| Trust me, they're good ones. | ||
| Just bear with me. | ||
| We got some other really cool stuff coming later in the week. | ||
| I'm very excited for this week. | ||
| I know that there's an entire economic worldwide meltdown right now, but there are some good things happening. | ||
| And we're just going to dive right into it today because obviously the main thing going on is that the stock market and the worldwide economic situation is in a bit of a free fall. | ||
| This is really this is one of those moments where for those of you that pay attention to politics and you pay attention to the culture wars and all this stuff and you pick your shows. | ||
| I promise you we are going to try to consistently do this stuff as honestly as possible. | ||
| It's the way I always do it, but I am not an expert in any of this. | ||
| There are people on both sides of the tariffs issue. | ||
| Just last week, we played legendary economist Thomas Sowell, who is against tariffs, to the backdrop of Trump explaining why they are leverage and everything else. | ||
| And this story is not going away. | ||
| I think that you shouldn't freak out. | ||
| That would be my main thing. | ||
| Stock markets go up and down, and this could be a good time to buy. | ||
| But I'm not a financial advisor and we're just going to go with it as it comes. | ||
| And I think that this is going to be a week that we all remember because it does feel like a reordering of how not only worldwide trade works, but our relationships with literally every other country on earth. | ||
| So let's just dive right into it and catch up in case you did not look. | ||
| At any of your financials over the weekend, this is from the Wall Street Journal, turmoil in global markets snowballed into one of the worst routes in recent memory after President Trump said he will stay the course with aggressive, economically disruptive tariffs. | ||
| Stock futures tumbled early Monday with contracts tied to the major US indexes recently down more than 2%, though the declines had been even steeper earlier in the day. | ||
| If the pullback holds through regular trading hours, the broad S&P 500 index would be close to following the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite into a bear market, often defined as following a 20-plus decline from a recent peak. | ||
| Global markets recoiled. | ||
| In Asia, where many economies are highly trade-reliant, stocks plunged. | ||
| Hong Kong's main equity benchmark lost 13% in its worst day since the Asian financial crisis. | ||
| Indexes in Shanghai, Taipei, and Tokyo fell between 7% and 10%. | ||
| The sell-off didn't spare Europe, where stocks Europe 600 sank more than 4%. | ||
| Bitcoin and oil prices fell sharply. | ||
| Treasuries rallied, pushing down yields as investors calculated the Federal Reserve will need to slash interest rates. | ||
| Futures prices, likewise, showed traders stepping up bets on multiple rate cuts this year. | ||
| Early Monday, Trump renewed his call for the Fed to ease policy and said his policies were bringing down oil prices and interest rates. | ||
| U.S. stocks lost $6.6 trillion in value during a two-day washout last week after President Trump announced larger tariffs than Wall Street expected and China said it would match the duties on all U.S.-made goods. | ||
| Okay, so the short of it. | ||
| The short of it is that virtually everyone agrees we have had bad trade deals, right? | ||
| We've been covering this a lot. | ||
| Everyone knows this, right? | ||
| Countries are able to sell their stuff in the United States for decades very cheaply, but for us to export things, countries have tariffs on us and it makes it basically impossible because not only can we not produce things here because we generally, as a capitalist society and as a decent... | ||
| place that America is, we pay our people decently. | ||
| And once you add that tax on the incoming stuff, countries are just like, we don't want anything from America. | ||
| It's very simple. | ||
| We've talked about the 300% to get cheese into Canada or the 700% to get rice into Japan or the 10% to get our cars into the European Union. | ||
| Trump is using the leverage of tariffs, saying, hey guys, If we don't have some equality around some of this stuff or even this out, then you're not going to be able to sell to us. | ||
| And Americans still do consume a lot of stuff. | ||
| That's why every time you go on Amazon, what happens? | ||
| You're able to buy something that is made in China super, super cheap, and you actually pay more for it than they would in, say, India or somewhere else, right? | ||
| Like some piece of crap that you buy that you're like, oh, it is cheaper because it's made in China. | ||
| They still are charging you way more in America than they would in India or some other country. | ||

