Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
Hiya, folks.
You know, the drive-bys have really been out of shape today.
Do you know that the state-controlled media is fit to be tied?
I have not seen them angrier in the last five years over anything the regime has done than they are angry now.
And you know why?
Well, it's because Obama invited Tiger Woods to come and play golf with him at the Floridian yesterday, and they didn't let the press in.
No photos.
They didn't let them in the club.
They did not let them in the complex.
They kept a pool reporter outside the gate.
But somehow, Tim Roosefort from Golf Digest was in there.
And Tim Roosefort was tweeting.
That's how we know that Tiger Woods played golf with Obama.
And nobody knows, at least I haven't seen, maybe somebody does now.
Nobody knows whether Roosefort was invited in by the White House or whether he's a member up there playing or whether he was a guest of a member.
But he was in there.
And of course, Roosefort's a good guy.
I know Tim.
He's a good guy.
But the drive-bys is fit to be tied because a sports journalist knows something they didn't know and they can't get invited.
And what is it?
Ed Henry, who is the head of the White House Correspondent Association, has logged an official complaint with the White House claiming lack of transparency.
Now, one of the I had a bunch of people ask me, Rush, is the press automatically entitled to be where Obama is every moment, even during things like the vacation time?
And I'll tell you what this relates to.
It's the old body watch thing.
There is a unwritten, maybe even be written rule in the media that says they always want a camera on the president in case anything happens.
They want to be able to have a record of it, no matter what it is, falling on your face in a sand trap.
You name it, they want the body watch, and they were denied in this.
They were denied access.
What a complaint from the White House.
The White House Correspondent Association is just the media, and they're complaining to the White House.
I mean, somebody in the White House.
I don't know who they were officially.
They're complaining.
Well, yeah, they're complaining to the people that locked them out.
Who else would you complain to?
What are you going to do?
Call Boris Yeltsin?
Call me?
What is anybody else going to do about it?
Anyway, anyway, folks, it's great to have you here.
Telephone number is 800-282-2882, the email address Elrushbow at EIBnet.com.
And by the way, there are some, and we have the evidence coming up, there are some in the drive-bys who are not happy that Obama invited Tiger while Moochell is half a continent away with the children.
It's a guy's weekend and there's Tiger in there, and there are no cameras.
And so there are some people in the media, particularly over at CNN, very, very worried about this.
Not us here at the EIB.
Never crossed our mind.
I saw a busload of, I was out yesterday on 95.
I was up as far as Jupiter, and I did see a busload of women heading north on 95.
Now, I had no idea where it was going.
It was in the afternoon.
It was after like 3 o'clock.
So, no, no, no, Snerdly.
I'm not leveling any idea.
But I did see a busload of women.
No, Clinton's not in town.
Well, that's a good question.
I don't think Clinton's in town.
Anyway, we have the evidence coming up.
Now, but I want to, before we get to that, I want to offer continuing evidence of my theorem that I put forth last week.
A couple stories here.
Scott Rassmussen, latest poll on Obama approval.
Obama's approval rating is at 54%.
Strongly approve is 33.
Strongly disapprove is 36.
But the total approval, and this is a poll of likely voters, is at 54%, despite the fact that people disagree with the direction of the country, the deficit on employment, gun control, all of that.
Obama's still at a 54% approval.
And up until last week, when I raised the curtain on this mystery, everybody, how can this be?
And here's how it can be: over the weekend, the regime leaked their immigration plan to USA Today.
White House immigration plan offers path to residency.
It's in USA Today.
And to the point of Obama taking no responsibility, look how his immigration plan is released.
He didn't release it.
Obama didn't call a press conference with himself at the podium and making a big deal of announcing of his immigration plan.
There's nothing tying him to this.
This was leaked.
This is IE, it's a mistake.
Somebody said something they shouldn't.
This was leaked out.
This was dribbled out to USA Today.
His chief of staff was on TV pushing it this weekend while Obama's playing golf with Tiger Woods for three days down here.
So this is how Obama gets his immigration plan in the mix without any of his fingerprints on it.
