Yeah, I got a whole stack of stuff that I still got to get to here.
It's open line Friday.
I got a whole stack of stuff to get through it because it's good stuff, too.
So it's Friday.
Sit tight.
Here we go.
Live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida.
It's Open Line Friday.
Man, it looks like the Star Wars bar scene on my television.
Harry Reid and the Democrats at a joint press conference, and they are not smiling.
I mean, it looks like all of the Senate Democrats lined up there for a presser.
Dingy Harry speaking, and he looks like he's sucking on a lemon.
He does not look happy out there.
This looks like a rogues gallery, if I have ever seen one.
We always thought that the Democrats wanted a government that looks like America.
This does not look like any America I've ever seen.
And he's not happy.
Obviously, the negotiations here are not going well, unless this is just a prelude and they're just doing this for the effect of it.
But we have people on here, folks, monitoring this.
Things just started.
I was in the other room showing off my latest toy to some friends of mine here.
So I don't really know what Dingy Harry is saying.
Although, I mean, I do know because Republicans have a choice, shut down the government over women's healthcare, women's healthcare.
It's about abortion.
I guarantee you, this is about abortion.
He's saying a shutdown would hurt the United States' credibility around the world.
Barack Obama is hurting our credibility around the world.
Harry, this war is lost.
Reed.
Speaking before the toy?
No, I got a Verizon just activated their LTE 4G cellular network here in South Florida.
I'm guessing because a lot of their execs have homes here.
So I went out and I got a Wi-Fi hotspot, a mobile hotspot.
This thing is the size of a credit card, a little thicker than that, obviously.
But it receives the 4G signal and converts it to Wi-Fi.
So I've been doing speed tests with it.
And when I've got a full-strength 4G signal, I'm getting, at times, 8 megabytes down.
Usually it's between 7, 7.5 megabytes download, 3 to 4 upload speed.
Now, our Wi-Fi system here, we've got 17 to 20 megabytes down on our Wi-Fi system here, so it doesn't compete with that.
But 3G is what, 1, 1.5 megabytes down if you're lucky.
And the edge network 2G is 512.
So this thing is cool.
This is 7 megabytes, 10 megabytes down, 3 up.
No, our Wi-Fi is, I've had our Wi-Fi here as high as 25 megabytes down.
But don't try that at home.
No, I don't use it here.
I've been in the car or elsewhere.
I just had it to play with.
And it's cool.
It really is.
I have a saw story here that I actually saw it at the Huffing and Puffington Post.
And it's a poll.
U.S. support for free market capitalism drops below China and Brazil nearly three years after the financial system first came perilously close to collapse.
American support for an unregulated free market appears to have cratered.
And somebody sent me a note and said, well, that's hilarious.
And it's not hilarious the way I read it.
They said, yes, it is hilarious.
It's hilariously absurd.
And it is.
Here you have, you have people in China and Brazil.
What are they doing?
They're drilling for oil.
The CHICOMs are embracing capitalism.
The Brazilians embracing capitalism in a number of places.
The Europeans are giving up social.
Well, they're dialing it back.
They're trying to.
They're trying to get rid of the socialist spending commitments because they can't afford them anymore.
Meanwhile, what are we doing?
Our own president is whining that it would be easier to be dictator of China, sings the praises of the bounties of the CHICOM system.
On Wednesday, Nicholas Kristoff of the New York Times said, if congressional Republicans actually shut down the government this weekend, they will be making a powerful argument for autocracy.
And, you know, back in January, we discussed this piece, Thomas L. Friedman in the New York Times, who was praising China's one-party authoritarian state repeatedly.
Friedman hails communist China's one-party autocracy as superior to American democracy.
So you have all these ruling class leftists who are now of the opinion that democracy is just getting in the way of the smart people.
Our republic, democracy is just too big an obstacle for our ruling class and for our elites.
And they're jealous of the CHICOMs, jealous of the authoritarian abilities of the Chikoms.
So the people, and I'm not sure I believe the poll, nearly three years after the financial system first came perilously close to collapse, American support for the, there's a word in here in this story that renders this actually meaningless, and I should have caught this, unregulated free market.
We don't have an unregulated free market.
We have never had an unregulated free market.
So the idea that there would be support for an unregulated free market that's very high that would crash is absurd anyway.
So once again, you have a poll here that is designed to depress you if you believe in capitalism.
But this is phony and bogus because nobody has ever said they are for totally unregulated capitalism or free markets.
