Think about how far we've come, folks, in just three years.
Just three years we've gone from birth control abortion is a matter of conscience that we cannot impose on anyone.
To birth control and abortion is a human right that everybody must get for free if they want it.
Now, what other benefits are we entitled to for free?
Even if we have the means to pay for them.
Let me tell you, cell phones, that's true, but this just shows what the religion or the sacrament to the religion of the Democrat Party is.
It's abortion, it's Friday, too.
Let's go live from the left post at our satellite studios in Los Angeles.
It's open line Friday.
That's right, ladies and gentlemen.
We are in Los Angeles here for the final busy broadcast day of an exciting busy broadcast week.
Two more hours to go here on Open Line Friday, and I'm going to get to your uh phone calls in this hour.
Sit tight.
If if you are on the phone, if you are on hold, stay there.
You are on the hole because I L Rushball.
Looking forward to talking to you.
Cell phones are free only if you're poor, snurdly.
Like if you make $40,000 a year or less.
Food stamps, you get anybody get food stamps.
I guarantee you, anybody get food.
I don't think that there is any problem if you really wanted to get food stamps, I'm sure you could find a way.
Telephone number is 800-282-2882.
Here is the sound based.
This is a woman I was referring to in the first hour, and this is becoming it.
It's always been part of the sales technique in the pro-abort crowd of the Democrat Party.
Uh that pregnancy is a health risk, and abortion saves women's lives.
Nobody ever talks about what happens to the baby.
Do they?
Not because it's an unviable tissue mass anyway.
Nobody ever talks about that.
Anybody seen the statistics, the medical research on breast cancer and the birth control pill?
Or uh rather abortion?
Have you seen there is a linkage, abortion, and breast cancer?
It exists.
What are you saying it doesn't?
It does.
It most certainly.
What?
You never heard of that?
There are meta they've looked into it for years.
The correlation of abortion to breast cancer.
The incidence of breast cancer is higher in women who've had abortions.
Hey, it's medical research.
We can't disagree with it.
Here is Gwendolyn Moore.
She is a Democrat from Wisconsin.
This in Washington yesterday on Capitol Hill about the protest against the requirement that religious affiliated organizations cover contraceptive services in their insurance for employees.
It's 15 seconds.
Doesn't take long, but you might think you're listening to Sheila Jackson Lee here.
The National Institute of Health has said that it is a danger to women's health and safety of their families.
That for 30 years to be exposed to the prospects of pregnancy.
This is what we're dealing with.
Did you did you is there anything more patently absurd than this?
Here's a Democrat Congresswoman from Wisconsin.
The National Institute of Health has said that it is a danger to women's health and a safety of their families to be exposed to the prospects of pregnancy.
It is a disease.
Pregnancy is wiping out families.
Stop for a moment and think about that.
What is pregnancy lead to if you leave it alone?
Nine times out of ten, a baby.
What's that?
The family getting bigger, the population growing.
A new person, a living, breathing human being, taxpayer to Democrats.
And this woman is saying that pregnancy is a danger to families.
This is how radically absurd and stupid and ignorant they are, and this is what's driving the debate.
This is the kind of thinking.
Pregnancy Can lead to the death of families.
I didn't make it up.
You heard it.
I don't know, it's 30 years business.
This woman is obviously a raving lunatic and does and can't speak.
Here it is.
The National Institute of Health has said that it is a danger to women's health and safety of their families that for 30 years to be exposed to the prospects of pregnancy.
I don't know what the 30 years means.
I don't know what she's got to do, what she's got to say about it.
But what she means, I don't know what 30 years is, but she does believe she's trying to get people to believe that pregnancy can destroy families.
And she is a Democrat.
I want to move on to Rick Santorum.
You talk about being perfectly positioned.
Rick Santorum, a practicing Catholic, a pro-lifer, a you talk about a candidate who is perfectly positioned to draw the most distinct contrast to Obama and the Democrats and what's going on right now.
Santorum spoke at CPAC this morning.
Conservative Political Action Conference.
And we have uh six excerpt five excerpts from Santorum's speech, which fired up CPAC.
Here's the first of them.
We have to learn our lesson that we need to compromise, do what's politically reasonable, and go out and push someone forward who can win.
