Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
That was 35.
We're running late.
Greetings and welcome.
It's Rush Limboy.
And what's the matter, Dawn?
Ah, I get it.
That's a double tree last night.
All right, starting again here.
Greetings, my friends, and welcome.
It's Rush Limbaugh.
This is the Excellence in Broadcasting Network.
Great to have you with us.
Already Thursday here on the uh the fastest week in media.
Our telephone number, if you want to be on the program, 800 282-2882, the email address, El Rushbow at EIBNet.com.
Barack Obama at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles last night said this.
But I want you to know, Los Angeles.
You ain't seen nothing yet.
We're going to do all these things.
We're not going to bring it back a better America.
We're going to deal with these issues.
The last two things he said, we're going to deal with these issues.
We're going to bring back a better America.
Obama is saying to the people, there's a rich Hollywood donors last night.
He's out there raising all kinds of money, by the way, in Las Vegas and in Los Angeles in the middle of a recession.
And he's saying the American economy, we're going to bring it back from the brink.
We're going to bring it back.
The American economy back from the brink.
President told the donors and celebrities of the Beverly Hilton Hotel the stimulus bill passed three months ago is starting to improve the economy.
It is an out and out lie.
I'm sorry, that you know the White House has been warning us.
Did it go easy on Sodomyer?
Did you hear about that?
They're warning us against this tough language.
Here's Gibbs.
Robert Gibbs.
Daily White House press briefing yesterday, Chip Reed of CBS.
Newt Gingrich said, Imagine a judicial nominee.
My experience as a white man makes me better than a Latina woman.
Wouldn't they have to withdraw?
New racism's no better than old racism, Gibbs.
A white man racist nominee would be forced to withdraw.
Latina woman racist should also have to withdraw.
That's what Newt said.
What's your reaction?
I think it is probably important for anybody involved in this debate to be exceedingly careful with the way in which they've decided to describe different aspects of this impending confirmation.
That is a threat.
That is a threat from the Office of Dictates.
That is a threat from Robert Gibbs.
People better be careful.
This White House makes a habit of threatening critics.
They did it, uh Rick Santelli at uh CNBC.
Gibbs repeated this yesterday.
Be exceedingly careful.
So I guess I'm a little bit strong here when I say when Obama tells donors and celebrities at the Beverly Hilton Hotel the stimulus bill passed three months ago starting to improve the economy.
Let's see here.
I have a couple stories.
There's there's one story from the uh from the in the stack here, and I forget what newspaper it's from, but it details how in Michigan none of the stimulus money is going to shovel ready projects.
None of it.
There can be how can the economy said to be back from the brink, folks, when the market tanked 200 points yesterday.
And how about these two stories back to back after the president says the economy's back from the brink?
One of eight U.S. households with a mortgage ended the first quarter loan or first quarter late on loan payments, or in the foreclosure process in a crisis that will persist for at least another year until unemployment peaks, said the Mortgage Bankers Association today.
U.S. unemployment in April reached its highest rate in more than 25 years.
It is still rising, helping propel mortgage delinquencies and foreclosures to record highs.
The economy's back from the brink.
See, it's not what Obama says, ladies and gentlemen, as I've always pointed out, it is how he says it.
So we've got mortgage delinquencies at a record high.
This is from the AP that can't quite figure this out because we, of course, have had all these programs to pay for people's mortgages.
We've had how many billions of dollars of if not trillions, have been spent to stop this?
How much bailout money, how many programs, how much money, seriously, has been targeted to stop foreclosures and to keep people in their homes?
We keep hearing Barney Frank talk about it.
We keep hearing Chris Dodd talk about it.
President Obama has talked about it since before he was immaculated.
The economy's back from the brink.
A record 12% of homeowners with a mortgage are behind on their payments or in foreclosures as the housing crisis spreads to borrowers with good credit.
The wave of foreclosures isn't expected to crest until the end of next year.
The foreclosure rate on prime fixed rate loans doubled in the last year, now represents the largest share of new foreclosures, nearly six percent fixed rate mortgages to borrows borrowers with good credit were in the foreclosure process.