We are very much against over-regulated and so forth.
But the point is that we are going in the complete other direction from a lot of communist countries.
And now your kids in school are being taught that capitalism is a bad thing.
There's another example of this from late 2009.
Russia was trying to woo hockey sniper Ilya Kobolchuk back home to the Continental Hockey League.
He signed with the New Jersey Devils.
And they were trying to get him home on the basis of their tax rates being far lower than in New Jersey and the United States.
But they tried.
Bloomberg, November 10, 2009, Alexander Medvedev, or Medvedev, who founded the 2014 league, said Russia's lower taxes on professional hockey players makes his clubs a more attractive choice for high-priced athletes currently in the National Hockey League, the world's top professional league.
And they did try to get Koblichuk.
So the rest of the world is dialing back communism or socialism.
Some of it is.
The Cubans obviously are not.
All right.
CNN says that Harry Reid is saying that they've come to an impasse.
Reed is saying that the number they've agreed to is $78 billion in cuts.
That's the number that they have agreed to.
Now, also, let me give you, we'll get on the spot as it happens, Reed, because I don't want to jip Harry Reed.
He was the most boring person in the world to listen to.
But he just said that nearly a million federal employees are on pins and needles waiting to find out about the shutdown.
They can't wait to find out if they're going to get another paid vacation or not.
Brazil has just elected a communist president, which is why Obama is so happy to help fund them, so eager to become dependent on them for our energy, because he's, you know, Obama likes communist leaders.
He envies them.
He openly envies them.
Salivates for the kind of power that Hu Zhintao has.
All right, I'm just going to tell you again, if that $78 million billion, $78 billion, that's what Dingy Harry says has been agreed to.
If it's lower than that, it's not going to be pretty out there in Tea Party land.
It is not going to be happy.
I think it's time that we all start thinking about what we want, what we require, not what the left demands, and then work off of that.
This entire debate's driven by the left.
We can't seem to get away.
Our party cannot seem to get away from being reactionary.
They set the rules, we react to it.
They set the premise, we deal with it.
It's got to be the other way around.
Harry Reid also, did he just say they said the law already prohibits funding for abortion.
No need for Republicans to deny funding to Title 10 Community Health Center.
So this is all about abortion.
It is all about abortion.
Everything that Reed's talking about, Klobuchar, all of these Democrats, Chuck Schumer, it is.
It is about abortion.
This party, the Democrat Party, will fund Planned Parenthood.
There's nothing that's going to stop them.
They will happily not fund salaries for military personnel.
They call that a distraction.
But you let something get in the way of funding for Planned Parenthood, and they will shut this government down.
Reid, the timeout, and we will continue right after this.
Don't go away.
Where are we going?
Mentor, Ohio.
Matt, you're next on Open Line Friday.
Welcome, sir.
Hello.
Hey, Rush, it's an honor to speak with you.
I love you.
My family loves you.
And you're the foundation of everything that I am.
Whoa, thank you very much, sir.
You're welcome.
I'm well-educated, well-researched.
And, you know, one of the questions I have, something that really frustrates me, is this smoke screen of Obama's birth.
Everybody's screaming about his birth certificate and all these other documents.
And, you know, it's all irrevocable.
His father was a loyal British subject at the time of his birth, and his mother was too young to qualify.
It's documented fact.
So I don't know why everybody is running around trying to prove any document he puts forward is a fraudulent document.
Well, I'll tell you why it's important.
There are two reasons why it's important.
Number one, he's got a grandmother, Aunt NKU, said that she saw him born there.
Number one.
Number two, aside from all of that, what Donald Trump is really doing, and as I pointed out yesterday, Donald Trump is providing a lesson on how to beat Barack Obama.
Donald Trump is showing that the way to do that, you go after these people, not just Obama, you go after the left.
You go after the Democrat Party.
You don't get timid.
You don't act defensive, and you don't act afraid.
You just go after them.
Look at poor old Meredith Vieira had no idea what to do with Trump.
You know, so you may look at what Trump's doing as an expose of the birth certificate.
I look at it as a lot more.
There's a lot more what Trump is accomplishing here than just raising questions about Obama's birth.
I don't think you really love me that much, Snerdley.
I think you got snookered.
I think that was a seminar caller.
I think you got taken in because you love me like that.
So anybody telling you that they love me like that, you fell for it.
And we just got, see, but I didn't get scammed.
