Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
Okay, level check test 12.
Ah, hey, no changes necessary.
Levels are set perfectly.
Unprecedented.
It's never happened.
It's never happened.
Normally, hi, folks, El Rushbo here, the EIB network, and we are in Los Angeles today.
And normally when we start from Los Angeles, the, I don't want to get too inside here, but the mix-minus audio match never just quite matches up.
We always have to do it live on a waste of precious broadcast minutes.
But now it's working fine.
So I only wasted a few minutes telling you that it's working fine.
Great to have you here as we kick off three hours of broadcast excellence.
Nothing's changed except where we are.
And remember, as long as I'm here, it doesn't matter where here is.
Telephone number, you want to be on the program is 800-282-2882 and the email address LRushbo at EIBnet.com.
Now, there is no Ditto Cam today, but we're going to be back here in two or three weeks.
And I am assured that there will be a Ditto Cam up and running the next trip and then all other trips out here after that.
So we spare no expense making investments here at the EIB network to continue to offer you what you're paying for.
And I don't like not having a Ditto Cam out here.
And so Snerdley is in New York today, and he can speak to me when I can't see him getting ready to speak to me.
So it's a total shock when he interrupts, as he just did.
Now, he thinks I'm lying to you about being eager to have the Ditto Cam out here.
I've said a couple of times in the past that a radio show is to be heard, not seen.
But we are going to put the camera here, whether I like it or not.
The Ditto Cam will be here the next trip that we're here.
And also, ladies and gentlemen, Mark Stein will be here tomorrow.
I said yesterday that a good friend of ours passed away yesterday, Myra Kraft, and we are attending the funeral tomorrow.
As such, we will not be able to do the program tomorrow.
So Mark Stein will be here for that.
And then next week, we're back to total normalcy.
We'll be back at the EIB Southern Command, and a full broadcast week hosted by me will then begin.
So I appreciate your patience and your indulgence in all of this.
But we make most of the moments that we have.
Did any of you get up early to see the shuttle land?
This is the final, and they landed in the dark.
Well, almost in the dark.
It was just, I mean, it was just barely light when the shuttle touched down.
And I continue to be amazed.
I guess obviously it's no big deal to come down from 235 miles with no power.
They do it every time and they've never once, well, there was an accident when shuttle exploded during re-entry.
But aside from that, it always works.
I can't relate to it.
I can't relate to coming down from 200, 17,500 miles an hour.
You hit the retro rockets or whatever they're now called and you slow yourself down and you get to the atmosphere and that slows you down even more.
And you're in basically a rock.
The glide ratio of this thing is like nine to one, which means it's a rock.
And from 235 miles, they come down, they hit a three-mile runway.
There's no chance to go around.
If they blow it, they blow it.
Now it comes down in this landing was for all intents and purposes in the dark.
I know these are great pilots and they fly instruments routinely and the computer does a lot of it, but that still amazes me.
But this was it, folks.
What a proud moment for the United States of America.
Just think.
I mean, you didn't have to get up and see it live.
You can see tape of it.
You can watch it on YouTube or any number of news sites or cable news stations to be able to tell your children and your grandchildren that you were there when the United States of America got out of the nonsense of space exploration by man.
And all the money got diverted to more useful things down here on earth, like Muslim outreach and studying the catastrophic effects of climate change.
Thanks to our dear leader, Barack Hussein Obama.
Remember the story we had, I guess, three weeks ago.
No, a month ago now.
It was getting into the 4th of July.
On the eve of the 4th of July, there was a story that 4th of July celebrations were only attractive and appealing to Republicans.
And if 4th of July celebrations actually tended to convert people to the Republican Party and explained a lot.
It explained why the Democrats, Democrats, really the 4th of July, no big deal to them.
In fact, many of the different varied constituency groups of the Democrat Party, there is no great thing about the birth of this nation.
There's no great thing about July 4th, independence and all that.
They think it's a flawed country from the get-go.
Racist, sexist, bigoted homophobes were the founders and all this sort of stuff.
So there are a group of people in this country that don't celebrate it.
Now, all happen to be Democrats or leftists who vote Democrat.
