Time Text
Half my brain tied behind my back just to make it fair.
Rushlin Ball meeting and surpassing all audience expectations every program, every day.
It's Friday, so let's keep rolling.
Live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida.
It's open line Friday.
Open line Friday, we relax the rules.
When we screen callers to appear on the program.
Normally you have to talk about something I care about Monday through Thursday, but on Friday you don't.
You can tell and talk about anything you want.
You can ask questions, uh whatever, make comments.
That's why it's a great career risk.
But I happily take it.
Look forward to it each Friday, 800-282-2882, the email address L Rushbow at EIBNet.com.
You know, I never did get a chance to answer the question from Tom in Dexter, Michigan.
I think he was a writer.
I think it was a writer.
And he wanted an he said he was a writer.
And he has uh he's read the latest Rush Revere book.
Oh, by the way, folks, you know, I don't I don't like to complain about things, and this really is not a complaint.
It's more of an advisory.
And I'm not even sure it's it's purposeful, but we began hearing this week from people who tried to purchase Rush Revere and the American Revolution online.
And they were hearing back that they were sold out.
So that's not possible.
We know how many they originally bought.
I mean, we they're preparing for the usual massive number of sales here.
We're getting into the holiday season.
So we inquired about it, and it was the usual sorry, it was a computer glitch.
Anyway, they're not sold out.
So if you if you get that message when you try to buy the book online, just persevere.
Keep trying.
I mean, some people like sellouts, the purported sellouts, because it it creates this illusion of overwhelming demand, but we don't need to create that illusion.
The overwhelming demand it's there.
And it's been dealt with accordingly.
Now, anyway, this guy called from Dexter, Michigan, a writer, and he described uh one of the characters in the book, a young student who time travels with Rush Revere and Liberty, and whose father in the modern day of the book is deployed to Afghanistan, and he doesn't understand it.
Uh, and that's one of the themes in the book, because the book's dedicated to the military in a lot of ways.
It's a tribute to the United States military, all branches.
And he said that when he read it, he got a lump in his throat at a certain stage of the story, and he wanted to know how I was able to read the audio version without getting a lump in my throat or choking up or some such thing.
And then he made some comment about you know, writing events like that.
And I, you know, the the writing aspect of it is uh I don't there's no training, it's just empathy.
We write these books for a host of reasons, which I've detailed.
We want them to be entertaining, we want them to be accurate.
It's crucial that they're historically accurate.
We go to great pains.
There's a mission behind them.
We want we want the reader to understand the the wondrous aspects of the American founding.
We want them to love it, to appreciate it, we want them to know the sacrifices the people who founded this country made.
And so you you there's a natural empathy that occurs when you're writing about these great figures in history when you're writing about these seminal moments, and by the same token, the the other the present-day theme in the book is about this young man's awakening and realization of what a hero his father is on a par with the heroes of the American founding.
This character Cam comes to realize the greatness of his father by time traveling back to American history and meeting General George Washington on the eve of one of his battles, conquered Lexington one of the two of the battles that are portrayed in the book.
And there is a moment in time in the book where Cam and his father come together, and Cam figures it all out.
That's the lump in the throat period.
Now I'm not going to say anymore because I don't I don't want to destroy the lump in your own throat you get when you read this.
But his question he was trying to flatter me.
It was a it was a very complimentary question.
And this audio version reading this one, there was I don't know, this there was a probably a I don't want to put down the other two because they're excellent too.
I mean, I did them, but you hope that each one is better than the one before, no matter what you're doing in life.
And that's the same thing here.
And the emotion, I think, in these uh some of these scenes was more so than in the others.
So it was just it was easy to do.
It was funny when you when you're really into it, you believe it.
Uh and throughout this entire process, we couldn't wait for this to be done and people to see it.
That's how proud of it we all are.
So I just realized I hadn't answered his question about it, and I wanted to be sure and take the time and do that.
Now I went back to the archives and we have the audio sound bites of these four Chicago activists.
