Here's a new poll in California.
Mervyn Field, the field poll is in a Sacramento B. I just saw it, the headline, Californians sour on Obama.
Even in heavily Democrat California, President Obama's job approval rating is plummeted among voters, largely on his handling of the economy.
Here are some of the results from the latest CNN ORC poll.
Are you better off than three years ago?
No.
58%.
Yes, 32%.
Are you angry about how things are going in the country?
Yes.
72%.
Are you scared about how things are going in the country?
Yes, 71%.
And meanwhile, there's a new Bloomberg poll that claims that 72% see the U.S. on the wrong course.
And only 9% believe the country will not slide back into a recession, as if we ever left one.
Now, guess how CNN and Bloomberg are positioning these polls?
We need more stimulus.
We need more spending.
This is why.
We need more spending.
Look at Obama's plummeting in the polls.
He's got to do something bold.
CNN and Bloomberg both say.
We need more stimulus spending.
When do you ever see?
For when do you ever see more than 70% of the people polled agree on anything?
And now it's routine when they're asked about how things are under Obama, about them being scared.
You know, Obama's in North Carolina town hall meeting for his jobs bill.
According to Fox News, he just told the crowd.
If you love me, you gotta help me pass this bill.
He just said to the crowd, if you love me, you've got to help me pass this bill.
In North Carolina, now his polling data in North Carolina is plummeting as well.
Anyway, greetings and welcome back, Rush Limbaugh, excellence in broadcasting network.
Great to have you here.
Cynthia Tucker is no longer with the Atlanta Urinal Constipation.
She's a syndicated columnist and they publish her column.
She left in August of this year, I think.
Very near that.
She recently.
She is a visiting professor at the University of Georgia's journalism scruble.
And writing a syndicated column.
She was on PMS NBC this morning with F. Chuck Todd on his show.
They're talking about New York 9.
F. Chuck said today, Democrat representative Javier Becerra said he actually didn't use the oh, it's all local excuse.
He said, hey, it's a message being sent.
Now he tried to say it wasn't a message against President Obama.
It's a message against Washington.
What do you say, Cynthia?
I say it's a message against Democrats.
This is, I'm sorry, unabashed bad news for the Democratic Party and for President Obama in particular.
Because he's identified not only with the economy, which played out large in the election to replace Anthony Wiener, but also he's identified with the policy on Israel, which so many Orthodox Jews were pushing back against.
For rightly or wrongly, he is seen as not being as strong a supporter of Israel.
They don't like the fact that he stood up and said they need to go back to the 1967 borders for peace negotiations.
So I don't think there's any doubt this is going to get ugly now.
Cynthia Tucker here fingering the Orthodox Jews for Barry's defeat in New York.
Yeah, that's uh we'll just keep a sharp eye on this.
But I there's no question that it's uh going to get ugly.
Now the New York Post, sorry, the Washington Post, New York special election, will Democrats panic is the headline.
There are better questions to ask than will the Democrats panic.
How about will the Democrats finally listen to the American people?
Will the Democrats abandon Obamacare?
Will the Democrats concede the Tea Party's an important organic middle class political movement?
Will the Democrats ask Obama to step down?
Will the Democrats admit collectivism fails every time it's tried?
No, no, no.
None of those questions.
No, no.
Will the Democrats panic?
And here's a revealing sentence from the Washington Post story.
That perception, which National Democrat leaders will do everything they can to beat back today, is a dangerous one for already skittish Democrats concerned about how the still staggering economy and the president's popularity or unpopularity will impact them next fall.
Well, there are two things we can agree on here, folks.
First, a democracy the economy hasn't turned the corner, and second, Obama is unpopular.
And these are two huge admissions by the state run media.
Imagine how these people, these people, this folks, you don't know the depth of despair that is being felt to the very core when there is one of Democrats all across the country today.
The propaganda no longer works.
The spin isn't flying.
Then there's this from the Washington Post story.
According to an attendee, Doyle warned that if Democrats lose the New York special election, all members of Congress could get sent home.
At least those with a D after their name.
And let's not forget Well, for the AP, this is this is Beth Fuey.
GOP upset with a New York port 10's challenge for Obama.
