Time Text
Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 247 podcast.
I said yesterday on this program that the Obama regime told Arizona to drop dead last night on Fox News and the Greta Van Susseren show.
The governor of Arizona, Jan Brewer, we admire Jan Brewer here.
Went on Fox News and she said the Obama administration told Arizona to drop dead.
And that is exactly what's it.
This is unbelievable.
This I don't know how this guy is going to get over 25% of the vote in November.
I don't believe what is happening in this country.
I am sitting here, my mouth agape, wide open in stunned disbelief.
Well, that's not accurate because I know these people.
But nevertheless, that I am.
And I'm scared.
I am scared what these people are doing to this country.
I am scared.
This is not for an administration after winning to react the way this one did and basically tell Arizona, as far as we're concerned, you don't even exist.
Hi, folks.
Rush Limbaugh, the real mainstream media here, the EIB network.
Our telephone number.
You want to be on the program 800-282-2882, the email address L Rushball at EIBNet.com.
As we told you yesterday on this program, the regime said it is suspending existing agreements with Arizona police over enforcement of federal immigration laws, and furthermore said it has issued a directive telling federal authorities to decline many of the calls from Arizona reporting illegal immigrants that the Homeland Security may get from
Arizona cops.
Obama officials speaking on condition they not be named.
Why?
Why, if you're so proud of this, why not attach your name to it, regime?
Administration officials speaking on condition they not be named, told reporters they expect to see an increase in the number of calls they get from Arizona police, but that will not change Obama's decision to limit whom the government actually tries to detain and deport.
All of this means that uh police statewide can immediately begin calling to check immigration status, but federal authorities are likely to tell them to go to hell.
Arizona cops can call, and the administration is going to tell them.
Furthermore, that's that's that's not all that's associated with this.
To intimidate Arizona law in fact.
What happened here?
All that happened here is there are federal immigration laws on the books.
The federal government's not enforcing because the Democrat Party losing traditional American voters in droves, left and right, needs as many foreign citizens and and illegal immigrants to come into this country as possible to be converted into voters and the recipients of whatever federal large S. Obama wants to try to pass out to purchase their votes.
He is written off the state of Texas.
He's written off white working families.
He's now written off the state of Arizona.
Arizona was a state that was, and I don't even understand why, but it was a state that was in play, according to all the experts and all the presidential polling data.
Well, not any longer.
Arizona is is is doesn't care.
To intimidate Arizona law enforcement officials, Obama further set up a hotline to complain when illegals are apprehended.
Get this.
The Justice Department, Eric Holder of Fast and Furious fame, a program which resulted in the deaths of over 200 Mexicans.
The Justice Department announced it set up a telephone hotline and an email address for the public to report potential civil rights concerns related to the implementation of the Arizona SB 1070 provision requiring immigration status verification during certain...
this is the stop and check.
If anybody sees something that they think is not right, they can call and tattle.
It's a tattletale line.
It's an invitation to liberal troublemakers to shut this part of the law down.
What we have here, we have federal laws on immigration.
The federal government was not enforcing them.
Obama not interested in securing the border.
What border?
Probably thinks there shouldn't even be a border.
Who do we think we are?
United States of America?
What border?
Well, this is resulting in a state of chaos in the state of Arizona.
Economically, politically, criminally.
And so the responsible people, the adults in Arizona, said we are going to enforce the law ourselves.
So they wrote law which mirrors federal law, did not go one step further.
It mirrors federal law.
The Supreme Court said you can't do that.
This is a federal government job, and you can't do it.
And Antonin Scalia in his dissent said, what it boggles the mind.
A sovereign state writes laws that reflect and mirror federal laws which are not being enforced.
The people not enforcing the law sue the state of Arizona for trying to enforce what is essentially federal law, and they win.
I know it doesn't matter, and I know it's probably irrelevant, but it's just me and the way I think.
I wonder if there's any shame on the part of the Supreme Court that voted this case when they see what Obama did yesterday.
I know that's naive as it can be.
I know that it's silly to even think that such a thing is possible.
Particularly among the four libs on the court.
But here they are thinking they are upholding federal law, protecting federal government, the heck with federalism.
And then after their ruling comes out, then Obama decides that he's just not going to enforce the law now that Arizona's told it can't.
Now there is no immigration law in Arizona.
And any tattletale liberals who spot the cops checking people now have a hotline.
They can call and rant out Arizona law enforcement officials to Barack Obama in the United States of America.
The Justice Department announced that it is set up a telephone hotline and email address for the public, which means ticked off snivelling little liberals to report potential civil rights concerns related to the implementation implementation of the Arizona SB 1070 provision, the stop and check law.
