Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
I'll tell you anybody uh I may as well just say this.
Anyone who thinks that I am irrelevant needs to hear this.
Greetings, my friends.
Great to have you here, Rush Limbaugh, the EIB network and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
You know that that cold that I have been fighting off.
It really is amazing.
I have some I have some leftovers ICAM, and I've been I've been using it, and I'm not kidding.
If the cold first appeared late last week, and I immediately started taking steps to arrest the development of the cold.
And it worked.
I mean, it just it stopped it from getting any worse.
And the last couple of days, I thought it's gone.
And woke up this morning, and there it's it's back.
If I sound a little hoarse today, that is why, and I just wanted to explain this.
I was also sitting around last time, I was wondering the low information voters out there.
They must be lying awake at night wondering what else Obama hasn't been told about.
You know, yet we have to learn to do this, folks.
We have to learn to look at the news through the eyes of low information voters.
Hard as it is to believe, they really believe when they're told that Obama wasn't told about the IRS when he wasn't told about Benghazi when he took it.
They they believe that.
You're just gonna have to accept it.
And so there's so much that poor Obama doesn't know and hasn't been told about.
I just I just I picture these low information voters lying awake at night, worrying and wondering what else Obama hasn't been told about.
Because I mean, he's important to them.
The low information voters have been told that Obama is the only thing standing between them and the evil Republicans taking everything they have away from them.
Obama's it.
Obama is the barrier.
And everybody's out now to get Obama.
And a low information voting, he doesn't know anything.
Nobody's telling him anything.
It's not his fault.
And they're probably worrying, lying away, because the last thing they want is Republicans getting back into power because they think that means all their stuff is going to be taken away from them.
Now, I saw this, I was told about this today, and I didn't believe it.
I thought somebody was toying with me.
I thought somebody was goosing me.
I thought somebody was razzing me.
I thought somebody was just teasing me.
But then I went and checked it myself.
Now, ladies and gentlemen, we now know that a year ago, one year ago, the IRS investigated the targeting of Tea Party groups.
And they reported to the acting director then, Stephen Miller, and they reported that there were substantial problems of bias.
We were we know that this happened a year ago.
We know the IRS was investigating the in the inspector general, was investigating the targeting of Tea Party groups a year ago.
You're probably saying, well then how how come it's just now coming out?
Well, the New York Times has the answer.
Do you know why the media is just now getting to the IRS story?
It isn't because of Lois Lerner.
It isn't because of Lois Learner's staged QA at the Bar Association meeting.
It isn't because of the uh acting general or even the inspector general report.
No, no, no, no.
The New York Times has an article this morning explaining that the media was too busy covering what I was saying about Sandra Fluck.
They were so busy that all of Washington was so absorbed with that story that they missed everything else going on that weekend during that period of time.
And during that period of time is when it was discovered that the IRS was investigating itself over targeting Tea Party groups.
So the New York Times, in a story this morning, is trying to blame me for the media not uncovering the IRS scandals before the elections.
Now I've heard everything.
Now I this takes the cake.
I have been blamed.
I have now surpassed Bush, folks, in terms of being responsible for things that have gone wrong or being to blame for this this is just I mean I've I've got to put a notch in my belt on this one or something.
Oh, I wish my dad were alive.
I fought my my father would not believe any of this.
Because I didn't go to college.
This none of this stuff is supposed to be possible in his world because I didn't go to college.
I didn't get a degree.
I went to college.
I didn't stay very long.
So there you have it.
And by the way, folks, the fact that the IRS story was not reported before the elections is a huge factor in Obama winning.
Make no mistake about it.
I want you to imagine that everything happening now was happening last May and going into last summer.
Everything we're hearing of about the IRS targeting the Tea Party and the IRS babe that was handling this now being promoted to handle Obamacare for the IRS.
Imagine all of this that's happening now happening exactly one year ago.
You think it would have had an impact on the election.
Damn right it would have.
And this is why it was suppressed.
The entire effort, all of this stuff, the politicizing of all of this was designed to keep it hidden and unreported prior to the election, did O'Benghazi.
Everything was about that.
And now everything is about the Democrats winning the House in 2014 and giving Obama one party rule.
But I just I just want you to know, and maybe I should stand up and spank myself again.
You don't think so, Mr. Snerdley?