I didn't get scammed.
Right.
Well, that's all right.
I mean, these kinds of things happen.
But, you know, that's why I'm here and you're on the other side of the glass screening the call.
Rick in Lubbock, Texas.
Welcome to the EIB Network.
Hello.
Hello there, Rush Limbaugh.
How are you today?
I'm fabulous, sir.
Thank you.
I moved here from Glen Burney, Maryland, a year ago.
I'm a longtime listener of your first-time caller.
First of all, I just want to say I do, I am very proud of what Donald Trump is doing about this, and you're absolutely right.
You've got to fight fire with fire.
Second of all, if the federal government were to shut down, I don't think any of these people on Capitol Hill should take a paycheck.
I think that ought to be put forth first and foremost.
And the other thing is, I saw a good special last night about Dick Morris.
He had a wonderful piece about this is wonderful ammunition for the far right.
If they can't hold the fire to the feet of these people right now, how are they going to do it for next year's $6.2 trillion deficit reduction?
Yeah, you know, Dick Morris is right about that.
Absolutely.
He's right about that.
Yeah, one last thing is, where are all the potential Republican candidates?
Why aren't these people stepping up and getting behind Paul Ryan?
Let's step up to the plate, make this thing happen, and stop feeling like a- You know, let me tell you something about that.
That's that's that is that is a great observation.
As I think I mentioned Monday, I spoke Monday morning to Congressman Ryan, and one of the things he felt really good about was that he felt this would be a great aid, his budget for whoever our nominee is, that this provides a blueprint.
This is Reaganomics.
This defines us again.
This is who we are.
This gets to the nub of it, not just fiscally, but morally.
You know, there's a moral component to Paul Ryan's budget, and it basically says if you're capable of taking care of yourself, it's time to do it.
If you're able to fend for yourself, it's time you did it.
There's clearly a moral component to the budget problem we've got.
Too many people otherwise capable of taking care of themselves think they're owed a living or a benefit here or a benefit there.
So I'm a little like you.
Where are the Republican nominees?
The ones who want to be the nominee.
Where are they embracing this?
And they're not.
You know, people don't understand this.
The conservative movement, the Republican Party, it's competitive like you can't believe.
People are vying to be considered the smartest people in the movement, smartest guy in the room, the most influential.
It's like high school within conservative media.
I guarantee.
Don't doubt me.
I'm in the middle of it.
It's like high school in the Republican Party with everybody trying to be considered a smart guy and the most influential and what have you.
And so there's probably a lot of people who say, well, I'm not going to take Ryan's idea.
I'm going to come up with my own.
I'm not going to make Ryan look bigger than I am.
Don't doubt me on that, and it's a shame.
All right, back to this birther business for just a second.
The Department of Health in Hawaii has verified that Obama's certificate of live birth is authentic, but it's not a birth certificate.
In addition, one of Obama's relatives, an aunt or grandmother, swears that he was born in Kenya and she saw it.
She was there at the birth.
Now, Trump's doing a lot of things, but what he's doing, I've been saying this all week.
What Trump's doing is giving a roadmap here.
He is showing the Republican Party how to deal with Obama, how to deal with the Democrat Party at large.
Now, even though the Department of Health in Hawaii has verified that Obama's certificate of live birth is authentic, incredible, the incredible thing here is that more than two years into Obama's regime, more than 40% of the population still question whether he's actually an American or not.
And don't think that it's all because of the birth certificate.
Folks, the reason so many people are questioning whether or not Obama is American is because of what he has said and what he has done.
Americans do not run around the world and apologize for their country.
Americans do not support and implement policies that cause people to lose their jobs.
Americans do not implement policies that raise the standard of living.
Americans do not institute policies that cause us to be more dependent on foreign oil.
So all this talking about the birth certificate being one of the things that the lack of one that's causing people to question where Obama's from, it's not just that.
Don't doubt me.
It's what he's done.
It's his agenda.
It's his policies.
In my case, you know, if we're going to sit around and discuss, do you think Obama's an American?
I don't even care about the birth certificate part of it.
I want to focus more on his policies in terms of answering and dealing with that question.
Now, this, you know, I mentioned this rogues gallery with all these Democrats standing together at Reed's press conference.
I noticed at one point while I was here hosting the program at the same time, Chuck Schumer was whispering in Reed's ear.
And I wondered what that was all about.
