Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
I witnessed a bit of a phenomenon today.
I'm not sure.
And it's only anecdotal.
It only happened here at the EIB network.
I don't know if it happened elsewhere.
I don't know if it happened where you are.
Obama comes on to discuss voter registration.
Largest voter registration drive in history, amnesty, immigration, illegal.
And people stop what they were doing and huddled around the television sets.
Now, normally when Obama's on TV, you hit the mute button, and you keep walking or playing with your iPhone 4.
With this speech, people stopped and were glued to it and were outraged at what they were hearing.
Greetings, folks.
Rush Limbaugh, the EIB network, and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
Happy to have you here.
Telephone number 800-282-2882, the email address, Lrushbo at EIBNet.com.
Well, uh, the economies week.
You've seen the job numbers.
Get this for the first time in six months.
For the first time in six months, the federal employment report, unemployment report, to be released today shows a net loss of jobs.
But hold off on the panic button.
It's true that employers are expected to have cut more than a hundred thousand jobs in June, but that figure, if accurate, is deceptive.
It will reflect the end of up to 250,000 temporary census jobs.
A real focus Friday will be how many net jobs private employers created.
They're saying 13,000.
Yesterday was 13,000 for the month.
Today 13,000 for the day or for the week.
Uh whatever, it's stick it's statistically zero.
So why wasn't it deceptive when the jobs were added?
Why is it only deceptive when the jobs are now being blopped off?
AP.
Uh sorry, Reuters.
New claims for state unemployment aid unexpectedly rose.
Last week, heightening fears the U.S. economy recovery is stalling.
Uh CNN Money.com.
Couple months ago, recovery in the U.S. labor market seemed to be at hand.
That hope is proved as fleeting as a job with a Census Bureau.
The surge in hiring of census workers in May was responsible for virtually all of the 431,000 jobs created that month.
Really?
We all knew that.
Private sector employers who had added 218,000 jobs in April, added only 41,000 in May and 13,000 in June.
And that was mainly from temporary jobs.
Now they're cutting all the census people, the numbers look even worse.
They won't actually be worse because all the census did was falsely inflate them, but it's still going to look worse.
And Obama was just out there racing Wisconsin yesterday talking up the economy.
Day 10 of the summer of recovery.
So while all of this is going on, oh, and the signs of growing economic weakness isn't helping.
New homes under construction hit a record low in May, as did new home sales.
The end of a tax credit for home buyers raised fears of a new downturn in housing.
So what do we have here?
We have the economy is weak.
The stimulus bill and utter failure.
The Gulf cleanup is not cleaning up.
Bobby Gindle.
You know, we had a story yesterday about excuse me.
We had a story yesterday about how the Democrats are not letting Republicans go down to the Gulf.
Bobby Gendal is why.
In a roundabout way.
Bobby Gendal goes on the media and starts telling everybody, Ram Bam, thank you, ma'am, what's going on down there, what isn't being done, what is being done.
He doesn't need a teleprompter for it.
I mean, he is lickety split, and it is very clear from Bobby Gindle, who, by the way, 71% Rasmussen support Bobby Gendal.
It's amazing how leaders end up being supported.
Bobby Gendal is making the case that the federal response to this has been so botched and is so bad, and that's why the Democrats are using whatever mystical power they have to know what it is to keep Republicans from going down their uh elected Republicans and looking at the situation.
So the Gulf is an absolute criminal disaster.
Our policy in Iran is a joke.
The economy doesn't exist.
The only thing growing is Obama's ears, his nose, and federal employment.
The Gulf cleanup, there is none.
And what did he focus on today?
What does he come to us today on?
Illegal immigration.
Or voting rights for illegal immigrants in time for the 2012 election scheme.
You see, he does have priorities.
They're his and not ours.
They're his and not yours.
Now, he didn't get specific.
There wasn't a whole lot of specificity today.
It was a generalities speech, much like one would uh expect to be uh given during a campaign.
This was the setup today for what is to come later.
Why do you listen to this program?
Why do you listen?