Well, get this now.
This is from Reuters.
It's a second expose of this story.
And basically, it is that.
Now, what did I do with it?
Ah, here we go.
Sorry, it's U.S. News and World Report.
Reuters, a different story.
U.S. flag only boosts GOP.
The U.S. flag makes people think and vote Republican, just like Fourth of July celebrate.
Now, I know no wonder Democrats and other leftists are always so eager to burn the American flag because it tends to motivate people to vote and think Republican.
Just a brief exposure to an image of the American flag shifts voters, even Democrats, to Republican beliefs, attitudes, and voting behavior, even though most don't believe it'll impact their politics.
According to a new two-year study just published in the scholarly Psychological Science.
You ever heard of that?
Psychological Science magazine.
What's more, according to the three authors from the University of Chicago, Cornell University, and Hebrew University, the impact had staying power.
A single exposure to an American flag resulted in a significant increase in participants' Republican voting intentions, voting behavior, political beliefs, and implicit and explicit attitudes, with some effects lasting as long as eight months.
Folks, go out and put a flag up front in the house.
Everybody get a flag out there.
Because it's a double whammy.
A, it'll tick off the Democrats.
Your house might be at risk, but it'll grow conservatism.
Look at this study, two-year study, three universities, three scholars, a single exposure.
I read this to you again.
A single exposure to an American flag resulted in a significant increase in participants' Republican voting intentions, voting behavior, political beliefs, and implicit and explicit attitudes, some effects lasting eight months.
These results constitute the first evidence that non-conscious priming effects from exposure to a national flag can bias the citizenry toward one political party and can have considerable durability.
Oh, this explains so much.
That's why they're left out there burning flags all day long, why they don't like the 4th of July.
This is classic.
This is the first study to look at the political impact on Americans who have seen an American flag.
And it seems to back up another recent Harvard University professor study that found that kids who attended a July 4th parade ended up leaning Republican when they grew up.
This is not that Harvard study.
This turns out not even related to it.
Turns out to be a companion study.
It's a separate study.
You can see where this is headed, though, can't you?
Soon, Fox, it's going to be against the law to have flags near polling stations.
What do you bet?
What do you bet it won't be long before the left and the Democrats suggest after looking at this that you can't use the American flag in a campaign ad?
Don't be surprised.
I know these people.
I know these people like every square inch of my glorious naked body.
And this is the kind of thing you're never going to see them react publicly to this.
But behind the scenes, they're looking at this and they'll believe it and they'll act accordingly.
You have to wonder how long it'll be before flying the flag is outlawed along with celebrating the 4th of July.
But the question here is, seriously, why should the symbol of America, our flag of patriotism, be so much more associated with the Republican Party than the Democrat Party?
That's a rhetorical question, of course, but still one worth asking.
Why does this happen?
4th of July, young kids turns them into Republicans.
Seeing the American flag boosts people's support of and intention to vote for the Republicans.
How does that happen?
It can only happen not because of the Republicans so much, but because of the Democrats.
It's obvious what the Democrats stand for.
For this study, the scholars asked mostly Democrat-leaning voters to join in the survey conducted just before.
This was before the immaculation of Obama, before the election even.
All were given a survey to fill out.
Half of those surveys included a small picture of an American flag in the top left corner.
90% said that they believe their voting behavior would not be influenced by the presence of a flag, but asking, after asking how they did vote, the study concluded this.
In contrast to the beliefs of the participants in the pilot study, the results from the experiments reported here show that exposure to the American flag introduces a bias toward the Republican Party over the Democrat Party.
In one experiment, we tested whether subtle exposure to the flag shifted people's beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors toward the Republican end of the political continuum.
And we found that a single exposure to a small American flag during deliberation about voting intentions prior to a general election led to significant and robust changes in participants' voting intentions, voting behavior, political attitudes, all in the politically conservative direction.
So you see, it goes even beyond voting Republican.
It means voting conservative.
It means we are a center-right country, and it means that we are a majority of the people and of the thinking in this country.
And it would, even it's a funny little story here.
It's nevertheless important, worthwhile, very instructive, and just another reason why go ahead and feel optimistic.
