Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
Okay, folks, I think enough time has gone by that we can make a point after we make an observation.
An observation, by the way, that only I, your guiding light, El Rushbo, said we would make if we just let a couple of days, the three days or so go by.
Greetings.
Great to have you here, Rush Limbaugh, the fastest week in media and the fastest three hours in media.
Happy to have you with us.
As always, telephone number if you want to be on the programs 800-282-2882 and the email address El Rushbo at EIBnet.com today is Thursday.
Last weekend was four days ago.
Depending on which day in the weekend you go back to, it could be five days ago.
And if you have wishful thinking about weekends, it could be six days ago, all the way back to last Friday.
What happened last weekend?
Donald Trump supposedly took himself out of the presidential race with one sentence about John McCain.
I mean, that's what the conventional wisdom told us.
From the moment it was reported that Trump said he wasn't impressed with McCain because he's not impressed with people that get captured.
The immediate media response, the immediate response, the knee-jerk response from the Washington establishment, both parties, was, that's it.
It's over.
We finally put a bag of excrement out there in front of Donald Trump and he stepped in it.
This is it.
This is the moment we've all been waiting for, they said.
This is the moment they said they knew was going to happen.
If they would just wait, Trump was going to say something beyond the pale that would offend and outrage everyone and force him out of the race, to which they then said, which will be great so that we can now get down to the serious business of the Republican nomination.
Well, here it is, Thursday, and it hasn't happened.
Trump's still there.
Trump's bigger than ever.
Trump's numbers continue to skyrocket on CNN last night trying to tell Anderson Cooper why people don't watch him.
He's on CNN last night trying to tell Anderson Cooper why people don't trust him.
Why they don't watch CNN, why they don't trust CNN.
Donald Trump was supposed to be gone.
This is the teachable moment to which I referred on Monday, which was misinterpreted by many as support for Trump.
But it wasn't.
I was just being an objective observer pointing out that we have a circumstance here which we haven't seen in a while.
Trump made himself a target with his supposed reported comments about McCain.
And that was supposed to be the end.
And I said something's happening here that we don't normally see.
The target of this attempt is actually fighting back.
The target not only is not apologizing, he's not even getting close to apologizing, so much so that he's even doubled down on the original comment and tripled down on it to the point that an apology would not even look real.
This is an interesting thing, folks, because we now see, and I think this is a lesson that every conservative and every Republican needs to learn.
Of course, it depends on the specifics of every instance here.
But this is pretty traditional.
Trump was supposed to not be able to survive this.
All the experts told us.
All of the wizards of SMART, all the experts, all the consultants, all the know-it-alls smiled and rubbed their hands in glee and said, that's it.
But Trump didn't play by their rules.
He didn't apologize.
He didn't grovel.
He didn't ask for forgiveness.
He didn't ask for a chance to restate it.
He didn't ask for understanding.
He said, screw you.
Not only did I mean it, try this.
And he's still there.
What's the lesson?
The lesson is, and I promise you this is going to be the, well, maybe the third to fourth last time I'm going to mention this because I think it's important.
The lesson is that when outrage pops up over something supposedly controversial said by a conservative or a Republican, it does not mean that that outrage is shared by the American people or a majority thereof.
When the outrage machine gets going, as in outrage over what Trump said about McCain, the implied assumption is that the American people, majority of the American people also are angry and demanding of an apology and want the perp gone.
It's not the case.
So every conservative, every Republican, elected official public figure, it doesn't matter.
Next time this happens, and there will be a next time, and it'll not be that long.
Next time this happens, there's a new rule that can be followed.
There's a new example that's been set.
You do not have to slink away with your tail between your legs.
You do not have to apologize.
You do not have to assume that a majority of the American people agree with whatever the critics in the media are saying.
These kinds of things, depending on a lot of factors.
I mean, it's not universal, but a lot of these factors can be survived.
A lot of these instances can be survived.
It's not necessary to immediately capitulate, apologize, and split the scene.
Seminal moment, folks.
Seminal moment.
I doubt that anybody else is making such a big deal about this, but it's the reason I've been through this is why this matters to me.
You know, things happen to you.