I will explain why you listened to this program by going back to this program March 22nd this year.
This program, this is what I said.
The next big push will be amnesty for as many millions of illegal immigrants who are here.
Obama is going to need their votes in 2012.
The Democrats are gonna need their votes at every election from this day forward.
If down the road we have elections, and I'm not joking.
The Constitution has just been ripped to shreds.
So why is anything in it safe?
And I want you to hear how Obama's gonna sell this.
I want you to hear how Obama's gonna run around the country in these rallies.
Here's what he's going to say.
There are some people who don't like your skin color, who don't think you should be American.
He has come to divide.
He has come to conquer.
Is there anybody who now doubts what I meant when I said I hope he fails?
That's Barack Obama, or me talking about Obama and his next right after health care.
So here's the next big push.
March 22, 2010.
This morning at American University, Barack Obama.
The ink on our Constitution was barely dry when, amidst conflict, Congress passed the Alien and Sedition Acts, which placed harsh restrictions of those suspected of having foreign allegiances.
A century ago, immigrants from Ireland, Italy, Poland, other European countries were routinely subjected to rank discrimination and ugly stereotypes.
Chinese immigrants were held in detention and deported from Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay.
They didn't even get to come in.
The politics of who is and who is not allowed to enter this country, and on what terms has always been contentious.
And that remains true today.
Do I know this man?
Do I know this party?
Do I know the left or do I know him?
March 22.
Obama will play the race guard.
Here it is.
One hundred and one days later, and he comes up with practically every race and ethnicity you can conceive.
In talking about how they're all discriminated against by who?
Who does not mention here as being victims?
Yeah, me.
White people, particularly white guys.
We are the victimizers.
Here's Barack Obama telling a lie.
The Arizona law.
It's not just that the law Arizona passed is divisive, although it has spanned the flames of an already contentious debate.
Laws like Arizona's put huge pressures on local law enforcement to enforce rules that ultimately are unenforceable.
It puts pressure on already hard-strapped state and local budgets.
It makes it difficult for people here illegally to report crimes, driving a wedge between communities and law enforcement, making our streets more dangerous.
Why the jobs of our police officers more difficult?
These laws also have the potential of violating the rights of innocent American citizens and legal residents, making them subject to possible stops or questioning because of what they look like or how they sound.
As the race card again, 101 days after I predicted it, here is Obama...
They don't want you here because of what you look like or how you sound.
The Arizona law is practically word for word what the federal law is, which is not being enforced.
The Arizona law is not divisive.
It is attempting to secure the border of Arizona on Mexico because Obama will not do it.
He lied to this v center.
He said, our border has never been more secure now that he's in charge.
It puts pressure on already hard-strapped police and local budgets.
It makes it difficult for people here illegally to report crimes.
What?
The crimes they commit?
What are we talking about here?
People, we're worried about the people here illegally reporting crimes.
I know they're forced into the shadows.
Driving a wedge between communities and lawns.
The wedge is being driven by you, sir, between the American people and your regime.
It's relentless.
There's no stopping these people.
Amnesty, it's headed our way.
It is the largest voter registration drive in American history.
And in the midst of everything else falling apart, in the midst of everything else not working, what do you do?
You just throw more chaos and confusion into the mix, and you just frustrate people all to hell so that they have no idea what's up, what's down, whether they're coming or going.
Panic, chaos, tumult.
That's the prescription.
That's what this regime wants.
And they are getting it.
Obama says we cannot deport 11 million illegals.
Somebody, I don't know anybody who's saying we should.
But anyway, it's another straw man argument.
Here's what he said.
The majority of Americans are skeptical of a blanket amnesty.
They are also skeptical that it is possible to round up and deport 11 million people.
They know it's not possible.
It would tear at the very fabric of this nation.
Because immigrants who are here illegally are now intricately woven into that fabric.
Who are American citizens?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Even if it was possible.
A program of mass deportations would disrupt our economy and communities in ways that most Americans would find intolerable.
I just don't know what to say about this.
How can it be any more disrupted than it is?
