Republicans who Attack the President
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
Here is my clearer moment.
Virtually every attack on the president, especially by people who are Republican or conservative, the never-Trumpers, is about his character.
Why do they focus on his character?
I'll talk about the character issue momentarily, but why do they focus on his character?
If a president is a good president, it is not our business to focus on the character of the president.
It's our business to focus on the policies of the president.
Do you know the character of any previous president?
Do any of you?
I mean, think about it.
It's almost not even discussed.
You know the character of Lyndon Johnson?
You know the character of John F. Kennedy?
You know the character of George W. Bush?
I mean, it's a very complex question, the character of a human being.
You have to know somebody really, really well.
I never attacked Barack Obama's character, not once.
Not once.
I said he was the most destructive president of my lifetime, but that's because of his policies.
I have zero idea about his character.
Truly, I have zero idea.
I have no idea.
Maybe his wife does, maybe his intimates do, maybe God does, but I don't.
He may be personally honorable and charitable in every sense of that word.
And honest, I mean, maybe all these things.
He was a terrible president.
The country is worse off because he was president of the United States.
That's my belief.
Obviously, others think he made magnificent contributions.
Their one example, I think, or their biggest example, not one, is the extending of the government into health care ever more than before.
Every person that I know who was affected by Obamacare has been adversely affected.
Every single person, including family members.
People who have insurance through their company have not been affected.
Everyone I know who had personal insurance, including young people, has been negatively affected by Obamacare.
Maybe I know, maybe everybody that I know that has been affected is a fluke, is an outlier.
It's possible.
But anyway, the Iran deal was a disgrace.
His vote at the end, anti-Israel.
First anti-Israel vote on the Security Council, as I recall, by an American president.
And if you don't understand that that is a litmus test, then your moral compass is broken.
To think that Israel is the villain in the Middle East makes you a moron.
Okay?
Or an anti-Semite.
Not necessarily an anti-Semite.
I said or.
Or a moral moron.
Anyway, why the obsession with his character?
Because all the Never Trumpers can't attack his policies.
That's the clarity that I realized.
What a cheap, cheap, cheap tactic.
It speaks so poorly of these never Trumpers some of whom I really like All of a sudden these people are character assessors from afar Oh, we know, we know his character.
Even let's say you do.
That's what matters in a President of the United States?
What you think of the person's character?
Based on what exactly?
The, what is it, Planet, was it Planet Hollywood?
What is it called again?
Not Planet Hollywood.
The tape.
Access Hollywood?
Yes.
The word planet does not belong there?
I stuck it in?
Planet Hollywood is a restaurant.
Okay, so therefore what?
I can't believe...
No, no, no.
The way you said it to me was disrespectful.
I can't believe that.
Planet Hollywood is a restaurant.
Did you hear the tone with which he said that?
Access Hollywood. - Good.
Do you understand how you don't think clearly if you think that you know people's character by what they say privately?
Do you understand you don't think clearly?
There is something wrong with you.
You are malfunctioning in the moral sphere.
You know nothing about a human being by what they say privately.
