Time Text
And greetings, welcome back.
Great to have you.
Rush Limbaugh doing that which I was born to do.
Every day right here behind the Golden EIB microphone at the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
Telephone number 800-282-2882 and the email address, LRushbo at EIBnet.com.
Here it is, QE3, straight from the horse's mouth, the Federal Reserve statement.
Quote, to support a stronger economic recovery and to help ensure that inflation over time is at the rate most consistent with its dual mandate, the committee agreed today to increase policy accommodation by purchasing additional agency mortgage-backed securities at a pace of $40 billion per month.
So there it is.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's basically a bond buying program.
It's being called another aggressive stimulus program, $40 billion of mortgage debt per month.
And they're going to continue to purchase the assets until the outlook for jobs improves substantially, which means that, oh, God.
Well, the outlook for jobs is not going to improve substantially as long as we have policies in place by Barack Obama and the Democrat Party.
So this means forever until the outlook for jobs improves substantially.
So we're basically printing more money, QE3.
And printing money equals inflation equals Zimbabwe, third world.
Stock market loves it.
It's like a sugar high.
Stocks are going to go through the roof.
Stock market is going to love this.
In fact, they already do.
And that'll be fine with Obama.
The optic of the stock market going up will, in his view, hopefully cancel out all the other bad economic news, like the unemployment number today is back up again.
No improvement whatsoever.
In fact, there hasn't been any improvement at all, not even being discussed because Mitt Romney's the big problem in the drive-by money.
That's a huge amount of money.
Why is it necessary to spend $40 billion a month that the private sector is doing so well?
Obama's claim we're coming back.
The whole Democratic Convention, we're roaring back.
We turned a corner.
We've turned the tide.
Whatever.
They're going to purchase these assets until the outlook for Obama's job improves is what that really means.
It's his job they're worried about.
The vote, by the way, was 11 to 1 at the Federal Reserve.
It didn't work.
Well, interesting question.
Sternly said if the other QEs haven't worked, quantitative easing, printing of money, stimulate the economy.
If stimulus one didn't work, if QE1 didn't work, if QE2 didn't work, why will this one?
It won't.
It will create the illusion that things are working with, what, 55 days before the election.
That's all this is.
This, again, this is not designed to revive the economy.
This is designed to revive Obama's election chances.
That's all this is.
You have to look past, and I, as I said in the first hour, it's a campaign contribution is an exact way to look at this.
People aren't going to understand that.
I don't think if you run around and put it that way, people you want to persuade, it may work.
I don't know.
I just, but none of the other QEs have worked to revive the economy.
And this won't either.
But the hope is it revives Obama's electoral chances by creating an impression or optics that there's economic activity.
And of course, there will be in the stock market.
This kind of thing caused the stock market to skyrocket.
Business Insider has a story that gold has spiked.
Stocks are surging to five-year highs today because of this.
So it's all an illusion.
Are you sitting down, folks?
From the Washington Free Beacon, U.S. Marines defending the American embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition.
U.S. Marines defending the American Embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition, limiting their ability to respond to attacks like those this week on the U.S. Consulate in Cairo.
Ambassador to Egypt Ann Patterson, quote, did not permit U.S. Marine Guards to carry live ammo, according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Night Watch.
She neutralized any U.S. military capability.
It was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the embassy.
No live ammo.
You talk about odd rules of engagement.
So why is this happening again?
Let's throw two other things in the mix.
Let's say that you are al-Qaeda or any other terrorist network, and let's say that you also are a mullah in Iran, or you're the Mahmoud Ahmadine Izad, and you're building a nuclear weapon.
You're doing everything you can, and the world suspects it.
The world is convinced.
In fact, they're so convinced that they're doing everything they think they can to stop you from doing it, except they're doing nothing.
Sanctions, big whoop.
The sanctions have been in place to one degree or another, haven't had any impact whatsoever in stopping Iran from building a nuke.
Now, if you're the Iranians, or if you are Al-Qaeda, or any other enemy of the United States, and you watch this, what is your take going to be?
So you add this all up.
You have a president of a political party which for four years actually sounded exactly like the enemies of this country when talking about the Iraq war.