You know, uh, ladies and gentlemen, uh Obama said the the borders are too vast to secure.
Whatever happened is yes we can business.
Whatever happened to all this stuff, yes we can.
Whatever happened to all that optimism, yes we can.
Now it's no we won't.
No, we can't.
The president of the United States can do whatever he wants with people from foreign nations in times of war, and we are in a time of war.
The alien act is still in effect.
If the Arizona law is unenforceable, as he says, then what's the problem?
Why even reference it?
If the Arizona law can't be enforced, then why even get your dander up about it?
I wonder if Obama's ever even been to Arizona.
Have you been to Arizona, Snurley?
Most of the people in Arizona, not all, but most of them look like Mexicans.
How in the hell can you possibly be profiled?
The law does not allow profiling anyway.
Another lie and myth that is being told.
Where in the United States is it impossible to report a crime without giving your ID?
I mean, I you call 911.
You call 911, they don't ask you for your ID, don't have your driver's license number.
What is they will in Arizona?
Well, what is this is this is all absurd.
New York City has a campaign right now that reminding everybody you don't need to give any information about yourself to report a crime.
Now it was possible for 11, I don't believe the number, it gets a little higher.
It was possible for 11 million illegals to come here.
Why is it impossible for them to leave?
Anyway, you see what's going on here.
This is we got the Kagan hearings, and that's a disaster.
I mean, this this woman's no more qualified to be on the court.
She's an Obama rubber stamp, but there's nothing going to stop her.
That's all going on.
Well, this is happening.
This is this is, I mean, purposely stirring the pot.
Purposely agitating.
Even if it was a speech of nothing but generalities, it sets the stage for what comes next.
Well, the real purpose of the speech today.
For those of you who say, well, you're getting so upset about Russia, done a bunch of Pablum and whatnot any specifics.
No, no, no.
You're right.
There weren't a whole lot of specifics, but it set the stage for Obama to once again portray to the Hispanic voters in this country that only he and a Democrat Party is on their side.
I gotta run, but we'll be right back before you know it.
Don't go away.
You know the weekend coming up.
You know what it is?
Dependence Day weekend.
It's not Independence Day weekend, not with this regime.
This is Dependence Day weekend coming up.
Obama takes to the microphone to further royal and divide this culture and this society on the anniversary of this nation's independence.
Anyone who wants to tell me that any aspect of the destruction being wrought by this regime is not purposeful, is simply accidental.
Don't even try it.
I'm not open for persuasion on this.
Obama wants to create an illegal alien bill of rights.
That's the only way to look at this.
He always wants to expand everyone's rights.
Illegal aliens, terrorists, Russian spies, except American citizens.
Somehow our rights are to be infringed upon.
All you have to do, you know, I'm gonna change my mind on something here, Mike.
Grab grab audio sound bite.
I'm all over the place here.
What number is?
It's Kagan.
Um I think it's number three, but I don't have the transcript in front of me here.
This is just it's it's absolutely what did I put it?
Uh it is a number three.
Yeah, here play this.
This is a it's a it's a it's a question from Tom Coburn.
Uh yesterday he asked her about the uh the whole business of uh here it is, here it is.
Okay.
She's not sure.
She is not sure on the declaration of independence.
Yesterday, Tom Coburn, Republican Oklahoma, do you agree that the natural right of resistance and self-preservation, the right of having and using arms for self-preservation and defense.
I didn't say that was a constitutional right.
He said it's a natural right.
Senator Coburn, to be honest with you, I I don't have a view of what are natural rights independent of the Constitution.
And my job as a justice will be to enforce and defend the Constitution and other laws of the United States.
So you wouldn't embrace what the Declaration of Independence says, that we have certain God-given inalienable rights that aren't given in the Constitution, that they're ours, ours alone, and that a government doesn't give those to us?
Senator Coben, I believe that the Constitution is an extraordinary document.
And I'm not saying I do not believe that there are rights pre-existing, the Constitution and the laws, but my job as a justice is to enforce the Constitution and the laws.