You have personal experiences and things that happen to others.
You have a bond of relatability, an ability to understand it a little bit more than people to whom it's never happened.
And I've been through this, I can't tell you how many times.
And I'm still here, triumphing as always.
It can be done.
It's always irked me how quickly Republican targets slink away, give up, raise the white flag of surrender, thinking that they are being appreciated, thinking that they are lessening whatever anger there is at them.
It's totally unnecessary.
And depending again, the circumstances are unique to each and each issue.
I mean, there's certain things that someone could say that they couldn't survive.
Understand that.
It's not universal.
But it's also not universal on the other end that everything controversial, by the way, and who gets to define what's controversial?
They do.
The critics, the media, the left, the Democrats, they get to define what's controversial.
So Trump was supposed to be gone.
Trump was supposed to be finished.
And have you noticed something?
The more Donald Trump talks, the higher he goes in the polls.
The more Donald Trump speaks, the more places he goes, the more places he appears, the greater his support, which is the exact opposite of Hillary Clinton.
By the way, I can't tell you the number of people echoing my sentiment, my philosophy, my theory on Hillary.
You'll hear it everywhere now.
And it goes like this.
The more Hillary speaks, the worse she does in the polls.
The less she speaks, the less she's seen, the better she does.
And the reason supposedly is by the experts and smart analyzing the polling data: well, you know, Hillary's always been seen in a supportive role, and that's where she shines.
But when she's out front, when she's taking the lead, that's when she has problems.
Well, she's taking the lead, and she's got big problems.
TheHill.com Democrats fear Clinton's strength after new poll.
Democrat fears over Clinton's strength grow after new poll.
Democrats are seeing warning signs after a new poll showed Hillary Clinton losing three.
We told you about this yesterday, but there's more detail here.
Losing three swing states and deep in negative Tory on questions of character, negative territory.
And that character question, by the way, is a big one.
Remember, the character question, as it manifests itself in Democrat presidential politics, is not, do you have a good character and are you moral and upstanding?
Because they wouldn't pass that test.
Democrat character is defined as: do you care about the little guy?
Have you made everybody convinced?
Have you been able to convince everybody you care about the little guy?
That's how you define character in a Democrat candidate.
And it was expressed in the exit polls in 2012 when Obama scored 81 and Romney scored 19 to the question, cares about people like me.
Hillary is diving on that question.
Hillary is plummeting on that question.
Hillary is artificial.
Hillary has no charisma.
Hillary is robotic.
Hillary is not genuine.
She can't look at all the years she's been in public.
She ought to be the best person in the world at doing a stump speech.
Or among the best, if experience matters.
She's been out there for as long as I have, even longer, campaigning for her husband in Arkansas.
She's been around the public scene 30 years.
You'd think she'd have this down pet.
You would think that she'd be able to go out and make a speech and make people love her and fire people up.
She can't, even now.
And the Democrats are starting to get nervous.
Now, last night, I looked deeper into these polls after having heard about them yesterday.
They're really, really, really bad.
The only bright spot, and there's only one bright spot for her in this poll that shows her diving in three swing states, is that she's not underwater on the leadership.
But man, does she have no trust.
The majority of people in this poll think that she is a liar.
The only place that she scores points is leadership, which it's odd, but it's what it is.
Other findings are also very poor, including on the question of whether voters trust her.
Those results seem ominous, given that the former first lady's been in the public eye for around 25 years, a quarter of a century, and it looks it.
Did I say that?
Well, it's a factor.
Sorry to say, sad though it may be, it is.
The fact that she's been in the public eye for so long means it's going to be all that much more difficult to change these perceptions because they've had 25 years to settle in.
And so, changing all these things overnight is going to be tough, particularly on the question of honesty.
The Quinnipi Act poll showed that Colorado voters, by almost a two-to-one margin, assert that Hillary was not honest or trustworthy.
62% said she was not, 34% said she was.
And that's not much better in Iowa or Virginia.
Respondents distrusted Clinton, 5933 in Iowa, and 5539 in Virginia.
There's a strategist quoted in the story in the Hill who wanted to remain anonymous.
And he said that deep panic would not set in until more polls show the similar or same results.