You have a Democrat Party and their presidential candidate, Barack Obama, starting in 2007, beating up the war, beating up the generals who ran the war, as in General Petraeus, doing everything they could to sabotage the credibility of military people, accepting the charges that the Marines were raping people in Haditha.
Folks, this is not insignificant.
You have to put this in the entire timeline to ask why this is happening.
Why do people think that they can get away with attacking our embassies, killing our ambassador?
Why do they think they can do this?
You have Obama bowing all over the world, apologizing for America, trying to make these people understand.
Look, we know why you hate America.
We understand why you have reasons for hating America, but now that we're here, we're going to get rid of those reasons.
It's going to be kumbaya from now.
They're sitting there laughing themselves silly.
And then all this paper tiger stuff about nukes in Iran, nobody doing anything to stop it.
Tell me, what is there that would stop you if you are an enemy of this country?
What would intimidate you?
The Democrat Party, which for so long sounded just like the enemies of this country, is now in power.
Let's add something else to the mix.
Great call that we had yesterday from a woman in New Mexico who wasn't buying the idea that a video or a movie making fun of the Prophet Muhammad could possibly be responsible for these attacks in Cairo and Benghazi.
She says, wait a minute, isn't Obama the guy that's been spiking the ball over killing Osama?
And boy, was she right.
21 times at the Democrat Convention, they made a big deal out of how gutsy and how bullsy and how tough Barack Obama is because he killed Osama.
In fact, that was one of two reasons to re-elect the guy that were given, that and General Motors.
So you put that together with all the protesters in Egypt shouting as they went over the wall, we're all Osamas, Obama.
It led her to believe that they haven't taken kindly to Obama spiking the ball, killing their figurative leader.
They weren't shouting anything about a movie or a video as they went over the wall.
They were shouting about Osama and warning Obama that they're all Osamas.
And then Obama is out bragging that he and he alone is in charge of the kill list when it comes to drone attacks.
So there's a timeline of things here, folks, that all add up to American foreign policy imploding.
American foreign policy falling apart.
American foreign policy not even existing.
And then Hillary Clinton.
Not just Diane Feinstein.
Dianne Feinstein, what does it sound bite if I find it pretty soon coming up?
How could this happen after all we did in Libya after we liberated them, after we got rid of their desperate leader, and they we saved him?
How could they do this?
Here it is.
Audio soundbite night.
This is Dianne Feinstein.
And let me, it was last night this on Aaron Burnett's show on CNN.
It's very hard for me to think that regular Libyans would do this.
People who, you know, wanted to be free.
And we've helped that freedom be achieved, as the secretary has so eloquently stated.
It's very hard for me to think that.
Yeah, how could this happen?
How could all of these regular Libyans, what's a regular Libyan, how could all these regular Libyans do this?
I mean, we liberate.
And Mrs. Clinton today asked, how could this happen in a country we helped liberate, in a city we helped save from destruction?
They're always blindsided by the reaction to their own policies.
It's the question liberals always wail and moan When their stupid policies meet reality, it's the same question Obama kept asking his advisors when they kept bringing him data that the porcupine wasn't creating any shovel-ready jobs.
Do you remember that report?
His advisors were coming in after the stimulus and they were telling him that job crazy didn't happen.
Well, how can that happen?
How can that happen?
We're spending all this money to create jobs.
How can it not happen?
They don't know what they're doing.
It's just that simple.
They are in over their heads.
These are academic theoreticians.
No experience in the real world.
Obama has none.
None.
No experience in the real world doing anything.
Private sector, public sector, Zilch Zero, Nada.
They don't know what they're doing.
They believe that all of their politically correct ideas, if put into action, will solve all these problems.
It's breathtaking to behold.
It's breathtaking to watch this.
I got to take a break.
We'll come back and go to your phones.
We get back.
Don't go anywhere.
That had to be 25.
Greetings and welcome back.
Rushlin bore the EIB.
I intended to go to the phones.
And during the break, four things happened, and I have to mention them to you.
First, I have to correct something.
It was Mrs. Clinton yesterday at the State Department.
It was not today when she said, How can this happen?
It was yesterday.
