Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 Podcast.
The views expressed by the host on this program, not necessarily those of the staff management nor sponsors of this station.
They probably are if they would admit it to you in private.
But if they aren't, they soon will be.
Rush Limbaugh simply dominating the American media landscape.
Great to have you here, folks.
Revved and ready for another busy broadcast day at 800-282-2882.
And the email address L Rushbaugh at EIBNet.com.
All right, Jim Harbaugh's the coach of the Michigan Wolverines.
Just having left the San Francisco Foreigners.
He was on real sports last night with Brian Gumble.
You see, it's time to go after Jim Harbaugh.
Jim Harbaugh left the Fordiners in a cloud of controversy.
The management of the Foreigners said that he was out of control, too domineering, too hectic, too frantic, too frenetic, too uncooperative, just didn't meld well with others.
The players that played for Harbaugh said that was really kind of a bunch of gunk.
But it is what it is.
Then Harbaugh goes to the University of Michigan, which is alma mater, he played there, star quarterback in Michigan, and has uh done what he's always done wherever he's gone.
He's united things, he's uplifted things, and he's uh in the process of rebuilding that program.
And Harbaugh is apparently of a political or ideological persuasion that is not acceptable to many in the sports drive-by medium, as evidenced by the discovery among some players, the Forderners who now echoing what management said about Harbaugh.
Long after he's gone, after he's arrived in Michigan.
So here comes HBO's real sports with Bryant Gumble to get to the bottom of it, and of all the things that Coach Harbaugh said, of all the things he could have said, that would have resulted in a bullseye being painted on his back, it was this, being profiled by Andrea Kramer for HBO's Real Sports.
This goes by real fast here, folks.
It's 11 seconds in three, two, one.
I love football.
Love it, love it.
I think it's the last bastion of hope for toughness in America in men in males.
Oh no!
Oh, whatever else he thinks, that's not what football is today.
Football's not a bastion for toughness.
It's not a bastion of anything uplifting or good for men or anybody else.
Football is brutality.
Football is career-ending, life-threatening injury just by stepping on the field.
Football is concussions.
Football is CTE.
Football is potential post-career suicide.
Football is maybe too dangerous to play, and here comes Harbaugh.
That says a lot about the 11 seconds that we know a lot about Jim Harbaugh.
A lot of people who didn't know Harbaugh didn't know a thing about Harbaugh now, know who it you I mean, can you imagine the millennial reaction to this?
I mean, we are living in a culture that is attacking patriarchy.
The culture in America today has zeroed in, and it's been going on for what's been building since the modern era of the Feminazis since the late 60s and early 70s, and it's built and been building now to attacking patriarchy, to attacking male-dominated anything, to attacking men as in their natural state, predators.
And brutes and unsophisticated, dangerous beings around whom women have to be very careful, especially where college camp eye, and where happens to be Harbaugh on a Big college camp eye.
And what did he say?
I love football.
Love it.
Love it.
I think it's the last bastion of hope for toughness in America in men in males.
What do you think of that, folks?
Especially you guys.
Well, I'm gonna not just guys, everybody.
That to me, those 11 seconds perfectly define who Jim Harbaugh is.
And they give us a great uh indicator into how he views things in this country.
If you're gonna run around and say it's the last bastion of hope for toughness in America in men in males, the last bastion.
I I he probably would include the military in there as well, but but uh he's talking on obviously things that are here in what we call the private sector.
So let's jump forward here to audio soundbite number 18.
This is Brian Gumble and Andrea Kramer uh reacting, Gumble here kind of mocking Harbaugh as a Neanderthal.
Henry, I want to make sure I get this right.
Football.
The last bastion of hope for toughness in America in males.
Not exactly a quote for the age of enlightenment.
This is how he feels.
This is who Jim Harbaugh is.
This this marks him, and this is exactly who he is.
Not exactly a quote for the age of enlightenment.
So lady, here we have in a grand total at 16, a grand total of 27 seconds.
