Time Text
Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 247 podcast.
What a shock.
What an absolute shock, ladies and gentlemen.
It looks like no other news network, not even cable news, is covering the Benghazi hearings except for Fox News.
We live in an upside down world, ladies and gentlemen, where most everybody is going to ignore what happens here in these hearings, and when it's over, they're going to say, what's the big deal anyway?
Fox News has joined now.
They have got uh uh Gregory Hicks is not so Fox did join it.
Uh CNN, CNN did join it, uh, and which is I guess it makes some kind of sense because Jacob Tapper has been front and center on this uh on many occasions.
Anyway, greetings, folks.
Ilrushbow here, having more fun a human being should be allowed to have doing when I was born to do from right here behind the golden EIB microphone, serving humanity.
Great to have you here.
Telephone number 800-282-2882.
The email address L Rushbow at EIB net.com.
I know it's a minor player, but it does have an audience.
Salon magazine, a web magazine, salon.com.
They have a story by a guy who actually is a paid hack from Think Progress, which is a think tank run by John Podesta, Center for American Progress, whatever it is, is he's disguised as a as a journalist and reporter over at Salon.
And he said that nothing's gonna happen here.
Nothing at all is gonna happen because these hearings can't possibly have any credibility since Fox is the only network that's paying the attention to it.
That in fact Fox has already brought discredit to the witnesses because their reporting on this has been so terrible.
Fox's reporting on Benghazi has been so terrible that the witnesses are already discredited.
Except for some reason, neither Salon nor anybody else can point to a single significant point about Benghazi that Fox has gotten wrong.
On the contrary, just about all we know about Benghazi comes from Fox News or Cheryl Atkison at CBS.
But let me make a prediction here.
When these hearings are over, no matter what's revealed about Benghazi, the mainstream media is all gonna say, what difference is it now?
There's no nothing to see here.
This isn't Watergate, and it isn't Watergate.
Nobody died in Watergate.
Four people died in Benghazi.
Nobody died in Watergate.
Now, what we've done, we want you, of course, to be as informed on this as is possible.
The Limbaugh Letter, the most widely read political newsletter in America today, published in our November issue last year, a timeline of all that happened in Libya and Benghazi.
And it uh it prints out in four-color art to three pages.
It was pages 11, 12, and 13 from our issue.
And what we've done, we've taken this timeline and we have separated it, made it a single file, and we've put it at both our main webpage, Rush Limbaugh.com, and also over on our Facebook.
And I think we even uh tweeted it over there in the cesspool of Twitter.
We tweeted a link to it.
And it's entitled, What Did Obama Know and When Did He Know It?
And it is the most comprehensive timeline for Benghazi and Libya that exists, and it's available to you free.
We're not selling this.
It's not tied to a subscription to anything.
You just go to Rush Limbaugh.com and look at it, download it if you want.
Same thing at our Facebook page.
And you can have it For posterity.
Just wanted to know that you uh wanted you to know that we have made it available to one and all so that they can follow this if you uh happen to be interested.
The Situation Room in the Nerve Center.
It's the it is the government's nerve center for intelligence and crisis support.
Now, by the way, these hearings are gonna have three parts.
They're going to look at what was going on before the attack.
They are going to look at what happened during the attack, and the third phase will what will be what happened afterwards.
Before it was a series of bad decisions.
During it was a series of blunders.
The after this is all over as troubling as anything.
The lengths that they went to, from the spin to the bottomless pit to the blackout on eyewitnesses, still don't know their names, is the stuff that turns paranoids into profits.
I mean, the cover-up, the attempted ways in which this was swept under the rug.
All of it's fascinating.
And literally, it's hard to separate it out before, during and after, but the during and the after is the real problematic area here.
Now the situation room is the government's nerve center for intelligence and crisis support deep down under the White House, 5,000 square feet.
It has the most sophisticated high-tech.
It has sensors to prevent bugging.
It has the ability to monitor situations anywhere in the world.
It has seating that accommodate the National Security Agency.
Homeland Security, the White House chief of staff, the official White House photographer.
On May the 2nd, 2011, 15 officials in the White House photographer watched the killing of Osama bin Laden in the Situation Room on September 11th, 2012.
No one was there.
Apparently.
The Situation Room was not used.
Nobody went there, apparently, evidently, where four Americans were killed.
You know, the old saying is that success has a thousand fathers and failure is an orphan.
So we will see what what happens here.
I've got a whole series of sound bites that are related to Benghazi.
Flashbacks and current.