She said, Today, many Americans are asking.
Indeed, I asked myself, How could this happen?
How could this happen in a country we help liberate?
She's talking about think Libya in a city we help save from destruction.
And Diane Feinstein picked it up last night on TV.
And she then said, This reflects how confounding the world can be and reminded Americans to be clear-eyed in their grief.
They're the ones that are always shocked.
We're not surprised how confounding the world is.
We know that this is a great nation at risk in a dangerous world.
We know there are people that hate us, and it's because of who we are and what we stand for.
It's not because of George W. Bush.
It's not because of Mitt Romney.
It's not because the conservatives in this country.
We are hated because we are free.
We are hated because of the idea that is the United States of America.
We are hated because of our Constitution.
We're hated because Israel is an ally.
We're not hated because of George W. Bush.
We are not hated because there are conservatives in America.
We're not hated because of Mitt Romney.
There are good guys and bad guys in the world.
They seem surprised by that.
They also seem stunned that they can't deal with the bad guys the way they've always believed you deal with bad guys.
Just respect them, be nice to them, accept some blame, basically agree with them.
It's shocking how ignorant these people are, how naive and childish, which adds up to blatantly incompetent.
At the beginning of the program, or very near, I played a soundbite of Obama saying that Egypt was not an ally or an enemy, and I couldn't believe it.
I was incredulous to say that Egypt is not an ally for crying out loud.
Prior to Muslim Brotherhood business, Egypt has always been an ally.
We give them a billion and a half dollars a year.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia, the Arab countries in the Middle East, those are the two strong allies we've always had.
Camp David Accords were with Israel.
So here's the Obama has clarified now.
President Obama didn't intend to single or signal any change in the U.S.-Egypt relationship last night when he said that Egypt is not an ally.
He told the cable today, I don't know what the cable is, it's a website.
Josh Rogan is the reporter.
In an interview with Telemundo last night, Obama said that the U.S. relationship with the new Egyptian government's a work in progress.
Not really an ally, not really an enemy.
I don't think we consider them an ally, but we don't consider them an enemy.
And the comment had Egypt watchers scratching their heads, especially since technically Egypt was designated as a major non-NATO ally in 1989 when Congress first passed a law creating that status.
White House spokesman Tommy Veter told the cable Thursday that the administration is not signaling a change in the status.
People are reading way too much into this.
Ally is a legal term of art.
We didn't mean anything, but they don't know what they're doing, folks.
He shot first and aimed later.
He shot first and aimed later.
So here, this is the guy who doesn't know what he's doing.
This is the guy speaking up when he has no idea what he's saying.
Some of you may like Barack Obama.
I don't know.
Some of you may feel sorry for him.
Some of you may think, I'm telling you, I don't care what you think of him.
He's not qualified for this.
He's just not qualified for this.
And in addition to not being qualified for this guy, he's dangerous.
His assumptions, presumptions that he makes about things are so infantile and so absent any sense of reality.
You couple that with his belief that the United States can be found to be at fault in most anything, or at least partially to blame for most anything.
And his willingness to say it to the bad guys in the world who hate us is not helpful.
And let's see.
Oh, one of my grabs sound like 28.
It's another one.
Michelle Malkin last night on Hannity won a great rant.
She could not believe.
Here's this guy with a big heart, the big heart, big compassion.
He cares more than anybody, empathy.
And he sounded wooden and unconcerned and unaffected by the death in Benghazi.
Sounded perfunctory about it, and a lot of people picked up on that.
So it's damage control time on that.
So this afternoon in Golden, Colorado, at where else, a campaign event, a campaign event.
He is campaigning while all this is going on.
He is fundraising.
He's campaigning.
And Mitt Romney is accused of politicizing this.
Mitt Romney is said to be unqualified and jumping the gun.
Here's Obama trying to walk back this idea that he doesn't care.
What I want all of you to know is that we are going to bring those who killed our fellow Americans to justice.
I want people around the world to hear me to all those who would do us harm.
No act of terror will go unpunished.
As they quiver in fear around the world.
Is he going to let the Marines put live ammo in their guns now?
What does this mean?
See, this is supposed to really scare these people.
