Greetings my friends and welcome back Rush Limbo, the Excellence in Broadcasting Network.
From the bunkered and heavily fortified EIB Southern Command from behind the golden EIB microphone, it is Friday.
Live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida, it's open line Friday.
Here's our telephone number, 800-282-2882.
If you want to go the email address route, you can do that.
El Rushbo at EIBnet.com.
Open line Friday.
The day of the week we turn the program over to rank amateurs, one of the most eagerly anticipated days in all of the big media week.
A courageous act of benevolence by me, benevolent dictator.
Nobody has the right to be heard in this program other than me.
Nobody has the right to speak other than me.
It has to be earned.
But on Friday, we go to the phones.
You can talk about whatever you want.
It's always fun for us.
Again, the telephone number is 800-282-2882.
You may remember, it seems like a long time ago now, maybe a year or more, but maybe even longer than that.
Every day, ladies and gentlemen, there were headlines in the newspapers all over the country about runaway SUVs doing this, driving themselves off of the sixth floor of parking garages, running off of interstate bridges, all kinds of things, running into each other, running over people.
And of course, the point of the headline, runaway SUV, SUV this, SUV this was part of the environmentalist WACO movement.
They were furthering the agenda of the Sierra Club and other environmentalist wackos.
The drive-bys were, but trying to portray the SUV as a deadly invention, a deadly creation on its own.
But we have been in a bit of a lull.
There haven't been such stories for quite a while.
I mean, it does seem like a year until now.
And so here's our official theme, In a Yugo, Paul Shanklin.
But they drive with pride.
But they drove with pride.
Runaway SUV in New Zealand.
Wellington, New Zealand.
A runaway SUV knocks a man off his toilet.
A Wellington, New Zealand man got the fright of his life when a runaway SUV crashed into his house and knocked him off the toilet.
The vehicle had been parked with its emergency brake only half on.
It rolled backward down a 32-foot bank into the house Thursday in the southern city of Christchurch, according to the press newspaper.
Police said a building contractor working next door had parked the vehicle at the top of the bank minutes earlier.
He came back to his car.
He found it next door, basically.
The paper said that when the homeowner was asked how the builder might be feeling, the homeowner said, what about me?
I got knocked off the toilet.
I got a hell of a fright.
The man asked not to be named because he's selling the house.
He didn't want the incident to interfere with the sale.
How are you going to hide it, pal?
An SUV crashes into your house and knocks you off the toilet, and somebody's not going to see the evidence of this.
Now, see, we don't buy for a minute that this SUV just had its parking brake half on.
That's not the way these stories are portrayed.
These stories are portrayed as though SUVs have minds of their owns.
Very seldom, even when there are stories involving drivers of SUVs in such incidents, do we ever hear about the driver?
We only hear about the runaway SUV, as though the driver is just a prisoner.
A driver is nothing more actually than a passenger.
In this case, this SUV had a grudge.
He either had a grudge against its owner or he had a grudge against the guy in the house that was on the toilet.
Probably this SUV, well aware of the assaults being made on it and its brothers and sisters by environmentalist wackos, was able to understand that the guy on the toilet was using too much toilet paper.
And the SUVs, they don't want to go extinct.
They don't want to be drummed out of business.
They don't want to be ended up in a junk lot.
And so any attention they can cause to keep environmental standards high by keeping this poor guy from using too much toilet paper, this is the way we goaded and made fun of these people.
Police said no charges would be filed in this incident because the incident occurred on private property.
And of course, how do you charge an SUV?
But be patient.
They will come up with a way.
By the way, this next is huge news.
This is really huge news.
The EPA, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Stephen Johnson, has shelved his agency's findings that greenhouse gases are a danger to the public.
This is amazing.
The EPA administrator Stephen Johnson on Thursday told Congress he will initiate a lengthy public comment period about whether such emissions are a risk before responding to a U.S. Supreme Court order.
The move means there is virtually no chance the Bush administration will act to regulate greenhouse gases in response to the high court's decision in the time left in office.
The decision by the EPA infuriated Democrat lawmakers and attorneys who won the landmark case before the High Court last spring.
