Time Text
Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 247 podcast.
Well, you mean uh Sununu and Huckabee are mad at me.
Is that what you mean?
Why, I I I yeah, I get that kind of is the question.
Who isn't mad at me?
Hi, folks, how are you?
Here we are, Rush Limbaugh and the Limbaugh Institute, advanced conservative studies on Friday, live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida.
It's open line Friday!
Here we are at the end of the busy broadcast week.
Chugging on into the week, and we got a political debate Saturday night that few people will see.
Because we've got the NFL wild card playoffs starting.
Tomorrow afternoon and into tomorrow night.
We are on top of all of it.
We're underneath some of it, too.
Telephone number is 800-282-2882.
If you want to be on the program, the email address.com.
Time to party down, gang.
Time to party time.
Well, because of what I'm saying about Romney.
Uh Sunu and uh Huckster are not happy with me over what they think I'm saying about Romney.
Anyway, we'll get to all that.
Don't get me distracted.
It's party time.
It's time to party down, folks.
It's never been better.
Eight and a half percent unemployment.
The economy's back.
Obama's policies are working.
The media is having orgasm after orgasm after orgasm.
I kid you not.
Eight and a half percent.
It's time to throw a party.
They have so dumbed down our expectations.
That eight and a and all of this, every syllable of it, I predicted.
Get into the eights, and it doesn't matter.
It is going to be mediasm after mediagasm after media gasm.
And by the way, I've got a question.
Here's Obama out there.
What can somebody explain to me something very quickly?
What is the difference in laying off soldiers and laying off uh cops?
On the one, Obama cannot wait to cut soldiers.
He cannot wait to lay off soldiers.
On the other hand, we cannot allow budget cuts to touch firemen or cops or teachers.
What's the difference?
Look how eager Obama is to cut soldiers.
Look how eager Obama is to cut uniform personnel that protect us in the U.S. military, but he will not even entertain one cut of uniform personnel that protect us in our cities.
What's the difference?
Seriously, folks, what is the difference?
Exactly right.
The military doesn't have a union and it doesn't kick anything back to Obama, but it's deeper than that.
It's deeper than that.
Obama considers the military to be the focus of evil in the world.
The U.S. military is responsible for the misery in the world and all the imperialism.
Well, I don't get the difference.
I mean, in a strictly intellectual sense.
So the next time you have some leftist talking to you, either celebrating angry what have you about the need to cut the military.
You ask them, well, how come we can't cut firemen then?
How come we can't f cut cops?
And there's no difference.
They're first responders.
Cops and firemen sacrosanct.
We can't cut one of them.
Why, our country will fall apart.
Our communities will fall apart.
We can't dare.
Our children will be hurt.
Our children will be unsafe.
Soldiers, get the hell rid of them.
Cut them.
Cut the military.
Parrot back.
Thanks to Barack Obama.
The visceral hate For the military, most leftists have it.
Obama has it.
Takes his anti-war mentality, applies it as president, loves securing military defeat and humiliation.
But when it comes to the cops, oh no, no, no.
Not one police officer will lose his job.
We will not have a press conference, we'll not go anywhere explaining why that police department had to be cut back, why that police department had to be cut back.
No, no, no, no.
No excuse will ever be offered, no justification.
In fact, every effort will be made to make sure that we don't cut a single cop.
In fact, it's even worse than that.
Obama and the Democrats will tell you that that's what the Republicans want to do is cut cops and firemen and make your kids less safe.
Whenever we have to get serious about austerity, bringing budgets back into line, as you know, the Democrats, well, first thing we have to do is cut cops and firemen and teachers.
No.
But when it comes to cutting the military, why that's a snap.
Why we don't even think about it.
But now back to this 8.5%, folks.
Since when in this country, do we celebrate even this?
As fraudulent as it is, this 8.5% is fraudulent.
The news is out there, something like 200,000 jobs created, surging in December.
However, 42,000 of them are seasonally adjusted couriers and messengers.
There's a there's a seasonal in December, a category called couriers and messengers.
They're hired during the holiday season.
They're temps.
