Time Text
Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
So let me tell you what's happening out there, folks.
I'm going to give you a timeline here in just a second, and I'm going to tell you things that you probably don't know about what's happening in the Middle East.
And I'm going to tell you why it's happening and why idiots are wrong about why it's happening.
But what really is going on right?
There is a coordinated effort by the media in coordination with the White House to turn this story, which what is this about?
This I'm trying to be calm, cool, collected reserve professional.
We're in the midst of a disaster.
This is a full-fledged foreign policy disaster.
From the moment Embassy Cairo put that statement out yesterday before any of this happened.
It's the most amazing thing.
It is a pre-apology.
And I it it's it's it's it apparently was autonomous.
I'll read it to you in just a second.
What they're what they're trying to do is make all of this about Romney.
We're in the midst of a genuine second term of Jimmy Carter, anybody?
1979, anybody.
We're in the middle of an absolute disaster.
A foreign policy disaster.
And there's a coordinated effort to make it about Romney and whether or not he should speak, whether or not he should say anything about it, whether or not it's presidential for Romney.
We're only supposed to have one president now at times like this.
Well, we don't have one unless Romney speaks up.
And that's the sad reality.
Greetings, my friends, and welcome.
Rush Limbaugh EIB Network, the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
Here's the telephone number.com.
Here's here's the general time frame.
Our embassy in Cairo issued an apology preemptively on behalf of private U.S. citizens and whatever they might say, and they did this on 9-11.
I want to read to you the statement.
The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.
As we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions.
Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terror attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy.
Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy, except for the Catholic Church when it comes to abortion.
And then the U.S. government doesn't give a rat's rear end.
We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.
Now, what is that about?
Well, it turns out it's about two things.
Now remember, this statement was issued before anything had happened.
Nothing had happened yet.
It was their 9-11 statement from Embassy Cairo.
Well, there are two things going on.
This is gonna you're not gonna believe this.
The first is that some guy is making a movie about the Prophet Muhammad that is unflattering.
And he's using his First Amendment free speech free speech rights to do it.
People have seen trailers of the movie.
It's it's it is what it is, it's apparently highly offensive.
And so this statement is put out to cover for that and to criticize that American for doing this.
They didn't name him, they didn't identify what project, But that's one of the two that they're upset about.
So our embassy in Cairo puts out a statement condemning Americans who would utilize and use their First Amendment rights, their free speech rights, to say something to make a movie, to apologize to Muslims in advance for it.
The second thing, get this.
There are also people who believe that the Reverend Terry Jones is to blame for this.
The preacher in Gainesville, Florida, who at one time threatened to burn the Quran and was talked out of it.
There are actually people who believe that this happened yesterday because of an American preacher, and whatever he says thinks or has alluded to perhaps doing involving Islam.
Now, what does that mean?
That means that we are to accept the notion that any criticism of this religion justifiably makes these people nuts and they attack our embassy and then they kill our ambassador, and we've got it.
It's his fault.
It's not theirs.
It's not the militant Islamists' fault.
No, no, they're sitting there minding their own business.
9-11, they don't even remember what the significance of the date is.
They hear about the movie, they hear about the preacher, and they go nuts at our embassy.
We're supposed to believe this.
This is your administration, folks.
This is what they believe, and this is what Embassy Cairo means when they say the Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.
That is a condemnation of Americans.
Misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims, thereby justifying, for all intents and purposes, whatever actions Muslims with hurt feelings take after this.
The fact of the matter is that this would have happened on 9-11.
I'm convinced this was going to happen anyway.
It doesn't matter about the movie, it doesn't matter about Terry Jones.
I don't, I don't think I don't think this was about the movie at all.
I don't think this is about Terry Jones at all.
And I'm shocked that there are reasonable Americans who want to lay blame for this on Americans.
And thereby accept the notion that there are Americans abusing free speech rights, and therefore Embassy Cairo had justified in this embarrassing statement that they put out.
