Having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.
And again, the telephone number 800-282-2882, the email address, El Rushbo at EIBNet.com.
Yeah, the politico saying that the uh Obama campaign are going to go back to the issue of Romney's tax returns.
And they're going to go back to the issue of Bain Capital.
Folks, I'm telling you, they're out of ideas.
They they're they've they've fired their best guns.
They've fired all their ammo at the Obama campaign.
They what did they think was going to be the turning point?
What uh now I'm having a metal block.
They thought that something, not the 47%.
There was something they thought they were that it might have been the 40s, but it was anyway.
Benghazi happened and it's thrown everything out of kilter now.
So now they're the Bain business, the company that that uh Bain invests in that's outsourcing jobs China is a company called Sensata.
But guess what?
The New York Times is uh reporting the following.
President Obama has as much as a hundred thousand dollars in a state retirement plan that contains shares of sensata technologies.
The same auto parts company controlled by Bain that's closing its Illinois factory.
Obama's an investor.
But the the see the point is that Romney has nothing to do with this decision.
He hasn't been at Bain in 20 years.
Now you notice the campaign, the Obama regime going back to try to tie Romney to Bain.
Isn't it fascinating?
The same people who think Romney is responsible for a company he left twelve years ago are the same people who think that Obama is not responsible for the last four years of the U.S. economy.
Now, how does that work?
I'm I'm telling you, I I don't want to go overboard here in my in my optimism.
Even poor little Ezra Klein, a poor guy, Ezra Klein, he's a is a journalist leader.
He's one of the drive-bys.
He is a young wonder kin.
I mean, this guy's the future of the drive-by media.
He's got a blog and he writes stuff at the Washington Post.
He's got a piece today.
He's worried Obama has no vision.
Obama lost the vision thing.
At least Romney's got a vision.
Romney's got a five-point plan.
Romney's tell people what he's gonna do.
Obama hasn't.
And uh and Ezra's worried, very disappointed.
See that these media they had so much wrapped into Obama.
Boy, he's a fellow liberal.
That means he's wonderful and great.
Obama hasn't hasn't voiced a second term agenda.
He doesn't dare.
He doesn't dare tell people.
All Obama can do is try to frighten people away from Romney.
That's all he's got, folks.
And he hasn't done it.
And that's why they're going back and recycling things.
Here's Morgan Freeman's.
I mentioned this earlier in the program.
This is the uh latest and greatest Obama campaign ad.
Every president inherits challenges.
Few have faced so many.
Four years later, our enemies have been brought to justice.
Our heroes are coming home.
Assembly lines are humming again.
There are still challenges to meet.
Children to educate, a middle class to rebuild.
But the last thing we should do is turn back now.
What the hell does that say?
It says absolutely nothing.
All it does is start whining and making excuses.
Every president in Harold's challenges, few have faced so many.
Yeah, I'd be surprised at George W. Bush.
9-11, he had his own recession.
Ronaldo's Magnus, the four years of Jimmy Carter, the Iranian hostage crisis he had to settle, and fight the Cold War and defeat the Russians, the Soviets.
Oh, these people think they've had it so tough.
Four years later, our enemies have been brought to justice.
The hell they have.
Our enemies are spiking the football.
Zawahiri and Al Qaeda are spiking the football.
Killing our ambassador in Benghazi and three other Americans.
After Obama has said there is no more Al Qaeda.
After Obama has tried to tell everybody he's brought Al Qaeda to its knees.
Aman al Zawayhiri of Al-Qaeda is spiking the football.
Making a mockery.
How do you run an ad?
This is our enemies have been brought to justice.
Our enemies just killed our ambassador.
No one here's a video.
Video may as well have been the trigger.
Tom Brokaw on Meet the Press yesterday.
During the round table, David Gregory said, the issue of the debt, the issue of taxes.
It's important to get the uh big issues here.
