Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
So the President of the United States today at the White House, in an exchange with reporters, was asked about the Somali pirates.
The latest on the Somali pirates is, and this is a great example of American can-do-ism.
The crew didn't wait for anybody to be rescued over there.
The captain of the ship is now being held hostage, as was the case yesterday afternoon.
The crew is not.
And we're now trying to figure out what to do about this.
The captain of the ship is being portrayed as a genuine hero, one of the few CEOs in America who is being portrayed as a hero, by the way.
Greetings, my friends, Rush Limbaugh, the EIB Network.
Great to have you with us as we charge forward for another three hours of broadcast excellence.
Here is the exchange that took place.
We're going to start with audio soundbite number 10 here.
This is the exchange that took place with reporters and President Obama.
It's very quick.
It's only five seconds.
Can we get a quick ranting of the pirates?
Are you Somali pirates?
Guys, we're talking about housing right now.
The President of the United States declined comment about the situation with the Somali pirates and the captain of the U.S. ship who is being held hostage.
If you had trouble understanding, they said, can we get a quick reaction to the pirates?
The Somali pirates.
And Obama said, thank you, guys.
We're talking about housing right now.
This is President Obama voting present, declining to comment.
This is President Obama not wanting to address anything that is hard.
Addressing things that are hard, bring your approval numbers down.
Iran is now running 7,000 uranium enrichment centrifuges.
A senior official said today an announcement likely to increase Western concerns about the Islamic Republic's disputed nuclear plans.
It doesn't matter, though, because we're going to sit down and talk to them.
We're going to sit down and the Europeans are leading some talks.
We're going to sit down and talk to the Iranians.
So it doesn't matter they're ramping up their nukes.
We're going to sit down and we're going to talk to them.
Back, ladies and gentlemen, to the pirate situation.
Late yesterday afternoon in Washington, press conference with the Moroccan prime minister and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Unidentified reporter says, Madam Secretary, do you have any clarity on the Somali pirate situation?
We're deeply concerned, and we're following it very closely.
You know, specifically, we are now focused on this particular act of piracy and the seizure of a ship that carries 21 American citizens.
More generally, we think the world must come together to end the scourge of piracy.
I think Morocco was the very first country that recognized us, going back a long time.
And we worked together to end piracy off the coast of Morocco all those years ago.
And we're going to work together to end this kind of criminal activity anywhere on the high seas.
Well, this is just incredible.
She sits there and laughs about how we worked with Morocco years ago.
We came to our very first country that recognizes we work To end piracy off the, off the coast of Morocco all those years.
And now the world has to come together again to, well, we probably did blow up Morocco, showed them who's boss.
But now the world has to come together here.
This is the world has to do something.
Now, Hillary warned us about this during the presidential campaign.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mrs. Clinton kept reminding the United States, the people of this country, about that 3 a.m. phone call.
Even the AP writes a story about this today.
Hillary Clinton said there'd be days and nights like this.
For the second time in four days and with less than three months in orifice, President Obama has received the 3 a.m. phone call that Hillary Clinton warned about.
In their bitter presidential contest, Hillary suggested her young rival was not ready for a national security crisis.
He's not, he declined comment when asked about audio soundbite number 10 one more time in 3, 2, 1.
Can we get a quick rant of the migration Somali pirates?
Guys, we're talking about housing right now.
Thank you.
We're talking about housing.
I haven't got time to talk about the pirates.
Americans?
What do you mean?
We're talking about housing right now, guys.
Thanks very much.
As the AP says, Obama's tests are coming early, first from the borderline rogue government in North Korea, and then from stateless bandits preying on shipping lanes off the east coast.
Look at these are the Somali pirates are Muslims.
If this had happened in Afghanistan, what will we be doing?
If Americans have been taken hostage in Afghanistan and been attacked, what would we be doing?
Would Hillary Clinton be out there saying, well, when the world has to come together, just like we did with Morocco way back when we were the first ones to, they were the first ones.
What an inept bunch.
They don't know what to do here.
The crew took it upon themselves, as did the captain, to take matters into their uh, into their own hands and to try to alleviate the uh, the situation that they find themselves in.
