Time Text
America's real anchor man, a doctor of democracy and America's truth detector.
I am Rush Limbaugh and this is the Rush Limbaugh program, the EIB network, growing by leaps and bounds.
Happy to have you along with us.
Here's the telephone number, 800-282-2882, the email address, lrushbow at EIBnet.com.
I was not kidding.
San Antonio's CBS affiliate, Eyeball News 5.
Rosemary Benitez thought it was a joke at first.
She was told that her store was going to need a food permit in order to stay in business, but she doesn't own a restaurant.
She owns the Shades of Love lingerie store on West Bitters Road.
That would be B-I-T-T-E-R-S Road.
Shades of Love sells racy lingerie, high-heeled shoes, adult toys, and items meant to enhance a couple's sex life.
However, some of those items...
Are kids out of school yet?
Dawn, the kids are not out of school yet, so I don't have to worry about mommy, mommy, what?
Mommy, what?
What?
What is edible underwear?
I'm really trying to avoid that here.
But it is.
Shades of Love sells racy lingerie.
Some of the items are edible, which is why the San Antonio Health Department ruled that they need a food permit.
The permit costs $230 a year, and it means that the store is subject to regular health inspections.
Benitez says, doesn't matter, snurdly, if you don't swallow it's still in your mouth.
Benitez says everything is sold as a novelty.
Everything in the box says novelty item only.
It's not something you sit down and actually eat.
It's more for tasting.
It's more for tasting and licking.
Edible?
No, it's not going to fill you up.
San Antonio, Texas Sanitarian Services Manager Stephen Barszewski said any facility in the city of San Antonio that sells edible substance requires a food establishment permit.
One, it's the law.
Two, in case there's a recall, we certainly want to know the source.
A recall of edible underwear?
Wait until the mayor of New York hears about this.
Wait until Bloomberg hears about this.
You think he'll demand to know the salt content of the edible underwear?
You think he'll demand to know if any trans fats have been used?
San Antonio's Eyeball News 5 has also learned that other stores like Dillard's Department Store, several auto parts stores, also require to have food permits because they sell chocolate bars.
But not edible panties.
You know, I've checked the email here during the break, ladies and gentlemen, and the libs are out.
You know, Limbaugh, it was a very clever analysis you have there on Pennsylvania 12.
Very clever, but why don't you just realize that your days are over, Limbaugh?
You've had your 20 years and you're finished.
It's over.
Let me just tell you something.
The bottom line here is, folks, we have won the battle of ideas in this country.
And I want you to be confident of that.
We have won the battle of ideas.
Liberalism is dead.
Americanism, a conservative ascendancy, is alive.
Liberalism is dead.
That is why the liberals have to lie about who they are.
They have to keep Obama in the closet.
Obama has something that can't come out.
At election time, folks, this is key.
This is a salient point.
They have to keep Obama away from any Democrat running for reelection.
He's in the closet.
If November, if the elections in November are about issues, we are going to win big.
So what the Democrats and Obama will try to do is run on anything but the issues, anything but the truth.
So expect them to continue doing what they've been doing.
They will lie.
They will continue to talk about Bush.
They will try to divert people's attention.
The problem is, I know some of you are saying, what do you mean, Rush?
Liberalism's dead.
Sit with me on this.
The problem is that while liberalism is dead with the people, it is the ideology of the elites who run the media, who run the schools, and who run the federal government.
It remains a minority body of thought.
However, powerful forces in this country are liberal, and they are having to lie about who they are.
This is the problem that we are trying to address now and in November.
They just control a lot of institutions, but they are not the people.
Remember now, liberals disdain people.
Liberals hold average Americans in contempt, precisely because they're not elitists.
They don't have pedigrees, educational pedigrees, geographical pedigrees, familial, ancestral pedigrees.
And as such, they're the great unwashed, untrustworthy, stupid, idiot.
Need to be taken care of.
I want to go back to this soundbite again.
And we hustled this in in the previous hour.
The audio here is Ethernet.
There's a lot of reverb on this.
It's Silver Springs, Maryland, an unidentified second grader at an elementary school asking a question of the first lady, Michelle Mybel Obama.
