Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
Hey, Snerdleaf, do you think that you could uh combine your uh Well, you you think you can execute and perform proper fatherhood duties as well as work here and screen calls?
Do you think is that an appropriate question for me to ask you?
A sexist question?
I've asked you a sexist question.
That can't possibly be sexist question.
Live from a Southern Command in sunny South Florida.
It's open line Friday.
Oh, yeah, the very sensitive Matt Wower asks, the CEO of GM.
Are you sure you can do this and balance your motherhood duties?
And he's one of the sensitive ones.
Mel Wower, supposedly an approved liberal who supposedly gets it.
Not supposed to ask questions like that of women.
Oh, my friends, how are you?
Open line Friday.
Here we are at the EIB's Southern Command.
Yeah, he did.
Can you be a good mom and run General Motors at the same time?
Can you run General Motors?
Well, have you seen?
Look at have they made a car that hasn't been recalled?
I hate it.
I hate say what so goes General Motors or as goes General Motors, so goes the country.
Everybody loves General Motors.
Anyway, folks, open line Friday, you know what that means.
You get to talk about whatever you want to talk about.
If you want to take advantage of the opportunity, you don't have to.
You can talk about the news of the day, which it's it's totally up to you.
But it is an opportunity extended by me, your benevolent dictator host.
No First Amendment here.
You don't have the right to say whatever you want.
It's all up to me what gets said on this program.
Well, in a sense, but I mean we don't we don't write scripts for people, but on Friday throw that out, and whatever anybody wants to talk about is fine.
Telephone numbers 800-282-288-2 and the email address lrushbo at EIB netcom.
The immigration news today is over half of my show prep stack.
It is well, it is.
It's fast and furious.
It's outrageous.
We have lost control of this.
And it's now gotten to the point.
You know, somebody needs to get a hold of Mark Zuckerberg, you know, because Chuck Yo Schumer had that press conference yesterday when he went out there and told everybody that I'm the guy killing immigration reform because I keep calling it amnesty when it is an amnesty.
And and if I'm gonna keep doing that, it's just gonna make it tougher.
Chuck, you got really frustrated today.
See, you know what?
Hell with it.
If the Congress won't do it, Obama should just do it on his own.
Pelosi said the same thing.
The White House press spokesman Josh Ernest said if Congress won't act, we will.
After a nine-to-nothing decision they've gone to, do you know that Obama is 0 for 12?
0 for 13 unanimous decisions against Obama.
Oh for 12.
0 for 13 at the U.S. Supreme Court.
Zuckerberg of Facebook is out calling it amnesty as he urges everybody to donate to it, contribute to it, and make it happen.
He didn't get the memo that it isn't amnesty.
And then the kids flooding the Pelosi is going to go down and meet the kids arriving at the border.
She's going to go to the border.
She's going to go to some of the shelters where they are being um taken, and she's going to welcome them to the Democrat Party.
I'm not kidding.
Pelosi's going down there, and she's going to be the first political face they see other than the the uh border patrol agents.
Um well, that is a concern, you know, whether she'd scare the kids.
We that that would be a benefit to us if uh if you put here comes Pelosi's motorcade if somebody says to the kids here comes, here comes your average American Democrat kids, and then Pelosi gets out of the car and they shriek.
But no Obama, they're not sending them back.
In fact, the the AP put out a story earlier this week that there were 30,000 backlogged cases of these kids as they try to process them and send them back, and they sent a correction out today.
Oops, sorry, it's not 30,000, it's 360,000.
Backlogged K. They're not sending anybody back.
Obama, Obama, I guess, did a television appearance or or something where he said, please don't come.
Do not come.
Do not, he didn't tell them to go back, but he said, don't come.
Now, what do you what do you do when somebody tells you not to do something?
You do it.
What do you when I say don't think pink?
What do you think pink?
So it's it's clear what's going on.
Before we get to that, an interesting little uh piece here from the Pew Research Center.
If you are proud to be an American, you are probably not a liberal, is the upshot of the Pew Research Center poll.
There are two noteworthy results in this poll.
Most solid liberals are not proud to be an American, and B, most solid liberals are elitists.
