All right, we have, let's see, more of Obama from the uh Iftar dinner last night at the White House.
We must ask ourselves how do we honor these patriots?
Those who died and those who served.
Stop the tape amount.
You know what?
We got to play these two together.
We gotta play these two back to back.
Because I'm learning things here.
It's the yftar dinner, it's uh Ramadan.
Uh dinner.
So here's the first.
Um Obama honoring Muslim heroes of 911.
To you and your families, uh, Ramadan Karim.
Like so many faiths, Islam has always been part of our American family.
In one month, we will mark the tenth anniversary of those awful attacks that brought so much pain to our hearts.
Muslim Americans were innocent passengers on those planes.
They were workers in the Twin Towers.
Americans by birth and Americans by choice.
There were cooks and waiters, but also analysts and executives.
There in the towers where they worked, they came together for daily prayers and meals at iftar.
Muslim Americans were first responders.
On this 10th anniversary, we honor these men and women for what they are.
American heroes.
We must ask ourselves.
How do we honor these patriots?
Those who died and those who served.
In this season of remembrance, the answer is the same as it was ten September's ago.
We must be the America they lived for and the America they died for.
The America they sacrificed for.
An America that doesn't simply tolerate people of different backgrounds and beliefs, but uh an America where we are enriched by our diversity.
America, where we treat one another with respect and with dignity.
Remembering that here in the United States there is no them or us.
It's just us.
Tell that to the Tea Party.
And how do we honor them?
We're going to build or well, I they want a mosque at ground zero.
I don't know where it is.
Don't know where it stands, don't know where the project stands.
Uh as of now, Mitt Romney was in Iowa.
Somewhat newsy that Romney even went to Iowa, but he's there.
He went to the Iowa State Fair and spoke.
And during the QA, he had some hecklers.
You get to ask your question, I get to get my answer.
If you don't like my answer, you can vote for someone else.
Barack Obama is killing this economy.
Barack Obama's by 25 million people don't have jobs and can't find jobs.
And the wall three.
By the way, okay, next question.
We got a question.
I'm going over here.
Yes, sir.
Henry Titan.
You've had your turn, I've had my turn.
You've had your turn, I'll have my turn.
So the protesters out there, their uh chant was Wall Street free, Wall Street free.
By the way, so a Wall Street Greed.
Is that if they were saying Wall Street Greed, Wall Street Greed, by the way, Social Security.
Now, I don't know what got into Romney.
Did you hear him say?
Barack Obama's white 25 million people don't have has he has he ever said that before?
No.
He called him a fine fella.
Yeah.
Earlier today called him a fine fellow.
He went out there.
Earlier, Romney did and said, hey, uh talking about uh debt rating, you know, it's not all Obama.
We gotta admit, Darren, there was some problems there on our side, too.
You know, making a beeline for the moderates and the uh and the independents.
Well, way to go, Mitt.
Barack Obama's why 25 million people don't have jobs and can't find jobs.
You have to forgive me.
I'm I'm just not used to any Republican talking that way.
Not an elected Republican, nor a Republican seeking elective office.
All right, look, since we have determined, I go back and forth on this, folks.
You know, whether to pay any attention to MSNBC and thereby drive audience to them and give them any publicity.
Poor cookie, I I've told her she has a standing order.
I've told her I don't want any more Matthews bites.
I told her this about a month ago.
I don't want any more.
I don't care.
I did this it does nothing but.
I mean, they've got 800,000 viewers on a good night.
Why should I help them out?
And they're sitting there in a relative vacuum.
But it's become obvious, folks, the reason that MSNBC exists is to report what I say on the radio every day.
Gosh, I wish.
I wish my mom and dad still alive.
Their son.
A whole television network exists to report what their son says on the radio every day.
Well, as you know, we uh yesterday uh played Cookie.
Do you have we do hang on, we got grab it.
Uh number 28.
Let's do this first.
This is what got this whole thing to, because Al Sharpton responded.
Al Sharpton responded to our compassionate review of what happened to him.
And I chalked it up to either sabotage or incompetence uh in the control room.
Uh people putting things on the teleprompter that made more sense.
I was giving Reverend Sharpton, even though he has shown me no respect whatsoever, uh, and has taken steps to literally harm me.
I was trying to cover for the Reverend Sharpton and saying that maybe somebody not happy with uh his appointment to the gig there, sabotaging him, making him look incompetent by virtue of what they put on the prompter.
We also realized that he sounded a little flat.
