And this is a great cigar.
This is a good cigar.
No, it's the Arturo Fuente, Don Carlos, number two.
It tastes really good today.
Greetings, my friends, and welcome back.
Rush Limbaugh, the real anchor man of America.
America's truth detector.
America's Bulwark.
America's Doctor of Democracy all combined here, one harmless, lovable little fuzzball.
Great to have you back.
We'll get to your phone calls in this hour, I promise.
Telephone numbers 800-282-2882.
Now, um, I was talking two different sets of numbers when I said there was a 21-point split.
5140 is 11, uh, not 21.
That let me explain this.
There are two sets of numbers on this, and they're both bad for Obama.
Two sets of numbers, polling numbers on Obama's mandate that religious institutions and organizations must provide birth control and abortion-related stuff.
There are two sets of numbers.
For all employers, all employees, everybody, the split is 5140 oppose Obama.
That's an 11-point split.
Among religious employers, it is 5736.
That's the 21-point spread.
So in both sets of examples, all employers, 5140 oppose Obama's mandate for religious employers, it's 5736.
That's the 21-point split.
The Willis report of employers is out.
It has some major implications for Obamacare since we're talking about this.
Let me go ahead and mention those to you right now.
Employers report.
This is the Willis Report for Employers, the latest report.
Employers report that their health care costs have increased by about 2 to 5%, mainly due to new mandates in the new health law, such as requirements that young adults can continue coverage under their parents' policies.
Everybody thought, well, that's going to bring costs down because the kids aren't going to no.
It raises the premiums for the families, for the adults.
Think the kids get to stay on these policies for free?
Is that what Obama made you believe?
I don't know.
So employers are reporting that their costs are up two to five percent.
More than half of the employer respondents expect to pass on these rising costs of their employees.
You are going to pay some of this.
Moreover, fewer than 30% of employers say they were able to maintain grandfathered status for their health care plans.
What that means is that people are going to be losing their health care, which Obama said would not happen.
Obama said, You like your doctor, you like your plan?
No problem.
No change.
Nothing's gonna change for you.
You'd be able to keep your doctor keep your plan wrong.
Fewer than 30% say they were able to maintain that status, their grandfathered status.
The new report states the accelerated loss of grandfathered status suggests that employers have had to make many plan changes to offset cost increases, and perhaps employers have been more willing to give up grandfathered status in order to take other steps to control costs, which eventually is going to mean getting out of the business.
What it all means is that if you like your health plan, you will not be able to keep it.
That's what all of that means.
Now, again, there's there's more in this John McCormick piece of the Weekly Standard about the Washington Post poll.
So the Washington Post has two stories.
They have a poll that shows that Obama is doing much worse among women after this contraception battle.
Then they have a Story by Karen Tummulty.
And McCormick says if you read the Washington Post report by Karen Tumulty this weekend on the Republican slide among female voters, you'd think the new mandate was a terrible issue for Republicans.
But what are Washington Post readers supposed to think?
What are they supposed to think?
Because the polling data show Obama's lost four points on this issue.
Approval down for, disapproval up for this intense week.
I remember all last week I'm telling people privately off the air.
This is going to backfire.
I mean, I even told you it's all going to backfire.
They go way too far.
You couple this with the fact that they're trying to spin this so-called massive increase in employment with economic growth, but there isn't any economic growth.
It's like Stan Greenberg in his in his advice to Obama, do not run around and talk about this virtual economy that's drawing back.
It won't work for you because it isn't happening, and people are not living it.
Folks, we are a conservative country.
We're just told constantly that we are not, but we are a conservative country.
Here it is again.
This is the weekly standards take on the New York Times poll.
Latest New York Times poll.
Shows that President Obama's approval rating has hit an all-time low one month ago, 50% of Americans approved and 43 disapproved.
Now it's 41 approved, 47 disapproved.
But the new poll also shows Americans strongly support an exemption to the birth control mandate by 57 to 36% for religiously affiliated employers, and by 51 to 40% American support.
So they've lost.
I mean, not only did it backfire, it backfired so bad that Obama lost tremendous humongous ground in approval numbers.
Ezra Klein in the Washington Post, his blog is called Wonk Book.
Something odd is happening in the economy.
