So I just went in there and I asked Snerdly, are you getting any complaints from the stick to the issues crowd?
As any time, we're not talking about Democrats or Obama.
There's always got some people or golf and people call it stick to the issues.
And he said, not one, not one call.
And I knew you wouldn't.
I was just, I was just in there.
Anyway, folks, great to be back with you.
Here we are, the Fastest Three Hours in Media.
It is today, the 25th anniversary of this program.
August 1st, 1988 is when it began.
And the telephone number, if you want to be on the program, is 800-282-2882.
Here's a story.
I just love this story.
Saw it yesterday.
And I made a point to put it at the top of the stack.
And it actually kind of dovetails with what I was just talking about.
How liberalism is an imposition.
Left to your own devices.
You will never build a wall around your country to keep yourself in.
Most people, if left alone, will never be liberals.
That has to be imposed.
It has to be propagandized.
It's not a natural state.
Freedom is the natural state of the human being.
And liberalism is an imposition on freedom.
But for most of my life, and certainly most of my adult life, the American left loved the Soviet Union.
The American left thought the Soviet Union was the answer.
They hated Reagan.
They hated anybody who looked at the Soviet Union as an enemy.
I'm not making this up.
For those of you who are young and can't, did not, the Soviet Union, Ted Kennedy went over there and apologized to them for Reagan.
Just as Obama told Vladimir Putin, if you just hang on, wait till I win re-election and I'll have more flexibility.
It hasn't changed.
And the reason actors and actresses and so forth are so enamored of people like Castro and Hugo Chavez, they envy their power.
But the media and the Democrats in this country would not tolerate any opposition to the Soviet Union.
And much of the conservative movement, 70s and 80s, was oriented toward defeating the Soviet Union.
That was just unacceptable.
Not permitted.
The Democrats thought we needed a superpower that was an enemy, supposed, to balance the United States.
Because in their mind, the United States was the focus of evil in the world.
The United States was not the solution of the world's problems.
And I am not exaggerating this.
There was tolerance, understanding.
I remember when Mikhail Gorbachev came along, it was almost hero worship.
Media, Gorbachev was the second coming.
He was the savior of the world.
He was going to save the world and us from that evil Ronald Reagan.
So this story that I saw yesterday, it's from Moscow.
In Russia, it is now illegal to even speak about homosexuality around minors.
It is illegal to openly display gay pride.
Technically, the ban is against propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations.
But non-traditional sexual relations in the Soviet Union, homosexuality.
You cannot hold hands.
You can't display symbols like a rainbow flag.
All that's banned.
Violators who are openly gay or even talk about it face steep fines and jail time.
Foreigners face similar penalties plus deportation.
The headline of the story, gay athletes could be prosecuted at the 2014 Winter Olympics, Russian lawmaker suggests.
A Russian lawmaker, just one guy, but it is currently the law in Russia.
It is illegal to even speak about homosexuality around minors.
Illegal to openly display gay pride.
And this is the country that they have always thought was superior to the United States.
I just find the irony delicious.
Liberals have been screaming and whining and moaning and accusing, suing, demanding, legislating for years that the United States is discriminatory.
The United States is racist.
The United States is homophobic and bigoted, evil, xenophobic.
And yet, here in the Soviet Union, run by a former commander of the KGB, gay athletes could be prosecuted at the 2014 Winter Olympics if this guy has his way.
Now, the International Olympic Committee will obviously move and try to do something about this.
Obama will probably make a big play about saving the day.
But the state of things now, I just find it ironic because the liberals in this country have always looked at Russia, the Soviet Union, the Eastern Bloc, as they've looked upon it with acceptance, in some cases envy.
It's just been amazing.
Now, I mentioned RushLimbaugh.com.
There is a virtual museum there, the Limbaugh Broadcast Museum, and it is phenomenal.
I recommend constantly that people go there.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary, we have updated the Limbaugh Museum.
It went live just this morning.
Now, to get there, you just, you click on the, it's plain as day.
Just go to rushlimbaugh.com and just find the museum and click on it, and it'll take you there.
Along the sides of the hall in the Limbaugh Museum, we have images highlighting moments in my career from the last five years since we first opened the museum.
So we've updated it and we've added things that have happened the last five years.
We've added a replica of my bust from the Hall of Famous Missourians.
On each side of the bust, we have two 2F by T vending machines.
In the Limbaugh Broadcast Museum, a couple of vending machines for 2F by T.
These look so good, we're going to have to make them.
We're going to have to build some of these.