So we wanted to add some dynamism ourselves to uh Reverend Sharpton's at least sound bite that we were going to play.
We don't have the ability to do this for the whole program because we're not there, but at least in the sound bites we play, we can add some dynamism.
So this is what the Reverend Sharpton said, and we added what he's really known for, and that is speaking through a megaphone, a bullhorn or whatever, on the protest march.
Tonight is the measure of whether the country begins in the state of Wisconsin, a national drive to push back on whether we have more to go to build a movement of resistance.
But resist we much.
We must and we will much about that be committed.
And we have adopted that as our new motto here at the EIB network, resist we much.
Well, despite our act of kindness and compassion, uh the Reverend Sharpton reported on the segment that we did here yesterday.
This is how that sounds.
Rush, there's no racist teleprompt operator.
There's no black journalist trying to sabotage me.
I messed up a line, just like anybody, including you, that is ever hosted or was a guest host on a show.
I messed up, it was me, Rush.
I'm the culprit.
But let me tell you something else, Rush.
I did it again tonight.
I gave you a gift.
There's no environmental projection agency, it's protection agency.
So play that tomorrow because I want all of your listeners to start watching me.
I want you to keep bringing them over.
I don't want to preach to the choir.
I want your choir, Rush.
Everybody wants what I've got.
Everybody wants to be me.
No, I'm not going to say that.
I am not going to say that you handle it on your own.
I am not.
I'm not, I'm not gonna not going to tell the Reverend Sharpton that he's mispronouncing words.
If you want to do that, that's not why we're doing this.
Now, here, after that, he admits that we we we offer him an opportunity here.
We offer him an opportunity to bring to his meager little network that it really exists to report what I say to bring our audience.
He craves my choir.
But don't folks, don't worry.
I know that it would take moments of utter insanity for you to spend any time over there on that network.
So I'm not worried about you defecting.
It still makes total sense that the Reverend Sharpton would want this audience.
Everybody else does.
Everybody wants to be me.
So after our attempts to help, an ad dynamics, and even our attempt to help explain why he blew the line.
The Reverend Sharpton still couldn't avoid being who he is.
He had to go get snarky.
I look at a stab wound.
The heel on my chest where I've been stabbed and forgave the guy.
Who was white, by the way, that tried to kill me for leading a march in his neighborhood.
I pay the dues to get my name recognition.
I may not be as polished as some.
Sometimes we may get the words gobble, but they'll get the point, just like they did when I went after you, Rush.
And the NFL.
And Rush, keep on talking about the show.
Keep going for the bait.
Because a fish wouldn't get caught if they kept their mouth shut.
Rush, keep talking about us.
Keep talking about the show.
I don't know how we can avoid it.
The network does nothing but talk about me.
Yes, he did.
This is an example of the total lack of uh any class or dignity that is, I guess, required to get a gig over there on uh on that network.
But that's it for so Chris Matthews and disording what I said to the Reverend Sharpton now claiming that all of this was nothing more than a setup so that we would end up talking about him.
I know debt's all right.
We just deal with it as it comes.
And we'll take a break here.
We'll be back.
We'll continue to get to your phone calls right after this.
The EIB network rolls on.
Don't go anywhere.
You know, I think maybe I ought to start calling myself Rush Limbar.
Um, as uh Sharpton does, as a matter of it is not not to embarrass him.
It's just like I I'm I say Governor Kumo because the uh uh Reverend Jackson uh pronounces it Kumo sometimes.
I don't want to call intention to people's um problems.
So he just uh do it the way they do it is a sign of respect.
Anyway, Merrick New York, back to the phones, Tom.
Great to have you on the program, sir.
Hello.
Thank you, Rush.
Um listen, I just want to make a quick point about um Chris Matthews and and just how crazy he is.
An example is the fact that these these commercials that he's been running uh that run incessantly on his network, he's actually running a commercial rush that is that is antithetical to everything they've been talking about for the last two years regarding this Perth issue.
I don't know if you've seen it, but he actually runs a commercial um uh uh touting American exceptionalism, saying that uh an example of American exceptionalism is the fact that Barack Obama came from another country and was elected president of the United States.
Well, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
They're running that as a promo on MSNBC.
Yes, they are.
And it's Matthews that says that.
It's Matthews that says it.
Where is he?
Is he in a isn't a is he an abandoned railroad car graveyard when he says that like Sergeant Schultz is where is he?
No, he's not.