There was not one word of Obama being associated with this immigration plan.
USA Today, this is how the regime announces their big immigration reform plan.
On the other hand, how do our guys do?
They call a press conference.
They get whoever's involved in it.
You had Chuck U. Schumer.
It had Lindsey Gramnesty.
You had who else?
Well, whatever, McCain, they're all up there.
Marco Rubio, Gang of Eight.
They do a press conference.
All of them standing there.
You know it's these guys' plan.
Here comes the White House, not even the Obama plan.
It comes the White House plan leaked over the weekend on USA Today.
This is how Obama is never tied to anything.
This is somebody else's immigration plan.
And what's going to happen now?
Obama, I think, leaves tomorrow.
I think he's in town here all the way through today, maybe tonight.
But he'll go back to Washington and he will complain that Congress has not acted on a balanced approach to budgeting.
They haven't acted on a balanced approach to immigration.
They haven't done anything on the sequestration.
While he's been down here playing golf and hasn't been doing anything, including hiding from the media, he'll get back to town tomorrow and he'll talk about all of these wonderful things that these mysterious people are trying to do and they haven't actually done anything progressive on it.
But his fingerprints are nowhere to be found.
It's kind of like the way Obamacare became his because he did try to sell that.
But Pelosi and Reed or their staff wrote that.
It was in a drawer.
The health care plan has been in somebody's drawer for years, waiting for this golden opportunity moment to present it.
But it's why Obama, you know, remember people were asking back then, how come Obama farmed it out to those guys?
Precisely so that his fingerprints aren't on it.
If it failed, and during the attempt to pass it, he was distant.
He was removed from it in terms of it actually being his.
And now, when you leak your immigration reform plan to USA Today over the weekend, this is how he does it.
This is how he claims no responsibility and takes none.
This thing just happened.
And then now it's out there.
But there's no optic.
There's no picture of Obama.
I mean, this didn't happen on TV.
So as far as the low-information voters are concerned, it didn't happen.
Do you think they're reading USA Today?
Ha!
They may tune in by accident to the Sunday morning shows and they see the chief of staff up there talking about it while Obama's out playing golf.
That's how it happens.
And now the Rasmussen fall, 54% approval rating despite massive disagreement with his agenda.
They don't tie him to the agenda.
They don't tie his agenda to the direction the country's going.
They don't tie his agenda, his policies, to the reality.
Look at the gasoline price.
Gasoline price is up now, over $5 in many parts of the country.
Gasoline prices have risen 32 straight days.
The gasoline price is what?
What did I see?
86% higher today than when Obama was emaculated.
And it hasn't attached to him.
He got nothing to do with this.
This is big oil doing this.
This is big oil or some grand wizard behind the curtain pulling the levers on gas prices.
Obama doing everything he can to stop this.
Obama's doing everything he can to keep gasoline affordable.
He's even proposing electric cars.
He's making sure that we don't pollute the planet and destroy it even more.
He's opposing the Keystone Pipeline, doing everything he can.
And yet, look, these evil, powerful forces in the private sector keep defying him and screwing you and raising the gasoline price.
Well, have you heard anybody?
Let's go back when the gasoline price was rising during the Bush years.
You heard every day people in the media Democrat Party demanding that Bush do something about it.
You hear anybody demanding Obama do anything about this?
Because it's assumed, low-information voters, that he's already trying.
He's just being screwed by these Republicans and the big oil people who won't cooperate with him while he's playing golf for three days with Tiger Woods.
At the Floridian, his entire governing style is centered around the whole concept of plausible deniability.
The Democrats are talking about increasing taxes on big oil, ending the so-called subsidies that they've got.
So the gas price is going up and the oil price is going up, but it's not anything to do with Obama.
It's big oil and maybe Bush.
You know, there's Bush and Cheney, Halliburton, they were involved in oil.
It's probably policies that are held over from those guys.
Don't laugh.
It is the explanation.
Okay, brief timeout.
We're going to come back and you will hear with your very own ears the evidence of discomfiture in the drive-by media with President Obama playing golf with Tiger Woods while Muchel is out of town in Aspen.