So they put the statement on, and what's that supposed to do?
And it's supposed to mollify the militant Islamists and keep them at bay and say, look, it's 9-11, and we understand.
Meanwhile, these people are outside our embassy shouting, we're all Osama's Obama.
There are millions of Osama's Obama.
They weren't talking about the guy making the movie, and they weren't talking about Terry Jones.
So that's the first thing that happened.
That statement goes out.
Apologizing in advance for private U.S. citizens exercising their free speech.
Then the protests intensify into attacks on our embassy in Cairo and our consulate in Benghazi in Libya.
Romney speaks up and calls the Cairo embassy response disgraceful.
We then discover that there are murders that have taken place of Americans in Benghazi, including the ambassador.
After that happens, the Obama administration disavows the Cairo embassy statement that I just read you.
And after that, the Obama campaign sent one of their flax out to shame Romney for politicizing what happened at the embassy in Libya.
Thereby getting the ball rolling on this whole idea that Romney ought to shut up.
That Romney shouldn't be talking about this.
That Romney jumped the gun, that Romney used the death of Americans as a campaign aid.
And violated this you've heard this before, this sacred politics ends at the water's edge.
Tell the Democrats that during the war in Iraq.
Politics ends at the water's edge.
Except, see, that's not what happened.
Cairo puts out this statement that I just read to you.
And once the media gets hold of this and and starts reporting it, somebody has to speak up.
It is outrageous.
It's disgraceful.
It's exactly what Romney said.
So, to review, on 9 11, our embassy is attacked.
A press release is issued before the attack, apologizing for a private citizen exercising his free speech in our own country.
After the embassy is attacked, the State Department spokeswoman essentially endorsed the earlier release, but they disavowed it first.
They said it stands.
Actually, what happened was Embassy Cairo issues that statement, Washington disavows it, Embassy Cairo tweets, no, it still stands.
The operative part of our statement about being embarrassed over what Americans are doing to hurt the feelings of Muslims, that still stands.
Throughout all of this, all of this is yesterday and last night.
Throughout all of it, Obama has said nothing.
Throughout all of this, the president of the United States hasn't said anything.
Our Libyan consulate is hit.
Four murdered there, including our ambassador.
Obama doesn't say anything about it until about 11 o'clock Eastern time this morning.
And the media is totally obsessed with what Romney's doing and how Romney is wrong.
And Romney jumped the gun.
And there's only one president and Romney isn't it.
Folks, I remember the campaign in 1980.
I remember Ronald Reagan hitting Jimmy Carter, who was the sitting president every day for his incompetence involving the Iranian hostage crisis.
Politics stopping at the water's edge money.
All that's happening here is that the people on the left understand that we're dealing.
How about isn't it funny?
Remember, nobody cares about foreign policy.
Not a big deal in this campaign.
And even if it is a big deal, Obama's the clear, clear superior leader.
It would just make more people vote for Obama.
He's just a whiz at foreign policy.
He's made the world love it.
Obama gave us this.
Obama gave us the Arab Spring, which is turned into what happened yesterday.
Obama praised it, sanctioned it, even tried to claim that they came about, the Arab Spring and the Brotherhood were using the same tactics he used in his 08 campaign.
He at one time was trying to make it sound like there was solidarity between him and this democratic freedom fighters, the Muslim Brotherhood.
We're dealing with Islamist supremacists.
And they are the mainstream.
They are not the fringe.
These people that killed the ambassador yesterday, the people.
And by the way, they were let in.
You you know how you may not know.
You can't get into an American embassy.
There are Marines, there are local police.
You just can't, you can't get over the wall, rip down the flag, set it a fire, unless somebody lets you in.
That's a question I have.
Who let them in?
They were on the grounds.
I've got the news reports.
They were on the grounds over the wall of our embassy for a significant period of time, loitering around.
They weren't trying to get into the actual embassy, but they were on the grounds at Compound.
How did they had to be let in?