Well, I know how ridiculous.
I mean, here's the the New York Times, folks, the paper of record, the greatest newspaper in the world.
Let me read the passage to you.
Snerdley, stop what you're doing and listen, I want you to hear this, because we might get calls about it, you'll have to screen.
Here from the New York Times, perhaps, perhaps those who live in the nation's capital can be excused for missing the potential importance of the IRS allegations because of everything else that was going on.
In the same week, Rush Limbaugh, the conservative icon and radio host, had that kerfuffle with Sandra Fluck about birth control and the fallout from that consumed Washington.
So much so that Mr. Obama eventually had to call Ms. Flook.
And for that reason, the New York Times, the greatest newspaper in the world, is saying that I so distracted the media that they did not notice what was going on at the IRS, even though the IRS had made it public.
The IRS, the IG, everybody knew this was going on.
They just didn't care because I was in the news.
Why was I in the news?
In one context, it does make sense.
They thought they had me.
They thought this was after 24 years, they thought this was it.
This was the moment that they would be rid of the EIB network and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies, and they would be rid of me.
They really thought it.
And you know why it didn't happen, folks?
What do you think the answer to the question is there?
Why did they fail?
Audience, the audio, you people in this audience made it impossible for them to succeed in this.
And I don't want you to ever, ever forget or I don't want you to ever think that I am not grateful, and that I am not appreciative of the fact that you all are there and continue to say that you were there.
And it's it's the old adage if the media didn't make you, they can't break you.
But if the media does make you, in other words, if you become notorious, famous, uh supposedly successful because the media says you are, well then they can just as easily pull the rug out from under you.
But the media had nothing to do with the success of this program.
That is totally up to you people in the audience.
And try as hard as they have and might, again in the future.
They have been unable to break that bond.
And it's a bond they don't even understand.
Even if they're listening to me now, explain it to them.
They don't understand it.
They're thinking, they have to listen to this guy.
He's so full of himself.
This audience loves him.
I can't believe they do not understand the familial-like bond that exists here.
But I just you know, I I had two ways to go with this.
I could ignore this and forget it.
Or I I had to tell you, I had to pass this.
I don't know how many of you read the New York Times, but this is just in mind now I'm supposed to be irrelevant and inconsequential.
Oh, speaking of which, uh Mike, I want you to grab the uh the tape of the presidential press conference of I know it was it was the day after his uh press conference with uh not his press conference, the day after his appearance at the fundraiser at Harvey Weinstein's house.
That three minute presser.
Yeah, yeah, the the one where he blame me for everything.
Uh I did we get people that need to hear this uh again, and I just wanted to reiterate that I I made myself available to the president after his remarks about me, as I'm more than willing to meet him when he wants, wherever he wants, to actually try to get things moving.
He blamed me at that fundraiser for the gridlock in Washington.
He blamed me, somebody inconsequential and irrelevant, he blamed me for the fact that nothing's getting done, that his agenda isn't moving forward.
And I offered to meet with him, and I offered to meet with him where he wants when he in private.
No microphones, no showbiz.
I offered to meet with him to actually give him some advice and tell him how to move things forward.
And if he's interested, tell him where I think he's going wrong.
If I'm this big obstacle, I've offered to talk about ways of perhaps removing the obstacle with me remaining where I am.
In other words, be more than willing to meet with him and explain to him how I'm not the obstacle.
I am the solution, actually.
I've not heard from him.
But let's go back and review it.
Now, the New York Times again, the media, the Washington Press Corps, the New York Press Corps couldn't be bothered with any of the news about the IRS a year ago because of me.
I was so distracting.
I occupied so much of their time.
The story was so fascinating.
They had blinders on.
They were unable to let any other news story in.
Here is the press conference that the president held a day after his press, well, his his fundraiser with uh Harvey Weinstein at his house in Manhattan.
Mr. President, you say the Republicans simply will not cooperate with you.
You thought they might after you won your second term.
Why exactly won't they help you?
It's Rush Limbaugh's fault.
Uh Chris.
It has been learned that the IRS did indeed target Tea Party and other conservative groups for tax audits and harassment during applications for tax exempt status.
Did you know about this, sir?
And if so, when did you learn about it?
And what do you intend to do about it?
Uh that was Rush Limbaugh's fault.
