Time Text
Hi, ladies and gentlemen, how are you?
We're just floating right along here on the Excellence and Broadcasting Network, Rush Limbaugh, distinct honor and privilege to be with you every day of the year, but especially as we get down to the um as they say the nutcrack in time here as we approach the election one week from today,
of course, not counting the early votes, 800 282-2882, email address, L Rushbow at EIBNet.com, Michigan Democrats trying to arouse interest in absentee voting, have accidentally directed people to a phone sex line.
State Party spokeswoman Liz Kerr in Detroit says that a flyer that included two absentee ballot applications had a misprint in the number for a campaign hotline.
A flyer came from the Michigan Democrat State Central Committee and featured photos of uh Obama and Senator Carl Levin, the error first reported by WJBK TV in Detroit.
Democrat Party apologizes for the misprint, but says they have no plans to correct it.
Just kidding, they of course are gonna correct it, but it doesn't matter.
You call a phone sex hotline or you call a Democrat Party, you get screwed either way.
The latest gallop tracking poll, 49 to 47.
And the headline presidential race narrows slightly.
Yesterday the Gallup tracking poll was uh five points at 50 to 45, 4947 today, that's narrowing slightly.
That's margin of error.
IBD tip is uh what's changed?
What's changed is we're getting closer to the election, that's what's changed.
And they've got to start getting close to what they think is actually going to happen here for their uh credibility.
Yet if you turn on PMS NBC, you'll find that Obama's already got 285 electoral votes before you've even voted.
They got their electoral map out there, he's got 280 electoral votes, it's over.
49 to 47.
Now I'm gonna tell you something, folks.
You know, James Carville has warned of riots and trauma uh out there if uh Obama's up by a significant number going into the election and then loses.
And if indeed the pollsters get this wrong, and if they got it wrong all along, and McCain pulls out an electoral college victory, I hope somebody tells these rioters if they riot that the proper targets of their wrath are the media because that's who's misled them all along.
Uh, folks, it strikes me, I want to try something here.
I uh often we we criticize Senator McCain, for example, in the debate.
He he brought up uh uh William Ayers, and those of us who watched that good, good, good, good, but he didn't he didn't explain who Ayers is.
Uh he assumed that uh most people know who Ayers is.
Now for the bulk of this program and yesterday's we have been focusing on Obama's 2001 video, just recently found, by the way, his interview with the public radio station in Chicago, where he makes it plain that he wants the Supreme Court or wants the government somehow the legal system to enact his notion of redistribution, socialism.
And of course, we've discussed today that that uh some people may not know what socialism is, and some people might think it's a good thing.
What's wrong with it?
And to those of you who maybe now understand socialism, you maybe you're not quite sure about it.
And to those of you, uh, and I know you're out there, some of you college students and and uh and I know liberals are listening.
We do not preach to the choir here, contrary to what somebody says or the critics say, but I want to try to explain to you why this is bad, as it relates to the United States of America, by telling you what this country is and how it was founded.
In somewhat of a detailed fashion.
And the first thing I'd like to ask this question again, since I have your retention.
There have been populations of people organized as countries since the founding of the planet, since it was created, and since humanity first appeared.
People have organized themselves in in uh in in various ways, groups, families, nations.
Now the earth and and and humanity, depending on who you talk to, is millions of years old, billions of years old.
Uh And throughout the history of human beings, no group of human beings has ever produced the wealth, the freedom,
the opportunity, the prosperity, the security, as Americans, the United States of America, throughout human history, is the greatest nation, however you wish to define it in history.
Now, how did this happen?
We, the United States of America are just human beings.
There are countries that exist at the same time we have, there are countries that existed long before we came into being, of course, in Europe and in Asia, Africa, Australia, the subcontinents.
How is it that in less than 250 years?
This group of human beings called Americans has revolutionized everything about life.
We've produced the greatest standard of living and shared how to do it with others.
We have produced a standard of living unheard of and undreamed of, even by people who were alive 100 years ago.
We have produced a country where the occupants, the residents, have the highest expectations of opportunity, security, wealth, all of these things, education, than any group of human beings has ever had.
And I really would like for you to take a moment and when you have the moment ask yourselves how this can be And do it honestly.