Henry Waxman said this is a transparent delaying tactic and a major reversal of EPA's position.
Bush administration's recklessly abandoning its responsibility to address the global warming crisis.
Sierra Club attorney David Bookbinder is outrageous.
It is outrageous.
He was one of the lead attorneys on the case.
Now, the spokesman for the EPA, Jonathan Schrader, countered criticism of the decision by saying, look, no matter what is shouted or screamed from the rooftops, this is truly an historic moment.
No administration's taken this step to evaluate this new pollutant.
This is a courageous step.
They just, at the EPA, they just said, screw it.
We're not going to automatically accept the fact that greenhouse gases are a danger to the public.
This affects all kinds of things, from mileage standards to taxes, any number of things.
Can I summarize global warming for you very simply?
We have waxed eloquent on this program for years about global warming.
And it really is about two things.
This whole man-made global warming hoax is about two things.
Number one, it is about empowering government to run more and more of the aspects of private business and the private sector.
It is simply a trick that is designed to get government tentacles into more and more of American business in the private sector as possible.
Number two, the man-made global warming hoax is about turning carbon dioxide because it is everywhere.
We exhale it.
It's about turning carbon dioxide into gold.
For those of you in Rio Lanilla, let me explain that.
Have you heard of carbon credits?
Have you heard of buying credits for your carbon footprint?
Your carbon footprint is everything you use electricity-wise in your home, your car, how many vacations you take on an airplane, your exhalations, and all of these things.
And the man-made global warming hoax says that all of those things are pollutants because carbon dioxide is a pollutant.
It is a greenhouse gas.
So anytime you use any source of power or energy, you are polluting, including when you exhale.
And so what has to happen?
Well, we have to somehow cancel our carbon footprints.
So what do we do?
We pay companies to plant trees to make up for all that soak up all of the carbon that we are exhaling and putting into the atmosphere.
It's simply a financial scam.
It is an attempt to turn something that is as plentiful as any other thing on the planet into gold, into quick cash, doing it on the basis of the guilt that they have made people feel for engaging in this ruinous to the climate and the planet behaviors.
So those are the two things.
That's really all this is about.
Expanding government, giving more control over private sector businesses, and turning carbon dioxide into gold.
Back after this.
I cannot tell you, I really cannot tell you how big this decision by the EPA administrator Stephen Johnson is in terms of economics.
Especially, I mean, this is such great news given the economic circumstances many people think the country is in.
He has just told the Supreme Court, you know, we don't have time.
We're going to shelve this business.
We're not going to automatically conclude that greenhouse gases are a danger, that they are a pollutant.
We're going to study this just because the court says we can do it.
We're not going to do it.
And the libs are fighting mad.
This is huge.
But I have to tell you something.
When Barack Obama gets his hands on the EPA, this will change.
When Hillary Clinton gets her hands on the EPA, this will change.
For that matter, when John McCain gets his hands on the EPA, this will change.
If any of the three potential presidential candidates and one of them is going to win, if any of these three win, this will change.
And the EPA will get a new administrator, and that administrator will be ordered to find that greenhouse gases and the pollutants are pollutants.
We are so shafted.
But we plod on.
Where do we go?
Linda in Louisville.
Nice to have you on the EIB network.
Hello.
Thank you, Rush.
It's a pleasure to talk with you.
Thank you very much.
Appreciate that.
In the newspaper this morning, there was a big headline that said, voters who switched parties this year barred from primary.
Apparently, our Secretary of State decided to tell us that there is a little known state law that forbids people who change their party registration after December 31st to vote in the May primary.
Wait a minute now.
This sounds like a de facto preemptory strike on Operation Chaos.
Yes.
And they said that some 9,000 people have switched parties since January 1st.
Committing crimes.
Oh, of course.
And they said that that law had been long-standing.
When is the, I'm sure it probably has.
When is the Kentucky primary?
In May.
Okay.
And so, in other words, if Republicans wanted to vote in the Democrat primary in May in Kentucky, they had to register as Democrats before December 31st.
Right.
They'd have to switch.
Now, new people who have never registered before can register as a Democrat or whatever.
Up until what date?
I mean, there's got to be a cutoff period.