Let's start with Audio Summit number one, actually.
I had not made up my mind I wanted to use it, but it's of me back in 2009, December 18th, on this program, shortly after the veil had been lifted on Tiger Woods.
And I was making a point about sports media and how they deify every sports star they cover.
Like this guy in South Africa, this Pistorius guy.
You go back and read some of the profiles of this guy.
He's the guy that runs on prosthetic legs, ended up shooting his girlfriend, murdering her.
You go back and read some of the stuff on this and deify these people.
It's just something that it's part of the formula in sports media.
Every week, for those of you who live in towns with professional sports franchise, you know what I'm talking about.
Every week you'll get up and turn to your sports page and it'll be a feature on some player of some team and it'll just the greatest person on earth, struggles they've overcome in life and all this.
And of course, many of them are reprobates.
It's like the odds are that percentage of the normal population, the non-athletic population, you're going to find a bunch of reprobates.
But the way the sports media treats these guys is that they're just gods, in essence.
And of course, that veil was lifted on Tiger.
Before we get to that, I had a bunch of people email me during the breaker.
Rush.
Come on, you know, Obama is a very loyal and devoted husband.
He doesn't care about women.
Maybe not, but who else was up there?
And that's what the media is concerned about at CNN, which you will hear in more moments.
But first, here's what I said back in 2009, December 18th.
The parallels between Barack Obama and Tiger Woods are stunning.
We don't know if there's rampant sex romps going on with Obama.
We doubt that.
But everything else, they created for us a puff piece image of Obama, starting with his speech at the 2004 Democrat convention.
We don't know who he is.
We don't know anything about the man, other than his years agitating the community in Chicago, the things he's written about in his books.
But there's this image of, we've never had someone like this before.
There's never been a man like this.
He transcends normal people.
Remember all these people gushing over him.
Mark my words.
At some point, the same unmasking that has happened at Tiger Woods will happen to Barack Obama.
Well, it hasn't happened yet.
I predicted that at some point the veil would be lifted on Obama.
And I still say this.
I thought it would have happened by now, but it hasn't yet.
But it has been on Tiger.
And, you know, Tiger created this image along with his sports marketing people and his corporate partner.
They created his image of Mr. Perfect.
Perfect husband, perfect golfer, perfect workout guy, disciplined more than you, devoted, committed, and then, and that was all done in the media.
And then, of course, it all blew up.
And when the media makes you, the media can break you.
And that is going to be true of Obama at some point.
Maybe too late to matter when it does, but it will.
So now we go to CNN.
This morning on starting point, they had a panel discussion.
And the guests were a Democrat strategist named Richard Socurades, National Journal editorial director Ronald Brownstein, and Soledad O'Brien.
And here's how she starts the conversation.
How do we feel about President Obama playing golf at Tiger Woods?
The first lady decided to take the first daughter skiing in Colorado.
She was away.
The president hit the links in Palm City, Florida.
Oh, you see that Soledad, a little nervous here, wants to talk to these other guys, these experts, and think if she's on to something here.
Now, the Democrat strategist theorize that Obama must have overruled the White House staff because the White House staff would have never okayed such a photo, would never have okayed such an event.
His theory is that the White House staff would have told Obama, don't bring Tiger Woods.
This is not the thing to do.
But that Obama overrode them.
The president must have really, really wanted to play golf with Tiger Woods.
I'm sure that nobody on the White House staff thought it was a good idea, and they probably tried to maneuver around it, and that's why they obviously didn't have any pictures, because the staff didn't want pictures.
Is that the moment where the president says to the staff, if you're so smart, how come on, president?
That was Ronald Brownstein trying to imagine what went on.
Well, you notice the assumption here is that the White House staff automatically would know this is not a good thing to do.
The White House staff would automatically agree with the media.
This is not smart.
But Obama overruled him because he's smarter than they are.
They're genuinely worried.
The conversation then continued.
Soledad O'Brien said the administration talks about transparency.
A lot of angry White House reporters, because they wanted to see photos of this outing.
It shows like there's a kind of a new Obama.
