Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24 7 podcast.
I tell you, I I really hope that Mother Jones pulls down that Romney video pretty fast.
Well, the Palestinians, what he said about the Palestinians not wanting peace, that's got the media as riled up as anything.
The media, the Palestinians are sacred to some people in our news media and the rest of the Democrat Party.
Almost as sacred as Muhammad is to the Islamists.
And if they don't pull that video, our media might start rioting over what Romney said.
Hi, folks.
Hey, what's shaking?
What's happening?
Anything going on out there?
Happy to have you here.
Broadcast excellence.

Okay, let's let's just dive in there.
Romney's in a fundraiser, is it Boca Raton?
I have I think I've mentioned this to you folks a couple of times.
I have attended such fundraisers.
I was not at this one.
But I have been at candidate fundraising.
And I've had I've had meetings with uh with presidential candidates.
And without exception, this is common.
Republican presidential candidates go full metal.
Conservatism when they're talking to donors.
When I when I saw the Romney, he's he's uh when I saw this, the first thing I thought of, all right, we have a golden opportunity.
I don't care how this is being cast by the media.
That's that's predictable.
What are we doing here?
What what is really happening?
This election is about what?
It's about stopping Barack Obama.
That's what this election's about.
And we are hoping that a majority of people agree with us that Barack Obama needs to be stopped.
So here's Romney at the Boca Breton fundraiser, and he happens to be telling these people a s uh certain level of truth, certain level of accuracy.
Now we can debate whether this 47%, I think there's a bunch of people in that 47% that don't want to be there.
I think there's a lot of that 47% that are there because of Obama.
There are a lot.
This is such a golden opportunity.
This is such a golden opportunity.
This could have been could be the opportunity for Romney and for that campaign to finally take the gloves off and take the fear off and just start explaining conservatism, start explaining liberty to people and what it means.
And explain that they don't have to be in that 47%.
There's no reason for them, for everybody to be essentially having given up on their future in this country.
There's no reason for it.
This is to me a br such an opportunity to espouse conservatism and to explain to people.
Now that people are focused on this, now that people are paying attention to it, this is a golden opportunity, and we know Romney's got it in him because he what he said to these people.
I've been sworn to secrecy.
Folks, this is common.
If you knew what Republican president moderate presidential candidates said to their donors, you'd be a little ticked off because you'd wonder why they don't speak that way in public.
They are as conservative as you and I are.
I've spoken to them privately.
The candidates that I see on the campaign trail versus the ones that tell me what they really think, they're two different people.
There is a fear.
There is a fear of being conservative because of what has happened to Romney with this.
They've been sitting on this video for a while.
This goes back to, what, May?
Or what have you.
But the objective here, it hasn't changed.
It's been this way since maybe a couple of days after Obama was inaugurated.
We want to stop Obama.
We have got to get Obama and the Democrats out of power if this country's future is to have any semblance of its past.
We don't want this country to be finished as founded.
We don't want this country to be over.
We don't want 47% of the of the country thinking that there's no hope for them.
We don't want 47% of the country giving up.
And like I say, I don't think all 47% are made up of people who are dependent, but I know what Romney was trying to say to these people.
What he basically was telling these people was that we have reached a crossword, crossroads in this country.
You and I talk about it all the time.
We ask ourselves, okay, have we reached the tipping point?
Just like De Tocqueville said, have we reached the tipping point where more people are comfortable being comfortable being cared for and taken care of than they are providing for themselves?
And we've all feared that this election or thought this election was going to give us the answer to that question.
That's been the fear that we've all had.
Where are we?
There's questions being asked on the conservative blogs when somebody says, how come Romney's not 15 points ahead?
That's what they mean.
What they really mean is, have we lost the country?
We lost the culture.
Have we lost the American work ethic?
Have we lost American optimism?
Have we lost the uh the thing that was talked about all over the Republican convention?
What was the theme of that convention?
Every speaker got up there and talked about how their parents had nothing, came from nothing, and gave the speakers the opportunity, America the opportunity to be the best they could be, using whatever talents and ambition that they had.
This is a gold mine of opportunity that Romney has here.
The real question is, does he have anybody on his staff to tell him?
Does he have anybody in any consultants?
Are they still going to be wallowing in fear over this?
Because it's out there, it's going to have to be dealt with, and it may as well be seized as an opportunity.