They are shaken to the core.
This is this AP story is unlike any I've seen recently.
They talk about the impact of this, how unlikely this was.
They admit that it's voter frustration over the sour economy and Obama's policies, making the improbable a reality.
That a political novice could win a Democrat district for 90 years.
Yeah, they're shaken to the core out there.
And then Republicans easily win Nevada House election.
Nevada Republican Mark Amoday easily won a special election on Tuesday to fill a vacant House of Representative seat in a largely rural district that has never sent a Democrat to Congress.
With ninety-five percent of precincts counted, Amaday had collected over fifty-seven percent of votes compared to 36% for the Democrat state treasurer Kate Marshall.
A Republican win in such a traditionally conservative area that narrowly favored John McCain 2008 had not been expected to send any strong signal for national politics or how Nevada will vote in 2012.
The district narrowly favored McCain and a 57, 36% blowout isn't considered surprising.
Doesn't send any strong signals.
In their dreams, in the politico, Jonathan Martin, Ben Smith, and Jake Sherman, they signed three people to it.
Twin defeats spark Democrat fears.
In this story, Stenny Hoyer lays the blame at Obama's feet.
In this story, Bloomberg poll shows that 51% don't think Obama's latest tax bill will work.
A Turner consultant, Bob Turner consultant Steve Goldberg, said our campaign was all Obama.
Not even a thought of anything else.
The original AP story last night in the first paragraph.
Republicans have scored an upset victory in a house race that became a referendum on Obama's economic policies.
There you have it.
They had no choice.
They didn't even try any propaganda.
I mentioned earlier, ladies and gentlemen, that uh another famed Animal has unfortunately died after having been saved.
The heartwarming story of a wayward emperor penguin that was rescued in New Zealand may not have a happy ending.
You know, there's a precedent to this.
I'll never forget the oil spill.
Prince Williams sound, Exxon Valdez.
What was that captain's name?
Joseph something or other.
Forget Hazleton?
Joseph Hazleton.
He's uh Hazel, yeah, Joseph Hazelwood, captain of the Exod Valdez.
They've been consuming uh adult beverages.
And did something caused a massive oil leak, and we all remember this.
There were numbers of seagoing animals that were terribly affected.
A number number of them were otters.
And people are especially drawn to otters.
Otters are playful little things.
They uh they in the water on the surface, lay on their backs, little paws looking up, and they wave at the children.
And the uh children have a connection, the otters.
So it was decided that uh they'd got a couple of these things.
They're gonna save them.
Uh they were oil soaked, and they had to clean them up.
I will never forget this.
I'm watching people with paper towels and dawn dishwater detergent wiping rocks to cut the grease.
A lot of people working very hard.
Anyway, they spent a lot of time and it turns out a lot of money to clean up an otter.
And the day came to release the otter back to the wild, back into the refreshed and cleaned Prince William Sound.
So they let the kids out of school and they had a big ceremony.
Bands are playing, and they put the otter in a little cage, and they rolled it out there on a cart like a wagon.
Big ceremony announcing all the great work that had been done, praising all the people whose time had been spent in saving the otter's life and cleaning it up and all the hard work had been done in general.
How this was important to the ecosystem, the ecostructure, that every life counts.
But it was time, even though there had uh great attachment to this otter developed over the period of time to save it, still had to do the right thing and release it to the wild.
So they had little kids out there at the uh at the shore, and they rolled a wagon down to the water line and they opened a cage, and the otter did what it did.
It jumped out of there and started swimming and went on its back and waving at people, and kids went nuts.
It was cute.
And people kept watching and watching, and out of nowhere, within about two minutes, an orca.
A killer whale just ate it.
I just surfaced and swallowed the otter.
That was it.
Then bye-bye otter, and the insurance company was all mad now.
They had spent I think what the $80,000 is what had been spent to clean up the otter and so forth.
They looked at it as a financial thing.
The band stopped playing, the kids started tugging on mom's coats.
What happened?
What happened?
Mothers desperately started seeking an explanation for what had happened.
It was this ended up being a day of total sadness.
So here we go again.
The heartwarming story of a wayward emperor penguin rescued in New Zealand may not have a happy ending.