So the idea of transforming the country into something radically different from its founding, and the president assuming near dictatorial powers would be AOK with the base of the Democrat Party.
And I'm not surprised by this.
I'm I uh you know I I intellectually I've said this before, I intellectually understand people who have problems with this country, but I don't understand people that hate it.
I I I mean I know they exist and I know why.
I know what liberalism does to people, I and I and I know that some people have uh grievances, you know, African Americans, some of them have grievances, they're raised and still to be thought of as slaves and and so forth.
I understand you know how that can be made to uh happen how people can can be talked into hating this country, and that's what the left does.
But the other half of me, how can you hate the greatest place on earth for human beings?
How can you hate it?
It just isn't normal.
And these are the and these are the people, by the way, who run around.
It's not good to hate anyone, Mr. Limbaugh.
We had too much hate three of the end.
But they proudly hate the country.
You know, their hatred, that's justified.
Michelle Obama took some heat in 2008 for saying for the first time in my adult life, I'm proud of my country.
She did take some heat, and because everybody figured out that she meant it.
She meant it.
Well, as it turns out, that sediment isn't all that unusual on the far left of American politics.
According to this new Pew Research Center study, only 40% of consistently liberal Americans say they often feel proud to be Americans.
The other 60% say that proud to be an American does not describe them.
Sixty percent of liberals are not.
I know that I I can't relate to it either.
I understand it.
I mean, I intellectually, not emotionally.
I intellectually doesn't mean I concur.
I understand how they can be talked into it.
I understand how they can be educated into hating.
I can understand, but but when you strip all of it away, if you're at if you have any ability to independently think and compare and contrast, if you have any ability at if you're curious.
I mean, how can you look at Cuba and think it's better?
How can you look at North Korea or China and think it's better?
But they do.
And even uh highly educated liberals back in the 50s and 60s thought the Soviet Union was the utopia, or utopia in the making, and despised the United States.
It just isn't normal.
Now I'm gonna get into trouble for that, but that's right, Mr. Lamont, because who are you to defy what's normal?
What do you mean what's not normal?
And I know that that people look at it this way, but I it does not compute.
Sixty percent of American liberals say proud to be American does not describe them.
The finding is contained.
They're miserably unhappy.
They're not proud.
They're embarrassed, or they are um angry at probably angry and embarrassed if they're not proud.
The finding is contained in Pugh's new political typology report, which breaks Americans down into seven different categories rather than the usual three.
Among the seven categories, solid liberals are the only group in which a majority say they are not regularly uh proud to be Americans.
By contrast, more than seven in ten steadfast conservatives, and eight in ten business conservatives say they are generally proud to be Americans.
The poll also shows that many liberals do not liken themselves to your average American.
Only 51% of liberals say that they feel as though they are typical Americans.
That's compared to three-quarters of conservatives and at least two-thirds of um of all other groups.
So here you have that the conservatives are thought to be these racist, sexist, bigot, homophobic uh outliers, oddball freaks and kooks, and it turns out that 75% of conservatives and two-thirds of all other groups think that they are typical.
They're average, ordinary, typical Americans.
Liberals, 51% say, no way they're typically American.
It's embarrassing.
They don't approve of typical Americans, and they're not proud.
The uh the results differ from other recent polling.
And by the way, you see evidence of this everywhere there are liberals.
You see it in the news media, you see it in Congress, you see it this is it's right out there in front of everybody to recognize and acknowledge, and here now is survey data where they admit it.
It doesn't require me or anybody else telling you they do not like this country.
They've just admitted it.
And if they don't like the country, they're gonna, if they don't like the country, they're gonna approve of anything that upsets whatever they think they don't like about it.
So if if they think the country's too white and too wealthy, and that's why they hate it, then they will welcome what's happening in the southern border, and they will welcome massive tax increases, and they will welcome redistribution.
The thing is, none of what they want getting none of what they want ever makes them happy.
They never end up being proud, even after they get everything they want.
They've got they've got the first African-American president.
He is doing everything he said he was gonna do.
He is tearing down all the old institutions and traditions which define this country's great, and they ought to be happy as clams, and they still are miserable.