He had a caller in the last hour who wanted to comment on how profound this was when he heard it and what it could end up meaning.
These are four black community organizer type activists in Chicago.
Many of them have seen jail time, many of them are ex-cons, and they are totally fed up with Barack Obama and his failed false promises for the African American population of this country and the Democrat Party.
And they they were corralled by a website called uh uh rebel, what was it, Rebel Rebel uh Rebel Pundit.com.
And that website got them to sit down and and talk about the things that have them frustrated.
And it's four minutes.
We've we've cut it down to four one-minute excerpts here, and here is the first one.
Black folks is in an abusive black leadership relationship.
We have to send a message.
This is the time for us to send a message.
We always talking about what the Republicans ain't done for us, or what they will do to hurt us.
My life has been hurt by Democrats.
And we got in our mind that we always gotta keep vote Democrat.
You know, look and see in your community.
Who are the real oppressors in our community?
They always talk about black on black crime.
And when you hear the word black on black crime, the first thing you think of is a black man robbing you, a black man breaking in your house.
And that is a black on black crime.
But let's take it one step further.
There's a black-owned black crime and down in City Hall.
There's a black-on-black crime down in the in all the state capitals in America, where black folks are voting against our interests.
Where black folks are voting and making us we're getting poor and poor, and other groups are getting richer and richer.
Everywhere you go, there's poverty in black areas.
This is where I stand at right now.
I will public college used to live at.
Most of the people at home is living in the street.
And it's because of you, Mr. President.
You hear that?
He's at Ida B. Wells, public housing, everybody used to live in in this in this project.
Most of the people are homeless living in the street, and it's because of you, Mr. President.
These guys' names are Mark Carter, Paul McKinley, Joseph Watkins, and Harold Nooney Ward, N O O N I E. And again, they were they were talking to the uh people at the rebel pundit website, and I I don't know what occasioned this, and I I don't know how they were found and what made this happen, but it was viral last week, or earlier this week, Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.
But the point is, this has all been ignored with the drive-by.
Drive by's this is this is never gonna be seen on any of the networks.
You won't see it anywhere.
Fox may run some of this, I don't know.
But it's not going to reach.
This is the kind of thing we hear all right, because this is to that this makes total sense.
I myself, over the course of this program, have wondered aloud, oftentimes.
I mean, if if I had voted for a political party that's promised me all these things, and none of them have happened, it wouldn't take me long to figure out that I'm wasting my vote.
And I've how how does this keep happening?
And the answer to that question is the Democrats have also succeeded in literally scaring these people to death about what the opposite party is or the alternative is.
Which takes us into the problem of Republican branding and all of that.
But as bad as it might get with the Democrat Party, these people think it's not even close to how bad it would be with Republicans.
So it's been a two-pronged, but these guys have seen the light, and they are trying to spread the word in their own way.
Here's the next bite they're for total.
In Detroit, where your leaders at?
There's no white folks running Detroit cutting water on black folks in Detroit.
Them black folks running that city.
Everything's happening in our community is black leadership doing this.
Our children know.
Democrats have not done anything for us as of yet.
Why should they even go out and vote?
What agenda is on the table is going to change their life?
The only thing they're offering the black community is abortion on demand.
This is what the president asked them for us to vote for.
Now he wants to have this conversation about minimum wage raise because he knows that this is the way to get a lot of the poor people's attention.
But to hell with his minimum wage raised.
We don't have any jobs.
A minimum wage raise for what?
They're not pushing a black agenda.
They're not pushing uh a family agenda.
They're pushing a neoliberal agenda across this city and these democrat, these major democratic cities.
This is what it looks like.
Yeah, minimum wage, but there aren't any jobs.
I mean, this stuff makes perfect sense.
All of it.
And yet everybody's waiting for it to matter.
Here's the next bite.
Keeps getting better here, folks.
How can the same process happen over and over again?
And nobody got nothing.
Can't do nothing about it.
Black leadership is abusing us.
The Democratic Party is abusing us.
It's the same way in every black community across the country.