But then this anonymous person said, you have to address the issue, and you're better doing so 16 months out than 15 months in.
I mean, she better handle this now.
But how does she do that?
How does she overcome the fact that people don't trust her?
How does she overcome the fact people don't think she's honest?
I mean, that didn't just happen yesterday or last night, last week.
It's settled in for 25 years.
Anyway, there are giant fears.
But meanwhile, over on the Republican side, Trump, who's now, by the way, starting to threaten third party because the GOP establishment isn't showing him any love.
GOP establishment not showing him any respect.
You know who else is plummeting in the polls?
The Pope.
Il Papa.
The more the Pope speaks, the worse his numbers get.
Now, it doesn't matter because the Catholic Church and what it believes is not up for public opinion.
Except the Pope is gone outside what the Catholic Church believes now.
The Pope is delving into areas way, way beyond the theological.
But it looks like the more the Pope speaks up, the worse his approval numbers get, at least in the United States and especially among conservatives.
Of course, it seems odd to be talking about the Pope's approval ratings.
I mean, it doesn't matter.
He doesn't have to run for re-election.
Even within his universe, he doesn't.
It's a lifetime vicar of Christ appointment.
You win one election and that's it.
It's fascinating out there.
Planned parenthood, oh man, is that blowing up.
And I'll tell you what, Planned Parenthood is all of a sudden they know what's coming is even worse than what we know now.
And they're starting to position themselves both offensively and defensively to deal with what's coming.
We've also been told that the Department of Justice is going to be looking into the Planned Parenthood circumstance.
But folks, before you get your hopes up on that, remember who we're talking about here.
Don't be surprised if Loretta Lynch and the DOJ want to target the people that made the videos.
Do not assume that the DOJ is going to look into what Planned Parenthood's doing, even though what they are doing is a wanton, complete violation of federal law.
Remember who we're talking about here.
That's incendiary, and we will have even more detail as the program unfolds.
Some of the Democrats are starting to circle the wagons now after I pointed out yesterday that none of them had.
It's not many, but some of them are beginning to do so.
Also, Senator, sorry, Secretary of State John Kerry, who proudly served in Vietnam, is testifying before a Senate committee about the Iran deal.
And I watch a little bit of it.
I guess I'm getting cynical as I get older.
I really thought in part, when I look at the witnesses, look at Kerry and the people sitting next to him up there, I literally think I'm back watching the Cantina scene in Star Wars.
And then I watch the questions that Rubio is asking, even Bob Menendez asking, and the people with John Kerry, they just appear clueless in terms of being able to answer what's going to happen if this happens.
You're given ABC options.
If this happens, what does this mean for sanctions?
And if the sanctions don't get lifted here, do they get lifted?
Well, and nobody seems to be able to get a straight answer on very many of these questions.
So Planned Parenthood, we got the Iran deal.
We have Hillary Clinton plummeting.
And of course, the latest with Trump is also fascinating.
What's happening with Uber?
I have to take a break here, folks.
But don't go away.
Just getting started here.
Sit tight.
I'm going to give you an example.
We have John Kerry, who used to chair the committee that is now grilling him on the Iran deal.
Marco Rubio, you got to hear this.
Stop what you're doing.
Marco Rubio said it's important for companies anywhere in the world to know that whatever investment they make in Iran, they're risking it.
And they're better on the hope that Iran never violates the deal, betting on it.
And they're also hoping the next president doesn't re-impose congressional sanctions by which they would become a sanction entity.
I cannot see somebody just arbitrarily deciding, let's go back to where we were, where they're completely free to do whatever they want without any inspections, without any input, without any restraints, without any insight.
I don't think any president would do that.
The Supreme Leader of Iran and the President of Iran and others believe they've signed an agreement with the world.
And the rest of the world thinks it's a good agreement.
Now, if you think the Ayatollah is going to come back and negotiate again with an American, that's fantasy.
You're never going to see that because we will, if proven, we're not trustworthy.
We got 535 secretaries of state.
You can't deal with anybody.
Oh, my goodness gracious.
Oh, my goodness.
That 535 secretary, John Kerry always thought he was when he was in the Senate.
