Females and Suicide Attempts
00:04:52
|
|
| And I asked you what she tried. | |
| You know, I mean, I'm sure you know, but many of our listeners may not. | |
| Females try to commit suicide far more often than males, but males actually commit suicide far more often than females. | |
| For females, it is usually a cry out of pain rather than a real, real attempt to kill oneself. | |
| Thank God. | |
| I mean, that's the last thing we would want. | |
| So the obvious question is, what does she say was the reason? | |
| Well, there's like, it's a real vague stuff. | |
| You know what I mean? | |
| It's like she feels sad all the time, disconnected from reality, and people don't like her. | |
| But that's where I have to check myself because my... | |
| My own view of it is like, I'm judging what she's saying because they sound superficial to me and it's stupid for me to do that, but I had a really hard childhood and she's had, you know, like, maybe it's wrong of me to look at it like that. | |
| No, no, you are allowed to look at it in any way that conforms with reality. | |
| It doesn't solve the problem, but I don't want you to change your perception of reality because of what's happened. | |
| Does she love you or your wife, presuming you're living together? | |
| Yeah, we're really good parents, and I can say that for a fact. | |
| No, I believe you. | |
| Does the issue of the pain that she would cause you ever arise in discussion? | |
| That's just it. | |
| Like, we started therapy through our insurance. | |
| And, you know, when you don't have a lot of money, you go through things and you don't get the best of stuff. | |
| And it's already been brought up a few times about pills. | |
| And, you know, you brought this up, Dennis, earlier this week or late last week. | |
| I can't remember about an article about somebody writing about... | |
| It's on the rise with teenagers and stuff. | |
| And you said that they don't talk about God. | |
| And I agree with that. | |
| And I feel guilty for that because I haven't been to church in like 10 years. | |
| So I feel like maybe it's some of my responsibility because I don't want her to take pills. | |
| I don't think they're... | |
| I think they're lame. | |
| I tried them when I was young and they don't work. | |
| Well, look, it is a real issue that... | |
| Kids today don't have anything to believe in. | |
| They don't have America. | |
| They don't have religion. | |
| They don't have God. | |
| And all they're told is how terrible their society is from its origins and how terrible their future is because the world may not even exist as they get older. | |
| The left has ruined the childhood. | |
| Of vast numbers of American children because everything the left touches it ruins and childhood is one more example. | |
| Yes, I agree. | |
| That's true. | |
| Well, listen, I don't know if I said a single word that helps you, but I do believe that it is important for her to know the pain it would cause others. | |
| And it's not too late to try to bring into her life, and all of you, to bring into your children's lives things to believe in. | |
| Social justice isn't going to fill the vacuum. | |
| For real leftists, it does. | |
| The vacuum left in a post-Judeo-Christian world, post-American world. | |
| That is filled by, I'm going to save the world against fossil fuels. | |
| That's all it's about. | |
| It's not because it's rational. | |
| It's because it fills the vacuum of meaning caused by secular society. | |
| These are secular religions. | |
| Tom Steyer is as fanatical as the most fanatical Christian or Jew or Muslim living or whoever lived. | |
| There is a zero difference. | |
| The human being needs to believe in something. | |
| It is the greatest need after food. | |
