping it off.
	But this is 80% of your body, including, you know, your face.
	Yeah.
	But, you know, the one thing I, you know, I even gave, I gave, I gave, I always give praise to my nurses that were there because for me, nighttime was the worst for me.
	I hated the nighttime in the ICU when I was finally awake.
	But I knew I had these two nurses, one with named Bonnie, the other one was named Kim.
	My nights felt like they were going to be okay.
	And I praise those nurses that did that.
	You know, your sister may not know it, but us patients, we remember our nurses that took care of us.
	And for that, when they were there working nights, I knew I was going to be okay.
	I never had the fear.
	I was like, am I going to wake up the next morning?
	Because they are, they're angels, brothers.
	They really are.
	But, you know, you're the one going through the pain.
	And one other thing that she told me, and you have told me in the past, there's no amount of pain medicine that makes it easier.
	It just doesn't work at some point.
	Yeah, it does because eventually your body starts getting used to it.
	And, you know, I was what they want, you know, it's like, well, we've got to get him more, but we can't get him more.
	He's going to get addicted to it.
	And so you have to eventually learn how to kind of tolerate as much pain as you can possibly take so you can get better and recover and get back into society.
	Or in my case, get back to my boy.
	And by the way, and I would say through no fault of the patients, you know, a lot of patients come out of this addicted to pain medicine.
	And it's not their fault.
	It's the only way that they could cope with this never-ending perpetual pain for, in some cases, that goes on for years.
	It's very true.
	Yeah, a lot of guys would get addicted.
	But for me, I knew I didn't want to get addicted.
	So I would, you could say, suck it up, you know, the pain and tolerate it because I didn't want to get addicted.
	I didn't want to be that guy that, you know, was just, you know, sitting on the couch just high as a kite and couldn't function without pain.
	I didn't want to be that because I wanted to be an example to my son, just like how my dad was an example to me.
	That's what I wanted to do.
	One of the cool things, we often promote Tunnel to Towers and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
	And everybody here at Team Hannity, we've committed to 11 bucks a month.
	I actually just give one donation a year and make it easy.
	And, you know, so, and that is the only way that they can build homes for people.
	They built well over a thousand now, and they're starting the Lando Lakes, you know, community where they're going to have 100 families living together, those that lost fathers and mothers and those with severe injuries like you had.
	And they stepped up and they took care of your family home.
	They did.
	I know that for years they tried to get me to say yes.
	And I just, I felt like, no, you know, other guys needed it more than me.
	Or, you know, I just, you know, because I do charity work, you know, because I want to give back.
	I want to honor that promise I made to my dad and take care of your family.
	And I didn't want people to think, oh, man, they're just, you just do all this work, so people give you stuff.
	And so I've never felt, you can say, worthy.
	And it took, you know, mentors to kind of finally convince me.
	It's like, DT, let these guys do something for you.
	You do so much for guys out there.
	Let someone do something for you.
	And yeah, they did it for me.
	And in October of last year, I got to move into my new adaptive home.
	Tell us about when you met your son after months being apart because of your injuries.
	What was that like?
	You know, people don't realize, you know, as a burnt patient, they cover the mirrors.
	They want it easier to your new life, what you're going to look like.
	And by the way, I need to tell everybody.
	I mean, your whole face was burned out.
	The whole face.
	Yeah, people see my face now and think that's what I looked like when I woke from my coma, but it's not.
	My face, I had to.
	Well, I just want you to know when I look at you, I see a beautiful man.
	And beforehand, I don't know.
	We really weren't that good looking.
	Oh, I'm teasing.
	But, you know, they want to easy and just transition of your new phase.
	Well, how hard was that for you before we talk about your son?
	How hard was seeing the damage that was done?
	You know, I broke down.
	I never wished I died until that day.
	And it wasn't a vanity thing.
	It wasn't.
	It was like.
	You don't have to make an excuse.
	I think everybody could understand when your face is just totally, completely burned.
	But it wasn't that, really, Sean.
	It was like, man, if I thought, you know, at the time I was 30 years old, if I think I'm a monster, what's my three-year-old son going to think?
	You know, my son was everything for me, man.
	And for him to be afraid of me broke me.
	Literally broke me.
	But luckily, I had my wife there.
	And I had my physical therapist, Gary, who was there by my side trying to get me out of that rabbit hole.
	And, you know, they used everything.
	It's like, DT, you know how many people you inspire, how hard you work to learn how to walk again and go through all this painful therapy.
	You inspired people.
	I was like, I don't care.
	I want to die.
	And it wasn't until, you know, they said, DT, all your boy wants is his June timeframe.
	You know, I walk into the house.
	Now, he's three years old at the time, if I'm not mistaken.
	That's correct.
	He's three years old.
	And I walk in, I look like a mommy.
	You know, I was wrapped up all up to my neck and I had a baseball hat.
	And my wife calls him.
	It's like, Buedo, which is the little nickname we have for him.
	It's like, hey, Poppy's here.
	And he comes running out.
	And he sees me and stops.
	And all that fear comes rushing back.
	I'm like, oh my God, he's terrified of me.