I have since found out and what it reporters are laughing, ladies and gentlemen, over the fact that Chuck Schumer had to whisper in Dingy Harry's ears and tell him the details of whatever has been agreed to up to this point, the details of the negotiations.
Chuck Schumer is whispering.
And we know this because the reporters are tweeting it.
They're not reporting it.
They are tweeting it.
And the reporters are asking themselves who's in charge.
But they're not asking on television.
They're not asking when they're doing their stand-up reports.
They're doing it on Twitter.
They would never question the Democrat leadership on the air.
But when they're, you know, their personal tweets, they're asking themselves, who's running this show?
Here's who's next, Linda in Evansville, Indiana.
Great to have you on the EIB network.
Hello.
Hi, Rush.
Love listening to you, and it's a thrill to be talking to you.
I want to make a comment on the Democrat Congresswoman going through security.
And the woman was so concerned about her birth control.
Yeah.
What should have been said to her was, try closing your legs.
That works.
And the taxpayers don't have to pay for that.
Yeah, it's kind of like abstinence.
You know, it works every time it's tried.
It certainly does.
Certainly does.
But see, you understand that won't work.
We are supposed to pay in the event the deputy sheriff did not close her legs.
And something's wrong there, too.
And it goes back to our liberal government and the people who are starting with the president on down.
Yeah, I know.
I'm hoping that we can get them all out and turn this country back to a Christian country, a God-fearing country where we can balance our budget and have people up there that have some common sense and some brains again.
Well, I love talking to you.
I'm glad you called.
I think I did all the talking and you haven't said much.
That's all right.
I needed a break.
I really did.
And you came in.
You rescued me.
That was perfect timing, Linda.
Glad you called.
I really am.
All right.
Let me get through some of the stuff here in the stack that I haven't got to.
Here's Sacramento B. California will spend $2 billion more per year on Medi-Cal when federal health care reform goes into full effect in 2016.
Now, we've all been told that Obamacare is going to lower costs, but there's a study from the RAND Corporation released this week to Californians.
You better prepare because health care costs under Obamacare are going to skyrocket $2 billion more per year, $4 billion per year by the year 2020.
Obamacare will force coverage for about 6 million Californians, raising the percentage of those covered to 96% from what is today 80%.
The study's authors and sponsors say that California and other states need to prepare for the costs and challenges that lie ahead in expanding coverage to more residents.
Now they tell us.
Now they tell us.
The Rand Corporation knew this before today.
The Sacramento Bee reporters knew this before today.
Everybody knew that you can't automatically insure 30 million more people and lower costs.
You just can't do it.
That's what they told us.
And now that the thing has been implemented, continues to be implemented, even after having been found unconstitutional, now they tell us.
Now here come the warnings.
From I Can't Believe This.
Paul Bedard at the U.S. News and World Report, he's got this column called Washington Whispers at U.S. News and World.
And this, this is stunning that he would report this, you know, because they're part of state control media.
Giving proof to Main Street's worries that Obama's health care reform will lead to thousands of new and costly regulations.
Folks, listen to this now.
The Department of Health and Human Services has taken one small section of Obamacare and written enough rules to cover every page of Obama's campaign book, The Audacity of Hope, plus another 45 pages.
The way to synthesize this.
Six pages of the Obamacare law have ended up as 429 pages of regulations.
Section 3022 of Obamacare, which is about the Medicare Shared Savings Program, takes just six pages in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
But Health and Human Services has turned those six pages into 429 pages of new regulations.
And Republican Senator John Barasso from Wyoming says that's too much.
Regulations increase the cost of doing business, he says.
He distributed a fact sheet on the book of regulations to follow Republicans this week, or to fellow Republicans.
Now, stop and think of this.
And this shouldn't be a surprise if you paid attention.
The phrase in the healthcare book, as the secretary shall determine, is littered throughout Obamacare.
So six pages in section 3022, six pages entitling or empowering the Health and Human Services Department, they have already written 429 pages, new pages of regulations out of six pages of the health care bill.
So what was a 2,200-page healthcare bill is now a 2,600-page health care bill.
And that's just from one section.
I want to say this again.
Six pages of section 3022 of Obamacare has permitted health and human services to create new regulations that require 429 pages to print.
That is the clearest illustration I have yet seen of what a bureaucracy is and how they grow, what happens to them, particularly when they are under the command of Democrats.
Dan Balls in the Washington Post shutdown threat tests Obama's leadership style.
