Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24 7 Podcast.
Well, so much for my low profile effort.
I guess it totally shot now.
Details coming up.
Have you have you heard about this Notre Dame football player?
This uh Monty Tao.
You know, I called Catherine this morning.
I said, Are you a hoax?
I need to know.
Is this real or is it not?
Greetings, my friends, and welcome.
Great to have you here.
Telephone number 800 282-2882, the email address, L Rushmore EIB net.com.
Maybe, maybe it's a Hawaiian thing to make up girlfriends.
Obama did it.
You know, he had this composite girlfriend in one of his uh in one of his books.
This is uh this is an it's an amazing and amazing story, and I tell you what, if this keeps up, it's gonna eclipse Lance Armstrong on Oprah tonight.
Manty Teo, who is uh really uh uh said to be a great, very high draft prospect National Football League coming out of Notre Dame, apparently had a multiple month long relationship with a woman he called a girlfriend.
Never met her, but talked about kisses and so forth, a a running back for the Arizona Cardinals uh also tweeting online that he knew the woman, described her appearance, but she never existed.
Everybody involved says she never existed.
They don't know if he made it up and was living a lie or if he was hoaxed by people.
If he was hoaxed, he totally fell for it and had a relationship with somebody pretending to be this woman online, and it got very serious.
And she died within close proximity to his grandmother on the eve of a crucially important game for Notre Dame.
He went out and he played and he had a great game after learning of the death of the woman who didn't exist.
But he didn't know she didn't exist.
So his pain and suffering was real.
Athletic director at Notre Dame is all worried now that Matthew Teo may never, ever trust anybody ever again after being perpetrated by a hoax.
Having had this hoax perpetrated on.
Folks, this is uh what do you mean the Algeria situation?
What Algerian situation?
Uh nothing uh nothing about that on TMZ or I don't know what you're talking about.
There's nothing about that on on TMZ or Entertainment Weekly.
Algeria?
What, there's some American hostages there.
Well, gee.
Uh uh Well, that means Obama's gonna be flying off to a fundraiser in Vegas.
We we have hostages somewhere, and well, that's what that means.
That means there's gonna be a fundraiser and and uh parties and stuff in uh in in Las Vegas.
That's that's that's what that means.
Have they found a video yet to uh to blame it on?
They haven't?
You're kidding me.
We got American hostages in Algeria and there's no video to blame for this.
Well, I do know that Obama's gonna be heading to Vegas.
That's a that's a that's a that's a lock.
But seriously, folks, and nothing about that on uh on TMZ or at uh Entertainment Weekly.
I'm just now being told the fate of the seven American hostages is still unknown.
You know, if all if Obama had just like an egg executive uh action yesterday, that's a new word for him.
Executive action, outlawing hostage taking in his fat laws yesterday, it wouldn't have happened.
Right?
Outlaw hostage taking.
I wonder uh with all these new gun laws, you know what we're gonna end up with?
And then make a prediction.
Are you enjoying this monologue, Mr. Sertley?
Okay, do you realize what I've been talking about all week?
Do you know how many people on the left listening to this who do Not understand one syllable of the humor who are totally clueless and are out there just getting incensed.
I guarantee you they are getting incensed.
They don't see the humor such such as, you know, we're going to have massive registration of gun owners.
Every gun owner is, I mean, the the objective here on the part of the regime is to have every gun owner uh documented.
Which means, you know, nothing always works exactly as planned.
We're going to end up with undocumented gun owners.
And my question is, will the undocumented gun owners get free health care and in-state tuition.
Earned income tax credits.
Maybe even some fast and furious guns.
Because we are going to have undocumented gun owners.
There's uh there's no question about it.
So trying to keep a low profile.
This is what I mean.
I just telling you, they don't get this the humor.
They wound so tight that they're just waiting to be offended.
And this is like the third day in a row, members of the media are fit to be tied over my characterization of the children at the White House being used as human shields.
And we'll start.
Well, it's it times change.