My mom said that Barack Obama's taking everybody to land that doesn't have some papers.
Yeah, well, that's something that we have to work on, right?
To make sure that people can be here with the right kind of papers, right?
That's exactly right.
Yeah, well, we have to work on that.
We have to fix that.
And everybody's got to work together in Congress to make sure that that happens.
Did Michelle hear what the little girl said?
The little girl said, my mom said that Barack Obama is taking away everybody does have your papers.
The little girl said to Michelle, it's your husband that my mom says is taking away anybody that have her papers.
Not the people of Arizona.
And Michelle, who probably didn't want to be there, you got to be there.
I mean, Felipe Colerona is in town.
She's got to get out of the White House at some point.
See, Barack can have it for his purpose.
He's got to be there tonight for the dinner anyway.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's something we have to work on, right?
To make sure that people can be here with the right kind of papers, right?
That's exactly right.
Yeah, well, we'll have to work on that.
We have to fix that.
Everybody has to work together in Congress to make sure that happens.
Everybody has to work together in Congress to make that happen.
Demand for loans to buy U.S. homes shriveled to a 13-year low last week following the expiration of federal tax credits.
While a near-record low mortgage rate stoked refinancing, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association today, requests for home purchase loans have fallen almost 20% over the past month despite low borrowing costs.
And that's because of the expiration of that $8,000 federal tax credit.
Low borrowing costs and stabilizing home prices are being offset by near double-digit U.S. unemployment and a looming supply of foreclosed properties yet to hit the market.
The worst of the housing crisis is over.
Who's writing this?
Reuters.
But recovery will be long and slow, most economists say.
Who didn't expect this to happen?
We've all known it was going to happen when the tax credits expired.
Yet it's a headlined story.
Get this from Lawrenceville, Georgia.
The headline says it all.
Workers asked to return bonuses after 16 years.
About 180 county employees in suburban Atlanta are being asked to return thousands of dollars the county says they were overpaid 16 years ago.
Gwinnett County's chief financial officer, Aaron Bovos, calls it a project to clean up receivables and to eliminate outstanding obligations.
The county is seeking to collect more than $39,000 from employees who receive bonuses in their paychecks in 1994.
Authorities blame the overpayments on a payroll anomaly.
When the county adjusted employees' payroll cycles, employees can apply the money to vacation leave or make a cash payment.
So they're going to take it out of your vacation if you live there, work there, or you can pay them back.
Insurgents launched a brazen pre-dawn assault today against the giant U.S.-run Bagram airfield in Kabul.
Well, it's in Bagram, Afghanistan, just outside Kabul, killing an American contractor, wounding nine troops in the second Taliban strike at NATO forces in and around the capital in as many days.
There is also a report today.
Honest to God, that the administration, I'm looking for it even now.
It's a little blurb at National Review Online.
The administration is seeking moderate members of Hezbollah and Hamas to reach out to moderate, I kid you, moderate terrorists, moderate anti-Semites.
Well, I don't, there's no such thing, Sterling.
That's the whole point.
Here it is.
That's the whole point.
I guess they're fiscally responsible and moderate.
They probably are pro-choice.
Look, all you got to do to be a moderate is be for abortion.
And you could be a moderate anywhere in the world.
Here's the blurb.
This is an actual news story from Reuters.
The Obama administration looking for ways to build up moderate elements within the Lebanese Hezbollah guerrilla movement and to diminish the influence of hardliners.
A top White House official said Tuesday.
Why not just kill them?
What is this?
Reaching out to moderate Hezbollah members as a means of overpowering the hardliners?
This is John Brennan, this wacko terror guy in the administration.
He said, Hezbollah is a very interesting organization, citing its evolution from purely a terrorist group to a militia to an organization that now has members within the parliament and the cabinet.
There is certainly the element of Hezbollah that are only truly a concern to us what they're doing.
And what we need to do is find ways to diminish their influence within the organization and try to build up the more moderate elements.
That's like saying, let's go find the moderate elements of al-Qaeda.