Scientists who released the penguin, they named it Happy Feet, back into the ocean.
Say the signal from a tracking device has stopped, and they fear a happy feet has been eaten.
They're still ho still holding out hope that the device just fell off the penguin who has been dubbed Happy Feet.
They might want to change the name now to Happy Eat, depending.
There are some species that will forage on Emperor Penguins.
Said the man who fitted the tracking device, Kevin Lay told the UK Guardian, it's not likely that it has happened to Happy Feet because of the area that we live in.
As a three and a half-year-old penguin found washed up on a beach near Wellington in June, hundreds of miles from its normal swimming grounds.
They took the penguin to local zoo, needed to undergo surgery to remove several pounds of sand that he had eaten, making it uh mistaking it for snow.
Poor thing.
It reminds you the California Condor.
You know, they tried to save the condo, but the thing kept eating or drinking uh uh antifreeze.
They couldn't stop it from consuming antifreeze.
Now I don't know how they know that Happy Feet fought sand was snow unless he told them.
They're reporting here that Happy Feet ate sand thinking it was snow, but there's really no way of knowing this unless Happy Feet told them.
Which, given scientists today, it could very well have happened.
I mean, how do they know Happy Feet just wasn't stupid?
It happens too.
So after the penguin recovered, scientists brought it back to the waters.
It was accustomed to, and they set it free, and now they say that it's time to harden up to the reality that the penguin has returned to the anonymity from which he emerged, and its fate likely will never be known.
At least there were no children present here at this ceremony.
There is a picture of the penguin.
I didn't print the picture, I can't show you.
It's an Emperor Penguin.
It was the caption.
Happy feet is shown in his room at such and such hospital.
Was the caption.
I'm sure that given the realities, Happy Feet or Happy Eat would love to be back in his room.
But do uh what?
No, I found him to be a total gentleman.
He was as honest.
Bob Turner, uh Snerdley wants to know what kind of guy Bob Turner was.
Bob Turner was as honest as anybody I have ever met in the broadcast business.
I no, I did not play golf.
I was not playing golf, period when I met Bob Turner.
I I didn't start playing golf until I finished my TV show.
And uh uh eventually moved to Florida.
I finished TV show in 96 and moved to Florida in 1997 TV show from 1992 to 1996.
And um it was Turner was he was uh competent.
He didn't he didn't try to uh enforce the multimedia way on me.
He was he knew what he had.
I I I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with him being what he was in.
He was just as honest as and then straightforward.
There was no guile about the guy.
There was no he didn't play any psycho games uh with me.
You know everybody, every boss plays psycho games with uh with people.
He didn't.
He was um straightforward, a straight shooter as I did not know at the time really what his politics were.
I I made a um pretty safe assumption after I got to know him.
But no, he's uh 70 years old now, and he looks the same today as he did when we started that TV show in 1992.
He does not look like he's aged at all.
His health is obviously good.
His wife is a special needs nurse, and she is a huge fan of talk radio.
They're they're they're fine people.
Let's let's grab some phone calls.
People patiently waiting.
And folks, I barely scratched surface.
I still got to get the Cylindra, these four other solar firms that have been started up.
Uh despite Cylindra, blaming now Bush for Cylindra, they're doing uh that happened.
Let's go to Westchester, New York.
Rocco, you're up first.
Great to have you on the program, sir.
Hi, Rush.
Hi.
I'm here in uh New York State, and uh the Bob Turner Republican victory definitely shows a change in the sentiment of the American voter and reflects Obama's low approval rating.
But I'm wondering if Republicans are gonna retain that seat because New York has to shed two representatives due to redistrict redistricting.
And uh remember when the Wiener resigned, it would you you know they were saying it was going to be inconsequential because that seat would probably be eliminated.
So I'm I'm asking you because I don't know.
Could they just as easily get rid of this guy?
Well, yeah, the the the 2010 census will cause redistricting, and the Democrats will be in charge of that in uh in New York.
So uh I've I can't tell you an inconclusive I I would you know the the the House ultimately will decide what districts get redistricted.
The Democrats running New York will put in their requests and try to muscle their way and so forth.
But even before the before the uh actual election, like you, I had read that uh uh and the New York State House in the hands of Republicans too.