Whatever happened to the drive to improve ourselves, whatever happened to the drive to be better today than yesterday, whatever happened to the drive to pursue excellence, whatever happened.
I think it's still there.
That's what EIB is all about.
What EIB is all about is you people don't know.
I am so desirous.
I wish everybody in this country could do well.
I want everybody to experience the abundance and the greatness of this country.
I want everybody to be told how to do it, not told that it can't be done, which is what Obama does.
If anybody ought to be under the microscope, it's Obama.
Obama's tamping down expectations.
Obama's ratcheting up fear.
Obama's the guy whose foreign policy is falling apart.
Obama's the guy who's watching our economy disintegrate.
Obama's the guy whose policies are making it tougher and tougher and tougher for excellence to matter in one's pursuit of life.
Mitt Romney hadn't done anything to anybody.
I happen to know that Romney wants for this country the same thing I want.
When he talks to his donors about these 47% that are locked into Obama, he does it with disappointment, sadness, and maybe a little disgust.
Where everybody analyzing this is wrong is he would love to be able to reach them.
He has not written them off.
He may, he's telling his donors various things.
I do not believe, and I've spoken to Mitt Romney a number of times.
I don't believe he's written them off.
Despite how it sounds.
But if he has, it's a time to forget that.
If he has written them off, this is an opportunity to educate them.
This is an opportunity to inspire them.
This is an opportunity to tell them.
If he's Mitt Romney, tell them what he wants for them.
This is it.
It's sitting there on a silver platter.
It is right there.
It's rate, it's ready for the taking.
But he's got to be able to do it.
He's got to have consultants who are fearless, and we'll let him do it.
These consultants, these people put shackles on these guys and try to get them to make sure they don't make a mistake when they go out and speak.
And look what happens.
Romney says essentially, if you go back, Romney has been saying this in different ways throughout the campaign.
You know, Obama is the guy who's written off voters.
Obama, we've got the column.
What was that guy's name?
Edsel, November 2011.
Wrote a piece, New York Times, the Obama campaign, written off white working class voters, written them off.
Now there's no tape of Obama saying so, but there's a column of one of Obama's supporters saying that that's what the campaign's doing.
And it's been buttressed a couple of other times, and it's clearly factually correct.
You watch the Obama campaign, declared war on anybody making over $200,000 a year.
Obama's out attacking achievement.
Obama's out attempting to stigmatize anybody that has succeeded and is calling them the enemy.
Where's the outrage over that?
I must take a brief time out.
We have all of what Romney said.
I'm going to play it.
You can hear it.
We've got it all.
And some um, of course, I will be able to put it all in context and perspective for you with the correct reaction.
And I'll share with you there's a piece in the weekly standard, a bunch of conservatives dumping on Romney and how he's blown it, and I shouldn't have said it, and now it's all wrong, and uh so I'll tell you what they're saying, and you might think the same thing.
We'll find out what you think, of course, at some point in the program when we go to the phones.
Again, telephone number 800-282-2882.
But this whole objective.
Well, no, they're not saying the 47% don't exist.
They do exist.
What what they're trying to say is that Romney has written them off, that Romney looks at them with disdain.
Romney looks at a bunch of lazy takers, and there's no way to reach them, and that's who Obama wants.
And he's telling his donors that the the spin is that he's telling his donors there's no way you can reach those people, a bunch of slackers, and no way I'm gonna be able to reach them.
I'm not even gonna try, go a different way.
That they're they're they're trying to fill the narrative that Republicans don't care, that Republicans are cold-hearted, mean-spirited, extremist bastards that don't care about the poor.
That's what they're trying to say that Romney's comments prove.
That's why Romney has to get out there and take this by the horns, turn it into a positive and go right for those people since they're now listening.
Especially if they think they've been insulted, even better.
This is the time to go talk to them.
Anyway, it's so easy when I do it, isn't it?
Back after this.
And we're back, Rush Limboa executing a signed host duties flawlessly, zero mistakes, often imitated, never equaled.
Folks, it's um it's it's it's undebatable.
It's inarguable.
Barack Obama is engaging in a war on the rich.
Barack Obama is the one who is engaging in class warfare.
Barack Obama is the one who is trying to profit from dividing people.
Barack Obama, as president and as a campaigner, is doing everything he can to create discord from the have nuts against the haves.