We're not alone.
We're not the minority.
We are the country.
We just need more and more elected representation of who we are.
In other words, we need to keep winning elections.
Okay, folks, time for brief timeout.
Again, we're in L.A. No ditto cam today, but this is the last trip out.
I'm pretty safe in saying this is our last trip in L.A. without the ditto cam.
Next time we're here, it should be two or three weeks.
We will have it up and running for those of you who subscribe to the website rushlimbaugh.com 24-7.
Brief timeout.
Be back right after this.
Doing what I was born to do.
El Rushbo, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned, maha-rushy, serving humanity behind the golden EIB microphone, audio soundbites last night in Kansas City.
Well, I don't know if he's in Kansas City or if he was interviewed by Kansas City Station, KMBC-TV, the anchor.
Lara Moritz interviewing President Obama.
Obama said this.
Ultimately, I think that I will be judged based on the American people believing that I'm fighting for them.
And if next November they feel like I've been on their side and I've been working as hard as I can and have been getting some things done to move us in the right direction, I'll win.
If they don't, then I'll lose.
And that's not to say that the other candidate is irrelevant, but it does mean that I'm probably going to win or lose depending on their assessment of my stewardship.
Well, that's partially true.
He says here that he's going to be judged based on the American people believing he's fighting for them.
So he says basically he's going to be elected on his good intentions.
The American people believe he's in there fighting for if that's what he's relying on.
I saw something also that the White House is going to ignore the economy.
They're not even going to talk about the economy during their reelection effort, which is a wise thing because they've destroyed it.
So I'm sitting here today and yesterday and last week and the week before that telling you if the election were held today, Obama loses and loses big and it's not even close.
And guess what?
Right here in my formerly nicotine stained fingers, a story from it just cleared here, Washington Times, a Democrat polling firm said that Obama's already weak job approval numbers are worse than they appear and he likely would lose the election if it were held today.
Everybody knows this.
No, this is one of these famous internal polls, which means it's honest.
This is one of those polls that they're paying for and conducting themselves.
They need the truth.
They don't, you know, an internal poll, a campaign poll, a presidential poll from inside the White House.
Those polls are never released.
They're not trying to shape public opinion with it.
They really want to get snapshot of where they are.
And that's what this poll is.
For the first time in a year, Mr. Obama does not lead Mitt Romney.
This is public policy polling and is a pro-Democrat firm.
A monthly national poll on the 2012 presidential race, Romney and Obama tied at 45%.
And Obama is losing among independent voters by a margin of 49 to 44.
Now, just yesterday, we had that bogus NBC Wall Street Journal poll, which told us, guess what?
The Independents have had it.
They forgot the way they voted in November or they regret the way they voted in November and they have ran back to Obama at breakneck speed.
They are in love with Obama again.
They want Obama to prevail in the debt fight.
They want Obama to prevail in the debt ceiling.
They want Obama to prevail in the budget.
The Independents have had it with the Republicans.
That's what we were supposed to take from the NBC Wall Street Journal poll.
And yet today, a Democrat polling firm sort of stabbing the NBC Wall Street Journal polling unit in the back here and pointing out the independents are still aligned anti-Obama.
And worse for Obama, public policy polling said that the vast majority of undecideds disapprove of the president's performance.
Why wouldn't they?
You realize, folks, the number of people in the real world, if you could get a genuinely honest poll, the number of people who like where we are right now, the number of people who are happy where we are right now has got to be below 30%.
I don't think it's a mystery.
I don't think we've gotten to the point where this is the kind of country that a majority of Americans want.
We know we haven't gotten to that point.
Now, we do go back and forth.
I'm sure when you talk to your friends, conversation runs the gamut from is the country finished or, gosh, how much time do we have before it's finished?
It's not finished, but it is on the brink.
If this guy gets four more years unchecked, all bets are off.
There's no indication from this regime that they have any intention doing anything different whatsoever.
They just want to double down on what they've done.
The vast majority of the American people, nobody's happy.
Nobody's looking down the road, the future with a rosy outlook.
Well, maybe Apple Incorporated, maybe a couple of corporations that happen to be defying the odds, which always happens, always.