And they forced us into a life of welfare.
We don't want no welfare.
We want opportunities to go to work.
We want opportunities to own business.
They bailed out all of the major uh banks and these big investors, but left the people starving.
There are no Tea Partys in your city.
We don't have those people.
We have a major democratic machine, and the majority of them, they look like me.
These are the people who make sure we get nothing, but then turn around and have us to vote for them again.
They only come around when it's time for elections.
And they think they can give you a toy or give you a turkey or something, and everything is good.
Okay, we're again you're listening here to four black uh African American Chicago activists, community organizers, Paul McKinley, Mark Carter, Joseph Watkins, Harold Nooney Ward talking to the rebel pundit.com website.
And this last bite is in well, Tea Party, you know, Tea Party here, where's Chicago?
They don't Tea Party.
It sounds like they want a Tea Party.
Here, we don't have those people.
We haven't put up with this major Democrat machine.
And they look like me, they're not looking like Tea Party.
So these guys are saying, what is this blaming the Tea Party stuff?
There aren't any of those people here.
Tea Party not hurting us, Tea Party not shutting off the water on black folks in Detroit.
There's black folks doing that.
These are things, by the way, that your average ordinary white citizen, Republican, radio person that could not say without these guys taking the lead on it.
And you end up echoing them.
But you say this just on your own out of the blue, and you know full well you're gonna be descended on.
And those powerful forces in the drive by media, the civil rights industry are gonna be coming at everybody, charging racism and bigotry and so forth, and all the accompaniments to that, uh, which take place, but these guys are trying to cut through the noise as best they can.
Here's the last of the four sound bites.
Hundreds of millions of dollars are coming down from the federal government, but the money is going to all these special interest groups.
My brother's keeper went to his friends.
This whole corrupt democratic system that gobbles up all the dollars and starve the people out.
Can you all look around your community and see any change that have come about with these hundreds of billions of dollars that'll come to our cities?
No, you cannot.
What we do see is our elected officials riding around in new cars and they have new homes.
When our people don't have jobs in our communities, when we don't have any vital resources, when all the deals have been cut, and all our people are left out.
This is where we end up.
And we got a most important thing that we get that we can stop all this.
Everybody gotta vote.
And if you use your vote wisely, you can stop a lot of this stuff.
There can be no mistake, these guys are urging people to go out and vote against Democrats.
They're asking people to vote against Democrats, vote against Obama, because that is why they have the mess they have.
And as a previous caller pointed out, we are gonna be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Great Society next spring.
Fifty years where we have spent 22 trillion dollars to eradicate poverty, to enrich people economically, to lift them out of poverty and to put them smack dab in the middle class and make them prosperous and happy, and instead everybody's miserable.
And that's where these guys are coming from.
Fifty years of this stuff, and it gets worse by the year.
Fifty years of this stuff, and where are all these benefits that have been paid for?
Where is all this money going?
Because it isn't happening to us.
Although it is in a lot of ways.
It takes a lot of money to prop up this many millions of people.
Look at Social Security.
Everybody claims it gets it.
The increase every year is minimal, not enough.
It costs tens of billions of dollars to give every recipient a $10 a month increase.
Anyway, time.
Okay, we have some news on that nurse in Maine who refuses to uh abide by the requested quarantine, a judge who first ordered the nurse uh uh Casey Hiccox to be quarantined,
has now rescinded his order, saying that she only needs to stay three feet away from people because of the CDC guidelines, and we can really trust the CDC guidelines, right?
So he initially ordered a quarantine, he's now rescinded it, and she is free to wander around wherever she wants to go, but she has to stay three feet away from people.
I wonder if this judge got a cough.
Nah, nah.
But there's a new development here.
It turns out that Nurse Hickcock's roommate in West Africa had Ebola.
And she, the woman, didn't know it.
Sheila Pennett of the Maine CDC has released information that the roommate of Casey Hickox, while in West Africa has displayed signs of Ebola.
Pennett, CDC official, says the respondents' roommate, Hiccox's roommate in Africa, became infected without knowing how she became infected with Ebola.