	And he looks at me, tucks his head to his side and says, Poppy, it's like, yeah, buddy.
	And he comes up and gives me the most amazing hug I've ever had in my life.
	The most amazing moment besides seeing him being born.
	And I remember my wife saying, don't hurt your dad.
	I'm like, quiet woman, let me hold my boy.
	But they were right.
	My boy didn't care what his dad looked like.
	He just wanted his dad back in.
	Hey, it was an amazing moment, brother.
	And it still tears me up thinking about it.
	You know, I'm just, you never cease to amaze me.

	So I am getting sick and tired of this hack and blowhard and loudmouth that used to be the governor of New Jersey that left with a 14% approval rating that says he's running for president, that is just loved by the media mob.
	He's over there at Liberal Morning Joe.
	He's all over Good Morning America with his buddy Georgie Stephanopoulos.
	He's all over fake news, CNN.
	I know Fox has had him on.
	I'm not having him on because he's not really running for president.
	He's running for the effort, and this is why the media mob loves him.
	His sole effort here is to bludgeon Donald Trump and be loved by the media for it.
	The same media that tried to destroy him.
	I mean, it's like it's invasion of the body snatchers or the Stockholm syndrome.
	And, you know, so he's out there challenging Trump.
	Oh, Donald Trump is afraid to debate me.
	I'd kick Trump's ass in the ring.
	Okay.
	You know what, Chris?
	You're so pompous.
	It's such a big blowhard.
	Nobody wants to hear from you that's a real conservative.
	Why don't you aim if you're that concerned about the country?
	Why aren't you going after Joe Biden?
	Why weren't you this way with Hillary Clinton?
	Why did you hug Barack Obama before the 2012 elections after Hurricane Sandy?
	And you didn't have to go that overboard.
	And by the way, I still have questions about Bridgegate, although it's been adjudicated.
	I have questions for you about it, but I'm not even going to waste my time asking you.
	Or the fact that you shut down beaches and then you plop your ass down on your own beach chair while everyone else in New Jersey can't go to the beach.
	I'm just sick and tired of this guy.
	And you know what?
	He's running for one reason, and he'll get the funding to get in the debates.
	Only problem for him is Donald Trump has a 30-35% lead in the polls.
	He's not debating any of you.
	He's not getting on the stage with 11 people that have one intention, which is to attack him.
	And some people say, you know, he really needs to do this.
	I kind of understand why he's not.
	I mean, I don't think Joe Biden's going to be debating Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
	or Marianne Williamson or Cornell West either.
	But anyway, just listen to, you know, the never-ending, I hate Trump, I hate Trump.
	I'm running on I Hate Trump montage of this blowhard.
	That is what Donald Trump is like most of the time, constantly rationalizing his own bad behavior, justifying what he's doing at the very moment that he's doing it, even when he knows it's wrong.
	I listened to Donald Trump's speech last night, and he had the audacity to say that he got indicted for us.
	Now, I don't know how it benefited the American people for him to take highly sensitive intelligence and secret documents out of the White House.
	Why do you think he's not using his own money to pay for his little thing?
	Because he's the cheapest person I've ever met in my life.
	Trump won the nomination.
	We cannot let that happen this time, and I will not let it happen this time.
	I'm going to take him on directly.
	And Donald Trump better show up on that stage because if he doesn't, he's telling everybody that he's afraid to defend his record and he's afraid to face the men and women on that stage.
	And I don't want a coward being nominated against Joe Biden.
	You think he's a danger to the country?
	Well, I don't want him to be president, so yeah.
	Two fighting.
	If you and Trump got in the ring, he loves his USC and stuff like that, right?
	If you got on the octagon, you and him, who'd win?
	Come on.
	Guy's 78 years old.
	I'd kick his ass.
	Okay, I'll get in the octagon with Chris Christie.
	I'm not 78.
	You think he'd go in the ring with me, Linda?
	I don't know if he can fit in that ring, but sure.
	Let's give it a shot.

	I don't see any reason to be nice to him.
	He doesn't deserve it.
	You know, I mean, and to call Trump a coward.
	I'm like, dude, you let two of your former aides who are two of your closest confidants?
	Well, in fairness, they got off the hook.
	They did, but they took the fall.
	They were the fall guys.
	Yeah.
	Well, I have a lot of questions regarding that.
	You know what?
	All I have to say is he left office with a 14% approval rating.
	I've never heard of that before for any governor, no matter how bad you are.
	All right, let's get to our busy phones.

	How are you, sir?
	Yes, thank you for taking my call.
	I have two questions on the cocaine White House situation.
	I hope you could answer.
	And if you can't answer, maybe you could ask President Trump next week on your show.
	Okay.
	Chair of the Oversight Committee.
	When the people go into the White House, I know they go through the metal detectors.
	After that, do they get a pat down, you know, like when you're at the airport going into, you know, anything?
	I can answer because I've been to the White House.
	I've been there when George W. Bush was president, and I was there when Trump was president.
	So I can tell you exactly what the process is.
	First, you meet a guard gate and you have to present your identification.
	You also have to be on a list ahead of time.