Jobs are coming back and relatively quickly, but growth is lagging, or at the least we think it is.
Virtually every estimate of GDP growth for the first quarter is below 2%.
That's a third lower than it was in the fourth quarter of 2011 when payroll growth was lower.
That's not normal.
Typically, payrolls in the economy grow at the same time.
But when that doesn't happen, it's usually because the economy's growing and jobs are stuck.
That's the situation that the term jobless recovery means.
But we don't we don't even have a term for the opposite of a jobless recovery.
We have a jobful recovery, but no growth.
And then Mr. Klein says, well, maybe the preliminary GDP data is wrong.
We hope we hope.
Oh God, they're so hoping, folks.
They're so hoping that the GDP numbers are wrong, that there really is growth to go along with all of these new jobs.
There's a piece I've got it here in the stack by a guy named Joe W. at the Business Insider and discusses how odd the Obama polling numbers are.
These numbers found that while Obama's approval was sinking over the economy, people were beginning to think the economy was getting better.
Now Mr. Klein comes out here with the same meme on the economy.
Something's odd.
Two things are not going together here.
The numbers and how the drive by is want them to look.
On the one hand, the drive buyers are telling us there's great growth in employment, but the economy's not growing.
We need a new word for jobless recovery, which by the way, when they advanced that, you realize how ridiculous that was.
At the time they tried to tell us two years ago, after the stimulus, oh, yeah, it's going to be a jobless recovery.
That was their excuse for aren't going to be any new jobs because of the stimulus bill.
They knew, we knew, they fooled you.
They had everybody believing that the stimulus would create jobs.
They knew it wasn't going to create jobs.
It was to shore up already existing union jobs, primarily in the public sector.
So they they told us it's going to be a jobless recovery.
We all scratched our heads.
How can that be?
How can you have a recovery when there aren't any jobs?
Isn't that the essence of a recovery is people working?
New people, new jobs, i.e.
growth.
Now, what we've got, they claim is all these new jobs, but no growth.
The answer is there aren't any new jobs.
We're still at 370,000 applications for unemployment insurance every week.
We still have unemployment at 8.3%.
We've got two million fewer jobs today than when Obama took office.
There is no job growth, and that's the answer, Mr. Klein, to your confusion.
There isn't any job growth, and there isn't any economic growth.
And how can there be any economic growth with the policies of this administration?
They've got drilling moratoriums for oil.
They're shutting down the Keystone Pipeline, not even allowing it to be built.
That's that's tens of thousands of jobs there.
Two million fewer jobs uh than when Obama took office.
Well it's it's quite simple.
James Pethacukis, our buddy at the American Enterprise Institute, the entire Obama presidency in one anecdote.
He writes that uh one of my favorite moments from the new book, The Escape Artists, How Obama's Team Fumbled the Recovery.
This is actually an excerpt from that book, How Obama's team fumbled the recovery.
Here's the excerpt.
Energy was a particular obsession of the president elects and therefore a particular source of frustration, week after week.
White House economic advisor Christina Romer would march in with an estimate of the jobs all the investments in clean energy would produce.
Week after week, Obama would send her back to check the numbers.
And of course, there weren't any.
And the book says Obama said, I don't get it.
We make these large-scale investments in infrastructure.
What do you mean there are no jobs?
This book claims that Obama sends his uh economic team out every week.
You'll get me the new numbers on clean energy and that sector.
She comes back there, Aren't I?
He doesn't understand it.
Well, we're making all these investments.
Sir, have you ever heard of Celina?
They're all going out of business.
They're all going bankrupt.
There is no business there.
Until you come up with an alternative fuel that'll make a jet Boeing 747 fly, you're not talking reality.
There's not a wind farm, there's not a solar panel, there's not an old, there's not a $50 light bulb.
There is nothing that will put a 747 in the sky other than oil.
Refined to jet fuel, kerosene.
Nothing else will do it.
Not even gasoline, by the way.
So all this is academic.
Until you can give me the fuel that's going to power giant cargo ships and tankers across the seas.
You're whistling Dixie.
There isn't a windmill.
There isn't a wind farm.
There's not a solar panel that'll get a ship.
Any appreciable difference carrying any appreciable cargo.
A tenth of a mile.