But mrs Clinton warned about this, and even the AP is reminding us uh, that she did.
Mrs Clinton doesn't sound like she's any more prepared for this than uh, than president Obama is.
I mean, here she's at a.
She did a scripted appearance with the head honcho from Morocco, and so that's the script.
She gets a question about the pirates.
Well, you know we, we were the Moroccans that were the first to recognize us, or we were the first to recognize.
This just proved we, we beat the pirates.
Way back there though, it was proved.
The world has to come together to uh beat the pirates.
It reminds me we're going to because of uh Obama's disastrous I mean from from my perspective, from his disastrous, Disastrous trip to Europe.
I asked Cookie to go back today and get some audio sound bites of Obama's Berlin speech last summer when he was citizen of the world, because in that speech he is also very critical of the United States, talks about the imperfections of his own country, talks about how Berliners have probably not seen somebody like him from America running for president, a racial comment.
And then he went on to say, notice how the world came together to bring down the Berlin Wall.
The world did not come together to bring down the Berlin Wall.
The United States and Ronald Reagan brought down the Berlin Wall, working together with Maggie Thatcher and the Brits.
The U.S. Congress, the Democrats, and the U.S. Congress were mostly against doing what was necessary, taking the steps that brought down the Berlin Wall.
Many of the nations in Europe were scared to death to go along with us.
The Pershing missiles in Europe aimed at the Soviet Union, going ahead with plans for the Strategic Defense Initiative.
The world didn't come together to bring down the end to Soviet communism.
But Obama was there.
Look at all the world came together.
The world got it.
We're going to come together.
Now, Hillary is out there with the same mantra: the world came together, must come together to stop piracy.
Ladies and gentlemen, I need to come clean on something.
If you remember, and I just got the pictures of this, by the way, I've got to find a way to get these up to the website.
I have them at home.
The Tuesday prior to the immaculate inauguration of Barack Obama, I was the invited guest of President Bush for lunch in the dining room off the Oval Office.
And that was the occasion where President Bush presented me with a birthday cake, and he and Ed Gillespie sang happy birth to me.
And all this is photographed.
And I finally got the pictures of this.
And it just, it's, I looked at the pictures, the memory and so forth.
It was after that I went to the East Room, also by invitation, to watch the Medals of Honor being presented to John Howard, Senor Uribe, and Tony Blair.
It was that night, if you'll recall, that Barack Obama hosted dinner, well, attended dinner hosted by George Will for 10 or 11 conservative pundits.
And I had missed the program that day, but I had not told the audience the day before that I would be gone.
I said, I'll see you tomorrow.
And then the guest host that day, we thought we'd have a little fun with the audience.
Guest host that day said I had been called out of town to Washington late the night before for a secret meeting.
The news of the Obama dinner at George Will's house breaks, and immediately I hijacked the story when I didn't even know anything about it because the media said, oh, is that where Limbaugh was?
We know he was at the White House.
We got pictures.
Did Limbaugh, is Limbaugh at that dinner?
Because the names of the conservatives were not immediately released.
They were under guarded lock and key.
And I was not at that dinner.
And I said that day, the next day, that I had not met with President Obama.
But ladies and gentlemen, I did.
And I gave him peace of my mind.
I told him to his face I didn't want his policies to work, that I knew they wouldn't work, that they would fail, that I didn't think he had the executive experience to pull all this off.
And he looked at me and said, I understand, I understand, but look, I'm the visionary.
I'm going to provide a vision.
I won the election.
It doesn't really matter to me what you think.
So it did happen.
I lied to the audience.
Well, why is a strong word?
Well, I was just withheld information.
I was trying, I was trying here to be, it was off the record.
I was trying to be respectful here of the situation.
But I did meet with President Obama.
In a related story, where's audio soundbite number 21?
In a related story, here is from Tuesday on the Situation Room on CNN, Vice President Biden.
I remember President Bush saying to me one time in the Oval Office, and he was a great guy, enjoyed being with him.
He said to me, he said, well, Joe, he said, I'm a leader.
