Time Text
Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
All right, here's the truth.
Yesterday and most of last night was perhaps one of the worst, flattest, most embarrassing days for a political party at its convention in the history of conventions.
And yet the media and a lot of Democrats think the election's over because of last night.
Because they think last night's convention was a home run, a grand slam home run.
I'm telling you the truth is that in in terms of average Americans watching what's going on, that yesterday and last night was an absolute disaster for the Democrats.
Folks, great to have you here.
Telephone number if you want to be on the program is 800 282-2882.
Email address L Rushbaugh at EIBNet.com.
Must be a lot of fear on our side.
Because I got people left and right that have been emailing me Clinton fact check articles.
Rush, you gotta set the record straight on Clinton.
I didn't even watch Clinton.
I saw two or three sections, segments of Clinton got bored.
I got bored.
I don't think he helped Obama at all last night.
He pushed, you know, Obama's waiting backstage to come out and accept accolades and stand in the in the great light of Bill Clinton.
And what did Clinton do?
Make him wait till 1130.
When the football game is in its most exciting.
When everybody's watching the wrap up of the Giants and the Cowboys.
That convention last night on the broadcast networks, the early numbers didn't even get a full rating point.
It got a 0.9.
The TV numbers are in.
Now they're quick and they're subject to uh revision.
But it's fascinating for me to look at my email and what people send me, because I can determine who's frightened or who's worried about what might have happened last night.
I want to dissect this uh and and share with you my opinions of it, as always, with audio sound bites and some of the things that happened.
But I just I want you to try to understand a lot of, I don't know how many of you are panicked because you think Clinton did well last night, but you have to keep in mind the Democrat Party and the media all wish they were sleeping with Clinton.
There is a slavish, irrational love-like attachment to this guy that is irrational, and it's not rooted in reality.
And of course, they think last night fixed whatever problems happened earlier in the day, or whatever might have gone wrong earlier in the evening, or whatever might have gone wrong the last four years.
I'm telling you, they see Bill Clinton in a way that the mass vast majority of Americans do not.
Tell me, do the candidates that Clinton endorses win?
No.
A sizable percentage of the American people looked at this convention last night and they hear contraception, abortion, women, victims, women this, women that, war on women, and then who do they see?
Bill Clinton.
Any party that would bring Bill Clinton on highlight him and Ted Kennedy while at the same time claiming to have love and devotion, respect for women, is insane.
In the real world, the connection doesn't work.
I really think it's for me, it is fascinating to watch what idolatry does to people's ability to be reasonable and rational.
I'll show you what I mean with the uh when we get to the audio sound bites.
There's a couple other observations.
One thing I did see Clinton do that.
So I I actually, I don't think, I don't think Clinton intended to help Obama that much.
I think Clinton's out there for Clinton.
He's being loyal to the party first, loyal to himself second.
He used what what I I don't know if it's got a name for it or some uh a device, but what he wanted to do was tell the audience that his four years smoked Obama's.
But though he could, he couldn't come out and just say it that way.
But he wanted them to conclude that.
So what he did, and I'm paraphrasing it.
What he does is he's now.
I know that some of you may be out, because I just went through my record all the job creation and a bipartisan.
I mean, I worked with the Republicans.
I mean, this there were some so many slams of Obama in that Clinton speech.
I can't begin to catalog them all.
I was bipartisan, I worked with the Republicans.
I was able to do that.
I was able to get it done.
This guy can't.
He didn't say that, but that's the implication.
And then he recounts his record.
Took office, the worst economy last 50 years, and look what happened.
Well, I raised taxes, job creation, economic recovery.
Now, I don't want y'all thinking.
I don't want y'all thinking here that the last four years have been, I mean, I my four years clearly outdid the last four.
Everybody knows that.
But I don't want you thinking that.
That'd be very unfair.
I thought I don't want you to make that kind of comparison.
Uh but he wanted everybody to make the comparison.
So what he he told the audience, I know what you're thinking.