How can it be?
And not to besmirch some of these other countries, but just to give you an example.
China, Japan, Russia, the satellite countries, Rome, Italy.
Take your pick, France.
All these countries have been around much, much longer than we have.
And admittedly, people that founded this country came from Europe.
Why were they not able to do where they lived what they did here?
You realize our founding fathers are Brits.
Why were they not why were they not able to turn Great Britain or England into the United States when they lived there?
Why did they have to leave these places to come here, the new world, in order to create this?
Why couldn't they do it where they lived?
As human beings, we're no better than any other human beings on the face of the earth.
We're not any different whatsoever in terms of the way we're born, human beings and human beings.
How is it then that the United States has become the most powerful and for good, the richest, the most technologically advanced, the most industrious, the most productive country in history, in human history, a nation that has liberated hundreds of millions of people from oppression?
A nation that has sharing the wealth, a nation that has rebuilt Europe after World War II, a nation that turned Imperial Japan into a thriving, burgeoning economic power of a democracy.
We are a nation that rebuilt Germany after World War II.
All the while continuing our own growth.
We are a nation that invented so many of the things that have improved the quality of life for human beings around the world.
We are the nation, the one nation that can and offers substantive relief efforts to other nations devastated by natural disasters.
How does this happen?
When we're no better than anybody else.
When we're no different than anybody else.
How does this happen?
The answer is very simple.
Without being too esoteric about it, freedom is the answer.
Most of the people around the world have not lived with the great degree of freedom that our country was founded with.
And you can read it in the founding fathers' ruminations at the days of the founding, talking about the industriousness of individuals and how to promote it for the common good.
You can look at the original true story of Thanksgiving and find out how they tried socialism.
The whole community produced whatever it produced, and everybody got to go take what they want from the production.
And some people figured out after a while they didn't have to produce anything in order to get something.
It didn't work, they changed it.
Everybody was assigned plot of land, grow what you want, grow as much as you and you keep it.
Sell your excess.
Plymouth colony expanded like crazy.
The answer's freedom.
The answer is also that our founding fathers recognize that freedom is part of our creation, and so our founding documents recognize that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, and these are human rights, life, liberty, pursuit of happiness.
We all have these.
Every human being is born this way, with that yearning spirit.
However, depending on where the human being is born, they never get to exercise it.
We and our ancestors had the chance to exercise it, and they did.
And they built.
and And they created, and they invented.
And as a result, the greatest country in the history of humanity became the United States of America.
And it is that freedom allowing each of us to use our own ambitions, our own desires, our own ingenuity, our own creativity unshackled, to pursue our passions, to do what we love, with as few obstacles in our way as possible, certainly fewer obstacles than any other nation's people have faced in their lives.
And we see the result.
We see the greatest country in the history of civilization.
Now we have, why is this matter?
Now we have in this presidential campaign not just Mr. Obama, but an entire political party, which resents deeply all that I just described to you.
They resent the way this country was founded and built because the way they view things is they see that those who worked hard and invented and were industrious and uh indulged their ambitions, did whatever it was necessary to do.
They worked hard, they got up before sun up, they went to bed at sundown, they went to school, whatever it was they had to do to become what they wanted to do, they did it.
And of course, some didn't.
Some didn't have as many ambitions as others.
Some didn't have that drive.
So it's we're all different.
And so the resulting capitalism here that I've just described produced some people whole lot in this country almost everybody does better than anywhere else around the world.
However, when just this country is taken as a subset of humanity, yeah, we have some people who don't do well.
And we also have some people who in our past were discriminated against for one reason or another.
And they were denied at first the same opportunities that other citizens had.
But this country's dealt with that.
And those opportunities, however you want to argue, whether they've been good or bad, the way we've gone about it, those opportunities are now far more available to far more people than even at the founding, even uh 60 years ago.
Great, great progress has been made.
However, Barack Obama, the Democrat Party still see this nation, not as I've just described it to you.
They see it as the greatest failure in the experiment of social justice and economic justice and equality that the human race has ever produced.
It's got to change.
We have got to stop this.
We've got to fix it so that everybody ends up the same.
We can't have people doing all that well while some people don't.
