Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
So Snergly comes in today and says, so when is there going to be a special prosecutor named for the missing emails?
I said, never.
And there's going to be a special prosecutor.
What do you think?
Who's going to call for special prosecutor?
And then who's going to name one?
It ain't going to happen.
And I went on to explain the facts of life to him.
And I have to do it each and every day.
Some people, I think a lot of people, are so immersed in the traditional Democrat versus Republican mindset and think that it still exists.
And it doesn't.
There isn't a Democrat versus Republican mindset in Washington anymore.
Ladies and gentlemen, there is an election, a presidential election date, there's a pretense of it.
But in truth, the only real enemy of Washington today is the Tea Party.
The only real enemy, and when I, of the Republican and Democrat establishments, the Chamber of Commerce, the whole way Washington is working, the only enemy is people who want to reintroduce free markets, get rid of crony capitalism, blow up the relationships that exist between Washington and individual businesses or business at large, Wall Street firms.
You people in the Tea Party, liberty, freedom, free markets, you represent the problem.
To John Boehner, to the Republican establishment, to the Republican consultants, Obama's not the problem.
Anybody opposed to the way Washington does business today is the problem, and that would be you and me.
But more on that later.
I'm faced with another one of these days where it's just going to be a mad dash to get it all in.
It's great to have you.
The telephone number is 800-282-2882.
The email address, lrushbo at EIBnet.com.
The news media going berserk.
Isn't it an amazing, timely coincidence here that they have found a militia leader of the Benghazi attack and they've arrested him?
Isn't this amazing timing?
Fox News had the exclusive, but now it's all over the place.
U.S. forces have captured a militia leader suspect in the 2012 Benghazi terror attack that killed four Americans.
So I guess the video really wasn't to blame.
Because the guy that did the video is in jail.
He's who knows where anymore.
Remember, the video made these guys do it.
So whoever did this really can't be blamed.
They were just incited by this video.
But all of a sudden, we've got the militia leader.
I thought it was just a ragtag bunch of protesters that got all fired up after this video hit the internet.
But now, of course, nobody's questioning that.
Well, maybe others will, but I mean, it's quite obvious that this is a very timely headline, given how things are falling apart in Iraq.
And even Christiana Manpour at CNN says she has never been as scared as she was the day after 9-11 right now because of what's happening in Iraq and our inability.
She said, we had al-Qaeda on the ropes and we're letting them back in.
She doesn't understand it.
She can't believe it.
Soundbites are coming up.
But isn't it fortunate that President Obama get a headline using the U.S. military when he really needs one?
And it is his military.
It's his government.
It's his military, it's his IRS, it's his, it's the way he talks.
Now, when they all get in trouble, he has nothing to do with them, but they are his.
So, what I'm now waiting, I'm waiting for FBI special forces to capture Lois Lerner's missing emails.
Of course, that's not a headline Obama wants, so that probably isn't going to happen.
Have you heard this?
Let's see, IRS now claiming they can't find emails from six additional IRS employees who were involved in targeting the Tea Party.
Computers crash at the same time.
It's just an amazing coincidence.
It's unbelievable.
IRS can't find these emails.
The NSA can't find them.
Maybe it's time to offer amnesty to Julian Assange or Bradley or Chelsea Manning now.
But seriously, six more people's computers crashed or something that resulted in their emails having been gone too.
And it's all related to the Tea Party.
And I look at, there's a really good piece today that explains this.
It's at redstate.com.
And it explains, I'll give you a little, just an example.
And I have been trying to verbalize this and warn people of the crony capitalism, although it's actually more like crony socialism, but crony capitalism is the term.
Ever since Jeffrey Imelt, the CEO of General Electric, took something like, oh, I don't know what it was, 800 million or billion, whatever it is, dollars from Obama for research and development in the green energy.
So wait a minute, GE doesn't need any Washington money.
What the hell is this?
And ever since that day, and then Imelt ends up on the jobs task force.
How's that working on for him?
And it began a cozy, comfortable relationship.
And when General Electric is in bed with the government, GE's competitors are not.
You ever wondered why, and it's a lot of people have, and have sent me emails.