And they'd further say that any potential risk to Hicks from that incident has uh has passed.
So her roommate in West Africa got Ebola, but she only has to stay three feet away from people.
Quarantine rescinded Larry San Bernardino, California.
I'm glad you called, sir, your next open line Friday.
Hi.
Larry, are you there?
I think he hung up.
There isn't anybody there.
He was uh tell you what he's gonna say.
It says here that he uh he was black, and he was gonna echo the sentiment that we just heard in the four Chicago activists.
Uh he was going to make the point that blacks are like slaves to the Democrat Party and that there's there's there's nothing out there.
There's no jobs.
There aren't any jobs to be had, so they have to depend on somebody, and that would be the Democrat Party.
But he was going to add something really interesting, and that is Obama's gonna make it worse with executive amnesty.
Obama's gonna bring in all these illegals.
After the election in December, Obama is going to bring in via executive amnesty, additional illegals.
He's going to legalize the ones who are already here, and they are going to end up taking jobs also away from Americans, including African Americans, because they will work cheaper.
That's the point he was gonna make.
he's dead right about that, by the way.
Yeah.
Right.
In his in his neighborhood in San Bernardino, he was going to point out that the jobs that are there are being held by people that are illegal aliens, not African American residents.
Since we're talking about racial things, there's a there's a story in the Washington Post that indescribable.
The headline is misleading.
The headline is how racial appeals to black voters have changed and worsened under Obama.
Now, without knowing anything else, what would you think that this story is about?
You would have to conclude this story is about Democrats and their ads and how they are appealing to black voters because after all, they are the only ones doing so.
Republicans are not.
But that's not what the story's about.
It's by Nia Malika Henderson.
Making appeals based on race is not new in politics.
It can be subtle, like the posters of President Obama sitting in a barber's chair that hung in black barbershops in 2008.
Or it can be overt and bordering on offensive, like the lynching images left on the car windows of black churchgoers in North Carolina.
As the push to get black voters to the polls comes down to the wire in the midterms, Democrats and progressive groups are urging, well, actually, they're using such images to engage black voters.
Ferguson, Trayvon Martin, kids in the bulletproof vests have all showed up in flyers, radio ads, and web videos.
The goal behind the appeals is the same, to spark some sort of emotional connection, either positive or negative, in a voter.
Got it.
So what what they're doing, the Democrats are trying to spark positive emotional connections with photos of lynching.
And by lying about Trayvon Martin and Ferguson.
This is not race baiting, it's fear-mongering.
The Democrats are running the ads, but they are claiming this is what Republicans want to do.
The Republicans, meanwhile, are not doing anything.
They're not saying diddly squat about anything.
They have gone mute.
And yet the racial content of the campaign has been ratcheted up.
It's the Democrats running ads just like they did in 2000, accusing George Bush of wanting to lynch blacks in Texas and drag them behind cars on dirt roads through rural towns.
And so the point of this story, I guess Mary Landrew and Charlie Wrangle, they're just following a Democrat talking point memo that must have gone out to the newspapers because the Washington Post here says that race relations have gotten worse in the six years under Obama.
But you know why?
Because of a backlash fueled by Republicans.
Yeah.
African Americans are not mad at Obama.
No, no.
And they're not mad at Democrats.
No, no.
Why would they be?
No, no.
They are mad because the Republicans are fueling this backlash.
It's the Republicans trying to make the Democrat, the blacks hate the Democrats.
It's a Republicans trying to make black voters not like Obama and suspect Obama.
I kid you not, that is what this story says.
Therefore, all of these photos that are being used in this article and elsewhere across the country of Ferguson and all of the photos, the images of lynchings are being used under the premise that Republicans have brought all of this on themselves with their watermelon jokes and their questioning of Obama's birth certificate and all that.
So all of this mean-spirited stuff that the Democrats are doing is a backlash to what the Republicans think.
That's the point of this story.