Jonathan Carl, when he was at CNN, I did a number of interviews with Jonathan Carl, and he was a like our old buddy Jim Rutenberg at the New York Times.
He's a guy that we trusted.
He was a genuine reporter.
He was right down the middle.
He didn't print what I said.
He didn't engage in gotcha journalism and he was he was placed to talk to.
He's he's he's now undergone a massive transformation.
And the interesting thing is that I haven't changed since Jonathan Carl knew me.
I mean, he knows who I am, and he knows what I'm about.
He knows the kind of person I am.
But that doesn't matter.
He has other considerations now because he works at ABC.
And last night on ABC's World News Tonight, he's now the chief White House correspondent, Jonathan Carl reporting on Obama's gun control plan.
When the president made his announcement, he was joined by four kids who wrote him letters after Sandy Hook.
These are some pretty smart letters from some pretty smart young people.
Julia said, Julia, where are you?
There you go.
I'm not scared for my safety, I'm scared for others.
Rush Limbaugh mocked that.
The children are writing letters to the president.
Please, we don't want to die.
We don't want to.
So there's that.
They said, no matter what, I I'm I just commenting on things that happen as I see it, and my effort to stay in the shadows.
Uh a less high profile, maybe even a lower profile.
My effort to not get noticed isn't working.
But Jonathan Carl, he knows what we do here.
I haven't changed since the time that we did speak to him.
And our stalker over at CNN, Carol Costello, she got in on this.
Of course, I think the first people that got in on this is people over at MSNBC.
Here's uh here's Carol Costello, and and she says something totally untrue that I was mocking specific kids.
Rush Limbaugh calling those children in his words human shields.
The president highlighted one little girl in particular.
Her name is Julia Stokes.
She's seven years old.
She wrote this moving letter telling the president she was afraid to lose her brothers and sisters, and then Rush Limbaugh promptly mocked her and the other children in attendance.
This is the first I've heard of this girl.
I never knew that one of these kids' name was Julia yesterday.
I didn't know the names of any of them.
I didn't even know there were only four.
All I know is they were brought up there as human shields.
They're designed to protect the politicians who ostensibly are attempting to get legislation passed.
They're human shields.
There's no there's no, this is what gets them.
I'm exactly right about it.
In fact, the next sound bite, the next soundbite, this was on CNN's newsroom this morning, Carol Costello again, and she Spoke with a Democrat strategist named Maria Cordona.
Maria Cardona about Obama's gun control plan announcement.
Now, in this bite, I will be ben I will be denounced while being proclaimed to be right.
This proves my point that it's the fact that I say what I say that bugs them.
And when I'm right, it really bugs them.
So here, Carol Costello says Limbaugh is limbaugh.
But should kids be put in a position to be mocked in this bitterly partisan political world we're living in now?
Now you the let me uh analyze the question for you.
Look, Limbaugh is limbaugh.
We can't change him.
There's nothing we can do about it.
In our world, Limbaugh is, you know, an unpopular geek.
But having said that, is it really right to be using kids this way?
In other words, I'm right, but damn it.
I'm right.
And here's what uh Maria Garardona says.
Certainly I agree that Limbaugh is limbaugh, and no matter what President Obama does, he is going to be against it.
So let's put that out front.
I do think we need to be very careful about using kids in politics and to seemingly advance a political agenda like Rush Limbaugh said.
So what is it?
You guys have to make up your mind.
Sure, Limbaugh's limbaugh, and he happens to be right.
We're gonna have to stop exploiting kids.
This is a Democrat strategist there.
Anyway, just wanted to share that with you, my friends.
This is I'm making an ongoing effort.
You may not be able to tell, but I'm trying really hard to maintain my new lower profile.
Yeah, Julia was the name of the girl in the ad, uh the Obama ad that we all thought everybody would laugh at, where we went wrong is over half of the women in this country want to be Julia.
And we thought everybody'd be laughing at that ad.