I don't know how bad the economy is.
Some people are always going to do well in it.
But the average American, no.
And this PPP poll right on the money.
You know, I just took a look here to my left.
Two television monitors are my left out here.
And one's got Fox on one, MSNBC on the other.
Fox just ran a crawl saying that bipartisan support for the gang of six thing is growing.
Folks, I believe that's crock.
I don't think there may be bipartisan support growing, but it's nowhere near passing anywhere in the House of Representatives.
I don't know what Support may be growing, but it isn't anywhere near passage.
Gang of six business.
I want to go back to this Obama soundbite because I've got a couple that are companion soundbites after it and I'm going to play.
He was in the White House.
He wasn't in Kansas City.
He just did an interview for Kansas City Local Station, KMBC, Infobabe Laura Moritz.
And again, this is what he said about the next election.
Ultimately, I think that I will be judged based on the American people believing that I'm fighting for them.
Right.
Yeah.
Next November, they feel like I've been on their side and I've been working as hard as I can and have been getting some things done to move us in the right direction.
I'll win.
If they don't, then I'll lose.
And that's not to say that the other candidate is irrelevant, but it does mean that I'm probably going to win or lose depending on their assessment of my stewardship.
Okay, he says, based on the American people believing I'm fighting for them.
Who?
He's fighting for us against whom?
Who is Obama fighting?
He's fighting us.
He is fighting against the people of this country.
He is governing against the will of the people of this country.
Obamacare, his ideas on immigration, his ideas on anything are governing against the majority will, the people of this country.
American people think I'm fighting for them.
And let's, from the perspective of the American people, who, let's say there are some who think Obama is fighting for them.
Who are they fighting?
Or who's he fighting?
Militant Islamists, communists?
Yugo Chavez, who's he fighting?
He's fighting Republicans.
He's fighting conservatives.
He's fighting other Americans.
This is a president at war with his own country.
Is he fighting against unemployment?
Nope.
Is he fighting for energy independence?
Nope.
Claims to be.
Here's what Obama said back in February 2009.
This on the Today Show, Matt Wower said, you know, you'll know quickly how people feel about the job you did in office.
You get a pretty good feel really quickly about what's happened.
That's exactly right.
And, you know, a year from now, I think people are going to see that we're starting to make some progress, but there's still going to be some pain out there.
If I don't have this done in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition.
Okay, so he's moved the goalpost now because back in 2009, he gave himself three years.
And if he hasn't fixed things in three years, then he's going to be a one-term president.
It's only gotten worse.
He's not close to winning.
I guarantee you.
It's not 45-45, as PPP says.
And it's not 49-44 independence.
It is landslide report if the election's held today.
Guarantee you.
Nothing's changed since November that caused that landslide victory, except things have gotten worse.
Now, this morning on PMS, NBC, a daily rundown show, the host F. Chuck Todd played the sound bite.
You just heard of the presidency.
He's out there fighting for everybody.
And if people think he's fighting for him, then he's going to win.
After playing that bite, F. Chuck decided he needed to analyze it.
The president says that the election is going to be a referendum on himself.
I can imagine how the White House campaign team is going to spend this a little bit.
And they'll say something like, well, of course, it'll be somewhat about the president, but the idea of two visions is still going to matter.
And it is still going to be a choice at the end of the day.
We'll see.
That's a classic Washington gaffe when somebody accidentally speaks the truth in one of those spin sessions.
Whoa.
F. Chuck just said that Obama committed a gaffe because he told the truth.
Now, what does that tell us?
F. Chuck said, I've been trying to cover for the guy.
We're doing everything we can to cover for the guy, but he had to go out there and screw it all up by telling the truth.
So we got to find a way to sell this or to spin it.
Bad move for Obama to say the election will be a referendum on it.
F. Chuck, you got to realize you're dealing with a narcissist here.
He wants the election to be about him.
One more.
Last night, I guess he was doing interviews all over the place from the White House, little bits and pieces of interviews.
This from Ohio 10 TV, Eyeball News.
The anchor Jerry Revish says, still a lot of frustration from people continuing to wait for that change that you promised.