Now we have to we have to these final few weeks try to reach some resolution about this revenue issue, uh, which we raise revenue to deal with debt because whether it's Medicare, whether it's dealing with the debt level, uh something we're gonna have to tackle these big issues of debt, Tom.
What do we do, Tom?
You're the big anchor.
What do we do?
Well, expect to hear Governor Romney go after President Obama this time about I want more details about your plan.
You keep harping on me.
I haven't heard the details in your plan as well.
I looked at that debate that we talked about a moment ago.
It was playing last night on C-SPAN, and now President uh now President Obama was saying, look, we've got a deficit of a half a trillion dollars.
I'm gonna get that under control.
Well, this week that deficit is one point one trillion dollars, and it happened on his watch.
He's gonna have to answer for that.
It's every year it's happened on his watch.
You've had a trillion dollar deficit every year for four straight years.
I wonder if he'll take Broco out of the woodshed for this, for pointing out that Obama.
The idea that Obama's gonna get the debt under control is like telling everybody Colonel Sanders going to save the chickens.
It's just not gonna happen.
And Chris Wallace grilled Axlrod on Libya and Romney on Fox News Sunday yesterday.
Chris Wallace said the president made a statement and he went off to a fundraiser or to a campaign stop in Nevada.
Now, before he went to the fundraiser in Nevada, did he meet with his National Security Council, try to sort out these shifting stories?
Because the State Department said they never said it was a spontaneous demonstration, never said it was a video.
Did he meet with the National Security Council before he went campaigning in Nevada?
I assure you that the president was in contact with all those who had information and responsibility in the national security chain about this incident.
Again, let me stress there isn't anyone on this planet who feels a greater sense of responsibility for our diplomats, for our service people, who takes this more personally than the president of the United States.
That's just not believable.
That's the problem.
That's just not believable.
Nobody takes it more seriously than Obama, blaming a video for it, then claiming that nobody told him that there was a request for more security.
He went out and lied for a week.
He sent Susan Rice out to lie for a week.
He sent everybody in his administration out to lie for a week.
He lied to the U.N. about this incident, claiming it was a video.
Knowing all along that it was a terror attack by Al-Qaeda, but he couldn't allow that because he had slain Al-Qaeda.
The moment he took out Osama bin Laden, he took out Al-Qaeda at the same time.
That was the point.
There isn't any more Al-Qaeda, except Al-Qaeda just killed our ambassador.
So what does Obama do?
He exonerates terrorism.
It was a terror attack.
Instead, Obama wants to give them a pass and try to blame it on the guy with the video and send somebody else out to do so.
And here's Axarad said, nobody takes it more seriously, Margaret.
He didn't even answer the 3 a.m. call.
So Chris Wallace says, Did you really believe, Mr. Axelrad?
You really believe that the concern over Libya just politics has been ginned up by the Romney campaign.
I refer you back to the famous 47% tape in the spring where Governor Romney told in private, told his supporters that he was waiting for a crisis, waiting for an incident to jump in on national security, and he did.
He jumped in right away the day of these attacks with half information in a way that was denounced by both Republicans and Democrats.
And there's no doubt That he's working hard to exploit this issue.
I would point to the fact that this morning uh in Bloomberg News, Chris Stevens' dad said that he regretted that people were trying to exploit this issue.
So Wallace here has had enough.
This is the first U.S. ambassador killed since 1979.
Susan Rice came on this show and five others and gave the American people a story turned out not to be true, and you are saying we shouldn't discuss this.
That we should wait for the investigation to be completed.
No, no.
That's what you just said.
That's obviously Chris, calm down.
That's obviously not what I'm saying.
You just said we should follow the later of Chris Stevens file.
I'm happy to discuss it with you.
Uh and I do think that it's worthy of discussion.
I think that's different than the manner in which Governor Romney has conducted himself.
And it's not just me who uh attacked him for the way he handled this.
He was roundly criticized by people from right to left, the Republican establishment and the Democratic.