So the Democrats, if if they do target this district to get rid of, that they're gonna have trouble.
But I don't know.
I've read that like you that this district was going to be eliminated anyway, regardless who won this.
So either either way, um it's like you said, it's a referendum on on how the people are feeling, you know, when when when it goes this way.
I mean, it's that's you know, this is a bigger win.
It's it's let me tell you I'll tell you this district.
Look at Anthony Wiener.
This this was Obama on steroids.
They elected Anthony Wiener.
Now, what this tells me here is that the the the well let me think about this, because I'm not entirely sure I'm right about this.
I have to tell you Obama lost MSNBC today, folks.
His uh town hall meeting or campaign stop, whatever you want to call it, to push the jobs bill, which uh somebody somebody on the web, I don't have it in front of me, has dubbed the SOB bill, the Save Obama Bill.
I think the website's PJ Tackler or something.
At any rate.
Fox didn't cover it.
I mean and maybe five seconds of it just to show that he was there speaking.
MSNBC stuck with it for a while, but even they had to bump out of it.
Even the MSNBC couldn't hang in.
Here's a portion of why.
Pass this bill, and right here in North Carolina, about 19,000 construction workers will have a job again.
President Obama in Raleigh, North Carolina, North Carolina State University talking about the American Jobs Act.
Boy, doesn't really sound enthused there, does he?
That's the uh the anchor Craig Melvin bumping out of it.
I'm sure they're saying M SNB so we gotta defend this.
This thing gets passed, and 19,000 construction jobs happen tomorrow in North Carolina, and we gotta put people on the air here supporting this.
While Bank of America, which headquartered in North Carolina, where a lot of people are laying off 30,000 people.
And that's uh Hollywood's bank.
All right, back to the phones.
Carrie, North Carolina says, Kelly, great to have you on the Rush Limbaugh program.
Hi.
Hey, Rush.
Megadill Megadetto's to you.
Thank you very much.
Rush, I have been uncivil, and I feel like I need to turn myself in so that you could forward what I did to the attack watch.
Oh.
Be happy to.
In fact, I'll tell you what's happening with Attack Watch.
Uh, it's being overrun with conservatives turning themselves in.
Well, maybe I should go there myself and turn myself in.
I think you should report yourself.
Uh Michelle Morkin sent in her whole column today.
Um and and uh uh Herman Cain uh responded to it, seriously.
So I think you you should you should turn yourself in, but what do you want to turn yourself in for?
What did you do?
Well, I just flipped off the presidential motorcade.
You what?
You flipped off The presidential motorcade.
Yes, I did.
I did.
And I'm a retired teacher, high school teacher.
I am a grandmother of twelve.
And I just behaved uncivily.
Why?
Why would you do this?
Why would you, a grandmother of twelve, a retired school teacher, flip off the presidential motorcade?
I've had enough.
I've had enough.
There is a simmering, smoldering anger.
I understand that, but why were you anywhere near the presidential motorcade?
What were you doing even going near it?
Um I didn't know that he was going to be on I-40 today.
I knew he was going to be in Kerry and didn't think any more about it.
I just dismiss him for my faults as much as I can.
So you got delayed, you were in traffic, you got delayed for the motorcade to go by.
Yes.
And my first thought when I saw the helicopters and the police on the bridge, I thought that there might be some terrorist activity because we have rounds of ammunition missing from uh a nearby base.
Anyway, um, I don't I saw the flags on the uh presidential car, and before I knew what happened, I jumped out and flipped him off the in front of all everybody else that was stranded.
Before you even knew what you were doing.
Your instinct just propelled you out of your car, and you flipped off a retired school teacher, grandmother at 12, flipped off what you thought was the presidential uh limousine.
Oh, it was.
Well, it could have been it could have been a decoy.
But uh Rosh, I'm going to own it as a good conservative.
I own my actions.
I'm not blaming Bush.
I thought about blaming your tea because I really was drinking your iced tea right before I did it.
Well, now wait, there's no reported evidence of our T causing uh irregular human behavior uh to happen.
Uh but I why tell you something.
Includ that when you report yourself.