At the back of the Great Hall in the Limbaugh Broadcast Museum, we've added the Rush Impressions Gallery.
You can click on the faces of nearly 40 famous people and hear me impersonating them.
We've got Clinton, Perot, Obama.
We got Alabama Senator Howell Heflin.
We even have the famous Judge Susan Hirchner from the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings.
Who?
May Angelou.
Now we have to add my Angelou.
Maya Angelou de Rac de Vivi.
She did the poem at the first Clinton inauguration.
We've also made some updates to existing parts of the museum, which people can explore and find.
And we have, as well, we got a new premium.
It's a Rush 24-7 premium that commemorates the EIB 25th anniversary.
It's a t-shirt, free t-shirt, signifying the 25th anniversary.
It's free with a subscription to Rush 24-7, the website.
So it's all there.
But the work that Coco and his gang, Michelle and others, have done in the museum is just incredible.
And I would be remiss not pointing in at now.
Now, speaking of 2F by T, we've got a little special that we're running here on the T.
And I've mentioned to you that one of the most enjoyable things that we do is make the phone call to our sweepstakes winners and telling them that they have won.
It is one of our greatest joys.
We get to meet these people on the phone.
And people have said, well, why don't you play these calls on the air?
And it's, well, you have to get permission from people before you record them.
And that takes the spontaneity out of it.
When people know they're being recorded, they start acting or they clam up, one of the two.
So it's not something to be done on a routine basis.
But we have secured permission, permission from the most recent winners, the people that won our biggest 2F by T sweepstakes yet, a Jeep Patriot.
The grand prize winner was a lovely lady from Oklahoma, and they granted us permission to play the call.
Catherine and I call them.
We do this.
Every call is made around six or seven at night, so we hope to find people at home, and we always hope they pick up rather than let the call go to voicemail.
And this winner happened to pick up.
So here's how the last telephone call to our last sweepstakes winner sounded.
Hello?
Phyllis, hi.
Rush Limbaugh here and my wife, Catherine.
And we're on the phone to tell you that you are it.
You're the big winner, Phyllis, of the Jeep Patriot as part of our 2F by T sweepstakes.
You're kidding me.
No, this is Catherine.
How are you?
I'm fine.
I am delighted to talk to you.
My goodness.
We want it, too.
I can't believe it.
Well, believe it.
It happened.
That's why we're calling you.
We're so excited.
This is one of the biggest sweepstakes that we've had, and it's a beautiful SUV.
It's all yours now.
Oh, my God.
You're my hero.
Yes, I'm used to that.
You're from Chance by Kim.
When you entered, did you think you had a chance at winning, or were you just doing it to do it?
You know, I did.
I honestly did.
I thought to myself, my, wouldn't this be wonderful?
Because our car's getting broke down.
That's so great.
Every winner that we've had, I've asked them that, and every winner thought that they were going to win.
This is incredible.
You're keeping a streak on it.
Well, thank you so much.
I don't know what to say.
I can't imagine anything more wonderful.
We really thank you guys because you really help us help the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation by buying the tea and then entering the sweepstakes and everything.
And they just do great work.
And all of you that help us make this possible are just great.
We really do have profound appreciation and love for you.
We're really honored that you're in the audience.
People like you make the country work and everything.
We really are happy to have you join our winners roster here.
You come by on here one day and look coefficient.
You can't imagine what a big fail it is to actually talk to you.
Oh, honestly.
I've never tried to call your show because I know how hard it is to get in.
But we're total conservative people, and we love America, and we love what you do for America.
Well, God bless you.
God bless you.
And thank you again.
We're really thrilled that you are the winners, and congratulations again.
And don't forget, now we'll be back in touch with you to handle all the logistics of this.
I appreciate it, and thank you so much.
Thank you a lot.
Take care, you guys.
Congratulations.
Bye-bye.
Bye-bye.
That's the edited version.
That's about two minutes.
It went on for probably another three or four, but that's the condensed version.
Great couple.
They're from Oklahoma, and they are the winners of a Jeep Patriot.
They've got it.
They picked it.
It's white.
And you can see a picture of this couple and their brand new Jeep Patriot at 2fbyt.com.
We're going to own you on websites, folks.
You've got numerous websites to go.
Rushlimbo.com, 2fbit.com.
In fact, today and tomorrow only, we're going to do something in honor of the 25th anniversary and the latest sweepstakes winners.
Today and tomorrow only, all cases of the finest, most patriotic, the best iced tea in this country is just 10 bucks.
10 bucks a case.
And of course, free shipping.
It's 12 bottles delivered right to you.