The hotline numbers X, the email address is X. So Arizona, you got that?
When your police and your sheriff departments try to do their jobs, left-wing lawyers stand ready to bury you in bogus lawsuits.
At the request and the behest of Barack Obama.
This hotline, this this email address is criminalizing the enforcement of the law.
There is a presumption now that any law enforcement official doing his job on the provision the Supreme Court upheld, stop and check, is now behaving in a criminal way and will be ratted out or tattleted on by Arizona citizens for the life of me.
I don't know what's in it for you, Arizona citizens, but I could no more be a liberal.
if somebody paid me Warren Buffett money, I couldn't do it.
My conscience wouldn't allow me to survive a week.
Thank you.
So when your cops and sheriff departments in Arizona try to do their jobs, left wing lawyers stand ready to bury you with bogus lawsuits.
I the federal government does not have your back.
If you are a law enforcement officer in Arizona, your target.
Not potential criminals, not people who violate the law.
Law enforcement is now the target.
The bullseye painted on their backs by Barack Obama.
What this is all about is the presumption that law enforcement does nothing but profile.
And they're gonna profile.
And who gets to decide whether it's profiling or not?
A former ACLU lawyer, former La Raza lawyer at the Department of Justice.
Keep wondering what would Wyatt ERP do.
Criminals can now snitch out law enforcement, folks.
Barack Obama has sided with people who are on the other side of the law.
And Speaker Boehner, are you glad to see that President Obama did not spike the ball after the Supreme Court decision yesterday?
You want to talk about spiking the football.
We are looking at spiking the football.
And we're looking at this with anger and revenge.
There is so much pent up rage and anger in this administration, and they can't wait to exhibit it as often as possible.
Arizona favors the state of Arizona, the people of Arizona favor the stop and check law by two to one.
Two to one.
So Obama has written off Arizona.
It's another doesn't care as far as his reelection is concerned.
Now there's no nuance here.
The President of the United States does not want immigration laws enforced.
It's just that simple, folks.
He does not want immigration laws enforced.
The liberals in this country, the Democrat Party, need a perpetual underclass.
And I guess they're not content with the perpetual underclass that they have created in this country with the economic disruption that they have authored.
They want even more.
Here's the governor.
Let's go to audio soundbite number three last night on Greta question.
Governor Brewer, no sooner had you heard the news that there was a ruling, and you at least had won one provision, suddenly you learn the news that the agreement has been cut off.
What are your thoughts?
Well, I was shocked.
I was outraged.
It was just unbelievable that they would just thort uh the law thought the opinion of the Supreme Court.
I would think that the American people would think long and deep about what the federal government is doing and why aren't they abiding by the rule of law?
It's just unconscionable.
What they said to Arizona is drop dead, Arizona, drop dead and go away.
We're gonna ignore you.
She's exactly right.
Drop dead.
Federal government is not abiding by the rule of law.
Federal government, Barack Obama ignoring the law as he sees fit, enforcing it as he sees fit, violating it as he sees fit.
So Greta said, well, look, not long after 287G of the stop and check, they were cut off the department.
Then they set up a telephone hotline and intake email for the public to report potential civil rights concerns related to the implementation of stop and check.
So apparently the Department of Justice is worried that you're gonna do something, Governor.
For the Federal Government and the Department of Justice to go out in this manner and to uh encourage, I would say bait people to call up and report people that it's just unbelievable.
Is this not America?
Is this not the United States?
Do I not, as governor, have the right to protect the people of Arizona?
It's just incomprehensible to think that this is all taking place today.
And it ticks me off.
I think that it should tick the people of America off.
Earlier in the day, she thought she'd won.
Earlier in the day, when the Supreme Court upheld stop and check, which was the primary reason they were all in court in the first place.
The other three provisions were already there were just mirrors of existing federal law.
Scalia still can't believe what happened.
But Provision 4 here, earlier in the day when the court upheld stop and check, she thought she had a big win until the regime spoke up and said, you know what?
Not only are we not going to enforce it, when you guys call us for help, we're not going to answer the phone.
And furthermore, we're going to set up a tattletale hotline so that if anybody reports your cops to us trying to enforce this, your cops are going to get in trouble.
And Governor Brewer thinking she had a victory goes on Greta last night, wondering if she still lives in the United States of America.
So the regime is using the Department of Homeland Security to punish Obama's enemies.
I saw a great phrase at a blog post, PJ Media, Obama went Soviet on Arizona.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Let me read to you from that post.