This is another side of a new Obama.
He's going to do what he wants, both on the way he conducts himself and also on a lot of policy stuff.
Really shown that there's a new boldness to him, and he doesn't really care what a lot of people think because he's not running for reelection.
Right.
And that was Socarides talking about the Democrat strategist.
He didn't care.
He's not running for reelection, so he doesn't care.
Don't worry about it, Soledad.
But clearly, there is some deep concern out there in the drive-by media over the pairing here and the fact that there was no picture.
Do you think it's that big a deal?
Do you think if there'd be a picture of Obama with Tiger Woods, it would hurt him?
I don't either.
Well, who are we talking about?
Low information?
He's the celebrity of the United States already to these people.
This would have been a big plus.
This would have been a big deal.
Maybe Tiger didn't want the picture.
Who knows?
But I can't imagine that picture hurting Obama.
Not with the people that support him and vote for him.
I mean, I think that picture, they would love it.
That's just me.
We'll be back.
Don't go away.
And here we are, folks, working another three-day weekend Monday.
Rush Limbaugh, the EIB crew from the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
Man, I tell you, I was driving around yesterday, and the traffic out there, like it was on Easter Sunday, which is most people that lived down there, their last day, Easter Sunday, getaway.
The next day, half the people live here leave.
I mean, it was, it was a nightmare to get anywhere yesterday.
Just incredible.
And that's when I realized that once again, I got hoodwinked into realizing this a huge holiday weekend.
And this is, by the way, this weekend, I have been told by people who were involved in it, is the result of lobbying efforts by the ski industry.
The ski industry wanted a three-day weekend in February for their bottom line.
And so they lobbied for President's Day and they got it.
And I was told this by a guy who at one time owned a ski lodge and some slopes.
I think somewhere in Connecticut or Vermont.
I'm not thinking, maybe it was Vermont.
It's special interest holiday.
Because, you know, there was no such thing as President's Day until the ski industry decided they wanted one.
I don't know how long it took to get it, but they did.
Anyway, we're here.
And it's a golden opportunity because thousands of people not working today needing to be entertained, and they are at the right place.
Now, I actually think on this photo, I actually think the White House didn't want anybody knowing that Tiger Woods was there.
And I think CNN, if you listen to these soundbites, they're concerned about two things.
They're concerned that Obama did it, had Tiger Woods up there.
And it was clear, at least to me, that the CNN panelists were saying that he should have kept this secret.
They should have had better secrecy.
He didn't do anything wrong.
It's okay.
He's not running for reelection.
He can have whoever he wants up there, but it was not good optics.
And of course, there isn't a picture.
All we have are the tweets from Tim Rosafort.
But the regime is not denying it.
But the way they're reacting, you would think Obama had invited me up there to play golf.
I mean, these people are acting like this is really a major faux pas for Obama to have done this.
Former U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife have agreed to plead guilty to charges in an alleged scheme to spend $750,000 in campaign money on personal items.
The following is a look at the items listed in Jackson Jr.'s charging document when they were allegedly purchased and for how much.
And he used campaign money to buy these things.
A gold-plated men's Rolex watch, July 2007, $43,000.
Bruce Lee memorabilia bought between August 2007, August 2008, $10,000.
Porcelain collectors items, $1,500, January 2008.
Children's furniture, July 2008, $9,500.
Martin Luther King Jr. memorabilia, August and September 2008, $11,000.
Football signed by U.S. presidents, February 2009, $5,000.
Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. using campaign money to live the high life.
Michael Jackson memorabilia bought between August 2009, March 2010, $23,000.
By the way, did you see that Jay-Z and Beoncé are looking at buying Neverland?
Michael Jackson's ranch, did you see that?
29.
Beyonce said that she wants a second daughter or a second child.
I don't know if she specified daughter.
But they don't want Blue Ivy to be only.
I was thinking of only child at Neverland.
But the news is that Jay-Z, Mr. Z, actually, his name is Carter, is denying.
But they've been out there looking at it.
Jay-Z and Beyonce, if you name your first child Blue Ivy, what would your second child's name be?
