Dennis Prager Show - Republicans who Attack the President Aired: 2020-01-14 Duration: 05:14 === Why Focus on Character? (04:20) === [00:00:00] Here is my clearer moment. [00:00:06] Virtually every attack on the president, especially by people who are Republican or conservative, the never-Trumpers, is about his character. [00:00:20] Why do they focus on his character? [00:00:24] I'll talk about the character issue momentarily, but why do they focus on his character? [00:00:32] If a president is a good president, it is not our business to focus on the character of the president. [00:00:44] It's our business to focus on the policies of the president. [00:00:51] Do you know the character of any previous president? [00:00:54] Do any of you? [00:00:59] I mean, think about it. [00:01:00] It's almost not even discussed. [00:01:05] You know the character of Lyndon Johnson? [00:01:08] You know the character of John F. Kennedy? [00:01:11] You know the character of George W. Bush? [00:01:14] I mean, it's a very complex question, the character of a human being. [00:01:20] You have to know somebody really, really well. [00:01:23] I never attacked Barack Obama's character, not once. [00:01:26] Not once. [00:01:29] I said he was the most destructive president of my lifetime, but that's because of his policies. [00:01:34] I have zero idea about his character. [00:01:38] Truly, I have zero idea. [00:01:41] I have no idea. [00:01:43] Maybe his wife does, maybe his intimates do, maybe God does, but I don't. [00:01:49] He may be personally honorable and charitable in every sense of that word. [00:01:58] And honest, I mean, maybe all these things. [00:02:02] He was a terrible president. [00:02:05] The country is worse off because he was president of the United States. [00:02:09] That's my belief. [00:02:10] Obviously, others think he made magnificent contributions. [00:02:15] Their one example, I think, or their biggest example, not one, is the extending of the government into health care ever more than before. [00:02:26] Every person that I know who was affected by Obamacare has been adversely affected. [00:02:32] Every single person, including family members. [00:02:36] People who have insurance through their company have not been affected. [00:02:40] Everyone I know who had personal insurance, including young people, has been negatively affected by Obamacare. [00:02:48] Maybe I know, maybe everybody that I know that has been affected is a fluke, is an outlier. [00:02:54] It's possible. [00:02:55] But anyway, the Iran deal was a disgrace. [00:03:00] His vote at the end, anti-Israel. [00:03:02] First anti-Israel vote on the Security Council, as I recall, by an American president. [00:03:07] And if you don't understand that that is a litmus test, then your moral compass is broken. [00:03:13] To think that Israel is the villain in the Middle East makes you a moron. [00:03:17] Okay? [00:03:17] Or an anti-Semite. [00:03:19] Not necessarily an anti-Semite. [00:03:21] I said or. [00:03:22] Or a moral moron. [00:03:27] Anyway, why the obsession with his character? [00:03:30] Because all the Never Trumpers can't attack his policies. [00:03:34] That's the clarity that I realized. [00:03:38] What a cheap, cheap, cheap tactic. [00:03:42] It speaks so poorly of these never Trumpers some of whom I really like All of a sudden these people are character assessors from afar Oh, we know, we know his character. [00:03:59] Even let's say you do. [00:04:02] That's what matters in a President of the United States? [00:04:04] What you think of the person's character? === Do You Understand? (01:08) === [00:04:12] Based on what exactly? [00:04:14] The, what is it, Planet, was it Planet Hollywood? [00:04:18] What is it called again? [00:04:19] Not Planet Hollywood. [00:04:21] The tape. [00:04:23] Access Hollywood? [00:04:24] Yes. [00:04:26] The word planet does not belong there? [00:04:28] I stuck it in? [00:04:28] Planet Hollywood is a restaurant. [00:04:31] Okay, so therefore what? [00:04:33] I can't believe... [00:04:34] No, no, no. [00:04:34] The way you said it to me was disrespectful. [00:04:36] I can't believe that. [00:04:39] Planet Hollywood is a restaurant. [00:04:41] Did you hear the tone with which he said that? [00:04:43] Access Hollywood. - Good. [00:04:53] Do you understand how you don't think clearly if you think that you know people's character by what they say privately? [00:05:00] Do you understand you don't think clearly? [00:05:02] There is something wrong with you. [00:05:05] You are malfunctioning in the moral sphere. [00:05:10] You know nothing about a human being by what they say privately.