They never end up happy.
And they never end up proud of being Americans, and that's why they sit around and support all of these things that constitute a tax on the heart and soul of the country.
Part of the difference in the new poll, undoubtedly, is that the Pew Center says here drills down a little more to highlight differences between true liberals and Other liberals who might not be as consistent.
The definition that Pew assigns to solid liberals comprises just 15% of the American population.
That's a much smaller group than just liberals or Democrats.
Now, why do you think they're doing this?
I think the adults at Pew recognize, wait a second, this does not look good.
51% of solid liberals are not proud to be Americans.
They can't have that gas.
So what they have is subdivide liberals into three different kinds.
They don't do that with conservatives.
They're two different kinds, solid and everyday run of the mill.
Or solid and business conservative.
With liberals, uh it's only 15% of the American population.
Well, they're the ones different levels of bitterness, different levels of disgust and dislike for the country.
And that's why Pew has to create three different liberal categories in order to lessen the impact.
Can you imagine if they stuck to their guns and decided and divided liberals the way they do conservatives?
And had to report that it was much more than just 15% of the American population, which is not proud to be American.
So they recognize the damage herein.
All right, we come back.
We'll get started with all of this immigration stuff.
There are some updates of what happened in Mississippi, too, and it is as we thought there was a black church involved.
In violation of the law, in violation of uh tax exempt status granted by the IRS, a black church was involved.
A famous Democrat uh racantor troublemaker fundraiser by the name of Mitzi Bickers.
The Thad Cochran campaign reached out to a Democrat operative to do all the dirty work.
This guy's name is Henry Barber.
He is a nephew of Haley Barber.
There was no outreach.
There was no Democrats liking what they see and crossing the aisle.
There was no grand strategy that old Thad came up with that Republicans can now use in every election to attract African American votes.
It was it was exactly what we thought it was yesterday.
It's just been a little bit more confirmed.
Now, CNN, because I gave them so much airtime yesterday, decided to devote another couple of segments with a couple of different guests commenting on me referring to the African American votes for Thad as Uncle Tom's for Thad.
And they went out and they got conservative blacks, liberal blacks, and they all were condemning me, and I'm not going to play it anymore.
I'm not they did another bunch of segments knowing I would talk about them, hoping I would.
But I'm not been there done that.
There's nothing new that was said, they just continue the same old thing, have been there, done that.
We'll move forward with all this.
I just all of you people CNN who gave the story of me more time today.
Nobody saw it, and nobody is gonna hear about it here, except other than what I just said, according to Yeah, I just went back to the archives just to drag something out.
The Pew research study on liberals, not proud to be Americans.
And by the way, for it seems to me that if if if so many liberals do not feel like normal Americans, then it sort of proves our perception of them is accurate.
They're elitists, they think they're better than everybody else.
They snub their noses at everybody.
They look.
They look down on people.
Uh they think they're superior and that most Americans are a bunch of unsophisticated know-nothings.
They would probably, in their arrogance, these people are probably proud.
They'd look at it as a positive that they don't think they're like most Americans.
They are special.
And that's why so many of them take fact-finding trips to other states to find out what the real people live like.
And the liberals try to relate and so forth, try to understand.
So I don't, I don't, in a sense, they're probably not going to be that much uh sadness or unhappiness or even anger at the Pew survey.
But it reminded me of a Harvard study.
We had this back in uh 2011.
It was in U.S. News and World Report.
And the headline, July 4th parades are right wing.
Democrat political candidates can skip.
This weekend's July 4th parades.
A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans.
It turned kids into Republicans.
They helped to boost Republican turnout of adults on election day.
Remember that?
It also reported that the flag also had the same effect on people.
The flag made people patriotic.
It turned people into Republicans, but Democrats resent the flag being waved around.
And remember the c when Tom Brokaw decided to put an American flag pin.
The left gave him grief.
They thought he was selling out in pandering.
And we will be back.
It's open line Friday, and folks, before this this integration stack is quite big, it's quite lengthy, and you probably will not want me interrupting myself once I get started with it.