Anyway, uh, my good friends, the telephone numbers 800-282-2882, the email address L Rushbow at EIBNet.com.
We are loaded today.
A lot to discuss, a lot to talk to you about, so sit tight.
We're coming back with all the rest of it right after this.
Hi, welcome back.
It's great to have you here, folks.
Rush Limbaugh and the Excellence in Broadcasting Network.
Telephone number 800-282-2882.
Okay, so the media every day has a conniption fit about me.
I supposedly cross the line of propriety.
I am always pushing the envelope.
And yet, whatever I say, I think pales in comparison to what Bob Schieffer said on Face the Nation on Sunday.
Bob Schiefer, where where is the media outrage?
When Bob Schiefer of CNCBS compares Obama's gun initiatives to defeating Hitler.
In other words, taking on the NRA is the equivalent of taking on Adolf Hitler.
Now, is there room for that in our discourse today?
Why is that not an example of just over the top defamation, exaggeration, insulting, not to mention the lack of civility, comparing the NRA, people like Wayne Lampier and David Kane, and how many millions of Americans?
Decent, good-hearted Americans, taking out the NRA as Obama's equivalent of taking out Hitler.
Here's what he said.
This was Sunday on Slay the Nation.
Let's remember there was considerable opposition when Lyndon Johnson went to the Congress and passed, presented some of the most comprehensive civil rights legislation in the history of this country.
Most people told him he couldn't get it done, but he figured out a way to do it.
And that's what Barack Obama is gonna have to do.
What happened in Newtown was probably the worst day in this country's history since 9-11.
We found Osama bin Laden.
We tracked him down.
We changed the way that we dealt with that problem.
Surely, finding Osama bin Laden, surely passing civil rights legislation as Lyndon Johnson was able to do, and before that, surely defeating the Nazis was a much more formidable task than taking on the gun lobby.
Right.
Now, where is the media outrage at Bob Schiefer comparing Obama's gun initiatives with the Civil Rights Act, 1964, killing bin Laden, which by the way, steps that were taken to kill bin Laden, people like Bob Schiefer don't approve of.
In a movie that was made, Zero Dark 30 shut out of meaningful Oscar nomination because of the portrayal of waterboarding as having been relevant in capturing and finding and killing bin Laden.
Can't have that.
And then the Hitler comparison.
Surely, if we can defeat Hitler, we can wipe out the NRA.
I mean, surely.
Why does the left get away with all of these?
This man is ostensibly a journalist.
He supposedly is a newsman.
There isn't any news anymore.
There isn't any reporting of what's going on.
There's no telling people what they missed.
There's no people going home at the end of the day who've been busy working and haven't had a chance to have the TV or radio on and turning on the TV to find out what happened during the day.
That's not what'll happen.
If you go home at the end of the day having been out of touch, you'll turn on your TV and you'll find out what a bunch of mean spirited extremist enemies Obama has, and they all happen to be Republicans, or they all happen to have talk shows.
Every day, all you get is a never-ending effort to eliminate all Obama opposition, and not by the way, in the arena of ideas.
They do it by way of smear, defamation, slander, as they did with Romney in the presidential campaign.
As they did repeatedly with George W. Bush.
What is it with these people?
Comparing their enemies, which happen to be us, who happen to be us, the Nazis and Hitler.
Remember, it is people on the left who made movies and wrote books about the assassination of George W. Bush.
And yet they get all hoity toidy and high and mighty.
They go on their high horses.
Start talking about all this dangerous rhetoric, which might lead to violence, dangerous rhetoric.
How about the dangerous provocation that is coming at the American people every day from this White House and their lackeys in the media?
It's an in your face every day, from the White House on down, to over half the people in this country.
You're the problem.
Guy gets home at the end of the day, turns on the NBC Nightly News, CBS News Tonight, whatever, ABC, guess what he finds out?
He's the problem.
And our brave, courageous young president is doing everything he can to take out people like you.
Make sure that you don't provide any more opposition.
