Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
So how many of you watched the Donald Trump debate last night on taxes and nicknames for women?
How many of you saw that debate?
I have to tell you, folks, I nearly turned it off.
I can't tell you how many times.
I was embarrassed by the whole thing.
I mean, as a citizen, I was embarrassed for it.
I mean, the critics at Donald Trump say that he's a buffoon and he's unserious and all this.
Tim Kaine last night was an embarrassment.
It was just an abomination.
And moderator was an embarrassment last night.
It was so much became clear.
So much became obvious.
And one of the things, I'll just tell you right off the bat, the left is paranoid and fearful.
They are terrified to let any right-leaning, mainstream conservative ideas enter the public arena.
They simply will not permit it because they are afraid of it.
I submit to you that they know how extreme and out of the mainstream of American life and dreams and American ambition they are.
I think they know it.
I think that that, in fact, I think it governs and defines how they do everything.
The reason they are lawless, the reason that they are politically corrupting as many institutions as possible is because they know they would not be preferred by a majority of people.
They can't leave it to the chance of democracy.
They just can't.
They have to skew the game, rig the game, corrupt the institutions.
And it just gets frustrating to watch it take place.
It's getting more and more frustrating to watch this happen.
And while it happens, we have to be treated to the arrogant conceit of these people that they represent the majority of thinking in this country.
I refuse to believe that they do.
And proof positive Tim Kaine should have, if this country were gone and if we were lost, this country should have been applauding Tim Kaine last night and he should have been proclaimed the knockdown winner.
But that's not what happened.
Even the drive-by media is embarrassed of Tim Kaine and realizes that he blew it.
So their cover story is, well, you know what?
He intended to lose it.
They made a calculation under Clinton's site.
Go ahead and lose the debate, but make sure they trash and tarnish Trump from the beginning to the end of the thing.
It's worth losing the debate within the arena of ideas with all the judges, the American people, the media.
And who knows?
That could be true.
But I maintain to you that these people are so terrified of what you and I believe, they are terrified of anybody who can explain it.
They are terrified of anybody who can persuade.
They are terrified of anybody who can sell it.
They simply cannot, in their minds, permit the things that you and I believe, which are mainstream from the founding days of this country ideas.
They can't permit them in the public domain, untouched, unattacked, unfiltered.
It's really rather amazing when you think about it.
They can't allow anybody to talk about the real world.
They can't allow anybody to describe real circumstances for real people.
They simply cannot allow it.
They have to spin the illusion that exists inside their collective elitist compound in Washington, Boston, and New York.
What is called the Washington, Boston, New York corridor.
Don't let anybody talk about, say, job creation.
No, no, no.
We can't talk about job creation.
The government does that already.
Government's doing great.
Like 15 million new jobs, the interrupter kept shouting last night.
15 million new jobs.
What?
15 million new jobs?
There are 94 million Americans not working.
15 million new jobs?
What are they?
They're part-time jobs, people hired so companies can escape Obamacare, which even Bill Clinton is out trashing now.
And don't let's talk about the results of illegal immigration.
No, no, no, we can't talk about immigration, honestly.
We can't permit any honest characterization of what's happening to this country because of illegal immigration.
Because there are too many potential Democrat votes tied up in it.
So we can't allow anybody to actually discuss this in a truthful and honest manner.
The left simply cannot survive in a room where the light shines equally on them and us.
And last night was clear and present evidence of this.
It was rank amateur.
It was so beneath what this country deserves.
It was so beneath what the people and the voters of this country deserve.
And it was brought to us by the Democrat Party and their hacks disguised as journalists.
It really was embarrassing.
It was, it didn't even reach the level of high school grade intellect.
I mean, it was just, it was a shame.
It was, to me, depressing that this kind of stuff has been triumphing and the people who engage in this kind of stuff triumph and win.
Let's not talk about stopping terrorism because, you know, Hillary Clinton killed bin Laden with her bare hands.
Yep, yep.
Where were you, Pence?
Where were you?
Huh?
Huh?
Hillary Clinton, she killed bin Laden.