Obama's war on the so-called rich, which is really a war on success, a war on success that has nothing to do with government.
Barack Obama's trying to create this dependence that Romney was talking about.
That's the definition of success for the modern Democrat Party.
As many people depended on government as possible is the objective.
That cements their power.
This creation of need, dependency on the part of as many Americans as possible for government for Obama as saviors.
The Julia video says it all.
That's the model citizen, one totally dependent on government for even a trip to the park to pick flowers for crying out loud.
It is Barack Obama who has divided people.
It's Barack Obama who's created at 47.
Although I will point out that some of the people who are not paying income taxes in this country are not paying them because of Republican ideas such as the earned income tax credit.
One of these areas that Romney's gonna have to be careful.
We can't, you know, he's he's a tax cutter.
So he can't appear to be the enemy of low taxes.
And that's not what he was doing here.
What he was clearly doing, I don't think there's any question, in fact.
It was merely saying, he's telling these donors, he's there with some high rollers in Boca, and he's telling them that his message of low taxes and cutting taxes might not connect with people who aren't paying any.
And that's certainly the truth.
He's running a campaign as a tax cutter.
And he was merely saying his message of low taxes does not connect with people who don't pay any taxes.
Now, the Mother Jones article.
I have it here, the David Corn piece.
It very conveniently and carefully left that part.
This is the same media that always harps on trying to tell us that Obama's being taken out of context.
Romney is being taken out of context here a little bit himself.
Now I'm telling you, my friends, this is a golden opportunity.
It's an opportunity for Romney and the entire conservative establishment, including the conservative media, for once, including inside the beltway conservative media.
It is a time to stop pretending that this is a same old standard election and that something's on the line here.
It's time to start getting with the program.
This is not just the next election.
The future of the country, a financial collapse being averted, is what is on the agenda, this election.
As such, the objective has always been the 2010 midterms.
What were they about?
Stopping Barack Obama.
There wasn't a Republican candidate, people rallying around.
There wasn't even a set of Republican philosophical ideas to rally around.
There were just we got to stop this.
The 2010 midterms, we've got to stop this and look at the landslide turnout that there was for that.
Now, nothing's changed.
It's only gotten worse since 2010.
Same circumstances, same economic circumstances have gotten worse.
Except now that Obamacare is a full-fledged reality that has been sworn into law by the Supreme Court, and there's only one chance of getting rid of it, and it's this election.
There's no reason for the energy, the enthusiasm, the anti-Obama mentality of 2010 to have lessened.
It's it's it's heightened.
Now, there's an added benefit.
We have an opportunity to add what wasn't there in 2010, and that is a Republican candidate with the right philosophical message, which would be conservatism.
And this could be a slam dunk.
And it's just sitting there on a silver platter.
Well, we have to stop overthinking it.
We have to start, we have to stop think tanking this, getting into the uh the metadata, if you will, and just realize what the objective is.
And that is stopping Barack Obama and the Democrat Party.
And as a side benefit, you stop the media temporarily.
In the real world, from the Associated Press coal producer Alpha Natural Resources to cut 1200 jobs, close mines in Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania.
In the real world, our ambassador to Libya is dead.
In the real world, there are protests against this country all over the Middle East.
In the real world, Japan and China.
Don't even want to think about what could happen there.
In the real world, we have an administration that is incompetent and incapable of dealing with circumstances this nation faces as the world's loan superpower.
We have an administration doesn't want that to be the case.
We have an administration that does not want this country to be that big.
This country doesn't deserve to be number one, shouldn't be number one, been number one for too Long.
It's been number one as a result of things that are immoral and unjust.
We have stolen, colonialized, taken whatever, all the resources from around the world that we like.
We've impoverished people.
This is the Obama view.
It's time we found out what this country has made other people live like.
It is Barack Obama who has cemented this division of haves and have nots with the haves getting smaller and smaller and smaller and the have nots growing more and more and more, and they become more and more dependent.
And as such, that 47%.
Righteously indignant, very offended, are paying attention.
They are now listening.
The media's making sure the media's making sure that they're paying attention.
The media is telling them Romney doesn't care about you.
He doesn't care a whit about here's a Romney's chance to not say he cares about them.
Romney's chance to tell them how much he loves them and what he wants for them and for this country.
It's sitting there waiting to be grabbed.
Do not forget my 2010 analogy.