And at the same time, almost half of all adjustable rate loans made to borrowers with shaky credit were past due or in foreclosure.
The worst of the trouble continues to be centered in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Florida, which accounted for 46% of new foreclosures in the country.
And there were no signs of improvement.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, no, no, no, no, because the president told rich Hollywood donors last night that the economy's back from the brink.
And that we ain't seen nothing yet, and that scares the hell out of me, I must tell you.
If we ain't seen yet, it means hell is facing us.
As traditional conservatives, President Obama's recent loan modification and refinancing plan might stem some foreclosures, but not enough to significantly alter the crisis, says AP.
President Obama's recent loan modification and refinancing plan, there's a website that you can go and you can apply and have maybe have your mortgage taken care of and not get foreclosed.
It isn't working.
The automobile bailouts did not work.
The bailout of the banks has not worked.
The bailout of the mortgage industry has not worked.
Stemming foreclosures has not worked.
The economy is not back from the brink.
None of it has worked.
All of the political fixes have not worked.
The sad reality is that when they don't work, it is good news for President Obama.
It's more chaos.
It is the need he thinks that people will have for even more government intervention and more tax increases and an ever growing government to fix the problems.
He feeds off the crisis.
He feeds off the chaos.
At the same time, he mysteriously gets accolades and credit for trying to fix the problem.
What everybody ought to be asking is where in hell did all of these trillions of dollars go that were supposed to save the auto industry, supposed to save the mortgage industry, supposed to save the banking business, and supposed to save your house.
Where in hell did all that money go?
That's what somebody needs to research and find out.
It went somewhere.
It has been spent or it is scheduled to be spent.
Who got it?
It obviously did not help the automobile companies.
It did not help you who are being foreclosed on.
It did not help the mortgage industry.
It has not helped the banks.
It has not helped Wall Street firms such as AIG.
Where has all of this money gone?
Let's assume for a moment that all of the money went to where the government and Obama said it was going to go.
If that's the case, can we all agree it hasn't worked?
Can we all agree the economy is not back from the brink?
Can we all agree the economy is getting worse?
Unemployment in April, a 25-year high.
Purchasing powers.
Now I've got one of the most amazing stories in the stack today, the AP, I forget maybe AP Washington Post somebody running a story here on the good things happening as a result of the economic downturn.
And you know what one of them is?
With fewer people working, it means there are fewer people on the roads, fewer people going to work, which means there's less traffic.
Shazam, a smaller carbon footprint, and easier commutes.
So we're supposed to be happy that how many millions of our fellow citizens are out of work, collecting unemployment, not on the roads, not creating traffic jams.
But the economy is back from the brink.
President Obama told Hollywood lefties last night.
Wow, Hollywood economy is not doing that great gangbusters either.
But there are not there aren't there many sectors that are that are doing.
I mean, there's no there's no GDP growth.
GDP's negative growth.
It hasn't turned around back from the brink.
The economy's back from this is just more smoke and mirrors.
He says it must be true.
He's the Messiah.
Facts on the ground say otherwise.
Gotta take a break.
We'll be back.
We'll continue.
Much more straight ahead.
And uh back at a Jeffy before you even know it.
We are back.
Rush Limbaugh, America's real anchor man, America's truth detector, and the doctor of democracy.
So there's Barack Obama.
He's in Los Angeles, which is in one state.
It's in California.
A state that is what?
Tanking.
A state that is falling apart.
A state that may need to be bailed out.
A state that is near bankrupt.
And he's telling people in that state they ain't see nothing yet.
If I'm in that state, I head for Idaho.
Or somewhere, I'd be running for the hills.
I'd have all my cash and I'd grab my gun and I would get out of there.
They ain't seen nothing yet.
Here's that story I was referring to earlier.
It's in USA Today.
States hit hardest by the recession received only a few of the government's first stimulus contracts, even though the glut of new federal spending was meant to target places where the economic pain has been particularly severe.
Nationwide, federal agencies have awarded nearly four billion dollars in contracts to help jumpstart the economy since Obama signed the porculus bill in February.
