Time Text
And we are back, folks.
Great to have you.
Rush Limbaugh, the Excellence in Broadcasting Network.
And it is Friday.
Live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida.
It's Open Line Friday.
It's one of my all-time favorite busy broadcast days of the week, Open Line Friday, where we allow callers to talk about what they want to talk about with no concern whether I'm interested in it or not.
Monday through Thursday, you have to talk about something I care about.
But Friday, we broom that out of the way, and whatever you want to talk about is fine.
Telephone number, if you want to join us, is 800-282-2882.
The email address El Rushbo at EIBnet.com.
Grab soundbite.
I'm trying to say too much too quickly.
800-282-2882, the number.
Email Elrushbo, EIBNet.com.
Grab Soundbite 28.
We had to ram this through right at the conclusion the previous hour.
Joe Biden, I don't know if you chalk this up to losing it, but folks, the wheels, no, I better be careful here.
I better be careful.
Well, I was going to say the wheels are coming off.
The wheels are coming off Biden's training wheels.
Let's just put it, this training cycle.
I'm going to pull back on the daily rush feeling.
You know, there are daily tracking polls out there, but there's also my instincts.
Where I am on a daily basis, as it relates to this election and this campaign.
And I have a very solid, I've let it out a number of times in the last six months what I think is going to happen on Election Day.
But I know it makes many of you nervous.
So I'll hold it back here for a while.
But I do want to play this Biden soundbite.
Whether he's losing it or they're just panicked over the top here trying to scare people.
You know, Obama, in each of the three debates, pointedly lied about the size of a tax cut that Romney supposedly has for the rich.
A $5 trillion tax cut.
It's mathematically impossible.
There is no $5 trillion tax cut proposed.
I'd like to see one, actually.
There isn't one.
It doesn't add up.
But Romney's never proposed one.
Not even close.
Even if you factor all of the loopholes and deductions Romney says he wants to close by lowering tax rate, you still don't get to anything that, quote unquote, costs our precious government $5 trillion.
And that ought not be the focus of any economic policy anyway.
The focus of all economic policy should be one thing.
How much money does it put back in the pockets of the American people?
How much money does it put in or leave in or put back in the private sector without first taking it from the private sector, which is what the stimulus did.
Stimulus wasn't a stimulus.
If you're going to inject $878 billion in the private sector, it has to come from there first.
It's a net wash, a net zero.
There wasn't any stimulus.
It's mathematically impossible.
What has to happen here is economic policy that results in more money in a private sector, a growing private sector.
The GDP number is out.
For the third quarter, it's 2%, and it's going to get revised down to 1.8.
Never mind, the regime guaranteed a growth rate of 4.5% by now with their stimulus bill.
We are growing.
It's anemic.
1.8%, there isn't any growth.
There's no job creation whatsoever.
So the regime's only hope is to once again class warfare, class division.
But listen to Biden here.
This figure that he throws out here is just it's impossible to explain.
And this is not, well, even if it is a slip of the tongue, then what caused that?
I think they're off the rails here.
You can't erase what you've already done.
They voted to extend tax cuts for the very wealthy, giving a $500 trillion tax cut to 120,000 families.
$500 trillion tax cut.
There is no $5 trillion tax cut.
A $500 trillion tax cut.
It's beyond the realm of possibility.
It's beyond the realm of reality.
They're just, I don't know.
The reason that I find it hard to say that this is an example of Biden losing it is because I think he did that a long time ago.
I don't think Biden's elevator goes to the top floor for a long time now.
I think Biden has been an order of fries short of a happy meal for months.
I think this is just evidence of that.
I want to go back to the Lena Dunham ad.
We kind of squeezed this in at a haphazard moment on the program today.
This is on Obama's website.
This is a 26-year-old actress seeking young votes for Obama.
And she's asking young women to think of voting for Obama to be like losing her virginity.
Do you want to do it with the right guy?
Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody.
You want to do it with a great guy.
It should be with a guy with beautiful, someone who really cares about and understands women.
Think about how you want to spend those four years.
In college age time, that's 150 years.
It's also super uncool to be out and about.
Someone says, did you vote?
And you go, no, I wasn't ready.
My first time voting was amazing.
It was this line in the sand.
Before I was a girl, now I was a woman.
I went to the polling station.
I pulled back the curtain.
I voted for Barack Obama.
This administration continues to plunge the depths.