Forty-two thousand of them.
They will not be counted in January, February, because they're let go.
But this looking, I wicked nitpick here on the numbers.
That misses the point.
The point here is what we were talking about yesterday.
It doesn't matter.
The truth is not what is important here.
It's what's being reported.
I can sit here all day and tell you how these jobs numbers are not accurate.
That is not going to matter.
The news is Obama's policies are working.
The news is it's finally kicking it.
The news is the economy is growing.
The news is jobs are being created.
Those of us that have a truth and the facts on our side are seen as nitpickers, uh, just can't get with the program, don't want America to do well.
The inertia is, and every bit of this, every bit of this was entirely predicted.
So here we are at 8.5% unemployment, and we're being told we need to celebrate this.
As fraudulent as that number is, it's party time.
The black unemployment rate is still 16%.
The number of jobs that have been destroyed in the country is over two million.
The universe of available jobs is way down.
There's nothing worth celebrating in this, is my point.
And yet we are being told that it's party time, time to celebrate.
Since when do we celebrate millions of unemployed people, millions on government benefits because they can't find jobs, and then claim this is progress, or claim that this is a recovery?
This is offensive to me, but it's where we are today.
This assumes, ladies and gentlemen, this assumes that we accept the notion of a systemically high unemployment level.
The new normal.
This is it.
This is it.
Eight and a half, nine, this this is party to this is great news.
This is the Obama recovery working.
Millions of unemployed, we celebrate it.
Millions on government benefits because they can't find jobs.
We celebrate it.
And then we claim this is progress.
So we accept the notion of a systemically high unemployment level when in fact we know this isn't necessary.
We know how to break through the roadblocks that Obama has constructed to get to real economic growth.
There is no economic growth taking place.
And that's the truth that's not being reported, And then that's what underlies the myth and the fraud that's being reported today.
There is no economic recovery taking place, and yet we're being told that there is.
And furthermore, we're being told to celebrate it, and we're being told that Obama has made it possible.
Fraud after fraud after fraud after fraud.
Yeah, that's right.
It wasn't, but a few short months ago, black caucus was all ticked off.
Well, the congressional black Caucasians are all ticked off because there wasn't significant job creation in their community, and there still isn't.
Unemployment of black community is still at 16%.
Our buddy James Pethacucas, if the same number of jobs existed in the country today as existed when Obama was inaugurated, the unemployment rate would be 10.9% today, not eight point five.
10.911%.
So all this money, let's take a look at what got us here, folks.
I know sometimes people, do you ever feel like you're beating your head against the wall?
Yeah, I do.
Of course I do.
Don't you?
Don't you feel like you're beating your head against the wall when you know you're up against a bunch of fraud, and all you've got is a truth on your side, and you're banging your head up against the wall, and you can't convince people of it.
Well, people are being convinced.
I guarantee you, though, there are a lot of people today who are buying into this.
The ill informed, the uninformed, the uh the what if the election were held today, the election were held today, even with this news.
Obama loses, but this is January.
We've got 11 more months of this kind of stuff.
No, I'm not going anywhere.
I'm not going anywhere, and you're not worried.
Okay, well, then so be it.
But let's take a look.
Where we got 8.5% unemployment.
Time to party down.
How do we get here?
All of the money that's been spent.
All of the debt that's been created.
All of the deficits.
We are, Marco Rubio has sent a letter to Obama.
You are about to make this a deadbeat nation.
Our national debt is trickling ever close to 16 trillion dollars.
When Obama took office, the national debt was barely over 10.
We've added that much to the national debt with annual deficits, and we are told to celebrate today.
So it cost that much money to get us to this wonderful unemployment rate of 8.5%.
Mind you, no president since FDR has been re-elected with an unemployment rate over 7.2%.
And the media is reporting that today.
But you know what else they're doing?
They're saying this time it's different.
Because the trend line is what's going to be important.
By the time we get the November elections, the trend line is what's going to matter.
And they're telling us they're going to take care of that.
They're going to be reporting the trend is continually down.
So 8.5% unemployment.