Guy gets home at the end of the day, finds out after a shooting massacre in Newtown, Connecticut that the NRA is the problem, the modern incarnation of Hitler.
It's not news anymore.
And these people aren't journalists.
They're political activists, disguised as journalists.
You know what they loved about the Civil Rights Act?
And I'll tell you that the truth about the Civil Rights Act.
Civil Rights Act would not have become law were it not for Republicans in the Senate.
A greater percentage of Republicans in the Senate.
I don't know.
I say this time blew in my face, and it's not going to matter.
People aren't going to believe it.
It isn't going to make any impact.
Greater percentage of Republicans signed and voted for the Civil Rights Act than to Democrats.
Bill Clinton's mentor, stated mentor, J. William Fulbright, Senator Arkansas, a segregationist was opposed to the Civil Rights Act.
Most Al Gore Sr., most of the Southern Democrats were righteously indignant and opposed to the Civil Rights Act.
The reason the media loves LBJ is because LBJ was governing against the will of a lot of people who didn't want any part of it.
He forced it down their throats.
Happened to be a number of Democrats who had to have it forced down their throats.
The media loves any president who can stick it to the American people.
The media loves any president who can get what he wants, especially if a majority of the people do not want it, such as the elimination of the NRA.
I must take a brief time out.
Sit tight, my friends, we'll back be back with a bunches more.
And uh grab the phones.
Time to go to the phone starting in my adopted hometown, Sacramento, California.
Hi, Judy, I'm glad you called.
Welcome.
Hi, Russ.
It's a pleasure to talk to you.
Thank you.
Oh, you're the first person uh I heard on this turned on my radio just a minute ago.
And I was listening, and I thought it is strictly is using the kids, and they're there to learn.
I understand writing letters is you know, it is learning, but uh I'd like to see a few letters from these children, how their homes have changed, maybe uh they're living in their car now.
Uh maybe they've lost their home, and maybe their dad is driving two hours to work.
Let me tell you why I took your call, Julie.
Let me tell you why.
Because you don't know this.
That's why I wanted to take the call so I could tell you.
You are thinking exactly as I am.
I had a miniature monologue prepared on this very thing today.
I look up at the call board and I see you on the line, and Snerdley has written, these kids should be writing to Obama to tell them their fathers don't have jobs.
That's what your point is.
Instead of writing about, I don't want to die, I don't want to die, please take guns out of people's hands.
How about my daddy needing a job?
You are so right about it.
Because what are we talking about here?
What hurts children?
And the regime and the media are joining forces to try to create the notion, and people believe it, by the way, that their children are at risk in school every day.
We are subjecting our children to violence and harm, and we must do something, and of course, only the federal government can do things.
But the truth of the matter is, our children go to Chicago and talk to them.
Why does nobody go to Chicago and cover what's going on?
Speaking of the media, just yesterday, the day before, another 14-year-old, another 15-year-old, black kids killed in Chicago.
Where's the media?
Why is the media reporting on this?
Is it because it's black on black crime and that isn't a story?
Why are they the the teenage death rate at the hands of guns by virtue of guns in Chicago is dwarfing what happened at Newtown?
We're talking five hundred a year minimum in Chicago.
Where is the media?
Where is the consciousness raising?
Where are the children writing letters from Chicago?
Where are those letters?
Is Obama receiving them?
Does anybody care if it does not happen somewhere in the Northeast?
Does nobody care if it's one or two kids a day instead of twenty-five or thirty in one day?
Does nobody care if it's black on black crime?
If white people were shooting the black kids in Chicago, would the media be there?
If gun violence and children at risk, because of gun Violence is the number one story, then how in the name of Sam Hill can the media not be in Chicago every day?
Why doesn't every media outlet have a Chicago bureau and why isn't what's happening in Chicago leaving the news every night?
If the objective is to control guns, the objective is to control violence.
If the objective is to register owners, if the objective is to find out everybody's got a gun, prevent the sale of certain sizes, types of guns, why isn't anybody in Chicago?