There is no depth too low.
They won't go.
But it's all desperation.
There's no agenda.
There is no coordinated effort.
It's just throwing things up against the wall and hoping something sticks.
Stanley Kurtz at National Review Online has a piece on this, Campaign Ads for Women, How Far We Have Fallen.
To show how this is done right, here are a couple of campaign ads in support of an incumbent president, each directed toward women, first an Eisenhower ad in 56, when he links to that ad.
And then he cites a couple of others that are classy ads aimed at the female vote.
Then he talks about this that you just heard.
Lena Dunham's ad comes from a different world.
It is a world in which young unmarried women who expect to stay that way for quite some time have become a core constituency of the Democrat Party.
And remember that animated cartoon with Julia, the ideal Democrat woman, cradle to grave.
Everything she does is because of and with government.
Government is the reason she's born.
Government's the reason that she has a garden.
Government's the reason she got educated.
Garden is the reason she had health care.
Gardener, government's the reason for everything.
And they were proud of it.
This is something that was a campaign ad that was aimed at securing women who want to turn their lives over to government, single women, perpetually, single women who still want to have a kid, but they don't want to be burdened with some lousy husband in the process.
And government will take care of that.
Government will make sure that you get the kid, and government will give you benefits so that you can raise the kid.
And you don't need to find some lout to marry or live with.
And that was the sum total of the Julia ad.
So they are on record, as Kurtz's point, they're on record here as appealing to that kind of woman.
And he points out that here, cultural issues are paramount, and the goal is to come off as cool.
And you do that by flouting convention, which labels the outraged as hopelessly uncool.
And part of the fun for them in doing this ad was to see all of you get outraged and angry and offended.
That's fun.
That's cool.
Because you people aren't hip.
You don't get it.
They are hip.
They are cool.
Obama's cool.
Obama's hip.
Obama laughs at you along with them.
And so not voting for Obama, that's super uncool, too.
And so Obama himself has jumped on this bandwagon, puts Romney down and the Republicans as the equivalent of uncool black and white TV reruns.
And that's where the president's horses and bayonet comment comes from.
From the notion that the America of 30 years ago and 40 years ago, man, how old-fashioned, how uncool, how square, how nerdy was all that?
What Obama is, that's cool.
And it's Kurt's impression or opinion that that's what the Lena Dunham ad is.
But it's, you boil the ad down, it's an ad put out by the regime that I don't know if it's going to work or backfire.
I mean, it's insulting to women.
It again looks at women as monolithic sex machines who want to make sure they've got unending birth control pills and then free trip to Planned Parenthood the next day, all paid for by Obama.
If I were a woman today, this bunch I would feel insulted each and every day, the way they look at women.
All thinking the same way, all wanting the same things.
I think that ad, I mean, some people look at it and they'll think it's cool and it's hip and it's representative of the current modern-day pop culture, but I think it's an insult to women everywhere.
I mean, where the hell is Gloria Snyder?
Gloria, is this what you all have been fighting for all your lives?
An ad like this?
An appeal to women as sex machines?
Is that what feminaziism was all about?
Is that what all the equal pay stuff was all about?
Is that what all the battles were for?
Is that why you wanted to storm your way into every all-male club and all-male institution and everything that you felt you were being discriminated against?
Was this what you were hoping would be the fruition, the result of all of your hard revenue?
You Ivy League liberal women, are you going to put this ad on your Facebook page and are you going to retweet this?
You're going to send it out and you're going to brag about this to all your buddies, all your Ivy League liberal buddies?
Is this what you are?
Is this ad what speaks for you?
Is this ad you see, oh, wow, man, there's Obama.
How cool is this?
Or does it not matter?
It's just if this can beat the Republicans, who cares?
Is this your guy, though?
This is the kind of stuff that you're going to support?
Do you have a desperation sunken to such a new low to get the youth vote that you compare voting for the first time to having sex for the first time?
And you want to do it with a great guy?
I don't know, folks.
I think it's like so much that's been going on two years, but actually four years.
There is an effervescing, a bubbling reaction in the group of people we all call the silent majority that just can't wait to show up on Election Day.
In fact, some of the early voting states, the Republicans, are outnumbering Democrats.
Look, I know it's Open Line Friday, and I got to get to a lot of phone calls.
Let me take a brief time out.
We'll come back and do that.
So don't go away.
Okay, back to the phones we go.
