Time Text
The views expressed by the host on this program are eagerly anticipated by starving millions thirsting for truth.
It is provided free each and every day here from the Limbaugh Institute for advanced conservative studies.
It's the largest free education institution in the world.
And there are no graduates and there are no degrees because the learning never stops.
Happy to have you along, folks, of the fastest three hours in media rush limbo at 800-282-2882.
Email address lrushbo at eib.com.
So earlier, Mitch McConnell, in responding to the president, suggesting that Congress get its button gear and everybody start working together.
Mitch McConnell said, okay, Mr. President, come on up and see us here in the Senate.
We Republicans are ready.
We're ready to roll up our sleeves.
We're ready to get working with you here on the debt limit and what to do about it.
Come on up.
Jay Carney at the White House during the briefing responded.
What the senator invited the president to do was to hear Senate Republicans restate their maximalist position.
We know what that position is.
And he also invited the president to hear what would not pass.
That's not a conversation worth having.
What we need to have is a conversation about what will pass.
So basically, Jay Carney flips the bird to Mitch McConnell.
McConnell says, come on up.
Come to Capitol Hill.
You claim we're not working.
We're here.
Come on up and let's do a deal.
Jay Carney says, we're not going to talk to you.
You're not budging off your maximalist position.
We know what that is.
You just want the president to come up there to hear what's not going to pass.
That's not a conversation worth having.
What we need to have is a conversation about what will pass, meaning you guys shut up and just sign what I want.
I'll hear about it at the halfway house between 9 and 10 at Congressional.
So they didn't mean any of that yesterday.
It's just dealing with a man child here, folks.
We're dealing with somebody who's not serious.
Well, he's not serious about his desire to work with Republicans.
He's not serious about anything other than presiding over the decline of this country.
From the U.S. News and World Report, Harvard University says that July 4th parades are just a bunch of right-wing movements and Democrats don't even bother showing up.
Democrat political candidates can skip this weekend's July 4th parades.
A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans.
They turn kids into Republicans.
They help to boost Republican turnout of adults on Election Day.
4th of July celebrations in America shape the nation's political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation primarily in favor of the Republican Party, said the report from Harvard.
Finally, they admit it.
The Democrats don't care about the nation's founding.
They admit it.
They admit that celebrating the founding of this nation is a Republican event.
It's a conservative event, that liberals Are not welcome, that liberals don't care and that they don't show up the three key findings of those attending 4th Of July celebrations.
When done before the age of 18, it increases the likelihood of a youth identifying as a Republican by at least 2.
It raises the likelihood that parade watchers will vote for a Republican candidate by 4.
It boosts the likelihood a reveler will vote by about 1% and increases the chances they'll make a political contribution by 3.
What's more, the impact isn't fleeting.
Surprisingly, the estimate shows that the impact on political preferences is permanent with no evidence of the effects depreciating as individuals become older, said the Harvard Report.
Is that not stunning?
Or is it stunning?
What does this say about the patriotism of liberals?
What does this say?
4th of July parades make people vote Republican.
4th of July parades turn kids into Republicans.
4th of July parades do all of this permanently.
The political right has been more successful in appropriating American patriotism and its symbols during the 20th century.
Survey evidence also confirms that Republicans consider themselves more patriotic than Democrats do.
According to this interpretation, there is a political congruence between the patriotism promoted on the 4th of July and the values associated with the Republican Party.
4th of July celebrations in Republican-dominated counties may thus be more politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans, said Harvard Kennedy school assistant professor David Drot.
Their findings also suggest that Democrats gain nothing from July 4th parades, likely a shocking result for all the Democrat politicians who march in them.
There is no evidence of an increased likelihood of identifying as a Democrat, indicating that 4th of July shifts preferences to the right rather than increasing political polarization.
Democrats gather to protest their handouts being cut.
That's their celebration.
That's their parade.
The Democrats and the unions, they get together when they think their benefits are being cut, when their handouts are being cut, when their food stamps are about to be shut off.
That's when they get patriotic.
That's when they show up.
When the freebies, when they fear the freebies are about to run out, that's when they parade.
Except, there's are not celebrations.
There's our instances of rage.
I love this.
Absolutely.
By the way, ladies and gentlemen, we have had an overwhelming number of entries at our website, 2IFBT.com.
