15 years later, in 1988, a Florida man came forward and admitted that his giant penguin footprints were a hoax.
It's also worth noting that Sanderson believed in UFOs and other popular conspiracies, but that's another episode for another time.
The most famous Thunderbird sighting of recent years took place where I was born, the great state of the deep dish, Illinois.
And the story goes like this.
Marlon Lowe, a 10-year-old boy, was playing in his backyard with his friend Travis.
Real name of his friend, also no relation.
All of a sudden, he heard a piercing, shrieking sound.
A large mass of shadows passed over them.
The boys looked up and saw two giant, vulture-like birds swooping down towards them.
Travis took off running, thinking quickly, he jumped into a nearby pool.
It worked.
The birds focused their attention on Marlon, who was kicking and screaming.
In fact, he was making such a racket that his mother Ruth ran out into the backyard and, to her horror, saw Marlon being hoisted ten feet into the air.
She watched as Marlon was carried away by two birds, punching at their breasts.
One of his punches must have landed because all at once, the bird loosened its grip and let Marlon fall to the ground.
The incident was even written up in that week's issue of the Boston Evening Globe.
Ten-year-old Marlon Lowe and his mother, Mrs. Ruth Lowe, claim that one of the two large black birds with eight-foot wingspans tried to carry Marlon off in its claws Monday evening in Lawndale, Illinois.
Although several bird experts say that no bird native to Illinois could lift 70-pound Marlon, Mrs. Lowe says that Marlon was carried 20 feet before the bird dropped him when he struck the bird with his hand.
Like a large adult son getting carried off by a giant bird.
Like a large boy, so imagine.
Let's set the scenes.
You're a mother, okay?
Your name is Ruth.
You know, you live in Illinois.
It's Lawndale.
Things are pretty chill.
You're inside watching, you know, this is in the 70s, so you're inside watching, I don't know, Magnum P.I.
or something, and you hear shrieking coming from outside.
And when you run out the back door, you see your large boy Being hoisted, yeah, being hoisted, named Marlin, who's
like being hoisted.
This is like something out of Willy Wonka.
Like you see him just being hoisted up into the air by like two giant black birds.
Yeah, what are the chances that she beat the shit out of her son?
And she's like, a big bird did it.
In 2002, CNN published an article reporting that a group of villagers living in Manicotac
and Togius were reporting seeing a bird so big that at first they mistook it for a small
plane.
At first I thought it was one of those old time otter planes.
The paper quoted Moses Kupchak 43, a heavy equipment operator from Togyak, as saying, Another local resident, a pilot who had initially dismissed the report, said he recently saw the bird from a distance of just 1,000 feet, or 300 meters, while flying his plane.
The people in the plane saw him.
John Booker was quoted as saying, he's huge, he's huge, he's really, really big.
You wouldn't want to have your children out.
He's just, yeah, don't.
Don't have your children out around these giant birds.
These giant birds.
I love the idea I'm gonna have to incorporate this into my Flynn mythology I mean giant birds sort of like picking up children and whales and stuff I mean, there's a lot of good more here that I've been missing out on.
I haven't been capitalizing fully.
Oh Yeah, it seems wasteful.
If you want to disappear a child, it's worth making up a big bird story.
But then make the bird carry away your large son.
You don't need to feed him anymore.
Dads today everywhere are still concerned about these giant birds coming for their boys, as evidenced by this YouTube video posted in August of last year, 2019, out of Fort Collins, Colorado.
So today is August 6th, 2019.
I was outside over here and a big shadow went over the driveway.
So I jumped up and I saw a huge, huge eagle.
So I went and grabbed the boys and they came out and saw it.
And what we saw was at least a 15-foot wingspan eagle.
At least!
And it was wide underneath and it had the tips that were just a little bit black.
So I was like where's my phone and you know you don't think and it was in my pocket.
By then it was already flying way to the north here.
He's got the shine in his eyes.
We couldn't catch it.
I mean it was doing huge mile swoops, circles.
It was gone.
But I'd like to boys kind of tell you what they saw too.
What do you think you saw?
How did it look like?
The same thing.
Like what?
Same thing?
What did you see?
Was it white underneath or was it black underneath?
White underneath.
And where was the black if any at all?
A little bit on the tip.
Of what?
The wing.
Yeah?
And how big do you think it was?
Do you think it was big enough to pick you up?
Two different suns.
Kind of scary wasn't it?
Pretty big.
So show them what we found when we went chasing it come falling out of the sky.
Yep so we have a little bit of proof for our story.
Black Feather.
This is look looks exactly like what it looks like because when you look at them they kind of almost oh sorry they look like they got a little bit of squared off tips on their feathers and that's exactly what this looks like here.
To be clear, he labeled this Thunderbird Sighting Feather Collected.
August 6, 2019, Fort Collins, Colorado.
And both of his boys seem really uncomfortable.
Now, this was posted on a channel titled Center Stars Channel Hollow Earth.
So I think we can safely say that those boys are in for a pilled one.
Yeah.
Turns out Chris had the feather inspected by a local expert and posted an update a couple hours later.
Hello, everyone.
I'm Chris Baird, Center Star.
And it's been over 24 hours since the sighting and I held off on doing this kind of slowed down version of what happened yesterday.
It was just quick reactions after getting home out of the car, measuring the feather.
So I want to talk to you about the feather first.
I kept looking for eagles and all kinds of birds and wasn't finding a match.
But today a guy came up with a bird I didn't even think of.
He said, I believe that that's a raven feather and his name is Robert Mackey.
I told him I'd give him a shout out.
I went and I looked and to my disappointment, but it's perfect.
It's accurate.
This is definitely a raven feather.
So.
In the top link of the description I'm going to post a link to the picture of the Raven Feather that matches this like perfectly online.
Because it's copyrighted material I'm not going to put it in the thumbnail.
I'll just use the original.
Thumbnail from yesterday or something else.
This guy like seems like in really rough mental shape like it's hard to watch like he is not okay.
He's basically debunking himself but he still put Thunderbird again in the title of the video.
This is from August 2019.
This is recent.
This is very recent.
The Thunderbird is alive and well, my dear friends.
I will say, and Travis, surely you agree, kudos to Chris for accepting reality in this particular instance and letting his audience know the truth.
He didn't have to let them know that it's just a raven feather.
That's true.
That's very generous of him.
And it does lend credibility to his Hollow Earth channel, so I will be subscribing and bringing you more content from Chris in the future.