They don't feel better off now than they were three years ago.
How do you convince them that we're headed in the right direction?
The vast majority of people understand that this is something that we inherited.
That when I came into office, we had already lost 4 million jobs.
And then the few months after I got sworn in, we lost another 4 million.
What I think the American people want to know is there's a game plan for the future.
What people want to know is that we're moving in the right direction, even if they're frustrated about how fast we're moving.
We need to speed it up.
But I think the trajectory is a good one.
Yeah, it's all Bush's fault what that means.
Yeah, yeah.
Vast majority of people understand something that we inherited.
I came into office, we'd already lost 4 million jobs.
No, not true.
The massive layoffs began in November of 2008 after he won the election and before he was emaculated.
That's when everybody's grandmother got pushed over the cliff.
That's when it started because businesses, oh my gosh, were cooked because they had heard what the guy said.
And that's when it all started.
And so what I think the American people want to know is there's a game plan future.
Damn right.
Where's your plan?
Mr. President, you don't have a budget.
You don't have anything on paper.
There's nothing anybody can go to and say this is what you believe or what you want, particularly in the debt fight, which, of course, is by design.
So he's banking on the fact that he still has the power of this messianic personality and the dominant mainstream media to continue getting away with the illusion that is Barack Obama that they succeeded in convincing everybody of in 2008.
And I don't buy it.
To the phones, who's up first?
Rachel in Manhattan.
Rachel, thank you for waiting.
It's great to have you on the program.
Hi.
Hi, Rush.
You know, Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a racist.
She's a racist, all right?
She doesn't like black conservative men like Alan West.
The horrible things she said about him, I think there was some kind of rally in front of his campaign office in October of last year before the election that he hates women.
And now she's a liar.
She is nasty.
She's the one that voted for Obamacare that took out the $500 million.
Yeah, that's key.
She's a racist.
Obviously, we got to give it back to them, Rush.
She is a racist.
That's running around trying to tell South Florida residents that Alan West wants to cut Medicare and Social Security when she herself voted for Obamacare, which cut $500 billion from Medicare.
Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz is deranged.
Folks, she is typical of today's American left.
They are deranged.
We face a delusional enemy.
So this woman takes to the floor of the House and violates long-standing decorum by calling out another member.
Now, I couldn't care less.
Times are what they are, but the House does have that understanding that members are not to be called out.
She did it.
And West replied, you know, West is a tough guy, and he is a brilliant man, and he's a good and decent man, and he has served in the U.S. military, and he's gone up against people far tougher than Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz.
And so he fired back after, and this is not the first time she said this stuff about Alan West.
She says it all the time in South Florida.
The first time she said it on the floor of the House.
So what did she do?
She ran like a little crybaby to all these other left-wing women of the Democrat Party to help her out.
And they start returning fire that West is the racist and rest is the sexist and so forth.
It would be the same left-wing women, by the way, who have said not a damn thing about the attacks on Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman, the same left-wing women who couldn't care less if those two women are destroyed.
The same left-wing women who go wobbly-kneed over Bill Clinton, who abused women left and right.
These same left-wing women who have offered who knows what kind of favors to Bill Clinton to thank him for protecting abortion.
So, Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz goes against all these other left-wing women.
I don't think they're to be taken seriously.
They're liberals.
Their concern for womanhood is really a concern for liberalism.
We know that.
Feminism is not really about women's rights.
It's about the sacrament to the religion of liberalism, which is abortion.
Their outrage is selective and politically expedient.
You people in Boca who live in Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz district, do you know that she is the one who voted to slash Medicare by half a trillion dollars?
Debbie Wasserman Schultz voted to set up a 15-member board whose purpose is to slash the drugs and procedures that Medicare provides.
She voted for that.
It's called Obamacare.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz voted for the death panels.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz voted for Obamacare, which is going to blow up the American healthcare system if it is fully implemented.
She is the one who is going to have the blood on her hands of an absolutely horrid piece of legislation.
But you have to ask yourself, why are they going after Alan West?
What happened here?
I'll tell you what's going on.
I'll tell you why you go after Alan West.
He's effective.