Remember, what we're going to do, we're going to send a refrigerated, giant semi-truck trailer load of refrigerated, chilled, to if-by-tea iced tea to a community's 4th of July celebration.
What we did, we opened the website to people tell us why we should send a truckload of two of my tea to their town in their celebration.
We are going to announce tomorrow where that location is by rule.
I can tell you now we've made the decision.
Well, what are you looking so surprised at in there for, Brian?
Yeah, we've already made the decision.
I mean, folks, you made it tough.
The entries that we got, at some point, I want to share some of these somehow.
The things that people have written about their communities and about their country melt your heart.
It just, it made me feel good.
I could tell you today where we're going to send the tea.
Well, I might read a couple of them.
I don't have them.
Actually, I do have them here.
I'll do some of that tomorrow on Open Line Friday when we make the announcement.
But it's Monday that we're sending the T in there.
They got this giant banner made for both sides of the trailer.
Me as Rush Revere.
Do I have the actual get up?
Do I have the wig and the hat and the Rush Revere?
Not as of yet.
Not as of yet.
I wonder there's an additional surprise attached to this.
I wonder if I should mention that now or just wait till tomorrow.
Yeah, I think I'll wait.
I just, oh, oh, wait until tomorrow.
Yeah, since we're going to make the whole announcement tomorrow.
You know the thing about it?
This Harvard survey, it's the 4th of July every day here on the EIB network.
That's what I've learned.
Every day here is the 4th of July.
This is really, really eye-opening.
Harvard is basically telling Democrat politicians, don't even show up at 4th of July parades.
It's not helping.
They are exclusive Republican gatherings.
Think of this.
You know, Harvard is a gospel to these people.
And they're worried.
4th of July parade.
I guarantee you, a 4th of July public celebration is going to be the next target of the left, much as nativity scenes have become a target.
You wait with the release of this information that 4th of July parades turn kids into Republicans.
Can you imagine the panic that's already setting in out there?
Man, are we going to have fun with this, folks?
All right, let me take a brief time out.
We'll come back and more of your, oh, speaking of food stamps and how the Democrats gather.
Newt Gingrich has come up with something good here.
Newt said, if you are the Republicans, you should say we have more people on food stamps today than ever before in history.
President Obama is the most successful food stamp president in American history.
We need a program to put 14 million Americans back to work.
We are committed to creating jobs.
The Democrats are committed to killing jobs.
You decide which future you want, paychecks or food stamps.
Republicans shouldn't flinch because Democrats yell class warfare.
Republicans shouldn't blink and run for the hills.
You ought to be calm and say, this is the Obama Depression.
It's going to get worse under his policies, and we ought to change it now.
You know, when Newt said this, remember Newts, they said this to David Gregory on Meet the Depressed.
Gregory had a cow called him.
That's a racist comment.
And Newton, what do he come on?
Guys, the president of the United States are crying out loud.
Gregory, he's the president, United States, he's got policies.
He's got to be held accountable.
We got more people on food stamps than in the history of the country.
Right now, under his leadership, the real racism is Gregory charging racism is, what must he think of food stamp recipients?
That's what Gregory's obviously thinking.
Food stamp recipients are all black.
That's where the real racism is.
uh look and i can review yes i do have the wig snurdly and i do have the rush revere cap i i do i do have this stuff Of course I've got it.
It's the model.
I'm the logo.
I'm the icon for two if by T.
Oh, you'll see.
Before the end of the year, you want to see me in that get up, in that garb, on the ditto cam?
Oh, you'll see it long before the end of the year.
You might see it next week.
We'll be back.
Don't go away.
Bye.
now couple things here about harvard harvard does what harvard socializes people to the left right harvard converts people to the left
and look what that costs how many thousands of dollars a year does it take to send your young skull full of mush off to harvard to be corrupted indoctrinated into a young skull full of liberalism twenty thirty thousand dollars how much does it cost to go to a fourth of july parade it's el freebo It is el, for the parades are free.
All you have to do is show up.
Well, I mean, there's there's concessions that you can buy, but for the most part, you just show up at a fourth of july parade.
You are patriotic.
Well, this is really stunning folks, really stunning.