Well, I think we have learned our lesson.
And the lesson we've learned is that we will no longer abandon and apologize for the policies and principles that made this country great for a hollow victory in November.
The other thing we should recognize, as conservatives and Tea Party folks, that we are not just wings of the Republican Party.
We are the Republican Party.
Santorum discussing here the origin of human...
Human rights.
When government gives you rights, government can take away those rights.
When government gives you rights, government can coerce you into doing things into exercising the right that they gave you.
I've been traveling around this country talking about how Obamacare will crush economic freedom, will make people dependent upon government for the most important things, their very lives.
And as a result, government will own you because you will have to pay tribute to Washington in order to get the care you need for your children.
One of the reasons I'm in this race.
In fact, the major reason I'm in this race is because I think Obamacare is a game changer for America.
Right on, right on.
And here is a uh a bite.
This is Santorum discussing the uh Health and Human Services mandate.
He says it's about much more than contraception.
He's now telling the Catholic Church that they are forced to pay for things that are against their basic tenets and teachings, against their First Amendment right.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is the kind of coercion that we can expect.
It's not about contraception.
It's about economic liberty.
It's about freedom of speech, it's about freedom of religion.
It's about government control of your lives, and it's got to stop.
And next up, Santorum goes after Romney.
Who has a record of supporting health savings accounts and tort reform and bottom-up consumer-driven health care for 20 years?
And who has supported, in fact, the stepchild of Obamacare?
The person in Massachusetts who built the largest government-run health care system in the United States.
Someone who would simply give that issue away in the fall.
Give the issue away of government control of your health.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're not going to win with money.
We're going to win with contrasts.
We're going to win with ideas.
We're going to win by making Barack Obama and his failed policies the issue in this race.
Probably going to hear a little bit more of this.
Santorum targeting Romney, going after Romney.
Then he makes the notion, Santorum does nukes the notion, that you can only win independence with a moderate candidate.
We won in 2010 because conservatives rallied.
They were excited about the contrasts.
They were excited about the candidates who were put forth in that election.
And that's why we won.
We always talk about, oh, how are we going to get the moderates?
Why would an undecided voter vote for a candidate of a party who the party's not excited about?
We need conservatives now to rally for a conservative to go into November to excite the conservative base, to pull with that excitement, moderate voters, and to defeat Barack Obama in the fall.
I like the premise here.
It's a good question.
Why would an undecided voter vote for a candidate of a party who the party's not excited about?
This is something that the Republican establishment often overlooks.
Okay, the Republican base has a problem with any candidate, candidate A. If that candidate happens to be the establishment's choice, the establishments say, yeah, but we need that candidate to go get moderates.
Yeah, well, fine.
And Dandy, you go get the moderate.
So what if you're not going to get your base out of this?
This is one of the big problems that the uh Republican establishment has now.
And Santorum is exactly right here, folks.
The 2010 midterms saw independence flooding to the Republican Party.
And by the way, that election was not about anybody but Barack Obama.
There wasn't a Republican name that was attracting these independents.
It was total opposition to what Obama was doing.
It was anger and opposition to Obamaism.
The Republican Party should have understood.
I'm even hearing Republicans and some consultants say at 2010 midterms, nothing to do with the November 2012 election, Mr. Limbaugh.
You just, you're not a professional like we are.
You don't understand elections.
You may be good at radio, but you don't understand uh elections.
And at 2010 midterm, nothing to do with the president.
Really?
Nothing to do with the presidential race?
No, there were totally separate issues.
Uh individual congressional races, uh, no national the hell you say, no national mandate.
The independence that you covet abandoned the Democrat Party in droves, and there wasn't a moderate Republican for them to go to.
It was the it was the pure abandonment of Obama.
Why?
They want what Obama is doing or stands for.
Wouldn't it stand to reason if you keep pounding that message that those independents will stay with you?
But there's such a defensive posture.
There's such fear that the Republicans think to hold on to those independents of the presidential race.
We got a moderate uh nominate a moderate or or uh uh and somebody's not offensive, uh, somebody's not conservative.
The consultants that told me, but Rush, where you're missing the boat.
Those those independents that voted Republican, they weren't voting for conservativism.