And to hell with a declaration of independence.
We are all in she she she basically is just throwing the whole concept of natural law down the toilet and flushing it.
She is throwing the Constitution down the toilet.
We are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
She was asked if she believes that.
And she essentially said she's not sure.
She wouldn't even commit to the idea that human beings possess certain inalienable rights pre existing the U.S. Constitution.
And that is the best person Obama could find to become the next Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
He is now removed with this speech today, and everything else going on, Obama has not removed any doubt that the interest of foreign nationals takes priority over that of American citizens.
He may as well call what he's doing here the inalien illegal alien bill of rights.
He also cited Emma Lazarus today and her poem, and like most leftists do, he totally lied about it, misrepresented it, its relationship to and its location on the Statue of Liberty.
Lots still ahead, and your phone calls are coming up as well right after this brief obscene profit timeout.
Your guiding light, El Rush Ball, serving humanity, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.
800-282-2882.
Tom Corbin was incredulous that Elena Kagan would not even comment on the concept of natural rights, natural law, inalienable rights.
So he said, Look, I understand what you're saying at the justice, you're going to do this and do that, but I'm not talking to you as a justice here.
I'm talking about Elena Kagan.
What do you believe?
Are there in alien inalienable rights for us?
Do you believe that?
Senator Coobin, I think that the question of what I believe as to what people's rights are outside the Constitution and the laws, that you should not want me to act in any way on the basis of such a belief.
If I had one, I would want you to always act on the basis of the belief of what our declaration of independence says.
I think you should want me to act on the basis of law.
And uh, and and that is what I have upheld to do, if I'm fortunate enough to be confirmed, is to act on the basis of law, which is the Constitutions and the statutes of the United States.
Now, yesterday I was uh made fun of on CNN or the day before, because I uh said she's holding back on her true desires of uh looking at the Constitution, looking at it as immoral and unjust and wanting to change it.
And well, of course, nobody could get confirmed if they said that, John King and his guests said, Well, here this woman is disavowing the Declaration of Independence.
Now, I know the Declaration of Independence is not law, but the Declaration of Independence defines us as a people.
One of the reasons why this is one of the greatest countries on earth is the Constitution, the founding documents, all of them, including the Declaration.
We are all endowed by our Creator, certain inalienable rights, among them life, liberty, pursuit of happiness.
If the government, whatever branch will not stand for those things, who will?
Abraham Lincoln, who freed the slaves, held the declaration above even the Constitution, its ideals, at least.
So it makes sense that those who seek to re-enslave us, loosely defined, would feel the opposite way.
They've convinced themselves that there is a living, breathing Constitution, which means there's no Constitution at all.
The Constitution is what they want it to be at any given moment.
So in alien inalienable rights, an absolute guaranteed by God, no less, they find threatening.
And we're about to put somebody who obviously holds this view on the United States Supreme Court.
I wonder if Elena Kagan would agree that all human beings have an inalienable right to live in the United States and become U.S. citizens.
Obama clearly does.
Obama vomited the cliche line.
These people are only seeking a better life.
The implication was they're only seeking a better life.
Who are we to tell them they Can't have a better life.
So I guess the people coming here illegally, they got all kinds of rights, and we're going to make sure that they are enshrined somewhere.
In the process, the natural rights and conferred rights of American citizens are going to take a hit.
Administered by this administration.
Another portion of his remarks this morning at American University, talking about setting the stage for amnesty, illegal immigration, voter registration drive on our nation's Dependence Day weekend.
Contrary to some of the reports that you see, crime along the border is down.
And statistics collected by Customs and Border Protection reflect a significant reduction in the number of people trying to cross the border illegally.
So the bottom line is this.
The southern border is more secure today than at any time in the past 20 years.
What do we have here?
This man's fit for the psycho war today.
Why is Arizona doing what it's doing then?
Oh, course, see, this fits the yeah, they're a bunch of racists in Arizona.
I forgot.
That's right, they're a bunch of racists.
Because the southern border is more secure now that the one is in charge than it's been in 20 years.