December 31st.
No registrations for the Kentucky primary after December 31st.
Not to switch.
No, but I'm talking about, yeah, but I'm beyond that now.
The people who haven't ever registered, what's the deadline for them to register before the Kentucky primary?
This is a relevant question for Operation Chaos.
It is.
And it does not say one word about what the cutoff is.
But it also says that that law has been established to prevent so-called party rating in an effort to sway an elections outcome.
Yeah.
So it's an all-out assault on Operation Gas.
We expected this.
Well, I sent this link to you by email this morning.
All right.
I'll find it.
Somebody will.
This is the Courier Journal.
Yeah, the Courier Journal.
Yeah, I'm very familiar with it.
We'll find it.
Thanks very much for the heads up out there, Linda.
You're very welcome.
I love your program, and I wish I could listen more.
Watch it.
But I have to work.
No excuse.
Do you have a computer?
I do.
Well, have you joined Rush 24-7?
No.
I do get the rush in a hurry.
Okay, but that's good.
That's a good first step.
Do you have anything like an MP3 playing iPod or anything?
Well, my daughter has one.
I could probably borrow hers.
Here's what I'm going to do.
Because work is no excuse.
This is too important for you to say, I wish I could listen more, but I can't.
Can't never did anything.
That's true.
So what I'm going to do, don't hang up after our call.
I'm going to make you, Mr. Sterdle, pick the phone back up.
We're going to make you an honorary member, a comp member for one year of RushLimbaugh.com, the website.
I'll make you a one-year subscriber to the Limbaugh Letter, all comp.
We're going to send you an iPod so you won't have to borrow your daughter's.
Oh, my goodness, because that won't fly.
And then the thing you've got to learn to do, and we'll have somebody walk you through it, you can get a daily download of the program in podcasts that can transfer right to that iPod, and you can listen to it at night, wherever you go, in the car.
You can listen to it later, and it's done by at the latest 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
Oh, great.
So no excuses.
All right.
From now on.
Thank you.
You've made my day.
Well, I'm used to doing that, and it's fun to do it.
You just hang on.
Don't hang up now, okay?
I won't.
All right.
That's Linda in Louisville.
Next is Barbara in Logan's Port, Indiana.
Welcome to the EIB Network on Open Line Friday.
Hi.
Hi, Megan Dittos, right?
Thank you.
I'll tell you what I'm really concerned about.
Operation Chaos, or as I call it, the war of the world.
How can you guarantee that this won't backfire and we'll end up with Hill and Bill in the White House again?
I can't guarantee that.
That's enough of my concern.
What if all these votes and everybody's switching over and voting for Hillary?
Next thing you know, bam, they're in there.
Look, this, I want you to follow me on this.
The Clinton threat was going to occur whether there was Operation Chaos or not.
The purpose of Operation Chaos was to keep her momentum going so that the Clintons would not be tempted to quit or that the party would not be empowered more so than otherwise to kick them out of the race.
And it was important that she win Texas and Ohio for this, or at least do well.
And then in Mississippi, cut into Obama's lead.
All of that happened.
But she has, if the Democrats play by their own rules, she has less than a 5% chance of getting a nomination.
There is no way that she can, on the first ballot, according to the votes of the pledge delegates.
And the superdelegates are still cut up for grabs.
There's no way that she can win this.
She says she can.
She's on TV all over the place telling everybody she's in it for the long haul.
Under swing.
I understand, but she was going to do that regardless of Operation Chaos.
Can you hang on?
It's a good question.
People are worried about backfiring, and I want to try to assuage your fears.
Mr. Sturtley, what was the name of our caller from Kentucky?
Linda.
Linda, I've been thinking about your situation in Kentucky because Linda told us that there's an antique law that they've enforced there as part of their attempt to thwart Operation Chaos.
That if you wanted to switch parties and vote in another party's primary in Kentucky, the primary is in May, you have to have done it by December 31st.
9,000 people have done it after December 31st.
According to this antique law, these people are thus criminals.
Now, for those of you in Kentucky, you 9,000 who have obviously been operating under the instructions and orders of Operation Chaos.