Can't beat it through tomorrow, 11.59 p.m. Pacific, 2fbytea.com.
Take a quick timeout back after this.
Don't go away.
By the way, just to be clear, Maya Angelou is in the new Hall of Fame Impressions Gallery, the Limbaugh Broadcast Museum, the Rush Impressions Gallery.
Maya Angelou is in there.
De riveu de rock in the tea.
Here's Richard as we head back to the phones in Oxnard, California.
Hi, Richard.
I'm glad you called.
Goodos, Rush.
Happy anniversary.
Thank you, sir.
Thank you for 25 great years.
Thank you very much.
Appreciate it.
I'd like to discuss liberalism with you just a bit further, if you don't mind.
No, go right ahead.
Okay.
As you know, being a strong conservative, our conservatism is based in faith and freedom and the truth.
And to contrast that, liberalism is, they live in fear, Rush.
They have, and you've made comments through the years.
I've listened to you 25 years, and you've made comments through the years about how things that you know to be true are said to be false.
And then things that you know to be false are said to be true.
And that's the power of denial that the liberals use in confronting conservatism.
Well, there's no question.
One of the most, I don't know if I can say upsetting things about where we are is that liberalism is a series of lies that people have come to accept.
Exactly.
It's one of the most amazing things.
But it's been a slow evolution.
They've been working at it for more than 50 years, and they get hold of kids in school, start propagandizing them then, and then those kids become parents, and the cycle starts repeating itself.
And one of the real keys is that there is no conservatism in pop culture.
It's all liberal.
And so it's made to look cool.
It's made to look hip.
But none of it's right.
None of it's real.
It's all a fabricated series of lies or untruths.
You're absolutely right about that.
I think the best example we have today is our current president and the regime that's in the White House and running our government.
They say one thing that they profess to be the truth, but everything they do is the exact opposite.
They live in denial of the truth.
Well, it's worse than that.
The things that are happening are said to be not happening because of the people doing it.
The people doing these things are getting away with acting like they are fighting it.
The real accredited liberals know that it has to be forced on people, that it has to be imposed, that people have to be tricked into accepting it.
And that's what Obama is.
He's a trickster artist, and he's really good at it.
That's why the perpetual campaign, that's why appearing to be opposed to everything that's happened and happening and trying to fix it, trying to create jobs when his policies are destroying them and shrinking job opportunities for people.
On purpose, make government necessary in people's lives.
There's a story about this.
Washington Examiner, many disability recipients admit they could work.
Recipients of federal disability checks often admit that they're capable of working, but they can't or won't find a job.
That those closest to them tell them they should be working and that working to get off the disability rolls is not among their goals.
More baffling, most have never received significant medical treatment for their disability.
They haven't seen a doctor about their condition in the last year, even though medical problems are the official reason they don't work.
Those who acknowledge that they're on disability because they can't find a job say they make little effort to find one, according to a Washington Examiner analysis of federal survey results.
This information comes from survey data performed by the government on people who are collecting disability benefits.
It's not something anybody's making up here.
The government's gone out and surveyed these people.
They admit they don't want to work.
They admit they're not trying to find work.
They admit that they're not getting medical treatment for their disability.
It's just easier.
And the Democrats, the liberals are happy to provide your money to these people in exchange for these people's support and votes.
I mean, this speaks precisely to my point in this country today about how many people are not working and yet they're eating.
They're not working, but they're using cell phones and watching TVs and driving.
And they're going to movies.
And they're not looking for jobs.
It isn't necessary.
It's not that big a deal because the federal gravy tan is making it possible for them.
The country can't survive this way.
Folks, there's another very important and crucial aspect of liberalism to understand.
One of the fundamental elements of liberalism is a promise to people that others will be punished.
There are many liberals who love to hear that the rich are going to get a tax increase.
Liberalism spawns, sponsors, promotes class envy.
Liberalism promotes and sponsors the division of people.
Liberalism pits groups of people against each other.
Liberalism promises certain people that others are going to be punished.
That the brute force of government is going to get even with people.
It's a hideous, hideous thing.
It is destructive.
You look at any city in this country or any country in this world that has been run for years unchecked by liberals, and you're going to see total destruction.
You're going to see poverty.
You're going to see economic distress.
People enraged, angry, depending on somebody else to get through the day.
It is an ugly, ugly picture.
And it all happens under the guise of compassion.
It all happens under the false promise that you're being taken care of, that you're being cared for, and the people doing this to you care about you and the other guys, i.e., Republicans, don't.