Green Doe.
Okay, we're not through with the Jesse Jackson Jr. list.
Fur capes and Parkas, November 2009, $5,000.
Ebby Van Halen guitar and Michael Jackson memorabilia, November 2009, $4,000.
Malcolm X memorabilia, February 2010, $2,200.
Jimi Hendrix memorabilia, March 2010, $2,700.
That's in the charging document.
This reminds me, I've heard something like this before, way back in 2001.
To challenge my integrity is beneath contempt.
I do not deserve this treatment.
Two watches, a Rolex watch, diamond earrings for his girlfriend.
I have never television set.
Ever.
Oriental rug, grandfather clock, other antique items.
Done anything.
Suits.
At any time.
Approximately 14 deliveries of envelopes of cash to Torricelli's house.
To betray the trust of the people of the state of New Jersey.
What is it?
Never.
Never.
This is Bob Torricelli denying it.
But the evidence was clear.
By the way, that was David Chang, the guy that was the torch's partner in crime here, David Chang, was his lawyer, Brad Simon, listing all the gifts that Torricelli accepted.
So Torricelli's a little smarter.
He accepted as gifts.
Jesse Jackson Jr. actually bought the stuff with campaign funds.
And the torch was gone, too.
The torch was there.
They sent Bill Clinton in there.
And they got his signature, Torricelli's signature on a document.
He would not run.
He paved the way for Lautenberg to move in.
New York City, ladies and gentlemen, is marking five years of handing out free condoms.
They did this on February 15th.
New York City this week marked the fifth anniversary of a groundbreaking free condom program that has distributed tens of millions of free rubbers under the racy slogan NYC condoms get some.
NYC brand condoms launched on Valentine's Day 2007.
And they're keeping records.
Five years of handing out free condoms.
Now, quickly, I want to go back to this USA Today story: Obama and his immigration plan.
And remember, Democrats on Capitol Hill begged Obama not to present his own plan.
The gang of eight, four Republicans and four Democrats had presented their plan.
They were thought to be on the same page, and that was going to provide the impetus for everybody else signing on.
And the Democrats begged Obama not to present his own plan because all it would do, gum up the works, might undermine the plan that already had some momentum behind it.
And yet he did.
Over the weekend, a draft of a White House immigration proposal obtained by USA Today would allow illegal immigrants to become legal permanent residents within eight years.
Now, note that the USA Today story does not say a draft of President Obama's immigration proposal obtained by USA Today.
It says a draft of a White House immigration proposal.
It is my contention that Obama did that.
A, again, the fact that Obama releases this as a leak to USA Today while he's on the golf course keeps him distant from it.
His fingerprints are not on it.
Remember now, from the perspective of the low-information voter, the same people who say they disapprove of Obama's agenda and yet disagree with the direction of the country, the people who do not make any correlation between Obama's policies and the direction of the country, this amazing phenomenon, first president in history.
Honestly, the first president in my lifetime who somehow is not tied to his policies.
Better stated, the first president in my lifetime whose policies are thought to have nothing to do with the reality of the direction the country is going.
And so what has Obama done here?
Democrats begged him don't present your own plan because it'll be contradictory to what that's already been presented and just gum up the works.
But he did it anyway via a leak.
And then yesterday in the Sunday show's chief of staff is all over TV talking about it while Obama's playing golf.
He's not even tied to it.
But there still is a White House plan.
It is my contention that the purpose of this plan being leaked is precisely to gum up the works.
See, the next event on the political horizon that really matters is not the sequester.
It's not the next debt limit.
It's not the next this or that.
It's the 2014 House elections.
The 2014 House elections are the next ballgame.
If the Democrats win the House of Representatives, then they will own every aspect of the executive and legislative branches, and that's it.
The Republicans will not be able to stop them at all.
Now, there is a word that is highly relevant in politics.
It is power.
Politics is about power.
Having it, wielding it, having the guts to wield it, having the willingness to use it, to project it, and the Republicans don't have any.
The sad reality right now is the Republicans don't have any power.