They're supposed to be quaking in their boots now.
This is this is dangerous.
And we're back.
Great to have you here.
The Washington Post.
Folks, I'm going to get to the phones here in a minute.
I really, really do mean that.
Intentions are honorable here.
Obama, this is Mark Thiessen, opinion writer, Washington Post.
Obama, this president does not need intel briefers.
Wait till you hear this spin.
We've already got Obama walking back a major gaff.
This statement that Egypt is not an ally, they have been since 1989.
Regardless of the Muslim Brotherhood situation now, they've always been an ally.
Folks, they've had to walk that back now.
This is a major gaffe.
And even foreign policy media people know this.
And that's why they're walking this back, because there are some people who are not in the media laying down for this one.
Now, another complaint about Obama is he hadn't been briefed, right?
We've heard this in the last couple of days that he misses a lot of intelligence briefings.
So the White House has to do something about that.
I mean, here we are in the midst of a total collapse of foreign policy, and the news comes out that he hasn't attended but half of his intelligence briefings.
That's a problem.
That is a real problem.
So the White House has gone into spin mode.
And what they're now telling the media is he doesn't have to go to the briefings because he reads the brief every day.
It's the first thing delivered to him in the residence.
He reads the daily brief.
He doesn't need to be briefed in person by his experts.
He reads it and moves on.
And it's the same guy that I just quoted in the story about walking back the gaff on Egypt being an ally, a guy named Viter, V-I-E-T-O-R, one of the White House, Tommy Viter, might be Viter.
It's V-I-A-T-O-R.
And what this guy said is stunning.
He said, the president doesn't need briefers.
He can forego his daily intelligence meeting because he's among the most sophisticated consumers of intelligence on the planet.
That is smarter than the briefers.
This is what the White House has put out.
Tommy Viter, White House spokesman, trying to explain Obama not attending actual intelligence briefings said he is among the most sophisticated consumers of intelligence on the planet.
And truly sophisticated consumers of intelligence don't see it as a sign of weakness to be briefed by the experts.
This is what Mr. Thiessen is writing.
What do you mean, sophisticated consumers?
Every president's a sophisticated consumer, but they don't think that it's a sign of weakness to be briefed by the experts.
These people are trying to say that Obama's smarter than everybody else that's working for.
And he said it, by the way, during his convention.
As a political director, I know more than my political director does.
I know more than my intelligence people.
He really does think of himself this way.
So that's the spin from the White House to explain his lack of attendance at intelligence briefings.
He doesn't need to.
He reads them.
He's smarter than the briefers.
And he's among the most sophisticated consumers of intelligence on the planet while he's on the campaign trail.
Yeah.
They obviously think it'll help putting this out.
They obviously think this is damage control.
This is the, yeah, they think it'll help.
This is what they still think, yet everybody else still thinks of Obama the way they looked at him in 2008.
Smartest guy around.
Nobody ever been in politics like this before.
Great Uniter, this messianic stuff.
They still buy it.
They're still trying to promote it.
They're still trying.
This whole campaign's based on that.
This whole campaign's based on the fact that Obama hadn't really been president yet.
He'd been too busy fixing a mess.
He had nothing to do with it.
He hadn't breathtaking.
You know, I have to say something here, folks.
And then we're going to go to the phones.
And I myself have asked this question too.
You've heard me ask it.
A lot of people on our side, before all this stuff popped up, how in the world is Romney not running away with this?
And the reason for the question is: the economy's in a tatter.
This guy is obviously woefully inept and incompetent.
Everything he does makes it worse.
The economy is just in horrible shape with no, no sign whatsoever getting better.
How in the world is he still in this?
Remember that question?
I think there's a better question to ask that puts this in better perspective.
Why isn't Obama up 20 points in the polls right now?
That's the real question.
The Federal Reserve is propping up Barack Obama.
The media is propping up Barack Obama.
I mean, like they haven't propped up a candidate ever.
Hollywood is propping up Barack Obama.
Bill Clinton is propping up Barack Obama.
Michelle Mybelle Obama is propping up Barack Obama.
Everybody, every institution, academia propping up Barack Obama.