Until you come up with something that'll get a 747 or a DC nine, any jet.
Till you come up with any jet in the air.
You're whistling Dixie.
Okay, so Obama doesn't get it.
The book says.
What do you mean?
We're making these large-scale investments in infrastructure?
What do you mean there aren't any jobs?
Now, Petha Kukas writes, let's fast forward to this past September.
38.6 billion dollar loan guarantee program that Obama administered, it promised would create or save 600 or 65,000 jobs.
It's created just a few thousand jobs two years after it began, according to government records.
The program designed to jumpstart the nation's clean technology industry by giving energy companies access to low-cost government-backed loans has created 3,545 new permanent jobs after giving out almost half the allocated amount of money.
So after 19 billion dollars, 3,500 jobs in the energy sector have been created.
So where are the new jobs coming from?
At least the good paying ones?
Are you ready?
Folks, he's sitting down.
From the industry Obama wants to replace as much as possible with clean energy.
Oil and gas, a new report from the World Economic Forum, Davos, where all the libs go to worship.
The World Economic Forum, it is the liberal economic mecca.
Every February, World Economic Forum is estimating that the oil and gas sectors added approximately 150,000 jobs in 2011, 9% of all jobs created in the United States.
And industry Obama is trying to shut down.
Accounted for 9% of all jobs created.
And not a one of those 150,000 is from any stimulus.
Ladies and gentlemen, the truth is that we are in the midst of a full-blown disaster.
We're in the midst of a full-blown incompetent mill or ill-informed, maleducated administration that has created an utter disaster.
We're living right in the middle of it.
A disaster created by an arrogant ignorance by all in the Obama regime.
Now these numbers, 150,000 jobs in the oil and gas sector, while Obama's trying to shut it down, and while Obama's trying to gin up all these jobs and the green sector, 3,500 jobs, oil and gas, 150,000 jobs.
Those numbers are even more impressive once you realize that some 40% of all new jobs are being added in low-pay sectors like retailing and leisure.
So nearly 20% of new good jobs are in oil and gas.
And now I want you to think about the Keystone Pipeline and didn't think about all the lost jobs there due to Obama's moratorium on drilling in the Gulf.
We elected a disaster, and we are living in the middle of one.
Man-made pure unadulterated disaster by the name of Barack Obama.
By the way, this book that I referenced, um Escape Artists, How Obama's team fumbled a recovery, that's written by Big Lib.
The guy's name is Noam Scheiber, and he was a senior editor at the New Republic.
He writes about politics and the Obama regime's economic policies written for the New York Times, the Washington Post, New York magazine, he's a lib.
Writing of the utter incompetence of Obama.
What do you mean there are any green jobs?
Well, after all this investment, after all this investment in infrastructure, we're out of jobs.
Picture this, and I think it's pretty accurate.
We've got a man child in the White House who orders dollars to be spent on a sector, green energy.
And that's it.
That's the magic.
There's gonna be green jobs.
It's just gonna he doesn't see Cylinder go bankrupt.
Or does he not care as long as he gets some of the money back in the form of a campaign contribution?
And all the other cylinders that have gone bankrupt and filed for bankruptcy.
All these solar companies, down the hatch, wind company, down the hatch.
And he's sitting there in the White House by a lib zone admission, befuddled.
That his ordering dollars spent on green energy hasn't led to an economic recovery.
Command economies do not work.
What a shock.
Command and control economy.
Cuba, like the Soviet Union, like you name it, they don't work.
They never have.
To the phones, Wilmington, Delaware.
We're going to start with Michael.
I'm glad you waited.
I appreciate your patience.
And hello, sir.
How are you doing, Rush?
And thanks for taking the call.
Affordable energy is the absolute, I believe, only way back for this country.
Yep.
We cannot create jobs unless we go to the bottom of the job creation ladder.
People have to get to work.
You must have a manufacturer or a person with an idea to open up a little warehouse, a plant, a garage, wherever, and bring energy into that building powerfully and inexpensively.
But Obama knows that.
And he knows if he gives us a five cent KW, a dollar fifty a gallon gas, a decent, decent way of bringing natural gas to our trucks.
He knows he's finished.
He knows their party is finished.
There will be no need for food stamps.
There will be no need for tax reform.