Did you miss that?
You want to talk about terrorism?
Where is it any terrorism?
Hillary Clinton killed bin Laden.
I'm sitting here.
I'm sitting there watching this.
And I'm praying that the low-information crowd is aware enough to see through this.
Let's not talk about Social Security and how to actually pay for it.
No, no, no, no.
We got to talk about how the Republicans want to take yours away.
We got to keep talking like the Democrats have been talking my whole life about how the Democratic Republicans want to cut your Social Security and kick you out of your house.
And we want to keep talking about how Trickle Down didn't work and how the economic policies of 10, 15, 20 years ago have not worked as though the ones of the last eight years have.
The economic policies of 20, 30 years ago did work, and that's another thing the Democrats cannot permit to be admitted, seen, discussed, what have you.
The economics of the Reagan years led to a 20-year boom until Bill Clinton's policies finally began to take their toll on it.
The economic policies of the last eight years are why millennials still live in home with their parents in the basement.
The economic policies of the last eight years are why millennial college graduates have 30-year debt to retire, along with their degrees that probably are not worth much in the grand marketplace of the American economy anyway.
The economy of the last eight years hasn't grown more than 1.5% in any one quarter.
It is embarrassing.
And let's not talk about how our tax code's an ungodly myth created by Washington, D.C. No, no, no.
No, no, no.
We got to scream about Donald Trump.
We have to scream how Donald Trump is cheating everybody, how Donald Trump is not doing his fair share, how Donald Trump is not making proper investments, how Donald Trump is not doing his proper contributions.
We must talk about how Donald Trump is cheating everybody.
The Donald Trump, who has created more jobs than Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine, Harry Reid, or any of these others combined in their entire lives.
And let's talk about how Donald Trump is unfit.
Let's talk about calling Mexicans names.
Let's calling the, let's take everything out of context.
Let's just keep reminding people.
None of that.
Not one instance of anything Tim Kaine was making a point about has anything to do with the future of this country.
Now, some people, well, Russia, it's politic as usual is what we get.
No, it's not.
It's getting worse, folks.
Last night, I sent a couple people a note.
It looked to me like Kane was trying to replicate Joe Biden's treatment of Paul Ryan.
Exactly what Biden started out interrupting, being contemptual, contemptuous, disrespectful.
It was the same playbook that they used that they think that they won the election back four years ago, the Romney Ryan ticket.
But this was worse.
I mean, this is, it's just, there is a gradual decline in the overall intellect, in the seriousness of the things that we are dealing with, the issues, the challenges that we as Americans face.
And we were all insulted and unserved, disserved by two of the people in that debate last night.
The moderator, I'm not going to embarrass her further by even mentioning her name, but she had no more business moderating that debate.
Well, I can't think of an analogy.
It was that inept.
Every question was scripted from a playbook filled with irrelevant, meaningless statistics, the obvious interruptions that were permitted, the answers that were denied.
And anytime Pence got anywhere near explaining and expressing what we believe, here comes the moderator to the rescue, shutting it all down.
But Russia shouldn't be upset because even all the polls show that Tim Kaine, Tim Kaine didn't win.
Tim Kaine was thought.
I understand all that.
It doesn't substitute for the fact that it was beneath us.
Folks, we deserve.
We're the American people.
We're American voters.
We are the people that make the country work.
We deserve better than that.
We deserve better than Hillary Clinton.
We deserve better than the entire technique the Democrat Party uses to deny alternative ideas, to rig games, to corrupt institutions.
We deserve better.
What are you saying?
You didn't think Pence did what?
No, I'm not saying that at all.
Pence did as good as he could with what he had to work with.
They were trying to bait Pence into losing his temper.
They were trying to bait Pence into accepting all these faux so-called challenges from Kane.
And he did not fall for the traps, didn't fall for the bait.
But as such, I mean, there were 70 interruptions because Pence was interrupted 70 times.
I don't care how you think he did.
He was interrupted 70 times.
Is that the number that they concluded?
Is that the total number?
Is that Kane's alone?
Whatever.
It's close to that.