Or it is perhaps that they just weren't stopped.
I don't want to convey the impression somebody opened a door for them.
They went over the wall, but nobody stopped them.
And they were able to get to the flag, ripping down, try to set it on fire, raise the Al Qaeda flag.
That just that just doesn't happen.
Now, if You move over to Libya.
When that happens, there is a procedure in place to transfer the ambassador and his high level aids to a different location for his safety and security, which happened.
CBS, no less than CBS is reporting the following.
Brace yourselves.
Libyan officials moved our ambassador to a secure location and then told the mob where they took him.
And that's how the mob knew where he was.
That's how the mob knew where to go to kill our ambassador because the Libyan officials who moved him to the secure place, according to CBS, then told the mob where he was.
Then to add insult to injury, we have to listen, honest to God, folks, Mrs. Clinton and Obama this morning praised the Libyans for trying to save our ambassador.
These pictures that you've seen with the ambassador upside down, half naked being carried over somebody's shoulder.
We're told that, yeah, our friends in Libya were taking him to the hospital.
They paraded our ambassador around, taking him to the hospital.
How stupid do they think we are?
And meanwhile, all of this is about Romney.
And they're trying to do to Romney here exactly what they did when he went to Europe, went to Europe, the uh Olympics, and then over to Poland, and they tried to make that trip into one giant gaff after gaff after gaffe, and their success with the lies about Romney's disastrous trip have given them the courage to try it again with this latest lie.
Not one of the protesters, not one of the rioters was shot.
Only Americans ended up being shot.
How's that happen?
You think this had happened on 9-11, 2002?
You think this would have happened on 9-11, 2007.
You think it would have happened on uh 9-11, 2009, probably more likely than Obama only in office for barely a year.
But folks, we're we're we're in the middle here of a full-fledged disaster.
I'm not surprised that a failed administration would try to divert all of this on Romney and steer everybody.
He shouldn't be speaking.
That's not very nice.
Not very nice as a presidential campaign.
Politics in his the water such.
What does he think he is?
He has no business speaking.
They're worried because he looked presidential.
He also took questions, which Obama didn't, but he looked presidential at Muggsham.
And then lo and behold, there you go, right to Fox.
You find a predictable people on our size saying he really he doesn't know.
He shouldn't be speaking.
It was so, you know, sometimes there's just one president and one voice, and Romney isn't it, and he shouldn't have.
You people ever heard of Ronald Reagan.
I gotta take a break here, folks, but we will be right back.
Here's the CBS story.
So there is no doubt about this.
Military officials told CBS News an anti-terrorism team of U.S. Marines was being deployed to Libya to help secure U.S. interests in the country following the attack.
State Department said, however, that no Americans were remaining in the facility at Benghazi.
State officials would not confirm how many Americans were evacuated or to where.
Juanis al-Sharef, a Libyan interior ministry official in Benghazi, said the four Americans were killed when the angry mob, which gathered to protest a U.S.-made movie that ridicules the prophet, fired guns and burned down the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
Wallace or one ES al-Sharef said that Stevens, the ambassador, and 52 or 52 years of age and other officials were moved to a second building deemed safer after the initial wave of protests at the consulate.
According to Al-Sharef, members of the Libyan security team seemed to have indicated To the protesters, the building to which the American officials had been relocated, and that building then came under attack.
So the Libyan, our friends in Libya followed procedure and removed our ambassador to the prearranged security location, the second building away from where the primary attack was taking place.
And then they told the mob where they took him.
The mob went and they killed him.
And today we had to listen to Mrs. Clinton.
I've got the audio coming up.
And the president of the United States praised the Libyans for trying to carry our ambassador to the hospital.
I don't know if you've seen any pictures of our ambassador being carried, but I've never seen somebody carried upside down over the shoulder, half naked to the hospital.
It's an amazing thing.
Oh, and meanwhile, folks, remember, it's all about whether Romney jumped the gun today by even talking about it.
