Time Text
Hi, how are you?
Welcome back.
Rush Limbaugh and the increasingly popular growing by leaps and bounds.
Rush Limbaugh program.
Fun, frolic, and frivolity for all, as well as the serious discussion of issues.
A combination unlike that found anywhere else in major media.
Telephone number, if you want to be on the program, 800-282-2882.
The email address is lrushbow at eibnet.com.
The world knows him as...
No, no, no.
Folks, I can't divulge.
I didn't mean to tease you.
I told Snerdly what it is.
I'm not even going to tell you because I don't want to convey something I heard last night that just really ticked me off about the Republican presidential field.
But it ticked me off because it made me think, we're hopeless.
We'd have a prayer.
It was in a conversation about local, major, big-time Republican money here in South Florida and about how 95% of it's going to Jeb Bush.
But that was not the deal.
It was the discussion of other candidates and what some of these people thought of some of the other candidates.
It just sent me to the moon.
I said, you know what?
We don't have a prayer.
We deserve to lose if that's the attitude people are going to have.
Or that's the basis on which you're going to judge.
I don't, you know, I don't like that guy.
Sometimes his eyes, it just makes, I don't know, they're too close together or something.
I don't know.
Gee, Wiz, are you kidding me?
No, I mean it.
I always don't, no, it worries me.
I said, well, okay, then.
What are we even talking about?
So that's what I say.
This job, sometimes it's getting harder and harder.
And I'm not complaining.
I'm just being upfront, open, and honest.
Anyway, that's what it was.
It did any big deal.
And I didn't mean to engage in a huge tease about this.
It was just a – we had a caller with a decent question.
He says, look, is the embarrassing lack of action by Republicans in the House and Senate going to have a negative effect on the Republican presidential candidate?
And what the caller meant by that was, Republicans in the House and Senate going to so anger Republican voters that no nominee is going to have a chance because Republican voters are just going to say, screw it and stay home, mad at the whole party.
And my answer to him was, no, the candidate will overcome that.
The candidate's going to determine the turnout.
If there's a, if somebody in the Republican field really just lurches to the top of it and becomes captivating and inspiring and dominating, that person will determine the turnout.
It won't matter the stupid things or other things that Republicans in the House of Senate have done.
Presidential turnouts are, as we know, different from elections where there is no presidential election.
The nominee will determine the degree to which Republican voters show up.
The nominee will have the greatest effect on energy and enthusiasm on the part of the part of the electorate.
That just reminded me of some things that I've been hearing lately.
That's what I got on the verge.
I was on the verge of sharing with you, and I ran out of time for the break.
And that's really all it was.
I don't know.
When I hear why, for example, remember when I showed you, or told you how frustrated I got at a dinner party I hosted, I walked out of my own dinner party one night because a couple of guests said, we got to get rid of Sarah Palin because the media has destroyed her.
That just, that sent me to the moon.
Because what I was hearing essentially was, We are totally prisoners to what the media says about our candidates.
And I said, if that's true, we're never going to win because the media is going to rip every one of our candidates.
The media is going to try to destroy everyone.
What you guys are telling me is that you're perfectly fine with the media determining who our nominee is.
If the media destroys somebody, you're going to say you're going to throw that somebody overboard, can't win because the media has decided to attack them.
And I said, I can't take this.
And I got up and walked out.
Poor Catherine followed me out and said, what was that?
And I said, I'm sorry.
I just lost it in there.
I said, it's getting tougher and tougher and tougher to suffer fools.
I never have done that well.
She said, yeah, but you're the host.
You can't act that way.
I said, don't worry, that's exactly how they expected me to act.
They're going to walk out of here thinking it's one of the greatest parties they've been.
They can't wait to tell everybody what happened.
They may have even wanted that to happen.
She said, well, you shouldn't have let them have it then.
I said, that was an honest reaction.
When I hear anything like that, it doesn't matter what it is.
It just, all it does is tell me sometimes how impossible this task is.