70 different times a serious effort was made to silence Mike Pence.
We deserve better than this.
And the moderator was worthless.
Totally over her head.
Not qualified.
Classic example of somebody who reads a teleprompter, needs a script.
That's what I thought.
70 interruptions were just the Kane interruption.
Well, for every Kane interruption, you have to conclude is 70 things Pence didn't get to say.
70 times Pence didn't get finished.
70 times Pence was prevented is my point.
They are terrified of any right-leaning, mainstream American ideas entering the public arena.
Just shout out over and over that Trump loves Putin, that Mexicans are rapists, that women are pigs, and those tax returns.
Yeah, just keep pounding those tax returns.
Don't spend any time talking about the greatness of Hillary Clinton because you can't.
Don't spend any time talking about the greatness of the last eight years because you can't.
Don't spend any time talking about the promise of the next four years under your leadership because you can't.
All you can do is all you ever do, and that is impugn, besmirch, criticize, and character assassinate anybody that doesn't agree with you.
The Democrats cannot have a debate.
The Democrats cannot talk issues.
The Democrats cannot talk about accountability because they are the ones who have created all of these messes that we find ourselves in that need desperate attention.
And this is why it is imperative that the Democrats have party members disguised as journalists, running blocks, downfield blocks, blocks in the back, clipping, you name it, illegal hands to the face, whatever penalty is needed, the media does it for them.
And you end up with an event like last night.
I know Pence is great.
People think Pence was great.
He maintained his composure.
And he had the, he did, he did.
First time we heard some serious criticisms of the Clinton Foundation, it was all good.
But the whole thing just left a really sour taste in my mouth as an American citizen.
And then to add injury to insult, to realize that all kinds of people are out celebrating what Kane did last night, considering it a rousing success.
Anyway, that's my brief overview.
We have audio sounds we're going to get to.
I don't know.
I just didn't think it was possible Hillary managed to find a vice presidential candidate almost as unlikable as she is.
If her strategy was to find a jerk to make her appear likable by comparison, she damn near pulled it off.
Greetings and welcome, L. Rushboe, with half my brain tied behind my back, just to make it fair.
The telephone number, if you want to be on the program today, 800-282-2882, and the email address lrushbow at EIBnet.us.
It is a new email address.
We keep hearing how qualified Hillary Clinton is to be president.
I think it's kind of like somebody has to deny they're a prostitute, then there must be some doubt about it.
If you have to keep telling us that Hillary Clinton's Uber qualified, there must be some doubt about it.
It must not be self-evident.
It must not be apparent.
And the reason it is apparent and self-evident is because it isn't true.
The woman is no more qualified to be president than anybody else.
Certainly not more qualified than George Washington or Abraham Lincoln or anybody else, which is how they are promoting her.
Keep hearing how qualified she is.
She's more prepared to be president than anybody.
She had more exposure, president than anybody else.
Hillary Clinton is the most prepared to be impeached in advance of any presidential candidate this country has ever had.
Hillary Clinton will be elected to be impeached.
Now, what we continue to learn about the Justice Department and this email case.
By the way, I'm not being glib.
If elected, Hillary Clinton could be impeached based on what we already know, and there's plenty more yet to be discovered.
Emails and other documents could be used in impeachment proceedings, waiting to be found, like Easter eggs laid out for three-year-olds.
That's why they destroyed the laptops.
Don't think it's because they get rid of evidence like narcotics.
They got rid of those laptops to get rid of any evidence we don't know about yet.
Rush Limbaugh with talent on loan from God.
MSNBC today floating a rumor.
I don't know if MSNBC created the rumor or if they heard the rumor and are repeating it.
But here is the rumor that PMS NBC was tossing around this morning.
It is that Donald Trump is mad at Mike Pence for his debate performance because he didn't defend Trump nearly well enough, but he did good enough that it puts pressure on Trump to do better on Sunday night.
And Trump doesn't like being outshined this way.
The vice presidential candidate's not supposed to look better than the top of the ticket.
Trump supposedly ticked off about this.
Do you believe that?