We're also rolling on the testimony today, although much of it we retreated to.
Much of it has already been heard or at least previewed.
Now it's taking place for real.
Elijah Cummings, a Democrat, former chairman of Congressional Black Caucasians, tried to preempt the whole thing by listing the charges and then refuting everything.
Before the which is, I mean, it's standard.
The Democrats are going to treat this as a partisan political issue, and they are going to circle the wagons around everybody in the administration and the State Department to protect Hillary, because that's what the objective here is, of course, to protect Hillary.
And of course, the President of the United States.
So we'll have those sound bites coming up.
Also, all of the polling leading up to the special election, South Carolina won last night.
Elizabeth Colbert Bush versus Mark Sanford.
All the polling, particularly the polling of public policy, polling head of a dead heat.
The Democrats were going to take the seat.
And it was going to be a precursor to the Democrats winning everything in 2014 and having total one-party rule in America.
Except it didn't happen.
Mark Sandford won in a land slide over Elizabeth Colbert Bush.
So I guess she can go back to wherever the hell she came from.
Well, that's what Dick Harpotian said.
Dick Harpulian is a trial lawyer.
He's the former head of the Democrat committee in South Carolina.
And he said about Nikki Haley, and he's since clarified his remarks, but he said, I just wish the governor should come, she'd go back to wherever the hell she came from.
And people, are you making a racist comment?
Because of course she is the daughter of Sikh parents, S I K H for those of you in real linda.
And Harpootli has said, no, no, no, no, no, no.
No, no.
I was simply talking about going back to the dress shop.
Or some such thing.
So the Democrats are forced.
Well, I don't know, forced, but the Democrats thus think they have a silver lining in this election.
This election means the resurrection of Anthony Wiener.
If Mark Sanford can resurrect his political career from the ashes of the Appalachian Trail walk that didn't happen.
If Mark Sanford can come back, then so can Anthony Wiener.
And that is how the Democrats are reading this.
In fact, the Democrats are trying to tell the Republicans, you know what, you guys actually lost.
You didn't win anything here because all this means is that Wiener comes back now.
All this means is that any of our reprobates can win and can come back.
Well, the dirty little secret is that all of their reprobates do come back.
All of their reprobates never go away in the first place.
All their reprobates get launched at the top of the stature ladder.
That's just the way they do things.
Okay, quick time out, my friends.
L. Rushball will be back, and I'm going to try to put these sound bites in some semblance of order, and we'll do that on the Benghazi stuff.
We're loaded today.
We got all kinds of uh for example.
Readers digest.
The 100 most trusted people in America, poll, surveyed 1,009 people between January 24th and January 29th.
Who is the most trusted man in America?
Want to take a stab at it?
I want to take a wild guess.
I'll give you a little hint.
Clarence Thomas is number 88.
It's Tom Hanks.
Tom Hanks, who only utters words written by others while in disguise.
An actress nerdly, not a comedian.
Tom Hanks, followed by Are You Ready?
Sandra Bullock.
The number three most trusted American Denzel Washington.
The number four most trusted American, Merrill Streep.
So the top three most trusted Americans in the Reader's Digest poll are actors.
The number four most trusted person in America is Maya Angelou.
Barack Obama is number sixty five.
Clint Eastwood is number thirteen.
And the politico is outraged at this.
The politico is outraged that Eastwood is thirteen and Obama is sixty-five.
They're not outraged that the top three most respected Americans are actors.
They just can't believe that Eastwood ranks that much higher than Obama.
Obama is let's see where's Obama again is 65.
Much hell, my bell Obama is at number 19.
Madam Albright, the former Secretary of State, number 23, former President Jimmy Carter, number 24, Colin Powell, 32.
Hillary Clinton, 51.
Top five spots again, Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Denzel, Washington, Merrill Streep, and Maya Angelou.
The top four, all utter words written for them by other people while in disguise.
Can you say low information voter?
Hi, how are you?
Welcome back, Rush Lindborough.
Great to have you.
Middle of the week, Wednesday, fastest weekend media.
And we are here on the cutting edge of societal evolution.
Okay.
Only one Republican made the Reader's Nigel.
Folks, I don't know who publishes it now.
Well, I remember when I started the program in 1988, Readers Digest was.
I mean, they were after me to write things, be interviewed for it.
I mean, it was a it was a a very conservative family oriented publication.
I don't know who owns it now.
But there's only one Republican in the most trusted Americans list of 100 people, and it is Condoleezza Rice.
And she is at number 68.