You're talking about what he said the day after the attacks I don't think anybody is criticizing him for what he's saying now except the Obama campaign.
I'm just telling you that from the beginning, before any facts were known, he was uh cravenly trying to exploit it.
We had the facts.
We had the ambassador dead in a terror attack, and it's been confirmed what Romney was talking about at the time had indeed happened.
This is pathetic.
This is really pathetic.
And here come these straw men again.
Who are these mythical Republicans that ripped into Romney?
Who are they, Mr. Snerdley?
Yeah, a couple of columnists, one for the Wall Street Journal, one from the Weekly Standard.
That's who it is.
The re the the the the uh it was yeah, it was one.
It was Peggy Noonan.
Peggy Noonan has said he shot before he should have uh aimed or whatever the hell.
Spoke up too soon.
We need fewer words.
That was it.
It wasn't all over the place republic.
This is just pathetic.
It's absolutely pathetic.
And and all this while Obama is out.
He's fundraising in the Valley, he's off with Jay-Z's appearing on Letterman.
Let's take a break.
We'll get back to your phone calls when we get back.
I've got a story somewhere that uh Obama, the Obama campaign spent a whole bunch of money building charging stations for Chevrolet vaults at one of our embassies somewhere.
Now the reason that's important is they're running around saying they didn't have the money for security because the Republicans cut the budget.
No, we have the money for additional security in Benghazi.
Yeah, it's a Republican's fault.
Meanwhile, they're spending money for charging stations for for for Chevrolet Volts was in Austria.
That's right, was in Austria, spending money on Chevrolet Volt charging stations in Austria because there is no more Al Qaeda.
Well, Darrell Issa, this is the political just now.
Darrell Isis says the State Department's sitting on two point two billion dollars that could be spent on upgrading security at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide, but that the Obama regime will not spend the money.
He said that they got 2.2 billion dollars.
They won't spend the money.
They spent it on charging stations for vaults in Austria.
But I mean, they're they're really blaming the Republican budget for these attacks on Benghazi, the consulate there, because the Republicans wouldn't authorize any money.
There's not one thing coming out of this man's mouth that is anywhere near the truth.
And in this debate tomorrow, the only chance he's got is to make it about Romney.
I just heard that they're in some sort of a dispute right now.
Apparently it's a town hall, and the uh the ponytail people in the audience asked the questions.
You remember this this is the format back in 1992 he had the ponytail guy who stood up and and and asked Bush and Clinton when they were gonna start acting like our parents and treating us as their children.
And that's when Bush looked at his watch and thought, get me out of here.
And they said he's bored, and Clinton, of course, took the question and ran with it.
Well, one of the things they're disputing is will Candy Crowley have a chance to do follow-ups.
Apparently it's unclear in the format whether Candy Crowley can do follow-ups after the candidates have answered the questions from the audience in the town hall.
Uh the only thing to keep your eye on here is that all Obama can do is turn this on Romney.
He could equate him to Bain, tax cuts, not uh not paying his taxes or what have you.
Because he's got no agenda for the next four years that he can admit to.
And he doesn't want this thing discussing his record in the economy, which Romney will do.
Uh so it's gonna be fascinating to see.
These things are always always interesting.
Here's uh Emily San Francisco.
I'm glad you're waited.
Great to have you on the program.
Hi.
Oh, nice to talk to you again.
I haven't talked to you for some years now.
Uh, but I love to listen to you and thank you for all that you do for us.
You're such a good patriot.
Thank you very much.
Appreciate that.
Uh I was gonna talk about flexibility, and uh what I'm referring to is Biden when he keeps accused you know, he's saying Malarkey, in other words, he's uh saying that Romney is not telling the truth.
But if you'll recall years ago, um Biden wrote a book and he plagiarized that book, he s took word for word from another book, put it uh put uh published a book in his name, and then the literary world called him a liar.
He published an entire it plagiarized an entire career.
Exactly.
Pledge a rise and a b uh a British politician named Neil Kennick.