Is that right?
Politico said, so I guess it's not a rumor that Politico has that story out there with that theme in the story that Trump is mad at Pence for his debate performance since it puts pressure on Trump to do better in the next debate Sunday night.
In fact, the politico insiders have this group of establishment elitists that they convene now and then at Politico to assess and analyze these events, these comings and goings in our daily political lives.
And the politico insiders say that Mike Pence didn't just defeat Tim Kaine, he outshined Donald Trump.
A majority of the battleground state insiders who comprise the politico caucus gave Pence the edge over Kane in the debate.
But the Pence versus Trump comparison was unanimous.
Each and every one of 48 Republican insiders who responded to Politico's post-debate survey last night said that Pence delivered a better debate performance than Trump did after what was widely seen as a Trump flop last week.
Not even close, said an Ohio Republican.
Is there anybody outside the Trump family who isn't wishing we could flip the ticket?
Again, this is one of the politico insiders, one of 48 Republican insiders responding to the debate, wishing that Pence was at the top of the ticket.
Another Republican in this group from Nevada said Pence was the anti-Trump.
He was prepared, he was smart, he was composed, and he showed respectful competence in the leadership.
A Virginia Republican said Trump was a disaster.
A New Hampshire Republican suggested Pence pitch hit for Trump in the final two debates with Hillary.
A Colorado Republican said if the Republican ticket were flipped, it would be game over.
So you see, Trump cannot win.
It cannot be purported.
It cannot be reported.
It cannot be said that Trump won, because even when his vice president does well, Trump loses.
And this is how the mainstream media constructs these things.
So the Trump campaign had, by every estimate last night, a resounding victory.
And what it means is that Trump lost in the drive-by media.
This is the kind of crap that is beneath us.
This is the kind of it's all driven by fear.
These people on the left simply cannot run the risk of the ideas we believe in gaining prominence or even being heard.
Now, I had a bunch of people in the email I checked during a break asked me if I thought the debate would mean anything to the presidential election.
I said yesterday to a caller that vice presidential debates usually don't matter Hill of Bates.
Can I give you an example?
Let's go back to what year would it have been 1992.
And this is Bill Clinton and Lord.
No, no, this is 88.
That's right.
88.
George H.W. Bush running for the presidency, his first term.
He had chosen Dan Quayle to be his Veep.
And he was up against Michael Dukakis.
And Lord Benson of Texas was the vice presidential nominee.
And during the vice presidential debate, Quayle versus Lord Benson, the subject of Quayle's lack of experience came up.
He had only been in the Senate not long.
So Quayle drew an analogy.
Well, John F. Kennedy wasn't in the Senate very long when he was elected president.
Lord Benson paused and said, Senator, I knew John Kennedy.
John Kennedy was a friend of mine.
And Senator, you are no John Kennedy.
And the roof blew off the place.
And it was thought to be one of the best killer lines ever delivered in a political debate in the history of the universe.
And it didn't matter a whit.
George H.W. Bush beat Dukakis by eight points.
The vice presidential debate didn't matter.
Now, that was just one aspect.
Quayle didn't do poorly in the debate at all, but that one instance, you can imagine the post-debate commentary was embarrassing.
They started talking about how George Bush had chosen the wrong guy.
Quayle was all energetic and flapping his arms out there on the campaign stump.
And they were all beating up on George W. Bush for choosing, they accused Bush of choosing a young guy to get women.
Remember that?
Quayle was chosen because he was supposedly going to be a chick magnet.
Well, anyway, the point is the vice president debate then, which Quayle reputedly got nailed by the line from Lord Benson, and George H.W. Bush still won.
So the vice presidential debate traditionally doesn't matter.
But this is a different year with different dynamics and all different ingredients.
And I still maintain that you can't judge things happening in this political campaign the way you would judge them if both candidates were from the inside were from the establishment.
There clearly is an outsider here, and boy, are they threatened by that?
It is, and all these Democrats who wanted Trump to be donating to them.
All these Democrats have been sucking up to Trump for golf club memberships over the years.