This is a political maneuver designed to punish Arizona, which had the audacity.
Well, I mean, what is this really all about?
Obama's not enforcing immigration law.
Arizona's falling apart.
Responsible governor says, "Alright, well, we're going to write some laws to give us the ability to enforce the border ourselves." And you don't do that to a solipsistic, narcissistic little man-child like Barack Obama.
You just don't openly challenge the king like this.
So Barack Obama turned around and sued Arizona.
Who the hell do you think you are?
You want to enforce immigration law?
Okay, let me show you what's going to happen to you.
Because I'm going to tell you we're not going to enforce immigration law, and I'm going to take you all the way to the Supreme Court, and I don't care what happens to your state.
And that is exactly what happens.
And so Arizona is being punished.
Now, they might want to say this is political punishment, but it has real-world consequences.
Crime, property value loss, economic calamity, it's an absolute disaster.
here.
So while this may be traditional old political punishment, there are real-world horrible consequences attached to it.
Arizona's already reeling from the lawlessness on its border with Mexico.
Go.
Thank you.
And as I said, it's abundantly clear now.
Obama's given up winning Arizona.
He doesn't care.
Written it off.
Now going Soviet on it to make an example to every other state, by the way, and do not discount that.
This is a message to every other state on the border.
The same can happen to you if you try this stunt.
You go overboard defending your border or you challenge me and how I want to defend the border or not, and this will happen to you too.
It's good old-fashioned political Soviet-style intimidation.
Barack Obama has kicked Arizona out of whatever is left of the federal government's border enforcement.
And in the process, what has Obama in real-world consequences just done here?
Obama has sent a special delivery FedEx or UPS to smugglers and traffickers and criminals of all kinds that Arizona is wide open.
Come on in, gang.
Nobody here to stop you.
And not only that, if somebody wearing a police uniform in Arizona does try to stop you, guess what?
We're going to get a phone call from some of our buddies on the ground, and guess who's going to jail?
The cop.
So come on in.
Forget New Mexico, forget California, forget Texas.
Make a beeline for Arizona.
We have cleared the decks for you.
In fact, we would encourage you to try to get picked up by a cop because we want the cop punished.
And we have people who are going to be spying, making sure that if a cop stops you for any reason whatsoever, demand your papers.
We're going to make sure to hear about it, and that cop is finished.
So come on in.
Arizona is wide open for all of you.
Thank you.
That's the sucker punch.
So this puts the law back on hold.
It's the green light to anybody who wants to sneak into Arizona from Mexico all day long.
Hi.
How are you?
We're great to have you back, Rush Linbaugh.
Intellectual arsenal of the conservative world.
Where we live.
United States of America.
I want to listen to this read to you the final paragraph of this post of PJ Media.
I don't know the name.
I don't know who posted it.
We have a remarkable president on our hands.
He openly defies the defined obligations of his office.
He then crafts new abilities to strike out at the states that he dislikes.
He imposes energy famines, as in a drilling on oil in the Gulf of Mexico, the Keystone Pipeline ban.
Energy famines.
He abets lawlessness in the name of his warped worldview.
It's really hard at the present time to regard the union of our United States as such, as a union.
It doesn't seem very united when Obama's Washington keeps acting like a hostile occupier.
That's what the writer of this post means when he says that the government went all Soviet on Arizona.
We don't have a presidency.
We have a...
We're occupied.
We're not led.
We're not unified.
What is going on with all these Democrats deciding not to go to the Democrat convention?
Are they afraid Michelle Obama's gonna make them do push-ups or what?
Claire McCaskill is the latest one.
Claire McCaskill, she was one of Obama's staunchest defenders and promoters throughout the 2008 campaign.
She was everywhere.
She was on television, she was on radio, she's in print.
She was the biggest cheerleader Obama ever had, and big as figuratively, but she loudest, she was out there everywhere.
She voted.
Claire McCaskill voted for Obama's massive slush fund, known as the stimulus bill.
She was all in for the tax increases that he wanted.
She defended Obamacare.
She defended Obama's attack on the Catholic church.
And its religious freedom.
She was all in for Dodd Frank.
So why can't she commit to attending her party celebration of their dear leader?
Their favorite community organizer, President Kardashian.
If she doesn't attend, she's now the what, eighth or ninth prominent Democrats say they're not going.
Here's something else.
They were gonna, I've got the story here in this noise.
Is it uh oh, gotta do that pretty soon.
What is it?
Um yeah, the Speedway thing.
They they they had a um uh venue all set up for a uh for party at the uh at yeah, here it is.
Here it is.
