Okay, from our correspondent on the upper west side of Manhattan, the sleet has now turned mostly to snow.
In Manhattan, it is starting to stick now, folks.
There's almost an inch of snow on the ground this due to drifting.
Live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida, it's open line Friday.
Fatalities, if any, have not yet been reported, but it's only a matter of time.
Great to have you here.
Excellence in broadcasting, El Rushbo, with a special edition, how to survive the 8 to 12 inches of snow that's on the way in New York and maybe 22 inches in Boston.
We are here to serve humanity and help in any way we can.
Happy to have you, folks.
When we go to the phones, whatever you want to talk about is fine on Friday.
There are no restrictions.
Telephone number 800-282-2882, the email address, ilrushbow at EIBnet.com, Mayor Patrick in Massachusetts.
I'm told that it was the 10 inches that excited him.
The forecast for 10 inches is banned all automobile traffic, all vehicular traffic throughout the state on every road in the state of Massachusetts in less than two hours as of 4 o'clock this afternoon.
Mayor Doomberg this afternoon at City Hall with a phalanx of people behind him.
I mean, it was like it was out there on 9-11 with Mayor Giuliani.
I mean, there were scores of people there.
And Mayor Doomberg, he stole my tips.
Please do not use gas ovens or ranges to heat your homes.
That can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, which can be fatal.
Now, as we do during all emergency weather conditions, our city has a plan of action for keeping New Yorkers safe, and we've already put that plan into motion.
And I would like to describe a little bit about what our different city agencies are doing and stress some things that we would ask all New Yorkers to do.
The first is stay off the city streets, stay out of your cars, and stay in your homes while the worst of the storm is on us.
You didn't need to.
I already told you that.
And I went better.
My tips were better.
Now, here's why he wants you to stay off the street.
Staying off the streets will make it easier for city workers to clear the streets of snow so that emergency vehicles can use them.
By keeping ourselves out of harm's way, we'll reduce the hazards our first responders have to confront as well.
Tonight, what's a good idea?
Cook a meal, stay home, read a good book, watch a movie, just take it easy.
Remember, there are a lot of people who are going to be out there shoveling the snow and trying to plow it to the side, and we just don't want to get in their way.
And many of those people are going to overexert and die.
They shouldn't be out there in the first place.
I hope those people out there have listened to me today to find out all the layers they're supposed to wear and change frequently because that snow is going to turn wet.
It's going to make you cold.
It gets heavier.
It's a disaster waiting to happen out there.
And you heard him.
He said, don't use gas ovens or ranges to heat your homes.
That can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
That could lead you to open a window to get rid of the poisoned air.
That could get freezing air to come in and make you colder.
You could freeze to death.
If you don't open the window to stay warm, spark or something could blow up the house.
You could die in the explosion.
Tough choices.
Tough, tough choice.
Maxine Waters.
Maxine Waters, ladies and gentlemen, Obama has put in place a secret database with everything on everyone.
Maxine Waters says the president's put in place an organization with the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life.
She was on with Roland Martin.
Actually, this happened on Monday.
That's not today.
We're just learning about it.
And I just sent this up to Cookie.
Apparently, there's audio on it.
And if we get the audio, we will play that for you.
On CNN, ladies and gentlemen, ever since Time magazine called me the Pope in the Marco Rubio story, the rest of the media has now once again decided to spend a little time on me, despite my best efforts to remain invisible, low profile, not be noticed.
Carol Costello at CNN talked to Democrat strategerist Maria Cardona and Republican consultant Alice Stewart about the Republican Party and me.
Here is how Karen or Carol Costello set it up.
Rush Limbaugh still looms large.
The man Time Magazine calls the GOP savior Marco Rubio, meeting with the talk show host last week, went on a show to sell his new immigration plan.
So the question, can you reinvent yourself and still kowtow to Rush Limbaugh?
There's the question for every Republican politician.
Can you reinvent yourself and still kowtow to me?
You see, the, well, what I'm inferring she means is that I'm a dinosaur.
I'm a relic.
Can you, if you're a Republican, get hip?
Can you modernize?
Can you get with the times and still satisfy me?
Because you have to satisfy me if you're going to be anything in the Republican Party.
That's what Carol Costello thinks.
So here is the Democrat strategerist answer.
Not if you want to reinvent yourself credibly.