Open line Friday somewhere, North Carolina.
This is John.
Thank you for waiting, sir.
Great to have you with us here.
Hi, Rush.
How are you doing?
Very well.
Thank you.
Oh, it's an honor to speak with you.
I can't tell you how long I've been listening.
But I just wanted to call and tell you that I don't understand how anybody in the military could support this administration.
I currently just got back from Afghanistan, and if I'd have known what I know now before I left, I'd be nervous out of my wits to know that if I go out on a convoy and I get stranded, that nobody's coming for me.
It's just unreal.
That's how you take this, huh?
That's exactly how it is.
I don't see how anybody else could.
Let's put ourselves in the face or in the place of these two Navy SEALs.
They're at the CIA annex.
They see what's going on at the Embassy Consulate.
They see that there's no retaliation.
Nobody's doing anything about it.
They know that everybody in Washington knows, and they ask for permission.
They ask for some sort of response, and they ask for permission to go help, and they're denied three times.
And they went anyway.
Now, my contention, you tell me, you sound like you're uniformed military, right?
Roger that.
I think these guys, these two SEALs, they had to know they were going in with no support and no cover.
They had to think.
Their odds were not good.
And the worst part is if they'd have made it out alive, they'd have been probably court-martialed for direct or byland direct order.
Yeah, even if they survived, they're looking at charges of disobeying orders.
But my point is that they went in there knowing their odds were long.
Oh, right, yeah.
But it's every military person's worst nightmare in the military is being left behind.
Oh, it's a pattern of disrespect toward the military from this administration.
I mean, we were threatened, what, a year or two ago that we weren't going to get paid because they couldn't pass the budget.
We got the lowest raise in a couple decades that we've ever seen, and now it's every man for himself.
I mean, it's just unreal.
Well, I think a lot of people understand that now.
I appreciate your call.
Thanks very much.
I mean, try to illustrate this with a picture.
Do you all remember the picture of Obama and everybody in the situation room while the operation to kill bin Laden was going on?
You remember the picture that they put out?
You had Obama in there in his golf shirt with his official I'm president jacket, and you had the military people, and I think Hillary was in there.
Well, that was the situation room.
And in this Benghazi consulate situation, something very much like that would have been going on during this attack.
This is a seven-hour attack on American property.
It's 9-11.
Something like that, when I say would have been going on under normal circumstances, the odds are that meeting wasn't convened.
The odds are that my point is that did not take place.
Now, Panetta says, we played the audio soundbite earlier.
Well, we didn't have enough intel to really feel confident in committing forces.
You had two Navy SEALs on the ground.
You had two Navy SEALs on site.
They left the CIA annex.
They were in defiance of orders.
I mean, they'd been told to stand down.
They had been told after three requests not to go.
And they went anyway.
It's Charles Woods.
It's one of their fathers, and it's he who has been on the radio recently explaining how all this affected him, his wife.
And the intel clearly could have been provided by these two guys.
Maybe Panetta didn't know they were there.
Maybe they didn't tell anybody they were going since they were in violation of orders or whatever.
It's just unbelievable, unacceptable.
Same time.
Mike, Long Island, great to have you.
Open line Friday.
Hello.
Hey, Russ.
Thanks for taking the call.
This is an incredibly important call for me.
First things first, I'm a Democrat, and I never really was a big fan.
I must say that up front.
I was elected to my town council, a small town on Long Island.
But I'm just astonished at how you've won me over and how critical the truths that you are telling are to the American people right now.
Wait, wait, I want to make sure I'm hearing this.
You are an elected Democrat town council somewhere in Long Island.
Yes.
I'm actually astonished that, quite frankly, you're the only person that I hear out there that's actually telling the American people the truth.
And it's a critical moment, and it's something that I guess I'm indebted to you as an American taxpayer because the Obama playbook has trickled down so importantly to local government that I'm seeing it firsthand.
I mean, my town has been downgraded by Moody's to almost junk bond status.
Yet there is the same mentality.
You know, the town went to a 15% tax increase.
They tried to borrow from the state to wipe out their deficit.
They raised their borrowing for the town by 40% in just a 10-month period.
The responsibility and the stark contrast in the business mentality between the Obama people, I'm going to say Obama people, and the Romney people, is critical right now.
It's incredible.
I mean, the price...
Mike, I need you to hang on.
I've got...