And I said, Mr. President, turn around and look behind you.
No one's following.
People are beginning to follow the United States again as a consequence of our administration.
That's Vice President Biden describing a conversation he had alone in the Oval Office with President Bush shortly before President Obama was inaugurated.
It's about the same time I had my meeting with President Obama, which I told him to his face that I didn't want his policies to work.
In fact, that I knew they would fail and that I was very distressed that he has to know they're going to fail too.
And I said, what is your point?
Why do you want to reorder?
He said, well, I won and I've got the vision and so forth.
White House aides, by the way, Bush White House aides are denying that Biden was ever alone with the president or ever said anything of the sort to the president.
From Andrew Cardin to Karl Rove to Ary Fleischer to any number of White House aides.
Don't remember this.
Biden, we just don't.
And I'm sure that Obama's people will deny that he and I met privately and I told him face to face I wanted him to fail.
But you know the story.
Sorry, Mike, I want you to go back to audio sombre number 11.
Mrs. Clinton, you know, we're having fun here with the cackle with what she said about the pirates, and there's something far more serious that we need to discuss here.
So this is Mrs. Clinton today in actually yesterday Washington press conference with the Foreign Minister Morocco.
And a reporter said, Madam Secretary, do you have any clarity on the Somali piracy situation?
We're deeply concerned, and we're following it very closely.
You know, specifically, we are now focused on this particular act of piracy and the seizure of a ship that carries 21 American citizens.
More generally, we think the world must come together to end the scourge of piracy.
I think Morocco was the very first country that recognized us going back a long time.
And we worked together to end piracy off the coast of Morocco all those years ago.
And we're going to work together to end this kind of criminal activity anywhere in the high seas.
So we worked, and the cackle, the laugh here.
I mean, it's just, to me, it is irresponsible.
We are in the midst of an American hostage situation and she laughing.
And we work together to end as though we ended this year ago.
Him and it happened again.
But then the key to this, and what we all need to understand here, the last line, we need to work together to end this kind of criminal activity anywhere on the high seas.
The pirates, way back, criminal activity is the choice of words here that I wish to focus on.
Pirates were defeated.
Global trade blossomed.
Laughing about all the where the Barbary pirates were defeated.
Thomas Jefferson was the first to tackle the Muslims in this country, the well, militant, the militant Muslims.
And of course, we joined forces with Morocco and wipe out the pirates.
But the pirates ended up being defeated.
Global trade blossomed as a result.
They were not considered criminals with the same rights as, say, accused tax cheats.
The pirates were considered enemies of the human race.
In other words, they were alien enemy combatants who were deemed to have no claim on the rights afforded to criminals by the civilized world.
It was they were not treated when they were dealt with all of these years ago by the authorities in the world back then.
They were not dealt with as simple criminals.
And the reason people say, wow, piracy.
I mean, that's so.
John Paul Jones and Davy Jones Locker did piracy.
Where is this coming from?
Why is this returning?
The whole reason that there is a resurgence of piracy, which is something that was thought to have been stamped out a couple hundred years ago, is precisely because idiots like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama think pirates and terrorists, and this is terrorism, are criminals, not enemies.
This goes back to Jamie Gorelik and the Wall and the Clinton administration wanting to prosecute terrorists as though they are citizens of America with constitutional rights, prosecute them as criminals, the same as bank robbers.
And of course, the leftist takeover, or majority population, if you will, of the U.S. judicial system has seen to just that when discussing, say, the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay or anybody else.
They got to be released, released within the United States.
Lawyers must defend them as though they are criminals, not battlefield enemy combatants.
And so now the Clinton administration and the Obama himself looking at these people not as terrorists, but as criminals, not enemies.
If you start talking about these people being criminals, then you got to mirandize them.
Like, have the pirates been mirandized?
Have they been given their Miranda warnings?
No, they need to be wiped out.
This administration does not get it.
The left in this country does not understand the concept that this country has enemies.
Well, they might understand that we have enemies.
What they're wrong about is why.
They believe, and I am not exaggerating this in IOT, firmly believe this.