So the Washington Post says it only is reasonable that the Democrats would be running these stories trying to scare blacks because this is what the Republicans have sponsored.
Meanwhile, the Republicans are doing diddly squat.
They're not saying anything.
This is vile, it's disgusting, and it's filthy, and it's typical.
It's predictable.
And it's also the sure sign of panic settling in.
The Democrats have to routinely make up what Republicans do.
They have to manufacture what Republicans think.
They have to lie about Republicans and what they say.
But after 50 years of doing it, many black voters believe it.
And that's what they're relying on now.
What they're trying to do is gin up black turnout for the cause for the first African American president to not let the Republicans destroy this historic president.
Pure and simple.
And note there isn't one paragraph.
There isn't one sentence in this story about all the wonderful things for America, Barack Obama has done.
There is not one sentence, there's not a syllable, there's not a word, there is not a paragraph about one thing Obama's policies have done to improve anybody's life, much less African Americans.
Not one.
This whole story is nothing more than a justification for the lies the Democrats are telling in the campaign.
And it's in your friendly neighborhood Washington Post.
Let's go to F. Chuck Todd.
This is funny.
I don't know if John Stewart would have handled it this way.
Oh, speaking of which, did you hear John Stewart has admitted that he was offered to meet the press job?
You missed that.
This is the final confirmation.
It was reported a month ago or so that NBC had backed up a Brinks truck to John Stewart's Comedy Central Studio in an all-out effort to get him to host Meet the Depressed when they were going to get rid of David Gregory.
And he refused.
So that's when they went and got F. Chuck Todd.
And now John Stewart has admitted that he was offered the job.
Remember those days when they said I was too political to do commentary on ESPN.
Remember those days?
How far along how far back was that?
How long ago was that when I was too political to be on ESPN?
Meanwhile, Charles Barclay can go anywhere he wants and be political.
And now a comedian was recruited with a Brinks truck for Meet the Press.
And he said no.
He said no.
Well, you know why he said no?
Well, I'll tell you why he said no.
My guess is that even though they wanted to hire a comedian, they don't want that to be a comedy show.
And he doesn't, I my guess is he wants to stick with comedy.
Who knows?
I'm just guessing.
But here's F. Chuck Todd.
Hired because well, F. Chuck Todd.
He's meet the press now.
He was on uh the Today Show today with the fill-in host Hoda Cutby.
And Hoda Cutby.
Hoda Cutby.
She's uh Kathy Lee's BF.
Hoda, H O D A K-O-T-B, Ho Docutby.
She does, she and Kathy Lee do the 9 to 10 a.m. hour, but she was on she was the seven and nine day today.
She's a co-hosting.
She's sub-ho guest hosting, whatever.
And she's she got F. Chuck Todd in there.
She said, hey, F. Chuck, the president's numbers are low.
Congress's numbers are low.
Do you think people are going to want to go out to the polls at all?
Are they going to be holding their nose when they vote?
They're going to be picking the lesser two evils.
What are we going to see on Tuesday, uh, F. Chuck?
The voters I met definitely feels like a hold-your-nose election.
You get the sense, and talking the voters I did, they'd like to punish the president's party without rewarding the Republicans.
And in many cases, they're sort of sitting on their hands, they're not sure what to do.
They do plan on voting.
And these states where the races are they're spending millions of dollars, they are going to show up to the polls.
They're probably leaning against the president, but they're not happy about it.
Well, then why are they gonna do it?
And how many voters did he talk to here to come up with this conclusive prediction of their behavior?
When is the last time, oh yeah, they're gonna vote, they're gonna vote against the president, but they don't want to.
Well, then why are they gonna do it?
And not only do they not want to, they don't want to reward the Republicans.
Well, then why are they?
Well, they just don't want to.
So this is they're now trying to put all their ducks in a row.
This is all pre-election spin.
So the people like F. Chuck and others after the election Tuesday can tell you how meaningless the Republican victory really is.
Virgin Galactic Space Ship 2 just suffered an anomaly over the Mojave Desert.
What that means is it crashed.