In fact, from the um, from this, from the article, there is no evidence of an increased likelihood of identifying as a Democrat at a fourth of july parade, indicating that fourth of july shifts preferences to the right rather than increasing political polarization.
That's profound, no evidence of an increased likelihood of identifying as a Democrat.
In other words you, if you're a Democrat and you go to a fourth of july celebrate, you you're not.
You're not inspired.
Nothing happens to you.
In fact, you probably get a little ticked off at what you're seeing.
You get ticked off at the flag.
You get ticked off at the country groups.
You get ticked off at the bands.
You get ticked off at all the hicks and Hayseeds that you see at the parade.
You get mad at all the military people.
You see, if you're a Democrat, you go to a fourth of july celebration, you get ticked off.
You might end up calling the president a dick, like Mark Halperin did.
Grab audio somebody number one, if you're just joining us today on Msnbc, Mark Halperin, with Joe Scarborough and the boys sitting here talking about Obama in his press conference yesterday, was in the seven second delay today.
I wanted to characterize how I thought the president behaved.
Thought he was kind of a dick yesterday.
Yep, sir Rebub, Dick Obama.
And that's what you feel like when you're a Democrat and you go to a 4th of July parade.
Everything about it irritates you.
Just like during Christmas time, a nativity scene irritates you.
But what do you get proud of?
What makes you happy if you're a Democrat?
You go to a museum and you see a crucifix of Christ in a jar of urine.
That's what you want to celebrate.
Or some performance artist.
Laid out on a stage nude in chocolate.
That's what you proclaim as your patriotism.
Or a screaming, squawking Hillary Clinton.
So a Democrat shows up at a 4th of July parade and does nothing but get mad.
Other people show up and love the country and become Republican.
And the parades are free, and the Harvard admission is a fortune.
It costs a lot to rewire Americans.
The natural thing is free.
You show up to a 4th of July parade, you get patriotic, go, yeah, America, proud as I can be, costs you nothing.
But to convert that to a liberal takes 20 grand a year at an institution of higher learning.
That story, I'm going to tell you something, folks.
That Harvard story shows that we Americans are actually hardwired to love our country.
That's all that means.
We are hardwired to love our country as Americans.
Actually, it was Ronaldo's Magnus who once said to Republicans every day is July 4th, to Democrats every day is April 15th.
In other words, for Democrats, their 4th of July is April 15th.
Tax Collection Day.
Anyway, phones, who's next?
Stephen, Shreveport, Louisiana.
Welcome to the EIB Network.
Great to have you with us, sir.
Great to be here, Rush.
I'll tell you, I've been listening to you for a long time, and I'm really shocked how few people call to take you on task of your truth, of what you call the truth.
Last week you mentioned something about the socialists don't create wealth, and today you say that Obama is wrong saying that cutting spending will not build prosperity.
I mean, there's all kinds of examples of that in the private industries.
I mean, GE cut spending, jobs, and businesses in the 90s, and they have destroyed $200 billion in market value.
It's hard-pressed to find any nation on earth that is wealthy that does not have a socialist economy.
I have totally lost the ability to keep up with you here.
Okay.
What did you do?
You said, what did I say?
Socialism doesn't create wealth.
Yeah, you said socialists.
It doesn't.
Socialism does not create.
It redistributes wealth.
Socialism doesn't create didley.
Socialism is a parasite.
Well, how do you explain Canada?
How do you explain Japan, Germany, Switzerland?
How do you explain the wealth of these nations?
They aren't wealthy.
Have you looked at them?
Canada, by the way, is being run by a bunch of conservatives right now and has been for a long time.
These Western European socialist democracies are about broke and turning around.
Look at Greece.
That's what you get.
You got 14% permanent unemployment in the UK in France.
There's no wealth.
They can't defend themselves.
What are you talking about?
A good book called The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith.
Very powerful.
I recommend all your listeners read it.
Very powerful.
And understanding what the invisible hand really is.
I mean, Adam Smith spelled it out.
Okay.
I want you to walk me through.
The countries that are now socialist are still living off of their former capitalism.
There is no startup socialist country that you can show me that's wealthy.
Cuba?
Even the Chikoms have had to go capitalist in order to feed their people.
Thank you.
Ba-ba-do-ba-da-ba-ba-do-ba-d.
Rush Limbaugh clear of voice, clear of mind.