They need to get rid of the idea that Rush Limbaugh is a real political leader.
He's an entertainer, and he has even said that himself.
And as long as Republicans believe that he's a real political leader, their makeover is going to be just very superficial and it's not going to work.
So if they continue to treat me as any kind of a guy with political leadership characteristics, if they look at me as any kind of person that has a large following that I'm leading ideas, that's not going to work.
That's Maria Cardona.
She's a Democrat strategerist.
And remember that, so she's just echoing what Obama said.
I don't know if it's worth it.
This is Maria.
We've played soundbites of this woman before.
She's one of these television strategerists.
Fox has them.
MSNBC has them.
CNN has them.
People call themselves Democrat strategists.
I don't know for who she strategizes.
When you watch these people on TV, you see them, and the graphic underneath says Democrat strategist.
My guess is when you see that, you think that they have some official tie to the Democrat Party and that they are strategizing or helping to plan or whatever, and they've got some official linkage to the party.
Oftentimes it's not the case.
They're just people with opinions.
And they're on TV and they're telling people what the Democrats are thinking and doing and what the Democrats ought to think and what they ought to do.
But there is a, I think there's a bit of a misleading aspect of the presentation here.
And Republicans too, not just Democrats.
They want all these people.
I can tell you that 90% of the Republican strategists on TV have nothing to do with the party.
They're just people that have opinions that go on television and voice them.
But that graphic, Republican strategist, Democrat strategist, implies officialdom.
And I don't think they are.
And I would venture to say that I have more people in this audience following my strategery than Maria Cardona does wherever she strategizes or what have you.
It's a wild guess.
Now, here's the Republican strategist, Allison Stewart.
Remember, the question is: can the Republicans get hip?
Can they modernize and kowtow to rush limbo at the same time?
Well, every candidate, for the most part, will go down at South Florida and kiss the rush ring.
That's just what you do.
Every that's the Republican strategist.
Her name is Alice Stewart, and they'll just come down here and kiss the ring.
Well, that's what happens to Popes.
She's not a candidate.
I don't know that she's coming to the kiss the room, but this is what happens to popes.
You've seen it.
Time magazine called me Pope.
That's why she's saying this.
I kiss the ring.
I'll tell you what happened.
There are going to be a lot of people survive this weekend because of me who are going to want to come kiss my ring, who otherwise would die if they hadn't been listening to me.
These people are in for a shock.
These strategists think that I have no idea.
I don't know who Maria Cardona is.
And saying that, I'm not trying to insult her.
I don't know who she is.
You can keep asking me, and I only know that we've played soundbites from her a couple of three times, saying other stuff as a strategist.
I don't know who she is.
I don't know where she lives.
I don't know if she's threatened by the storm or not.
I have no idea if she's in danger.
It's Open Line Friday.
By the way, one quick thing.
I just got somebody sent me a little bio on Maria Cardona.
Snurgly seems obsessed here with who she is.
It turns out she has worked for the DNC.
And she works for some K Street lobbying firm now, I think, if I read this right.
But she's, you know, she does outreach.
She's a Democrat.
She did.
She worked on Hillary's fail.
Okay, so she is a legit Democrat strategist.
So not that that qualifies her to understand me.
Most people in politics don't understand.
Even after 25 years, they still don't get what I am or this show is all about.
It really is amazing, particularly on the Democrat side.
Anyway, so she is, because I had said most of these people really have no official tie.
They just label, she does have official ties to Democrat.
So she is a legit strategist.
She advised Hillary, who hasn't won anything.
I'm just throwing that in.
Now, we helped Hillary.
Don't forget Operation Chaos.
And they still hate me.
Okay, she won Senator New York, but that's not.
No Republican was going to win that.
They really can't count that as winning.
She carpetbagged in there.
Bill Clinton's her husband.
The reason nobody thinks to add that to the win roster is that did she even who was her opponent?
Can you tell me who her opponent was?
See?
Rick Lazio.
There was never a prayer once he crossed the aisle.
Once he said he wanted her to sign the joint campaign spending pledge or whatever.
I don't.
But she did win that.
All right.
I just keep forgetting that.
That was in the cards.
That was like an anointment.
Yeah, anointment.
Jim in Singers Glen, Virginia.
Welcome to the EIB Network.
Hi.
Hello, Rush.
Greetings, sir.
Thank you for calling.