And there were two pilots on board, and they can't find it.
Now they're the aircraft that this does not launch itself.
It's ferried up there and then dropped.
And uh that plane landed safely, but the the actual Virgin Galactic spaceship had an anomaly.
Uh it crashed.
And we hope the pilots are uh are okay.
Now, folks, uh I'm serious.
This this Chuck Todd comments, ludicrous.
And it's he's not the first to make it.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, they people they're not happy with Obama.
They don't want to reward the Republicans.
They ru they're gonna vote against Obama, but they really don't want to.
And all of this, the only purpose of this is after this huge wave victory on Tuesday, they're gonna come to you and tell you it doesn't mean anything.
The Republicans do not have a mandate that the voters really didn't want this to happen.
I wouldn't even be surprised if they produce this in exit polls.
Don't be surprised if you see exit poll reports.
Yes, I voted in a very troubled state of mind.
I really, really didn't want to do what I did.
And I I do not mean I want the Republicans running the show.
I I I I you wait.
Do not doubt me on this.
Here's uh here's uh Tiffany in Ringo, Georgia.
Hi, Tiffany, I'm glad you called.
It's great to have you on the program.
Hello.
Hi, Russ.
It's wonderful to be with you today.
Um, I probably tried to call over 500 times and finally got through yesterday and snarly had me call back today, so I'm really excited.
Congratulations.
I'm glad you did.
Um, my husband and I are small business owners.
We homeschool our children, and through our business and raising our kids, we want to show them through hard work that they can accomplish anything and that they can help other people.
Excellent.
Through through their accomplishments.
But what we were really excited about was back in November last year when you came out with your first first book for a program.
Right.
And we told people, we were so excited that the book was coming out, and we actually got two or three copies that year for gifts.
And we read them.
My kids have loved them.
We got first Patriots, And yesterday we got the American Revolution, and we are so excited to start this book.
And we just wanted to thank you for putting out there that through history, the Americans, the people of this country have worked hard.
They have accomplished so much.
We should be proud of our country.
We should be proud of where we came from and who we are.
And I know I am.
And my children, who, of course, I love very much because they're mine, um, through your books, they have just loved Liberty's sarcasm, his wit.
The kids will just crack up when we're reading the books at night, and they find him just fascinating.
Yeah.
And my daughter came up with an idea, and I don't know if you've done it yet or not, but she would love to see Liberty become a stuffed animal, and you sell him through the Rush Review website and help raise money for the military and for your nonprofit organization that you have.
Well, we ran the idea by liberty, and he resents being stuffed.
Well, I can understand we own horses ourselves, so we understand that.
We're animal lovers, but it would be a wonderful representative uh representative of him and something that children could carry around.
They could tell other people about liberty and the stories from history, and my daughter just thought it was a fun idea and a way to um maybe even pay Liberty back a little bit for his sarcasm.
I appreciate that.
That is I I can't, I I really can't tell you how much I appreciate all of this.
Uh how how how into it.
Folks, this is just a dream.
It's a dream computer.
These these people that buy that, they love it, they read it, and they want it to be even bigger.
And and they're calling with ideas for how to even spread it and make it bigger, which I profoundly appreciate.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
Rest assured.
We have storyboards, drawing boards, all kinds of plans.
I just can't, I can't, I can't get into them with any specifics, because I don't know what's going to happen or what isn't specifically.
But rest assured, there are grand ideas.
Because you all are making it possible.
You all are feeding this.
I can't I can't again I'm stuck for a way to express my gratitude.
But Tiffany, thank you so much.
Really do appreciate it.
That's it, my friends.
We are out of busy broadcast time for this edition of Open Line Friday.
But as always, it's been great to have enjoyed having you here.
Thank you, uh thank you so much.
This weekend, probably gonna be pretty active.
Democrats, full panic mode, media trying to gin up this idea that the Republican victory is going to be meaningless.
So keep abreast of it on Monday, get you up to speed, and as a bonus, tell you exactly what to think about it all.
We do every day.