Washington Post now, Dan Balls, state-controlled media wondering about Obama's leadership ability.
No, I don't care where you go, David Rodham, Gergen or anywhere.
They're all saying, I wish this guy get out in front of this instead of letting everybody else tackle this.
Wish he'd get out and wish he'd be the guy we thought he was.
Like so many wives end up saying.
Well, these guys are.
They're acting like disappointed wives.
Gosh, I wish this guy was who we thought he was when it comes to leadership.
I'll find the stuff that, oh, Al Gore is planning a Million Kid iMatter March to protest global warming.
Don't worry about it.
I guarantee if it's a gore event, there's going to be a blizzard or a tsunami.
There's going to be some sort of catastrophic weather event.
It'll get canceled.
Cybercast News Service, our buddies, CyberCast News Service, have an audio clip.
We're trying to track it down of Louise Slaughter.
Louise Slaughter, Democrat from New York.
She was at a women's rally yesterday.
So obviously, when you hear this, the talking points memo, the marching orders have gone out.
She said yesterday at this women's rally in 1994, people were elected simply to kill the National Endowment for the Arts.
Now they're here to kill women.
That's Louise Slaughter at a women's rally yesterday talking about the Republicans, the budget hassle and snafu.
1994, people elected simply to kill the NEA.
Now they're here to kill women.
We're talking here about pennies.
Don't you think if you want an abortion, pay for the damn thing yourself?
Don't make people who are opposed to it pay for it.
Where's this sense of entitlement?
Pay for it your damn self.
Pay for your birth control, too.
Yeah, slingshot.
Connie in Monroe, Louisiana.
Welcome to the EIB.
Never mind.
Connie, great to have you on Open Line Friday.
Hi.
Hi, Rush.
Don't dial anything back.
I'll help you rev it up.
Shut it down.
Shut the government down so that death can take a holiday.
You were just saying a while ago, abortions, abortions, abortion.
The Democratic Party, they want the government to continue to kill babies.
And the majority are black babies.
How can they say that they're for the poor and they're killing black babies?
I tell you something.
You know, we've expressed shock and disappointment about this.
You may have heard the previous shows.
We've looked at the abortion statistics in New York.
What is the, it's almost 60% of black pregnancies are aborted in New York City.
Exactly.
How can they stand there?
I saw Harry Reid a while ago.
How can they stand there?
And the lady at the airport talking about her birth control and all of this.
Well, when the birth control goes awry, the doctors are going in sucking out babies.
They're killing babies.
Yeah, and they're babies.
They're not sucking out dogs and cats.
They're babies.
And they're blaming us for it.
And it makes me sick the women that are standing up for this and they're cheering as if, yeah, take those babies out.
We got to go to work and be a man.
Forget that.
Motherhood, it's gone.
I don't even know what else to say, Rush.
First of all, let me give a shout out to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit because I prayed to them to get me through.
And the next thing I know, Snurtley was on the phone asking you to.
But anyway, let death take a holiday.
When the government is shut down, they can't be doing this.
And those abortion stops.
So let death take a holiday.
I hate to tell you, but death will not take a holiday if the government shuts down.
That's not going to stop them.
This is all just.
Nope.
You think that the government shuts down is going to keep people from having abortions?
If you think that's the case, you've got another thing coming.
Dare I, dare I, and by the way, these numbers, 60% of black, I think it's like 59 something, 59 point something of black pregnancies are aborted in New York City.
Those numbers are from the New York City Health Department, the Catholic Church.
They are not from some crank, wacko, pro-life site.
Non-Hispanic black, here it is, 59.8% abortion rate in New York City.
This shutdown is not going to stop the implementation of Obamacare.
But dare I observe something?
Who is it that's being aborted?
Liberals.
Liberal offspring, liberal Democrats, Democrats and liberals are Aborting themselves.
And at some point, you look at reproductive rates, replacement rates, and say, at some point down the line, there aren't going to be enough of them.
They're being aborted.
What?
I know, I know.
That's why we look south of the border to import the next generation so that abortion can continue.
All right.
On that note.
All right.
You notice the Libs are not talking about Social Security checks not going out.
They tried that about a week ago until it was figured out that Social Security checks will go out.
Military paychecks will not.
Obama has threatened to withhold military pay, but is demanding funding for abortions via Planned Parenthood.
If you wear the uniform, you know where you stand with this regime.
Have a wonderful weekend, folks, and we'll see you Monday.