The Hillary Clinton, the Clintons, the left, the Democrat Party, most of it, elected Democrat Party, fervently believe we have enemies because it's our fault.
We have made enemies by virtue of our own existence.
We have made enemies because we are braggadocious.
We swagger.
We're the only superpower.
We're too big.
We steal and plunder all of the rich resources of the world and the treasure.
And we bring those resources home and we live a lifestyle unlike anywhere else in the world.
And we are stealing from the world's poor.
This is what Obama believes.
It is what Hillary believes.
That is why, throughout the G20 and Obama's disastrous tour, the whole point was to cut the United States down to size.
And so these pirates, in a way, I mean, it's brothers in arms.
We don't understand.
They're mad.
They have a poor country.
We don't.
We got to understand them.
Okay, we're back, Rushman Boy, and the excellence in broadcasting network.
Now, you know, I may need to be corrected here, ladies and gentlemen.
I just identified the Somali pirates as Muslim.
I could be wrong about this.
The president said that we are not at war with Islam.
He said it in Turkey.
He said it, I think, a couple of times on his trip to Europe.
He said, we are not at war with Islam.
Now, apparently, elements of Islam are at war with us, but we are not at war with them.
So if we're not at war with Islam, then it must mean the Somali pirates are not Muslim, right?
Because we're not at war with them.
I hope you're following me on this.
I'm just describing what the president said while overseas on the Cut America Down to Size Tour.
We're not at war with Islam.
We're not at war with it.
So the pirates must obviously be something other than Muslim.
Maybe they're Orthodox Jews.
Well, if they aren't Muslim, they got to be something.
Maybe if it's not Orthodox Jews, maybe it's Reformed Jews.
Maybe it's evangelicals.
Everybody knows the evangelicals are mad as hell these days about a whole bunch.
Maybe the Somali pirates are actually evangelicals.
Maybe they're Southern Baptists.
Who knows?
But they can't be Muslim because we're not at war with Islam.
I suppose they could be a rogue band, a very, very, very tiny, small, infinitesimal minority of Islam.
But we're not at war with Islam.
The president said so.
So the Somali pirates, I mean, the story is that they're Muslims, but that can't be because we're not at war with them.
My guess is it's the Orthodox Jews.
Orthodox Jews committing piracy in the open seas off Somalia over the years.
There's no question in my mind.
Audio Sound by Time, Barack Obama at Walter Reed National Naval Medical Center today said this to wounded soldiers.
Before coming home, I stopped to visit with our men and women who are serving bravely in Iraq.
And first and foremost, I wanted to say thank you to them on behalf of a grateful nation.
They've faced extraordinary challenges, and they have performed brilliantly in every mission that's been given to them.
They have given Iraq the opportunity to stand on its own as a democratic country, and that is a great gift.
My, my, my, how things have changed.
Do you know that it was just a year ago and two years ago and three years ago that the Democrat Party was saying our troops were rapists and murderers, that we were stealing their culture?
Remember John Kerry was saying that our troops were knocking down doors in the middle of the night, terrorizing Iraqi women and children in their homes?
Just last year, during the presidential campaign, I know Iraq ceased to be a central focus of the campaign, but the Democrats.
Jack Murtha, Jack Murthy was accusing them of murder for crying out loud.
Our troops were rapists, torturers, and murderers.
Barack Obama had comments during the campaign and prior to the campaign that indicated he agreed with this portrayal of the American military, and then he stops in to see them at Walter Reed and tells them they gave Iraq a great gift.
But Iraq was the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Wasn't it?
That's what Obama said.
He said he was the only guy on the Democrat Party prescient enough to vote against it.
Wrong war, wrong place, wrong time.
American military rapists, murderers, and thugs terrorizing Iraqi women and children.
Now, all of a sudden, they gave Iraq a great gift.
They faced extraordinary challenges and they have performed brilliantly in every mission that's been given to them.
This is from the man who joined Harry Reid and said essentially the Iraq war was lost.
This war is lost.
This is a man who said the surge would not work.
Sorry.
I forgot.
I forget the zeitgeist, the spirit of the times.