But with few exceptions, that money has not reached the states where unemployment rate is the highest, according to a USA-to-day review of contracts disclosed through the federal procurement data system in Michigan, for example, where years of economic tumult and a collapsing domestic auto industry have produced the nation's worst unemployment rate.
Federal agencies have spent about two million dollars on stimulus contracts or 21 cents per person in Michigan.
In Oregon, where unemployment is almost as high as Michigan, they have spent two dollars and twelve cents per person, far less than the nationwide average of nearly 13%.
But the economy is coming back from the brink.
The stimulus bill by USA Today's own measurement isn't working.
It isn't having one iota.
In fact, it may be hurting.
We get nothing but lies from this administration.
We get nothing but empty promises that sound wonderful, but are empty.
Vice President Biden and two cabinet secretaries unveiled a national program Tuesday to train workers for green jobs that'll make public housing more energy efficient.
Biden, the housing secretary Sean Donovan, a labor secretary Hilda Solis announced the plan in Denver at a meeting of Obama's task force on the middle class.
Sean Donovan, the housing secretary, said that some of the four billion dollars from Obama's 787 billion dollar porculus bill that was budgeted to renovate public housing will be spent to create jobs for making the dwellings more energy efficient.
Solis, another task force member, said $500 million will be distributed as grants for training workers.
Investing in public housing will improve its quality reduced.
None of this is gonna happen.
And if it does happen, it's gonna have the same impact that bailing out the automobile companies had.
Zero.
It's gonna have the same impact bailing out the banks had.
Zero.
It's gonna have the same impact that saving your home mortgages had.
Zero.
Four billion dollars.
Four billion with a B to make a new government program make another government program green.
We already have a government program to build schools and to modernize them.
Now we're gonna spend four billion more to make them green.
We do not need this.
We need cops.
We need highways and roads without potholes.
We need more mental hospitals.
Mental hospitals.
People because people are going insane in this economy.
Four billion dollars, and it's not gonna work just you really have to ask yourself, my friends.
Where have all these trillions gone to bail out the automobile company?
Where's the money?
Where has all the money gone to save the banks, to save your mortgage, to save Wall Street, to save the mortgage industry?
Where has it gone?
It didn't work wherever it went.
Don't you think it's time for business solutions to these problems rather than political?
In a story I held over from yesterday from the Sacramento Bee.
The steady increase of mentally ill residents in California where they ain't seen nothing yet.
Combined with Sacramento County's budget walls forced the county's main psychiatric hospital late Friday to close its doors to new patients.
Now, this shows up yesterday in Sacramento B. I have lived in Sacramento, and I know what's gonna happen here.
People read this story and they're gonna say, oh my God!
Oh my God, more crazy people roaming the streets!
More crime, oh my god, oh my we need to spend more on the mental hospitals.
And that's how the cycle perpetuates itself.
The doors to the shrink ward remain closed through Tuesday, might stay closed for several more days.
Officials said the scene could repeat itself throughout the year.
As local and state funding continues their decline.
A situation, say officials and advocates suggest that California is at the brink of a mental health catastrophe.
Yeah, I'd say so, but they ain't seen nothing yet.
Barack Obama, last night in Hollywood.
I think Sacramento County, like all counties in California's facing a mental health crisis, said Dorian Kittrell, the executive director of the mental health treatment center.
Unfortunately, when budget cuts are needed, health care is often at or near the top of the list over and over again, and unfortunately, there's only so much assistant compare before it breaks.
Mental health caseloads have risen in recent years as the population has grown.
The crisis center in Sacramento now sees about 590 patients a month compared with 540 a month in 2004-2005.
This is an example of what drives some people crazy.
This, in fact, this story could drive you to a mental health hospital.
Because what this story is pointing out, plain as day for anybody who wants to admit it is socialism does not work.
Big government does not work.
Taking care of everybody cannot work.
And here's an example, a teachable moment.
The government taking tons of money to support mentally deranged people.
It doesn't work.
It works for a little while.
It gives a false sense of comfort, but it's not sustainable.
Then they come out, they use a story like this.
And the lack of police and the opening up of prisons, like Governor Schwartz said, we may have to turn prisoners loose.