Millions of unemployed people, millions of jobs lost, millions of people on government benefits because they can't find jobs.
And this is the progress we have.
This is what we have to show for trillions of dollars in deficit spending.
Trillions of dollars.
The unemployment rate is still higher than when Obama took office.
The media is reported at the unemployment rate lower than it's been in three years.
They don't tell you lower than since Obama was inaugurated, but that's the truth.
Five trillion dollars in deficit later.
We have an 8.5% unemployment rate.
That's it.
This is what we're supposed to party down over.
And of course, we have to provide the perspective here because few others will.
So we've got $5 trillion in new deficits.
We ignore the millions who've dropped out of the workforce.
We ignore all those who are holding part-time rather than full-time jobs.
And the best Obama can come up with the best the Democrats come up with the best the media come up with 8.5%, and we are supposed to celebrate today.
How much of these jobs cost?
Morning News reports this is a good picture.
There are 6 million fewer jobs today than there were in 2008, folks.
Six million fewer jobs available in this country than there were three years ago.
The unemployment rate is 15.2% when you include those who have dropped out and those who want full-time jobs that have to take part-time jobs.
That's the latest figure.
So the Obama plan, the Obama plan shrink the workforce, expand the welfare state, and then claim economic progress, then slash the military, take that money, and subsidize public sector employees who vote reliably Democrat, like NEA members.
That's the Obama plan.
In a nutshell, and that's where we are.
I got to take a quick timeout.
You sit tight, we'll be back and continue right after this.
Don't go away.
Open line Friday.
That means you get to talk about pretty much whatever you wish to talk about.
Monday through Thursday.
Callers have to discuss things I care about, but we waive that requirement on Thursday.
So this is your chance.
This is uh one of the greatest career risks ever taken by an accomplished major media figure like me.
And that is turning over the all-important content of the program to veritable rank amateurs, certainly uh people not professionals, as opposed to me, a highly trained broadcast specialist.
Uh have subjects introduced on the program you think need to be talked about, maybe that aren't being whatever.
800 282-2882 if you want to be on the program.
The uh Associated Press has given away the game.
As far as reporting on the economy will how it will be this year, in their article today on the jobless rate in December, with this with this really exciting party down 8.5% unemployment rate.
AP claims the unemployment level may matter less to Obama's reelection chances if the rate continues to fall.
History suggests that president's reelection prospects hinge less on the unemployment rate itself than on the rates direction during the year or two before election day.
Isn't that convenient?
And of course, regardless what the unemployment rate is, what direction do you think it will be reported to be going?
That's of course correct.
They will be recording, reporting the unemployment rate as falling.
All predictable.
Meanwhile, the government is hiring.
Drudge has this up on his page.
In case you haven't seen it, I wanted to run this by you.
The new consumer financial protection bureau, which for all intents and purposes is illegal since it has not been congressionally approved.
This, I think, is the uh the organization that uh uh this recessed appointment has taken place, the guy to head this up.
The job at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is to keep track of invitations.
And they want to pay somebody with no qualifications over a hundred thousand dollars a year to keep track of invitations.
No, no, I'm not kidding.
Job title, invitations coordinator.
Agency, consumer financial protection bureau.
Subagency, consumer financial protection bureau.
Salary range 53,500 to 102,900 per year.
Uh qualifications, all you gotta do is be a U.S. citizen to keep track of invitations.
535 to 103 grand a year to keep track of invitations.
Now you might be, what kind of invitations?
Well, I don't know.
It doesn't specify what kind of invitations.
Well, what kind of invitations are there?
I mean, is this place going to be throwing a bunch of parties?
And they're going to be inviting people to parties and events.
The consumer financial protection bureau, which again is illegal.
Congress has not approved it.
This all took place with the recess appointment.
And so what?
He says, Do you want to be a leader in your field?
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
You can, you can be in charge of invitations at this new government agency.
103,000 a year.
And we are back, Rush Limbaugh, America's real anchor man and the doctor of democracy, America's truth detector here at the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
This is interesting.
This uh this cleared about 7.30 last night.