Even though that has resulted not because people have been oppressed, not because they've been stunted, not because they've been squashed, because they didn't seem to have the ambition, they didn't have the desire.
But they're living their lives and they're happy for the most part.
So we have the Democrat Party in Barack Obama who want to take every ingredient that made this the greatest country in the world, and even you who are going to vote for Obama, and even you who are buying into this notion that some people have too much and that we need to take from them and give to you.
You still expect what?
You still expect a grand life.
You expect a life of prosperity.
You expect greater income.
You expect a bigger house, you expect a car.
It's just that you think it's going to come from some politician taking it away from somebody else.
If Obama wins, and if the Democrats implement this redistribution, what they are going to do is destroy the engine that creates all of this opportunity.
And that engine of opportunity will be replaced by a massive federal government to whom more and more citizens will become dependent on their wants and their needs.
And when the idea that you achieve gets punished, then when you earn too much, and it could be a hundred grand, 150, whatever it is, whatever Obama decides, when you earn more than that, then your American dream is over.
The American dream will stop for you at whatever Obama's magic tax increase number is.
And when the American dream ends at 150,000, the American dream is over.
Obama wants this.
Obama wants a large government, passing things out according to what he thinks is fair.
And the end result of this is creating as many people dependent on a state government, federal government as possible, so you'll continue to have to vote for these people.
And what it was that created the greatest collection of human beings in the history of humanity will be altered for who knows how long it'll take to reorganize this and roll it back, because it'll fail.
And Americans who demand and have all these high expectations will keep demanding them and having them.
And when they find out that the Obama game and the Democrat plan doesn't produce it, there'll be hell to pay down the road, but the damage done in the meantime will be severe.
That's why all this matters.
You are still the best resource you have to acquiring what you want in life.
Obama is not your best resource, a government's not your best resource, Joe Biden is not your best resource, Oprah is not your best resource.
You and your family, you are the best resource that you have.
Don't give up the free use of yourself to be the best you can be.
Just for the sake of some change that is actually going to be far worse than you can imagine.
From the Toledo Blade, they keep confirming everything we say about them.
Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama called for a business tax credit to create new jobs, 90-day moratorium on home foreclosures, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Stand by audio about somebody 36.
Here's the last paragraph of the story, though.
Listen to this.
U.S. Representative Marcy Capture, a Democrat from Toledo, whipped the crowd up before Obama took the stage yesterday, telling them that America needs a second Bill of Rights, guaranteeing all Americans a job, guaranteeing all Americans health care, guaranteeing all Americans homes, guaranteeing all Americans an education, guaranteeing a fair playing field for business and farmers.
America needs a second bill of rights.
This traces right back to the 2001 audio we've been playing all week from Obama from the Chicago public radio station, in which it talks about negative rights, positive rights.
The Constitution is a charter of negative rights, meaning the Constitution doesn't say enough about what the state can do for you.
Second Bill of Rights guaranteeing all Americans a job, all Americans' health care.
The government can't do that the moment it tries, this country is over.
It cannot provide what you expect for yourself Once those guarantees are made to every citizen.
Cannot happen.
Has been tried around the world.
Plymouth, Massachusetts.
David, you're next in the EIB network, sir.
Hello.
Pleasure to speak with you.
Thank you for taking my call.
Yes, sir.
Unfortunately, what what really frightens me is that in my opinion, we're already seeing the seeds of socialism flourishing in this country in a lot of ways.
The government owning the banks, a completely bloated welfare system where so many people rely completely on the government, an overwhelmed prison system where so many people rely completely on the government.
The encouragement of illegals to displace American workers and no distinction between citizens and you know residents anymore.
You know, high schools that that churn out more consumers than you know hardworking people, colleges where degrees are worth less and less and less.
And worst of all, you know, a media that would just, you know, hatch at me in front of the whole country if I said this on a on a television show.
You know.
Exactly.
No, you're right.
The seeds are planted, and especially this bailout.
By the way, do you know how much money's been lost in the stock market since the bailout?
Even some people who are for the bailout are now starting to question themselves.
Two point eight trillion dollars has been lost since the bailout in asset value on the stock market.
Uh the value of homes is down 17%, not since the bailout.
Some bailout.
We were told we didn't have time.
We couldn't wait.