And in addition to that, they are involved in a circular firing squad right now.
They're shooting each other.
They're shooting at me.
They're shooting at Tea Parties.
They're shooting at Tea Parties, they're shooting at the Republican establishment.
The Republicans are vying for power within their party, but there's no power.
They don't have any power in Washington.
Even though now I know you're, but Rush, but Rush, they own the House.
Yeah, they do.
But there's nobody there that's willing to exercise any power.
Everything is expressly reactionary and defensive.
But I'm just telling you that everything being done here is geared toward 2014, and the closest we're ever going to get to a dictatorship is if the Democrats win it.
And so this leak of an immigration plan, I mean, what are the Republicans doing?
Whether you agree with it or not, the Republicans think that they have to do some sort of outreach to the Hispanic community if they're to have a chance at winning the next presidential race.
And of course, midterms in 2014.
Now, I happen to think that they're dead wrong in their outreach to Hispanics in terms of their motivation.
I am all for reaching out to everybody.
Don't misunderstand.
But I think they're doing it under false premises and with incorrect data.
And they're going to gum it up.
So it is in Obama's best interest for there not to be a deal on an immigration bill.
Now, he's never going to say that.
In fact, he's going to say just the opposite.
He's going to make people think that's what he wants more than anything other than a fix to the sequester.
That's the immediate.
He's going to make people think it's immigration.
That's the next most important thing in the world.
When in fact, it won't.
He doesn't.
He wants as much chaos, indecision, and apparent lack of progress going into 2014 as he can get.
That's why he leaks a health care or an immigration plan over the weekend to USA today.
I got to take a break.
Sit tight.
We'll be back with much more after this.
Don't go away.
Hey, we are back.
I just want to, let me make the point this way, folks.
In terms of getting an immigration bill before the 2014 election, it is my theorem, it is my fervent, heartfelt belief that even if amnesty,
full-fledged amnesty, were passed tomorrow, it would not get the Democrats as many votes in an off-year election as fighting the Republicans over amnesty will get them.
I think, and I think the Democrats know this.
I think it's part of their calculus.
I think the Democrats think that they get more support.
They will get more votes by fighting the Republicans on amnesty rather than passing a bill that grants it.
I think it's all wrapped up in that.
And that's it.
In fact, I know it is.
That's Obama's modus operandi here.
He's always campaigning against powerful forces opposing him at every turn as he's only trying to fix America from what was an unjust, mistaken founding.
He needs the battle.
He needs the straw man.
He needs the Republicans as the great enemy to everybody.
And so fighting them on immigration will get him more votes in the 2014 midterms than actually passing and signing a full-fledged amnesty bill.
I mean, why mess around with some form of compromise now when, in his view, he gets the full enchilada if he just waits a couple years, wins the House in 2014, and then goes for broke on everything that he wants.
That's just me.
It's just what I think.
Here's Al in Spokane, Washington.
It's great to have you on the phone.
You're first up high.
Thank you, Rush.
Good morning.
I wanted to bring up something that seems very apparent is that our president is playing a very smart chess game with the Congress.
And he goes ahead and puts out a pawn.
They grab it with one of their other pieces of bishop or whatever, and then he comes around later on and he snags them down the road and it's checkmate.
He does it every time.
And I see this, and they're not smart enough to pick it up where he sets them up like through this leak, and then he sets up earlier the fact that he's going to allow them to make some law about immigration.
Then he comes around, and man, boom, checkmate.
He does it every time.
I think one of the things that makes that possible is that the Republicans are playing in fear.
Fear, I'd say fear is not a great equalizer.
Fear is a killer.
Fear leads to paralysis.
I mean, fear makes you afraid to do anything because you fear the outcome.
You fear the result.
So you don't do anything, hoping to stave off the result, and you end up paralyzed.
I appreciate the call, Al, very much.
We'll be back with much more when we get back.
Okay, we've got to take a brief timeout here at the top of the hour, my friends.
But sit tight much more straight ahead as we talk about some problems happening with Obama.
Key guess, the pre-existing condition thing is not working out.
Oh, damn it.
Export Selection