White House said to have no new plan for mortgage refinancings.
It's a Bloomberg story.
The White House has no plans for a new mass mortgage refinancing program.
An administration official with knowledge of the matter said Bank of America Corporation led a surge in shares of U.S. lenders today on speculation that the regime might provide more aid to distressed homeowners.
Now, this was a real story, and it was a real story from James Petacoukas.
And it was sourced with administration people.
This if it was highly detailed.
We had it yesterday, spent a lot of time detailing it on this program, what it was going to be.
And now all of a sudden, at the end of the day yesterday, the regime puts out this announcement.
No, no, no, no.
We're not doing any of that.
I wonder why.
Wonder why the regime did that.
Do you understand the fur that must have been flying?
You understand the phone calls that must have been flying all over this country when people found out about this mortgage refinancing HARP two, it was going to be.
It's a real thing.
And now the regime said, no, no, no, no.
No plan to uh refinance mortgages.
Unstated in the story is Limbaugh doesn't know what he's talking about.
But don't believe them.
It's an idea.
It's a serious idea.
They've got it.
There are detailed plans.
Jim Pathacukas found them.
Reported.
People are looking at it, thinking about it.
One fell swoop, it'd be it'd be buying an election.
1.2 trillion dollar stimulus plan.
Cut 400 to 500 a month off of everybody's mortgage payment, and all you have to do to qualify is be three months current.
And now all of a sudden the regime says, no, no, no, no, no such plan.
No such plan.
Wonder what happened.
What went wrong?
Well, we beat it back for a while.
The big mistake was that somebody leaked it.
This is the kind of thing that they're going to do under cover of darkness now.
They haven't given this up.
They're going to do this.
This is a lot of time left to buy votes in uh in this election.
Uh by the way, Jim Pathacukis again here.
Uh again, and I mentioned this in the in the first half hour of the program, the unemployment rate, if the size of the U.S. workforce was the same as when Obama took office.
It'd be 10.9%, not 8.5%.
I just Obama is out announcing the uh the formation of this new consumer agency, another bloated bureaucracy.
I'll tell you, it was puke-inducing to listen to Obama talk about you you would have thought we just had the greatest year of economic recovery in the history of the country.
More jobs created Than at any year since 2005.
More manufacturing jobs.
Three million jobs created since I was inaugurated.
All of this, one lie after another.
And of course, the assembled administration people are applauding at the right time.
And you got the administrator of this new agency there, the guy who's been recess appointed.
And by the way, that that agency, this uh uh job offering that we mentioned, invitation coordinator.
I looked into it further.
What it actually is is somebody to coordinate all of the incoming invitations.
For members of this consumer finance protection board, it's assumed they're going to be invited to go to external meetings, panels, roundtables, conferences, and other events all over the country, like Bank of America might invite them to show up something, or Wells Fargo, uh, or another government age.
that are going to be flooded with invitations.
And this job is to coordinate the incoming invitation, sort of like the job HR has.
Of course, HR's job is to just say no when I get all the invitations.
It's all the answer he has to know.
Everybody that asks gets told no twice to see how serious they are.
Very easy job, actually.
If once you master saying no, it's very difficult for some people say no to people.
And they do what?
Yeah, but this agency doesn't.
This agency, this is a brand new agency, Snerdley.
This is a brand new agency, and they are they're they're they're they're saying they're gonna be flooded with requests for their experts to go appear on panels and seminars, and so this job is to handle all the incoming of I the way I read it, I thought this guy was in charge of sending out invitations to cocktail parties.
The Washington Post on the unemployment news, this is Michael Fletcher, unemployment outlook remains mixed.
Indications are that the nation's gloomy jobs picture continues to brighten, but experts disagree on two crucial points.
The pace of improvement and whether the recent gain in momentum will continue through 2012.
It's actually not mixed, it's quite clear.
Some people are trying to mix up the employment outlook, is what's going on here.
The game being played is to massage and make up uh and falsely report the outlook here.
But throughout this Washington Post Peace, the experts agree that it still remains gloomy.