Alan West is one of a few who routinely stands up, speaks positively about the country and conservatism.
He opposes the left-wing agenda.
He does it and articulates it flawlessly.
And as such, he's made himself a big target.
Now, I think that it's clear they're going to take him out.
The whole point here, they have made a strategic decision, decision to take Alan West out.
Where are the charges of racism here?
Here is a white woman from South Florida going after an African-American lies.
You reverse this situation.
You make the African-American a Democrat and the woman a conservative, and you check the difference in reaction here.
They're trying to take Alan West out, and if they succeed, the result will be that no other conservative is going to ever have the guts to stand up and speak his mind and say what needs to be said for fear of the same treatment.
Because if you've noticed, nobody on the Republican side is coming to West's defense, which is a huge error.
So we've got our guys, we've got West and a couple of others, good guys, speak out.
They end up being targeted, and no one comes to their defense within the party.
Let's say they leave it all up to people in talk radio to do it.
So the left goes out, forms their attack squads.
Here we have a war hero, Alan West, a war hero, a great conservative, dared to fire back at these lunatics.
And here comes this delusional, deranged nut, and he's alone.
He's alone in this.
Why?
Anyway, I think it's an indication of what's out there.
And if she gets away with this, I'm telling you, he's a target.
They're trying to take him out any which way they can.
And if they get away with this, these people are constantly scheming this way.
And if they get away with this, folks, I guarantee you, you're always calling me, why don't the Republicans say this?
Or why don't Republicans?
No Republicans are going to do diddly squat if they succeed in taking Alan West out because none of them are going to want to be the next target.
It's just that simple.
So it's time for somebody to return fire from the position of the party itself.
Realize what's going on here.
How can you not realize what's going on?
I think this is.
Okay, so our dear leader, Barack Hussein Obama, says we're going in the right direction.
And people's got to realize that he's fighting for them.
What he doesn't realize is that Bill O'Reilly owns that.
Bill O'Reilly's been looking out for us for 10 years.
There's no room for Obama to be looking out for us because O'Reilly's got that sewn up.
O'Reilly's caring for us.
So Obama's late to the show on that.
So now he's gone from, well, if they know we're fighting, I'm fighting for them.
You're fighting who?
And now the stimulus, hey, who cares about the results?
It was my good intentions.
That's all that counts.
The typical answer, every time a leftist program ends up in the trash or is a gigantic failure, they always end up saying, don't judge the outcome.
Don't judge the results.
Look at my heart.
Look at my intention.
Okay, I'm more than willing.
I am more than willing to challenge Obama's good intentions because I think he got exactly what he wanted with all of this.
He said we're going in the right direction.
Really?
New claims for unemployment benefits rose more than expected last week.
A government report showed pointing to a labor market that's struggling to regain momentum after job growth faltered in the last two months.
I can't, I cannot stop laughing because that's the only way I can keep from crying.
Their headline, jobless claims rise above expectations.
Rise above expectations?
Doesn't that sound like a good thing?
When you see a headline, jobless claims rise above expectations.
Wow, that's good news.
This is classic journalistic malpractice.
Jobless claims rise above expectations.
Don't we all want to rise above our expectations?
Everybody wants to outdo their expectations.
Everybody wants to do better than their expectations.
And now our jobless claims, why they're rising above expectations?
No.
I'm beginning to think the labor market must be racist to keep being so mean to Mr. Obama here.
Judging from the AP piece, consumers must be racist saboteurs as well.
Because Chuck Schumer and all these other people, well, the economy is fine.
It's just people are cowards and they refuse to go out and participate.
At any rate, the jobless numbers are way up.
There's nothing good about them.
We're not going in the right direction on unemployment, except maybe from Obama's point of view, this irresponsible headline notwithstanding.
Okay, another exciting hour of broadcast excellence in the can and on the way over to the warehouse housing our artifacts for the Limbaugh Broadcast Museum.
The virtual broadcast museum is up and running and it is stunning.
Folks, it's fabulous.
You can see the virtual museum broadcasting at rushlimbaugh.com.
Alan West, I think, is a real rarity.
Alan West is a Republican male with as much testosterone as Republican women have.