He's he's actually, I believe, sitting uh, I don't know, it looks like uh in something that's overlooking the White House, and he's actually motions to the White House at the end of the commercial and says you can't and he says, you can't do that in China or France.
You can't go to these countries and become Chinese or French.
Um then he says American exceptionalism, and he and he points to the White House.
Well, it's it's it's insane.
It's insane.
So he actually says that that's a definition of American exceptionalism that you can come from another company, country and be president.
Yes.
And he holds Obama out as the example.
Well, well, respect we much.
It's it's unbelievable.
But I just like to add uh another quick point about Tabis Smiley.
I was I was holding a long time and heard you talk about that.
The problem with these guys is they think wealth is a zero sum game.
What difference does it matter if the wealthy in this country double or triple their wealth by creating wealth if everybody else still has what they have?
Or even or even if their wealth improves.
No, it's an excellent question, but they believe that the only way that happens is if the rich steal.
Well, they're nuts because uh as we know, the government is not the source of wealth.
The people who create the wealth.
Oh, yes, it is for 48% of the uh population.
You know, you could have you could have somebody in this country uh who's twenty-five, has ten kids, which is possible, and dies, and the government will send his heirs in social security disability, whatever, 155,000 a year total.
You can the government I mean it's it's it's nuts.
Abraham Lincoln said you cannot empower the poor by impoverishing the wealthy.
Cannot be done.
Abraham Lincoln.
Well, who was he?
What did he know?
I'll tell you, I'll match him up against Karl Marx any time.
I'd like to see that debate.
I I but you look you're you're z zero sum game is exactly the way to put it in terms of the way they look at it, they just think that everybody's entitled.
Economic justice equals everybody getting stuff.
Whether they work or not, that's the key to this.
Whether you work or not, you get your stuff.
You get what you're entitled to.
And then if it doesn't happen, well, it's not the government's fault because the way you've been raised and and and taught, the government is the agent guaranteeing that you get your stuff.
So it's enemies of the government.
And who are they?
Well, Republicans, corporations, uh all these other people that are taking their unfair share of stuff.
And that's what these people really think.
Now, Cornell West is ostensibly a highly educated uh Ivy League professor.
And he misunderstands something that is fundamental.
Maybe he doesn't misunderstand it, and everything he's doing is just a joke based on uh partisanship, what have you, but it's it's nonsense.
You're exactly right.
If in fact, if 90%, if the people that hold 90% of the wealth in this country get wealthier, the whole country is getting wealthier as well.
people need...
Oh, stop.
What?
*laughs*
No, no.
I'll leave it to what Tom said.
Tom had it right.
Remember, I'm tired today.
Um this is uh Mike in Withier, California.
Mike, I'm glad you waited.
Really great to have you on the program, sir.
Hello.
Hi.
I just wanted to call and let you know that you're right about Chris Matthews needs help, but the help Chris Matthews needs is a priest because he is possessed.
He's possessed by the spirit of the late Senator Kennedy.
If you look at when he went off the reservation, so to speak, and got the way he is, it was right around when Kennedy died.
And if you look at old clips of Ted Kennedy, and then you look at Chris Matthews today, tell me they don't sound the same.
They sound exactly the same.
That's interesting observation.
I think we need to call in an exorcist for Chris Matthews.
Well, I I I haven't been able to find any mental issues as far as, you know, at first I thought maybe Tourette's or something, but the symptoms just don't fit.
But possession by the spirit of Kennedy, yeah, that fits.
You know, it is something.
Because I remember you go back to the mid 90s, Matthews at one time was a guest host on this program.
Oh, yes.
And I used to watch his show during the one time, this audience really liked Chris Matthews.
They enjoy they enjoyed the content of his uh program over at uh MSNBC.
Well, I'll tell you, if we ever hear about Matthews doing the waitress sandwich routine like Kennedy did with Chris Dodd.
If we ever hear about that happening, say with Cornell West or Smiley, then you may be on to somebody.
Having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have Rush Limbaugh.
With half my brain tied behind my back just to make it fair.
Well, what a day.
Tavis Smiley and Cornell West are on their poverty tour, stopping in places like Nightline, C-SPAN, and MSNBC.
Where there is definitely poverty, but not the kind that they are describing.
And what are they running around as saying they're running around?
90% of the wealth in this country controlled by 1% of the population.
We know the wealthiest employees in this country work for the federal government now.
We know that employees of the federal government earn on average, when you throw benefits and pensions and all that stuff in there, they earn twice as much as people in the private sector.