Yeah, and then another thing about Bain, people should realize that Bain also raised money for churches and universities and many other places that he did good with uh with Bain too.
Uh the b the company.
I look at I uh I could be uh all wet here and m and I'm maybe I'm guilty of too much optimism or what uh I I'm sorry.
I'm just I don't see Obama's attacks on Bain Capitol working.
Now I will admit I don't watch my local media, and as such, I don't see ads.
I have people tell me they are livid as they can be as they watch the Obama ads linking Romney to all this stuff.
I don't watch local news or local channels, so I don't see any of this.
I guess I ought to take some time to watch it just in terms of show prep, but I don't.
I just I don't see it working.
I see it as been there done that.
They already did Bain.
They did Bain back in the primaries, they did Bain early in the season, and maybe their theory is that a whole bunch of people listening and paying attention now that weren't then.
Uh they're gonna tie Romney to Wall Street, the banks, the housing crisis, uh all this stuff.
I just I think it's desperation.
I think it's a sign they got nothing.
And I don't think Romney has to be defensive about Bain at all.
And I don't think any of you need to be defensive about Bain.
I don't like being defensive, period.
I like always being on offense, but I I'm sorry I don't I don't view Obama as there's no enthusiasm.
For Obama, it's all it's all for Romney.
Look, I'm gonna have to shut up here.
I've is I'm I because I'm I'm I'm at risk of going too far the positive direction.
It's too soon to do that.
I don't want to create any overconfidence in people.
But I I think Obama is a has been.
I it's been there done that.
It's if Obama if he hasn't gotten them now, there's nothing he can do.
He's people are running away from Obama.
Okay, that's it.
I'm not uh let's go back to the Emily Thanks.
I appreciate the Andy in Amherst, New Hampshire, welcome to the EIB network.
Hello.
Hi, Rush.
Thanks for taking my call.
You bet.
He heard a very interesting uh radio interview with Fox News contributor David uh Colonel David Hunt yesterday or Friday.
And according to Colonel Hunt, every uh emb embassy uh and consulate in the world in their communications centers has a button that gets pushed should there be an attack on that location.
And uh people that are notified there are in command centers, twelve different command centers, including the White House Situation Room, uh and the State Department and the CIA and military commands around the world.
And that in real time rush in both uh voice and and uh and video people in those command centers hear and see exactly what is happening.
And the question that he has is why did it take you know the attack went on for six hours.
Why did we not make an attempt to send help to the embassy to the consulate in Benghazi?
And uh Colonel Hunt feels that we're getting distracted by talk about the video and talk about you know in intelligence failures, etc.
He says there had to be upwards of a hundred people in these command centers who knew precisely what was happening waiting for instructions.
I was just gonna say maybe the panic button hadn't been hooked up yet.
I mean, it's a new consulate.
Obama uh doesn't take any of this stuff.
So what what what if what if the panic button wasn't operative?
I mean, that that's a big is not Colonel Hunt does not feel Rush that that's a possibility.
That's not a possibility.
Not according to Colonel David Hunt.
So I I just wondered.
And if that's the case, then they hit the panic button, and for six hours nobody cared.
Exactly.
Well, if if if if that's the case, if that's the case, uh, and somebody hit the panic button and nobody reacted for six hours, I wouldn't even want to speculate on because there's no good answer for that.
I appreciate the call very much.
We'll be back.
Don't go away, folks.
Ha!
Welcome back.
El Rush Ball and the excellence in broadcasting network.
Uh I was just telling Mr. Sturdley, I've got this, I've got this big problem here.
It's an attitudinal problem.
I've got to be very, very guarded uh in in things.
I think I have to be very, very guarded.
I don't have to be, I'm enforcing it on myself.
I hear that Obama is going to attack Romney and Bain, and I go big whoop.
And I hear Obama's gonna attack Romney on a 47%.
I go big whoop.
And I hear that Obama's gonna attack Romney on um tax cuts and uh Wall Street.