You've scratched your heads.
Why in the world does Walmart support Obamacare?
I mean, the traditional view would be that big business would want nothing to do with government getting their hands and feet inside businesses and telling them how to operate, particularly on something like healthcare, that businesses would want to walk away from it.
Don't want the government both.
The traditional belief has always been that business, the essence of the free market, that's where it's located, and they want nothing to do with the government.
And that's upside down now.
Why does Walmart support Obamacare?
Because they can afford it.
Their competitors can't.
And so an alliance with Obama allows Walmart to watch idly while their competition goes out of business or is really harmed because they don't have the association with Obama and they can't afford the new requirements.
So Walmart doesn't have to do any better at customer service.
It doesn't have to lower prices.
It doesn't have to do any better as a business in order to succeed and prosper.
All it has to do is become friends with Obama.
Same thing with Costco.
You ever wonder why Costco is in favor of the minimum wage being raised?
That doesn't make any sense.
Every business in the world ought to be opposed to the minimum wage.
But why is Costco fine against Costco?
Well, easy.
They can afford it.
Their competitors can't.
They support it.
They help get it passed.
And without having to improve the way they do business at all, their competitors are hurt.
That's how the game is played now.
And who opposes this?
You and me.
We oppose this kind of crony capital.
That makes us, that makes us, the Tea Party, the big enemy of Washington.
Not just the Democrats, but of Washington.
The Chamber of Commerce guy runs around.
What do they want?
Illegal immigration amnesty.
They want it for cheap labor.
The Republicans and Democrats are all aligned.
Some Silicon Valley groups are all aligned.
Who doesn't want this?
You and me, Tea Party.
Why?
Free markets, the rule of law.
We don't want the country flooded with low-educated, poor people.
They're going to, as you just well know, be a huge detriment to the overall prosperity of everybody who lives here.
But we thus become the enemy of Washington.
You can look at it as ruling class country class.
You can look at it as elites versus plebes, as the establishment versus whatever, however you want to term it.
The only real enemy of Washington today is the Tea Party, the Republican base.
And that's why all these forces are aligned against us.
Because if we ever got our way, all these arrangements would end.
Now, it's not true of every corporate.
Obviously, every business is not tied to Obama, but those who are happen to look at the financial services.
This is another point that was made in the piece, and it's right on the money.
Oh, look at Wall Street's going through the roof.
But is there any associated massive economic growth with it?
No.
Are there any massive, really new kinds of great products out there?
You can't wait to get your hands on?
No.
What's happening is that people are moving money around and making profit on the movement of money, but that's all.
Wealth for the sake of it with no dream attached to it, no great accomplishment, no great service, no great product.
But the people involved are getting very, very rich, and they're doing it because of an association with the government, which allows it.
I.e. the Fed funding it with QE1, QE2, QE3.
Well, who would want to upset that out?
Well, who's on Wall Street?
Major big business.
Always assumed to be what?
Free market Republicans.
Guess what?
No longer.
It's just easier.
It's just so much easier to suck up and kiss butt with the administration, get in tight, get protection, preferential treatment, while your competitors don't have it.
And it's a simple way of gaining market share without having to improve your business, without having to make a better product or provide a better service.
And that's what's happening.
And a lot of people, so when Snerdly comes in and says, when is there going to be a special press?
Special press for what?
Missing emails?
Who's going to appoint the special prosecutor?
He said, well, the Republicans, look at, go back and look at the Republican.
Take a look at the conservative Republican freshman class in 1995.
You know who's in it?
Newt, of course.
And Newt today is not the Newt of 95, right?
John Boehner was part of that mix.
He's definitely not the John Boehner of 1995 anymore, is he?
Dick Army, not even around anymore.
But you can look at all those guys.
Lindsey Graham, Republican freshman, 1995.
Look at him now.
They all have become part of the DC crony capitalist establishment or crony socialist establishment or what have you.
And they all have their vested interests.
But who Ever opposes this is going to be considered the enemy.
And that's the Tea Party.
General Electric, just to remind you, was given at least $3 billion from the regime for green energy research.