I would think right now, given everything happening in the country, I know that television matters.
I know that telegenics is a big deal.
I know that how somebody looks on television, how they command them.
I know all of that.
I know that, for example, Abraham Lincoln could not be elected president today, given the conventional wisdom about how important TV is.
Abraham Lincoln was ugly.
He's gangly.
He was gawky.
He did not have a penetrating voice.
He couldn't get elected today.
And I will admit that frustrates me, particularly now.
It's serious.
We need to elect somebody who can do a bunch of things.
Beat the left in an election and beat the left legislatively.
If other than that, all this is academic.
We're just flapping our gums here.
But what I fear, the more full-fledged, and when I say Republicans as opposed to consider, when I talk to full-fledged Republicans, just party people, donors, bundlers, fundraisers, you name it, to them it's just about beating the Democrats.
It's all it is.
It's about winning, which I'm not trying to diminish that, but with what doesn't seem to matter.
Just the idea of getting the chairmanships, just winning so that we have the power that goes along with running this country and having access to all the money in this country, rather than wanting to win it for specific reasons like reversing the path Obama has put this country on.
I think that kind of matters.
And when I encounter people who are oblivious to it, it just frustrates me.
It's no more complicated than that.
And I don't think the way I see things is that hard to figure out.
I don't think the way I see things is that unique.
I don't think the way I see things, to me, everybody ought to see it this way.
Most of you in this audience do.
So, all it was, I didn't mean to artificially or in a mean, spirited broadcast kind of way, tease you and then not divulge what I was talking about.
That was essentially it.
Now, the world knows this guy as Jihad John.
He's the masked man with a British accent who has beheaded several hostages held by the Islamic State, who taunts audiences in videos circulated widely online.
But his real name, his real name, according to friends and others familiar with his case, is Mohammed Imwazi.
He is a Briton from a well-to-do family who grew up in West London.
He graduated from college with a degree in computer programming.
Now, who's going to break this news to Obama and to Marie Harf?
Because they believe that only poor people with no opportunities in life take up violent extremism in the name of Islam.
Despite being called young Londoner and a Briton in a Washington Post, it turns out that Mohammed Imwazi is a Muslim born in Kuwait.
He's a well-to-do Muslim born in Kuwait.
They don't tell you that.
They tell you he's a well-born Briton.
He's a young Londoner.
They're talking about somebody that beheads innocent people.
He's a Briton.
He's a young Londoner.
One of Imwazi's close friends who identified him in an interview with the Washington Post said, I have no doubt that Mohammed is Jihadi John.
He was like a brother to me.
I'm sure that it's him.
The Kuwaiti-born Imwazi, now in his mid-20s, appears to have left little trail on social media or elsewhere online.
Those who knew him say that he was polite.
He had a penchant for wearing stylish clothes while adhering to the tenets of his Islamic faith.
He had a beard and was mindful of making eye contact with women, friends said.
He was raised in a middle-class neighborhood in London and on occasion prayed at a mosque in Greenwich.
In other words, you're just your average young Londoner.
The way these people get whitewashed, it just is amazing to me.
Just absolutely shouldn't be, but it is.
Ben Carson opened up at CPAC today and he let fly.
Dr. Benjamin Carson charged the Democrats with taking advantage of blacks, trying to keep blacks suppressed to cultivate their votes.
He got very aggressive.
He said, if you're black and you oppose the progressive agenda and you are pro-life and you're pro-family, they don't know what to call you.
He said, it really is not compassionate to pat people on the head and say, there, there, you poor little thing, I'm going to take care of all your needs.
He let fly Dr. Benjamin Carson at CPAC today.
Mr. Snerdley, the name Byron Allen ring a bell with you.
Byron Allen, some people confused him with Arsenio Hall back in the day.
Byron Allen, talk show host.
You know who he is.
Okay, well, he hasn't been prominent on TV in a while.
He's in a production company, but he used to have a show about the same time Arsenio did this.