Why isn't he up 20 points with all of this assistance and all of this propping up?
The fact is, the polls now say this election is close.
It's still, the polls say it's up for grabs again.
Whatever convention bouncer was is gone.
The real question is not why isn't Romney up 15 or 20?
The real question is, how is Romney so close given all the forces aligned and arrayed against him?
And by the same token, how is it that Obama is not 20 points ahead?
Can you imagine if our candidate had this kind of assistance, the media being totally in the tank and every story not just being favorable about you, but every story also attempting to destroy the opponent?
And Hollywood on our side, entertainment TV on our side, MTV on our side, all the late night comics on our side, everything in pop culture on our side for our candidate.
And if we weren't up by 20 points, we would be shocked.
We wouldn't know what to do with that anyway.
But it, I think, illustrates the question: how is Romney still in this, given all that?
And therein lies a reason why you should be optimistic.
Because with all these forces arrayed against Romney, he should have been taken out by now.
I'm talking about in polls, Romney should be so far down as to be in a place where he couldn't recover.
With all of this, all this opposition, all this propping up of Obama, and yet where they're worried and where they're scared is in the White House.
Where they're worried and where they're scared is in the Obama campaign.
Now, throw this foreign policy mess on top of it, and we may have a tipping point here.
Okay, now to the phones.
Ken, Hilton Head, South Carolina.
I really, more than you know, appreciate your patience.
Hello, sir.
Well, thank you very much, sir, and top of the afternoon to you, or the middle of the airport.
Yeah, top when you called.
I may lose you because my battery and my phone's going crazy, but you do remember regarding the outrage that Hillary and the media and Obama have had regarding this terrible person that nobody's ever heard of using his own money, supposedly did an internet video critical of the Prophet Muhammad.
You do remember back when the National Endowment for the Arts, their favorite organization, was putting out trash trashing the Christians, how much they were upset and decrying that.
There went the battery.
There went the battery.
Obviously, using a Samsung phone.
Just kidding.
I'm just, we love Samsung here.
I'm just kidding.
He's got a good point.
Piss Christ, remember that?
Andres Serrano is a work of art, a crucifix in a jar of urine, and it was called Piss Christ.
I can say that because that's what the title was.
And it was celebrated.
It was art we should all see.
We should endeavor to understand it.
Maple Thorpe was doing odd SNM pictures, wasn't he?
Whips and chains and stuff.
But you had Carol Finley, who was covering her naked body in chocolate, doing performance art, mocking Christians.
And the government, by the way, funded Piss Christ.
It was a government grant that allowed.
And by the way, what kind of money did you need anyway to get a crucifix and a mason jar and some urine?
How much did that possibly cost?
His point is, before his Samsung battery died, before his cell phone battery died, his point was, hey, you can mock Christians and you can make fun of them all day long.
And the same people who are acting outraged over this stupid YouTube thing are the ones who do it.
They're the ones who mock Christians.
They want to take every Christian sign out of the public display.
The Nativity scene, the Christmas tree is under assault or has been.
And yet you don't see Christians reacting as mobs using violence.
But somehow when other religions do, we've got to stop and understand it.
And we've got to explain to them, well, you have to understand that we have some real kooks in our country, but we have this thing called the Constitution.
And we agree with you.
If we could find a way to shut them up and put them in jail and torture them, we would, but we can't yet.
It just, I'll have a little bit more flexibility on this after my election.
Just like I told Med Vedov, I had to tell Vlad, you know, hang in there with me.
I'll have a little bit more flexibility in denuking America after I win the election.
Just have him be patient.
Same thing with these kooks.
Once I win re-election, then I'll be able to do something about these clowns and their videos and these preachers.
But right now, we've got this Constitution.
You just got to understand that we can't behead people yet.
Quick timeout.
Don't go away.
We're just sharing with you Mark Thiessen's piece in the Washington Post.
That'd be Washington Post for those of you in Rio Linda.
In which White House is putting out the idea that Obama is the most sophisticated consumer of intelligence ever, and he doesn't need to be briefed by his intelligence experts.
He reads the brief every day.
He's more briefed.
He's more knowledgeable than anybody else about it.