$3 billion that their competitors didn't get, and they didn't need it, but they didn't have to spend their own money.
And they had this great relationship, the government sanctioning GE's work on this.
And then we remember the Solyndras and all the other arrangements Obama had with other green energy people.
Some of them were not established, but the people involved ended up getting rich before they got out.
Well, everybody else involved went bankrupt.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how Washington works in microcosm today.
It's not like you were taught Economics 101, build a better product, make a better service, go out and compete, have people that really work hard for you and follow your dreams and voila.
That's not the way it works.
And it doesn't help that the president of the regime happens to be a historical first African American, making any opposition that much more unlikely, because people are afraid to.
And so this new system, and there's always been evidence of it.
I mean, it's nothing really new.
It's just how widespread it is now and how the players are so different.
I mean, it's still, you go out to the low-information world and it still believes that Republicans are these uncaring, rich, fat cats screwing their customers that couldn't care less about anything but getting rich and are rich because they took money.
People still believe that.
When the Republicans, in many cases, have become as pro-big government as the Democrats are.
The dirty little secret is it's the Democrats who behave this way too: Democrat CEOs, Democrat financial services managers.
But anyway, I just had to tell that little story because Snerdley believes that it's 1995.
When something like this outrageous IRS thing happens, there's going to be a special prosecutor.
No, there won't be because Washington is not going to harm itself.
Just not going to do that.
The parties will protect themselves.
They got too great a thing going.
This is too good a thing.
So we've now captured a militia leader, suspect in the deadly Benghazi terror attack.
And again, guess the video really wasn't to blame because now militia leader, obviously, it was Somali.
It was a terrorist group.
That's the one word they're not using.
Six more people at the IRS have had their emails destroyed.
Islamic Muslim terrorists are mass murdering the men that America trained with a lot of blood, a lot of sweat, a lot of money to protect themselves in Iraq.
Islamic Muslim terrorists are mass murdering Iraqis, trained by Americans, trained with a lot of blood, a lot of sweat, a lot of money.
What's Obama doing?
What's the State Department?
What is going on while all of that is taking place in Iraq?
Come back in just a moment.
I will continue to put all of this in total perspective for you.
Greetings, my friends, and welcome back.
El Rushbo's serving humanity, executing assigned host duties flawlessly, zero mistakes.
You know, my friends, I have been dubious about claims of man-made global warming ever since I've been hosting this program.
25 years, I have told you that it's a hoax.
But something happens that may is happening that I'm maybe changing my mind.
Leonardo DiCaprio is going to speak at President Obama's Our Ocean Conference.
State Department is holding a conference about the ecological threats facing the world's oceans.
And Leonardo DiCaprio will be a featured speaker.
And I'm beginning to change my mind now.
Maybe there is something to it.
I mean, you go out and get a powerhouse like DiCaprio, and then you do an Our Oceans conference in the middle of all this other stuff going on.
John Kerry said, Look, I am pleased that Leo DiCaprio is lending his powerful voice to our call to action to work together to protect the world's oceans.
I guess I just needed the right person to convince me.
For some people, it was Gore's movie.
For me, it's Leonardo DiCaprio.
I mean, if he's going to tell me that all this stuff is real, I guess I have no choice but to believe him.
If they're going to throw powerful minds like this at us, obviously, folks, they're now really bringing out the heavyweights and the heavy hitters.
And it's making me seriously question my previous commitment to the idea that man-made global warming is a hoax.
I mean, just the other day, I mean, this guy DiCaprio knows his stuff.
The same week that he was lauded by the State Department for his efforts to save the Earth.
That's not something too many of us can say.
He was celebrating the World Cup by partying on the world's fifth largest yacht owned by a wealthy oil sheikh in Santrope.
Or maybe it was down, maybe it was in Brazil.
I don't know.
But I mean, if this guy DiCaprio is comfortable enough to tell us that we are destroying the planet and that oil is the scourge of modern humanity and that we have got to get rid of it, that we've got to stop using it.
And if the State Department has employed him, i.e. John Kerry, to show up at a Save Our Oceans conference, and the week prior, DiCaprio is on a party owned by one of the biggest oil sheikhs in the world.