The wealthiest one percent in this country employ more people than the poorest in this country.
So what's the problem?
The wealthiest one percent in this country employ more people than the poorest in this country.
And people that work for the government are making out like bandits.
But the issue is what do these guys, people like Tavis Smiley, Cornell West, Brother Tavis, I was Brother Tavis and Brother Cornell.
What do these guys recommend that we do?
How would they change the country?
You see, the fact is their target is not the 1%.
Their target is everybody.
And Obama, I don't know what they're so upset about.
Obama is employing their radical views.
Obama is going after every target they've got.
Obama's got a bullseye on practically every target these guys want to be hit.
And yet they're out there attacking him.
I don't know.
Why?
Maybe it's because Obama's proving that their radical views are bankrupt.
Maybe, and this, I think this is one of the reasons why there's so much delusionment, derangement, and literal insanity throughout the leftist media.
Obama is proving that all that they believe in is bankrupt economically, morally.
Obama's proving it doesn't work.
It doesn't get people their stuff.
It doesn't get them their economic justice.
It doesn't get them their social justice.
And if you noticed we don't talk about just who are these top one percent.
Who are the top ten percent?
They're not always the same people.
Do you know what the wealthiest company in America is today?
Sturd Lee.
Do you know what the wealthiest company in America is today?
That's right.
Apple, Apple Incorporated, wealthier than Exxon.
Except yesterday, Exxon was wealthier than Apple.
They're going back and forth.
It depends on the stock price.
Screw the camera.
There, the camera's on.
Okay.
Interrupt me for the camera.
But I haven't lost my place.
Evil, ExxonMobil, is no longer the richest company in the country.
Today it's Apple.
The economy's constantly evolving and progressing.
New wealth created.
People who are who are rich lose everything.
A lot of people lost a whole bunch in at least the last two weeks alone in the stock market.
The problem today is the very system that has produced the greatest wealth in the country is under attack.
The entire system, the whole country, everybody is under attack in the name of attacking the top one percent.
That's right, Brother Tavis.
And that's right, Brother Cornell.
You're not just aiming at the top one percent.
And Brother Barack, he's not just aiming at the top one percent.
Brother Barack is aiming at everybody.
The entire country, our entire system is under attack.
When we talk about creating wealth, we're talking about one thing capitalism.
Socialism does not create wealth.
Socialism redistributes it, but if there's nothing creating wealth, then of course there's nothing to redistribute.
Socialism destroys wealth.
Government destroys wealth.
Plain and simple.
Great, great campaign, 1980, made famous the are you better off than you were four years ago.
The Republican nominee in 2012 needs to run around and say, are you better off than you were five minutes ago?
Because it's getting worse by the minute.
Are you better off than you were five minutes ago?
Are you better off than you were ten minutes ago?
Because for most people, the answer is no.
I was better off ten minutes ago than I am now.
Because until something changes, the path that we're on is taking aim at everybody.
Not just the one percent.
The top one percent are the named targets, but everybody.
Everybody is being targeted here, if you uh if you will.
Who's next here?
Leo, Minneapolis.
Leo, great that you held on.
Uh and welcome to the program, sir.
Hi.
Megadiddo's rush.
I've been a longtime listener and a first-time caller now.
I just wanted to talk about these riots that are going on in London right now.
And um, I want to talk about why I think the at the drive-by media is not really covering it as much as they would otherwise.
I think that's because they think the riots are gonna come to America at some point, and when that happens, they're gonna want to make out to the rest of the country who's not as informed as you and I am that this is an American problem because we're the evil rich people, and we're gonna have capitalism, and we are the people who have been um discriminating against people for so long.
And they're gonna say that we need to be more like Europe, and they're gonna be betting on the fact that people will forget what's happening in London right now.
Uh the problem is the problem is there has been a lot of coverage of UK riots.
Not it not amongst the mainstream media.
I mean, you've got you've covered it, Drudge has covered it, and the UK stuff's covered.
Well, okay, well, let me ask you this.
If those uh by the way, I would submit to you that the uh first vestiges of those mob riots are already happening in this country.
I agree, but it's gonna be large.
I mean, scale.
But I I'm under the belief that that will be part of the recipe of chaos that's desired.
But you think the media, and I'm asking, I'm just there's no wrong answer.
I'm just asking your opinion.
Don't misunderstand the tone of my voice.
Do you think that the media is going to be happy with riots out there?
You think they're going to be able to somehow blame Republicans for those riots?
Uh debt deal, that kind of thing.