We go out and we'll find the moderate al-Qaeda terrorists, and we build them up, and we'll build them schools, and we'll educate their kids.
We'll send them Snickers, whatever it is they want, and they'll get rid of bin Laden for us.
That's how we overcome the hardline elements of al-Qaeda.
This administration is full of genuinely stupid or insane people.
The real world escapes them.
Their vision that there are moderate.
When's the last time you ever heard Obama or anybody in his regime express the desire to reach out to moderate elements of the talk show community or to moderate elements of the conservative movement or moderate elements of the Republican Party?
No, we're going to find the moderate elements of Hezbollah.
And in so doing, we'll marginalize the hardliners.
Geez, you kill them.
They are the enemy.
I guess they're not the enemy, though, now.
Not to this regime.
We'll be back.
Sad news out of Kansas City today.
And this is really puzzling.
Well, no, it's not puzzling, but it's interesting.
H ⁇ R Block, our headquarters is Kansas City.
H ⁇ R Block said Wednesday it'll trim 400 jobs and has shut 400 underperforming locations as it seeks to reduce its costs.
Now, H ⁇ R Block helps people file their taxes.
What does this mean?
It must be fewer people filing taxes, returns, for whatever reason.
I mean, I would think one thing that would never suffer is the income tax preparation industry.
No matter how simple or complicated your return is, you can't do it yourself mostly.
They have 11,000 stores, H ⁇ R Block does, and they're cutting 400 jobs and shutting 400 stores.
All right, back to the phones, Orange County, California.
Hi, Bob.
Great to have you on the program.
Thanks for taking my call.
Yes, sir.
Hey, listen, you've been talking about the market.
I'm in real estate, and I've been doing the market evaluations for about 32 different banks over the last 14 years.
And we've just gone through the first phase of these foreclosures, which I call a heartbeat loan.
So if you had a heartbeat, you could get a loan.
Those have been pretty much absorbed now by the investors coming back in and buying them up.
But we have a whole second phase of foreclosures coming that the banks aren't really talking about.
And these are the million-dollar homes.
And there's a lot of them out there.
Million-dollar homes.
Yeah, million-dollar.
These are people that have lost their job that are struggling to try and stay ahead of the game.
But what's going to end up happening is, you know, they just passed this law now where a lot of the people weren't going to sell their homes or try and get out from underneath them because of the tax ramifications, because whatever they would have lost, they would have got back as a 1099.
And so what's happening now is they've waived that, and they're now doing what's called a deed in lieu of foreclosure.
So now they don't even have to sell their homes.
They can just walk in and say, I'm out of here.
So the banks are going to get back tremendous amount of these properties that they're not talking about right now.
And we're talking about where they lost maybe a couple hundred thousand dollars before.
They're going to lose a lot more, maybe five, maybe three times, five times greater than what we just went through.
That's the next phase that we're going to come into.
And I think Obama's going to end up owning these banks eventually because they're not going to be able to recover from this one.
Please, no.
God say, that's not, oh, geez.
See, that's why all of this, that's why Fannie Mayor is going to be a business.
It can't be coincidental.
It has to be on purpose.
So you're predicting a second bubble in the housing market.
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
And these are the white-collar workers, Rush.
You're not going to hear too much about them because they're more sophisticated.
These are the kind of people that tick themselves up, dust themselves off, and start all over again.
But it's coming.
I do several hundred evaluations a month for 32 different banks.
And I'm telling you, I see a lot of this.
They try to do the loan modifications and stuff, but they're not going to pay interest on equity that doesn't exist anymore.
And they would just as soon buy the short sale down the street than try to pay interest on something on equity that doesn't exist anymore.
But the banks are going to get these back no matter what they do.
Even if they negotiate, they're still going to get them back.
The best thing they could do is do the deed in lieu of foreclosure, take the property back, get it back before it gets damaged or vandalized.
But they're still going to have to drop down to market evaluation.
And now what do they do?
What are they going to do with all these houses that they get back?
Well, what they do in Detroit.
They're bulldozing 10,000 of them right now.
So, I mean, that's a possibility.
Well, now, wait a minute.