Some people confused them.
Byron Allen is taking on Al Sharpton, President Obama, and the most powerful media corporations in the world in a battle to spotlight the crisis at the heart of American race relations.
It is a daunting mission, but for some reason he doesn't sound scared.
This is in a daily caller, by the way, Chatsworth Osborne Jr.'s website.
Byron Allen told the Daily Caller top media interests are actively freezing out, in some cases destroying black-owned media companies, and that they are paying Reverend Sharpton to give them racial cover to do it.
Now, this is, he's not the first with this.
We had this news a couple of days ago.
Sharpton was hired by MSNBC as a payoff.
They bribed Sharpton.
Well, now they didn't bribe him.
He bribed them.
What happened was they paid Reverend Sharpton off.
They gave him an MSNBC show in exchange for Sharpton shutting up about the Comcast-Time Warner merger.
Otherwise, Sharpton would have been out there protesting it, demanding this, shaking them down, shaking whoever down.
MSNBC hired him.
NBC hired him, and that bought his silence and his acquiescence.
Byron Allen is coming on and amplifying that now.
Byron Allen, the chairman, CEO of the production company Entertainment Studios, and it's joined with the National Association of African American Owned Media to file a $20 billion racial discrimination lawsuit this week against Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Al Sharpton's National Action Network, the NAA LCP and the Urban League, and former FCC Commissioneret Meredith Atwell Baker.
Allen, his fellow plaintiffs, also filed a $10 billion suit against AT ⁇ T and DirecTV.
And we had news of the suit in the name of the group a couple days ago.
Byron Allen, who I'm sure some of you know, is actually part of it and is leading the effort, and it is noteworthy.
It's just not everybody's falling in.
I mean, there's opportunity popping up left and right to bust up the leftist coalition.
And I think one of the reasons so many of these groups are popping up is because the Republicans in Washington aren't.
I think there's so much frustration all over this country with no pushback, no fight back against this administration and the Democrat Party that people are taking it up themselves, which is good.
The natural thing to happen.
Quick time out.
Did you hear?
I just want to review the White House is calling illegal immigrants Americans in waiting now.
They have, at least in administration parlance, the term has been changed.
White House used the new phrase on Tuesday in an update on Obama's executive amnesty actions, the title of which is Taking Action to Unlock the Economic Contributions of Americans in Waiting.
That's how the regime is calling.
That's what the regime is calling Obama's executive actions.
Now, there's another story we haven't gotten to yet today that's part of the Daily Soap Opera, and I mentioned at the top of the program, and that's Hillary and her re-emergence and what she's been doing and what some things involving that mean.
That and your phone calls still to come.
You're on the EIB network.
Stay right with us.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's not Americans in waiting.
It's unregistered Democrats in waiting.
If we're going to call these people what they really are, they are unregistered Democrats in waiting or undocumented Democrats in waiting.
They're Americans in waiting.
In addition to all of this, illegal immigrants who are able to obtain social security numbers and work permits as a result of Obama's executive amnesty could also claim tens of thousands of dollars in back tax benefits, according to a new Congressional Research Service memo obtained by Breitbart News.
Now, this news comes following the IRS confirmation that once illegal immigrants are granted social security numbers as a result of executive actions, they will then be able to file back tax returns and obtain up to four years of tax benefits, including the earned income tax credit, the child tax credit.
So we're going to have some retroactive tax benefits as well.
We're going to give them social security numbers and all the rest of it, work permits, as part of executive amnesty.
And then we're going to say, we should have given it to you four years ago.
Our bad.
You have been mistreated.
So since we should have done this for you four years ago, we're going to let you refile your tax returns from four years ago.
This is going to result in many of the people we're talking about being given tax refund benefits totaling $35,000.
Now, you know, with this little fact alone, if you doubted it, there's much more here than just bringing people out of the shadows.