I know what you think.
You're thinking I know more about what I'm doing than this clown does.
I don't want you thinking that way.
That'd be wholly unfair.
It'd be very unfair for you to think that I'm so much better at what I do than Obama is.
That's exactly what he was doing.
I know this guy, folks.
I can channel this guy.
I know liberals.
I know how they do stuff.
And there's Obama sitting back there waiting to come out.
He doesn't even want to have to bask in Clinton's limelight, but that's all he's got.
You know, when when uh who was it that uh that nominated came out, oh, and and forget that I can't forget the point I'm trying to make is irrelevant.
I'm just out of Obama's standing back there, waiting to come out and bask in the glow, and Clinton goes on and on.
I was going back and forth from Clinton to the football game, and I'm kidding you, not kidding you.
Every time I went back to Clinton, that room looked flat.
Now, I know there were periods of time where it wasn't.
I'm not, I'm not lost in my own illusion, but I'm telling you, he might have owned that room the first five or ten minutes, but after that, he got lost in I mean my and his his time and his ego.
And uh that that convention hall last night was a microcosm, a small microcosm of the small percentage of thinking in this country that's that that is uh categorized by liberal.
They're nowhere near majority of the population, majority of the thinking or what have you, and the media is in the same boat, and so there's a vast misunderstanding in that hall.
Well, what had happened for crying out loud, this is the bunch that got mad when they tried to put God back in their platform.
They got mad, they booed God, they booed the process of putting God back, and they think they had a winning convention night last night.
They think they won the election last night.
And we come to find out, yes, the news came from on high.
It was reported that when Obama found out that God had been taken out of convention, he called somebody, you put it back in.
Well, guess who was in charge of taking it out in the first place?
Obama.
He knew presidents are the platform.
He knew that it wasn't in there, and he knew this business about Israel and Jerusalem wasn't in there.
He wanted it that way.
Then all hell broke loose and he had to put it back in.
And then, of course, I had to feel sorry for poor Via Ragosa going out there, because look what this guy's up against.
And what does it say for the Democrat process when the vote was ignored?
The real vote was ignored, and the convention leaders just did what they wanted to do anyway.
That convention doesn't want God in their platform.
That bunch of Democrats wants God nowhere near them.
And there's no other way of analyzing it.
So Via Ragosa goes out there, calls for the vote, and you can see on his face.
Oh my God.
What do I do?
Because the teleprompted what to say.
But if he said, you know, I mean the no's clearly outnumbered the years in terms of putting God back in.
And he had to sit there and pretend that the Ye is won.
He couldn't do it the first.
Here, let's go.
Let's just listen to it.
You've I I have to I have to play this myself.
I have to get it on the record on this program.
A Democrat Party, as you will hear with sound bites as we get into the rest of the program, they think they won the election last night.
That may be one of the best events or the best uh results of last night to get.
They think it's in the bag now, strictly because of Bill Clinton.
They think it's in the bag.
Oh, and folks, you know, CNN here's a stalker.
Carol Costello, she's the correspondent that follows me.
And she's interviewing Alex Castellanos.
And Kit, be on the lookout every time I mention Castellanos.
He calls and filibusters and demands to come on the program to correct what I say about him.
Or he sends you an email.
Whatever.
He's a Republican consultant.
Alex Castle Costellanos, he's on CNN last night.
And Carol Costello is desperately worried that Obama's not going to be able to outshine Bill Clinton.
And Castellano says, yeah, I'm gonna tell you, this election's over.
I got an email from a woman who said she watched Clinton last night, wanted to do two things.
I wanted to sleep with him and I want to vote for him.
This is over, Carol.
Costello says, Well, you know, Obama, he just does so much better outdoors than indoors.
Is there any way, Alex, that that Obama can.
I got the sound bites.
You will hear this.
The Republican consultant on CNN said last night it's over.
Cogy Roberts thinks it's over.
Gloria Borger thinks it's over.
But Joe Trippie on Fox was so imbad.