Addressing a crowd at a picnic in Racine, West Virginia, John Kerry, who, by the way, served in Vietnam, devoted almost his entire 27 minute speech to a critique of George W. Bush.
Oh, wait a minute, never mind.
What I meant is this Kerry has called Romney irresponsible, callous, and reckless.
And furthermore, John Kerry called on Romney to apologize.
This is a guy who called our soldiers in Iraq savages.
Who agreed that they were terrorists, called our troops terrorists, agreed that they were rapists, the Marines and Hadith.
Illegally negotiated with Viet Cong during the Vietnam War, John Kerry calling Romney irresponsible.
Unbiased journalist David Gregory just tweeted, he's the host of Meet the Press.
Romney appears to have launched a political attack even before facts of the embassy violence were known, and then uses the data issue vague foreign policy vision.
So here we are in the midst of an utter foreign policy meltdown.
This what happened yesterday in Cairo and in Libya is demonstrative.
It's illustrative of the absolute lack of a foreign policy that we have.
That statement, I'm gonna I have to read this to you again.
This statement put out in advance of any violence.
I guarantee you the PC crowd at Embassy Cairo actually thought that this would prevent some violence.
They thought apologizing in advance would mollify the mob.
What here's another, it's it's 9-11.
What do these people not get that this is a day Al-Qaeda celebrates?
This is a day that militant Islamists celebrate?
Should our embassies not have been on double triple security detailed preparedness.
Meanwhile, we obviously have a bunch of politically correct, chickafied people in that embassy Cairo, and here again uh this statement just boggles my mind.
The embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.
Well, you know, when I hear Mahmood Ahmadini Zad claimed wants to wipe out Israel, that hurts my feelings.
What is this hurt feelings business?
Does hurt feelings justify terrorism?
Is that what Embassy Cairo believes?
And we must therefore avoid hurting their feelings, otherwise we should expect what we get.
I heard Mrs. Clinton say she was shocked that this happened.
And I remember Jimmy Carter saying he was shocked that the Soviets invaded Afghanistan.
The liberals are always shocked that the people they think are their friends behave as they do.
They're stunned.
I'll bet you at levels of our State Department, they can't believe what happened here.
We've gone out of the way.
We gave Egypt to the Muslim Brotherhood.
We helped them take it over.
We help them get rid of Mubarak, and we give them one and a half billion dollars a year.
And then they did this.
I guarantee you we got some people scratching their heads.
Well, we're so nice to them and we respect their feelings.
Why we even apologize for the bigots in the United States in advance?
And they still did this.
I guarantee you there are people inside that embassy scratching their heads talking to each other like that.
How else do you put out a statement?
The embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals in America to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.
As we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions.
Except again, I must add the Catholic Church.
We'll hurt their feelings and we'll make them violate their closest held beliefs.
We don't care about the feelings of people of the Catholic Church.
And apparently we don't feeling about the uh have any feelings about the cop Christians in Egypt either.
How would you like to be a coped Christian in Egypt, Cairo?
See what happened yesterday.
The U.S. Embassy can't even protect itself.
How's it going to protect you?
And then you go over to Libya and you find the U.S. embassy there.
The consulate can't protect itself.
And after all this happens, guess who the bad guy is?
Mitt Romney.
Who's the only guy that looked presidential in all of this?
Who had the guts to go out and characterize this statement from the embassy accurately?
And the media now saying that Romney jumped the gun, launched a political attack before the facts of the embassy violence were known, and then issues a vague foreign policy vision.
I we can't find it.
I was I was told earlier today, you know, Romney took questions today.
I was told that there was an open mic and that the media at the Romney event could be heard coordinating their attack questions for him.
But we can't find it.
We've looked everywhere.
I've I've I've been told it aired someplace, but we cannot find it.
And I wish we could.
I would love to be able to play that for you, but we can't find it.
Media actually coordinating their questions.
For Romney.
Well, it was the same question over and over again.