They really weren't voting for conservative.
No, they're not ideological.
They just don't like what Obama was doing.
Okay, fine.
They don't like what Obama's doing.
What was Obama doing?
Socialism liberalism.
What do we stand for?
The exact opposite.
Give it a voice.
Give it a candidate.
It's not, I don't understand what is so hard about that.
I really understand it's different businesses.
I understand getting votes is a far different thing from getting listeners to a radio show, an audience.
But I I don't quite understand.
No, I do.
I understand this this total devotion to moderates and independents.
Because it comes from uh pure fear and their belief that conservative will end up being landslide defeated like Goldwater was, which is the form the formative memory they have.
Anyway, we got to take a quick time out here, folks.
Well, come back and start on the phones on open line Friday.
Don't go away.
Back we are, Rush Limbaugh, the cutting edge of societal evolution.
Oh, wait, Mike, here's another one.
FYI audio from Soundbites Isn't working for dental camp feats.
I'm being bombarded with this stuff while I'm trying.
Never mind, folks, I'm not gonna bleed on you.
Uh where we Jerry in Long Island in New York.
Welcome to the EIB network.
Hello, sir.
Rush, mega megadillos from New York.
Thank you for taking my call.
It's a thrill to be speaking to you.
Uh very much.
Thank you very much.
You bet.
I was telling certainly your opening monologues are usually amazing, but this morning's just brilliant.
And I think it should be distributed to every high school student in this country.
Because there's absolutely conservatism on parade this morning.
And if our candidates could talk anywhere near what you said this morning, it would be a landslide in November, don't you think?
You know, I uh I I've forgotten what I said.
Uh I thought I opened up talking about the uh Obama Health and Human Service of the abortion boy what what did I say that uh I'm not denying it was great.
I I just don't remember it.
I just I'm never really prompted to call anybody's show when I heard it, I just thought this is conservatism.
Everything you said, Rush, just I don't know which exactly what you said, but it was just conservative.
It has to be I I you you have to be talking about uh my my monologue on how we are losing freedom ever so slowly, each and every day, unnoticeably so to many people.
Absolutely.
Very good.
Well, I i I I appreciate your um your kind words.
Uh I I look at what's happening here, and I'm gonna state this again because I get I did get a uh couple of emails after I talked about the woman in Rock Creek or Rock Springs, Wyoming, whichever it is, denied uh the opportunity to get on an airplane to fly to Denver, and it's a flight she regularly takes.
They know her.
It's a small airport in Wyoming.
They wouldn't let her on the plane because there was not a female TSA agent to pat her down.
She said, Look, I I need to get to Denver.
I will sign a waiver.
Uh and and I will I'll sign a waiver and and let a man pat me down.
Nope, nope, can't do it.
You gotta come back tomorrow.
And she got mad that they wouldn't get a female TSA agent to pat her down, and she was also mad they wouldn't agree for her to sign a waiver.
And so she's talking about the fact that we need more female TSA agents.
And my point was, I understand her getting mad.
What she needs to realize, what she needs to get mad about is all she wants to do is get on an airplane and go to Denver.
And the federal government told her no, the federal government denied her a basic right to get on an airplane fly to Denver.
She doesn't present a threat.
She's well known and so forth.
So this begot email.
Well, what do you expect her to do, Rush?
We're just tiny little citizens out here.
We can't take on the TSA.
It's the government.
I know that.
I'm not suggesting that she get into an argument with them.
What I'm what what this program is all about, we're in the arena of ideas here.
And the first responsibilities I have as host of this show are radio and business responsibilities.
Those have to be met first or nothing else happens here.
So my first job is to attract and whole largest audience I can so we can charge confiscatory advertising rates.
Then, second thing, if you had if I had to state a a mission or issue a mission statement for this program, it would be to create an increasingly informed, educated voting public.
Because it's at the ballot box, this woman who's denied the chance to get on the airplane can go express her anger and get rid of people who will put policies like this in place.
Get rid of people who will pretend the Constitution doesn't exist and trample all over her and everybody else's rights.
Because we're losing freedom, each and every the President of the United States does not have the constitutional authority, legal or otherwise, to tell the Catholic Church one single thing about what it does.
He does not have the authority.