We don't need anything, Rush, other than affordable energy.
What is wrong with the electorate?
So you're no, the the I don't think the electorate's no, no, no.
Don't don't don't be dumping on the electorate.
I think the electorate's uh a little bit more clued in than we all thought.
All right, it's an interesting theory that you have, however, Michael.
Thanks much for the call.
We'll be right back, folks.
Now, what our last caller, Michael, was saying is an interesting point.
Obama, think of this now.
Obama knows that if he could get gasoline at 250 and light bulbs at five cents or kilowatt energy, five cents, whatever, he'd be re-elected and slam dunk.
What's Obama doing?
Obama's out there, I can't do anything about it.
Then there's nothing we can do.
Isn't that a striking contrast, by the way, from when George W. Bush was president, when president could do anything.
He had John Kerry demanding a go talk to the Saudis, jawbone them down to $75 a barrel, whatever.
Bush could have done it.
He could have done it, but he didn't want the oil price down, Obama said.
And all the other Democrats.
They don't want the oil price.
No, no, no.
Because Cheney's with Halliburton all these guys are making big money off big oil.
They're constant lying and impugning of the intentions, the character of Republicans.
Now Obama's I can't do anybody.
Nothing a president can do.
Which is the true statement.
But what Michael was saying, if Obama could get gas down a buck and a half for $2.50, if he had price of energy, kilowatt hour, electricity down.
If he could find a cheap way to get natural gas into automobiles and trucks, he would be re-elected to landslide.
And he will not do it.
Why?
Because that empowers the free market.
That empowers the private sector.
Don't doubt me on this.
Because Michael's point was when gasoline costs five dollars a gallon, more people need food stamps.
When gasoline costs six dollars a gallon, even more people need food stamps.
And who's right there offering them?
Obama.
In fact, who is advertising for new food stamp members, users, the regime.
The Obama administration actively seeking new food stamp users.
Because what Obama wants is a bigger government that he controls.
When gasoline gets cheap, you have more freedom.
You have less need for government, you're able to take care of more things yourself.
That's not what Obama wants.
That's Michael's point.
When he asks, what's the where's the electorate?
Why don't they see this?
I think they do.
I think the electorate sees much more than we give them credit for.
But I want to go back, if you'll indulge me before we get back to the phones, if you'll please indulge me.
I predicted all of this.
This that we've talked about for the first hour and a half of the program, the backfiring of this war on women, the contraception issue, trying to make me Darth Vader.
I want to take you back to what I said on this program on February 24th, not long ago, and on March 9th.
On February 24th, I said, quote, so you may think that this contraception stuff, you may shudder and cower in fear, you may get all nervous.
Oh gosh, can we stop talking about that?
What about the economy?
Come on, rush.
You have people calling me on the phone.
Can you stop talking about this rush?
We got to get back to the economy.
I I got I'd be wealthy if I had a dollar for every caller and every friend and every email begging me to stop talking about this and get back to the economy.
All of these people who had all the answers and knew everything, you've got to stop talking about this rush.
I said, in the meantime, we are losing our religious liberty over this, and that matters to me.
Obama is acting as a dictator on this, and at least seven states now have stood up and said to heck with this.
This issue isn't going away, I said on February 24th.
And I'll tell you something else.
The Democrats are gonna rue the day they ever conceived this trick because it's going to backfire on them.
You remember?
I said that on February 24th.
I said it's gonna backfire on them.
They're going to rue the day they tried this.
They're gonna rue the day they created this war on women, so if they're gonna ruin the day that they brought Sandra Flackham as a as up as a de as a Democrat operative, they're gonna rue the day that they tried to turn this contraception issue into a Republicans hate women thing.
It's going to backfire on them.
And the backfire has started, and it's in their own house organs, the New York Times and the Washington Post.
I also have a see I told you so moment from March 9th.
And this is what I said then.
I want to try something here.
It's very delicate, but I'm going to give it a shot.
It's aimed at those of you who are lacking confidence over the possibility of beating Obama.
Now there's been an event that happened last weekend, and it hit dead legs, and it's gone on throughout the entire week.
It was an event which ended up being directed out of the White House when it was all said and done.
And it's safe to say that this event has backfired on them.
Everything they hope to accomplish this week, they've not accomplished.