Joe Trippie, after, after uh uh what was um no, right before Warren, right before they went to war, and there was a there was a little time for panel up there, and Joe Trippie, who who ran Howard Dean's campaign in uh 04, when it was his turn to comment, he didn't want to say that.
He was so depressed.
Uh yeah, look, yeah, yeah, it's a little flat tonight.
Yeah, it's it's not it's not what it was the night before.
Yeah, it's it's a little flat, and then he started with the excuse making.
And Joe Trippy had it right, and Dick Morris was tweeting all throughout Clinton's speech, just just thrashing Clinton.
What a horrible speech that Clinton was giving.
The contrast is amazing.
The people who think it's over, because Clinton gave a great speech, is a testament to how in the tank the media and Democrats are for Clinton.
They have no ability to relate to reality, particularly as it affects real people.
Now here's Villarragosa, as they're desperately trying to put God in their convention.
One one, yeah, and it's not God given.
That's the frame, God given one little mention, and it's it's torn the convention apart.
One mention of God, and it sent this place into a tizzy.
So here's we got two of these.
Here's the first of two sound bites, the LA mayor Antonio Villarragosa.
All those delegates in favor say I those delegates opposed, say no.
In the opinion Of the let me do that again.
Yeah.
All of those delegates in favor say aye.
All those delegates opposed say no.
No.
I um.
I guess.
And then you've got to let them do what they're gonna do.
I'll do that one more time.
That was a that was the woman's standard.
It looked a little bit like uh uh the Elizabeth Warren said, but it wasn't her.
You got a rule, mayor.
You got a rule, and then you gotta let them do what they're gonna do.
You you've got a rule.
You just you gotta do it.
UK it kept looking off to the side, looking for guidance.
And he doesn't want to sit there and act happy and proud that God is not requested to be present at the Democrat convention.
So here's here's how it ended.
All those delegates in favor say I all those delegates opposed say no.
In the opinion of the chair, two-thirds have voted in the affirmative.
The motion is adopted, and the platform has been amended as showing on the screen.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
They're booing a couple, they're booing the process.
I we have to admit that because there was no democratic process here.
The votes didn't matter.
Delegates, it didn't matter how they were going to vote.
This was a preordained, the Messiah called them and said, God's gonna be back in there tonight.
And they booed.
And they boo they booed not only the process, but they booed the fact that they had to put God back in.
What?
In front of the in front of the whole country.
Now you might be saying, well, yeah, but Rush, it happened like five or six.
Oh, no, no.
This has been replayed in more places than Bill Clinton's speech.
This has been everywhere.
This is on YouTube.
This is wherever anybody can watch video, this is and has been and will continue to be.
And then, of course, we have the Huffington Post.
Right.
Accusing the Democrats of caving by putting God back in the convention.
And they think they won last night.
They think that the election's over after last night.
Let's take a brief time out, my friends.
We'll come back.
We're gonna start with Elizabeth Warren, because I have to tell you, uh she she persuasive speaker.
She convinced me that things are so terrible in America right now that there's no way we should reelect Obama.
Hey, I've revised the weather forecast in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The chance of rain tonight, zero.
Literally zero.
Not 5%, not 10%.
There is a zero percent chance of rain tonight.
This convention is in chaos if you want to know the truth.
Their platform is in chaos.
Here is the sentence that sent this convention over the edge.
The platform calls for a government that quote gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.
That's what it was all about.
It wasn't even devotion to God.
It wasn't even acknowledging God or asking God for blessing.
It was simply an acknowledgement that potential is God given.
And that sent this convention into a tizzy.
And there is no speech that can recover from the pictures and the sounds of that convention.
When they tried to get God back in.
They also booed recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
And it is the capital.
It's where the Knesset meets.
So the delegates were very hostile to Israel.
The Republican Party, clearly the pro-Israel party now.
Without question.
But this platform is in chaos.
The President of the United States is responsible for it.
The outdoor speech can't be sold out.