He does not have the authority to tell insurance companies what they must provide and for how much they must charge for it.
He does not have the authority or the right to mandate that every citizen buy a health insurance policy or any other product or service.
He does not have that right.
And yet he's exercising this power each and every day, and as he succeeds in usurping power each and every day, it's power we can't get back as long as people like this are in charge.
And so I'm I'm in favor.
What I hope for is an ever growing large informed participating voting public that votes These people out of office, does so as the result of being informed, it's substantive vote that has a mandate to it.
I am for an ever increasingly informed body of thought in the American people that will render liberalism the genuine minority it is every four years when we vote.
If I had to attach a mission statement to what we do here.
There's I think elections are how things change in this country.
I think they're the legal way that things change.
And this is this is the objective.
So in that woman's case, what I would hope for is that her anger, she'd save some room for realizing that she's losing basic everyday individual liberty and freedom in what's happening to her.
Not get angry that they don't get a female TSA agent in there.
She passively accepted the premise.
She passively accepted the premise that she can be denied boarding an airplane.
Passively accept that she didn't passive passively accept the way they denied her.
But the fact that the government, no, you can't you can't get on this airplane today.
We don't have any female agents.
You got to go away.
Oh, okay.
Well, it's true, it's not a cave.
This Obama hasn't caved at all on this on this abortion business.
There's not a cave here.
He just decided, you know what?
Instead of making the Catholic church give out all this abortion stuff, I'll make the insurance companies do it.
Look what he's achieved.
Barack Obama has just achieved making abortion, contraception, on demand, paid for by taxpayers, part of the fabric of American life.
By edict.
He just issued the edict from the White House.
There's no legislation, there's no participation by the elected representatives of the people.
He just by edict did it.
Hi, welcome back.
Great to have you, Rush Limbo here on the Excellence in Broadcasting Network.
This guy talked about my uh opening monologue in the uh first hour in the opening segment.
I'm realizing some of you might not have heard it if uh a local EIB affiliates cut away to cover the president, who also appeared shortly after this uh program began.
And one of the themes, my opening comments was reacting to everywhere I'm seeing in the media that Obama finally backed down.
Obama caved.
Yes, he did.
We talked him back.
We no longer, he can't tell the Catholic church what to do.
Obama got the message, Obama, he's slinking away in shame.
I said, No, he's not.
And no, he did not cave in any way, shape, manner, or form.
Obama offers a compromise proposal, said to be respectful of religious concerns.
Now look at this.
The right to religious liberty in this context is unequivocal in our country and in the Constitution.
Since when does a president have the power to threaten to issue a rule gutting religious liberty, and then claims the power to make compromises on that issue.
He doesn't have the power to do anything that he did today.
He doesn't have the power to dictate that anybody anywhere provide taxpayer-funded abortion or abortion services or contraception.
He doesn't have the, he doesn't, and particularly with the separation of church and state and the Bill of Rights, government can't, they just can't get involved in religion in any way, shape, matter, or form.
But when it's abortion and when it's a Catholic church, and when it's Obama telling them, hey, we know you don't like abortion, but guess what?
You're gonna start paying for them.
Ha ha ha ha.
He can't do that.
Then he comes along and offers a compromise.
Okay, uh, we'll shift my demand that this be done to the insurance companies.
Nobody says, good, we beat him back.
No, you didn't.
Nobody beat Obama back on this.
He just now telling another group he has no legal authority over what they're gonna have to do.
He can't any more tell a Catholic church what they have to do than he can tell insurance companies what they have to do.
Not by fiat.
The president does not have the kind of power Obama is wielding.
But he'll get away with it as long as nobody tries to stop him.
Recess appointments when there aren't any recesses, fine, he'll do it.
If the Senate is not going to stop him, if he's going to make recess appointments when we're not even in recess and the Senate accepts it, why stop if you're him?
Just because it's unconstitutional doesn't mean that that alone is going to disallow him from doing it.
He is clear people rob banks even though it's against the law.
And if we stop trying to catch bank robbers, a lot more people would be robbing banks.
If we stop trying to catch murderers, a lot more people would commit murder.
By the same token, the law doesn't stop people from doing things.
It's the enforcement that does.