But anyway, what he's saying here, if you don't approve this deal, the Ayatollah hominy will never trust us again.
If you don't approve this, the Ayatollah hominy and President Rouani will never trust any American ever again.
If this isn't 180 degrees out of faith, just the thinking, what do you mean they will never trust us again?
The implied status of things is that we trust them and we need their trust.
And if we pull back, they'll never trust us again.
This is 180 degrees wrong.
Just attitudinally, psychologically, every which.
Plus the details of what he said.
I don't have time to parse everything he said here, but because of this, another break.
Don't go away.
Just getting warmed up here, folks.
Talent, so much.
Talent.
Wish I could find a way to share it.
On loan from God.
Rush Lindbaugh, the Excellence in Broadcasting Network.
And great to have you here.
Folks, I have a bunch of emails overnight asking me if I would endeavor to explain why Apple's share price, stock price, plummeted so much after yet another record quarter of financial results.
A lot of people don't understand.
How can it happen?
They sold more iPhones in the third quarter than ever.
They showed more profit than ever for the quarter, year over year.
Why are people selling the stock and why is everybody down on Apple?
I'll be happy to explain this later in the program.
But you're going to have to set aside everything you think you know about logic to understand it.
But I'll be more than happy to explain it in due course.
Now, back to this soundbite, John Kerry.
If Congress doesn't approve this deal, the Ayatollah hominy will never trust us again.
There are some developments here, folks, that make this statement really curious.
And one of them we talked about yesterday, and that is the two side deals.
White House has acknowledged now that there are two side deals between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, not side deals between the United States and Iran.
Susan Rice, the National Security Advisor, yesterday, last night, acknowledged these side agreements between Iran and the IAEA, and Kerry didn't even know about them.
And he admitted that he didn't know about them.
Now, what do you mean by side deals?
These are deals that are separate and apart from the agreement made between us and the other nations and Iran.
They literally are deals on the side that have nothing to do with the primary deal.
And the deals involve, as I told you yesterday, they're very, very crucial.
I can't believe they're not part of the primary deal.
One of them involves a past military base or bases where Iran was developing nuclear weapons, nuclear energy.
They do not have to admit or display or acknowledge or explain anything about those military bases and what was going on there.
And the second thing they don't have to do is explain how far along they were or are in developing a nuclear weapon.
Now, again, those are side deals.
Those are not part of the primary deal that everybody's bragging about here on the administration side.
The reason that they're crucial, if we are not allowed to know how far along they are, what is the point of any of this then?
If Iran does not have to show us those military bases, we can't inspect them.
And if they don't have to explain to the world how far along they are in this process, there's no baseline that can be established whereby we can measure what they do from this day forward.
I can't believe these two things are a side deal, and they're not even between us.
They're between Iran and the IAEA.
But these two side deals are pretty important.
And the White House just finally admitted it late yesterday and Kerry admitted that he didn't even know about them.
And this was after Kerry admitted that he was very disturbed when he saw what the Ayatollah Hominy was saying about America and Iranian policy with America going forward.
He's very disturbed about it.
He didn't quite know what to make of it.
How can you not?
But then when you listen to this soundbite where he's all worried the Ayatollah won't trust us if the Congress doesn't approve the deal, The Ayatollah Hominy, who is the grand poo bah of Iranian state-sponsored terrorism in the world, will not trust us.
You know, we teach self-esteem.
We've been teaching self-esteem to young skulls full of mush in the American public school system for I don't know how many years, but it's decades.
And I'm beginning to think that it was taught and John Kerry was in the classroom because it actually does not build self-esteem.
It creates a mishmash of what self-esteem really is.
The way self-esteem is taught in the American school system is you don't have to do anything to be considered great or special or unique.
You just automatically are because your teacher told you.
Johnny, you're so wonderful.
Johnny, yes, I am wonderful.
Johnny hadn't done anything to distinguish himself yet, but he thinks he's wonderful.
And this is all part of this convoluted psychological curriculum that says every child is special and must be told so.
And once you've been told you're special, once you've been told you're unique and special and great and so forth, and you don't have to do anything to earn it, then you're not going to.