And a 0% chance of rain is blamed.
God booed on the convention floor.
Israel booed on the convention floor.
The GOP is compared to Nazis now by four different Democrats in two days.
I don't know if you know this or not, but hundreds of credential delegates and media were locked out of the arena for hours last night.
They couldn't get in.
They were at capacity, fire regs or whatever it was, and the debt finally reaches 16 trillion during this convention.
And they think they won it last night.
you I really, I think it'd be very unfair of you if you're sitting there and you're thinking that my four years, my especially my first four, were much better than these four.
That'd be a totally unfair comparison for you to me.
I understand how you would think that, but I ask you tonight not do that.
Because I want you to recall, I want you to remember something, you are better off than you were four years ago.
Somebody told me Clinton actually said that at some point in the speech last night.
If he did, that's that remember Carville and Greenberg had their warning for Obama back early in the summer.
Don't try to pass this off as an economic recovery that's going gangbusters because it isn't.
And people oh, folks, I gotta warn you, I have to warn you about something.
The August unemployment numbers are going to be announced tomorrow.
Obama will know them today.
The government is in charge of the numbers.
I don't want you to get all paranoid or worried if it happens, but and I won't be surprised if it happens.
I'm not predicting it per se, but I'm not going to be surprised if Obama alludes.
He won't announce the numbers tonight.
But if he knows that they have been made to look good, the unemployment number for August.
He will allude to the good news that's just starting to break, or some such thing in his speech tonight.
Don't be concerned.
It's, I mean, already today there's a spate of news that you might say is, well, it looks like some good economic news today.
Hmm.
Yeah, wonder why.
There might be stories that uh portray good economics.
Just be on the lookout.
Keep a sharp eye out tonight.
For Obama making subtle references in the form of I got a feeling.
Things are turning around.
It's taken a long while, but our policies are finally taking root.
And then while we all wake up tomorrow, why look here?
Unemployment, 7.9%, or some such thing.
Just not predicting it, just telling you that I won't be surprised if it happens.
John Lewis, Democrat from uh from Georgia.
He was in Zelma.
He uh said, told a Daily Caller, America would be much better off if Republicans would cooperate with Obama and let him succeed.
Is that how it happens?
The other party is supposed to lay down so that the president can succeed, and the party isn't laying down.
The Republican party, at least not enough, not laying down, not cooperating with Obama, so he can't succeed.
It's just really mean.
Lewis said, this president has been treated, I remember every president since Kennedy.
This president has been treated like everything with a great deal of disrespect and non cooperation, said Lewis, who is also a member of the Congressional Black Caucasians.
Bob Woodward has a book coming out, and it has leaked.
And in this book, stuff that has leaked indicate nobody knows who's doing anything in the White House.
They can't get a decision made in there.
This is not a flattering look at Obama coming up in Woodward's book.
In Vanity Fair magazine, the October issue.
The renowned writer Michael Lewis has an eagerly anticipated peace coming because he was granted unprecedented access to Obama.
Air Force One, Situation Room, any number of place.
This guy was closer than any reporter, maybe outside of Woodwards ever been.
Business Insider yesterday got an advanced copy of the story and they read it and they said here are five things that we didn't know about Obama.
Five exciting when I read the five, I don't have right in front of me.
I'll get to it as the program unfolds.
I'm just telling you what's coming later.
I'll give you a little smorgasbord here.
I read the five things.
It says, if these are the five things, If these are the top five best five most exciting things that we didn't know about Obama, he is more boring than I am.
And I am boring.
And then there's an element in the Lewis piece where Obama goes around the room and even asks a speech writer his opinion on some major piece of something or other that needs a decision.
It's devastating.
There's no leadership in this White House.
Nobody knows where to go to get a decision on anything.
The Woodward book and this Lewis piece are not flattering pieces at all.
So that's coming up.
Chris Matthews.
I don't have the audio.
Cookie, don't go get the audio.
I'm not lifting my ban on audio.