They might have accomplished it 25 years ago, but they haven't.
They thought this was the moment they got me, but I am still here.
That's what I said back on March 9th, four days ago.
That would have been last Friday, before the New York Times and the Washington Post polling data came out.
Now it's not over, and I'm not telling you that they're going to give this up.
They've got to have, they have to have something that is a diversion from the economy.
Because that's what's killing them.
The gasoline price, you look at the exit poll data from Super Tuesday, women, 75% economies number one, economy's number two, economy's number three, contraception didn't even matter to women voters on Super Tuesday.
So the regime needs a diversion.
They need something like they did this last week.
They need a demon.
They always must have a demon.
They must have a focus of evil.
I suspect their new one is da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
Sarah Palin.
Ladies and gentlemen, Barack Obama, or a PAC, I forget which, I'm not sure.
I've got a bit of soundbite in here, and I'll get to it before the program ends.
Is running an ad.
Barack Obama is running a re-elect ad against Sarah Palin, who is not running.
So it's time now for them to have a new demon.
In this case, they've got to go back to the graveyard, dig Sarah Palin back up.
And it's bouncing off of the HBO movie, Game Change, which is all part of the plan.
It's all part of a brilliantly conceived plan and what they hope would be flawlessly executed plan.
Now they've got the movie based on the book, Game Change, they've made Palin and all these Republicans look like idiots.
The heroes in that movie are the people who are portrayed as knowing Palin was the wrong choice and admitting that Palin's stupid and all.
Those are the two people that are the heroes in that movie.
Palin, new villain, they need, if not her, for the rest of the week.
She is going to get her fair share of treatment here.
They're running an ad against her.
And she's not running.
So they need their demon.
They need a diversion.
They need something to distract everybody from the economy.
And what a disaster Obama has been for it.
And they may well go back to this.
The war on woman or war on women, the so-called Republican war on women is page two of the Democrat Party playbook.
So they may well go back to it.
They may well convince themselves that the New York Times, Washington Post polls are wrong.
They may ignore them.
They may take a couple days off and then gin all this back up again.
Who knows?
But they'll do something.
It will be something along the order of this fill-in-the-blank Republican.
Is the enemy of women, is the enemy of minorities, is the enemy of the poor, has got to be stopped, has got to be banned, has got to be shut down.
The Democrat Party creates victims so that they can then portray themselves as heroes riding to the rescue.
The Democrat Party will run ads or have people go out and speak to say Hispanics or blacks about how they are being mistreated, about how life is horrible for them, blame it on the Republicans, and then set themselves up as the saviors.
They create non-existent crises for the express purpose of creating in their own minds victims.
Every crisis, every day there's a new one.
They do this to set themselves up as the rescuer.
They, Obama, the Democrat Party, we're the ones that care about you.
The Republicans, they're out to shaft you, screw you, what have you.
We've got to get rid of these Republicans.
We have got to stop them.
They are destroying your life.
But whatever.
I have examples of this too coming up in the program.
So sit tight.
We're going to take a break.
We'll come back and get back to your phone calls right after this.
Don't go away.
By the way, that Palin ad is not from an Obama super PAC.
It is from Obama for America.
It's from his campaign.
Barack Obama is running a re-election ad, attacking Sarah Palin.
They need the diversion.
By the way, the movie Game Change, the HVO movie that premiered on Saturday night, that's designed once again to castigate and destroy Sarah Palin all over again.
The same public relations firm representing Sandra Fluck represents game change.
The same PR firm that handled Sandra Fluck's episode is handling game change.
And do you know who it is?
Anita Dunn, formerly of the White House.
The Mao Tse Tung admirer, by her own admission.
Anita Dunn, Obama's former advisor, is the PR firm for the movie Game Change and for Sandra Fluck.
It's all part of a plan.
It is not accidental.
None of this stuff just happened.
Whoa, look over there.
What just it's all orchestrated.
Now, before we get back to the phones, I'm going to elaborate on this whole point that the Democrats create victims to set themselves up as the saviors.
Thomas Sowell up first.
White House feeds minority paranoia to gain votes.
And what Dr. Sowell does here lays out an ugly truth.
How Obama deliberately creates victims in order for him then to swoop in and claim a rescue for the sole purpose of securing votes.