We have an A B side by side contrast of what the enlightened and what the leftist elites happen to think about culture, society, strength, fortitude, uh, and what the people who engage in that activity happen to think about it.
Now, here's a former player back up there in audio sound by number 17, Alex Boone, who played for Harbaugh at the uh at the at the Forders.
This is one of the players they found since Harbaugh left.
After a while, you just want to kick his ass.
He just keeps pushing you, and you're like, dude, we got over the mountain.
Stop.
Let go.
He kind of wore out his welcome.
I think he just pushed guys too far.
He wanted too much, demanded too much, expected too much.
And you'd be like, this guy might be clinically insane.
He's crazy.
Now, since that happened, they've released that quote, HBO did uh, I guess earlier this week, or maybe over the weekend.
And since then, a bunch of other players on the Fordiners have come out and disagreed with Alex Moon and say he's a little bit over the top.
But I I think this is uh this is profound and it's interesting, and and I'm I'm glad Jim Harbaugh said what he said.
And I'm I'm I'm glad that Gumble reacted to it the way he did.
I think this kind of illumination is good.
In other words, Gumble epitomizes the modern day cultural left.
He simply epitomizes this, and to him, any notion of toughness in men, and a last bastion of hope in football being representative and an example of toughness in America as somehow unacceptable.
Would John Wayne be put in jail today?
Would John Wayne be ridiculed and mocked and claimed, would they say of John Wayne that he was a poor role model and a bad influence for young American men who are simply trying to feel their way along.
That's a bad choice of words on the campus, who are simply trying to find their way on campus.
If there's if any of you had any doubt that modern-day liberalism features among many of its other qualities and objectives, an all-out assault on manliness.
You have evidence to the contrary right here.
It clearly is.
Okay, now I led with this.
Although this is fascinating to me.
I was, it was, it was in a toss-up to be the lead item.
But there's a next item is a Hillary item.
I'm so bored with Hillary, as you know.
I just I didn't I didn't want to lead with the Hillary story, but she's out there, she said something literally idiotic, and I know she doesn't believe it, and it illustrates that she's pandering, that she thinks the the um uh that after all of these years of Obama that there's still some doubt that she is extremist leftist enough.
She actually said, she was out talking to a bunch of economists, and she said that we need to topple the one percent in order to save the American economy.
When you what do you think when you hear topple, what do you think of?
Destroy overthrow.
You think you think military coup something like topple the one percent, she and her husband are in the top one percent of the one percent.
All of the people they hang with are in the one percent.
She's no more gonna topple those people than she is going to reverse herself on abortion.
But yet she thinks that she has to go out and say it.
She has to prove it because apparently she believes that there is doubt out there in the Democrat Party base of her credentials as a serious and honest leftist.
In other words, so look what she thinks that she has to say in order to show shore up her support from that lunatic base the Democrat Party has created.
You have to go out and you actually have to promise to destroy the 1% in order to prove your bona fines to them.
And everybody knows that she is in no way, shape, manner, or form believes this, and that in no way, shape, matter, or form is she gonna do it any more than Obama has done it.
The victims of people like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are the little guy, the middle class, the supposed beneficiaries of socialism, the so supposed beneficiaries of the whole concept of the redistribution of wealth.
And that's what she's talking about.
By toppling the rich, I'm gonna go get their money.
I'm gonna take it away from my first target's gonna be the Koch brothers.
I'm gonna take everything they've got.
Yeah, you do that, and then give it to me.
That's right.
That's what they expect.
Hillary's gonna take the money from them and redistribute it, and somehow, these insane lunatic leftists that comprise a Democrat base are somehow going to end up with the money.
Yet 50 years or more, and they don't have a dime more to show for their votes for the Democrats than they would have otherwise.
Topple the one percent.
We had a soundbite yesterday I didn't get to.
I asked that it be saved.
It was.
Monday afternoon, Keene, New Hampshire.
Hillary Clinton at the Whitney Brothers Furniture Company.