Obama, because of being elected, is why our troops changed.
Our troops became valorous.
Our troops became heroes after he was elected.
And they grew in stature even after his immaculation, the immaculation inauguration.
So now the troops are all good.
It's like Wall Street today up 183.
Wells Fargo out with earnings, $3 billion in profit.
I love Wells Fargo, by the way.
They didn't want TARP money.
They were forced to take it.
Everybody, this is the first day of earnings reports.
This was, again, unexpected.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, why the bank earnings report for Wells Fargo, by the way, earnings reporting season goes all the way to the 24th of April.
We might just be witnessing here a temporary bear market rally, but a lot of people are trying to say, hey, this is it.
We bought him out.
Banks are coming back.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Check your credit card balance and see if the banks are coming back.
I'm hearing from more and more people who say that they're the credit limits are sinking to just barely above the minimum payment or the balance owed, and that a number of credit card companies are reducing the amount you can charge on the card, taking people's accounts off and so forth.
Now, this is not going to create stimulus.
This is not going to create stimulus.
The banks that run credit card and credit card companies themselves are reducing the credit balance.
Some people's credit cards are being cut up and sliced.
Their accounts being canceled.
In the meantime, here we have one bank reporting big profits, $3 billion.
Yay!
And guess who's poised to take credit for it?
Barack Obama.
He inherited this bank mess.
He inherited this bank mess.
But now he's going to get the credit for it, his policies, and his working of magic with the federal government, bringing all of this back to life.
They better be careful because this may, as I say, they may just be a temporary bear market rally because there are other companies that are going to report earnings from now to the 24th of April.
They may not have this kind of news.
And so now our troops, our troops, who were murderers, rapists, and thugs terrorizing Iraqi women and children, wrong war, wrong place, wrong time.
Now they are heroic and they gave Iraq a great gift.
And that transformation occurs after the one is elected.
The magic of his presence, the power of his aura, has totally reshaped and remade the image in the world of the United States military.
And then he just, he couldn't stop when he was ahead.
He then had to go on to trash his own country again.
We have a sacred trust with those who wear the uniform of the United States of America.
It's a commitment that begins in enlistment, and it must never end.
But we know that for too long, we've fallen short of meeting that commitment.
Too many wounded warriors go without the care that they need.
Too many veterans don't receive the support that they've earned.
Too many who once wore our nation's uniform now sleep in our nation's streets.
It's time to change all that.
Another myth.
He told another whopper of a lie yesterday or the day before about a question that he was asked by the press that he wasn't asked.
He was out there telling some people that the press asked, didn't you solve everything this week?
And Jake Tappers, nobody asked him that.
So now the nation's vets are homeless.
They're sleeping under bridges.
No pictures of this.
America's vets don't get the care they need.
This country, after producing the greatest heroes that went over and acted as rapists, murderers, thugs, and terrorized women and children, all of a sudden now gave Iraq a great gift of the greatest heroes in the world, and our country spits on them.
Our country doesn't take care.
This from a member of the Democrat Party which tried to secure their defeat in Iraq.
Meanwhile, the $5.7 billion legislation called the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which by the way was proposed by Orrin Hatch, is a bill.
This bill's been sent to Obama to boost community service.
It's a U.S. News and World report.
The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act.
The bill to abused community service.
You know, mandatory service has got to go out there.
Now, all of this happening, this is in this swell.
Well, the U.S. military, the best of the community service programs we have, is getting slashed.
Obama goes up to Walter Reed, tells people, you were heroes.
You gave Iraq a great gift.
Our country's treated Lee like dirt.
Forget my party.
I'm not going to remind you what my party said about you.
Our country's treated you like dirt.
We love you.
We're going to make sure you get the only care in the world.
We're going to cut the defense budget, though, and we're going to expand required volunteer service.
The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act.
This was the first of two pieces of legislation that will be named after Senator Kennedy.
We're back.
Great to have you with us.
Rush Limited Boy, the cutting edge of societal evolution.
Rasmussen reports, only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism.
Did you see this today?
It is chilling.
