Time Text
Greetings from the Northwest homeland, comrades.
The date is Thursday, July 26, 2018.
I'm Andy Donner, and this is Radio Free Northwest.
It is with a heavy heart I must inform you all that Harold Armstead Covington, founder of the Northwest Front, passed away last week in his apartment in Bremerton from what is almost certainly natural causes.
While we have no official ruling just yet, it is our best guess that he passed away midday Tuesday the 17th.
After over 48 hours of not responding to communications, including several text messages and phone calls, I asked one of our Bremerton comrades to check in on him Thursday evening, which is what brought his death to our attention.
First and foremost, I need to publicly thank that particular comrade.
I also need to thank the other comrades in the immediate area, as well as several others who have pitched in their efforts to assist with the arrangements that need to be made.
Other long-term comrades in various locations around the homeland are already assisting me with a few other important items, and I could not be more grateful to all of those I'm quickly coming to depend on.
Secondly, I have another item which I must absolutely address right now.
For just about every single one of you, this episode of RFN is your first indication that Herald has passed.
Throughout Thursday night and all-day Friday, several of us attempted to make contact with many party associates, as well as Harold's long-term friends and acquaintances, so that we could pass the news along in a more sensitive way.
In many cases, we were not able to do so, and for this, I sincerely apologize.
I'm especially sorry to the Portland area comrades, because while I made significant efforts to dig up your contact information, nothing connected.
There are others who I emailed and called but received no response.
Once again, I can only apologize for not quite getting the job done, but I had to prioritize my time very carefully over the last few days.
Above all else, please do not take the lack of a phone call or other one-on-one contact as a personal slight, since it is absolutely not meant that way.
This process was made that much harder by the fact that we were unable to recover important party records and other information until the Monday following Harold's death.
If I had the time, I would have touched base with every single one of you, but that simply isn't possible.
Obviously, this particular episode of RFN is going to be strictly a sort of eulogy to Harold and nothing else.
Further remarks about the general state of the party and the Northwest Imperative will be made next week in what will almost assuredly be another relatively short episode.
At the end of today's content, I'll remark further.
For now, though, some others have submitted their own thoughts, and I'm very pleased to share them with you.
I'm going to play them back-to-back, so I'll introduce them all now.
First, I'll read a written statement sent in by Comrade Claudia.
Second, we'll hear from Gretchen the Librarian.
Last, we'll have a pair of submissions from longtime party associate Mac and his wife.
Many of you will remember them from RFNs of years gone by.
Comrade Claudia writes this.
I had the pleasure and privilege of spending time with Harold Covington in 2003, when he was living in Centralia, Washington.
I found him to be generous, gentlemanly, and a very engaging conversationalist.
My overall impression of Harold was that he was a true, blue, wholesome American.
It is indeed amazing that Harold never stopped, and never tired of working to preserve the white race.
For his trouble, he was shunned by his family, lived a semi-nomadic life, and was estranged from his children, whom he loved very much.
He was a prolific writer and produced the Radio Free Northwest podcasts and Northwest Observer newsletters like Clockwork.
He did so much for us.
Let us take time to internalize that and be grateful.
Harold never got the widespread appreciation he deserved from white nationalists.
I hope that changes.
As to this day, he is the only man who stood by the Butler Plan and worked every day of his life to establish a homeland for us.
Harold once took the Myers-Briggs personality test at my urging, and his result was ENTJ, also known as the Field Marshal.
Field Marshals are decisive, forceful, and natural leaders.
They have a knack for organizing groups to perform complex tasks.
I have no doubt that had Harold ever gotten all the help he needed to bring to fruition the Northwest American Republic, he would have been a magnificent leader.
I urge all of you not to give up, don't despair, or become discouraged, and to persevere in manifesting the Fourteen Words.
Please, let's make Harold proud.
Thank you, Comrade Claudia.
Comrades, tonight is my solemn duty to contribute to a memorial.
By now, we have all heard the sad, sudden news.
It is news that seems to come out of nowhere.
Sure, we all heard of Harold's poor health, but the fact that he worked up to the end has led us to be both inspired, but also somewhat perplexed.
Indeed, didn't he just send off an email or load a podcast just the other day?
In addition to Harrell's persistence, his greatest gift was his creativity.
This was a creativity that he brought to all facets of the Northwest movement.
His novels contained characters that leapt off the page, and he inspired scouting trips and migration.
This podcast has been another example of his creativity and also his persistence.
This podcast is a long-running series in a movement that tends to be poorly organized.
Harold's last wish was for further party professionalization, a program that we hope to continue and carry forward.
The death of Harold is hopefully but the end to the beginning.
When we look at Harrell's life, we see a man who suffered alienation from family and sometimes associates because of his views.
But he always lived in a bold pursuit of his ideals.
If there are to be critiques of his life, this moment is not the time for them.
But let us say that the best way forward is always a return to the sobriety demanded of the situation.
Harold was a unique, creative individual, but our goal is not to remake him, but to find a road to a more favorable state of geopolitical affairs.