Fewer people are crossing.
You know, in a in a in a uh uh small slice of reality that may be true in Arizona because of the law, which will not be implemented until next month anyway.
But we have seen stories that illegals are leaving Arizona.
But we all know the people trying to get it.
We all know what's happening with the coyotes and the and the and the drug runners and all this.
It's just, and to have the president of the United States to lie to the American people and say that the border is more secure than at any time in the past 20 years.
If that's the case, why are so many Americans so zeroed in on this issue?
And what will be their reaction when they hear the president say this.
Abraham Lincoln, many Supreme Court justices, many others, have said the Declaration of Independence has the force of law because it defines natural law.
One of the only nations to embody our founding with such documents, and they're under assault.
Now, Obama did something else today in this speech that the left always does when they bring up the Statue of Liberty and Emma Lazarus.
Give me your tired, give me your poor, give me your huddled masses, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
That has been reinterpreted over the years.
First, most people think that that's part of the design and construction of the Statue of Liberty, which it's not.
I will splain in a moment.
They also have told us that what Emma Lazarus meant was give us your downtrodden, give us your disadvantaged, give us your poor, give us your wretches, and we will take them in, and we will help them.
And that's not what it was all about.
It was about the United States being a home to those fleeing oppression, not poverty per se.
He even had the audacity to say that Emma Lazarus devoted her life to health care.
Now here's the story about all this.
The the the Emma Lazarus poem, I mean you're tired, you're poor, you're hungry, huddled masses, blah, blah, blah.
Does not and never has appeared on the Statue of Liberty.
It was a poem written in a contest to raise money to build the pedestal for the Statue of Liberty.
It was not even put on display inside the exhibit, inside the pedestal, until years later.
It was written in 1883.
In 1903, 20 years later, it was enraved on a bronze plaque and mounted inside the Statue of Liberty.
You don't go to the Statue of Liberty, wander around outside and see the new Colossus as part of the design on the outside of the Statue of Liberty.
The poem was written as a donation to an auction of art and literary works conducted by the Art Loan Fund Exhibition in aid of the Bartholdy Pedestal Fund for the Statue of Liberty.
The purpose was to raise money for the pedestal's construction.
The contribution was solicited by the fundraiser William Maxwell Everts.
Emma Lazarus initially refused, but Constance Carey Harrison convinced her that the statue would be of great significance to immigrants sailing into the harbor.
Now the new colossus was the only entry read at the exhibit's opening, but it was forgotten.
It played no role at the opening of the statue in 1886.
In 1901, Emma Lazarus' friend Georgina Schuyler began an effort to memorialize Emma Lazarus in her poem, which succeeded in 1903 when a plaque bearing the text of the poem was mounted on the inner wall of the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.
The Statue of Liberty was never meant to be a symbol of immigration.
It was meant to be a symbol of liberty and freedom.
The Statue of Liberty, as designed and constructed, had nothing to do with what Emma Lazarus wrote, and it's another distortion of the left to suggest that this country was founded for the express purpose of taking anybody, anywhere, any planet, any country, who wanted to come into the country.
Under the guise that they were poor, they were huddled, they were hungry, they were thirsty.
It was not about immigration at all.
It was about liberty.
They don't call it the Statue of Immigration.
They call it, we call it, the Statue of Liberty.
It was dedicated October 28, 1886.
books.
It is a monument commemorating the centennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which Elena Kagan, yesterday in her testimony said, pfft, it's irrelevant to me when I look at the law.
And yet here's her president, citing Emma Lazarus as though it's part of the Statue of Immigration.
It's the Statue of Liberty.
Nothing to do with immigration.
It commemorated the Declaration of Independence.
The French did it.
So profound did everyone in the world think the Declaration was.
And in fact, Abraham Lincoln often gave it more weight than the Constitution itself.
In terms of its deep meaning.
Lady Liberty is stepping forward.
She is meant to be carrying the tortured liberty from the United States to the rest of the world.
The torch is not to light the way to the United States.