Hey, I've been listening to the show today, and I just want to tell you that I think at times like these, you should be a little more serious and stick to the issues.
What do you mean?
Well, I hear you talking about Marco Rubio and Republican strategists, Democrat strategists, talking about Maxine Waters in a secret database.
I don't think this is the time for that.
I think you should stick to the issues.
There's a serious snowstorm on the way, an historic snowstorm.
My gosh, I can't win.
I can't win for trying.
Well, people need these tips.
I'm a survivor, too.
I've been in 8 to 12 inches of snow.
I've been in 22 inches of snow.
We need tips.
We need to know what to do.
You sound like Ed Rollins, in which case you would need the tip.
I agree.
Well, Jim, I appreciate the call.
Thanks.
Thanks, Ross.
See what kind of stuff I get no matter what I do.
Here's a stick to the issues crowd, not enough tips.
And I can understand this, folks.
There is a genuine killer storm.
It is actually already started.
I watched it.
I watched Fox on it.
You can see the snow on TV.
The snow is falling.
It's accumulated already an inch because of heavy drifting.
It doesn't look good.
I think we need to...
Has anybody put in motion whatever you have to do for the aid, the relief bill, the declared disaster, emergency, whatever you have to do to get federal funding to clean up?
And the concert, has anybody planned the concert?
We did a concert after Hurricane Sandy.
And there's going to be a concert for this.
A concert in Boston, a concert in New York, and who knows wherever.
Here's Maxine Waters.
This was last Sunday on TV1's Washington Watch with Roland Martin.
Maxine Waters, Democrat from California.
Her district is basically Watts area of Los Angeles.
And Roland Martin said, the reality is, like anything else, you'd better get what you can while Obama's there because look, come 2016, that's it.
Now, what Roland Martin's saying here is all of you who are looking for prosperity from the government, you better get it and get it now.
Get it while you can.
Get it while Obama's there.
Because come 2016, he's not going to be there, and then you're going to be on your own.
You better get what you can get now.
And here's what Maxine Waters said in reply.
Well, you know, I don't know.
And I think some people are missing something here.
The president has put in place an organization that contains the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life.
That's going to be very, very powerful.
That database will have information about everything on every individual in ways that it's never been done before.
Hmm.
Okay.
Cool.
Fine.
What's that got to do with getting benefits after 2016?
Maybe she didn't understand what he was talking about.
He's talking about, you better get in there, get your goodies right now because 2016 is gone.
You better get it while you can.
She says, I don't know.
Roland, he's got this database on there.
Maybe she means he's not going anywhere.
Maybe that's what she means, folks.
He's not going anywhere because he's got this database with information about everything on every individual.
I'll bet that's what she meant, Snerdly.
That 2016 isn't a big deal because he's not going anywhere.
That has to be it.
Be back right after this.
Okay, we're back.
Open line Friday, Rush Limboy and Joanne in Laurel Run, Pennsylvania.
Hi, Joanne.
I'm glad you called.
It's great to have you here with us.
Rush, God bless you and your buddy there.
I hope you're around for many, many years to get us through this terrible, terrible time in our land.
But every time your music comes on, I'm dancing in my house.
Well, thank you very much.
I appreciate that.
Rush, I have you on two radios at all times, one end of the house to the other.
I appreciate that.
Thank you.
And that last call you had, he's one of those people out there that's waiting for the government to tell him how to wipe himself after he goes to the bathroom.
But aside from that.
Well, look, I know you have that attitude, but the guy was scared.
I mean, he's one of these people that doesn't think he might be able to get through the next three days without some kind of assistance or tips from me.
And I took it that he was grateful.
Okay, well, then I hope he's listening.
I'm going to be 65 years old this year.
I go out six nights a week to do my job.
If I don't go do my job, I don't have a job.
Back in the 80s, when I was in my 40s, we had 101 inches down in Wilkesbury, total snow.
There was so much snow, they were like mountains.
They had to get the trucks and start dumping it into the Susquehanna River.
That was for the whole year.
Pardon me?
That was 101 inches the whole season.
But it was so high, there were mountains of snow.
I mean, people were fighting with one another because you took their parking place or because you were shuffling the snow in their backyards.
I mean, it was horrific.
It's just our weather.
Let me, wait, no, no, no, wait a minute.
That's 20 years ago.
That's a long time.
This is what old people do.