For those of us who would consider ourselves National Socialists, as Harold did, what I always looked to, I always looked to the role models of the H.J. and the B.D.M.
Truly, in those days, the youths led.
When a party member should consider anything in their own lives, they should always consider whether a member of the H.J. or the B.D.M.
would likely have done those things, and if the answer is no, then not to do it.
Harold was the singer, but he is not the song, and is the song to which we should always return.
Now Harold belongs to history, so let us pause to remember him.
I will always be thankful for the opportunity that Harold gave me in this podcast.
Although the learning curve was at time steep, Harold always appreciated the literature that I was attempting to bring to the attention of our various listeners.
And I also thank the listeners for bearing with me through the years.
I hope to continue on this podcast for the foreseeable future and my next discussion will be about Unitarian Universalism and also the sociology dealing with theories of white privilege.
I hope that we can all be held steadfast in our grief by our goals.
Thank you very much for listening and have a good evening, comrades.
Hello, this is Mac.
I am saddened and angered by the loss of my friend Harold Covington.
He dedicated his life to a cause greater than himself and gave his life, in the end, for his people, for future for our children, for you.
There's no greater love of one's folk than to willingly give your life for the greater good.
It saddens me that he left us before seeing his dream of a safe homeland for all white people to live and thrive in fulfilled, and I am angered by those who either fought against him or who gave his cause lip service while refusing to budge in their own lives.
We should all strive to live our lives to the high standards he held for himself, but I fear we are not worthy to walk in his shadow.
Goodbye, my friend.
You will not be forgotten.
We will carry your torch onward.
Harold's humble exterior could hardly contain the ocean of spiritual and intellectual brilliance within.
He tried to teach me to swim, but all I could manage was a walk along his shore.
Forever true to our cause, he never gave up on me or others like me.
His death is devastating, but I find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on.
Arrayed in some new fleshly disguise, With a strong body and a bright mind, the old soul will take the road again.
Harold once confided in me that he believed part of his purpose was to be an example of how one should live his or her life in service to one's race.
The story arc his life decisions created certainly bears this out.
My mind is immediately called to the example he would frequently give of the time he spent at an integrated high school and the moment he had looking down on that school while vowing that someday, No white boy or girl would have to endure any of the things he endured in that school's walls.
His dedication to living out his principles led him all over the world.
I would go into details, but based on the anecdotes he shared, both publicly and privately, each of those episodes in Rhodesia, South Africa, and the United Kingdom could easily be an entire novel in their own right.
In an effort to keep this brief, I will say that Harold has always made the best of adverse situations and almost made them seem as though they didn't really exist.
I would speak further, but the things I want to talk about are not situations most people would know and probably shouldn't, lest I stir things up.
Even so, I bring this up to point out something very important.
Harold showed us how it's done, and after all, isn't making awful situations go away what we're trying to do?
Harold admitted to the RFN audience a few times that he had a number of moments in his life where he outright considered giving up on white nationalism and trying to start life over.
So many of our people have tried that over the years and utterly failed to stay away that he knew better than to try it himself.
And that sort of advice is exactly why I chose to eulogize this theme out of the many themes of his life.
He really did show us how it's done.
Perhaps the most important example he gave us was the time he committed to his own Northwest migration and almost cancelled it because he worried he wasn't ready.
He most certainly was.
And you most certainly can be, too, despite your own fears.
He showed us all how, and now it's time that we all did.
And with that, I'll close this week's program with a few remarks.
No, the Northwest Front is most certainly not dead.
That, in and of itself, is a testament to Harold's capabilities, since many other white nationalist outfits have died with their founder or fallen to complete and utter disarray because of things like this.
But that's not happening here.
Communications for the time being are going to be very slow since we're still sorting through some important digital information while trying to wrap up aspects of Harold's estate.
As I mentioned on my social media accounts this last week, certain things about how we handled online and offline communication are no longer feasible since we don't have a full-time staffer such as Harold.
We're by no means gone, but we do need to get on our feet in a way that is both sustainable and effective for our purposes.
I'll speak more on this next week, but in the meantime, I must make two requests of you all.
One, please go easy on us and understand that we're still operational.
I understand you'll have questions and concerns.
Neither I nor the rest of the party is ignoring you, but we won't be in a position to be anything resembling responsive for about two months by my estimate.
Now, too, because of the world's revulsion for all things moral, especially white nationalism, and because of the unique expressions of the white character problem in that very same white nationalist movement, there will be an unbelievably massive deluge of, well...
Downright horrible things said about Harold, the party, and anyone associated therewith.
Whatever else you do, do not involve yourselves in a back-and-forth with whoever starts it.
It's beneath you, and it's not what Harold would want on his account.
Do yourself a favor and just let that stuff lie.
I understand we're all worked up in awful ways right now, but that's all the more reason to avoid becoming even more worked up.
And when we're done being worked up, we can certainly find better things to do anyway, right?
I'll talk to you next week, comrades.