Only 53% of American adults believe that capitalism is better than socialism.
The latest Rasmussen Reports National Survey, a telephone survey, found that 20% disagree and say socialism is better.
27% are not sure which is better.
Adults under 30, essentially evenly divided.
37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism, and 30% don't know.
Good Lord, that's as bad as 30% don't know.
That's as bad as only 53% thinking capitalism's better than socialism.
30-somethings are a bit more supportive of capitalism, 49-four, 26% against.
Adults over 40 strongly favor capitalism.
Just under 13% of those older Americans believe socialism is better.
So, you know why Obama's loved?
You know, Obama doesn't believe in capitalism either.
I'll say why Obama's loved.
Barack Obama, the world loves Obama because they hate the people he represents.
The world hates capitalism.
The world hates this country, the Somali pirates, whoever they are.
They resent us, they hate us, and he makes it sound like he does too.
He makes it sound like he's going to not hate, but he makes it sound like, yes, that's why my country's imperfect.
We're going to cut this down to something.
We're going to put some people in jail, and we're going to make sure they don't earn too much money.
We're going to go along with all this.
See, Obama's on these world tours not to promote his country or us, not to represent U.S. interests.
He is out there promoting himself.
As I said yesterday, he's traveling around as the world's leader, not ours.
Now, 53% say capitalism better than socialism.
Can somebody name for me, honestly now, name the last Republican candidate to actually articulate the advantages of capitalism?
Okay, it is easy.
Reagan, how long ago was that?
20 years ago, 20 years, even President Bush said that we have to abandon the free market to save it.
That doesn't exactly make the case for capitalism.
And we haven't had a Republican president make the case for capitalism since Reagan.
It's one of the reasons programs like this and Mark Levin's great book are going through the roof because capitalists do not have an elected leader.
Nobody in the Republican Party is willing to stand up for it.
The so-called conservative intelligence that wants us to become more like Democrats, be more moderate and understand we need a bigger government, they're not talking about capitalism.
When they say the era of Reagan is over, I mean, the era of Reagan is over, and capitalism's over and tax cuts are over, individual liberty, yeah, we can't be guided by any of those things.
So it's understandable that people understood are not being taught capitalism, being taught the op.
They're being told that capitalism sucks.
It's unfair that it's mean-spirited.
It leads to people being homeless and poor.
That's why it's 53%.
Jim in Norwell, Massachusetts.
Hello, sir.
Welcome to the EIB Network.
Great to have you here.
Thank you, Rush.
I have two points I'd like to make today.
The first is that it's been brought to my attention that the Obama administration has warned the ship's crew that they would be held to account under United States law for any mistreatment of the Somalian pirates.
The second point I would like to make is this is not the last time this has happened in 200 years, as the news media has been reporting.
The last incident I know of that happened in piracy was in 1967 off the coast of Cambodia with a vessel called the Mayaguez, where President Jerry Ford did send in the Marines.
Well, okay, yeah.
Yeah, and then, of course, there was Lloyd Booker and the ship, the Norx, the North Koreans.
Yeah, you're right, technically.
But what are you the first that's been put to your notification?
I didn't understand.
What is your first point again?
You said Obama.
What about the Obama administration?
There was a notation made to me this morning that the Obama administration had warned the ship's crew that they would be held to account under United States law for any mistreatment of the Somalian pirates.
Have you seen that any?
I have not.
That was sent to me in an email this morning.
Okay, it's in a newspaper.
I'm having trouble understanding you because it's not your fault.
It's a bad day for my cochlear implant.
So we've got to find that.
He says it's in a newspaper.
He's a maritime captain, by the way.
He says the Obama administration has warned the crew that any mistreatment of the pirates will be held to account.
I would think that would be banner headlines.
Okay, well, look, Jim, I appreciate that.
First, I've heard of this back after this.
I can't find anything that says the Obama administration has warned the crew not to mistreat the pirates.
You got to be very careful, this kind of stuff that goes around the internet.
That would be banner headlined all over the damn place if that were true.
Also, I can't believe the Obama administration is calling attention to the bow before the Saudi King.