If we're also going to make their tax filing retroactive for one reason over, only so they get benefits, we're not refiling or letting them refile taxes from four years ago, three years ago, two years ago, so that we can collect more tax revenue.
No, no, they were entitled to benefits that they didn't get.
And we are now going to let them have benefits from four years ago because we should have done this four years ago.
That's the only justification for it.
And it's going to end up being around $35,000.
For a family with three children in the four years 2011 through 2014, the phase-out threshold amount would be able to obtain $35,521 in the earned income tax credit, child tax credit combined.
A family of four in that same four-year period would get $35,560.
So in addition to granting them amnesty, we are effectively going to hand each of them if they are in a family of three or four.
And we'll find a way to make that happen.
I mean, who can say that they're not, right?
We don't know who they are in the shadows and stuff.
Who knows what's going on in the shadows?
So each one of them is going to be given 35 grand to boot.
It's a Democrat signing bonus.
That's why these people are Democrats, unregistered Democrats in waiting.
I mean, hell, Apple Computer is trying to purloin employees from Tesla.
And they're giving them $250,000 signing bonuses.
The regime is giving illegals a $35,000 signing bonus.
You think they're not going to vote Democrat after that, folks?
Ha!
And just a couple of more items related.
This from theHill.com a couple of days ago, IRS would allow people to keep extra money from Obamacare tax error.
People who received incorrect tax information from Obamacare will be allowed to keep the extra money in their refunds and will not have to refile their taxes, says the Treasury Department.
This is Tuesday.
Very generous the regime is with taxpayers' money when it's going to his people.
You have to figure that most of the people signed up for Obamacare are Democrat freeloaders.
Not all, not all most.
And then this from the Seattle Post Intelligencer: about 13,000 customers of Washington's Obamacare Health Exchange had tripled their premiums withdrawn from their bank accounts this week, a mistake that Washington Health Plan Finder promises to rectify within two days.
The overbilling hit exchange customers whose monthly health premiums are automatically withdrawn from their bank accounts.
Man, you let the regime debit your bank account?
13,000 people did, and the regime triple-billed them.
This is the state of Washington.
Still haven't gotten to Hillary.
We may not.
Don't get discouraged.
It's always tomorrow.
But I got to get back to the phones here.
People have been waiting patiently, and they still want to weigh in a bunch of things.
Warrensburg, Missouri is next.
This is Leslie, and I'm glad you called.
Great to have you with us.
Hello.
Thank you, Rush.
I have a simple question.
Why do we allow those in the federal and state and local level obey unlawful orders or unlawful executive orders?
I was in the Marine Corps, and the one thing that was stressed is you do not obey an unlawful order.
And I do not understand the inconsistency.
Well, I don't know.
I think I do.
First place, we don't know how many people that are charged with actually being on the front line of implementing Obama's executive actions actually disagree with him.
I think you have to understand the regime has, they know who they have working for them, and they know who's friendly and who's unfriendly, and they're not going to put unfriendlies in the front lines, either in ICE or TSA or anywhere else.
They're not.
And even if there were unfriendlies, I don't know that we've reached the point where we'd have that kind of revolt.
I mean, I haven't ever seen it.
Well, it seems very inconsistent.
I feel like someone has got to get in front of this train.
Folks are just chasing his mess as he's throwing it out the window, Washington and Mr. Obama.
And someone's got to get in front of this train or is it going to keep on going?
Well, I know.
You know what?
Everybody's saying that.
And I don't mean this to be insulting.
Please don't take it that way.
Everybody is saying essentially, is somebody going to do something?
And the reason they're saying that is because it's expected that your party leadership that opposes all this would be opposing it.
And what people are seeing is the party leadership they think opposes all this actually throwing in with it.
So they don't know what to do.
They are not lawless themselves.
They're not into civil disobedience, which is really what you're talking about, Leslie.
So most everybody is running around.
Is somebody going to do anything here?
What's happening?
Is nobody going to stop this?
That's a great fear on the minds and in the hearts of many people.