And now you're like, oh, my gosh, we've been targeted.
We're criminals.
Nothing's going to happen to you.
Just like nothing happened to us in Ohio.
They threatened all kinds of indictments and investigations, but nothing happened.
And it's not going to happen.
I don't think that they have enough jail space for all the Republicans who switched over.
I know they don't have enough jail space for all the illegals in Kentucky.
And if they don't have all the jail space for all the illegals, I'm sure they don't have enough for all the Republicans.
And besides, as I told people in Pennsylvania yesterday, if you're really worried about this, in the Democrat primary, you can always go out and hire, and you can, in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, go out and hire an illegal immigrant to be you on election day.
Go vote for you.
The Democrats want illegals to vote.
So there are a number of ways around it.
Don't sweat this.
These are just intimidation tactics coming from Democrat-led states designed to manipulate you and dispirit you.
Do not.
Do not let it happen.
This is the big leagues.
Now, we go back to Barbara in Logan's Port, Indiana.
And I have a little bit more time here.
I was up against what we call in real radio broadcasting a hard break.
All right.
Meaning it didn't float.
I had to take it when it comes up.
Operation Chaos, there's always been, in every operation, there's always a chance that the great strategic planning could backfire because there are so many unknowns that take place once the operation's been implemented.
You would agree with this.
Yes, because what I'm hearing from people is they're not really talking about Hillary.
They want Bill in that White House to have peace and prosperity and fun times.
And they want him, and the only way they can get him is to get her.
I understand all that, but Operation Chaos is not about that.
Let me try to explain this again.
The purpose of Operation Chaos and the true genesis for it was two instances or two realizations that hit me like a ton of bricks.
One is that the Republican Party nor our nominee are going to fight the Democrats.
They are not going to be in attack mode.
They are not going to be in.
They want to run an honorable.
I mean, I have looked.
I can't find what the Republican Party stands for.
Can't find any Republican out there trying to take advantage of any of this that's going on the Democrat side.
Now, maybe our nominee shouldn't do it, but there are plenty of surrogates that could be, and I don't see them.
I don't hear them.
This circumstance here, Operation Chaos, was designed to get these two opponents of the Democrat side to bloody each other up since our side wasn't going to do it.
And our side isn't going to do it.
So from that standpoint, Operation Chaos is a success.
And by the time we get to the convention, we've got Jeremiah Wright out there.
We've got Hillary telling lies about Snipper fires telling lies about what was the other big lie that she's been NAFTA and now Northern Ireland, she's been claiming she had everything to do with peace.
When do you hear a story coming up about that?
We are in the process of discrediting both of these candidates.
We are dispiriting the Democrat Party.
So the point is that whoever wins, because we can't really predict, all we wanted was the contest to go on.
And for that to happen, Hillary needed to rebound.
If it had been the other way around, if it was Obama that needed to rebound, Operation Chaos would have been oriented toward helping him rebound.
The whole point of this is to take this out as long as it can to show this party for what it is, to get the Democrats to expose themselves or who they are.
They are the real racists.
They are the real sexists.
They are the people.
Here's Mrs. Clinton running around saying those votes don't even count.
The primary votes that nominated the pledge delegates, those don't even count.
The Democrat Party is showing exactly.
Can I ask you a question?
Seriously, Barbara, just imagine, hard as it may be, play the game with me for 30 seconds.
Imagine you're a Democrat.
But wait, wait, everything else about you is the same.
You care about the country.
You're really interested in the future.
Would either of these two candidates be exciting you?
The flaws that have been exposed about both these candidates?
And I'll tell you something else.
Another added benefit to Operation Chaos is the fact that the longer this goes on, the angrier the losers' voters are going to be.
And a certain percentage of them are going to be so mad at the Democrat Party that they're not going to be able to unify them.
And they're either going to sit out or they are going to vote for McCain.
And if you're worried about Hillary Winanis and Bill going to get, if that happens, there is going to be the long-awaited revolt that we have all hoped for between blacks and the Democrat Party in presidential elections.
Because I will guarantee you, if they take this away from Barack Obama when he's got it 95% won, and especially if they do it on a basis of his wacko preacher, who practices black liberation theology and separatism and hate America, if they take it away from him, there are not going to be just riots in Denver.