This guy, I don't think, has read Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith.
Let me summarize.
You know, one of the great things about me, did I actually say that?
Make the complex understandable.
You want to know if you don't have to read Wealth of Nations.
I'm just going to tell you about it.
Adam Smith's point is, by looking out for yourself, your own selfish self-interest, the general good, is accomplished.
It is, frankly, where I learned the difference between selfishness and self-interest.
And the two are often combined, mistakenly so.
Self-interest is not selfishness.
A man seeking to improve his lot in life so that his family benefits is acting in his own self-interest.
If he, in his own self-interest, improves himself and his family, then the general good is accomplished.
And this pretty much is a summary, a summarization of Wealth of Nations.
The invisible hand, self-interest, looking out for yourself, not depending on somebody else.
And now that's often confused.
In fact, not often.
It is the Democrats and liberals today, every chance they get, try to call that selfishness.
And it isn't.
The other guy wants to respond to the calls.
Marty, Fort Pierce, Florida.
Great to have you on the program, sir.
Hi.
Hi there.
Yes.
Well, you just said what I was going to say, which I don't know where this guy got what he was talking about.
The invisible hand is the essence of capitalism.
Yes.
And it's pure capitalism.
If I go about doing the best I can for my family, my self-interest, I could, I mean, even, well, I guess greed would kind of nix that out.
But if I just go about it and do the best I can.
Well, even greed, greed sometimes is misdefined in this context.
Yeah, it is.
But if I go about it and just to the height of my ambition, do the best I can, the way our country is set up, the way it's going to work out, way capitalism works, it's just amazing.
And he couldn't even define it.
He just said, just the invisible hand.
He didn't know what he was talking about.
That's why I couldn't follow him.
I literally, you know, my brain and socialism, it's tough to follow.
Let me quote Adam Smith.
You'll recognize this because you've read the book.
And this is another just very succinct explanation, illustration.
It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own self-interest.
In other words, the butcher is not working in his shop so that you can eat.
He's doing it so that he can.
But by virtue of him being there doing what he does, you're able to.
He's looking out for his own self-interest.
The general good is elevated.
Liberals despise that.
They despise that way of thinking.
The purpose of a corporation is to provide health care.
The purpose of a corporation is to provide jobs.
That's it.
The purpose of a corporation is to provide benefits.
Well, nothing could be further from the truth.
That's not the purpose of a corporation or a business, large or small.
The invisible hand is everybody looking out for themselves.
It's the essence of capitalism.
Like you, Marty, I had no clue what the guy was talking about.
Audio soundbite time.
This is the forehead Paul Bogala.
Last night, CNN's Anderson Cooper 32.
The guest was the forehead, Paul Bogala.
And during a discussion about the debt ceiling and the breakdown in federal budget negotiations, Bagala said this.
We have a debt crisis.
The American economy is facing default.
Republicans have got to agree to ask wealthy people and big corporations and big oil companies to pay a little bit more until they're ready to acknowledge the obvious.
They're going to plunge this country.
I worry that maybe they're rooting for America to fail so that Obama can be defeated.
I hate to think that.
See, did I not tell you this last week?
I called it.
I warned you about this.
This is the tack.
Republicans are sabotaging the economy.
The Democrats are taking and projecting exactly what they are doing and projecting it onto Republicans.
The economy is being sabotaged.
The Bagala, the foreheader, this is just, you know, I've never met the forehead.
I've had email exchanges with the guy, and he's Carville's best buddy.
And he's a mean guy.
I mean, he's a naturally angry guy, but he's not stupid.
He doesn't really believe this until big corporations and oil companies pay a little bit more.
He's just doing hackery there.
He's just doing hackism.
He's just spouting the Democrat Party line there.
He knows that jet owners and big corporations, oil companies paying more is not going to make a twiddling bit of difference whatsoever.
The forehead's going to get mad at me calling him smart, but so be it.
Also last night, CNN on client number nine's show, still waiting for Weiner to show up as co-host on this one.
Spitzer Weiner.
Wiener Spitzer.
Tonight at 8 on CNN.
Elliot Spitzer spoke with ESPN.com's page 2 columnist, L.Z. Granderson.
ESPN has a website called Page 2.
And this columnist, LZ Granderson, they were talking about Obama's press conference.