All of these people desperately wanted to be invited to Trump parties when he throws them at Mar-a-Lago and everywhere.
Now all of these Democrats are talking about Donald Trump as though he is the reprobate of all humanity.
I'm old enough now that I can see this stuff repeating.
If you're new to this, I'm sure this is all exciting.
I'm sure it's got you amped up.
I'm sure you're jazzed.
I'm sure, wow, this is cool, man.
I love getting all trucked up like this.
When you start seeing this stuff repeat and you start seeing it disintegrate and get worse and deviancy seeming to rise and become a major factor in these events, it's well, it hasn't affected, at least it has an effect on me.
It just makes me sick of it.
I'm tired of it.
I'm worn out by these tactics.
It's not just that it's unfair or anything like that.
That'd be childish to say that.
It's just beneath us.
We deserve better than this.
You could pick 100 people out of the phone book and you'd end up with better debate than we had last night.
Just pick 100 names out of the demon and choose two of them.
No, I'm not sliding Pence.
This is all the moderator.
Okay, do this.
Pick 100 names and choose two.
Choose a moderator from the phone book and choose the Democrat candidate from the phone book.
And I guarantee you, we're going to have a better debate than what we had last night.
A debate that would better serve us and actually have some meaning, play some role in determining the outcome.
The way this is going to determine, if it determines anything, is that the Democrat was such a jerk that maybe, just maybe, people will start putting two and two together and realizing that's who they all are.
Anyway, I got to take a break.
Sit tight, my friends.
We are coming back and continuing before you know it.
Yeah, yeah, I'll give you a hurricane update in a minute.
Some stuff I still need to get to here.
To the audio soundbites, we go.
Here we have the this, I guess it's a montage here: drive-by media types saying that Pence failed to defend Trump.
And that there was a reason that Pence didn't defend Trump.
See if you can pick it out of it.
Tim Kaine was running for vice president in 2016.
Mike Pence was running for president in 2020.
Mike Pence defended his term for 2020.
Mike Pence just won the first presidential debate for 2020.
Mike Pence, he's running in 2020.
He threw Trump under the bus.
But Mike Pence certainly did himself well if he decides to run in 2020.
Mike Pence came in and made Mike Pence look good for 2020.
I think Mike Pence may have been looking a little bit at 2020.
Made himself probably the frontrunner for the Republican nomination in 2020.
Lockstep.
Every damned one of them.
Lockstep.
With the same damn take.
And I'm just going to tell you, throughout that whole debate last night, that didn't occur to me once.
Not one time.
Because I know that's not what Pence was doing.
Pence wants to win now.
Pence wants to correct the lies and character assassinations that are taking place now.
2020, these people can't, they can't stop thinking about this in their formulaic way that even in the middle of this campaign, what some people are really positioning for is 20.
And there probably are people doing that.
The same usual insiders that play all of this as a game when all of us treat this as as real as it gets.
To them, it's a game.
Pence setting himself up.
It is humanly impossible.
It defies any notion of common sense and intelligence that after a debate last night, you could have a front runner for 2020.
It's beyond absurd.
But look, somebody sent the memo out.
Or maybe they didn't need a memo.
Maybe they think in lockstep without being told.
Just mind-boggling.
Frank Luntz had a focus group over on CBS.
Special coverage, vice presidential debate.
Lunch said to his focus group, give me a word or a phrase to describe Mike Pence this evening.
Calm.
Classic.
Polished.
Effective.
Knockout.
Compelling.
Composed.
Eloquent.
And then Lunch said, you were all critical of Senator Kane.
So give me your reactions to Senator Kane.
Kane cherry-picked things that made Trump sound like a crazy person, and Kane came off looking like a crazy person.
Kane came off as a jerk.
I actually liked that guy, and I was really disappointed in him this time.
He just kept going back to trying to needle little points, a total jerk, condescending.
I think he reinforced the worst of Hillary.
I think he really did her a disservice.
Okay, so that's encouraging.
I mean, these are average American voters, and they saw it the way we did.
Correct?
You saw it that way, pretty much.