But at the same time, it teaches phony self-what they're inculcating in kids is not self-esteem.
It's phony.
And how in the world do we approach negotiations with Iran thinking that it's us who have something to prove?
How do you go into negotiations like this with the attitude that it's our responsibility to change in order to make this work?
But when did we become the bad guys in this?
Is what I don't get.
We're worried about losing the trust of the Ayatollah.
The Ayatollah hominy is never going to trust us.
The Ayatollah hominy doesn't care about trusting us.
It's not even in his mindset.
It doesn't enter his way of thinking.
We are the enemy.
We are to be nullified, negated, defeated, overcome.
And the more they can convince us to defeat ourselves without them having to do anything, the more they'll do that.
And we are well on the way to cutting our own selves down to size when our own Secretary of State frets before a Senate committee hearing.
Well, if you don't approve this, the Ayatollah Hominy will never trust us again.
Who is the Ayatollah hominy?
Why does the world have to have his trust?
This is all backwards.
Attitudinally, psychologically, positions of power, you name it, it's all backwards.
In addition to that, besides the side deals, here's the latest news on ratifying and approving.
The Iranian parliament, as we mentioned to you yesterday, has total input, supposedly.
I mean, that's a bit of a myth, but the Iranian parliament has the right to ratify, approve, change, whatever.
So we're told.
They've got 80 days to do it.
You know what they said last night?
They said to the U.S. Congress, you go first.
You go first.
We'll wait until you act before we begin our 80 days of review.
You guys go first.
Now, the fact of the matter is the Iranian parliament is a rubber stamp for the Ayatollah Hominy and the rest of his mullah buddies.
Just like the President Rouani is a rubber stamp for the Ayatollah.
Have you ever wondered why Mahmoud Ahmedini Zad is no longer the president of Iran?
Because he was too honest.
He was too upfront.
He made himself and Iran too big a target.
With Mahmoud running around, running his mouth off, it would have not been possible to come to a deal with Iran because Mahmoud every day was himself shouting, death to America!
Death to America!
Death to Israelis!
Death to Israelis!
Run the Jews to the Mediterranean.
He's doing it every day.
It would have been impossible.
Ayatollah Hamidi moved him somewhere.
Who knows where Mahmoud is now, but he's not in the presidency.
He's like, got this Rwani person in there.
So now our 80 days or 90 days kick in.
And it's amazing when you look at the polling data all over.
You know, this is, Obama wants this as a legacy.
And make no mistake about it, it's what it is.
I'd be very careful about adding other ingredients to this that he desires.
But I'll just add one.
I cannot, believe me, I've tried, folks.
I've really tried to convince myself.
I've tried to prove myself wrong about Obama's motivations.
Now, a lot of people don't care about people's motivations.
I do.
I think there's much to learn in people's motivations.
I mean, people are asking, why is Obama doing it?
Why is Obama allowing the absolute derelicts of the world to freely enter this country and then convert them to citizenship?
Why is he doing it?
The motivation matters to me.
The answer to the question matters.
Why, indeed?
Why go to such great lengths to make sure that Iran gets a nuclear weapon?
You know, Kerry's characterization here.
Well, I don't know, man.
Go back to where we were, where Iran's completely free to do whatever they want without any inspections, without any input, without any restraint.
What do you mean without any?
There were sanctions all over the place.
They did not have a free road.
They did not have an open road.
They had all kinds of obstructions.
The sanctions were killer sanctions.
They had world public opinion against them.
They also were facing a world that was quite properly distrusting and appeared united in not permitting them to get a nuclear weapon.
All of a sudden, we have a deal with them, and the end result is they get one?
What was it?
A fait accompli?
Did we assume, did the leaders of this country assume that no matter what happens, Iran's going to get a nuclear weapon?
And so we had better be involved somehow in that process so that we can have some say-so in it?
Is that the thinking?
That they were going to get there anyway, regardless that the THICOMs are going to help them, the North Koreans are going to help them, the Russians are going to help them?
Well, if that's the case, then why are we even focusing on Iran?
Why isn't Russia in our crosshairs right now?
In fact, Russia, Hillary, reset, absolute bomb, absolute failure.