There is only one Fox News personality on the top 100 trusted Americans list in a reader's digest, and it is Shepard Smith who clocks in at 100.
Katie Korick is at number 37.
Whoopi Goldberg at number 46, Matt Wauer at 87.
Maureen Dowd of the New York Times is number 98.
Paul Krugman of the New York Times is 99.
Noam Chomsky is number 20.
Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg is 36.
Stephen Breyer, 43.
Those are Supreme Court Justices.
John Roberts, the Chief Justice of number 44.
Ben Affleck is at number 45.
Alex Trebbeck.
Who?
Ben Affleck made it number 45.
Alex Trebek made it.
Julia Roberts made it.
Melinda Gates and Bill Gates.
Did you hear what Bill Gates said the other day?
He said nobody likes the iPad.
it doesn't have a keyboard.
See, what people want is what Microsoft is selling, It was the most amazing.
Nobody, yeah, people have their iPads, they don't like them.
I mean, that is utter total.
I mean, Windows 8 is an absolute disaster facing a recall, practically.
Bill Gates actually said, yeah, people have their iPads, so they don't really like them.
What they really wish they had was a Microsoft surface.
To which people, what?
He shows up on this list.
Sandra Bullock, of course, the blind side.
Denzel Washington played an alcoholic pilot in a movie.
Meryl Streep.
What are we doing to our children?
Actually, she probably on there for the uh for the uh devil wears Prada.
Prada, how do you pronounce Prada?
Anyway, that's you you you may laugh, folks, but I'm telling you, this list will tell you more about what's going on in America than the Benghazi hearings.
Or anything else in the news.
I kid you not.
Now I've got these sound bites here from Benghazi.
I've got two sets.
I've got a series of flashbacks of all the regime figures blaming the video, and of Hillary and others dismissing the importance of Benghazi.
Uh, and of the Washington establishment protecting Hillary at uh hearings back in January.
And then I have Pat Smith, who's the mother of one of those killed in Benghazi.
And she was on CNN last night, blaming Hillary.
So we've got that.
We got that same woman from back in October of 2012 on CNN, General Thomas McInerney.
Last night on Lou Dobbs on the Fox Business Network saying there's only one person who can order the military to stand down, and that's Obama, the president.
So we have all that, and uh we've got the immigration bill, and Ted Cruz, who has offered an amendment to the education bill.
It's right out, it's right off of this program.
He's okay, if they all become citizens, they can never vote.
All 11 million, never vote.
Readers' digest was sold in 2007 to a private equity firm.
Here are the details on Ted Cruz.
Say a story from U.S. News and World Report.
Ted Cruz, newly elected Republican with a penchant for making headlines.
Did you know that about Ted Cruz?
Yeah, he has a penchant for making headlines.
That that's that's what they say about Ted Cruz.
He's really a great, great senator.
He makes a lot of headlines.
Anyway, Senator Cruz filed an amendment that would bar undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States from ever earning citizenship, meaning they could never vote.
There are an estimated 11 million people living in the country illegally.
The bipartisan immigration reform measure would create a pathway to citizenship over the course of 13 years by requiring those people to pay penalties and back taxes as well as learn English.
Conservatives opposed to reform, decry the path is amnesty, but the Democrats say they'll not support reform that doesn't cope with the immigrants already living in the U.S. So Cruz, in addition to filing amendments that he says would strengthen border security measures, wants to look that these 11 mil, whatever we're going to do, they will never be granted citizenship.
You can do whatever you want with them, but they'll never be granted.
Now, that's similar to a proposal that we made.
Okay, we'll support Amnesty on this program with one proviso, and that is that everybody granted amnesty can't vote for 25 years.
Yes.
See, I'm accused of purity and my purity, meaning standing fast to my principles, that is leading to Republicans losing elections.
Me and my purity and your purity, all of us standing firm on principle, means that Republicans can't win elections until we punt our principles.
And so just illustrate the point.
Okay, I'll support Amnesty, but they can't vote for 25 years.
And let's just gauge the reaction that I guarantee the people for Amnesty will never go for it that way.
What's the point, Mr. Lumbo?
The point is to prove it.
Nobody cares about him coming out from the shadows, and nobody cares about him being treated with dignity, and nobody cares about any of that.
They're looked at as voters.
And if we make everything else in immigration possible except they can't vote, then what happens to the support for it?
It would all plummet and fall apart.
Oh, this Reader's Digest poll, before we get to the Benghazi hearings, because we're rolling on them.