| Just in, Dow slides 1,600 points. | ||
| S&P 500 loses $2 trillion. | ||
| NASDAQ posts biggest single-day losses since 2020 COVID-19 crash, according to CNBC. | ||
| So, at the moment, there's not much positive to say about all of this, right? | ||
| Because the markets are going down. | ||
| I opened up my app this morning that tracks my financials, and it was rather depressing. | ||
| But the question is, does Trump saying to the world, we are going to fix this stuff, and if you don't fix this stuff and make these trade deals fair, you ain't going to have access to our markets anymore, and that's going to cost you guys. | ||
| Does that bring other countries to the table? | ||
| We'll have a little bit more on that in a moment, but I thought this was interesting from Washington Post. | ||
| Listen to this in terms of Trump's sort of mental state. | ||
| He's at the peak of just not giving an F anymore, said a White House official with knowledge of Trump's thinking. | ||
| Bad news stories doesn't give an F. He's going to do what he's going to do. | ||
| He's going to do what he promised to do on the campaign trail. | ||
| And yes, this is what he promised to do on the campaign trail. | ||
| As a matter of fact, you may remember the video we showed you on Thursday from about 35 years ago when he was on Oprah Winfrey saying that if I was president, I would make sure we had more fair trade deals with these countries because we're getting ripped off all the time. | ||
| So this is exactly what he promised to do on the campaign trail. | ||
| Here he is yesterday. | ||
| Talking about this temporary blip that we're all, no one's denying it, that we're all seeing and we're all looking at and we're all not thrilled with. | ||
| Is there a Trump put though? | ||

| I think your question is so stupid. | ||
| I don't want anything to go down. | ||
| But sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something. | ||

| We have been treated so badly by other countries because we had stupid leadership that allowed this to happen. | ||
| They took our businesses. | ||
| They took our money. | ||
| They took our jobs. | ||
| They moved it to Mexico. | ||
| They moved it to Canada. | ||
| They moved a lot of it to China. | ||
| And it's not sustainable. | ||
| We're not going to do it. | ||
| Now we have hundreds of billions of dollars that's pouring into our country. | ||
| On a monthly basis, it's pouring. | ||
| It's already started because I put tariffs on it. | ||
| And eventually it's going to straighten out and our country will be solid and strong again. | ||
| All right, so first off, I love the way he starts the answer to the question. | ||
| Like, what a stupid question. | ||
| Like, the girl's like, is there some point where you're going to reverse this? | ||
| It's like, what? | ||
| You idiot. | ||
| That's part of the... | ||
| Yes, lady, if it gets this bad, I'll reverse it. | ||
| Then you're giving away all your leverage. | ||
| These people are not bright, thus they are journalists. | ||
| But the broader point, though, is this is exactly what Trump ran on, right? | ||
| We've played you many clips of Trump during the campaign saying there's going to be a pain point. | ||
| We've played you many clips of Elon saying if we're going to fix these things, there's going to be a pain point. | ||
| Do we have a video from maybe, I don't know, two or three months ago of Trump saying there's going to be a pain point? | ||
| No, no, I'm not going to say that. | ||
| We may have short-term... | ||
| A little pain, and people understand that. | ||
| But long term, the United States has been ripped off by virtually every country in the world. | ||
| We have deficits with almost every country. | ||
| Not every country, but almost. | ||
| And we're going to change it. | ||
| It's been unfair. | ||
| That's why we owe $36 trillion. | ||
| We have deficits with everybody. | ||
| We help everybody. | ||
| We've been helping everybody for years. | ||

| Alright guys, so look, I can't see into the future any more than you can. | ||
| Will this work? | ||
| I don't know. | ||
| I think there are definitely signs that it is going to work because we'll get to that in a moment in terms of some of the countries and organizations that are reversing some of their policies. | ||
| But I don't know what's going to happen and you don't know what's going to happen. | ||
| But what is refreshing about this precarious moment that we're in is that it's pretty rare that a president runs on something and then does it. | ||
| And then, once he's in office, says, actually admits the truth, there's going to be a pain point. | ||
| Doesn't just say, I'm going to print more money and give you money. | ||
| We're just going to print more money. | ||
| We're going to do the Inflation Reduction Act, which actually raised inflation. | ||
| He's actually doing what he said, so it will all fall on him. | ||
| Right? So if this thing does not work, it falls on Trump. | ||
| If it works, he gets the credit for it. | ||
| But we shall see. | ||
| Here's more evidence of just some of the nonsensical things we've been doing in terms of virtually all of our... | ||
| It's not just economic deals. | ||
| It's trade. | ||
| It's NATO. | ||
| It's everything. | ||
| Go. I've spoken to many countries. | ||
| They all want to do it, just so you understand the power of what I'm doing. | ||
| Every country is calling and being very solicitous of us. | ||
| Very, very nice. | ||
| They're being very nice. | ||
| And we have to be able to justify. | ||
| This is not sustainable. | ||
| The United States can't lose $1.9 trillion on trade. | ||
| We can't do that and also spend a lot of money on NATO in order to protect European nations. | ||
| We cover them with military, then we lose money on trade. | ||
| The whole thing is crazy. | ||
| And I got elected on that basis. | ||
| We explained it. | ||
| You know, the American people understand it a lot better than the media. | ||
| But the media understands it. | ||
| And much of the media writes correctly about it, I must say. | ||
| The American people understand it more than the media. | ||
| That's right. | ||
| That's why I'm trying to cover this the way that I am. | ||
| Again, I can't see the future. | ||
| You can't see the future. | ||
| But I think most people who aren't hysterical lunatics, and we'll have some video of hysterical lunatics in just a bit, but most people who aren't hysterical lunatics understand that something hasn't been right. | ||
| Why do we foot the bill on most of NATO to protect Europe while we're also getting screwed on European trade deals? | ||