Oh, and then Jay Nixon, the Democrat governor of Missouri yesterday, last night, sometime recently, came out opposed to health care, Obamacare.
The politico has a story today warning John Roberts.
You can be lionized and the biggest hero in this town, or we can make your life miserable.
It's up to you.
Now, those are my words, but that's the point of the political story.
You can be the biggest, most prominent, most loved, revered chief justice in the history of Chief Justices.
Or you can be dirt.
It's up to you, Judge.
You're supposed to swing Obamacare.
Exactly right.
That's uh I've got that story in the stack here.
I'm getting way ahead of myself here.
I had this stuff all laid out.
John Roberts big moment.
Chief Justice John Roberts pledged during his Supreme Court hearings to be a mere umpire of the law.
But as a legacy defining decision nears, Roberts is emerging as a court's most intriguing player.
Justices are expected to rule Thursday on the fate of Obama's signature health law.
While much of the early attention focused on Anthony Kennedy, many court watchers predict that Roberts will be the architect of the ruling.
To a great extent, the decision will shape the way history views Roberts stewardship of the High Court.
The chief justice may not hold a key vote to what the court does, but he could be in a position to dictate how the court does it.
Jeffrey Rosen, law professor, George Washington University legal affairs editor for the New Republic said the health care case will undoubtedly define his chief justiceship.
The scope of the law, the amount of people affected, the fact that it's the centerpiece of this president's domestic agenda, all make it as politically charged as imaginable.
Even if the 57-year-old chief does write the opinion, there's considerable uncertainty about what side he would take.
At stake is not only his own legacy, but the court's reputation as an impartial arbiter of the law.
So you see, Robert's supposed to get up and read this today.
And if he votes to strip the mandate, the whole thing unconstitutional or whatever, he's no longer an impartial arbiter of the law and his legacy is mud.
Would he uphold the individual mandate and the law on a six to three vote, joining with Kennedy and the liberals for a ruling that crosses ideological and political boundaries?
I folks, I am so damn sick.
You know there hasn't been a single story.
I checked this, not a single story, not one reference to the possibility that one of the four liberals might vote in some other way.
But there are reams and reams of paper and published data about the the conservative justice and which one of them will grow and be mature and do the right thing.
And it always brings me back to this notion that we hear constantly there must be compromise.
And we must cross the aisle and work with one another.
There's not one thought even given to the fact that a liberal judge might side with America.
There's not one story, not one reference to one of the liberal judges going against his or her ideology.
Now, during the oral arguments, there was some shock and dismay over some of the questions that were asked by Sotomayor.
But I'm talking about stories like this.
You don't see a story like this that's written for Roberts about Ginsburg or Breyer.
Or what's that little uh Kagan?
You don't see any ever any stories like this about the liberal judges.
Only the so-called conservative judges.
And they're always framed in this silly notion that a judge is only decent and good and worthy of a claim if he abandons whatever it is assumed his right wing ideology to be.
All this is predictable.
It's just the Politico, not the Washington Post style section, but still, it's political.
Predictable.
But the political they're letting Roberts know, but it's it's up to you, pal.
You you want to like living in this town Friday on?
Are you gonna regret the day you came out of the womb?
It's up to you.
That's what they may as well be saying.
Now this.
I got myself out of order here.
This Democrats are Democrats are considering canceling their political conventions kickoff event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway as party planners grapple with a roughly $27 million fund.
Their convention fund is in the red $27 million.
Their convention fund is running a deficit of $27 million.
They're bankrupt.
They're broke.
When I first read the story, that fact was not in it.
The $27 million in debt, all it was was they're gonna cancel the thing at a speedway and move it somewhere else.
The implication being that a bunch of liberal reporters didn't want to hang around at some Hayseed place like a racetrack.
I kid you, that was the first story and the implication in it that a bunch of liberal reporters were not going to be caught dead in a freaking NASCAR racetrack.
Just wasn't gonna happen.
In subsequent editions of the story updated, finally let us know they don't have the money to go anywhere, much less a freaking NASCAR racetrack.
Obama's outraising money.
He's spending more than he's raising.
These people could not live on what they produce themselves.
They cannot live.
They cannot work, they cannot function without their hands in everybody else's pockets.
I'll be back.
On the cutting edge, Rushland bought talent on loan from a god.
Here's uh the Bloomberg news story on the financial problems of Democrats and their stupid convention.
In April, representatives of the major U.S. unions, including the AFL CIO, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the United Auto Workers were given a tour of the convention sites in Charlotte as Democrat officials prepared to ask him to help cover their funding shortfall.