It is a series of some of the most amazing lies.
And that's what's breathtaking.
How about this?
Elliot Spitzer refused to deny that he has a girlfriend.
Elliot Spitzer may be having an affair.
Now, we know that his wife says she's going to divorce him after the elections.
We assume that was because of the client number nine experience.
But Spitzer refuses to deny rumors he's having an affair.
The candidate for city controller was asked three times at a campaign stop in Brooklyn about persistent rumors he's having an affair.
He said, I'm so tired of these personal attacks.
I've answered all those questions.
The public cares about what I did in government.
And that's what I'm going to be talking about.
And that's what the public is going to be voting on based on what I did in terms of trying to clean up Wall Street, which got a lot more attention than the other things that we did.
Meaning client number nine and so forth.
But who are these people, folks?
Look at the people liberal Democrats choose to reward, to promote, to elevate.
Bill Clinton at the top of that heap.
Speaking of, let's go back to the groove yard of forgotten favorites.
Let's go back to October 22nd, 1992.
About a month.
No, no, less than maybe three weeks, two weeks before the 1992 election.
I was at my wit's end.
And so I decided to try something.
My friends, it's just this simple.
I've changed my mind on the presidential race.
I have no choice.
I mean, I have a choice, but I mean, I've made up my mind.
I've been hoping, I've been holding out hope that there would be a massive rebound.
I've been holding out hope that the president could pull this thing out, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
And I have my career to think about.
And if the mood of this country is not where I am right now, then I'm the one that's going to have to change.
And I have been challenged to have the courage to change.
And so I have.
I am here to tell you that I today understand the mood of the majority of the people in this country.
I, ladies and gentlemen, here at 12 minutes after the hour on the 22nd of October, am here to tell you that I have decided to endorse the candidacy of Bill Clinton for president.
No, I'm not crying.
I'm just talking about having no choice.
Talk about it's the only way I think the country can really truly be saved.
Not with Clinton.
I don't think that Clinton himself is going to be the instrument of revitalization by virtue of what he will do.
It will be what he will cause to occur elsewhere.
And I don't know.
I just wish I wouldn't have to.
I would love to sit here and continue the charade of being for President Bush, but I can't.
So there.
You know, I'm sure that you understand this has not been easy.
I've had to weigh my thoughts very carefully.
I've had to weigh this decision.
I've thought about it a lot.
I've talked to a lot of people.
I have not made this decision lightly.
So I've had the courage to change.
And I announced my endorsement of Bill Clinton October 22nd, 1992.
Then went to commercial break.
And then came back from the commercial break and went straight to the phones.
Phyllis in the Bronx in New York.
Hello.
I am a conservative, and I back my president 100%.
I work for the Board of Ed.
I am homesick today, but now I'm really sick.
Rush.
What are you doing to us?
I'm sick and tired of the liberals in this country who are pushing our president.
What are you talking about?
I mean, you're backing, Mr. You're backing Bill Clinton.
I am not.
I am.
You just said you're backing.
I never said that.
You said you were going to change your vote.
You're not voting for the president.
You're going to have to vote for Bill Clinton.
I did not say that.
I did not say that I was going to...
What did you say?
What did you say?
I...
I did not say that I was going to vote for Bill Clinton.
But I heard you say those words.
No, no, no, no.
You're just trying to twist my words and turn them around.
I never said it.
What did you say?
Could you just tell me you said you couldn't.
You know, I can't even talk.
I'm so upset.
I'm practically ready for tears.
Look, I don't know.
You keep wanting to look in.
Look, look, look, all I can tell you is I'm tired of it.
Everybody wants to look into my past.
No, no, no, no.
It was 23 minutes ago.
You keep talking about something that happened 23 minutes ago.
It's irrelevant.
Can't we move on with things that matter?
You're upset about changing your entire conservative view?
Can't we talk about the things that mean you keep wanting to say what I said 23 minutes ago?
It doesn't matter.
It does.
You said it does not.
Because of the country.
I didn't say it.
I didn't say it.
I was younger 23 minutes ago.
Cut me some slack.
No.
I did.
You know, this is the thing.
We're trying to move forward.
We've got some things that are important that we've got to do on this radio show, and you want to talk about something that happened 23 minutes ago.
That's right.
Of course, it's very relevant.
It is not.
We are two weeks away from the election.
You are talking to the entire country, and the entire country is listening to you, who has been our leader, the one we looked up to for everything.
Now you're telling us I can't go with Mr. Bush.
I never said that.
I did not say that you can't go with Mr. Bush.
You can go with Mr. Bush.