Of course, I jest, ladies and gentlemen, look at what's happening here.
Islamic Muslim terrorists mass murdering the men we trained in Iraq to protect themselves.
Meanwhile, the State Department's having a seminar on the depth of the oceans with a Hollywood idiot, Supposedly as the big draw, Obama's playing golf and giving commencement speeches on global warming while al-Qaeda is on the march.
Can somebody put the pieces together here?
Just for grins, keep audio, soundbite number 14 standing by, but I'm still planning on starting a number two.
Greetings, welcome back.
Michael Rushmore, the cutting-edge societal evolution.
Folks, anybody want to bet me that this Benghazi suspect at some point have captured the militia leader, leader of the Benghazi attack?
Anybody want to bet me that, oh, sometime this week, he will admit that the internet video is what made him so mad that he rounded up his buddies and began the assault on the consulate.
I'm just going to tell you, I'm not going to predict that, but I want to go on record here on June the 17th, making it very clear that if that does happen, I, for one, will not be surprised in the least.
It would fit perfectly.
Because grab soundbite 21.
Let me upset the Apple card.
Let's go back and listen to this montage.
This is September 20th through 28th of 2011.
Well, actually, yeah, 2011.
September.
Whenever the Benghazi thing happened, it was after that.
And we've got a montage here of eight days.
Not one of these is repeated.
I don't care how offensive this video was.
It was terribly offensive.
And we should shut it.
This video is disgusting and reprehensible.
It appears to have a deeply cynical purpose to denigrate a great religion and to provoke rage.
Let's be clear.
These protests were in reaction to a video that had spread to the region.
You had a video that was released by somebody who lives here, sort of a shadowy character, who is an extremely offensive video.
The unrest we've seen has been in reaction to a video.
As a crude and disgusting video, sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world.
It was a spontaneous, not a premeditated, response, a direct result of a heinous and offensive video.
I know there are some who ask, why don't we just ban such a video?
And the answer is enshrined in our laws.
Our Constitution protects the right to practice free speech.
That's Obama telling the Star Wars bar scene attendees at the United Nations why we just don't ban the video.
Well, you world leaders may not know it here, but we have a constitution, damn it.
And I can't just put somebody in jail for what they say.
But I'm going to put this guy in jail for what he did.
And they did put him.
So doesn't it follow?
I mean, with all of that blame on the video, doesn't this suspect have to say that the video made him do it?
We'll see why today.
Well, because Iraq is falling apart and this CNN orc poll, six in ten Americans dissatisfied with the way the Obama administration has handled the deadly terror attack on the compound in Benghazi.
The CNN poll released yesterday indicates only 37% are satisfied with the regime's response, which killed four Americans, including the ambassador to Libya.
Despite the political offense mounted against her, Clinton still fares slightly better than the administration in terms of public opinion, according to the survey.
43% are satisfied with her role in the matter.
55% have a negative view.
61% think the regime blew it and is being dishonest about it.
61% think that the regime is being dishonest.
55% have a negative view of Hillary in providing information about Benghazi in the aftermath.
So on the heels of that poll that just was released yesterday, and in the midst of Mrs. Clinton's failed book tour and failed book rollout, all of a sudden we capture the militia leader who led the attack.
It's a beautiful thing.
And the guy's going to have to say that the video is what, speaking of Mrs. Clinton's book, it was just last Tuesday, one week ago, on this program, that I said I don't think things are going as well with her book as they had planned.
I said, that's just my first take, but based on things I'm seeing in the news, it's still number two on Amazon, despite having the whole drive-by media behind it.
It's already been marked down to 40%, which is not uncommon.
Standard operating procedure is marked down 30%, anywhere from 15 to 30%.
40%, the first week of a book, big book like this, not common.
And so we had this email that was released yesterday from a source inside Simon ⁇ Schuster, the publisher.
They've only sold 60,000 books.
Now stop and think.
I think, folks, that this is a teachable moment.
Here you have Simon ⁇ Schuster, New York publishing house, obviously caught up in the New York, Washington political axis.