Client number 9 said at the press conference today, you thought maybe he was going to say something about same-sex marriage.
He never quite says it.
Why?
What's the calculus that goes behind this?
Where do you think Obama really is in his heart of hearts?
What does he think about same-sex marriage?
Now listen to this answer.
I think in his heart of hearts, he has no problem at all with marriage equality.
He decided to play politics and sacrifice his true feelings.
Why doesn't he say it?
I think because the soundbite is a pretty powerful weapon.
I think I can hear Rush Limbaugh right now playing that over and over and over again to his base.
I support same-sex marriages, and I don't think he wants to give him that.
Spitzer didn't want to hear my name on his show.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
So I'm the reason.
I, El Rushball, harmless, lovable little fuzzball, I am the reason Obama won't publicly come out and support same-sex marriage.
Snerdley.
Well, oh, you think this guy's being honest?
Well, there's another reason.
It's not just me.
No, Snerdley, come on.
You know, Snerdley, folks, you have to understand something.
We all are very fortunate in our lives if there is someone that grants us unconditional love.
And I say this from the bottom of my heart: Bo Snerdley has unconditional love for me.
And Bo Snerdley thinks that I have been given the short shrift of respect and all of that professionally, personally, throughout the 23 years in August of this program.
He thinks anytime I am credited for something, he thinks it's due and deserved and so forth.
And he has little bias in this regard.
I love you for it, Snerdley.
I really do.
But in this case, I am not the main reason.
You know better than I do.
And once her face, Michelle Mybel, she won't come out and say it either because it just isn't acceptable in the black community, is it?
Are they?
Are the poll numbers changing?
But deny it just a little bit.
It's still a non-starter, isn't it?
It's among the older generation of African Americans.
It's a non-starter.
You don't go there.
They're just not into it.
You can blame me, L.Z. Granderson, all you want, and I'll take it.
When did marriage become so important, so vital to the left anyway?
Really?
When did it become 40 years ago?
Marriage was considered outdated, old-fashioned by the hippies and the liberals.
You know, back in the 60s, it was an antiquated, old-fashioned monograph.
What the hell is this?
It only mattered if you were sincere.
After all, marriage was only a piece of paper.
Living together was good for the world.
Today, the liberals say that marriage is the most important thing you can do, but only if you're gay.
Liberals started caring about marriage when the gays started demanding it.
Healthcare benefits, healthcare benefits are attached.
I know.
It's going bonkers up there in New York.
Here's the break.
Take it.
Here is Harlan Garland, Texas.
Great to have you on the EIB network, sir.
Hi.
Thank you, sir.
Hi.
You know, Obama is really waging the classic Marxist warfare, and he uses words to do it.
Yep.
And it doesn't matter to him whether every word that comes out of his mouth is a flat lie, whether he knows it or anybody else knows it.
He doesn't care because what he's trying to do is misinform, discourage, undermine, and mislead.
I remember listening to Ron Reagan, particularly in the one that you played, where he announces his candidate.
And Reagan was always encouraging.
I remember hearing him on TV.
Let me ask you a question.
Harlan, let me ask you a question.
You sit there and you say that Obama is trying to misinform and discourage and undermine mislead.
Why?
Why would he want to do that to people?
Because I think he wants to undermine any kind of encouragement.
He wants to discourage.
Because discouragement feeds this.
Why?
How does he benefit from that?
Because he gains power.
It's a Catholic Marxist.
It's a Marxist trek.
Exactly right.
The more discouraged you are, the more defeated you are, the more hopeless you feel, you'll turn to Obama for your solution.
Harlan is exactly right.
Exactly right.
I must tell you, folks, that the United States has decided to formally resume contact with Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood group, which does not recognize Israel.
This is a move that could further alienate some Jewish voters from Obama.
So Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas al-Assad, Obama sees reformers.
And he's right, just like Obama said he would remake America.
The Muslim Brotherhood, we are going to recognize the Muslim Brotherhood.
It did.
It's inexplicable.
In case you missed it, earlier today on MSNBC.
In the seven-second delay today, I wanted to characterize how I thought the president behaved.
I thought he was kind of a dick yesterday.
That's Mark Halperin, formerly Time magazine now with MSNBC, although he's been suspended indefinitely for that characterization of President Dick Obama.