I hope you.
I am going with Mr. Bush.
I think everybody should.
And just at this moment, when the industrial production in the country is on the upswing, labor figures are up, I mean, people are really starting to get it back together again.
We need to vote for Mr. Bush.
He needs us now.
He needs our support more than ever.
Let me tell you something.
I couldn't agree with you more.
Where have you been?
You're going to have to listen a little bit more closely, Phillips, and you're going to have to think about the future.
What happens in the past is irrelevant.
It doesn't matter.
You mean you're talking about my character.
When you are challenging something I've said 23, 25 minutes ago, you're talking about my character.
My character doesn't matter to anything.
What matters is this country and how we've got to get it fixed and do it right.
And then so just I appreciate your concern, but you've got to get focused on the things that are important.
That went on for an entire hour.
Caller after caller demanding to know why I endorsed Clinton and I continued to deny it.
Or admitting that it was in my past and irrelevant and I shouldn't be judged by things I said in the past.
That none of that mattered.
We have to move forward.
I just kept denying it.
I had a rush to excellence stop coming up that next weekend.
I had a guy called say he wasn't going.
He's going to trash his tickets.
He wasn't even going to give them to anybody.
And then finally, after an hour, I said, folks, do you understand?
I've just been pretending to be Clinton for you.
And I'm trying to illustrate.
This was illustrating absurdity by being absurd.
I was just doing what Clinton was doing.
Clinton was lying through his teeth.
He was denying the Jennifer Flower state.
He was denying that he had said certain things.
He was not telling people the truth.
And I was at my wit's end.
The guy's leading in the polls.
I was simply trying to illustrate for people who Clinton was.
And I pulled it off for an hour.
I loved it, denying something I had said 23 minutes ago, making it their fault for misunderstanding me.
One of the highlights.
We'll be back.
Don't go away.
By the way, one thing I should tell you that during that hour after I endorsed Clinton, the media fell for it.
They called Clinton and they were asking him what he thought about the Clinton campaign.
They were happy.
They were ecstatic.
And I had come around and they thought that it was cool and that the president, the future president, I would have things to talk about down the road.
They bought it.
The Clinton campaign, never forget it, bought it hook, line, and sinker until they found out it was a ruse.
And then they went, of course, postal again.
Mary in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Great to have you on EIB Network.
Hello.
Hello.
My husband takes kidney dialysis and there's a 12.3% cut being proposed and the center is not sure they can make it on that cut.
And our local hospital, which is fabulous, possibly a closure in 2017.
Again, they're not being fully reimbursed by Medicare.
Wait, but Obamacare is supposed to fix that.
Well, it's getting serious.
You hear about like unemployment, you know, and you feel for those.
But when he gets close to home, then, you know, you know, then you feel it.
No, Obamacare, you want dialysis, you're going to get it.
And it's either going to be free or cost less than what it costs you now.
That's what I thought.
They're worried down at the center.
Let's put it that way.
Why?
Because they can't make it on a 12.3% cut.
Why are they being cut?
Obamacare is supposed to take care of all that.
I don't know.
Well, that's not supposed to happen.
Well, I think.
Hospitals getting cut, medical centers being cut.
I think my husband deserves better.
He'll be 79 in 29 days.
He said the Marines in Korea in a tent during the war at 19 below zero.
I am being facetious with you, as you know.
This is happening precisely because Obamacare is increasing everybody's costs.
Your hospital can't afford it because they can't comply with Obamacare.
Right.
And they're having to make cost cuts in order to actually stay open.
And unfortunately, you know, there's a thing in Obamacare called death panels that are going to decide what, you know, who gets what, who gets paid for it, who doesn't.
Right.
Is Arkansas a red state or a blue state?
Do you know?
It's a Republican state.
Well, you get even more trouble.
That's just the way they look at it.
I hate hearing this.
This greatest healthcare system in the world.
There's no excuse.
Mary, there's no excuse for this.
Not the greatest healthcare system in the world, and it's being dismantled under the guise of a bunch of other things.
Make it cheaper, available to everybody, make it affordable.
This kind of stuff depresses me.
Must take a break.
Back after this.
Don't go.
By the way, folks, don't forget the greatest iced tea in this country, the absolute best, is only $10 a case today and tomorrow at 11:59 p.m. Pacific tomorrow at 2fbit.com.
$10 a case, free shipping.
Thank you all so much for everything.
I don't have a way to adequately say thanks.
Just know that I appreciate you being out there each and every day.
It's a great comfort knowing that you're there.
I appreciate it.