So you got crazies.
The story is you're going to have wacko lunatic people, mentally deranged people running loose all over the state of California.
Because that people don't pay enough in taxes.
So this is to Scare you so that the leaders can go ahead and spend billions on their green programs or whatever else they want.
Schwarzenegger, the perfect example, running off for a photo op with Obama for more stupid green garbage while his voters said no, no, no, no, no, to every proposition he put up.
Now, the thing about socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.
And we've we've reached that point.
We're now printing it.
We've run out of other people's money, you libs.
And any conservative worth a dam could look at the city of Sacramento, the state of California and the budgets, and find a way to keep these hospitals open, keep the police on the streets and the jail doors locked.
Those people have fled California.
California has been surrendered to the nuts to run it into the ground, and now they're walking the streets.
And we're back.
El Rush Bow serving humanity, executing assigned host studies flawless.
Zero mistakes.
800-282-2882.
Kill the music there just a second.
That's you ain't seen nothing yet, by the way.
Bachman Turner Overdrive.
Ladies and gentlemen, Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, has warned all of us to be very, very careful.
Uh how we say what we say about the Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor.
So, and I I do I want to apologize for shouting in my latter parts of that opening monologue.
I will admit here to just being frustrated as I can be.
We're watching the greatest economy of the world crumble right before our eyes.
Every promised fix is failing right before our eyes.
We have thrown trillions of dollars that no doubt cannot be tracked at all of these failing industries, and the industries continue to fail and get worse.
We have authorized a porculus bill of near one trillion dollars to get shovel ready projects going to get the economy going, get jobs.
It's not working.
There's no new employment to report out there, unemployment at a 25-year high last month.
None of it is working.
And what angers me is I think this is by design.
Nobody in their right mind, nobody I don't care liberal social communist, everybody with half a brain knows that what is being done right now to fix an economy doesn't fix an economy.
But it does a lot of other things.
It empowers the people who are spending the money.
It keeps the people who are the supposed recipients of the money impoverished.
It keeps them nervous, it keeps them on edge.
Those people are happy and uh very, very comforted that the government's trying to do something.
And so far it hasn't worked, and so Obama says, okay, we're working on this, so you ain't seen nothing yet, so they're going to be content to sit there and wait for more assistance to come, and it will not come because it cannot come.
This economy is simply too large as it was to be supported by a single entity, the United States government.
It simply cannot be.
The math doesn't work, the ideology doesn't work, the philosophy doesn't work, the theory doesn't work.
So yes, as angry, and I still am.
This is a this is the equivalent of a huge insult to my intelligence and to yours.
It isn't working.
It can't work, it will not work.
It will fail.
The problem is, and let me address, you know what?
I I keep running into more and I see as I scour the internet for show prep.
Or as I occasionally listen to the television news.
I hear more and more people referring to my comment, I hope he fails, referring to the president, still being very upset about this.
Oh, what a dumb political comment that was, people are saying.
How silly, how stupid.
That's really gonna, that's really gonna bring moderates to the cause, right?
Because everybody, when they hear Limbaugh says, I hope Obama fails, they must they think that the limbaugh wants the country to fail.
Now, let me say something to you right here and right now and look at me.
It's this.
Virtually everybody, I don't care whether they're conservative, liberal, independent, moderate, or Martian.
Virtually everybody who heard my comment, I hope Obama fails, knows exactly what I meant.
There is not a sane person in this country who genuinely believes I want this country to fail.
Ladies and gentlemen, this country is failing because President Obama is succeeding.
I don't care how you choose to measure it.
There is no hope on the horizon for a job.
There is no hope on the horizon for renewed prosperity.
There is no hope on the horizon for economic growth.
It's not there.
It's been promised.
It has been said that the only entity that can guarantee all the things I just mentioned is the federal government.
The federal government has thrown trillions of dollars at failing entities, industries, and they're still failing and getting worse.
President Obama's policies will not fail in one regard.
They will not fail in impoverishing and enslaving more and more Americans the longer his policies succeed.
This that is happening to us, all of us, at this moment, unemployment record high since 25 years ago.