She held a round table campaign event during the event.
This is what she said about small business in America.
From my perspective, I want to be sure that we get small businesses starting and growing in America again.
We have stalled out.
I was very surprised to see that when I began to dig into it because people were telling me this as I traveled around the country the last two years, but I didn't know what they were saying, and it turns out that we're uh not producing as many small businesses as we used to.
I I I listened to this, and I just I marvel at it.
If we take it at face value, on one hand, we have just listened to an unapologetic, abject idiot, taken at face value.
If we look at this through the prism of Democrat politics, we have just completed six years of the presidency of the first African American president of the country, historical president, who has had a great economic recovery plan, who has had a you remember starting with the stimulus and Obamacare and a number of other things.
We've got unemployment down to 5.5%, and the economy is roaring and is grim.
I mean, that's the line the regime puts out.
Mrs. Clinton is of the same party as the first African American president, and she served in the regime as Secretary of State.
And she's running around saying, you know what, people have been telling me for the past couple of years that small business has kind of slowed down, small business creation, leveled off, and it's it's didn't uh I was surprised.
I dug into that because people were telling me this.
I traveled around the country, but I I didn't know what they were saying.
How in the world can you not know what the status is of the people in this country whom you want to vote for you?
How can you possibly be alive and breathing, even if you're traveling all over the world?
How can you possibly be alive and breathing and not understand the plight?
Economic plight of people in this country.
How can you not see 92 million not working and know what that means?
How can you not see record numbers of people on food stamps and not know what that means?
Now, secretly and privately, all of those numbers are good for Mrs. Clinton.
The more people on the federal dole, the better.
That's how they view compassion, and that's how they view their route and access uh to power and claiming and holding on to it.
But then to run around and and to willingly portray herself as ignorant.
Yeah, I had people telling me the last two years, small business creation is really uh is really down and I uh telling me this.
And I didn't know what they were saying.
What's so hard about small business is in trouble?
What what how do you not know what somebody's saying when they tell you that?
If anything, Hillary Clinton's in the process here of toppling herself.
And to that extent, being in the one percent, she may be suicidal in this sense, but this is just incredible.
As it turns out, we're not producing as small many small businesses as we used to.
Yeah, when.
Now, how do you think this went over at the regime?
Well, last night on MS, NBC, and we've lifted the ban on MSNBC for one Obama soundbite because it does not contain any MSNBC anchor or newsman or personality or what have you.
So this comes under the guidelines here of fair usage.
I actually do not have to lift the ban on MSNBC to use this because this could have happened anywhere.
So the question Obama got was, okay, Hillary's out there saying yesterday, the economy is stalling and small businesses down, and it's been bad for a while, and she just found out about it.
What do you think?
The truth is that we are the strongest economy among the advanced economies right now.
What does that say?
And the the main reason uh the main way that we're going to strengthen the economy and keep the momentum that we've had over the last six years is to adopt the agenda that I've talked about.
Let's rebuild our infrastructure.
We could be putting people back to work right now.
Do we run we're in the seventh year here?
The seventh year, and we're still talking as though Obama's just got inaugurated?
$820 billion for a stimulus bill that was to rebuild the infrastructure, repair roads and bridges, and rebuild our screws.
And of course, it didn't happen.
The money went to Obama's union buddies.
We're in the seventh year of his regime, and he's talking as though this is the first year.
And all these great things and this things that we need to do to grow the economy.
There's a story from the AP today.
Employers cut jobs in 31 states as growth slows.
What growth?
There isn't any growth.
Harsh winter weather and a labor dispute at left coast ports.
The disrupted shipping dragged down the economy in the first three months of the year.
All told economists forecast the growth slowed to an annual rate of 1% or less in the first quarter.
Do you know what they told us it was last year?
Second half of last year was 3.4%.
That's what they told us.
Growth rate, 3.4%.
The first three months of this year less than 1% economic growth.
So Mrs. Clinton is right.
Small business is down.