| So if you are going to change that, If you're going to change that, you have to use whatever levers of pressure you have to change it. | ||
| Here's Kevin O'Leary, Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank, defending Trump's reciprocal tariffs, arguing that the point is, I don't think Mr. Wonderful loves tariffs either, but the idea is you negotiate. | ||
| You say to people, oh, as of today, we can't get screwed the way you've been screwing us. | ||
| We'd like to be screwed a little bit less, so we're going to screw you until you screw us less. | ||

| The whole point is it's a negotiation. | ||
| And if you can get to zero tariffs, that's the best outcome. | ||

| That's 50% of why these tariffs are put on. | ||

| The noise is, oh my, he's waking up every moment and looking at the numbers and being like, holy shit, the sky is falling! | ||

| We are trying to fix things. | ||
| And anyone knows, anyone knows you're a parent. | ||
| You got a kid who's completely out of control. | ||
| It's going to take a little bit of work to fix them, right? | ||
| There's going to be a pain point to fix them. | ||
| You have a problem with your boss, with your employee. | ||
| You got a problem, any, literally any problem. | ||
| You don't know how to swim. | ||
| You got to learn how to swim. | ||
| It's going to take a little time in the pool where it's going to be a problem, right? | ||
| So don't focus on the noise at the moment. | ||
| The signal is what he said. | ||
| Can we get these other countries to zero tariffs? | ||
| That's actually, ironically, for the libertarians who hate tariffs, the way you may get rid of all the tariffs is by threatening with tariffs, right? | ||
| Because then if other countries are like, you know what? | ||
| We really, again, we need access to Americans. | ||
| Americans buy a lot of shit. | ||
| They're on Amazon all day buying crap. | ||

| And then we have the libertarian dream, the thing that Thomas Sowell would want the most, that I think most people who understand capitalism want, which is free trade across the world. | ||

| Tariffs. Free trade. | ||
| So everyone, again, the sky is falling, the sky is falling. | ||
| And then if you just don't listen to the noise, but you look at the signal, what's the signal? | ||
| Well, there are a whole bunch of countries getting on board. | ||
| And maybe, maybe what will actually happen here is that this will separate sort of the strong from the weak, right? | ||
| There will be some countries that are going to be like, you know what? | ||
| We do love America's leadership in the world. | ||
| We do love that America protects us. | ||
| We love that America is the last remaining superpower. | ||
| We do love that American market and everything else. | ||
| And we're going to get on board and we're going to do the zero to zero and that will eliminate the tariffs in essence. | ||
| And then there'll be some countries that are just going to go in direct opposition to us. | ||
| And maybe they'll go more towards China, but at least it will be... | ||
| And yes, there's plenty of evidence that many more countries are getting on board the crazy train here. | ||

I got a report from the USTR last night that more than 50 countries have reached out to the president to begin a negotiation. | |
| But they're doing that because they understand that they bear a lot of the tariff. | ||
| And so I don't think that you're going to see a big effect on the consumer in the US because I do think that the reason why we have a persistent long-run trade deficit is these people have very inelastic supply. | ||
| They've been dumping goods into the country in order to create jobs, say, in China. | ||

| Saying that tariffs will bring back factory jobs because the idea is that if there's an even playing field, we'll be able to produce things in the United States. | ||
| Remember when your parents or your grandparents used to work at places that produce things in the United States? | ||
| We don't do that anymore. | ||
| Thus, everything you buy on Amazon is from China. | ||
| Well, maybe that's going to change, too. | ||