A follow-up, sir.
Uh, it's also come to light that the IRS officials in Washington were involved in the targeting of conservative groups, not just some low level employees from Ohio.
Could that imply a direct connection to your administration?
That was Rush Limbaugh's fault.
Uh yes.
Sir, you said yesterday that the talking points on Benghazi had not been altered, that they were only done at the request of the Republicans in Congress.
No, that was Rush Limbaugh's fault.
Uh Bill.
Susan Rice went on five Sunday morning television shows and claimed that the attack in Benghazi was due to a YouTube video making fun of Islam.
It has since been learned that your administration knew well in advance of her appearance that the attack was a planned orchestrated terrorist attack.
Why was Susan Rice sent out so many days later to continue to say it happened because of the video?
Uh that was Rush Limbaugh's fault.
Uh Ed.
Sir, the Justice Department has secretly collected two months of phone records of the Associated Press reporters and editors, ostensibly to find the source of a leak.
The White House says it has no knowledge of the investigation, but isn't the press protected under the First Amendment?
It's Rush Limbaugh's fault.
Uh Matt, then David.
Mr. President, some Obamacare premium cost estimates are skyrocketing to as high as 400% of current premiums.
Can you still honestly say health care costs will come down under your plan?
That was also Rush Limbaugh's fault.
Sir, the recession will have ended four years ago this summer.
Yet this is the weakest recovery since the Great Depression.
Why haven't you done more to promote economic growth?
It's Rush Limbaugh's fault.
Thank you for being here today.
Thank you.
This conference the day after.
The Obama fundraiser at Harvey Weinstein.
I said Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Tommy Hilfiger in the audience there.
And I just want to reiterate that I've offered again and meet the president and have not heard from him.
All right, the IRS hearings today, the ISA committee.
Folks, I, you know, yesterday after the Apple tax hearings at the Senate, I said, this is all just a game.
And I think this thing that happened this morning with Lois Lerner showing up, ISA basically let her get away with everything.
She's she's gone.
There's nothing I I looked clueless.
Like didn't know what was going on, didn't know how to deal with this.
I have details coming up.
Gotta sit tight.
Don't go away.
Greetings, my friends, and welcome back.
America's real anchorman, Rush Limbaugh behind the Golden EIB network.
By the way, I I have a I have a question.
You know, I understand it.
It's all well and good, people being concerned about the uh the the administration.
Targeting the associated press and the administration targeting James Rosen, and now we've learned his parents.
But look, I'm a member of the media.
I'm America's anchorman.
Where is the outrage trying to suppress me?
This administration's been trying to suppress me long before they started going after the AP.
And long before they started going after Fox News, and long before they started going after James Rosen.
I'm a member of the media.
I'm America's anchor man.
I'm as much a member of the media as anybody else is.
And they've been targeting me.
They have been trying to suppress me.
I mean Clinton trying to blame me for the Oklahoma City bombing and a couple of other things, Obama warning people two weeks into office in the House not to talk to me or listen to me.
That's not how things get done.
They've been targeting me, and like I when I when I a few minutes ago, folks, when I thanked you for making their efforts futile.
Because you really are the reasons why they fail.
They can't break the bond that exists here between you and me.
Again, you'll I'm never going to be able to tell you adequately how much I cherish and appreciate that.
You people out there just the best.
We just had our two-day sweepstakes, two if by tea, nearly a record.
We've sold out of the tumblers.
They're gone.
The you know, rush revere on one side and the revered rush on the other.
So Catherine and I are going to be calling the uh the winner.
We can't wait to do that.
Near record here.
You all are just fabulous.
But it doesn't mean they're going to not keep trying.
And they are, but but why is there no concern over the effort to suppress me?
You know why?
Well, Rush can handle it.
He doesn't need anybody defend himself.
Okay, let me tell you what happened today at the IRS hearings.
Lois Lerner, who ran the whole kitten caboodle and was, by the way, uh the first time I had a close-up look at her.
This is an angry woman.
I you have to be very careful uh in making judgments about people based on physical appearance, although I've gotten really good at it.
I mean I can I can spot people out there, and I can I can tell you who the libs are pretty much by just what I see.
But in this case, I already know that she is.
I already know that she's a I know that she is in the same mode as Barack Obama, and I know this is a woman who's angry.