They'll try.
And they're gonna say, this is what they're gonna say.
They're gonna say, and the Democrats are gonna say this too, that we need to be more like Europe.
Uh because they're gonna bank on the fact that people are gonna forget that it started in Europe because most people are not as well informed.
Well, we want to be more like Europe.
I mean, well, you we already we're heading that direction anyway.
I know, but that the media wants to, and the Democrats wants to go even more in that direction.
It's only because of people like you and the Tea Party that we haven't gone so far off the cliff in that direction yet.
Well, I appreciate that.
You're very kind to say that, and I I appreciate you.
Thank you very much.
Leo, have a uh have a good one out there.
No, no, I I really I I I mean it.
I think that one of the reasons there's such a liberal crackup is that Obama is illustrating how bankrupt every one of their ideas is.
I mean, their radical views are they're being implemented all over the place.
I don't know if these liberals that say Obama's not liberal enough.
Believe me, that's a smokescreen.
There has been more damage done to this country in two and a half years by agents of this country's government than ever before in history.
But see, this stuff wasn't supposed to lead to this kind of damage.
This was supposed to lead to panacea, supposed to lead to nirvana utopia.
Economic, social justice, everybody's supposed to get their stuff.
It hasn't worked, and that's why Tabas Smiley, Brother Tavis, and Brother Cornell are on their tour.
Because they are being shown, and everybody else is being shown that their radical views are bankrupt.
That there's they don't work.
They don't bring about what is promised.
Yes, that's simple.
Your guiding light, Rush Limbaugh.
Talent on lawn from God.
Nancy Pelosi has finally named the final members of a super committee.
James Kleiburn.
Representative Xavier Bacera of California.
Vice Chairman of Democrat caucus and Representative Chris Van Holland of Maryland.
Kleiburn is one of the most partisan Democrats in Concord.
And that's folks saying something.
Pelosi described him as a consensus builder.
Um I look at who like Boehner appointed loyalists, but at least there's a couple conservatives on there plus Fred Upton.
McConnell, his senators are pretty conservative.
Then you go to the Democrat side, Dingy Harry with his uh senators and Pelosi.
Folks, I'm going to tell you, there is no way there's going to be any compromise in that super committee.
Not with these members.
Well, I don't think you would with any members anyway, which has me with mixed emotions as to where this may end up.
My I have a theory about it.
I have a I have a theory this supercommittee is gonna end up not mattering a hill of beans, that that's gonna get kicked down there.
I think everything is gonna get kicked down the road.
Uh audio soundbite Tuesday night on a Charlie Rose show.
He spent the hour with George Will.
But there's a segment that they talked about dinner.
And all these conservative columns at George Will's house with Obama.
Rose, let me take you back to 2009.
New president comes to town, gets a dinner invitation, goes to the home of George Will.
You have collected conservatives there to meet the new president.
Is he any different?
He was awfully serene at our my house about his confidence and his ability to regulate the economy.
Progressivism is nothing if not confident about its ability to.
So he was more serene and less confident.
He was he was no, he was he was serene and confident.
Oh, serene and confident.
Okay.
But nothing like what I've seen since.
This terrific controversy.
So what do you think happened?
I think that this is, as I say, nothing happened.
This is the emergence in full flower of American progressivism after a hundred years of maturation.
This is what looks like.
Charlie Rose is still, this is this was Tuesday, this is Thursday.
Charlie Rose is still scratching his head trying to figure out what George Will just said to me.
What did he just say to me?
He's looking for all kinds of praise.
So he hears the word confidence.
All right, George Will loving my guy, Brother Barack.
No, no, no.
This is uh full flower, Charlie, of America American progressivism after a hundred years of maturation.
This is what it looks like.
In other words, utter chaos and failure.
And Charlie doesn't think that that's what was on the agenda.
Says it, well, wait a minute now.
I don't know if anybody's told him yet what George Will said.
Utter full flower American progressivism after 100 years of maturation.
This is what it looks like.
And of course, Charlie said, well, everybody knows this doesn't look good, whatever it is.
It doesn't look good.
This is not what it was supposed to be.
This is my whole point.
Obama is illustrating that everything these people believe is bankrupt, folks.
It doesn't work.
Well, Obama's speaking right now, somewhere.
And basically, what he's saying is that we need to fix our politics.
Which in his world means people just need to stop disagreeing with me.
If people just stop disagreeing with me, then everything can be fine.
That's what's wrong with our politics, is he just doesn't get to be dictator.