Every economic indicator is down.
The unemployment number's a lie.
It's a totally made up and miscalculated number.
And Obama is running around irritated that Hillary is running down the economy, and so is Jen Pasaki.
Here's what she said about that.
Well, I don't know the statistics that Secretary Clinton was looking at, so that's a good question.
But I can tell you that small business growth has been a huge priority for this president.
The economy is better than it was six years ago.
If it's been a huge priority, he is an abject failure because small business growth is stagnating like everything else in this economy is, except the 1%, many of whom have relationships with the Obama regime, propping them up back after this.
Reviews expressed by the host on this program documented Always right, 99.7% of the time.
Okay, so here's where we are.
Mrs. Clinton says that many small businesses have gone away.
Small business growth has stagnated.
We're losing ground in the small business sector.
Overall the economy is dragging.
And then after admitting, and by the way, I wonder how many small businesses have paid her 300 grand to speak.
Or her husband 500 grand to speak.
So she's out there acknowledging that small business is in a rut, that the economy has slowed down, and on top of that, she promises a bunch of economists that she's going to topple the 1%.
She's just gonna wipe out everybody.
And she's gonna end up calling it fairness, which is exactly how the left defines equality.
Misery shared equally.
And once that happens, then everything's okay.
Once the misery is spread every they never try to spread joy.
Incapable of it.
The left is incapable of inspiration.
They're incapable of uplifting.
They're too angry, they're too mad, they're too pessimistic.
Never happy, no matter what they get.
So now everybody has to be miserable.
Everybody has to be unhappy, otherwise it isn't fair.
And this is the woman who is said to be the presumptive Democrat nominee.
You want to know how bad it is economically?
Try this.
This is from the Washington Examiner.
The agriculture department.
The agriculture department has determined that 36 pounds of food per person is wasted every month, which is about 21% of the available food supply in the U.S. So now the regime is coming after average ordinary Americans as wasteful, uncaring, slothful slobs.
You know who you are.
36 pounds of food per person wasted every month, 21% of the available food in the U.S., and there's one big reason.
The regime's agriculture department says that the expiration dates are either wrong or are overly cautious.
So they have a solution.
Just hold your nose and eat it.
Even if it is 18 months past the expiration date.
As a way of combating what they claim is profligate waste on the part of a bunch of spoiled rotten Americans.
You need to start eating food that is even 18 months past its expiration date.
Because these expiration dates are wrong anyway.
They have no basis in reality or Fact.
That food is still good.
This could also be titled Managing the Decline, Chapter 5.
Here we have our caring nanny state.
Wanting all of us to start eating stale food.
Obama's agriculture department thinks that flavor and texture and freshness and the nutritional value of food is vastly overrated.
as exhibited by expiration dates.
We are to be no different now than cows and horses eating months-old bales of hay.
That's right, my friends.
The masses should join everywhere else in the world and start eating antique food as a tribute to the efficiency of the state.
With so much food being wasted, what's the answer?
Eat spoiled food.
Eat food that has survived long beyond the expiration date.
Now, I guess some of you might think, Rush, wait a minute, before you go to town on this, they might have a point.
There's a lot of stuff out there.
The expiration date could be totally wrong.
Rush, have you not opened a bank of potato chips long after the expiration date and it tasted fine?
Yeah, I have to admit that I have.
Rush, haven't you prepared a box of Kraft mac and cheese long past the expiration date and it tasted fine?
I don't know about that.
Come on, Rush, haven't you given your dog or your cat food long beyond the expiration date on the can?
Absolutely not.
That stuff's rotten to begin with.
Now you might think the expiration dates, they're a little aggressive, and the food does last longer to the date, but wait, folks, because what's next?
There's always a what's next.
If this is the way the regime wants to combat what they think is food waste.
And by the way, that whole notion there is you and me and everybody else, eating more than our share and wasting it.
It is a it's in itself.
It's a great illustration of the contempt these people have for what they consider to be average ordinary Americans.