Labor organizations have been reluctant to contribute to the Democrat Convention because Charlotte, North Carolina, lacks unionized hotels and is in a state where compulsory union membership or the payment of dues is prohibited as an employment condition.
So the unions are telling Obama and the Democrats we're not forking it over.
We're not gonna we're not gonna pay for your convention.
You chose a place that does us dirty in the vernacular of Reverend Wright.
He was riding dirty, said a Bill Clinton.
He was riding dirty.
Well, the unions are saying you're riding dirty.
By holding your stupid convention in North Carolina, we're not gonna pay for it.
And Obama said he's not gonna give any of his campaign money to them.
Hell, there's a there's an Obama fundraiser event in Boston.
Taxpayers added to cover security for that.
Or in Massachusetts somewhere.
And Obama went up there for his fundraiser in Boston, made some joke about the Red Sox trading Kevin Eukolis to the White Sox.
He got booed.
He got booed in Boston.
He couldn't figure it out understand it.
The guy's such he's such a man of the people.
He had no idea how seriously Bostonians take the Red Sox.
They weren't crazy about the trade.
There's Obama, a so-called White Sox fan, and they've seen Obama throw first pitches, and they know they're looking at freaking girl throw a baseball when Obama tries it.
Here he's making a joke about it, and they booed him.
This guy's so solipsistic.
You don't boo a narcissist like this.
Yeah.
I don't know what kind of convention.
Nobody's but is there gonna be one by the time it all shows up?
Now, now Claire's not going.
She probably heard Michelle's gonna make them all do a bunch of push-ups on camera to push her health initiative.
I checked the email during the break.
You were gonna tell us about Egypt.
I am gonna tell you about Egypt.
It's not as important right now as it was at the end of the program.
Here's all you need to know about it.
Huma Abaddon, Mrs. Anthony Wiener, Mrs. Wiener, Huma, Huma Wiener, she is Hillary Clinton's number one aide, and Huma's mother is best friends with the new first lady of Egypt, the wife of the new Muslim Brotherhood guy Morsey.
That's really all you need to know.
But there's much more to know.
But that's basically that's why Hillary is out celebrating the Brotherhood.
That's why Hillary is joining Obama in telling the military to give it up for the Brotherhood guy.
Because Huma's mom, there's a there's actually uh a group, the the the Muslim sisterhood, essentially that is an offshoot of the Brotherhood.
And Huma's mom is best friends with the new so-called First Lady of Egypt, who is also a member of the sisterhood.
Uh, folks, it's Peyton Place.
It's just, it's it's too much to uh to keep up with.
It was in Boston and a small town of New Hampshire.
Obama didn't pay for security for one of his own fundraisers.
A local taxpayers had to pick up the bill for uh security.
And Obama, he's such a big White Sox fan, he didn't even know where they play.
Kaminsky Park, which they moved out of years ago, and it was never Kaminsky.
That's the Russian version, the Soviet version of the word Komisky.
Had the word Minsk in there.
That's all that mattered to Obama.
Jay Nixon, the governor of Missouri, my home state.
This according to St. Louis Public Radio.
With the United States Supreme Court's decision on health care expected to come Thursday, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon broke with his party on Monday over a key part of the bill.
Speaking with reporters in St. Louis, Governor Nixon sounded more like a republic, a Republican when he was asked about the decision.
He referred to the Affordable Care Act as the Washington Healthcare Law.
He spoke out against the key ingredient, the so-called individual mandate requiring people to buy health insurance.
Governor Nixon said, I think I've been pretty clear here that the health insurance mandate's not something that I think is a good thing.
Without going into great detail, having the government um order you to buy something like that's not something that in the past I've supported.
So Claire's not going to convention.
Jay Nixon torpedoes the health care bill in advance.
What does that tell you about the polling in Missouri as to what people who live there think about this health care bill?
I'm telling you, only 25-28% of people are for this health care bill, and those Dingleberries think that it's free.
That's the only reason they like it.
They think it's free health care.
Blittering idiots don't even know what it's about.
Last summer, Missouri voters approved a referendum by a vote of 71 to 29 rejecting the individual mandate.
71 to 29, no undecided's in there.
So the governor, three days before the ruling, where either Justice Thomas is lionized, or Justice uh uh Roberts, either lionized or turned into Justice Thomas by the media, comes out and says he doesn't want any part of it.
We'll be back.
All right, folks, I watched it last night.
I watched the newsroom, this new Aaron Sorkin thing on HBO, and I read, and I'm gonna share with you, a fantastic review of this show.
It is right on the money.
You're gonna want to hear this.