So if the Senate's not going to enforce its own rules and stand up for itself, Obama's going to keep getting away with this.
So the Catholic Church did stand up.
They say, you can't make us do this.
This is outrageous.
Obama's okay, fine, fine.
I'll move on.
I'll make the insurance companies do it.
At the end of the day, he's still mandating that a business or an industry over which he has legal, no legal authority whatsoever, must now at his direction make available free contraception, abortion related services.
He doesn't have this authority.
He didn't have the authority to make the initial demand.
He doesn't have the authority to make the compromise.
And this is how we lose our liberty and how we lose the Constitution.
The suggestion that Obama has the power to alter that which he doesn't have the power to do in the first place is unacceptable.
This is, I guess another way of illustrating this is.
And this is exactly what happened today, by the way.
Obama does something that's so abhorrent to people that they stand up and say, can't do that.
Making Catholic Church pay for, fund, make available abortion services, contraception services.
He'd have the authority to do that, but the moment he backs down in their minds and shifts the responsibility insurance companies, people say, okay, fine, good.
He doesn't have the authority to do either.
He got away with it.
He just switched the victim in this case.
So just like the woman who got angry, in my estimation, the wrong thing in Wyoming when they wouldn't let her on the airplane, people today who think Obama got beat back are missing the point.
He wins big.
He has just codified now the notion that taxpayers via insurance companies or whatever can be forced to provide whatever he demands be provided.
And that whoever pays for it at whatever price he suggests or demands will become the law of the land.
This is not the United States of America.
This is not the U.S. Constitution.
And if people think they have won when Obama backs off for making the church do it when he had no authority to do that in the first place.
You think that you've won because you've shifted this now to the insurance companies.
You haven't won anything.
He's still exercising the same unconstitutional power.
He's still making edicts.
He has no authority and not power to do.
That's why in the opening monologue, I was railing against this notion that there's been a giant cave here.
Thank you.
There's no compromise.
There's no negotiation.
There's no phony Obama is not empowered to interfere with religious liberty.
Pure and simple.
But he's gotten away with it here in spades.
And this illustrates by the little microcosmists illustrates the danger of Obamacare at large.
Everything can be called a matter of preventative care.
The way he's selling this.
The way they've they've done this, Obama and the White House love to say this mandates about preventative care.
This is from their fact sheet that they just released on this today.
Under the new policy to be announced today, women will have free preventive care that includes contraceptive services no matter where she works.
So we're not even talking about Abortion now.
We're not even talking about the killing of a baby.
We're talking about preventive care.
So, under that rubric, Obama's a savior.
Obama is a hero.
He is preventing illness.
What he's doing is good.
What he's doing is filled with love and compassion and goodness, they want us to believe.
And so he can tell us how to live every aspect of our lives to prevent us from getting sick.
Whatever he can redefine as preventive medical care, he can make us do.
If that involves what you can and can't eat, uh where you can and can't breathe, where you can and can't so-called pollute the air, the authority that he's gonna end up with after this, if it's fully implemented, is genuinely frightening and shocking scary.
Preventive care, the new definition keeping women from being punished with babies.
Because as we heard today from Gwendolyn Moore, pregnancy leads to the destruction of families.
And so Obama's coming in to save the day, saving families, saving women's health, preventive care by making abortion available, contraception available, paid for by whoever he makes, pay for it, provided by whoever he demands, provide it.
So there was no cave.
There was no beating Obama back.
There was no winning the day in any way, shape, manner, or form.
By the way, the story here is 2007.
I've had a number of people tell me they didn't know, they hadn't heard about this link to abortion and breast cancer.
Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons is 2007, though.
Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons published a study yesterday entitled The Breast Cancer Epidemic.
It showed that among seven risk factors, abortion is the best predictor of breast cancer.
Fertility is also a useful predictor.
The study by Patrick Carroll of PAPRI, Papri in London, showed that countries with higher abortion rates, England and Wales, could expect a substantial increase in breast cancer incidence.
Where abortion rates are low, Northern Ireland, the Irish Republic, a smaller increase in breast cancer is expected.
Where a decline in abortion has taken place, like Denmark and Fenlin, a decline in breast cancer is anticipated.
And this is based on studies.