This is the woman who was demanding to know the content of prayers of Tea Party groups that were applying for tax exempt status.
This is the woman who in a deposition with Oliver North was demanding to know what Pat Robertson said in a prayer about him.
This is a woman obsessed with the Christian right.
Lois Lerner.
This is a woman obsessed with religious people.
And by that I mean she is afraid of them.
Angry at them.
They are an enemy.
And it obviously true now, based on what we know.
This woman is the woman who said she didn't take the Fifth Amendment yesterday.
She was not going to answer any questions.
And that caused a lot of people on the left to get very frightened.
In fact, we've got somebody's coming up.
People on the left, media people really, really worried this IRS scandal is going to really, really amount to something bad for Obama.
Every day there's a new bit of information.
Every day there's a new denial from the White House.
Every day there's a new really sorry excuse for why Obama didn't know about it.
And the media is getting very, very weird.
All of this is starting to sound very flimsy.
And now you've got one of the head honchos up there claiming and taking the Fifth Amendment, saying, I don't want to answer this because I could incriminate myself.
That right there implies criminal activity here.
The regime has been doing everything it can.
This is just, you know, some out-of-control rogue employees in the Cincinnati office, then it moved in the Washington office.
But they've been doing everything they can to downplay the political aspects of this in terms of the partisanship.
So this Lois Lerner babe shows up today, and I'm telling she is sitting there angry.
Uh it is it is obvious this woman is loaded for bear in a partisan political sense.
She shows up, I'm watching, and she makes a statement.
And in her statement, she denies everything and then takes the fifth.
So she's not going to answer anything.
And Daryl Issa, the committee chairman basically says, well, okay, that's that's that then.
And Trey Gowdy, Congressman South Carolina says, whoa, whoa, wait a minute here.
I agree with the ranking Democrat in this committee, Elijah Cummings.
This is like a courtroom.
She can't come in here and offer a statement and then issue a denial and then take the fifth, Mr. Chairman.
She's already testified.
So she has waived her Fifth Amendment privilege because she testified.
And Isa turned off his microphone and consulted counsel, came back and asked her two more questions.
And she gave a same answer.
I tell you, I'm not answering anything, guys.
I'm not going to say anything.
I'm not going to answer one question you asked me about this.
And Isa excuses her.
And she and her lawyers get up and leave.
I'm like everybody else watching this.
Well, they're what the hell just happened here.
We just let a witness go.
So I'm I'm waiting for some reaction to legal beagle friends of mine.
I haven't heard back from any of them that I asked, but I want to know if Trey Gowdy's right.
I want to know if he's got a point.
Lois Lerner shows up, she makes a statement, and then she issues her denial, and then inserts or invokes her Fifth Amendment right, which she's clearly free to do, but she's afraid it might incriminate her criminally.
So the media is all concerned about this.
They really are.
This is the worst thing that could have happened to the regime, they're saying the optics of this.
But there aren't any optics.
ISA should have kept her there all afternoon and asked her a hundred questions and made her invoke the fifth on every one of them.
That's how the Democrats would do it.
There should be some discussion on whether or not she can show up and make a statement and issue a denial, and then invoke the fifth and get out of everything, get out of answering questions.
Growth said, You it can't happen.
She's got to sit here and answer our question.
By the way, the place erupted in applause when he said that.
Let me play you the audio sound bites of this.
We'll start here with uh Lois Lerner herself.
She sits down, she declares her innocence and then clams up.
I have not done anything wrong.
I have not broken any laws.
I have not violated any IRS rules or regulations, and I have not provided false information to this or any other congressional committee.
And while I would very much like to answer the committee's questions today, I've been advised by my counsel to assert my constitutional right not to testify or answer questions related to the subject matter of this hearing.
And she continued.
After very careful consideration, I've decided to follow my counsel's advice and not testify or answer any of the questions today.
Because I'm asserting my right not to testify, I know that some people will assume that I've done something wrong.
I have not.
One of the basic functions of the Fifth Amendment is to protect innocent individuals, and that is the protection I'm invoking today.
Right.
Well, this administration seems to not care about any amendment, but the fifth.
Second amendment, the hell with that.
First amendment, the hell with that.
Fourth Amendment, hell with that.