I know they're bulldozing houses, 10,000, but those are not all foreclosed, are they?
No, no, no.
What they're going to do is they're going to have to come down to market value.
They're going to have to come down to, I mean, I did a house.
They're below market value is the problem.
Well, I did a house the other day.
It was $8.2 million with the guy paid for it.
It's worth about $2.6 million.
Now, who's going to eat that $6 million?
The bank is.
Because that guy's just going to walk away from this house and say, I can't afford it.
The value is $2.6.
I owe 8.
I'm out of here.
Well, you know, in the old days, when you walked out on something, you paid a consequence for it.
But today, you can find stories in the state-controlled media instructing you how to walk out on a mortgage or walk out on a loan commitment as a virtuous thing to do.
They're waiving it now.
The IRS is waiving the difference between what would be considered a 10, which you would get in the difference as a 1099.
They've been waiving those now so that people don't have ⁇ that's what stopped this big market from happening right away, is that people are going, look, if I got a $400,000 difference and I'm going to eat that as a $1099, I don't want to sell my house right now because I can't afford to pay taxes on $400,000.
But now if they waive these things, which is what they're talking about, waive this discrimination or this discrepancy, that's going to happen.
And there's no ramifications now.
They just walk away.
The bank gets all these properties back and they're getting them back by the zillions.
Right.
Okay, then I'm going to make you a prediction.
If what, this is if, this is a contingency prediction based on what you've said.
If what you said happens and there literally are thousands and thousands of homes repossessed by banks that they don't want and they can't afford to carry, then yeah, either the government is going to buy the homes and put poor people in them or they're going to buy the banks.
Remember now, everybody is entitled to a home.
We're going to return the nation's wealth to its rightful owners.
Don't doubt me, folks.
It's a big if, but it's possible.
You know, this Blomenthal guy, I've been looking at him more and more.
This guy looks like the kind of guy that sleeps in his coat and tie.
And he wakes up and his hair is not messed up.
He looks like the kind of guy that goes swimming in his coat and tie.
He looks like the kind of guy like Elliot Spitzer has sex with his socks on in the sack.
Just one of these not real, these artificial kind of guys.
Welcome back, folks.
Rush Limbaugh here at the EIB Network.
I checked the email during the break.
A lot of people didn't understand what this last call was about.
The guy was talking fast, talking about 1099 is where it comes into play.
Now, let me see if I can, because we're up against on time going into the break there.
It is truly an agenda item of ACORN to put poor people in foreclosed homes.
In fact, it's called deed in lieu of foreclosure.
Have you heard of that?
You've heard of this.
Now, the way it's, you just give them the deed.
You don't foreclose on the property at all.
You just give them the deed.
Now, here's how it works.
Look, best as I can tell, it looks like the only requirement to get a deed in lieu of foreclosure is that the outstanding amount owed is equal to the value of the house on the market.
In other words, you couldn't give a deed in lieu of foreclosure if what's owed is far more than what the value of the house is.
And that's going to be the case in a lot of instances because a lot of homeowners and houses are underwater.
But if that circumstance is met, then the banks theoretically can do it.
But it's a voluntary thing on both sides.
There's no federal law requiring it.
It's just, you know, it's an idea that's been put forth by ACORN and other community organizer groups oriented around the notion that it's just not fair that some people have million dollar or more expensive houses and other people don't.
And the way to take care of this is when these rich people walk out on their houses because they can't afford them anymore.
It's only fair to give them to poor people.
Give them the dude a deed in lieu of foreclosure.
Certain specifics have to be met, but it is voluntary.
I think now, I think the 1099 comes into play because the borrower has to pay taxes on the remaining debt on the mortgage, and the government has to get their cut.
And a 1099 is a tax form.
It's like a W-2 where nothing's been deducted.
It's just a report of income, and you have to pay the taxes on it.
1099 gets sent to the IRS and it's sent to you.
The actual title of the form is Acquisition or Abandonment of Secured Property.
The bank gets the deed in lieu of foreclosure, but then can throw somebody in there if they want.
The important thing to remember about this is that there is an agenda item on the part of the radical left for this to happen.