Do you know that MSNBC has not run yet any footage of the vote on God?
And there's something else that's happened at this convention that they have acted like hasn't happened.
There's one other big thing, not quite as big as God being booed, but anyway, I'm gonna play anything from this from this network, but Chris Matthews, this is an illustration of just how irrational these people are attached to Bill Clinton.
And when Clinton comes out as a Democrat at the convention and gives what they all think is a great speech, well, that's it.
election's over.
Country loves Clinton.
And of course, whoever Clinton endorses usually loses.
Clinton's impeached.
He was this bard.
He He lost his law license.
He committed perjury.
The blue stained dress, Monica Lewinsky, all this guy is held up as the greatest icon alive a Democrat Party has.
It's got to make John Edwards jealous.
John Edwards, what do I have to do to get respect in this party?
And Gary Hart, where's he?
How come I'm left out of this mix of great Democrats?
They're doing a tribute to Ted Kennedy.
Tribute to Bill Clinton.
What about me?
Now what about Edwards?
Edwards lives in North Carolina.
I'll bet he can't get within 10 miles of the convention hall.
He lives there.
You imagine what Edwards is saying?
What do you have to do in this party to get heralded?
Clinton's got nothing on Edwards.
But it seems like Edwards.
Gary Hart, Pence Zip, Clinton and Kennedy own it.
And they do a convention where it's us conducting a war on women.
Anyway, Bill Chris Matthews was just, I think probably had to wear an athletic supporter last night to hide the bulge.
After Clinton finished it, Chris Matthews said years from now, we may look back at tonight and remember Bill Clinton's speech is one of the greatest in convention history.
No one, including Obama has made a better case for Obama than Bill Clinton did tonight.
But he wasn't through.
Matthews praised Clinton's incredible gestures during the speech towards the Obama family.
They're gonna teach those gestures in school someday.
What the hell is he talking about?
Clinton's bony finger?
You know, if I were a woman, that bony finger would give me chills.
If I were a woman, I see Clinton waving around that bony finger.
So get me away from here.
Well, I'm sorry.
Chris Matthews wearing the athletic supporter to hide the bulge under and behind the desk, and he's still not through.
Then he says, I always figured that if Bill Clinton landed on Mars, he'd know how to do it with him.
Clinton would know how to do it with the Martians.
He would know how to reproduce, he would know everything.
He would just instinctively know how to talk to people.
They'd be laughing in about five minutes.
The Martians.
Close quote.
He would know how to do it with the march.
This isn't I didn't see it, and I didn't say this at DC examiner's reported by Charlie Sperling.
We have a ban.
Okay, now people wanting to hear this.
All right.
I don't know if Cookie even rolls on MSNBC anymore.
Cookie, if you can find that, I'll lift the ban on this one special occasion.
If you can find I don't I don't want you to have to go buy it if we don't have it.
It's not worth that.
But I mean, this is the kind of irrationality that the Democrats have attached to this guy that makes them think the election's over just because this guy gave an overly long, boring speech last night.
Made the case better for Obama.
Stop and think of that.
Four years ago, the Messiah, the one, never anything like him.
And now in four years, he's so small and insignificant that they're worried.
You know, he does so much better outdoors than indoors.
And Clinton, he made a far better case for Obama than Obama makes for himself.
And then after he did that, he knows what to do with the Martians.
He got a Martian in bed in five minutes, Chris Matthews says.
Who knew that Chris Matthews was fantasizing about doing it with Martians?
Okay, the audio soundbite swing.
Elizabeth Warren.
She was uh one of the featured speakers last night, running for the Senate in Massachusetts.
Now, as you listen to this, I want you to keep in mind Barack Obama has been president for three and a half, almost four years now.
Keep that in mind as you listen to this woman.
Talk about how rotten things are.
She's a persuasive speaker.
She totally convinced me things are terrible in America right now, and that we really should not reelect Obama.
She didn't say that, but the conclusion is obvious.
She indicts the economic circumstances in this country as well as you or I do, of course, from her perspective.