We always try to take more calls on Friday than um Monday through Thursday.
So I'm going to start with a couple of calls.
Now I want to start Christine in Ojai, California.
I'm glad you called.
It's great to have you here, Christine.
Welcome to the program.
Thank you, Rush.
Thank you very, very much.
Well, I just wanted to st uh share a little story with you that I have given up my television.
And it was uh I guess the federal government now mandates that you have to have digital television.
So my cable company demanded that I had well, they they were kind enough that they were gonna send me these little black boxes to put in my house, and I had to have one for each television set in my house, and we have five outlets here.
So I had to have all five little boxes, plugs and wires, and more.
And I just got so frustrated that I said, I'm giving up TV.
I'm done with it.
So now, Rush, I have to tell you, I turn my radio on in the morning, and I get to listen to you.
And I'm getting my news from you and my information.
My life is so much more happy now that I don't have a television I go to bed earlier, I wake up early, I listen to you in the morning, and hear what I need to hear, and my life is just so much better.
And I wanted to share that with you.
No, I believe you.
I've tried this myself, it's why I've recommended people do it.
It's um I think it's really a great way of if even if you instinctively know how much crud and rot gut and drivel you're exposed to via television, no matter what the program, it could be a news program, it could be drama to comedy, whatever.
It's just you you it's just an assault.
It's just an assault on the senses, and it's an as it's an assault on what you hold dear, the values you believe.
So if you turn it off and you're not exposed to it, your attitude, your life does change.
Your your mood at least changes every day.
And I know this because I've done it.
Uh this last vacation, Christine that Catherine and I took, this was the first vacation in a long time where I really did get away from things, where I did not have the I didn't turn a television on once in ten days.
I didn't turn it I did keep up now and then with with some new, but very little of that.
The the only thing I looked at on the internet was the things I looked at that interest me in terms of uh them being hobbies.
I um one I slept 15 hours one night.
Heck I could could not believe this.
I I I thought the clocks had screwed up, and my attitude, it was in it was there was much less stress.
I had didn't have any performance pressure, obviously gonna have to work, but I understand exactly what you mean and the added benefit, and I mean this too, it's gonna sound braggadocious, but you did mention you listen to this program every day.
One thing about this program, even with all of the crap That the left does that we talk about here.
We try to have fun with it.
It's at least not defeatist, overwhelming, and make you feel like giving up.
This program is inspiring, it's funny, it's engaging, it's uplifting, and I appreciate you noticing that.
That is you that's a great thing for you to say to me, and I really appreciate it.
Well, I appreciate that that's the show that you present to your listeners, and I appreciate the fact that I am getting the news that I feel is important to get, and I can go forward and you know look into those things that I want to look more into.
Christine, let me let me tell you something.
Honest, honest to Pete here, folks.
We are more thorough in covering liberalism than they are covering themselves, because they spend most of their time ignoring what they do or covering it up.
Um the one of the things about the news media, one of the powers they have is what they don't cover.
Ted Cruz just had a fabulous rant on the Senate floor.
I saw it on TV today, so it must have been yesterday or last night about this IRS scandal.
And it wasn't anything anybody else hasn't said, it was just that it was on the Senate floor.
And he contrasted everything up at the IRS scandal.
Imagine if everything that has happened had happened with a Republican president, a Republican-led Senate, a Republican attorney general.
Imagine he said the media ignoring it like they're ignoring this.
Imagine, and he went through it, and of course, we all know that is the case, that they would be all over them demanding resignations, demanding impeachment, demanding criminal charges, demanding the emails be produced.
We all know this.
But the way he said it, nevertheless, it was it was very effective.
But but I really appreciate your comment because it's the the daily exposure and a lot of it to what is what me most people think of as news today can be defeating and depressing.
It can be frustrating and it can drive some people to the brink of madness because it is so devoid of truth, it's so absent reality, it is so unfair, if you will, it is so biased.
And I if if if everybody in this country had two, three straight weeks of exposure to this program and not the websites that tell people what happens here, but actually listened, I actually believe the public mood would improve.
The media is one of the biggest obstacles that we have.
And it's been that way for uh for for a long, long time.