What happened in 2010?
By the way, Obama's still on the defensive.
Everything Romney accuses him of by the guess who's having intel briefings every day now?
Barack Obama.
Guess who's upset about the ChICOMs treating or cheating with us on trade?
Barack Obama.
He's in a total reactive mood.
I'm sure he's a little discombobulated by what's going on in the Mid East.
It's Obama who could be made to be reeling here.
Don't believe what the media's telling you, folks.
Do not.
We have a president here who's reeling.
They know they're vulnerable.
They're looking at things like this video of Obama of Romney at Boca as a as a as a salvation.
They can't do anything but try to disqualify Romney.
They've got no way to build Obama up.
They can't do it.
The magic's gone.
It's over.
2008, long gone.
They have to take Romney out.
Romney cannot allow himself to be taken out.
Golden opportunity here to connect with people who we have always called low information voters.
They think they're not paying attention right now.
Well, they're now.
2010, what happened?
Don't forget this.
This is so important.
2010 was a landslide defeat for Democrats all the way down the ballot to local levels.
There wasn't a Republican in sight, other than on local ballots.
There wasn't a Republican philosophy anywhere in sight or a conservative philosophy.
What was there?
We got to stop Obama.
The Tea Party came into existence on the whole premise of stopping Obama.
That's not changed.
In fact, what has happened now is that we have a candidate and we have a philosophy that that candidate can espouse to go along with we want to stop Obama.
I'm telling you, the polls are all of these mainstream media polls, folks, are dildirecting your attention.
They are not accurately reflecting party registration and percentages in any way, shape, manner, or form.
These polls right now are nowhere close to accurate.
They're designed to dispirit you.
So's this thing today.
They've been holding Jimmy Carter's kid, grandkid came up with this.
Do you know that?
Jimmy Carter's grandson supposedly found this Romney video.
Jimmy Carter's kid, suppose the story goes he is so angry over what conservatives have said about his grandfather, Jimmy Carter, so angry that he wants to get even.
And he's loaded for bear.
And so he found this video somewhere.
Jimmy Carter's grandson.
How hard could this have been to find?
Anyway, I find fine and dandy.
I'm just I'm just telling you, don't forget 2010.
What is this about?
Stopping Barack Obama.
What 2010 proved we don't even need a perfect candidate to do it, folks, is my point.
Hint, hint, wink, wink.
If Obama had been on the ballot in 2010, he'd be gone.
That was landslide.
Something else Romney told those donors in Boca.
Palestinians have no interest in peace.
Oh no, you can't tell that kind of truth either.
Oh, gee.
Oh no, panic city.
They don't.
The Palestinians are not interested in peace.
And the people that support the Palestinians, whoever they are in the middle, they're not interested in peace.
They're interested in victory.
And that for them is no Israel and no Jews.
That's what peace means to them.
No Israel.
That's all they care about.
Romney's right.
Meaning there's no way to have a negotiated peace.
How many thousands of years have people been trying for that, by the way?
To the phones we go.
We're going to start upstate New York with Jim.
I'm glad you called, sir.
Welcome to EIB Network.
Hello.
Hi, Rush.
How are you today?
Very fine.
Thank you.
My name's Tim.
Um I just wanted to say uh thank you for uh for changing the way I look at these politics.
I stuck my head in the sand for so many years.
And I'm a Democrat.
And I've just watched Years and years go by without really getting into what the politics excuse me, we're about.
And just after my kids were born, I realized they need to start getting uh uh really into this to find out what's going on more and more.
And just seeing the way this country has taken such a turn, it's just it's ridiculous.
And I started, I said, okay, if I'm gonna if I'm gonna be a Democrat and I'm gonna start listening to I gotta start listening to the other side.
What's considered the other side?
I said, okay, you know what?
I'm gonna turn on something that I probably never thought I'd turn on, and that was your show.
That's right.
I know I know what happened.
You were you were hooked inside of six weeks.
I wouldn't say six weeks.
It took a little longer than six weeks, because I try to keep an open mind.
No, it means you were resisting.
Yeah, you're right about that.
Yeah, you are resisting.
But you know, regardless, I I just I had to agree.
I found myself agreeing more and more and more.
And I have very limited time to listen to your show, and it's just I try to put it on when I can.
And it is just I I just want to say thank you because you really did change the way I look at what you are going on in politics.