It is to light the way to liberty to the rest of the world.
Lady Liberty is carrying the light of liberty to the rest of the world.
It is not a beacon for immigrants to get to this country because they're tired, they're poor, they're huddled, hungry, or thirsty.
The President of the United States has joined the chorus of those who has purposely misrepresenting the Statue of Liberty, making it out to be the Statue of Immigration, misrepresenting Emma Lazarus, and it's just an outrage how wantonly open the destruction and revision and redefinition of the great traditions and institutions that define this country.
It's taking place now at the hands of this regime.
I have to go.
I wish I didn't have to go, because I'm on such a roll.
But it'll continue after we get back.
What is it effeminazis used to shout all the time?
I am a rake!
I am outraged by I am outraged by what President Obama did today in this speech.
The Statue of Liberty carries the light of liberty to the rest of the world.
It does not welcome the wretches of the world, this country.
That's not its purpose.
It was never intended as that purpose.
It doesn't light the way to this country.
It spreads, lights liberty everywhere around the world.
That Obama would lie about the Statue of Liberty on the its devotion.
It was a it was given to us as a gift to honor the Declaration of Independence, that he would take the Declaration of Independence and its weekend, the independence of this country, to make a speech on immigration and lie about the Declaration, and the day after, or the day before his Supreme Court nominee disavows the Declaration of Independence, disavows the concept of natural law and inalienable rights.
Anybody still want to tell me that this is not being done on purpose?
Unlike Elena Kagan, Abraham Lincoln insisted the declaration is the statement of principles through which the Constitution should be interpreted.
Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves.
Abraham Lincoln was certainly more of a student of law than Miss Kagan ever has been, even if he never had a job at Harvard.
The Declaration and the Constitution are inseparable, not only in terms of defining this country, but maintaining it.
And we have somebody who is intellectually vapid, disavowing it, afraid to take a stand on the concept of inalienable rights.
A couple days before our own Independence Day, Emma Lazarus, by the way.
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.
She was a huge proponent of Zionism.
She was a rabid supporter of the creation of the State of Israel.
It's funny how the left never brings her up when they're talking about the Middle East.
But Emma Lazareth, huge supporter of the creation of Israel.
Huge proponent of Zionism.
So they'll selectively cite Emma Lazarus, Lazarus, when they take her words totally out of meaning and the purpose of her words totally out of meaning.
Now, if we are, as Obama said today, citing the Statue of Liberty as a light, as a beacon, as a GPS signal to the wretches of the world to come to America if we are soliciting the world's hulled masses to come to this country, why have any immigration laws at all?
Why have a border?
Let them just show up.
Why have any limits whatsoever?
See, Obama's propaganda is arguing for no limits on legal or illegal immigration.
I take it back.
He said the best and brightest, we need them here.
We are specifically keeping the best and brightest out.
It is the dumb and dumbest that we are letting in.
Let me rephrase that.
It is the ill-educated and the uneducated we are letting in.
The visas, college graduates, PhDs, you name it from all over the world, they are limited.
A number of people of that caliber, severely limited and tightly controlled.
Now he claims the border is more secure than ever.
As if he has done something to create that circumstance.
He's done nothing.
Even the additional 1,200 National Guardsmen.
They're not free to prevent illegals from coming here.
So he lies by claiming we're more secure than ever when he hasn't done anything to promote security about securing the border.
Then he argues with his false references that we want the world's poor to come here.
And that's what the Statue of Liberty means.
So the bastardization Of the Statue of Liberty, the Declaration of Independence, and indeed the country took place in about 35 minutes this morning, coming out of the mouth of the president of the United States.
I got a question about Al Gore and the massage therapist.
The National Enquirer will not drop the story.
What happens if there is a consensus that Al Gore assaulted the massage therapist?
Should we say then that the debate is over and declare him guilty?
What if there's a consensus on this?
I mean, using his own reasoning, if there's a consensus, he'd be a potential threat that has to be stopped.
Right?
Yeah, what's that?
If there's a consensus that he did it, then he did it, right?