How could it not look at all of the millions of people who've given up looking for work, the millions of jobs that we used to have that we don't have, the millions of people on government support programs who otherwise would not be on them because they can't find jobs.
And yet, we're told today that we should be celebrating.
Time to party hardy, time to party down.
Uh from uh what is this?
I don't know what this website is, crew of 42.com.
Uh 15.8% is the black unemployment level, and it is up in December.
Despite 200,000 jobs being created, I guess none of them were for African Americans.
15.8% for black unemployment, overall unemployment rate lowest in three years, and that's great news, but the black unemployment rate is worse than ever at 15.8%.
So where will be the congressional black Caucasians on this?
Certainly they're not going to be uh not going to be happy.
Audio sound bites.
This this one's getting a little play out there, and I wanted to hear it myself, and I haven't heard it yet.
Obama was out in uh Shaker Heights, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.
From what I'm told is where the rich people of Cleveland live.
And uh Obama was there speaking at Shaker Heights High School speaking about the economy, and I'm told the students laughed at him, not With him when he told them that they inspire him.
Uh I I want you to know you're the reason why I ran for this office in the first place.
You remind me what we are still fighting for.
You inspire me.
Okay.
You do.
They didn't believe him.
They didn't.
He went too far.
He stretched the bounds of truth a little bit too far.
When he told them he ran for them, they didn't quite buy that.
You could tell.
When he they were the reason why he ran for the office first place.
And then when he said, You remind me what we're still fighting for.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
You inspire me.
They're with dead air there for three seconds.
There was the students say, what?
It took that long for this to write.
You inspire me.
And they laughed.
Now you go back.
Remember the first year where the kids are singing songs to Obama.
And Obama would show up, and it was it was uh well, I don't know, take a figure mythology had arrived.
Uh God, the Messiah.
Now he shows up and says, You inspire me, and they stop and look at each other and then start laughing.
I wonder what these kids think of the unemployment news today.
It's Open Line Friday, Rush Limbaugh on that cutting edge of societal evolution.
Let's grab the phones.
It's uh to try to always go to phones in the first hour of Open Line Friday, and they're taking more phone calls than uh than possible.
I'm also doing some research.
I I just got a note that I've got I've got to research.
Um if you look at the raw numbers of unemployed people, the number actually went up by more than 70,000 is the claim here that I just received, and I'm checking this.
Uh, because the number 200,000 jobs created, but then the experts were expecting uh a loss of jobs.
So there's a there's a there's a lot of massaging of the numbers going on here.
Uh most of the predictions I saw expected an increase of 150,000 jobs.
I never saw anybody expecting to lose 400,000.
So all these numbers are flying around, and uh I I've got a I've got to double check this, but I really want to check this number that if you look at the number of unemployed, it actually went up by more than 70, 70,000 more unemployed raw numbers than last month uh than November.
That I gotta double check.
Regardless, whatever's going on, the numbers being massaged, and it's being uh the actually the number is is secondary as AP has given away.
It's the direction, it's the momentum, it's the initiative.
It's sort of like uh the media on this recess appointment.
There's a there's a story here from uh the daily caller.com.
And this this story is about how the media and the White House are having the biggest time frustrating the Republicans.
The White House and the media know that this was an illegal appointment, but they're having the most wonderful time seeing how frustrated the Republicans are over it.
And so this is the next nine months in a nutshell.
The media will be an unquestioned adulation of the president of the Democrats, like they were with Clinton.
Didn't didn't we the fact that Clinton got away with all that stuff is what impressed them.
They knew Clinton was lying, they knew Clinton was doing to Lewinsky.
They knew Clinton was doing all this.
The fact he was able to get away with it with their help, that was the thrill.
And it's the same thing here with Obama.
So we do not have a media that is in any way focused on news, truth, anything of the sort.
They are totally focused on how much fun it is to flummox the opposition and how when the White House does it, how wonderful that is.
And how the media will help do that.
So where are we starting?
We're starting in Plantation Florida.
Hi, Linda.
I'm glad you called.
You're up first on open line Friday.
Hi.
Good afternoon, sir.