And what I really want to do, in addition to some of the flashback things that we have, as there are earth-shattering sound bites of testimony happening, we'll roll on it, and as those come in, we'll play them for you.
That probably will end up being the focus.
But we will look back and do some of the flashbacks just to remind you.
But this Reader's Digest poll, This poll of the 100 most respected Americans, I'm I'm here to tell you the White House, thrilled by polls like this.
The Democrat Party, and I I mean this, bottom of my heart, Democrat Party revels in any news like this that portrays the ignorance and the and the unseriousness of the American people.
That is music to their ears.
Because you have a 100 most respected Americans that have top four are actors, and number five is Maya Angelou.
What that means to the White House, for example, is that they can get away with talking about the rapid rise in gun violence, even though gun violence is plummeting.
You want to hear some shocking news?
Los Angeles Times.
Gun crime has plunged in the United States since its peak in the middle of the 1990s, including gun killings, assaults, robberies, and other crimes, two new studies of government data indicate this.
Yet few Americans are aware of the dramatic drop, and more than half Americans believe that gun crime has risen, according to a newly released survey by the Pew Research Center.
Now, would it be I mean, here's the upshot of this.
Gun crime has plummeted, folks.
Crimes taking place outside of Chicago, gun crime is way down from its peak in the 1990s, but most Americans think it's way up.
I wonder how that happens.
What would explain that?
Well, I'll tell you, any time the general public has a misapprehension about something, it's the drive-by media's fault.
There is no question.
In the old days it was usually incompetence.
Now it's just outright bias.
Or non-reporting or misreporting for the purposes of pushing the agenda of the Democrat Party.
Would it be unfair to say that the president and his media suck-ups have misled the American people about gun crimes in an effort to pass gun control laws?
Yep, I think it'd be fair to say that.
In the last 20 years, has the gun murder rate gone up or down in the U.S.?
Here are the numbers.
The number of gun killings dropped 39% between 1993 and 2011, according to the Bureau of Justice statistics.
Gun crimes that were not fatal fell by 69%.
So gun killings down 39%.
Gun crimes unfatal, 69%.
Now, if you thought that the gun murder rate had increased, check and see if you fit a pattern that was detected in this study.
Are you ready?
Women, people of color, and the elderly were more likely to believe that gun crime was up than men, younger adults, or white people.
Democrats more likely to believe gun crime is up than Republicans.
That's how you analyze that.
Women, people of color, the elderly, more likely to believe gun crime was up than men, younger adults, or white people.
Basically, the Democrats and liberals think we're going through the roof with gun crime, and the Republicans slash conservatives don't.
So in the middle of this anomaly, actual crimes and killings with guns plummeting the regime wants to weaken the Second Amendment.
The regime wants new and more restrictive gun laws.
Remember, never let an imagined crisis go to waste.
So here we have A totally made up crisis.
In fact, I'll bet it's kind of like global warming.
If you were to take this data that comes from the government and the Pew Research Center, you take this out on the street to your average low information voter, and you tell them, do you realize that gun crime, the gun killings are down nearly 40% since 1993?
Oh, no way, man.
No way.
I saw what happened.
I saw what happened to Connecticut, man.
No way.
And I saw what happened in Aurora.
You can you can tell me you're lying, man.
Ain't no way.
That's propaganda.
Would you believe I told you that that crimes committed with the guns where nobody died were down 70%?
No way, man, no way.
I see it on TV.
It's just the opposite.
Everybody knows.
We got to do something about guns because gun crime is going through the roof.
Really?
It isn't.
It really isn't.
But you think that it I see it on TV.
And along comes the regime to capitalize on something that is not happening.
To further weaken the Second Amendment, pass more restrictive gun control laws.
Even if there's no need.
Quick soundbite.
This number uh 20.
Derek 28, Eric Nordstrom, this is this morning at the Benghazi hearings.
A portion of his opening remarks.
What happened prior, during, and after the attack matter.
It matters to me personally.
And it matters to my colleagues.
To my colleagues at the Department of State.
It matters to the American public for whom we serve.
And most importantly.
Excuse me.
It matters to the friends and family of Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Glenn Doherty, and Tyrone Woods, who were murdered on September 11th, 2012.
That's the response to Mrs. Clinton saying, What difference does it make?
What difference it makes now?
Eric Nordstrom, former regional security officer in Libya.
I'm here.
That's who he is.
Eric Nordstrom, it matters.
To my colleagues.
He was breaking out, breaking down.
He was crying.
He was sipping water.
He was choking up here.