You hear what the Russians did.
You might have seen a news report on this on the 4th of July, but you might not have paid much attention to it.
The Russians have these giant bear bombers.
They are propeller-driven.
They're prop-driven bomber.
They carry nuclear weapons.
They flew up to 39 miles off the coast of California, Mendocino County, on July 4th.
And one of the pilots of the Russian bear bomber, good morning, American pilots, and welcome to your day of independence.
Was a taunt.
They got within 39 miles.
Don't know if they're carrying nukes on these particular flights, but the flights have been going on for quite a while.
Iran depends on the CHICOMs, depends on the North Koreans a little bit, and Russia.
So is our thinking, hey, we better get involved in this because they're going to get there anyway.
And so we're telling ourselves, okay, we've gotten involved.
Therefore, we're good people.
We're smart people.
We're good liberals.
We're Barack Obama, the Democrat Party, and we know best.
And therefore, we're going to lift the sanctions.
We're going to guide them all the way.
We're going to make sure they get their weapon on our terms.
And in that structure, we get concerned about whether the Ayatollah hominy is going to trust us or not.
He just told the U.S. Congress, he just told the U.S. Senate, you guys had better not disapprove this thing, or you're going to lose the trust of the Ayatollah hominy.
Folks, it's ridiculous.
This is, whatever we're doing, it is not from a position of strength.
It's not from a position of a self-awareness of superpower status.
We're proceeding here as though we got a guilt complex and that we owe the world a bunch of apologies, shrinkage, and who knows whatever else.
But this is not good.
Anyways, I say the polling data on this Iran deal is not good, folks.
And if Obama's looking at this as a legacy, this is not playing out the way he envisioned.
Remember, legacy, ego, accolades, that stuff's important to Obama.
Now, he's not worried the protesters can stop it.
Remember, these are people that do not like opposition.
Opposition is intolerable.
Opposition is bad.
And they don't like it.
And there were thousands of protesters.
I was kind of surprised to see this, actually.
Thousands of protesters rallied in Times Square against this deal last night.
And there's a lot of pressure in Nuevo Order on Chuck Yu Schumer to vote against this thing as a huge supporter of Israel.
The latest is a senior Iranian official who led the negotiations with world powers that led to the recent deal said that Iran will continue to import and export weapons freely all over the world without restriction.
His name is Abbas Arakchi.
He's Iran's deputy foreign minister.
He said that he insisted during the negotiations that Iran be able to purchase and ship military hardware at any time from any place, according to the comments made on state control TV.
So the Iranians, in addition to running around saying, get to America, this does not change our policy to the Israelis or the Americans at all.
We still hate them.
We are going to continue importing and exporting weapons from all over the world, no matter what this deal says.
You know, Kerry's running around saying, I didn't know that.
He said he hasn't seen the side deals.
Nobody has, by the way, because they're not between the signatories.
The side deals between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Nobody's seen them.
But Kerry said he's sure they're fine.
He's sure that they're fine.
Nothing really to see here.
And in fact, right at the Washington Examiner, Kerry doesn't know what's in the Iran side.
You know where they found?
This was closed session.
They had a closed committee hearing.
This Mike Pompeo, Republican congressman, said that Kerry told lawmakers he has not read the side deals, never possessed a copy of them, and approved the entire nuclear agreement without knowing the details of what's in these two side deals that we first mentioned to you yesterday.
Kerry said these side deals, well, they were essentially getting a deal signed in the first place.
Iran believed the side deals to be important to an overall agreement, and so should we, Kerry said.
No, he didn't.
I'm sorry, that's Pompeo saying that.
He's saying that Kerry should have known what's in these side deals and didn't because they were essentially getting something passed in the first place.
Again, this is a closed, I don't know how the word leaked.
Well, I know how it leaked.
I'm surprised that it did, but it was closed testimony because of the nature and ramifications of national security.
Okay, folks, another brief time out, and we will continue time to start thinking about working your phone calls into the mix here.
So that's coming up, too.
So sit.
As I say, folks, much more straight ahead, just getting warmed up.
The Planned Parenthood fiasco is continuing to explode.