Is it up to me to answer these questions?
That's not going to dovetail well with my attempt to keep a low profile.
Answering the questions that I just asked about where is the media in Chicago dealing with the gun violence there.
Not going to fit well with my low profile effort, not going to fit well here with my effort not to be threatening to people, 24-year-old girls.
Women.
Well, I guess maybe one of the reasons is there is a Democrat mayor in Chicago, and we're not gonna use the media to highlight trouble anywhere where a Democrat runs the show.
Mr. Limbaugh, that is technically absurd.
That is so silly.
I mean the media is highlighting New Town Connecticut and the Democrats run Connecticut and Obama is a Democrat.
Yeah, but he's not the mayor of Newtown.
He's the president of the United States.
Nobody's gonna link Obama to Newtown.
And nobody's gonna care about the mayor of Newtown.
Nobody ever heard of Newtown.
But Chicago can make or break presidential campaigns.
Chicago is in the birthright of the Democrat Party.
I have no doubt that the media is not focusing on Chicago because it's a Democrat stronghold.
And bad things that happen in Democrat strongholds just don't get reported.
Detroit would be another example.
New Orleans would be another example.
Oakland, California, another example.
Wherever you have an absolute societal and cultural mess, the odds are you've had a Democrat or the Democrat Party in total control of the place for years, if not decades, but they're simply not going to go there.
Also, black on black crime, not a news story.
It's not it doesn't advance anybody's agenda.
It doesn't advance anybody's narrative.
It's not that those lives are not worth as much.
It just is not how can you can't blame Republicans for it?
You can't blame the NRA for it.
You can't blame pro-lifers, you can't blame conservatives for the kind of crime happening in Chicago, so you ignore it because the purpose of news today is to eliminate all opposition to Obama.
The purpose of the news today is to find a way to blame Republicans for everything that's happening.
You can't blame the Republicans for anything happening in Chicago.
Not without going to a huge making a huge stretch of things.
Which takes me back to Judy's point.
What hurts children each and every day is parents without jobs.
And what has the president done about that?
Not much.
The universe of jobs available in this country is shrinking.
The labor force participation rate, the number of jobs that exist for people to acquire, is down over two million, maybe two and a half million since Obama was inaugurated in 2009.
We're losing jobs.
The private sector where jobs are created is getting smaller because Obama continues to raise taxes and take money out of the private sector.
The government is growing.
We have run up a six trillion dollar new debt to add to the ten dollar national, ten trillion dollar national debt when Obama assumed office.
We are enriching Washington, D.C. Housing and jobs markets in Washington, DC are going gangbusters.
You want to help children, Mr. President?
Turn the energy sector loose.
Stop opposing fracking.
Get your Party off of this quest to shut down fracking.
If it weren't for fracking, I shudder to think where the energy sector or where the economy in this country would be as it is.
Help parents come up with policies to help parents find good paying jobs.
We got 50 million Americans who are on food stamps, fifteen million more than when Obama took office.
How's that helping kids?
We have more and more fathers nowhere near home.
How is that helping kids?
It doesn't.
A bunch of young men growing up without fathers, without any kind of male or masculine influence, none whatsoever.
How does that help kids?
How is that helping children?
They're worse off.
America's children are worse off these last four years.
Now we want to turn doctors into snitches.
How's that going to cure a sick child?
Now we got maniteo.
Let me swerve into that.
Man Titeo.
This story, this is impossible to get your arms around.
As I understand it, there are three possibilities in this thing.
Is that the way you look at it, Brian?
Well, I know most people are confused, and that's why they're tuned in here, because we're zeroed in on pop culture news.
and And people want to find what is this mantai Teo story anyway?
I looked at various reports of the story today, and I must tell you, again, a reflection of modern journalism.
I don't know much more about this story than I do from reading the headline.
But I've dug deep, and it seems that there are three, maybe four possibilities here to explain what happened.
And we'll get into those when we get back, but I just let me ask a question.