Not telling you anything you do not know, but uh Christine, I appreciate the call.
I know exactly.
She turned off the TV, listens only to this program, and she's actually enjoying life more.
And it does happen.
No question about that.
Chris in Sacramento, my adopted hometown.
Great to have you.
You're next.
Hello.
Hi, Rush.
Um, I'm calling to thank you.
Uh basically, I've been in I went to college in San Francisco for the last four years.
The last two were pretty much the hardest of my life.
When I came back home, I listened to your two audio books, the way things ought to be, and see I told you so, sort of as a mantra every day for a couple months, and it turned me around and inspired me to see the truth about liberalism and just to see the truth about life.
I just wanted to thank you for that.
Well, you're welcome.
My guys, two calls in a row.
This is great.
Yeah.
I I that's uh what were you what where did you live in San Francisco?
I'm just curious.
I lived in a nice area in San Francisco.
I lived uh near Golden Gate Park.
Yeah.
And but the the the hard the hard part of it was was dealing with a lot of my professors, dealing with the people there uh that are that are homeless pretty much everywhere in San Francisco.
I know a man actually came up to me one day and asked me to staple his face.
Staple his face.
Yeah, a homeless man asked me to do that.
I mean, people get into your business, they try to get money from you, all this stuff.
I was gonna say that that was a way to increase benefits if you show up somewhere with staples in your place.
Exactly.
Yeah, there's a get this.
There's a there's a move in San Francisco.
It's it's been it's it's an effort's been underway for a long time there, but the the the bridge, a golden gate bridge commission, I think it's meeting today, and is going to have a vote on putting a suicide net under the Golden Gate Bridge.
Oh my gosh.
And you know what it would cost?
What do you think it cost?
The projected cost, it's gonna be more than this.
The projected cost to put a suicide net, the full length of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Seventy-eight million dollars for a net.
That's right.
Oh my goodness.
And they're rejecting it because of too much money.
They need the money for uh uh aidicomy operations for the the uh public employees who have sex change uh transgender operations as part of a public benefit.
78 million dollars for a net.
Yeah, I can't believe that.
And how dare they deny people a right to suicide in San Francisco?
Well, I mean, that's the one one of the purposes of the bridge is to kill yourself.
Oh my gosh.
How dare they deny it?
Yeah, I mean, so it was really tough, and a lot of the professors there I had a lot of lesbian professors and stuff like that.
Oh.
There was a few times where I just had to stand up and say, look, you know, capitalism isn't the problem.
You know, conservatives aren't sitting around because they have this whole idea of what conservatives are, you know.
They said that you guys sit around and you're you know, you're racist and all this stuff, and I said, look, conservatives don't just sit around and think about racist things and you know, try to make life hard for everybody.
No, they do.
They're the ones preoccupied with those things.
They're preoccupied with skin color, sexual orientation, sexual gender, sexual, they're the ones preoccupied with that stuff.
You should have you should have told them the problem with the world is the unequal distribution of capitalism.
You might have caused them to actually jump out a window.
To me, true equality is actually treating people the same, like doesn't matter what their their creatures or whatever, you treat them as he would treat anybody.
You would treat them as he would treat uh uh a white privileged male.
You treat everybody the same.
Treat everybody the same.
Yes, I treat everybody the same.
One of my motto.
Yes.
Well, what uh you got out of there with your degree?
Got uh got out of there with a degree, yeah.
Well, congratulations.
Now you're back to uh back to Sacramento.
Back to Sacramento, yeah.
San Francisco, I'll tell you, it's it's a beautiful place.
I I I I love it.
I I know that it's enemy territory for me, and I resent that, too.
I mean, it's just enemy territory simply because of what I believe.
But it's uh just it's a shame that's the way it is.
But grants on the degree, and I appreciate the call.
Thank you so much.
Chris, and best to you.
What what is your degree in?
And uh are you gonna are you gonna pursue that in terms of?
No, I I got a degree in psychology, and I was um I was a pretty different person when I was in San Francisco, but now I'm actually pursuing business.
I'm going back to school, I'm getting a business degree.