Is nobody going to stop this?
Is anybody going to do something about this?
And everybody's asking if somebody else because they don't think they've got the power to do it themselves.
And, you know, one agent for ICE refusing to follow orders isn't going to stop anything.
That agent will suffer the consequences.
Obama made that clear.
Any agent that fails to implement his commands will suffer consequences.
Obama told everybody that last night on MSNBC.
So, and if somebody balks and refuses, they'll just say next man up and they'll plug another friendly Obama agent in there.
I'm not trying to be defeatist.
You ask the question, this is the answer to it.
The reality is what's happening every day.
There are two or three new things.
Before you have a chance to digest them, there's a new day with three or four new things that you wake up to and find out that they're doing.
And these next two years are going to be filled with days like this.
And everybody is saying, isn't somebody going to stop this?
It's a real source of frustration.
In a normal traditional political order, you would have the political party opposite the Democrats trying to stop it.
Like the Democrats constantly tried to stop Bush, like they constantly tried to stop Reagan, like they constantly tried to stop George H.W. Bush.
So the Democrats, plus they're already oriented, their citizens are towards civil disobedience, rioting, public protest marching, and that kind of stuff.
Our side's too busy working.
It's always been the answer to it.
Barry in Palm Coast, Florida.
Welcome, sir.
Glad you waited.
You're next on the EIB network.
Hello.
Hello, Rush.
Longtime listener, first-time caller.
It's great to have you here, Barry.
I've been telling this story to so many congressmen, the NRA, with no success anywhere.
I'm 72 years old.
12 years ago, my son and I bought a large retail store in north central Pennsylvania.
We carried everything, boots, clothing, had a huge gun department.
It looked like a mini Cabela's, archery, everything.
Full-line plumbing, hardware, supply store.
In 2003 to 2008, we grew the business to $5.5 million.
In 2008, Obama's first year, things were still going good, so we continued to buy inventory.
And in 2009, everything fell apart.
From 2009 to 2013, we couldn't buy a box of ammunition, not one box.
We were, you know, in the big picture, we were a small retailer.
Four years you couldn't buy ammo?
I would say it was starting in 2009 into 2010.
Okay, two years you couldn't buy ammo.
No, no, we still couldn't.
And we got to the point where we couldn't maintain the inventory in our other departments when we couldn't sell guns.
We were a destination store.
People would drive for two hours to get to our place.
They say, I can't believe the service here.
You got everything.
It was wonderful.
And then people would call when they began to have trouble getting ammunition, and they would say, Have you got any ammo?
We had to tell them the truth.
You can't have them drive two hours and not have ammo.
So we tell them no ammo.
So they didn't come.
So they didn't buy boots.
They didn't buy guns.
They didn't buy clothing.
And our sales dropped to $2.5 million.
Last year, they're down to a million and a half.
We had to have a fire sale to get rid of our guns.
We did that.
I lost, I've been relatively successful in business, and the money I put into the store, I had to put in about half of my net worth to keep the place going.
And it's been a disaster.
I've called the NRA, I called everybody, and they would tell us, oh, it's just a normal supply and demand.
It's not supply and demand.
They did.
The NRA told you that?
Yes, the NRA lawyer told me that.
Oh, they knew what was going on.
You couldn't find ammo because the government was buying most of it.
That's absolutely what I believe.
And I'm living proof.
Well, that's not even a mystery.
I mean, it started out as a rumor.
And remember, people that started governments hoarding ammo and so forth.
I remember the news stories, and they were called names.
Their integrity was impugned.
They were called conspiracy kooks and freaks.
And here we are.
The government is banning the ammo now.
That's right.
When everybody suggested that's the next thing to happen, what the government's actually doing is an implied ban by buying up all the stock, by buying up all the supply.
Oh, and it drove the price of ammo through the roof.
Then people began to hoard.
Yeah.
The people that could get ammo.
And you could go to Walmart, who's the largest distributor of the ammunition.