I go big whoop.
And I go big whoop because Obama's got nothing new.
Everything that I see that they say Obama's gonna hit Romney on, he's already been doing in ads.
Um he hasn't done it, didn't do it in the first debate, he just sort of stood there.
And of course, the question lingering on everybody's mind is this.
Well, what happens if the exact opposite of the first debate happens tomorrow night?
What if Romney comes out and looks like an absolute uninterested arrogant condescending phoning it in kind of idiot, and Obama's the one all revved up and ready to go?
What does that do?
Is that change the dynamic again?
Does that totally wipe out all of the Romney uh enthusiasm?
Does it rev it up for Obama?
Does it take it back to Obama plus eleven in Ohio as we were told it was two weeks ago, which it never was in Ohio?
Obama's never been up nine in Ohio, he's never been up eight in Ohio, he's never been up eleven in Florida, and none of that's ever been true.
But it is a fear people on our side have.
I understand it.
I want to w what magic does Obama have that he hasn't used yet.
What is it?
Or does he just have to show up and be Obama?
Be the Obama of 08.
Hey, you look me.
And this time, I'm gonna make sure those sea levels do fall.
What's he got?
On the other hand, could Romney go out and screw it up no matter what Obama does?
That's a fear people have.
And no matter what Obama does, Romney could do, say, or otherwise something stupid.
And I is a legitimate fears and legitimate concerns.
I just see my problem is problem in quotes.
I don't see any big Obama enthusiasm, and I haven't seen any over two years.
Outside of the media, you don't you you just don't see it.
You media tells us it's there.
The media reports these polls and and all this, but common sense continues to invade my mind.
And we have an economy in the tank that's getting worse.
Every indicator of competence in running this country and domestic policy and foreign policy is non-existent.
We have moratoriums on drilling for oil.
We've got I uh I it's indescribably how how indescribable how bad things are and how bad they have been made by this administration.
Plus the magic that was Obama is no more, and that can never be recaptured.
The Obama of 08 can never be recaptured.
I don't care what happens in the debate tomorrow night.
Obama can never go back to being the Messiah.
He can never go back to being the empty canvas that people can make him be whatever they want him to be because he is something.
He's a dramatic big time failure.
And there's no changing that.
Life is what it is.
Reality is what it is, and there isn't anything that's happened in the last three and a half years that a majority of people want more of.
And I will leave it at that.
That's why I'm sitting here.
I've been frustrated all day, ever since I played these sound bites of these yokels in the media, talking about the magic in this debate being the forty-seven percent comment that Romney made.
The only way is if if I don't even the only way Romney could make this work for them is if he goes out and harps on it, apologizes for it, and steps in it.
Because there's and he's gotten close to doing that on a stump a couple times.
And Ryan in the debate acknowledged that he didn't mean to say it.
Well, Mr. Vice President, I'm sure you understand that many times uh things come out of our mouths a way that they're not intended and so forth.
And clearly the implication is that Romney made a mistake in saying it.
But I still don't see it as the magic bullet that launches Obama back to where he was four years ago.
I see all that enthusiasm now with Romney, crowd size, um enthusiasm among people at the crowd.
Byron York has a piece in his column at the DC examiner.
GOP hopes soar as Romney rolls in Ohio.
Now you read this piece and it makes clear what the Obama strategy has been, although that's not what the story's about, but it illustrates it nevertheless.
It's a massive effort to depress Republicans, a massive effort to suppress Republican vote.
A massive effort to convince Republicans that the race was lost a long time ago, that Romney has never had a chance.
The never-ending polls that oversample the Democrats combined with media reports that Mitt was losing.
And then all of these negative ads that people were supposedly believing.
And Byron's column Here is that this all was working until the debate.
Let me give you a pull quote.
Because I mentioned I mentioned uh earlier.
I'm getting emails from people who tell me they're working the grassroots.
They're knocking on doors already and they're making phone calls.