You should have seen Snurdley's face when I was talking to the guy on the phone.
I said, well, no, no, no.
They're just going to give the houses to the poor.
Snurdley rolled his eyes.
Yeah, you're just going.
You're exaggerating again.
No, no, no.
When it comes to this administration and the radical left, it's really hard to exaggerate who they are.
It's really hard to exaggerate what they believe unless you know what a liberal and a leftist really is today.
If you understand the anger that motivates them, if you understand the frustration and the genuine rage that animates these people, and the rage and the anger is at capitalism, at America as founded, and at the people in this country who have achieved in the capitalist system.
Because the leftist believes that the game is rigged and that the achievers are part of a club, that they protect each other and take care of each other, and they keep everybody else out.
And the people they keep out are minorities and people of color and certain sexual orientations and genders and so forth.
They genuinely believe this.
And they have told their people as they've been born and raised, if you're female, if you're a minority, if you're a person of color, if you're gay, that club over there is not going to let you in.
And look at what they have.
They have Wall Street and they have the corporate jets.
And look at the houses they have.
They got four or five houses.
You're never going to get in there.
And this is, and then they've got their race maiders that come along, like the Reverend Jackson and Repton Sharpton, tell them this, and reinforced.
And you got La Raza that says the same thing.
And you have Acorn, which tells its charges the same thing.
And so the objective becomes to get even.
To get even with this outrage called capitalism.
These people are not taught that the game is open to anybody.
And all that's required is industriousness.
You know, the usual things that accompany achievement and success.
Passion, devotion, knowing what you want, knowing what you love, and working hard for it.
These people are told none of that's going to get you anywhere.
That's all a lie.
Even if you do all that, they're not going to pay you as they pay each other.
Even if you do every bit, you work as hard.
The only people are going to let in are going to be Uncle Tom's.
The only people are going to let in our people just to make it look like they're diverse.
This is what they really think, folks.
It's what they truly believe.
And they follow that by saying the only way to make everything equal in terms of outcome here is to give these people in the capitalist club a kick in the teeth and a taste of their own medicine.
So hello, crumbling economy.
As far as the left is concerned, it's already bad for everybody but the rich.
It's already bad for the middle class.
It's already bad in America as it normally is.
It's bad for everybody who's not in the capitalist club.
It just isn't fair.
So all of this economic damage being done now, it's not any worse than what the downtrodden feel every day.
In their view, what they're doing now is trying to bring the misery and the suffering that they think exists throughout this country to the precious few who have gamed the system.
That's why Goldman Sachs, Wall Street, AIG, that's why they are the enemy.
That's why conservatives are the enemy.
That's why people who are oriented toward the founding of the country and freedom and liberty are the enemy.
Because they stand in the way of this balancing that the radical left thinks must happen.
Now you're saying to yourself, but Rush, can't they look around the world and see this has never worked?
Yeah, they can.
They do.
What they tell themselves is the right people have never been in charge of it and without the right amount of money.
But now the right guys in charge finally were the ones we've been waiting for.
Obama and his crew finally now.
This is the way.
This is the way the world has been waiting for.
This is the moment the world's been waiting for.
This is the guy who is going to show the world how socialism and communism can be made to work.
How there will be happiness and unity and joy.
But Rush, everybody's miserable.
There's no happiness at all.
There's more.
Look at Arizona.
It's threatening to cut off Los Angeles' power supply because Los Angeles is boycotting Arizona.
Yeah, that's part of the plan, too.
Because remember, the purpose is to bring misery to the achievers.
In the view of the leftist, there is misery everywhere but say 10 to 20% of the population.
80% in capitalism is oppressed, downtrodden, poor, denied rights, opportunity, and so forth.
So it can't get any worse for them.
But it's got to get worse in order to make the rich, quote unquote, suffer and be in pain.
And that's what's going on.
So Obama can go into Ohio yesterday where there's 15% unemployment and tell the people there they don't know how good they've got it with him in charge.
They can sit there with double-digit unemployment nationwide with no effort, an oil spill.
And what does Obama do?
Convenes a bunch of meetings while other people are trying to stanch the flow of oil.