They come around, they tell young people how bad it was and how horrible it was.
And you just don't understand what life is like today.
I didn't hate it, though.
It was the weather.
It was the season.
You got snow.
Yeah, but it's global warming now.
No, we know it isn't, Rush.
I just feel bad for our country.
You know, Rush, to another scenario.
I had four uncles in the Second World War.
My uncle Al was shot down and lived through the Bataan death march.
And I turned Republican when Reagan ran, and we've been going downhill since.
And I'm crushed to see that people don't see what's happening to this beautiful land that God gave us.
I'm crushed.
And I don't know what to do to help.
I was in a fog a week after the election, just in disbelief.
I won't even turn on Fox because some of their commentators I don't care for with this stuff that they fed me through the whole thing, which I watched religiously before I went to work, when I came home from work.
I can't even listen to them anymore.
I'm hearing that from a lot of people, by the way.
And there's a handful of Republicans, but they're not speaking loud enough.
They're not speaking for our Constitution.
We're not teaching our children in school.
Thank God for my kids.
They're teaching my grandchildren, and I have great-grandchildren now.
You know, where our country stood and what it stands for.
But we don't get that in our public schools.
If you don't teach them, they're not getting it.
I know this is a major problem, one we've discussed on this program, and one that I'm intrigued by in terms of trying to do something about it.
Nothing to say on it right now, but that's something that's going to have to change.
The education system is what gives, I mean, Obama is a product of it.
I mean, he's he didn't come out of the womb thinking this radical stuff.
He had to have this stuff taught to him, and he had to be persuaded, and it worked.
And everybody like this, starting now, practically in kindergarten, gets inculcated with this stuff.
It's actually an indoctrination, not an education.
And the biggest enemy that these people think they've got in the world today is us, conservatives and Republicans.
That's how they're taught.
They're taught this stuff.
And they're pummeled with it every day from the earliest days of their educated lives.
And it's going to be a major project to reverse that and overcome it, but it's going to have to happen.
You know what, Rush?
I don't know if this is true, and maybe Sturdley could check into it, but I was down at my sister's yesterday.
My brother-in-law said it was on the internet that Obama was pledging allegiance with his left hand.
No, that's no, no, no.
That's no, no, no.
That's an old thing that goes back to the campaign of 08.
Don't pay.
That's not the problem.
And nobody is, even if that did happen, that's not going to change anybody's mind about the guy.
They're just going to reject it.
Even if you've got proof, people aren't going to believe that.
That's not the way we have to go about this.
Look at he's here.
There's nothing, nothing is going to change the outcome of the election, either in 2008 or 2012.
That's part of the reality that we have to face and accept and deal with accordingly.
There is no impeaching Obama or any of that.
Now, I fully am expecting there to be events that occur that nobody can predict.
There always are, that always upset what appears to be a steaming locomotive that can't be stopped.
And I think we've gotten to the point where it is going to take an event or a series of events to wake people up.
And I think it's already starting to happen.
The New York Times has a story today on the absolute pain and suffering in this country over a tiny tax increase.
And they're not blaming the Republicans in this.
Look at there's there is much, much more economic reality to settle in here.
And people's economic circumstances are going to worsen.
There's nothing that is going to stop that from happening.
So just don't give up the ship out there and don't throw up your hands.
You don't sound like one who would do that anyway.
You just hang in there and be tough because the time is going to come when you will be heard again and you will be listened to.
The time is going to come where people are going to ask you to explain what really happened to them.
That time is coming for all of us.
Do not doubt me.
I'm glad you called.
I appreciate it.
This is Jason, Orange County, California.
Welcome to the EIB Network.
Hello.
Hi, Rush.
I'm a Rush baby.
I'm thrilled to talk to you today.
Thank you.
Well, thank you very much.
I'm great to have you with us here.
I have a question.
I'm hoping you can explain something for me.
I don't understand how Harry Reid is able to lie almost every time he gets up there and makes a statement, not just about Romney, not just about a budget, but it's constant and it drives me crazy.
Well, the overall answer to this is the same answer to why did the Democrats get away with everything they get away with.
And that is, and you're talking about getting away with it with a certain group of people, what we call the low-information voter.
Most people in this country, well, not most, a majority of people never hear that Harry Reid told a lie.
What Harry Reid said is never characterized as a lie or as being wrong or an untruth in the media.