We could not wait.
It was a dire emergency.
This was not supposed to happen.
I have been recommending a lot of books lately.
Vince Flynn's newest is out.
Uh good friend of mine here down in uh in Palm Beach, Ted Bell and Czar.
And Jim Patterson, also a friend here in uh in Palm Beach against medical advice.
This was not a mystery.
He writes thrillers and mysteries, but this one uh this one is not against medical advice, and they're all out.
Now it's really all three of these are just um they're just fabulous.
And I know all three of these authors.
They are just they're they're they're great people, and they're they're not for socialism.
Uh here is Rob, Saginaw, Michigan.
Rob, welcome to the EIB network.
Hello.
Rush baby, dido's from Michigan.
Thank you, sir.
Hey, uh, this is how I explain socialism to my daughter.
She's five and a half, she's in kindergarten class.
She uh came home yesterday and said they're gonna vote for the president, and uh I asked who well, who are you voting for?
And she said, Oh, she's thinking about Obama.
Now, I listened to you and she's growing accustomed to your voice.
And I said, Well, okay, well, let me let's sit down and exp I'll explain the difference between the two candidates.
And I go, okay, this is Obama, what he wants to do.
We're going trick-or-treating Friday for Halloween, right?
And you're gonna go out, we're gonna go hit as many houses as we can so you can get candy.
Now, when you come home, Obama's gonna take half of your candy and give it to the girl next door.
And she's looking at me like you can't be serious.
And she's like, Are you is that right?
And I said, That's exactly what's gonna happen.
And she's looking at me and she goes, That's not right, and I said, Exactly.
And that's what's gonna happen when Obama becomes president if he becomes president.
Well, I appreciate that story.
The now can m you mind if I offer just a little criticism without you taking it personally?
No, go away.
No, no, because we want to persuade people this.
It's it's now I know your daughter's five and a half, but she's not going to believe.
Only right now because you say it.
She's not gonna believe it, Barack Obama personally is gonna come to your house and take half her candy.
So she's gonna uh people that would never happen.
Obama's not coming here and so forth.
What you need to tell her, if this comes up again, is to say that you, her father, will be forced to take half of her candy and distribute it to the kids who did not go trick-or-treating.
Oh, okay.
That you, her father will be forced to go into her bag of candy, and then you will have to make sure that kids who did not go trick-or-treating for whatever reason or all, get some of what she collected.
And you tell her that that's the only fair way for her to live.
And then she'll say, But Dad, they didn't go out and do anything.
That's exactly right.
And it's not fair that they didn't And you did.
You may have had the ability and they didn't, or you may have had the ambition and they didn't, but you have to give away at least half of what you produced.
I have to take it from you and give it to the other kids in the neighborhood.
And by the way, I'm not going to tell them it came from you.
They'll never know it came from you.
I'm going to tell them it's from Obama.
Well, this is all this is what.
If you really want to illustrate it, there's a there's a there's another way that you can uh that you can do this to adults.
Because I really I think a whole lot of people don't even know what this is.
Uh and versions of this going around in email spam.
And it's funny, I get I get so much of this stuff.
I've got the guest, I got the greatest spam filter in the world.
Um, but some of it still leaks through some of the stuff that I get, and a lot of it's sent from friends.
Rush, rush, you gotta talk about.
It's not true.
It isn't true.
But some of it is I've gotten one piece of email that has been sent to me by at least a thousand people who claim that they are the ones that this happened to.
Basically here's the story.
You go into a diner, uh fast food restaurant or something.
No, no, no, a diner, and you're sitting at the counter and you order whatever you order, and the waiter or waitress brings you the bill.
But you noticed when you were walking in the diner, a couple homeless people outside carrying signs saying, you know, please need food, please help or what have you.
So the waiter presents you the bill, and you leave no tip.
And you tell the waiter, not leaving you a tip.
I saw somebody outside who's homeless who needs this money far more than you do.
You have a job.
What do you mean?
Well, I've I'm voting for Obama, and I I believe what he says that we need to spread the wealth around, and unfortunately, you have enough compared to the guy out there not working.
So I'm gonna give your tip to him.
Well, you can't do that.
You oh, you watch me.