And in that world, Mrs. Clinton is the biggest thing going.
And it was a big coup to get her and her book on her time as Secretary of State.
They paid her a $14 million advance from the woman that was dead broke a few short years ago.
They paid her $14 million.
They were hoping they needed 150,000 hardcover sales the first week.
They got 60.
But the thing is, Mrs. Clinton was the beneficiary of $50 million of free advertising with all the networks talking about it and interviewing her.
And tonight, Fox is orgasming over the fact that they've got her on two different shows.
They've got her on Brett Baer's show at 6.45, and then they've got her on Greta Van Sustern's show at 7.
So she's going Do 15 minutes with Brett Baer, 15 minutes with Greta.
She's all over CNN.
She's all over everywhere and still can't get to number one on Amazon.
The highest she got there was number two, which kind of makes me think that she might not have even really gotten there.
But that's neither here nor there.
The point is that look, when Simon Schuster signed the deal with her, they were beside themselves.
They thought they had the biggest publisher event in who knows how many years, and they're sending press releases out and letters.
And oh my God, they were so happy.
And they were thanking each other and thanking themselves and praising everyone.
What a great thing.
Everything, everybody's going to want to read this.
And nobody cares.
And they don't know that nobody cares.
They're not in the business of throwing $14 million away.
Now, it is possible that people would like to buy access.
Invitations to parties.
Who knows?
There's all kinds of reasons why businesses do what they do now.
If you go back and listen to Leslie Moonvis about hiring, what's his name?
The Letterman replacement.
Right, right, Colbert.
Say hire Colbert.
Leslie Moonvis is not about ratings.
And it's not about selling ads.
It's about bragging rights.
Okay, so Moonves wanted to be able to strut around and say, I got the hippest guy in comedy, and I got him, and he's replacing Letterman.
I don't care if anybody watches.
I got the hippest guy.
And we don't sell on ratings in late nights.
It doesn't matter if anybody watches.
It doesn't.
Okay, so if you're Simon and Schuster and Hillary's a big get, the bragging rights are getting her.
14 million, that's what it took.
Amortize it somewhere else.
You have to.
You're not going to make that back on this book.
So they've got to make it back somewhere else somehow.
They do want to make it back.
But maybe that's not why they spent the $14.
Maybe they spent the $14 just for access.
Hillary's cool.
Hillary's hip.
Hillary's the hottest thing going.
They think.
55% of the American people think that she's lying about Benghazi and thinks she mishandled it.
61% think that about Obama.
The disconnect to me is stunning.
The genuine and people who are in the business, you would think, being able to relate to, understand customers, American customers, people who buy books, you would think there'd be some innate understanding.
And there's none.
There's a total belief in the buzz and the PR and the Clinton name that it's magic and it's going to result in what?
Millions of copies sold?
Who believed this?
Now, even with $50 million of free advertising, and not just free app, but puff piece advertising, Mrs. Clinton is being lauded and celebrated and puff-pieced all over the place.
He's just had one really somewhat tough interview on NPR, which doesn't cancel out all of the fawning stuff that she's got.
And my point, if you'll recall, is a quite, I think, salient point.
Why does she need any public?
This is Mrs. Hillary Clinton.
She's the biggest, smartest woman in America.
Maybe the smartest woman in the world.
She may be the first female president, Secretary of State, first ladies.
Why does she need a dime of promotion?
Why, I would think Mrs. Clinton has a built-in audience that couldn't wait to buy her book, but apparently not.
And who didn't know that?
The people who are in business to know that didn't know that nobody cares.
And even the people buying the book aren't going to read it.
And you know why?
Because nobody believes what's in it is true.
Nobody believes that Mrs. Clinton's going to really tell us what did or didn't happen to Benghazi in this book.
And nobody believes that she's going to dish dirt on Obama, telling him about what really happened.
It's just going to be more press secretary type stuff.
So in effect, what does she get out of all that?
Well, she gets $14 million and she gets the publisher paying for the kickoff to her campaign.
She gets the publisher to pay for the kickoff her own campaign.
She has to suffer this.