There have been many frauds of historic proportions, for example.
The financial pyramid scheme with uh Charles Ponze.
Bernie Madoff, his hoax.
But the biggest hoax of the past two generations is still going strong, namely the hoax that statistical differences in outcomes for different groups are due to the way other people treat those groups.
The latest example of this hoax is the joint crusade of the Department of Education and the Department of Justice against schools that discipline black males more often than other students.
Secretary of Education Arnie Duncan says this disparity in punishment violates the promise of equity.
Just who made this promise is unclear.
And why equity should mean equal outcomes despite differences in behaviors, even more unclear.
This crusade by Attorney General Eric Holder and the education secretary, only the latest in a long line of fraudulent arguments based on statistics.
Now the soul piece focuses on statistical differences in discipline between black males and other students, but the technique is used to secure votes in other groups.
Right now, the regime is desperately trying to make the case that Obama will save women voters from Republicans.
How?
By forcing female and male insurance policyholders to pay more so that a few women receive free contraceptives.
Otherwise, some women might have to pay $15 a month or less to buy their own.
So the bully claims to be the nice guy.
So Obama sets up the villain is the Republicans, and of course me.
And who rides in to save the day?
Obama rides in to save the day in the war on women.
Totally manufactured.
And as we know now, it didn't work.
Then the Wall Street Journal and editorial, Mr. Holder again, the attorney general decides that voter ID in Texas is illegal.
And just the same as Thomas Sowell points out in his piece, which was published in Investors Business Daily.
A favorite trick of the Democrats is to create a phony issue which creates fictional victims that they can rescue.
In this piece, the editors of the Wall Street Journal look at Eric Holder's unsubstantiated opinion that voter ID laws in Texas are illegal.
Those dastardly Republicans.
They don't want legal Hispanic voters to vote, don't you see?
Never mind that vote fraud destroys the very idea of free and representative elections.
So Holder rides in there and he's looked at the situation.
He says, you know what?
You Hispanics, the Republicans don't want you to vote.
Except Hispanics and San Antonio, for example, for crying out loud, they're legal for decades, and they've been voting for decades.
Now all of a sudden Republicans don't want them to vote.
With a voter ID.
So they another and voter ID, as you know, big, big issue in a lot of states, the Department of Justice with Holder is coming in and claiming it's unconstitutional or it's discriminatory or whatever it is.
But the whole trick, the whole point is to set up a bunch of non existent victims.
In Texas, it's Hispanics.
Everywhere else it's blacks.
And the administration goes in and they got the help of Al Sharpton, they have the help of Jesse Jackson, and they tell these people Republicans don't want you to vote.
And what they really want you to do is go down to headquarters and have your picture taken.
And while you're there, who knows what else they're going to do to you?
Or who knows what else they're going to make you do?
Or who knows what else they're going to try to find out about you.
This is what Jackson and Sharpton tell.
Their charges.
The evil Republicans.
They want to get in there and they want to get your picture so that when you show up to vote, they tell you you can't.
That's what they want.
That's what they tell them.
Things like that.
And then they set themselves up as the saviors.
So here's a group of people that are not being victimized at all.
They're allowed to vote.
They've been voting.
Ever since the voting rights act, all of these laws, they've been voting with no problem.
But now there's so much fraud that our whole election system is threatened.
And so it's a very simple thing.
We're going to have to have people with photo IDs so that we don't have people voting five times, ten times, or what have you.
Nope.
We're going to have victims created by this.
And then the Democrat Party, Obama Holder, Justice Department, they get to come in, and they are the saviors.
And that's how it's done.
And that's how the Republicans are always evil.
That's how the Republicans are always discriminatory.
So that's how the Republicans are always racist, sexist, big, and homophobe.
It's because the Democrats say so.
Democrats come along and tell an old person the Republicans want to kick you out of your house.
And if you're an old person, you're uninformed, you can't take the chance.
They might be right.
You vote Democrat to make sure you stay in your house.
When the whole thing is trumped up phony, doesn't exist.
Okay, folks, I promise, I promise we will get to your phone calls in the next hour.
But there's still lots to do here.
We have a plethora, we have a gold mine, we have a smorgasbord of informative, illustrative things here.
Export Selection