One out of seven homes being foreclosed on.
The automobile business basically bankrupt after trillions of dollars in bailouts now owned by Obama.
Wall Street is an abject mess.
The state of California is bankrupt.
The state of New York soon will be.
All of these places are talking about raising taxes further on people, which will reduce the number of people who are able to hire other people, in other words, create jobs.
This is the exact kind of success I wanted to fail.
And everybody who heard me say it knew exactly what I meant.
It is being used by people on our side of the aisle who are scared to death of conservatives.
It is being used by them to say that I'm driving moderates away.
It's being used by people on the left to say that I want America to fail.
When everybody in their brain knows exactly what I meant.
Just as everybody with a brain, everybody with a modicum of education knows that what President Obama is doing will not do what he promises, will not do what he says.
It will not revive this economy.
We are soon going to be approaching the one-year mark...
In fact, the first stimulus package occurred over a year ago.
And it was offered by President Bush.
And it was rebate checks to the American people.
And this was to help us buy things.
And then some months later, there was a second installment of this same rebate plan, checks from the federal government.
And then came, as we approach the one-year anniversary of the beginning of massive bailouts, starting with TARP, then to the auto companies and so on and so forth.
Fannie Mae, Freddie Mack, the mortgage industry, a year, my friends, if stimulating these industry sectors with this amount of money has only made it worse.
At what point does somebody have the guts to stand up and say, stop it?
It has failed.
It isn't working and it shows no signs of working.
And everybody with a brain, with a modicum of education, knows it can't work.
It never has worked throughout the history of human civilization.
It's unsustainable, whether it be the mental health hospital in Sacramento, whether it be the economy of the state of California, whether it be the automobile industry, whatever government takes on outside of the government sphere, outside of its constitutional role, whatever it takes on that's in the private sector with the intention of fixing it only gets worse.
In fact, so do the things they do fix that they think are legitimately theirs to fix.
They create the war on poverty, it's worse than ever in terms of percentages.
They create the great society, and all of these programs which have featured an 11 trillion dollar transfer of wealth over the past 30 years or so, and these problems have not been abated, they have not been solved, they have not been reduced, they exist.
It could be said that the federal government's involvement in the massive welfare state has served to destroy families, minority families, because the government took over the role of the father.
The father no longer had to hang around because the government was there.
Every week or month or however often the checks come.
So it isn't working.
This kind of failure is exactly what I wanted to avoid.
I was hoping that Obama would not succeed in further destroying the United States economy.
So there he is, in the middle of a bankrupt state, telling people there they ain't seen nothing yet.
Two rounds of applause and a standing ovation from, of course, the wealthy Hollywood elites.
As I was saying, Robert Gibbs at the White House yesterday warned people like me to be very careful about what we say about Sonia Sotomayor.
So, ladies and gentlemen, I want you to turn your radio up because I'm going to have to whisper this so that they don't hear this at the White House.
In fact, those of you who can, if you're in your cars, roll up your windows.
Those of you who are at home, take your radios to the bathroom.
Close the doors.
Make sure that no one else hears what I'm about to tell you about Sonia Sotomayor.
Are you ready?
Got the windows up.
Here we go.
Three, two, one.
In the year 2004.
Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, ruled that ownership of a gun is not a constitutional right.
That case is at present being appealed before the U.S. Supreme Court, as are a couple other of her cases.
2004 Supreme Court nominee.
Sonia Sotomayor said owning a gun is not a constitutional right.
She ruled in this fashion as a judge.
President Obama could have chosen a different Hispanic or a different female, but he chose Sonia Sotomayor because she reflects his own racial attitudes.
Let's be honest about this.
He's got anger about race in this country, so does she.
It cannot be denied.
Can I give you a Thomas Jefferson quote?
Thomas Jefferson quote in a letter he wrote to Charles Hammond, August 18th, 1821.
It's 188 years later.
It has long, however, been my opinion, and I have never shrunk from its expression, that the germ of dissolution of our federal government is in the constitution of the federal judiciary.
Working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today, gaining a little tomorrow, advancing its noiseless step like a thief over the field of jurisdiction until all shape shall be usurped.