Look at this is embarrassing.
This is Hillary Clinton.
And to have it out there now from an inside source, it's not even a Schuster that this book is a bomb.
You know, books, in a way, not always, but something like movies.
You better show up big the first weekend or you're in trouble.
If you don't go Baffle box office the first weekend with a movie, you got some problems.
Books depends.
It's different from book to book.
Well, you look at me.
Well, don't look at me.
Now, why not?
Two books in the top five.
Children's List, New York Times, going on 30 weeks.
I've gotten not one dime of free media from anybody.
Well, I take it back.
There might be Fox and Friends might have mentioned it, but I haven't done any interviews.
I haven't gone anywhere.
There hasn't been a significant time I haven't promoted it other than here.
I haven't taken anywhere.
I haven't gone out and done appearances.
None of that.
There hasn't been any fawning coverage of me.
All there has been.
Some of the coverage, some of the reviews have been good.
Must admit that.
Some of the reviews have actually been good, truthful, and honest in local papers around the country.
But nowhere near the kind of rollout that average authors, and nowhere near what Mrs. Clinton has done here.
But my point always has been: why does she need this?
If you believe the pre-pub, if you believe all of this image, buzz and PR that this is the smartest woman and everybody's behind her and everybody wants her to be great and everybody wants her to become president and everybody first female, all the.
She ought to have a built-in audience just clamoring, lining up to buy the book, just with the knowledge it's on sale that day, not because they're watching TV and being told or convinced, or persuaded to go buy it.
If they have to do that to get people to buy this book, it's already a failure, if you ask me.
But that's just my observation.
I've always found and found it weird well no, I haven't found it actually the fact that the, The people inside that New York Washington bubble have no clue how the vast majority of people in this country actually perceive.
I mean, the woman lost her own coronation.
How do you lose your own coronation?
The 2008 Democrat nomination was hers.
It was coronation.
She wasn't even going to have to compete.
And out of the blue came a better-looking, more preferable minority.
And the Democrats are conflicted.
Oh, my God, what do we do now?
I've got a black versus a woman.
Oh, no.
So they went for the young, good-looking guy.
A New York congressman wants to give illegal immigrants voting rights.
New York lawmaker, that's coming up.
And wait till you hear about all the legal representation all these illegal kids are getting pro bono, which guarantees them amnesty is the bottom line, and their families as well, all bought and paid for by the regime.
It's an all-out assault on the America we all loved and knew.
Grab a call in Utica, New York.
Hi, Joe.
You're on first today.
Welcome to the EIB network.
Oh, wonderful.
I was a born Democrat, but I'm a conservative all my life.
As far as Hillary is concerned, that $14 million is an under the table contribution to our campaign.
They certainly aren't going to make any money on board.
I look at it could well be.
I'm not going to level that kind of allegation when I don't know it.
It's easier just to focus on misguided competence.
Look, there's no, look, the publishing industry is like most other industries dominated by liberals and leftists.
And there's no doubt that there's a lot of love in all the publishing houses for Hillary Clinton.
And $14 million at the end of the year is a rounding error on the P ⁇ L because Simon Schuster is owned by CBS.
So there are any number of ways to make that $14 million disappear.
What gets me, and I know that Joe's point, Rush, you're missing the point.
They didn't invest in thinking they're going to sell tons of books.
Yes, they did.
They might also be investing in her campaign.
They might also be doing all that under-the-table stuff, and she might be using them and that $14 million to kick off her campaign.
But at the same time, do not believe that they didn't think the book was going to just jump off the shelves.
You really, you're looking at me.
Do you really think they knew they had a dud and didn't care?
No, of course they didn't.
They thought this was going to be big.
They wanted it to be.
And, you know, now, if Bill had a book and the title of that was Hard Choices with the foreword by Monica Lewinsky, then maybe you might have a book that would walk itself off the shelf.
Okay, I don't know if this captured Benghazi subject, suspect, will actually say the video made him do it.
Wouldn't be surprised.
But I do know for sure.
The media is going to say that this solves, this capture solves Obama's Benghazi problem, and it'll be fixed and off the table.