Those of you who have read enough, this hoax, it if it was a hoax.
See, one of the theories is that Man Titeo willingly participated in this.
Well, look, folks, you know what the media machine is today?
You know the quest for fame.
You know how how quickly kids pick things up.
What is the message our country sends?
What is one message among many?
That you can get famous, that you can become well known and get rich if you have a story of heroism about you.
If you've overcome long odds, if you have overcome great dangers, if you have survived and triumphed over great loss.
We also have kids who are very up to speed on the fact that there are spin doctors in this country, that there are crisis managers, and that entire stories can be spun, entire intricate webs of deceit can be created in order to create a personality that doesn't exist, to create a lifestyle that doesn't exist, to create a degree of integrity and honor and character that doesn't exist.
We live in a country where no matter what you tune in today, you really one of the first questions you have is everything happened?
Is that really real?
Because there is so little credibility at any level of so-called journalism today.
So the way I look at the man Tai Teo thing, there are three possibilities to explain what happened.
You're guiding light.
Times of trouble, confusion, murkiness, tumult, distortion, lies, chaos, and even the good times.
Rushlin bought the EIB network at the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
On the mantaio story, I have A question, first off.
Why is this such a huge story?
Well, let's look into this.
This is this kind of stuff that interests me.
Just shorter fascinates me.
Why is this a big story?
Why are the sports media so interested in either humiliating this guy or elevating him to superhero status?
One of the two.
Why are they so eager to dig as deep as necessary to find out if there was a hoax?
Wouldn't it have been nice if the same media had five percent of this type of curiosity about Barack Obama?
The media do the same research on what good works the guy did or any other player, or are we focused only on the potential screw up?
Now I know our culture loves to elevate people and then rip them apart and tear 'em down.
We still have not finished honoring a guy who got repeated Lewinsky's in the Oval Office.
That man today is still held on the highest political pedestal we have.
Bill Clinton is still revered and loved and adored by the very same people who, if they can, will destroy Man Tai Tao.
Why?
Even if this girlfriend's a fake, even if it was a hoax, if it's a fake girlfriend.
How is that a greater transgression than the dishonor that occurred in the highest office in this land and today is rewarded and celebrated and laughed about?
The details are sketchy, but for a year Man Titeo had this girlfriend he never met.
It was an online relationship, complete with knowledge of what she looked like.
Other players claim to know her.
As far as Man Titeo is concerned, goes one version, she was real.
She existed.
She loved him.
He loved her.
These online relationships.
What have you heard about people you're worrying about Facebook and Twitter and so forth that people are not learning to relate to each other interpersonally?
Everything's taking place online.
And then Man Taiteo's devoted and beloved grandmother passes away.
Very near the eve of a big game.
And then a week later the girlfriend dies.
Man Taiteo's girlfriend passed.
Oh no, and he is suffering.
He is depressed and he has distracted the two greatest loves of his life within a week's time have passed away.
And yet he is expected to put on that uniform and get out there and trounce USC.
And he does.
And people herald the guy as great and able to overcome distractions, able to focus, overcome and sweep aside great pain to triumph on the gridiron field of battle.
Then it's discovered that she never existed.
And then the question is, did he know it?
And was he hoaxed and made a fool of, and now oh no, will he never ever trust anybody again?
Or was he part of the hoax?
One theory has it that he was part of the hoax, that he was part of a brilliant spin operation that created the story that always intended the girlfriend to die on the eve of the big game so that he can overcome it and have a great story written about him to enhance his character and draft value for his first real payday in the NFL.
And then it was only a matter of time.
Here's a website called outsports.com.
They ask is Man Tai Teo gay?
Is the girlfriend hoax all about covering up the fact that he's gay?
Because of course there's some prejudice in the NFL about that.
So anyway, I take a break.
Be back.
Don't go anywhere.
The media consensus apparently is that Man Titeo was a victim of a hoax because he's such a gullible guy.
Which they probably will get around to blaming on concussions.