And he's the most sophisticated consumer of this stuff.
So he doesn't need to actually see people.
Well, along those lines, Michael Lewis, the famed author, Blindside was one of his books.
He's on with Charlie Rose last night, and he's got a piece on Obama coming out in Vanity Fair.
And Charlie Rose said, Tell me, Michael, Tom Brook and I were talking.
We really don't know the guy.
We don't know what books he reads.
We don't know who his mentors are.
We really, it's been five years, Michael.
We were just talking the other day.
We still don't know who the guy is.
Tell me, how does his mind work?
He's bright.
He's obviously bright.
It's interesting to see someone of his abilities because he's a person of kind of high abilities in that office because the office is beyond anybody's abilities.
There's no way you are anything but the amateur in the room on most subjects.
You've got these experts coming at you.
And I think his mind is good enough that he might sometimes deceive himself and thinking that he's always the smartest person in the room.
He thinks he's the smartest person in the room, deceiving himself, thinking he's the smartest person in the room.
Hadn't that always been something I've said about him?
But here again is the assumption.
Oh, he's smart.
Oh, oh, Charlie.
Oh, he's high abilities.
He's bright, obviously bright, Charlie.
Where's the evidence?
Would somebody show me the evidence of this?
And we're going to go back to the groove yard of Forgotten Favorites.
One of everybody's favorite audio soundbites of all time.
Mrs. Clinton, back in the days when the Democrats started speaking out loudly and publicly about the war in Iraq, back when it all started, 2004, 2005, they were just getting jimmed up, and people were starting to say it may not be good.
You know, politics ends at the water's edge.
When it comes to war, we're supposed to be united.
Mrs. Clinton, I don't think that you, and she was, this is back in the heady days when she was going to be the Democrat nominee.
And this was, I forget where, someplace in the Northeast, it was a campaign appearance.
Remember this, and keep in mind as you listen to this, that the whole media narrative yesterday and today is that Romney shouldn't have said a thing.
Shut up.
He doesn't know what he's doing.
He doesn't know what he's saying.
He's shooting before he's aiming.
But Mrs. Clinton had a whole different approach.
I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic and we should stand up and say, we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.
When I first heard that, well, never mind.
But that's Hillary Clinton.
What's the year on that, Mike?
Do you have it on the transcript sheet in front of you?
It's 2003, June of 2003.
It's exactly when I thought it was.
April, 2003.
It's exactly when I thought it was.
April, May, June, 2003.
But Romney, of course, can't say a word.
He's shooting four Ames.
Here's Yvonne in El Paso.
Yvonne Great.
You know, I fly over El Paso every time I go to L.A., the route takes us right over El Paso.
As we go over El Paso, I think of Marty Robbins.
Oh, yeah.
One of my favorites.
I bet.
Well, welcome to where the left coach starts, actually.
We're a highly Democrat place.
And oh, Rush, I've been trying to talk to you for so long.
I was beginning to think that you were discriminating against best white Hispanics.
No way.
Don't even think that, much less say it.
I know.
I love you.
But anyway, to get to my point, you know, if the 60 Minutes reporter was any kind of self-respecting journalist, he would have asked Obama, you know, talk about shooting before aiming.
Weren't you the one that was supporting dissidents in Egypt and helping with getting rid of Mubarak without knowing who they were?
No.
Look at another brilliant point from a female caller in the audience of this program.
That is an excellent point.
We touched on it a little bit yesterday.
All of this happened because Obama encouraged it.
He even tried to equate this Arab Spring and the uprising in Tahriri Square with his 2008 campaign.
He even had Nick Robertson of CNN running around asking the Muslim Brotherhood guys what they thought of Obama.
Cookie, get that one from the archive.
We got to go back and get that because you're exactly right.
You talk about aiming before you're shooting.
Obama is the guy who gave us this in Egypt, supporting it long before he knew what it was.
That, I think, is open to debate.
I think Obama knew who the Muslim Brotherhood was, and I think he preferred them over Mubarak.
But that's another thing.
Amazing.
Two days in a row, women with a couple of brilliant points.
And in one case, reminding me that I had made a brilliant point earlier.
Export Selection