I'm gonna walk out there and I'm gonna do it.
You don't need it.
Vote Obama.
I mean, there are any number of ways to illustrate this to people.
Because the bottom line is that most of the people voting Obama don't think they're going to have anything taken from them.
They think they're all gonna get it.
And folks, we're all going to have things taken from us.
If you think you are exempt from an Obama tax increase, I dare you to think again.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, here's McCain.
We let's go to McCain.
We haven't had him on the show yet today.
This morning in Hershey, Pennsylvania, going after Obama, the redistributor.
We finally learned what Senator Obama's economic goal is to spread the wealth.
In a radio interview, he revealed this week, he said the same thing that one of the quote tragedies of the civil rights movement is that it didn't bring about redistributive change.
You see, Senator Obama believes in redistributing wealth, not in policies that grow our economy and create jobs.
He said that even though lower taxes on investment help our economy, he favors higher taxes on investment for quote fairness.
There's nothing fair about driving our economy into the ground.
Okay, and here is uh the key line here.
This and this this is I'm glad he said this.
He's more interested in controlling wealth than creating it.
In redistributing money instead of spreading opportunity.
I'm gonna create wealth for all Americans by creating opportunity for all Americans.
Senator Obama is running to be redistributionist in chief.
I'm running to be commander in chief.
Senator Obama is running to spread the wealth, I'm running to create wealth.
Senator Obama is running to punish the successful, I'm running to make everyone successful.
Not bad, not bad, Better late than never, pretty good.
And finally, this.
There's one week to go.
We're a few points down.
The pundits wrote us off, as they have several times before.
My opponent is out working out the details with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reed on their plans.
Raise your taxes, increase spending, and concede defeat in Iraq.
He's measuring the drapes, and he's planned his first address to the nation before the election.
By the way, no one will delay the World Series game with an infomercial when I'm president.
If it doesn't stop raining, there might not be a world series game for a while.
But uh nevertheless, uh McCain uh again getting on the on the on the on the page here regarding what Obama's plans are and and then and uh explaining what Obama's gonna do in a um in a fairly understandable way, which is cool.
Here's Mike in Los Angeles.
Great to have you on the EIB network, sir.
Hello.
Hello, Rush.
Yeah.
How are you?
Listen, I've the I I think the fact the very fact that we're talking this way about the possibility that Obama could do these things means that we're already in a constitutional crisis that that has been slowly building, and we might as well recognize it.
We the Federal by acting unconstitutionally over all these years in little increments.
The federal government has gotten us to this point where we're only talking about how much wealth is going to be we redistributed.
When in fact there shouldn't be any.
It's already been done.
It's it's just a question of how much now.
And we really need to get a grip on this somehow.
We have to get it uh into the courts, or we have to have Congress address.
I mean, really, the we're in a serious constitutional crisis because nobody's obeying the document any longer.
And that's become kind of normal.
Um, we are at a constitutional crisis.
For example, the uh the second bill of rights.
Do you know to just illustrate his point here?
Second Bill of Rights is an idea that originated back with FDR, back in the FDR days.
It is that old.
That is that to give you an idea of how long the American left has been pushing and working to get us to this point where we are.
This is why Obama's associations are important.
Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright.
And by the way, there is a group now that has come up with a big television buy in Battleground States with the Jeremiah Wright video.
This could have an impact as well.
It hurt Obama during the primaries.
It hurt Obama tremendously.
He had to go out and make a speech and throw right under the bus and then let him back on the back door after he threw him under the bus.
Uh but the bottom line is um the constitutional crisis is now reached a tipping point.
We're we have been fending these people off and trying to for 50 years.
That's an onslaught, and they never stop.
And we're this close to having the Democrat Party, which has been pushing all this, to have a supermajority in the House and Senate, particularly the Senate, that would uh render them unstoppable.
Now, the this is another thing that makes it so disconcerting that so many conservatives have fled uh the uh the scene here and have have uh somehow not realized the seriousness of what we face.
But you know, we um we never stop fighting this sort of thing because we want to preserve the nation as it was founded, and people will continue to uh to fight this.
And one thing that the constitutional crisis is is is real.
Uh but I don't think it's worth giving up and saying, okay, throwing our hands up, it's over with.