Let's get started.
People feel like the system is rigged against them.
And here's the painful part.
They're right.
The system is rigged.
Look around.
Oil companies guzzle down billions in profits.
Billionaires pay lower tax rates than their secretaries.
And Wall Street CEOs, the same ones who wrecked our economy and destroyed millions of jobs, still strut around Congress, no shame, demanding favors, and acting like we should thank them.
Does anyone here have a problem with that?
No.
this really incredible.
The system is rigged against them, and here's the painful part they're right.
System is rigged.
Well, who's running the system?
Obama's running the system.
And who is it that's running cronyism and corporate cronyism with the Gubs Obama?
Ever heard of Cylindra?
Anybody have a problem with that?
And not just Cylindra.
Anybody heard of any of the other failed solar energy companies that were essentially just donors to Obama who got some of the money back?
Funding businesses that essentially do not exist.
The solar panel industry is not a thriving business.
Corporate cronyism out the wazoo.
I'll tell you system is rigged when 70% of the tax burden is paid by the top two percent.
The system is rigged.
Damn right it's rigged.
when 70% of taxes are paid by 2% of the people.
Oil companies guzzle down billions in profits?
How the hell can that be?
Obama has tried to shut it down.
Never heard of the Keystone Pipeline.
Ever heard of the drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico?
Oil companies are guzzling down profits.
Well, who hasn't done anything to stop that in the last three and a half years?
It's as though Obama is running against an incumbent Republican.
This woman is speaking as though the president today is a Republican and is in bed with all of these interests that are screwing people.
And that didn't happen except when Clinton was in the Oval Office.
Ask Monica.
Here's the next bite.
I talked to small business owners all across Massachusetts.
And not one of them, not one, made big bucks from the risky bets that brought down our economy.
Stop the type Well, what yeah, okay.
Small business owners all across Massachusetts, not one of them made any money from the risky bet.
What risky bet?
The stimulus, maybe.
Unemployment compensation extended 99 weeks.
National debt 16 trillion dollars.
Ah, median family income falling $4,000, $51,000 to 47,000.
What in the world is this woman talking about?
Talk to small business owners all across Massachusetts.
Not one of them made money from the risky bets that brought down our economy.
Who's running the economy?
Let's continue.
I talked to nurses and programmers, salespeople and firefighters, people who bust their tails every day.
And not one of them, not one, stashes their money in the Cayman Islands to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
These folks don't resent that someone else made more money.
We're Americans.
We celebrate success.
We just don't want the game to be rigged.
You do not celebrate success.
Your whole campaign is based on resenting success.
The entire Democrat Party is structured to punish success.
Or at least make your voters think you're going to punish success.
Barack Obama has money invested in the Caymans.
It was been discovered.
Some of his 401k, some of his investments, a lot of people maybe don't even know some of their money's invested in the Caymans.
Fair share of taxes?
Again, 70% of taxes being paid by two percent?
Massachusetts is run by whom?
Who's running Massachusetts right now?
Ms. Warren?
Wouldn't that be a guy by the name of Daval Patrick who's making an utter mess of the state?
John Kerry stashes his money.
John Kerry's wife stashes her money that Kerry dips into now and then in the Caymans.
I'll bet John Kerry has a slip for his yacht in the Caymans.
Who's running Massachusetts?
Who's running the United States, Ms. Warren?
She really did.
She made a great case for not voting for Barack Obama last night and didn't have the sense to know what she was doing.
And we still have two more bites from this, babe.
Don't go away.
Elizabeth Warren, who has railed against predatory banks and heartless foreclosures took part in about a dozen Oklahoma real estate deals that netted her and her family hefty profits.
Profits through maneuvers such as flipping properties record showed in the Boston Herald, folks.
A Boston Herald review has found the Democrat U.S. Senate candidate rapidly bought and sold homes herself, loaned money at high interest rates to relatives, purchased foreclosed properties at bargain prices.
Export Selection