Third Amendment, don't even know what it is.
Fifth Amendment, though, that one really counts.
Fifth Amendment, that's the big one.
That's what we at the Obama regime believe in, because then there's a Fifth Amendment that allows us to tell you to go to hell that we didn't do anything.
Trey Gowdy from South Carolina, after Lerner's remarks you just heard, said this.
Mr. Issa, Mr. Cummings just said we should run this like a courtroom, and I agree with him.
She just testified.
She just waived her Fifth Amendment right to privilege.
You don't get to tell your side of the story and then not be subjected to cross-examination.
That's not the way it works.
She waived her right to Fifth Amendment privilege by issuing an opening statement.
She ought to stand here and answer our questions.
And I have to tell you that.
This is highly inconsistent.
She shows up, she makes a statement.
She asserted her innocence.
She denied doing anything and doing anything wrong.
And then says, you.
I'm not answering any questions.
And ISA let her go.
He asked her a couple of more he seemed confused, turned off the mic, consulted his counsel behind him, and then came back and asked a couple more questions and excused her.
Because she said a couple of more times, you can ask me all day long, I'm not going to tell you anything.
Can you do that?
Can you show up and testify and assert that you didn't do it and then invoke?
I think, as I said, ISA should have kept her there, and he should have asked her a hundred questions and made her deny and invoke the fifth on every one.
The fact that he didn't, folks, this is I'm I'm sorry, this is what makes me think all this is sometimes just a game with the Washington ruling class circling the wagons around each other and protecting themselves, but at the same time knowing that that we out here have have some expectations.
So it's like the Apple hearings yesterday.
Okay.
So Apple, there's a wink and a nod.
You guys show up and the Democrats here are gonna pontificate and rip you to shreds, but they're gonna score some points with their base.
You're a big evil corporation, you're not paying your fair share.
We'll get a Democrats' chance to say so.
And then um and then we'll have somebody up here defend you, and you guys say what you want to say, then you head on back to Cupertino, wink, nod, and the peasants have their circus, get to watch their hearing, and everybody gets what they want, and there's no change after the hearing's over and everything's hunky-dory, it may as well never happen.
Now, what do we have here?
We have this big buildup.
Okay, this baby's gonna take the Fifth Amendment.
She can talk about how it asserts innocence all she wants.
That's not how it's interpreted.
You take the fifth, that's apparently obvious to everybody, you're trying to hide something, and you clearly don't want to testify against yourself.
You don't want to give anybody any goods on you.
If if you're being charged of something, you prove it.
I'm not helping you.
That's what the Fifth Amendment's all about.
Fine.
I just think if we're serious about this, she wouldn't be excused after two or three questions.
She's gone now.
How do you bring her back?
And on a related matter, where is Sarah Ingram?
Why isn't she up there before this committee?
Sarah Ingram is the Obama IRS official who is being promoted from this scandal to overseeing Obamacare from the IRS.
She's not an innocent little bystander in all of this either.
Now maybe she's on the witness list, and maybe they're gonna call her up there, but I haven't seen so.
So after Trey Gowdy made his remarks, Lois Lerner was asked two more questions by ISA.
Here's how that went.
I will not answer any questions or testify today.
Miss Lerner, would you be willing to answer questions specifically related to the earlier statements made under oath before this committee?
I declined to answer that question for the reasons I've already given.
For this reason I have no choice but to excuse the witness, subject to recall after we seek specific counsel on the questions of whether or not the constitutional right of the Fifth Amendment has been properly waived.
Okay, so he's gonna look into it.
We're gonna find out, okay, we're gonna make sure here.
And if we find out that she has blown it, then he reserves the right to recall her.
Fine.
I still, this is just me.
You know, but I'm a warrior.
And I would have kept her there.
And I would have kept making her invoke the fifth.
What do you have against conservatives?
Why did you think it was okay to deny them tax exempt status when every liberal group at the same time was being granted it?
I'm not gonna answer that, sir.
Why did you find it necessary to probe into why ever these religious Tea Party groups were praying about?
I'm not gonna answer that, sir.
It's none of your business, and I'm not gonna invoke a Fifth Amendment here, and I'm gonna tell you anything.
Why were you taking information that you were gleaning from these Tea Party applications and then sharing it with a Democrat media group called ProPublica?