	You just don't get to say, oh, I'm here to see President Trump or President Bush and he's not expecting you.
	You're not getting in.
	So you have to be on a list.
	And they look through their computer.
	They look at the license.
	They have already done their background check on me.
	Trust me, I know that part too, which is the right thing to do for any president.
	We've got to keep our presidents, elected officials safe, regardless of party.
	I've said that, you know, I've been consistent over the many, many years I've been on radio and TV.
	After that, you are met by somebody from the White House at the guard gate on the other side.
	Now, first they go through your ID, then you have to empty your pockets just like you're getting on an airline.
	You put all your stuff in one of those little boxes, those gray boxes.
	They put it through and they look at everything in great detail.
	They pay a lot of attention.
	I know because I watch them.
	Then on the other side of it, you get wanded.
	And then after you get wanded, then the person that's there to escort you into the White House will escort you into the White House.
	That's what you go through.
	Do they do that with Hunter Biden or is he exempt?
	He might be exempt.
	He might be.
	I don't know the full answer, but it's a great question.
	I'm assuming he's exempt.
	I'm assuming family members are exempt.
	As a matter of fact, there is a back door or side door entrance into the White House.
	But even to get into that parking lot, which is sort of right between the old executive office building and the White House, there's a parking lot.
	You have to be cleared to park there.
	I know because I parked there.
	Well, if he's exempt, let's say they even pat him down.
	What about the president?
	Because Hunter could put the stuff in his father's outside jacket pocket.
	They don't pat you down or maybe throw it in his socks.
	Who knows?
	Like Sandy Berger throwing National Archives records into his socks and his underpants.
	Well, I would say that's probably what happened.
	I would say strong possibility, but you're not allowed to say it.
	Got to keep that quiet.

	I just had a quick comment along the storyline of the cocaine in the White House as well.
	And a quick question, a quick comment is: here about two months here in Northeast Michigan, our little city of like 10,000 people, there was a small baggie of white powder found in front of the self-checkup counter at our Walmart Super Center.
	And with the amazing technology that Walmart has, and our Michigan state police and local sheriffs, they were able to find the person that lost that small baggie of cocaine, arrest him, and charge him.
	So my question is: is it reasonable to think that our Sheriff's Department, State Police here in Michigan, are better at doing their investigative job than our Secret Service is?
	You will never convince me that they couldn't get to the bottom of this.
	Never.
	Because they have video footage of everybody that goes into the West Wing.
	So we know they don't have cameras all over the West Wing, but they have cameras of everybody going in.
	Now, if I was leading that investigation, I'd identify every single solitary person that entered in the days leading up to or the days there, or just figure out the time stamp on when the person put apparently they lost the key to the locker, but I would certainly bring in a locksmith and open it up.
	But you could literally find out who had that particular locker, and there's your answer.
	Well, I would have to believe that they would have to have some kind of video surveillance around those lock boxes for the simple purpose of security to know what's going in them.
	And surely those cameras are better than what we have in our Walmart.
	Listen, I am over my properties that I own because I have a place down in Florida.
	Let me tell you right now, I have cameras everywhere.
	And they've now become very inexpensive.
	The average homeowner can afford them.
	And it's high quality.
	It'll alert your phone to any movement, anybody at your front door, anybody at your back door, wherever you put the cameras.
	So that technology is so widespread, I could only imagine they have the best, the most sophisticated technology that is on the market.
	That's what I would imagine.
	I would imagine the same.
	The scary thing to me is, as I've heard many people comment, including you on your show, is what kind of message does this send bad actors or everybody in the world watching if they can't figure out who took drugs into the White House?
	Hey, listen, when I do town halls and in these town halls, you know, we have a couple, you know, many of them, there's over a thousand people, in some cases, three, four, five thousand people.
	When we do those, everyone has to go through a metal detector.
	Everybody.
	Everybody, you know, and it's not that I feel bad for the people that have to go through it.
	I know it's time-consuming.
	We try to get enough of them there and enough people working the line so we can move it along expeditiously and not inconvenience people.
	But it just has to be done, especially if you're dealing with a former president or a presidential candidate.
	You can't, you know, that's just due diligence.
	Oh, absolutely.
	Security should be paramount.
	But the reason they shut the White House down was they thought possible anthrax.
	Metal detectors aren't going to catch that either.
	So it's still sending a horrible message that somebody could walk in with some kind of contaminant, drugs, whatever it may be.
	If they wanted to find the person, they would find the person.
	It's that simple.
	Exactly right.
	Even if they just, I mean, my personal opinion is, even if they took some, you know, new person, new lower executive person in there and just pinned it on just to have a face, I'd feel better knowing that the White House security caught somebody.
	Even if it was a lie to me, I'd feel better that they caught somebody because they were able to use the technology that's in there and all the investigative techniques that they have.
	I'd feel better personally if they put a name to it rather than saying, we don't know, because we don't know, scares the hell out of me in the White House.
	It scares the hell out of me.
	And we've got to protect our institutions.
	That includes our White House.
	That includes our capital, our elected officials, all of them.
	And we have the means of doing it if we want to.
	That's just simple.