| See, what's going to happen is robotics are going to replace the cheap labor that we've seen all across the world. | ||
| I mean, think of what our factories did. | ||
| They went to the cheapest labor in the whole world, slave labor, cheap labor, the worst environmental conditions, polluting the heck out of it. | ||
| And then we bring back those cheap products here and we feel good about ourselves because we don't see the pain. | ||
| But the pain is in our economy. | ||
| Our workers, the American workers have been given the raw deal and what's going to happen now is we're going to build factories and we're going to train and we're going to have trade craft. | ||
| We're going to do the greatest set of training ever. | ||
| These are great paying jobs that our Americans, we're going to have 5 million of those jobs coming and America is going to retool, it's going to do manufacturing and robotics can sew as well. | ||
| You've never seen anything like what you're going to see the renaissance of American manufacturing coming because Donald Trump is bringing them back. | ||
| He's driving them back. | ||
| Six trillion dollars, he said today. | ||
| Yeah, and we've gone through some of those numbers last week. | ||
| The amount of companies that are now saying they are going to invest in the United States, right? | ||
| So imagine that. | ||
| Wouldn't that be something if we could start manufacturing things here again? | ||
| It really would change the world, right? | ||
| And then if other companies had to sort of compete with us in an even way, then overall the idea would be that the price of goods would go down. | ||
| There would be more competition, right? | ||
| More chance for people to innovate, to think how to do things differently and everything else. | ||
| And then every factory that's closing in the United States, the few that remain, maybe some of them could reopen again because not everything would be outsourced to a place that we have an uneven trade deal with. | ||
| Again, I can't see into the future. | ||
| I don't know if it'll work. | ||
| I'm just talking about the signal. | ||
| What is the signal right now? | ||
| That is the signal. | ||
| So you can either... | ||
| It's not hope. | ||
| You can try and get... | ||
| On board the idea that we can fix these things and hope that the people that are in charge are competent. | ||
| And Lutnick does seem competent. | ||
| Besson seems competent. | ||

| And it's like, maybe things will actually change. | ||
| So here is Treasury's head of the Treasury, Scott Besson, talking to Tucker about why Trump is trying to use tariffs and how that will change things. | ||

| Is it your sincere prediction that within four years we'll say, actually, that kind of worked? | ||

| And I know that what we were doing wasn't working. | ||

| We have President Trump's previous term when everyone said none of this was going to work. | ||

| The bottom 50% of households, their net worth increased faster than the top 10% of households. | ||
| Interestingly, Joe Biden, remember Joe Biden, the elderly man that was pretending to be president? | ||
| When Trump did enact some of those tariffs against China first time around, 45 Trump, Biden never got rid of them. | ||
| Kind of funny. | ||
| So we had some of those tariffs and nobody cared. | ||
| Now, more interesting even than that clip, I want to show you one more of Scott Besson talking to Tucker, because the philosophical debate is, does the idea of tariffs work? | ||
| If you put the tariff on the incoming stuff from another country, do they then tariff you more, and then does everybody tariff everybody into oblivion, and then it screws the consumer? | ||
| That's sort of like what the main libertarian argument would be. | ||
| Besson had a different take on it that I think was quite good. | ||
| I'm not happy. | ||
| With what's going on in the market today, but the distribution of equities across households, the top 10% of Americans own 88% of equities. | ||
| 88% of the stock market. | ||
| The next 40% owns 12% of the stock market. | ||
| The bottom 50 has debt. | ||
| They have credit card bills. | ||
| They rent their homes. | ||
| They have auto loans, and we've got to give them some relief. | ||
| I was struck by the statistic from last year. | ||

| A lot of our trading partners, including some of our allies, have not been good partners. | ||
| If tariffs are so bad, why do they have them? | ||

| Or, if the American consumer is going to pay all the tariff, then why do they care about tariffs? | ||
| Right. Because they're going to eat them. | ||
| That's the point. | ||
| If tariffs are so bad, then why do they have them? | ||
| So it might not be that tariffs are inherently horrible. | ||
| Tariffs are horrible when you are on the receiving side of the bad end of the tariff. | ||
| Trump is trying to tariff so we can eliminate tariffs. | ||

| He did not know the alleged assailant when the incident occurred at Kikendal Stadium at roughly 10 a.m. | ||
| They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him. | ||
| I rushed up there and I saw him on the gurney and I could tell. | ||

| I could see all the blood and I saw where the wound was and I was very concerned. | ||
| So I had to find his brother and we rushed to the hospital and we prayed and it's God's plan. | ||

Tuesday, I went to this famous public bathroom in San Francisco to go pee. | |
| The bathroom is famous because in 2020, when the city announced it, they said they planned to spend $1.7 million to build it. | ||