It matters to the friends and family of Ambassador Stephen, Sean Smith, Glenn Doherty, Tyrone Woods, who were murdered on September 11th.
What difference does it make now anyway, though?
Why didn't we care?
And we're back.
El Rushball, the excellence in broadcasting network.
Now watch a little bit of the hearings during the break.
Okay.
It is, at least to me, riveting.
Devating testimony.
It's been a long time since I've seen anything like this.
Because this is genuine.
This is not scripted, made up with a bunch of supposed victims being paraded in front of the cameras.
some imaginary problem the Democrats have a magic fix for.
You listen to these people so far that are testifying.
I mean, it makes that video story.
I mean, I just can't tell you how insulted I was and really viscerally angry when I kept hearing Obama and Hillary talking about that video.
And I I remember at the memorial service when the bodies of the dead arrived back at Andrews Air Force Base or Dover, wherever it was, and flag draped coffins were there, and Obama and Hillary and Hillary and Obama promising the families that we're going to get the guy that did this video.
And inside, I was fuming telling these people we're going to get the video, we're going to get the guy that did this video.
The video had nothing to do With it when you listen to the testimony so far.
Makes that video story even more despicable than it was.
Then you realize the media doesn't even care about these people.
Or their story.
The media is already trying to impugn these people and their testimony.
Salon.com is suggesting that these people who are testifying, these former State Department, they're not credible because Fox News has been the network to report what they're saying, doing, and thinking.
And so since Fox News has been talking about them, they don't have any credibility.
And that guy is not alone.
Alex something or other at Salon.
I don't care who the last name is.
He doesn't occupy any ground by himself.
He probably is voicing the thinking of a lot of people in the media who don't care about this.
This is just something that has to be endured when it's over, they'll say, What's the big deal?
It happened so long ago.
But here we are, months and months later.
We have career diplomats choking up, retelling a story that was of no interest to their commander-in-chief.
No interest to the Secretary of State, who did nothing to help these people.
In fact, the next day the commander-in-chief gets up after being out of touch for five or seven hours, nobody knew where he was, and he jets off to Las Vegas.
These are people that battled terrorists on the battlefield at our consulate.
They got nothing from the guy who put them in harm's way.
And now they're up telling the story.
And their testimony so far, unfiltered, uninterrupted, it's powerful, it's devastating, it's tragic.
Then the Democrats get hold of it after they finish and do their best to discount it, discredit it.
But after watching a little bit of this, I understand why some Democrats are worried about this.
If the media picked up on this and actually made this a cause like they did at Watergate, it would be a whole different dynamic.
And I can't forget.
Hillary telling those people in that hangar, wherever it was, Dover, Andrews Air Force Base when the bodies came back, the flag draped coffins, we'll get the guy who did that video.
Straight face.
Lying to them about why their family members died.
We'll get the guy in the video.
We live in an upside-down world, folks.
We really do.
Let me grab a quick call.
Angie Wichita, Kansas.
Hi, Angie.
Thank you for calling.
Great to have you here.
Hello.
Hello.
It is an honor to speak with you.
Thank you very much.
And now I'm gonna forget that I'm speaking to you, so I won't get nervous.
Just think of me as your husband.
Um, I I feel bad coming up against this Benghazi thing, talking about reader side death, but you know, I was sitting here thinking what a contrast it is, because what is real is not real.
It's all connected.
Exactly.
And what is what is not real to the uh average American is made real by saying they trust Tom Hanks.
Uh who is he?
I I don't know.
So now remember there's another aspect of this.
We are assuming readers digest is telling us the truth about it.
You could probably find a thousand people that think Tom Hanks the coolest guy in the country.
Where would you have to go to do that?
I don't know.
But who I mean, this is we're we're accepting it on faith.
The readers digest telling us that this is this thousand people is a perfect cross section.
Well, I I read that article, and reader's diagnosis actually been a part of my life for the last, I don't know, since I could read probably.
I've always enjoyed reading it.
I Grew up reading it.
My parents subscribed to it.
And when I was able to, you know, do that sort of thing, I subscribe to it as well.
My children read it.
They love it.
I have to go look for it.
It's not the same in their rooms.
A private equity group bought it in 2007, and it's different now.
Thanks for the call.
We'll be right back, folks.
Don't go away.
So Hillary Clinton goes to Charles Woods, the father of Tyrone Woods, killed at Benghazi.
And after apologizing, Woods said that Hillary told him that the United States would make sure that the person who made that film is arrested and prosecuted.
They'd make sure that the guy who did the video was taken care of.