You could go to Cabela's.
They would occasionally get a truckload.
Yeah.
Because I think they were afraid to shut off everything completely.
Who?
The regime?
The regime.
Yeah, afraid to shut off everything.
Yeah.
So I had, I mean, I lost half of my net worth.
We still have.
So is this why you're in Palm Coast today and in north central Pennsylvania?
Right.
And.
So you know it's real.
We know it's real.
And we were afraid to complain.
My son kept saying, Dad, don't say too much, don't say too much.
They could send the ATF in to any gun store in this country and find some violation that would shut you down.
So that was always a fear that we were afraid to complain too loudly.
Well, there you go.
This is exactly how it works.
Fear of the agents coming in and shutting you down.
So you don't make any waves.
You don't complain about it.
You don't want anybody complaining for you.
You don't want to be on the radar.
We were robbed, oh, I don't know what year it was, 2005.
Handguns that broke in, stole all our, smashed the counters, stole all our handguns.
The ATF came in to do an inspection.
They were there for about three days.
We had every gun recorded properly.
They couldn't find one violation.
We were just a small business trying to succeed.
And we went from 25 employees down to four.
We now run a hardware store, barely making things meet.
And then on top of that rush, we're in the middle of the Marcellus shale development.
And it would start, and then it would stop.
Shell would come in, they'd start drilling, then they stopped drilling.
Supposedly, they're coming in again this spring in a big way.
But that's because we have no national energy program.
Instead of investing in liquid nitrogen distribution system, we invested in the cylindras of this world.
Oh, God.
Does the shale drilling help you?
It should.
It should bring a lot of people to town.
If it's consistent and if it starts big time, of course, we're going to.
Well, you know the regime doesn't like shale drilling.
Oh, of course they don't.
It's the only thing we've got left to sell.
I used to be in the steel industry.
The steel industry went to hell.
Then the automotive industry went to hell.
The one thing we have that country around is energy.
Yeah, and the regime is doing its best to suppress that.
Yeah.
We're right on the border of New York.
There are only two states in the United States that don't allow drilling, and that's Vermont and Mr. Cuomo in New York.
And there are poor people in upstate New York should secede from the rest of the state of New York because upstate New York is as poor as it gets.
You've got farmers up there who've got land that probably are sitting on millions of dollars worth of natural gas.
You don't want to use the word secede.
The agents are going to show back up at your hardware store.
Oh, well, that's true.
Yeah.
We don't have much left to shut down.
In a poor town, we used to employ 25 people, and as I said, we're down to four.
Incredible.
Thank you, Obama, right?
I mean, that's policy that has been implemented and it's causing this.
That's the shame of this.
This is the result of policy implementation.
Anyway, Barry, I'm sorry.
I really am.
I feel for you.
We have to take a break here, my friends.
We'll be back in just a moment.
Scott in Huntington Valley, Pennsylvania.
I've got about 35, 40 seconds, but I wanted to get to you here before we have to go.
Rush.
Yeah.
Yeah, how are you doing?
Scott here.
Yeah.
Part of the problem is with the bullets and everything, nobody's getting excited because we're so overwhelmed.
Every day I'm bombarded by this lawlessness and everything they're doing.
The left is just piling on every day, every day.
It's something new.
It's just, I can't take anymore.
Well, I understand what you're saying.
Okay, today it's bullets.
Yesterday it was this or that.
But bullets.
The gun lobby, I mean, the Second Amendment crowned in this country.
This ought to stand out.
This is my feeling about this.
I mean, I thought this would cut through all that other noise.
I thought this would make all that other stuff real.
You may have a point.
Just people are overloaded and overwhelmed, and they're out of emotional outrage now.
Yeah, yeah, I didn't get to the Hillary stuff, but I'm hearing about her every day anyway.
I'll get to it tomorrow, Open Line Friday, which I can't believe is already here, but it is.
Now, hang in there, folks.
Just hang in there and be tough.