This guy used the same mathematical model for a previous forecast of numbers of breast cancer in future years for England and Wales, based on cancer data up to 1997 that has proved accurate for predicting cancers observed in years 1998 to 2004.
So it's a it's a British group, and they're studying it in England and uh and European countries.
But this is by no means the only story that's ever been published on this.
It's uh quite common.
Now, not in the drive-by media, but if I know about it, it's happening.
And I it there is how many different links I've seen, different uh studies.
Who went ballistic the first time I did.
Oh, well, uh I think they do every time.
I do I do remember first mentioning this five or six years ago, and and of course, any time uh you succeed in piercing the protective cocoon in which the left lives, they act like stuck pigs.
Uh any time you come up with a winning uh pro-life argument, they go batty.
They go nuts.
And this the one of one of the unspoken controversies, by the way, between the Susan Coleman Foundation and Planned Parenthood.
You got it even I fail to make this connection.
Folks, you've got Coleman, which is a foundation trying to eliminate or reduce breast cancer.
Now you've got Planned Parenthood, which is conducting abortions, which lead to an increase in breast in breast cancer, and the president of the Coleman Foundation eliminated some of the funding for Planned Parenthood based on some guidelines that they have.
Uh she's been forced to walk the plank and resign, by the way, that's the latest on that.
But that's that that was an unspoken undercurrent going on between these two groups, and that's why Planned Parenthood went absolutely batty when Coleman pulled their money.
There are links, and they have been documented by medical authorities that are irrefutable on the linkage to abortion and breast cancer.
I gotta take a break here.
We'll do that and be back, and more phone calls coming up as Open Line Friday rolls on.
Don't go away.
Don't go away.
I went through a litany of things.
The Democrat Party is famous for telling us we can't do freedoms that they tell us we don't have.
Things that we can't like can't throw a beach ball or a Frisbee or football on the beach in law in LA County.
Because one person might have got hit in the head, so now we can't do it.
They tell us we're the party and no, and they're the ones proscribing all of these activities that used to be common everyday freedoms.
So what we've done, I told Coco, I said, look, I can't go back and repeat hours.
That's uh do it, but we want to keep moving forward.
So Coco has posted already the first hour at Rushlimbaugh.com for those of you who missed it because you were uh your station carried Obama.
It's now if you can read it, see it, transcription is there, and the audio from the uh opening hour.
As well as those of you in the media who want to be able to misquote it, uh, it's there for you as uh as well.
Okay, Lee, New York City.
Thank you for waiting.
Your next on open line Friday.
Hello.
How are you, Rush?
It's an honor to speak to you.
Thank you very much, sir.
Appreciate that.
Uh, as you were saying, you're spot on with your your analysis there.
This this administration has been doing it from the very beginning.
Uh it's almost like dealing with your child, where your child wants a uh you lost a curfew and wants to go out, and you set a time, and the child tells you two hours later than what your curfew time is, and then you back off and give them the extra hour you never planned on giving them.
This is the same as Obama and his administration.
They always ask for way more than what they're intentionally looking for, knowing that when they back off, they're still going to uh reach the middle ground goal that they were originally wanting to attain.
Standard negotiating tactic.
The thing is, this bunch doesn't stop.
They're pushing this envelope you're talking about every day.
There's no breathing room.
We don't have time to every day.
They are expanding the scope of Obama's own personal power every day.
And that's that's the purpose of it, too, because no one can get together and complain about a certain topic because every day it's a new one.
Every day, every week, just like when they make their controversial announcements, always on a Friday afternoon when everybody's on their way home and going away for the weekend, and nobody hears about what mandate or what thing he did on a Friday that he knew he wouldn't be able to get.
But since he did it on a Friday afternoon, nobody hears it.
Well, that's true.
I'll tell you the challenge now, the requirement now is to wake up, average ordinary citizens who don't pay attention to this kind of stuff this far out from elections.
It's time to call people's attention to the daily erosion of simple, never before even considered challengeable liberties and freedoms.
We're losing them each and every day.
And it's not by accident, it's not by some bumbling guy who's in over his head.
Happening by design.
And furthermore, this guy has told us he intends to do all this.
All we have to do is have the courage to believe what he says.