How are you?
Very well.
Thank you.
Good.
And I I must say I hear people all the time say when you pick up the phone it's an honor to talk to you, and I'm like, their words, no, you have no idea it's an honor.
It's a true feeling.
Um second of all, I wanted to get your take on uh Donald Trump announcing that he's going to be running uh as an independent.
Well, um I saw that I've not talked to him about it.
I played golf with Trump back in January uh December, back in December.
Uh and I tried bringing this up.
I I tried bring uh at i this was before the debate that he was doing with uh with with newsmax that ended up being canceled because nobody would show up to it.
I think only only Gingrich and I forget who else agreed to show up.
He didn't want to talk about it.
He did not want to talk about politics.
He didn't want to talk about the debate.
Uh he didn't he didn't want to talk about his uh his own presidential plans.
He's done this before.
He's gone this route before.
I I I um I know a lot of people who think not a lot.
I know some people uh who who think that uh th that that Trump is a secret agent for Obama.
You know, but I'm I'm starting to think the same thing because in the beginning, uh when Obama first got elected, Trump was out there saying he was better than Bush, this is a bright young man, uh, you know, he's an up and comer, and he stood behind Obama like a sentinel, and then he came out um in 2011 and said, No, he's the worst president, we gotta get rid of him, and then he's gonna split the vote by running as an independent.
Well, that's just gonna get Obama right back in office.
He's d he's done this.
I he I I've I don't know.
I don't know, this is my instinct.
I think Trump's gonna run for office.
I don't think he's gonna run as a Republican.
I don't think he's gonna run as an independent, uh, but he's going to talk.
But he's gonna talk about it.
Pardon?
You think this is just fanfare?
He's just saying that, but there's no basis to it.
Well, I don't know no, I d I don't know uh whether he's being disingenuous.
I'm not saying that.
I I th I think that he'd probably drop out before things get too serious.
I I don't I don't I don't think he really I'm shooting blind here.
I I because I I tell I tried to bring this up, he did not want to talk about it.
And he was not rude about it.
He just he said uh d wanted to talk about golf and his golf course and uh in the tournament and and some of the stuff that he had coming up later on that has nothing to do with with politics.
Well, does this concern you though?
No.
Not at all.
No.
Because there's nothing I can do about it.
Oh, well, no, no, no, I understand that, but I'm just saying, as as removing Obama from office office, this will be an obstacle of a greater one than we already have.
Now I for look at people employ all kinds of devices and tools to attract attention.
Now saying that you're gonna maybe run for office third party because you're fed up with both parties.
Well, people are gonna listen to you.
People are gonna pay attention.
And then when you've got their attention, then you do what you really have in mind.
Whatever it is, I have no idea.
But I just I don't see Trump wanting to pay cut.
I I I I don't see his I don't want to comp compromise his lifestyle.
Um that's a twenty-four seven three sixty-five job.
Um, I I I'm sure, but the the the you know, the future of the country's at stake, so everything is important that we do now.
Uh true, it's true.
And and I could look at I have to reserve the possibility here, I could be wrong.
He could be dead serious about about going third party.
I just I uh I don't think so.
But you know what'll happen.
I'll get an email this after when I get home.
Call Trump's office.
And uh so who knows.
I'm just doing the best I can answering your question with what limited knowledge I have about this, coupled with uh a little speculation.
Okay, well you would uh you have said before in times past that you would let us all know when it's time to panic.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What is what is your opinion today?
Well, It's not no, no, no, no, no.
Nowhere near time to panic yet.
I'll tell you what, I'll tell you when it's time to panic, and I haven't told you yet.
So it means it's not time to panic.
Fastest three hours of media.
I I don't know where this hour went, but it's gone.
Soon to be sent over to the Limbaugh Broadcast Museum, which, if you haven't seen the virtual Limbaugh Broadcast Museum, is amazing.
It's at rushlimbaugh.com.
In fact, it's a it's a the whole website is amazing.
I don't talk about it enough, but it is one of the greatest media websites out there, particularly if you become a member, have access to all of it.
Export Selection