Do you feel you jumped a gun?
You think you jumped the gun?
How do you feel about jumping the gun?
Why did you want to jump the gun?
Have you jumped the gun on this, do you think?
Are you speaking out too soon?
Don't you think you should shut up?
I mean, you're not the president.
Politics ends at the water's edge, all of that uh stuff.
So it's it's it's a full court press to protect Obama.
And I guarantee you these people full well understand that this is incompetence on parade, but they don't care.
Because the bigger enemy to these people is us, folks.
You and I, conservatives slash Republicans, are a greater threat to them and their power than Al Qaeda, a bunch of protesters in Egypt or Libya.
We pose a much greater threat.
Uh Romney just can't win.
It can't happen.
It cannot be allowed to happen.
Obama cannot lose.
We cannot allow that.
That doesn't matter.
Doesn't matter what he does to the economy, it doesn't matter that we're going to financially implode in 18 months, two years, fiscally, financially collapse, doesn't matter.
We can't lose.
We cannot have the Republicans in charge.
We just can't.
They don't even know why.
They just hate us.
They don't even substantively know why they don't, other than they think we're all about social issues and judging them and their immorality, which is the way they look at it.
But how how is it jumping the gun to respond to a preposterous statement from our own embassy?
Our own embassy embarrasses this government with that statement.
How is it jumping the gun to respond to that?
By the way, what gun did Romney jump?
The jumping the gun, but what does that actually mean?
Let's listen to Mrs. Clinton.
This is this morning in Washington at the State Department.
We condemn in the strongest terms this senseless act of violence.
This was an attack by a small and savage group, not the people or government of Libya.
Everywhere.
Stop, stop.
Has the has the uh as the Muslim Brotherhood had honched, now the president of Libya of Egypt, has he condemned this?
Has the Egyptian government condemned this?
I haven't seen it, if they have.
Have they strongly condemned this?
Have they come out and said that they oppose this?
Have they said anything about wanting to find the perpetrators and bring them...
I haven't I haven't seen that.
Here's the arrest of Mrs. Clinton.
And his team went in Libya in a country scarred by war and tyranny.
They were hailed as friends and partners.
And when the attack came yesterday, Libyans stood and fought to defend our post.
Some were wounded.
Libyans carried Chris's body to the hospital.
And they helped rescue and lead other Americans to safety.
Don't know what to say.
All I can tell you, CBS is reporting that our ambassador is dead because our friends in Libya told that mob where they had taken him.
Mm-hmm.
For his own safety.
Consulates attack, you get the ambassador out of there, you move him to an established place of safety.
They did that.
And then they told the mob where that was.
And the Mrs. Clinton's praising them for standing and defending our guy, taking him to the hospital and so forth.
Huge remember, folks, I well.
Well, I'm I'm I'm trying to bite my tongue here because it just it's it's so outrageous.
There's such incompetence.
It's it's dangerous.
You know, the United States is a great nation at risk in a dangerous world.
And it's it's so up.
We've got somebody doesn't know what the hell to do with the economy, doesn't know what the hell to do to revive our economic plight, and is totally lost.
Totally lost on the foreign policy stage.
It's it the incompetence is frightening.
And you couple that with the coordinated all-out assault to somehow blame Mitt Romney for all this and to have every bit of attention focused on him.
I'm sitting here, what what can we do about this?
Beyond hope that the American people see it and get it.
I gotta take a break.
It's one thing we gotta do.
Sit tight, my friends, I'll be back with much more right after this.
Don't go away.
President Obama heading to Las Vegas this afternoon.
He's moved his departure back an hour because of what happened.
He had to speak in the uh well, outside the Oval Office.
He had to he had to address uh what what what happened at our embassy and our consulate in the Middle East.
He's going to Vegas, he's got a campaign event.
Now, the campaign event was scheduled originally for an outside arena.
I think capacity this place, 19 or 20,000.
And Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz sent out a flash email to people in Vegas yesterday.