Everything's at a crisis opportunity for these people.
I guarantee you.
And I'm not making it up.
It may make it sound funny when I talk about it.
This tarball business in the keys is a great illustration.
These people were so happy.
I'm telling you, the media last night, it was orgasmic.
They didn't need any edible underwear.
They get their jollies last night.
There were tarballs in the keys.
That meant that this oil spill was finally spreading in the ocean currents, exactly like they had said.
They're going to have a real disaster now.
Remember, yesterday I told you that a Democrat in Louisiana doesn't want Bobby Jendel to take action to fix this or to protect the shoreline because they don't want Jendel to get the credit for doing anything because Jendel believes in limited government.
So they're trying to say, well, you don't have any right to be doing this.
You believe in limited government.
Limited government would not do something like this.
So the disaster must happen.
And it must be bad.
Katrina was a godsend.
Katrina, for the leftist, was a godsend.
Look at what it allowed them to do.
Blame every enemy they've got.
Blame capitalism.
Blame a government not run by them.
The pain and suffering, the pictures of people on their rooftops desperately asking to be rescued, perfect.
Perfect picture.
They think that you see them in anxiety and sorrow over these people.
No, no, no.
They don't have compassion.
Everybody is a prop to the leftist.
Everybody's even a two-year-old second grader at a grade school in Maryland.
Mrs. Obama, Mr. My Mom said, get your husband.
You fought Barack Obama.
What's the pick people out of the country to have papers?
Now, use anybody.
Their own kids.
I have to take a break.
We'll be right back after this.
Stay tuned.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's no question that kid's question was a plant.
Second grader, she was supposed to say Arizona, not Obama.
I mean, she Michelle Obama, just look at Michelle Obama's answer to the question.
Michelle Obama knew she was going to get a question from the kid about Arizona requiring papers.
And a little kid goofed up the question: Arizona's a tough word for a second grader, but Obama, she hears it all the time.
No, I mean, I don't think there's any doubt it was a setup question.
And look at Michelle's answer is the best indication to me the whole thing was a plant because if Michelle had actually listened, oh, no, no, it's not my husband that's going to take people's papers.
No, no, it's not my husband that's going to ask her papers.
No, no, it's Arizona that's going to ask her.
We got to have Congress to solve that.
But she just answered it as though the question was asked about Arizona, not her husband.
So there's no doubt in my mind.
I got an email from my brother David last night saying, I finally signed up for Life Luck.
Now, let me share a little secret, folks.
As a highly trained broadcast specialist, there are very many ways that we highly trained specialists measure our success.
When I got the email from my brother saying I finally signed up for Life Luck, that was one of a best indications I could have received that I got the message out.
And people that know you, they say, well, it's your business.
You say these things.
You wouldn't believe the number of people that say to me, you really, really use a select comfort.
Oh, no, I'm just lying about it.
Of course, I don't use it.
Of course, I use the Select Comfort bed.
You have life?
Yes, of course.
I've got Life Luck.
Folks, there were some contracts with my social security number stolen from the animation department at Fox.
A computer with that stuff on it.
Of course, I have Life Lock.
The computer was password protected, but of course I have it.
But when my brother said, okay, I finally signed up for Life Lock.
Then as a highly trained specialist, I knew I'd gotten the message out.
You should get it too.
There's nobody protect your identity better.
Nobody's going to do it flawlessly, but their identity alert system is better than anybody else's.
800-440-4833 is the number for Life Lock.
Use my name, you'll save 10%.
It's called the promo code, Rush.
800-440-4833.
Hi, welcome back, Rush Limbaugh, again, highly trained broadcast specialist.
I'm not kidding you.
Before Acorn had all of its recent troubles, they were teaching squatters' rights seminars.
You remember these?
They had squatters-right seminars.
Acorn was teaching these, training people to take over foreclosed properties and just live in them.
Deed in lieu of foreclosure.
One of my favorite headlines of the day-to-day comes in the AP: Obama endorsements don't seem to help Democrats.
Charles Babington, Charles, what was your first clue?
Make that your next story.
See you tomorrow, folks.