You just don't know how to live your life.
You're wasting all this food while they're starving in Biafra, while they're starving in Darfur, who knows where.
And you are wasting it all.
And we're wasting a bunch of water trying to produce food to replace that which doesn't need to be replaced because the expiration dates are wrong.
So let's just start taking the quality of everything.
The what's next?
How about medicine, folks?
How about next the regime starts calculating the amount of medicine that's wasted?
Oh yeah.
And you know how expensive this is because big pharma is just a bunch of rapists.
Big pharma, they're running out there, they overcharge, they don't care about people getting sick, and they don't care about people getting well.
Big farmers like big tobacco.
They're out, this is what the left said, killing their customers.
Which is actually what they believe.
So the next thing that would happen.
Hey, take this expired medicine.
We've run tests.
It doesn't matter what the expiration date that your farm has put on that label is, it's fine.
Go ahead and take it.
So a bunch of maniacal control freaks.
Then you look at the food that ends up on a school lunch tray sponsored by Michelle Obama, and you find out why so much food is wasted.
They're serving absolute rotten junk.
All in the name of health.
So eating old and tasteless food now will become a sign of loyalty to the regime.
A sign of maybe even patriotism.
They're gonna ration health care, and they're gonna ration health care and they're gonna ration medicine, and one of the ways they're gonna do it is using the expiration dates, and they're gonna be death panels.
You'll be told how long you can shower in California.
That's already beginning to happen.
Power companies will soon control everybody's thermostats on the orders of the regime because everybody's wasting everything, you see.
You're just a bunch of selfish, profligate wasters.
And people who know better have to come in and take control.
Where'd this whole notion of we're wasting food start anyway?
Maybe with Jeremiah Wright talking about all the food cruise ships through overboard could feed Haiti for a year or whatever it was he said.
And all of this is happening.
All of this is being talked about.
All of this has as its root Earth Day, which is today.
Speaking of Earth Day, I have a little stack here on Earth Day, but at the top of it is this from the Daily Caller.
Record number of drivers are trading in electric cars for SUVs.
Did you see this, Snertly?
President Obama promised to put a million more hybrid and electric cars on the road during his tenure, but new research shows that drivers are trading them in to buy SUVs.
The auto research group, Edmonds.com found that 22% of people who have traded in their hybrids and electric cars in 2015 so far have bought SUVs.
And the number is higher than the 19% that did the same last year.
So it's an increasing number of people from two years ago to last year to this year who are getting rid of their hybrids and getting rid of their electric cars.
Why do you think that might be, by the way?
Ponder that.
I've taken break.
Why would people be getting rid of their hybrids?
I mean, these are statement cars.
These are cars that you put yourself in and you drive around, and you're making a statement.
You'll say you're better than somebody else that's not driving one, that you care and they don't.
That you are doing you are saving the planet.
You are saving the climate.
You're a good citizen.
And yet the allure of all of that seems to be fading, and people are getting rid of these vehicles and opting for what they probably wanted all along, a giant gas hog SUV.
Why would they be willing to do this?
Why is the bloom off the rose?
Why is the luster of the statement of driving a hybrid or an electric car seeming to vanish.
Especially when our dear leader has made it a personal request and a personal quest to make sure that at least a million new drivers every year are driving around in plug-in electric cars or hybrids.
Yes, my friends, I love it.
Rush Lib, the EIB network, great to have you at 800 282-2882.
I remember the 2011 State of the Union show.
Obama called for one million electric plug-in cars to be on the road by 2015.
And people are getting rid of them in record numbers, and it's not just getting rid of them, they're replacing them with evil SUVs.
He said he was going to create millions of jobs.
He was going to save the planet just by having people drive electric cars.
And of course, other aspects of his insane policy.
The funny thing about top-down authoritarian command and control economies is that they just don't work.
Free markets decide what works and what's best.
And Obama's electric car promises were as valid as his Obamacare promises.
They were as empty and as meaningless.