It's going to be worse.
You're going to have people on the Democrats get 90, 93% of the black vote every presidential rate.
If they don't get that, if that's reduced to 80 or 70, either by them voting for McCain or not voting at all, huge.
Big time huge.
The point of Operation Chaos is chaos, is to keep this going for as long as possible.
And the only way that can happen is if both these candidates think they are viable and have a chance.
Now, the Clintons, if you're worried about the Clintons, the Clintons were not going to get out, even if she lost Ohio and Texas.
They're not getting out now, and they don't have a prayer legally of winning this.
About a prayer is all they've got.
Not legally.
That isn't going to stop them.
This is what she has lived for.
This is what she's eaten all the excrement sandwiches for in the last 20 years.
This is the payoff for all of bimbo eruptions and all of Bill's philandering and all the humiliation from Arkansas forward.
This is what it's been about.
They're just not going to.
Okay, Barack, congratulations, you won.
We'll unify behind.
It's just not going to happen.
If they have to, they're saying, both of them are telegraphing, these votes don't count.
Let all the votes count, but they don't count.
Clinton's out there saying, hey, can we all just put this aside?
Just let the people have their say.
Let the people vote.
Let's count the votes.
Let's saddle up and let's let it happen.
And Hillary's out there saying, it doesn't matter, Bill, what the people vote.
Even the pledge delegates are not pledged.
So we've got the circus.
We've got the uncivil war that we wanted.
We have every, this has been even better, Barbara, than I dreamed.
Now, could it backfire?
I hope not.
Well, here's my answer to that.
Okay.
I'm not the Republican Party, and I'm not the Republican candidate.
And as I said yesterday, if the Republican Party loses this race and our candidate loses this race, it's going to be they're the professional politicians, they're the campaigners, they're the guys supposed to know better than anybody else how to win elections.
If they can't do it with what's been created in this chaos of the Democrat Party now, it's nobody's fault but theirs.
Okay, I feel so much better.
Well, I'm glad that you called.
Thank you so very much.
All right, Barbara, thank you.
We move up to Salt Lake City over to Salt Lake City.
This is Lisa.
Nice to have you on the EIB network on Open Line Friday.
Hi.
Hello, Raj.
Hi.
I've gained a lot of wisdom from you over time of listening.
And I wanted to share with you that yesterday I went to the fundraiser where John McCain spoke.
Was Mitt Romney at that one?
Well, yes, he was.
Yeah, okay.
And he is a very funny guy.
I don't know if you knew that, but he's very funny.
Who?
But his funny on McCain.
He just had us cracking up.
I know he's funny.
He's crazy funny.
He was very funny.
And he said to things, he sort of gave us a little outline of the things that he felt were most important for him to look at should he become president or the things that he would take as his first priority.
Wait, Are these the things that he would do after he's elected or these are the things he needs to do to get elected?
I'm not challenging you.
What is it that he after he was elected?
After he's elected.
Yes.
Okay.
What are the I'm almost afraid to hear this?
His number one priority, which I agree with very much, is reigning in fiscal spending.
Yeah, okay.
That's cool.
And his second priority, as I understood it, again, I'm paraphrasing, but was the economy.
And he also discussed well that, I guess, is a little bit tougher.
You talked about the importance of not raising taxes for that.
Yeah, but did he tell you how much his global warming plan is going to raise taxes?
Well, this is where I think that actually it gets rather interesting because he was talking about the importance of means of looking for alternative fuels.
And in my opinion, whether someone is just getting tired of going to the gas pump and always reaching a new high when they go there and being tired of funding terrorism or they believe in global warming, regardless, I think it's something all Americans can stand behind, whatever their motivation.
Wrong.
Motivation is key.
Now, let me say something here.
I am all for innovation, invention, creativity.
I am all for this magical new alternative energy that would replace oil.
I'm all for it.
But it ain't there.
We're nowhere closest.
Oil is the cheapest.
It is the most abundant.
As I have pointed out timeless times, it is the cheapest.
It is the most abundant.
It is the most efficient fuel source we have.