And they're running into a lot of people who claim they voted for Obama, not going to this time.
And I receive all that with guarded suspicion because you can't make projections from that.
And people desperate for good news will take that and think it means something when you can't know whether it means anything, nationwide or even statewide.
But here's a quote from Byron's piece.
Danielle Lowe, 22-year-old preschool teacher in Lebanon, Ohio, is the quintessential Romney target voter.
In 2008, she was newly eligible to vote, and she chose Obama.
But then I gave birth to my first son, and I knew we needed a change.
We bought a house in 09.
We're struggling every day, my husband and I are.
I just want to see things turn around.
I want to be able to afford to have another kid.
I want to be able to afford to buy a house where we want to live.
And right now with the economy the way it is, we can't do that.
I think Obama tricked me into voting for him, she continued in an impromptu discussion that could have doubled as a Romney ad.
I feel like Obama lied to me.
He made promises he couldn't keep.
He played on my young emotions.
He played on me because I was young and naive.
I didn't know anything about the world.
There are people like this all over the country.
This is a young person, and Byron says, I didn't prompt her.
She just launched.
She said all this on her own.
There wasn't one leading question asked of her.
I believed Obama was going to give us a change.
I just felt like he made a lot of promises, and there's no way he followed through with them.
The point is people bought into that in 2000.
That's what bothered all of us.
Let's admit it.
So many people bought the emptiness and the nothingness that was Obama in 08.
And that's exactly what it was.
And it so many people thought it was substance, drove us crazy.
And it did.
Admit it.
We knew we were looking at a lying empty suit.
We were we knew we were looking at somebody Svengali-like manipulating people who had been set up by six years of intense negative media criticism of all things Republican from George Bush on down.
People were war weary with the rock, and they were been told for six years that a recession was starting when it wasn't for most of those years.
And then here came a guy who was Mr. Magic, who was the instant fix to all of it.
And what did he say?
I'm not I don't see liberals and Democrats, I see Americans.
I don't see red states and blue states, I see Americans.
And I knew, okay, this guy is a liberal, it's a bunch of crap.
He doesn't mean any of this, but people so desperately wanted it, they fell for it.
And it bothered all of us.
Empty suit nothingness was treated as substance.
Well, see, the empty suit nothingness has been exposed now.
And this woman has figured it out on her on her own.
And Byron York's whole piece is made up of people like this.
This woman, though, admits that she was depressed.
And there are a lot of Republicans in his column he quotes who admit being depressed by the media's coverage in the polls and so forth.
And the debate turned them around.
Which I totally believe and understand, but I I don't think those people were not gonna vote.
They're just now feeling confident.
What happens in the mainstream media is important, whether we like it or not.
And so it's indicative what Romney did in the debate was overcome the media, present a side of him that had never been presented before to people who only knew him the way Obama had been presenting him in ads.
But there's there's nothing new that Obama can do.
I gotta take a break, folks.
I'm way long here.
We'll be right back.
Yes, yes, yes, I've got the audio.
I've had it the whole show.
I just didn't want to use this audio that Michelle Obama is out there saying That we're in the midst of a huge recovery.
The radio interview Friday.
I'm not going to insult your intelligence by playing it.
That just that's absurd.
Muchel, my bells, we're in the midst of a huge recovery.
That's right.
And Obama was on the case at Benghazi from the get-go.
Maybe I'm going to have to get my cynicism under control here, folks.
But like, how many of you before the Wisconsin recall, remember those polls?
Neck and neck, too close to call.
Oh my God.
They're gonna there had been two failures previous.
Scott Walker ends up winning that recall in a landslide.
There was no poll that predicted that.
Uh our good friends on the left just have no way of seeing reality.
They have no clue how utterly horribly people look at their guy now.
Okay, big debate tomorrow.
And I think tomorrow I will suggest ways Romney could deal with this 47% comment.
And uh, whatever else happens between now and then we'll be on top of too.