Well, I tell tell tell it's it's ask watch, askwatch.com.
Okay.
Ask watch.com and report and and tell them that uh it might not have been your fault.
It might have been the fault of two if by T. Rush Rush Run Bush.
Yeah, that's what I I okay.
If I have your permission, that's what I'll do then.
I was going to own it myself.
Well, I'll share it with you.
All right.
Sounds good.
Yeah.
Yeah, we'll get we'll join we'll do it together.
Okay, sounds great.
All right, Kelly.
Thanks.
Uh thanks very much.
She was caught off guard.
She could claim temporary insanity of the Secret Service or because it's what it sounds like that it was.
By the way, folks, on this redistricting business in New York, uh don't don't start attaching any conspiracies here.
This was going to happen.
New York's gonna lose two seats simply because of demographics and and population shift.
There were talks that this this district was going to be eliminated.
The voters are not going to be eliminated.
They're just going to redraw the lines.
And the Republicans are in charge of this.
The uh New York state uh redistricting is up to the governor and the legislature.
And in previous discussions of this, it was said that the most likely outcome is that there would be a deal where each party would lose one district.
Now I can't imagine the Republicans willingly giving this one up, given the symbolic nature of it, but who knows?
At some point, uh New York is going to lose two congressional seats.
And this uh may be one of them.
Uh I had to play a couple sound bites uh last night.
Uh Mitt Romney appeared with Ted Baxter on the O'Reilly factor.
And um.
He was asked here about individual mandate as part of Romney care and the problem that he has with Romney care being so close to Obamacare and still sticking with Romney care.
The question was, how are you going to convince conservatives who are suspicious of you?
Not all of them, but some of them.
Because you did the individual mandate in Massachusetts about health care.
Conservatives, that drives them nuts.
They say that the government, state and federal, Have no right to force anybody to buy anything.
How are you going to convince those people that they should support you?
The government, of course, has a lot of mandates.
And I know folks don't like that, but mandates kids go to school, uh, mandates uh they have to have auto insurance uh if you have an automobile, and and my conservative friends say, well, we don't have to have automobiles, and it's like, well, what state do you live in?
Of course you have to have automobiles in this in this nation.
Uh uh, and the plan that we put in place was one that was put together by Republicans and Democrats.
It works for Massachusetts.
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
Did you did you guys hear that the way I heard that?
You have to have auto insurance if you have an automobile.
And my conservative friends say, well, you don't have to have automobiles.
And it's like, what state do you live in?
Of course you have to have automobiles in this nation.
Now, folks.
Um, play it again, and you listen to it yourself.
And see what you think.
The government, of course, has a lot of mandates, and I know folks don't like that, but mandates kids go to school, uh, mandates uh they have to have auto insurance uh if you have an automobile, and and my conservative friends say, well, we don't have to have automobiles, and it's like, well, what state do you live in?
Of course you have to have automobiles in this in this nation.
Uh that's it.
That's it.
The question is not can we get along without cars in America.
The way he phrases this, of course you have to have automobiles in this nation.
Like of course you have to have water.
Of course.
Uh no, everybody doesn't have to have an automobile.
And then everybody doesn't have to have automobile insurance.
And Romney says, of course you have to have automobiles in this nation.
Now I want to be real charitable here.
But that I don't know, folks.
It's hard to look the other way at that one.
One thing, yeah, I I was going to say something before the break at the bottom of the hour.
Um Democrats in this country, I'm looking at New York 9.
I just remembered I wanted to complete this thought.
Looking at New York 9 and Democrats in that district, I mean, this is the district that elected Wiener seven times.
Wiener was Obama on steroids.
This Wiener was he is today's Democrat Party.
I mean, he is uh angry, enraged all the time.
He is far, far to the left.
He is he's not the Democrats of the 60s or 70s.
And what I'm thinking about here is what does this mean for the Democrats in this district?
I was thinking of saying that this election, New York 9 could well mean that even the most hardcore New York Democrats are not nearly as far gone as Obama is.
But I I caught myself because of course the Upper West Side, they are.
And in a village, they are.
Parts of the village, sturdy, no question.
In fact, in a lot of parts of Manhattan, New York City, they are.