It is the engine or the fuel of the engine of freedom and democracy.
Biofuels, there are more and more stories that are hitting the decks here.
These biofuels are just causing all kinds of damage.
They are not cost-efficient whatsoever.
They're using more energy to create them than to produce them than they save in their usage.
I've got a big story here in Norway.
400% more water is being used.
You ought to see the price of rice worldwide.
There are rice, rice, short.
Rice grows in water.
There's all of these alternative fuel sources, they sound so wonderful.
Wind farms, diddly squat.
Solar, fine.
But nothing is out there yet that's going to replace oil.
And the trashing of oil and with such phrases as no blood for oil and so forth is dangerous because oil has led to our freedom and our advancement and our prosperity.
You ought to stop and think about just how relevant it is and how dependent we are on oil, not for wherever it comes from.
We're dependent on oil for our very freedom.
We are dependent on it for our very security.
We are dependent on it for our lifestyle and our ability to grow.
We are dependent on oil for the United States and of the free world.
And there's nothing anywhere near out there that is in quantity or in cost that's anywhere near replacing it.
But, Rush, with all due respect, don't you feel that oil is in large part causing the tremendous issues we're having with the Middle East?
And if because oil is such a well-run machine, it's obvious that I cannot possibly see how, because I would love to tell those people just to take all their oil and keep it and work with other options.
Oh, no.
No, no, no.
Our number one source of oil is Canada.
Our number two source in Mexico.
Well, it is not, the Middle East is not number one or number two on the list of countries that export all to us.
Oh, oh, feel like Red Fox.
Elizabeth, this is a big one.
Look, I have to.
I'm way long half the time.
I am such a Republican.
I can't even tell you.
But I mean, my mind is really open to the fact that I think we do need to be thinking to the future about this.
We always are thinking to the future.
That's the United States.
We're not mired in the past.
We are thinking of the future.
And some of us are trying to save this country's future from people who want to limit its growth and perhaps destroy it as we've known it.
And two people come to mind who will do that, Obama and Hillary.
And there's maybe a third running who would contribute a little bit.
And it really bothers us.
May I have your attention, please, folks, on the business of alternative fuels?
Look at me.
Look at me.
The United States is not a zero-sum game.
Meaning, when somebody gets hired, it does not mean somebody gets fired.
Meaning, when somebody earns an additional $5, somebody has lost an additional $5.
It doesn't mean that it's either oil or else.
The whole concept of the United States, the capitalist system, is the free market.
And the free market is fueled by freedom.
And freedom leads to ingenuity, invention, entrepreneurism.
And what is the pursuit?
The pursuit is profit.
The profit derives from success.
Now, there's some charlatans in our free market.
The people in carbon offset businesses are sharks.
They are pure frauds.
They are convincing people to pay them X amount of dollars for whatever to plant trees to soak up the additional carbon footprint of what is allowed.
Allowed by who?
Who says that there is a maximum carbon footprint?
There is no such law.
There is no such standard because we have freedom.
If you want to have a $30,000 house and a big-ass swimming pool and a bunch of outdoor lights and you can afford it and you pay for it and there are people to provide it, end of story.
You are not guilty.
You are not guilty.
No, you are not.
Just because somebody else doesn't have a 30,000 square foot house, have a big ass swimming pool and have outdoor lights, doesn't mean they're innocent and that you're guilty.
As this relates to alternative fuels, oil is the most plentiful energy source we have.
It's the most efficient.
But while oil is being used and while it is being exploited, the United States taxpayer, ladies and gentlemen, already spends billions of dollars on alternative energy research.
And you can bet that the private sector is investing in it too.
And you know why?
Because we are a growing country and everybody needs energy.
We're not going to stay in the United States if we start reducing energy usage.
Conservation is not the answer.
And so because this free market's percolating and gurgling and burbling out there, somewhere in this mix will come the magical alternative fuel source.
It may not be for 100 years.
It may not be for 50, but it will happen and it will happen all by itself.
If we stay free, oil is not the enemy.
We can peacefully coexist with oil while looking for the miracle alternative fuel source that everybody wants.
But we're going to have to do that while using oil.