You are more than welcome, and I I I appreciate it.
Thank you very much.
I think, folks, that Tim here in upstate New York is exactly what I'm talking about here.
When I say Tim was a low information voter, I don't mean that Tim's dumb, stupid or inertia.
He just he was a Democrat, and that's all that took.
That's all it matters.
He's a Democrat.
Loyal.
It was a Democrat.
Didn't he didn't even care to find out why he just was.
And then for some reason, some stopped making sense.
And look what happened.
He, on his own, found a way to expose himself to something other than what he had been traditionally devoted to.
And it made a difference.
This is the golden opportunity I'm speaking of that's out there.
That's sitting there on a silver platter.
But I gotta tell you something, Tim.
While I'm flattered, and while you think you are agreeing with me, what you're really agreeing with is reality.
You are you finally have found reality.
My ideas are nothing unique.
I just live in the real world.
I'm the mayor of Realville.
And you haven't heard them before.
Because you were a Democrat.
It's folks, it's what I was talking about yesterday, which that show yesterday was so far ahead of its time.
I guarantee that show, six months from now, people are gonna look back.
And one of the things, when we were talking about the partisan divide and how it's not about policy.
It's not about you know, I've I create this this mythical Silicon Valley CEO, who's bright, obviously, has no policy reason.
No intellectual reason whatsoever to be fundraising for Obama, for bundling for Obama and donating to Obama, much less supporting Obama.
None.
But why does that CEO do so?
Well, if it isn't policy, what is it?
Obama's policies are are gonna kill her company unless she ends up being a crony of Obama's and ends up getting government support like GE got, which maybe she's angling for.
Or maybe she just gets off on being part of the elite circle.
I know the president, president comes to my house, I fundraised.
Could be any, but it ain't policy.
And so if it isn't policy, how do you reach those people?
Well, then you find out what they think of us.
And we're unhip, we're uncool, we're stupid.
I think that's the base.
They they think we're absolute idiots.
It's so uncool to say you're a conservative.
To these people.
To these people.
I'll give you an example.
You know, I read a lot of tech blogs because I am fascinated by tech.
I love it.
I actively physically love high tech and learning it.
So I read a bunch of these blogs.
That's what I do for relaxation.
At the Value Voters Summit over the weekend, Rick Santorum got up and said, among other things, the smart people and the elites are never going to support us.
The smart people and the elites are never going to like us.
That's not in context.
Now you and I know what he meant.
He's talking to other people who know what he meant, the smart people.
That's in quotes.
The elites, the smart people, the people who think they're smarter than everybody else, the arrogant, cocky think they're smarter.
You would not believe how many tech blogs posted on for the first time Santorum ever made sense.
That's right.
Smart people are never gonna like him.
Smart people are never gonna like conservatives.
About time some conservative figured it out was the point on all these tech where you got young people who think that they're progressives, who think they're ahead of their time, who think they're the smartest people in the room, and to them conservatism, I don't know, it it's it just they don't want any part of it because it's embarrassingly dumb and stupid.
So here they come along praising Santorum for finally getting it right, realizing, yeah, bud, you are weird.
You are a nerd and a kook, and we are never gonna want anything to do with you.
And they praised him for finally getting it.
Because what they heard him say was, we're dumb and we're not cool, and the smart people are never gonna like us.
They didn't understand that he meant smart people in quotes.
He didn't they didn't understand that what he was talking about was close-minded bigots.
Arrogant, cocky SOBs who think they are the Katz Meow.
And Santorum was telling his people, don't worry, don't worry.
They're not the smart people.
They're not the elites.
They're self-appointed.
They are not with us culturally.
And he's right.
You know, it used to be it used to be cool to face reality like a man.
Now it's not.
It's being being cool has nothing to do with reality.
Reality's too hard.
Reality's too painful.
Reality requires too much.
I'd rather live in my self-created cocoon, where everything's fine and dandy, and everybody loves everybody, and those who don't are a bunch of idiots that we don't have to spend any time with anyway.
Living in a fantasy world is a cool thing to do.
Avoiding reality.
Anyway, you gotta take a break.
You sit tight, my friends, much more straight ahead here on the EIB network.
Don't go away.
This Romney tape from the fundraiser in Boca Raton.
That's uh, let's see, what was that?
May 17th.