I mean, it was Jerk City last night.
Look, it was, look, that's my point.
It was beyond irritating.
It was beneath us.
It was just, it was insulting to us, particularly if that was a strategy.
I don't know if Cain, I don't know the guy.
All I know is that people inside the establishment say about him what they say about everybody.
He's a great guy.
He's a great family.
They all talk about each other that way.
I don't know the guy.
I've always been suspicious of the guy.
The guy's always looked like.
I was not surprised with this list, but I just think it's beneath us.
And if that was a strategy to go out there and be as jerky and abrasive as you can, lose the debate on purpose to make sure you get all that negative stuff in on Trump.
Well, then they pulled that off, too.
Now, here's Luntz after talking to his focus group participants.
Luntz had to wrap it up for everybody.
Are any of you now more likely to vote for Donald Trump because of what you heard from Mike Pence?
Raise your hands.
Two, four, six, eight, ten.
So half of you.
Will it actually change any of your votes?
Nobody.
Well, that's pretty significant.
These are undecided, uncommitted voters in Ohio.
They're the ones that really matter.
And tonight was a very good night for the Trump-Pence ticket.
Why?
Nobody's going to change their vote.
Didn't I hear him say that?
Will it actually change any of your votes?
Nobody.
Well, that's pretty significant.
Ohio doesn't count anyway.
The New York Times just told us it's no longer a bellwether.
Hillary's pulled out of there.
The New York Times is not a factor.
Lunch, you need to close up shop there.
Ohio doesn't matter anymore.
The people of Ohio.
You know why?
Because Ohio is too white.
That's right, my friend.
Too many white middle-class people live in Ohio.
There aren't enough Black Lives Matter people there.
There aren't enough illegal immigrants.
There aren't enough ex-cons that need the permission to vote.
There's not a good left-wing cross-section of America.
There are too many decent, hardworking, middle-class people in Ohio to appeal to the Democrat Party.
And so the New York Times told us it's no longer a bellwetter.
Back in July, the New York Times did a story on how Ohio was crucial when Hillary was winning there.
And now she's not, and so it's not important.
Here's John King.
And this, this, by the way, this loops back to the rumor that PMSNBC was floating and that Snerdley says the Politico is reporting.
This is last night, Debate Night in America, on CNN with John King.
And he's discussing the reaction, the aftermath of the debate last night.
I want to give you one insight from somebody inside Trump World who is in the inner circle in Trump World who said that he does not think this is going to go down terribly well with Donald Trump, even though the Trump campaign is rushing out statements with all conservatives across the country praising Mike Pence.
They say Donald Trump is watching the reviews and he's hearing Mike Pence won, but he didn't defend Donald Trump, and that Hillary Clinton and Mike Pence are better debaters than Donald Trump.
Some people think that might not sit well with the boss.
So there you go.
So there's a second place that it's been promulgated out there.
So see, the takeaway is that even when the Trump team wins, Trump loses.
Pence had a great debate.
Pence outclassed the jerk.
Pence outclassed the moderator.
Pence was calm.
He was cool.
He was collected.
He was in fact.
He did a great job.
Trump loses.
Trump lost the debate last night because Pence so easily outclassed him.
And Trump is now mad that he was made to look bad.
And he's mad that he's got added pressure now to be as good as Pence.
That's the story they're putting out, which equals Trump lost.
And then, at the end of all that, it didn't matter because none of the people in the lunch focus group say their vote was changed anyway.
So there you go.
That's how it's done.
Okay, on this bit, Drive-By saying that Pence was actually positioning himself for 2020.
You know what?
There's a good chance that that talking point went right from the Clinton campaign to the drive-by media.
Somebody had to write that.
I mean, the idea they're going to think of this independently, locksed up like this, somebody is behind this.
And if you ask me, folks, the Clinton campaign is behind this, they want to create the impression that Pence knows Trump's going to lose.
Pence knows that Hillary's going to win 26.
It's all about 2020 for Pence.
That's what they're trying to establish.
It's all about 2020 because Pence obviously can see and read the tea leaves.