Sorry, we're having to move it Inside because of weather.
So I said, oh, weather in Vegas.
So I went to Weather Underground and I looked.
And sure enough, there was a 60% chance of rain last night.
With a flash flood warning.
No chance of rain today.
Or tonight in Las Vegas.
So they're moving another event indoors because of inclement weather that isn't inclement.
With a usual apology for all the thousands and thousands disappointed that they won't get to see the president now.
Look, I might have the numbers wrong.
It might be twelve hundred people the arena holds and uh or 1912.
I don't know what the number, but the either moving from outdoors to in because of inclement weather.
And there were there was some.
I also heard the president's going on Letterman.
He's appearing on a Letterman tonight or tomorrow.
I don't know.
I'm not sure the date.
Um remember now it's Romney who's really not behaving properly here.
Let's listen to Romney.
This morning in Jacksonville, audio soundbite number four, where we're starting here as I cue the broadcast engineer, the first of three bites that we have.
This attack on American individuals and embassies is outrageous.
It's disgusting.
It breaks the hearts of all of us who think of these people who have served during their lives the cause of freedom and justice and honor.
We mourn their loss and join together in prayer that the spirit of the Almighty might comfort the families of those who have been so brutally slain.
Well, so Romney called the uh the acts of violence outrageous and disgusting.
Obama didn't use those words when he talked about it.
Obama didn't get anywhere near describing what happened that way.
Here's more from Romney.
The uh embassy in Cairo put out a statement after their grounds had been breached.
Protesters were inside the grounds, they reiterated that statement after the breach.
I think it's a uh a terrible course for America to stand uh in apology for our values.
That instead when our grounds are being attacked and being breached, that the first response to the United States must be outrage at the uh breach of the sovereignty of our nation and apology for America's values is never the right course.
No, that's what this statement is, and they stood by it later.
Embassy Cairo stood by the White House threw them under the bus.
They said, eh, that's not us.
They spoke on their own, right?
We didn't, we didn't took it back.
And then after that, Embassy Cairo said, Well, maybe, but we stand by the fact that we don't like Americans saying things that hurt the feelings of Muslims.
They stood by it.
And then I'm I don't have time to read this to you, but I also read this last night.
Militant Islamists got into tweet chats with people inside our embassy.
And the militant Islamists say, look at you are justifying what we did, and the people inside our embassy are not disagreeing with them.
The militant Islamists are doing tweet chats with people inside our embassy, whoever issued the statement.
It's again, I I I can't read it to you.
That's it's not structured in a way that makes sense to read it.
Uh maybe we can link to it at uh at the website.
And here is one more from Romney.
The White House also issued a statement saying it tried to distance itself from those comments and said they were not reflecting of their views.
I had the exact same reaction.
These views were inappropriate, they were the wrong course to take.
It's their administration.
Their administration spoke.
Uh, the president takes responsibility not just for the words that come from his mouth, but also from the words that come from his ambassadors from his administration, from his embassies, from his State Department.
The statement that came from the administration uh was a statement uh which is akin to apology, and I think was a severe miscalculation.
It wasn't akin to an apology, it was an apology, and it was apology before the fact.
It was an apology before and um folks, I'm gonna tell you something else.
This action yesterday did not happen because of a movie.
And it did not happen because of a preacher in Gainesville or anywhere else.
It did not happen.
That was simply the excuse.
These Islamists know what they're doing, and they know what we'll fall for, and they know what this administration will fall for and guzzle up.
This administration is eager to blame this country and people who live in this country.
And the militant Islamists know it.
They were coordinated.
There was coordination on this long before word of this movie hit.
Has nothing to do with it in the real world.
You know it, and I know it.
The bottom line here is that the Obama camp, the campaign, the White House, and the media all condemned Romney before they condemned the attacks.
Obama thought it more worthwhile to hit Romney for what he was doing than the terrorists for what they did.
Romney got hit first.
Okay, folks, sit tight.