Now, I don't know how long Jimmy Carter's grandkid has had that tape.
But I will bet you they've been sitting on that tape.
I'll bet this tape was not intended to be released right now.
I will bet you that this Romney tape might have been intended as an October surprise, not September.
Like I said, I don't know if they've had it since May 17th when Romney made the comments, but they've certainly had it longer than yesterday.
So the fact that they have released it now.
See, I think it's Obama who's in trouble.
Obama is the guy with the record.
Obama is the guy whose policies are having a detrimental effect on practically everything he touches.
It's Barack Obama who cannot extricate himself from the realities of where this country is and where it is headed.
Romney hasn't had a thing to do with anything that's happened.
And what is happening has been devastating to this country.
And try as hard as they can.
Try as hard as they might.
The left wing, the media, the Democrats cannot find Romney fingerprints on any of this.
Every fingerprint is Barack Obama's, Joe Biden's, Nancy Pelosi's, Harry Reid's, Barney Frank's.
You name it, Eric Holder.
Everything that is happening.
And none of it good is traced nowhere to Mitt Romney.
They needed this distraction this week from the implosion of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East.
And a continuing slide of the United States economy.
Folks, I'm just trying to tell you there are so many ways to see this positively.
There are so many ways to see this and seize this as an opportunity.
Roxboro, North Carolina is our next stop on the phones.
This is Ken.
It's great to have you on the program, sir.
Hello.
Hey, Rush, thanks for taking my call.
You bet.
I just wanted to say, uh, just in case Governor Romney's listening, I'd like to personally appeal to him.
For goodness sakes, you have no choice in the matter now.
Take your Russia's advice.
And deal with this thing head on.
Go on the defensive.
If you take a defensive posture, press and the Democrats.
They'll eat you alive.
Go on offense.
Sees the opportunity.
Listen to me.
Absolutely.
Go for broof.
What do we have to lose?
A lot.
Right.
But if you play defense, you will lose.
I think that's just a foregoing conclusion.
They'll skin you alive.
Well, I agree.
There's just no choice here.
Well, I'll tell you something else to Broom here.
Broom this fear of the independence.
Screw the independence.
We have 47% we're talking about here.
Forty-seven percent is a much bigger universe than whatever the independents are.
Go for this bunch.
Head for them right now.
Tell them how great they can be.
Tell them how crucial they are to making this country work.
Tell them.
Give them some high expectations.
Tell them what's possible.
Barack Obama's not Barack Obama's not touching that.
Barack Obama doesn't want to go anywhere near how great people can be.
He doesn't want to go anywhere near how great this country can be because he doesn't believe in this country's greatness.
He thinks it's unjust.
It was unfairly acquired or achieved.
He's trying to roll it back.
It's folks, I'm telling you.
It is such an opening.
But you have to be able to see it.
You have to, if you don't see it, you have to be convinced of it.
You have to believe it.
From the Republican convention, I know Romney believes it.
And I know that Nikki Haley believes it, and I know that Marco Rubio believes it.
And I know that the governor of New Mexico believes it.
And I know that Sarah Palin believes it.
I know that Trump believes it.
I know that Cliff Eastwood believes it.
And I think Christie does.
Just kidding.
I know that Chris Christie does too.
I just like making it many calls me.
What the hell were you talking about?
I'm just kidding, Governor.
It is.
It is an opportunity.
By the way, this uh this Romney tape, I I I was just informed out there that this thing has been, or it was a Twitter sensation three weeks ago, according to Carter IV himself.
Jimmy Carter's grandson, who's claiming credit for finding this gold, says that it was a Twitter sensation three weeks ago.
So if it was a Twitter sensation three weeks ago, they have been sitting on it.
I don't think they intended to use it now.
I don't think I I think their hand has been uh has been forced.
The clip was uploaded by a YouTube user named Romney Exposed in the late May, and then again in late August by an account called Rachel Maddow eventually made it to BuzzFeed in the Daily Cause.
So this thing, on its own, didn't even cause a ripple.
I gotta take a breath.
Just noticed the clock.
Oh, geez.
Okay, I'm reading about this in the New York Times.
It looks like Carter IV, Jimmy Carter's grandson, uh found this tape earlier than three weeks ago.
The story is he found three weeks ago.
If you read this the way I know how to read the New York Times, it's possible that Carter IV found this thing uh farther back than three weeks.