We sure we need to get the right people in the courts, but we have to can only do that by winning elections.
And there's one coming Tuesday.
We'll be back.
Here's another little example to explain to explain socialism to uh to kids or to anybody else.
It's I, even though this would never happen.
I am handing out candy on Halloween.
No, I this this would never happen, and I know, but but Okay, okay, okay, okay.
You are you are handing out candy on Halloween.
Obama rings the bell on your door.
He says, since you have enough money to be handing out candy, I'm here to take your 401k.
Trick-or-treat.
Any number of ways to explain this.
Ladies and gentlemen, uh, This is uh Carville, Texas.
Belinda.
Welcome to the EIB network.
Hi.
Hi.
Well, that doesn't sound very enthusiastic.
Well, I I'm not a morning person usually, so just not morning.
It's a I know.
It's going towards where I uh I'm waning.
But anyways, my point is on the fact that there's so many ads about movie stars.
I mean, great, they're great people, they make great movies, rock people, whatever.
But there's so much attention on them and not Joe the plumber.
Sarah the waitress.
You know, so and so out there that is actually working day to day, whether they're self-employed in a business.
It gets to me where there's so much focus and money on them people than the people that matter that are working hard, like you mentioned about our forefathers that would work so hard.
My husband is such a hard worker.
We're now self-employed in the jewelry business.
Not a very important thing right now with the economy, but it's what we do.
Ha!
And wait a second.
Wait, just a second.
Don't have that attitude.
I no no no no no.
Diamonds and baubles never go out of style.
They won't they either they either are purchased or they are a dream waiting to be realized.
Well, let me tell you the people.
Yes, sir.
The people that have supported us are those a lot of Republicans, a lot of people that have worked so hard.
What happened is just we fell into uh bad investments and such, and so uh, but we're still working hard.
We're still out there, we're not like sitting there with a handout like hello Obama.
So you're fed up when you see these brain dead celebrities talking about what a great guy Obama is.
Yeah.
And you and you get mad that the media focus so much attention on him.
Yeah.
Well they've explained this over the years.
The media's the the media is just a bunch of groupies like everybody else is around celebrities, particularly if they're Hollywood celebrities or big time TV celebrities, they're groupies.
Remember, politics in media is showbiz for the ugly.
And Hollywood and television is showbiz for the beautiful people.
And the and the ugly always want to pal around with the beautiful people.
In this case.
So they of course plus they think it's gonna help Obama.
That they're they're doing everything they can to push Obama over the top.
Yeah.
There's a big influence, though, or people are just so drawn, those people that think that that type of status is so important.
It's so glamorous, yes.
But you know, you can make your own glamour by working hard, by by making a point in your community.
You actually going out and doing it yourself, not depending on anything else or anyone else.
Uh you know, we we just take such pride in what we do, and every time we're always commented on that we have original stuff.
And that's what has kept us going.
We have uh lived through months and months uh, you know, fairly decently.
Uh but you know, it's again that we work hard.
I don't want somebody coming in and saying, You work so hard, but it doesn't matter.
We're gonna distribute redistribute.
No, that's not work they're not gonna reward you for your work.
They're not gonna come in and say you're working so hard.
They're gonna say you've got too much.
They're gonna say you can do with a little less.
They'll do something.
Look, I'm you you the way you answer the phone here.
Uh, and you think that it's morning when it's coming up on uh two in the afternoon in Texas.
Are you coming out with a cold or anything?
No, I like I said, my energy is just low when when I have to get up during the day for whatever reason I wouldn't I wouldn't risk it.
I would have you heard of Zycam.
Uh yes.
You need to go out and get some to swab your nose.
You can't take a chance.
You sound worried, you sound run down out there.
Uh it we just had a heavy uh weekend, so we just had our our market that we have in the house.
Okay, well, don't take don't take any chance.
Go out and get some Zycam.
If you're coming down with something, you'll stop it right away.
Your voice your voice sounds don't argue.
Believe me, I'm a natural person.
I I I have I get a cold a year, that's all I get.
Well, okay, fine.
I'm just telling if you think you're coming down with one, I think you are.
But of course, what do I know?
Uh I've I would go get some and swab your I'll tell you what else I'm gonna do.