I'm not answering anything you asked me, Congress.
You can ask me all that I'm not answering it.
And just keep asking the questions.
And here's why.
I want you to listen to John Harwood CNBC that used to be with the Wall Street Journal.
This is last night, before all this happened, this is CNBC's closing bell.
John Harwood, just so you know, is an in-the-tanker for Obama.
It's an MSNBC, CNBC, in-the-tank for Obama.
This is probably the worst possible outcome from the White House point of view, because uh the inspector general had said he did not see evidence of criminality in this scandal, but when she stands there, takes the fifth and says, uh, to protect myself against self-incrimination, I'm not going to answer your question.
That is the last thing the White House wants to see on television tomorrow.
What do you mean the last thing they want to see?
They're the ones orchestrating this.
The White House doesn't think anything is gonna happen with all this.
This is just the storm that they're gonna have to weather.
But they ultimately don't think that anything here is gonna happen.
Targeted by the Democrat Party for suppression since 1992, Rush Limboy in the EIB network.
Here is Shirley in Shelby, Ohio, as we grab our first phone call of the day.
Great to have you, Shirley.
Hi.
Rush, your majesty, this is such an honor.
Uh I I think you've been anointed by the New York Times as the King, the Lord, the Emperor of the United States.
I don't I'm almost speechless.
You are referring to the news in the New York Times today that the media was unable to report on anything else.
Yes.
The week of the Sandra Flux story.
Well, you have more influence than the President.
What's he doing there?
You should be in his place.
You've got more influence.
It is amazing.
It's amazing.
It is amazing.
He tells everybody that he can't get anything done because of me.
Yeah, I know.
The New York Times says the media can't get anything done because of me.
Well, it's something.
They're declaring you the most influential emperor in the United States.
Well, you know, in all four corners of the world, I am a House of the United States.
Well, yeah, let's go there.
Let's go there.
Listen, I'm almost eighty-five, and I've seen them all.
And this really oh boy, this puts the ice on the cake.
You're eighty-five.
You don't sound you don't sound eighty-five.
I'm eighty-five.
My sister's eighty-eight, and we listen to you all the time.
That's just amazing.
You make my day.
So you really that's how you're interpreting this New York Times story.
Oh, sure.
What else would it be?
Well, you've been there, you've seen a lot of things.
You've no doubt done it all.
And uh the same thing's coming over here, so what the hell?
Oh, excuse me, I shouldn't have said that.
No, no, no.
That's fine.
That's fine.
It's clear.
Like I said, folks, I have been targeted for suppression, or worse, since at least 1992, and actually before that.
But I mean, I'm a member of the media.
They're going after Fox, they're going up to James Rosen, James Rosen's parents are going after William Loganess at Fox or going after A.P., but they been going after me long before then.
I'm a member of the media, too.
I'm such a big part of the media here that I alone single-handedly seem to have the ability to distract the media in such a way that they don't notice anything else when I'm in the news.
By the way, on this Lois Lerner business, folks, about the Fifth Amendment.
The Fifth Amendment is not meant to be uh used as a way to get out of answering questions.
The Fifth Amendment is clearly there to ensure that you don't have to testify against yourself.
In a criminal matter, you are innocent until proven guilty, and they who charge you have to prove it.
You do not have to help them.
You do not have to confess, you do not have to admit it, you don't have to help them.
That's what the Fifth Amendment is.
The Fifth Amendment basically you're charging me, then you prove it.
I'm not going to incriminate myself.
But it's not meant to be used as a way of getting out of answering questions.
Particularly when you say first, I haven't done anything wrong.
I have not participated in any criminal activity, I haven't done anything wrong.
Well, then why are you invoking the fifth?
Just so you have to answer questions, sorry, it doesn't work that way.
I hope, I really hope that that ISA does consult some legal counsel on this and realize here that he's got to get her back in there.
That this this is she can't.
No witness can.
Well, a witness can if they're if somebody's willing to let them get away with it.
But that's the ultimate point.
Anyway, I gotta take a break again because of the constraints of time.
Thank you, Shirley, so much.
I appreciate it.
We'll be back.
Folks, sit tight.
We've got to take a break here at the top of the hour.
Washington Post poll.
Obama approval unaffected.
President more focused than Republicans on issues people care about.