But this district, look at what was on the look at the there were two things.
Obama and everything associated with him, and Israel.
And these people wanted no more of what Obama is offering.
They they they want no more job stimulus.
They don't want any more of his agenda.
And it wasn't it's not a landslide, but it wasn't close.
By oh, you know, Turner Turner ran in this race previously and got wiped out The last time he ran.
So I don't want to go too far in analyzing this and trying to extrapolate what this means about Democrats nationwide voters.
Democrats nationwide, but I I do feel comfortable in saying that this country, a vast majority of this country, does not want any part of Obama and what he's doing and where he's taking the country.
They don't want any more of it.
They don't want...
None of it.
It's...
Had his chance...
People are fed up.
We are in the vast majority here of people who oppose this.
Which is a comforting thing, as people always wonder, gosh, have we lost the country, meaning the people of the country.
And the Democrats are thinking the same thing I'm thinking here too.
And they're asking themselves this, analyzing it in their own professional way.
You know, what does this really mean all across the country because of this particular sample of Democrats?
Now, the 9th district, let's put this in perspective, New York 9 is supposed to be the most conservative district in New York City outside of Staten Island.
And look how liberal it is.
This is my point.
It is considered the most conservative.
So at the bare minimum, at the bare minimum, what this shows is that even on the left, even on the far left of the Democrat side of things, there are deep pockets of resistance to this regime.
Now, what does that mean?
It means for the Republicans, stop being mealy-mouthed.
It means take advantage of this and stop acting in fear and stop acting defensive and stop, you know, get rid of the playbook from 2008, which said you couldn't criticize and you wanted to work with and all the historical aspect.
That's done.
The country is being eternally harmed.
People don't want any more of it, and they want it reversed.
And they're looking at you doing it.
I think also Republicans ought not assume that just because they've got an R beside their names that they're safe.
They have to say the right things and then do them.
That's another lesson to take out of this New York.
Bob Turner just was an un uh just appeared on Fox with Meghan Kelly, and she said to him, Bob Turner, are you shocked?
I expected to win.
I've lived in this district my whole life.
I kind of have my ear to the ground.
I sense the mood of the people, and I'm not surprised.
The Democrats are coming out right now in part, and they're blaming this on a lot of things, but we're hearing a lot of it's all Anthony Wiener's fault.
Anthony Wiener was history.
I don't believe he was even a small factor in this campaign.
This is the new spin.
Who was the factor?
President Obama, loud and clear.
President Obama loud and clear.
You know, and somewhere in the Republican establishment, they're cringing.
You know, every time Turner opens his mouth.
No, no, go, don't say no.
Don't say it's gonna hurt us with the independence.
Oh no, don't you know they're doing that.
Some of our intelligence in the media, gosh, I wish Turner would shut up.
Oh my god, you don't go out there and do this.
You don't criticize Obama, leave that to us.
Mark my words.
Lester in Miramar, Florida.
Welcome to the EIB network, sir.
Hello.
Ross, thank you so much.
I've been listening to you, sir, since 1996.
Appreciate that very much, Lester.
Every time I turn you on the phone, I have your application in my iPhone.
You are like my teacher.
All the way down.
Third.
My grandfather used to tell me every time the wealthy is punished via high taxes or high regulations, only the poor Suffers and he's been right all along.
In 1959, when hope and change came to my country, 1961, they knocked on his business and confiscated everything he worked all his life.
I saw my grandfather suffering until he died because he never could get back what it was taken from him.
During the eight years of President Bush, I was employed all throughout.
Since this wrecking ball came along, I've been out of work for two and a half years, and I haven't collected one penny in unemployment.
And I can show that to anybody.
Neither me or my wife.
Why haven't you?
Because I was self-employed, but I was an employee of my company.
I pay five taxes.
So when we had to close our business, we still have some money left.
And because the principles that we live by, we refuse to use the system.
By the time that we run out of money, the state told us that we have run out of the available time.
So you've got hope and change deja vu going on.
Under President Bush, I bought a house.
Under this man, my home is worth less.
Lester, I'm sorry, I gotta go, but I feel for you, and many people do.
Lester's story is happening all over this country.
Lester from uh from Florida, all over this country.