It's never said.
And you're right.
Every day he is filled with outrageous insults and untruths, but he's never called on it.
No Democrat ever is.
They are allowed to lie.
Harry Reid's purpose is to defeat Republicans.
And whatever he has to do in that quest is permitted by the Democrat Party and by the media.
He's under no scrutiny whatsoever.
The Republicans could call press conferences every day and accuse him of it, offer the quotes, demand an explanation, and the news would be that the Republicans are a bunch of spoiled kids who can't take it, got to grow up, politics is tough, get used to it.
It's like anything else until a majority of the people are made aware and understand this stuff is going to continue to happen.
So your challenge is to not let it frustrate you to the point of ruining your day.
I have been there and I've let that stuff happen.
I mean, I've gone home from work just literally livid over what these people get away with for 25 years.
How in the world can we change this?
I know exactly how you feel.
People lying arrogantly, condescendingly, blatantly.
It's one of the most irritating things in terms of a person's character or characteristics or personality traits.
It irritates me.
And all you can do is contradict it to people and tell them that he's not telling the truth.
But there's another factor, too.
And when Harry Reid says, for example, that Mitt Romney didn't pay his taxes, what's Romney to do?
If Romney challenges him on it, then that's just opening the door to media is going to demand proof.
We're in a situation where whatever allegation a Democrat makes is taken as truth.
The accusation then becomes the responsibility of whoever he's accusing to prove that he's wrong.
You'll note that Harry Reid never had to provide evidence of that charge that Romney wasn't paying his taxes or hadn't paid.
Nobody ever demanded that Harry Reid prove it.
Not in the media anyway.
He got away with saying, well, I know somebody who told me.
And what that became was the media going to Romney, offering or demanding that Romney prove that he was wrong.
So here's Romney forced with proving a negative.
It's a phony false assumption.
The worst thing you can do is behave in such a way as to allow that to be accepted.
So what Romney had to do was basically ignore it.
But then there was pressure from the Republicans.
A bunch of Republicans in the media in Washington got nervous and were urging Romney, go ahead, release your tax returns.
Just do it and get this out of the way.
Just like the same Republican said, go ahead and sign the fiscal cliff and we'll deal with Obama on a dead limit.
Let's just get taxes off the table.
We keep giving things away.
They wanted Romney to release his taxes just to get rid of the issue.
It didn't get rid of the issue.
It wouldn't get rid of the issue.
All the Democrats wanted was page after page after page of Romney's tax returns so that they could have a data mining operation.
They could find anything in there that would look suspicious to low-information voters.
And Romney did the right thing in denying it to them.
That was the purpose of the allegation.
It's a stacked deck, and we're holding the short end for now, but it won't be forever.
We'll be back.
You want to hear Harry Reid's latest lie?
I mean, they happen every day.
I don't even talk about them anymore.
Harry Reid said this past Sunday on this week, he was talking about the sequester.
The sequester was the topic.
Now, he was not, did not say that this was going to be cut by the sequester.
This number that he used was independent of the sequester.
He said the American people need to understand it's not as if we've done nothing for the debt.
$2.6 trillion already we've made in cuts.
And all those cuts have come from non-defense programs.
He didn't have the guts to say that on the floor of the Senate, but he said that on this week, and he was not challenged by anybody.
They're nowhere near $2.6 trillion in cuts.
Folks, there haven't been any cuts in anything, defense, non-defense, discretionary spending, Zilch Zero Nada.
He went on to repeat that lie to George Stephanopoulos.
He said, I repeat, $2.6 trillion already, all coming from non-defense.
See, if we're going to have a sequester, defense is going to have to do their share.
We haven't cut $2.6 trillion.
If we had cut $2.6 trillion, Barack Obama would not have been reelected.
But that's just an out-and-out lie, folks.
It's not even close to anything in reality.
Now, what would you do?
But not one reporter challenged him.
If he's not going to get challenged on this stuff, it's going to survive and live on in the ether out there.
He does it every day.
It's pathological.
I don't know how you compromise with such a pathological liar.
I don't know how you talk with one, and this is the guy that's going to be putting a budget together.
Big whoop.
Hey, folks, imagine it's next year, and it's a week earlier, and it's the Super Bowl this weekend, and this snowstorm is hitting.
What would the NFL do?
Probably take away your guns.
And I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and survive.