Obamacare far more damaging because you just can't opt out of Obamacare like you can opt out of your electric car or your hybrid.
But both were based on the same ill-conceived ideology pitched by Hillary Clinton when she says she's going to topple the one percent.
We're going to take down all the signs of the good life.
We're going to take down all the trappings of success.
We're going to obliterate the outward indications of prosperity.
That's not fair.
When everybody doesn't have it, it's offensive.
It is irritating, and it's dispiriting.
And we're going to get rid of it.
The only people going to have anything going to be your dear leaders.
And you're not going to be able to do or say a thing about it.
These people do not think like us.
And they do not share our values.
They don't know what's good for anyone else anymore than they know what's good for themselves.
They're just a bunch of power hungry, micromanaging creeps when you get right down to it, who really don't know what they think they know.
That is the real.
Now we've got to eat stale food, a sign of patriotism, a sign of good citizenship.
Next will be stale medicine.
Because the regime is going to demand efficiency and fealty.
You had better do what they say.
Let me grab a phone call here before we uh there's I mean, is I I still haven't gotten out of the lighthearted stack here yet.
They planted a tree and said, Did you hear about this?
Did you hear about this?
They planted a tree in in a park in Ferguson for the gentle giant.
You have heard about.
Yeah, and some vandals came along and just chopped it down.
I mean, they just stripped it bare.
It's just it's nothing but a twig standing there now.
I mean, who would do something like that?
Ferguson, Missouri may be the only place though where you can rob a convenience store and attack a cop and then plant a tree for you.
And memorialize you in a park.
Oh well.
Here's uh here's Jerry in Sacramento.
This is my adopted hometown, and it's great to have you on the program.
Jerry, how are you?
Oh, good morning, Mr. Lumbots.
Um to be here.
Uh just thought it needed to be pointed out to the American public, especially those who are victims of public education, that if you're on food stamp for welfare, your income is in the top one percent of the world.
So technically, Hillary's the longest.
Okay, now now now hang hang on just a minute out there, dear.
Um I want you to understand how people listening to the program are gonna hear that.
There's a guy, there's a guy at the Heritage Foundation named Robert Rector, and he has done his life's work has been researching the subject you're talking about, welfare and virtually every aspect of it.
And he has he has written several reports which make similar claims to what you just claimed.
He says something like Poverty in the US equals prosperity in much of the world.
Now you have just put it in real terms.
You have just said that people on food stamps and welfare in America are in the top one percent of the world.
Could you back up that assertion?
Uh yeah, if you've got any money in your pocket, any money, that puts you in the top 78% of income.
Okay.
If you own the radio, you're listening to this show on.
That's it.
You're in the top one percent.
If you have any money in your pocket, you're top one percent competitive people in the world.
I know what it is.
You know, actually, one of the truths, there's a there's a guy, uh oh, I'm having a mental block in his name.
I've interviewed him for the Limbaugh Letter.
He used to be the Reagan administration.
Um three years ago, he wrote a piece, I think it was for USA Today, but I'm not sure which, in which he said the biggest untold story in all of journalism is the decline in poverty around the world.
Oh, what's the man's having a mental block on his it'll who?
No, not no, not Art Lafford.
No, no, no, no, not Art Laffer.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
He wasn't a cabinet level guy or anything like that.
He was uh you'll know the name when I when I remember it, but his point was that the United States, as the leader of the free world, just by virtue of our existence, uh, as the world's lone superpower,
as the good guys in the world, as a result of defending freedom and liberty all over the world have raised the standard of living in parts of the world that used to be in the depths of poverty, like most of this population this country would never even be able to relate to.
And it is it's something he said the U.S. should be credited for.
The statistics did happen to uh materialize during the uh Obama administration.
Um so actually, economic circumstances for many in the world is on the rise, still, however, far below the poverty level in this country.
So Jerry here essentially has a point, but we gotta take a break.
Wait till you hear Bill Clinton's description of ISIS.