So um I don't think I'm going to go down the career route in psychology, but um I get it, I guess it's good for me to have in terms of dealing with people and it'll come in that'll help you wherever you go, whatever your career is.
Best of luck, and we'd be right back.
Don't go away.
You know, Mrs. Clinton just continues to step in and I don't know.
She didn't do anything recently, just another bit of news from the Ed Klein book, Blood Clot has been revealed.
And apparently Hillary was was having lunch with some girlfriends up in Chappaqua one day after she had left the State Department.
And they according to the Ed Klein book, all of Hillary's girlfriends are asking her, what is Obama really like.
And she just launched.
According to the book, she said he's he's he's not there half the time.
There's no hand on the tiller of this country.
He's incompetent.
He's a phony.
I mean, she m she made it clear that she has no respect for Obama at all.
This is in the Klein book.
And she said that uh they made a deal with Obama that Bill would help Obama in 2012 if Obama would pay them back and help Hillary campaign in 2016.
And now Obama has basically said he's not gonna do that, and the and the Clintons feel betrayed.
So she was just unloading on Obama.
And this is gonna get out.
I mean, if uh I ran across it and and others in the Ed Klein book see it, it's run across.
And they can't, the Clintons cannot, they just can't pull their foot out of that bucket of excrement regarding their wealth.
And people are now, I watched some liberals on TV today.
Embarrassed of their wealth.
They've earned it.
They deserve it.
Why don't they why don't they learn how?
And be because I mean, I'll answer the question.
They uh the they're obsessed with this notion of trying to convince people that they're not wealthy because look, I mean, if you're a leftist and your whole life has been spent beating up on the rich and trashing them and calling them names and accusing them of being heartless and cold and bigoted and racist and selfish and greedy,
and then all of a sudden you become one of them, and then added to that all of a sudden you act like you want to be one of them.
Well, then you you're gonna have to think you need to go out and tell, but I'm not like those other rich people, which is where they're getting caught up.
Now, this uh let's see, this story, I don't know where this is from.
Student leaders ask Hillary to return outrageous 225,000 scruals speaking fee to stop uh top student government leaders, student government leaders,
University of Las Vegas are requesting that Mrs. Clinton return the outrageous and twenty-five thousand dollar speaking fees she reportedly will receive for an upcoming speech at the Scrual in October in a video circulated by National Republican Party Friday,
Elias Bengelun, the UNLV student body president, and Daniel Walker, the students, government public uh relations director slammed the University Foundation for paying Clinton so much for the event.
So all was fine until they found out what she makes.
225,000 for speech, and they're making moves on getting the money back.
This stuff that's happening to the Clintons in the drive-bys not things they're used to.
They're used to being pampered, covered for soft soap, they're not used to Diane Sawyer giving Mrs. Clinton grief over it.
They're just not used to any of this.
And now students asking for the money back.
And remember, these liberals they think they're better than everybody else anyway.
That's what the Pew Center survey tells us.
So the students want the 225 grand back.
You know, Mrs. Who do they think they are?
You don't have any idea.
So it's not cool out there.
It's uh it's not good.
Anyway, let me take a brief time out, uh, my friends.
I I've I've been teasing this immigration stack, and and I don't mean to be teasing it, it's just it's quite lengthy and detailed, and I haven't wanted to start it and then interrupt.
I wanted to get some phone calls in on things I discussed in the first half hours, have done that.
And we'll do the immigration because some of this stuff that is happening here is, for example, National Review Online, according to a major new report from the Center for Immigration Studies, net employment growth in the United States since 2000, has gone entirely to immigrants, legal and illegal, and this is data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Scholars Stephen Camaruta and Karen Ziggler found that there were 127,000 fewer working-age Native-born Americans holding a job in the first quarter of 2014 than in 2000.
The number of immigrants with a job was 5.7 million above the 2000 level.
All, folks, all employment growth since 2000 has gone to immigrants, legal and illegal.
And this is what the Chamber of Commerce guy wants to build on, wants to expand on with the help of the Republican Party.
Having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.
Yeah, and a Mexican military helicopter crossed our border and fired on Border Patrol agents.