I've got 10 seconds here before a commercial break I have to take.
I'm going to come back, I'm going to continue the, I'm not sure I heard what I heard.
An elected Democrat won over by this program.
I've got to confirm that.
Okay, back we are, Rush Limbaugh, and it's Open Line Friday, and we're back with Mike at Long Island.
Mike, I really appreciate what you're saying.
When does conversion happen, elected Democrat?
This doesn't happen, but not elected Democrats.
A lot of Democrats have called here and reported that they have had their see things a different way, but never an elected Democrat like you.
Well, you know, let's be frank about a number of things.
You know, there are some social issues that you and I may not see eye to eye on, but at the core, I'm a fiscal conservative.
This is a time, you know, I come from the private sector.
You know, the elected spot is just a part-time gig.
But you're responsible for the finances of the city.
You vote on these matters.
And these are times where the average American knows it because they're doing it in their homes.
Municipalities have to understand the same thing in the same way that the president just doesn't get it.
We don't have the money any longer.
You have to do with less.
You can't borrow your way out of these things.
At some point, you have to say no.
And on a municipal level, it's easier to say no, but it just isn't happening.
And it's incredible how it's almost the same playbook.
And when you speak out, you know, because I guess I'm the outspoken one, they come after and they kill you.
The assassination.
They put my business basically out of business.
I've been trying to tell people for, I'll just, the last four years, this is the confinedness to the last four years of Obama.
That he is who he is.
That being Obama means something.
Being a liberal Democrat as Obama is a radical, it means something.
And you can predict it.
It's ideologically based.
You can predict what he's going to do, what his opinion on something is going to be.
You can predict whether you're running up all the debt that he's not concerned about it.
For whatever reason, he wants to add to it.
He doesn't want to reduce it.
He'll say he does, but he doesn't.
It's scary to get into his reasons for it, but it's clear that he's not concerned about it.
Well, that's the part where you won me over.
And I'm grateful to you.
And I mean that because somebody has to tell the truth.
You know, you have a short amount of time during the debates, and Romney, coming from the private sector, tries to articulate it, you know, when he's not being interrupted by the moderator, but he tries to articulate the shift.
It's a philosophical shift that has to happen now because the bigger view, you know, these guys will be gone in three or four years.
We're going to be left holding the bat.
That's exactly right.
And my gratitude to you and where you won me over, and I'm sincere about it, is because of the way you've been telling the truth, the American people need it.
They don't get it from any places anymore.
And, you know, I've made enormous sacrifices because I spoke up.
It probably won't help my town.
But the country, I think, still has a shot at being sad.
Well, ultimately, it will.
That's what I've got the faith that you're speaking up for your town.
Ultimately, it will, because like it has all trickled down to you, it can all trickle down the other way and trickle up, too, once changes start being made.
But did you, look, Mike, I really appreciate your call today, and I appreciate what you're saying.
And I know what you mean.
Folks, when he says that he appreciates my telling the truth, he's not, he's talking about something.
When I describe Obama's intentions, that's what he's talking about.
That's his revelation.
And that's a lot of people can't get their arms around it.
A lot of people can't get their arms around the fact that Obama has intentions that are not good for this country, that do not jive with the traditions and institutions that have made the country great.
That's what he's talking about.
Anybody can tell the truth about Obama's tax policy or his, but the truth about who Obama is is what he's talking about.
And that, Mike, I really appreciate you have made my day.
In fact, HR, James, pick up the phone with him because I've gotten really way behind here.
But ask him what he wants: iPhone 5, iPad, Retina MacBook Pro.
He's a politician.
He might be able to take any of it or all of it.
Who knows?
But ask him, because I really do appreciate the kind words and the perception.
He gets it.
I know exactly what he's talking about.
And did you hear him?
They put his business out of it.
The Democrat Party in his town punished him when he tried to be fiscally responsible because he went against the Apparatchs.
They put his business out of business, and he's one of them.
And all he did was stand up and say, guys, this isn't the right thing to do.
There is no tolerance on that side.
There is no room for disagreement.
Not in the fundamentals.
We'll be back much more straight ahead right after this.
Okay, so here's the latest from the Obama campaign website.
Drudge just put it up on his front page.
It's a picture of Romney in a dunce hat.
This is a campaign for the presidency of the United States of America.
Obama, who just admitted to Jay Leno that math beyond the seventh grade confused him, and we know it does, is now running a picture of Romney sitting on a stool in a dunce cap.