Our founding fathers were fortune tellers.
They were prophets.
They were wise beyond measure.
Never fails to amaze me when I go back and read their warnings of the future after they had crafted the U.S. Constitution.
I'm very much like these people, my friends, and my ability to prognosticate and profit the future.
Thomas Jefferson warned 188 years ago that the federal government and the germ of its dissolution was in the way the federal judiciary was constituted.
Ergo, 188 years later, is right.
We have Sonia.
Sotomayor.
Who thinks that the court is where policy is made?
Okay, you can lower the windows now, come out of the bathrooms.
I'm through.
I had a note from a friend Steve Gilbert who points out how can uh uh didn't even know we had any mental health centers.
I thought Reagan closed them all, and that's where the homeless came from.
And by gosh, he's right.
You remember it was Reagan's fault we had homelessness.
He shut down all the mental health centers, all the mental health hospitals.
And all of a sudden they're back up and running and they're overflowing.
Here is Barack Obama last night in Los Angeles, saying, um, you know, the economy's back from the brink, and you ain't seen nothing yet, but this is the economy back from the brink comment.
When you look at the economy right now, I think it's safe to say that we have stepped back from the brink.
That there is some calm that didn't exist before.
Where is the calm that didn't exist before?
We've stepped back from the brink.
We have not.
It is only getting worse.
A couple of international headlines, ladies and gentlemen, from Havana.
Via AP, former Cuban President Fidel Castro, is criticizing Dick Cheney for defending American interrogation methods against terror suspects.
Fidel Castro siding with the Obama administration and MSNBC says that torture should never be used to extract information.
Castro says the U.S. itself engaged in acts of terrorism against Cuba after the 1959 revolution that he led, and Castro further said that not a single prisoner has ever been tortured in Cuba.
Now, I don't know if this should make you cry or just laugh out loud, silly.
But here's here's here's uh Fidel Castro on the side of the Obama administration and MSNBC.
Now, from Pravda.
Another international story, the English language version of Pravda, the headline Homosexuals to finally destroy Arnold Schwarzenegger as politician.
This is definitely a uh uh the only place in the world anybody would dare print this is Pravda.
I'm just passing it along.
It's in the news out there.
Another scandal connected with the struggle for the rights of homosexual individuals is gathering pace in the United States.
The Supreme Court of California upheld the ban on gay married on May 26th.
The verdict was based on the results of the referendum conducted in November of 2008.
The amendment, which the Californians approved, banned gay marriage and defined family as a union between a man and a woman.
The uh an American citizen of Russian origin told Pravda that many in the U.S. perceived the U.S. history of recent decades as a struggle against oppressions in the society.
North American states are considered to be a source of perversion in the world, says Pravda.
World media regularly poured about gay pride parades, which homosexuals organize, seeking more and more rights.
The struggle reached its peak when the when the gay marriage issue came up.
Sexual minorities have many adversaries here in the uh states.
California's governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the ardent proponent of traditional family values, put the issue of gay marriage to a referendum.
It became the most expensive referendum in U.S. history.
The results of the vote became quite sad.
For American gays and lesbians, Schwarzenegger's adversaries ready to use the Puritans to finally destroy him as a politician.
That's how Pravda, the English language version of Pravda in Russia, reported on Prop 8 with the headline, Heck the homosexuals to finally destroy Arnold Schwarzenegger as politician.
Vice President Biden made fun of President Obama yesterday at the Air Force Academy In Colorado Springs.
But it also needs a special brand of strategic thinking that are gained only in the thin air of Colorado Springs.
And the windy air of Colorado Springs.
What am I going to tell the president when I tell him his teleprompter is broken?
What will he do then?
Biden was out there making a speech at the Air Force Academy, and the wind came up and blew the teleprompter screens around.
And uh Biden then said, What what president is gonna do?
And I tell him his teleprompter is broken.
Vice President Jover, hey, Chuck, stand up, Chuck!
Hey, stand up!
Oh, good God, oh my god.
Oh, what did I do?
Chuck, stand up for Chuck, everybody.