They expect that to work with who?
That appeals to women and independents and the great undecideds and so forth.
That appeals actually to who.
I don't even think it appeals to her, the girl that wants the first-time guy to be here.
Speaking of that, speaking of that, but Lena Dunham, lose your virginity and vote for the right guy, make it the same guy, make it Barack Obama.
If I was as crude as Obama and Biden and his people are, we could make a lot of jokes about that.
Like, well, yeah, how many of you people did vote for Obama the first time and end up getting intercoursed would be the polite, refined way.
How many of you have been intercoursed by Obama?
How many of you did not enjoy your first intercourse by Obama?
And by the way, my friends, I. El Rushman, not surprised, this is who the guy is.
You know, Peggy Noonan has a column out today about the importance of the Denver debate, that that debate, that Obama revealed who he was.
Maybe to her.
This is why this guy from Long Island was, when he tells me that you tell the truth, he's talking about January 16th, 2009.
I said, I hope he fails.
I have known Obama's not the cool, calm, sharp crease in his slacks that all these idiot pundits fell for.
I have known from the beginning who Obama is, and all of you have too.
It's just a question of accepting it.
You can't have a preacher like Reverend Wright for 20 years and not agree with that.
You just can't.
You don't stay in a church for 20 years with a guy that repulses you or that you disagree with or who embarrasses you.
Don't do that.
It was plain as day for anybody who wanted to be honest with themselves about who Obama is.
That debate may have shown it to people for the first time, but to many of us, it wasn't a revelation.
It's who he was.
It's who he's always been.
It's how he's treated Republicans since the get-go.
Anyway, I think Joseph, what is this?
Latrobe?
What is it?
Latrobe, Pennsylvania, spelled T-A-P.
And I knew it had to be Latrobe.
Welcome to the program.
Hi, Rush.
I can't believe I got through.
Thanks for taking my call.
You bet.
Great to have you here.
Hey, I've been a registered Democrat all my life.
Another one.
Yeah, and I'm, well, I'm not no elected official, but you changed me over.
I just started listening to you about three months ago, you and Hannity.
Thank God we got you people out there.
What made you change your mind or start listening three months ago?
I don't know.
Everybody says he was a nut.
And I said, well, if he's a nut, I better listen to him, you know.
Yeah, you know, I would love.
I can't legally do this.
I really can't even legally get too specific.
But I would love to show you our audience ratings from a particular point in time last spring.
And then I would like to show you of that massive increase, how many have held on.
And because they were curious, what the hell is going on on that show?
And they tuned in here, and like you, they found that what they'd heard was going on on this show wasn't going on, that in fact, it's smart, intelligent, true, and enjoyable.
At the same time, that's what you found, my guess is.
This thing in Libya just brings tears to my eyes.
This is military.
I was in in 66.
Megan Kelly just interviewed Mr. Woods.
So I heard that.
He's now moved to television.
He did radio interviews yesterday.
He's now moved to TV.
Remember, Britt Hume earlier this week on Greta said that the media is not doing this story.
They just don't see how it relates to the campaign.
It's not that they're trying to shield Obama or anything.
They don't see how it relates to the campaign.
We got 10 days to go.
This is not really a campaign thing.
I wonder, at what point does this story become fascinating to our paragons of journalism?
This is everybody that's up to speed in this story has their mind around it like you do.
Joseph is outraged and more and more so with every new thing that we learn.
I really appreciate your call.
I thank you very much.
An incredible day.
And I, folks, I feel like I need to apologize to you today for this show.
The callers have been great, but I have, I don't feel like I ever really got focused.
I've had so much stuff coming at me, and today I've not been able to sift through it to get to the essence of it.
Maybe it's sounded fine.
It's just in my mind, it's been an uncoordinated mess.
And if it has been, I apologize.
Won't happen again.
Somebody needs to tell the Obama campaign that a lot of us just don't want to be intercoursed by Obama anymore.
Certainly not in a second term.
One was quite enough.
Remember John Kerry back in 2004 said, I can't believe I'm losing to this idiot.
And now Obama is running.
I can't believe I'm losing to a dunce.
I actually have Romney in a dunce hat on one of their websites.
All of you people have these lofty ideas of who Obama was.
How does that work for you now?
Have a wonderful weekend, folks.
We'll see you Monday.
