I'm trying this . I'm sure you're all God freeing Christian men.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard today's edition of Human Events Daily.
We're here live on Real America's Voice.
Today is January 15th, 2026.
Anno Domini.
I want to go now directly live to Kevin Pesobic, who's on the ground, our field correspondent, Human Events.
Kevin, how are you?
Doing pretty well.
Hanging in there.
Hanging in.
So you were down there, Minneapolis last night.
Walk us through, set the scene.
We got the call in.
You got the call very late last night about an officer involved in ice involved shooting last night, some Venezuelans, I believe, one shot in the leg.
You made it out immediately to the scene and obtained some of the most harrowing footage that I think we've seen since the since this entire conflagration started back one week ago.
Put us there on the ground.
Well, it's just a sad sight to see that we have fallen into this state and the situation.
Last night we had Tim Walz make an announcement to encourage people to do this.
Yeah, we got the call and we, you know, I got in and rolled down there.
Gathered by hundreds of protesters and also a good presence of police.
But yeah, it was absolute mayhem.
It was already tear gas.
There were multiple volleys of tear gas throughout the time I was there.
I got a bunch myself.
Different styles of tear gas and also flashbangs and return fireworks from these lunatic rioters.
And it was absolute mayhem.
And I got to say, Jack, these people just have no moral compass.
It would be good to take note that if anything, when they show concern for others, it's only to relay to people to stop filming, especially during these looting of law enforcement officers' vehicles.
So no word about, hey, guys, let's maybe not do this.
Or, hey, guys, let's go protest somewhere else.
Nope.
Nobody called for any of this to be stopped.
They said, oh, you know, what do you got there?
What's this?
What's that?
And it's really sad to see.
And I got to say, I mean, I just, you know, I just, I was just got out and prayed.
You know, I just started praying.
These people have no moral compass or direction on what is good and what is bad.
It's strategic.
Completely impulsive.
It's completely impulsive, it's violent, and now they're armed, and they were.
They were also doxing federal agents, and both FBI and ICE.
We're going to get into that.
Christy Noam, DHS secretary, spoke about it this morning.
Caroline Levitt as well, getting into this at the White House press conference.
We'll be right back.
human events daily with more.
Nothing will stand in our way and our golden age has just begun.
This is Human Events with Jacksovic.
Now it's time for everyone to understand what America first truly means.
Welcome to the Second American Revolution.
All right Jacksovic, we're back with on with Kevin Posevic there down our field correspondent.
Human Events, Minneapolis.
Last night.
President Trump, finger on the button, of course, responding to all the footage that came out last night, this, these horrific attacks on ICE agents and uh, the other uh, the other law enforcement that was there.
We'll get into that in just a second, Kevin Psovic.
You were there last night, president Trump, talking about insurrection act.
His finger is on the button of the insurrection act.
Talk to me though, about the law enforcement.
What entities of law enforcement did you see there on the ground?
So, on the ground, we had about two dozen ICE agents.
Uh, all in formation, and then quickly followed up by Minnesota Police Department uh, in black, the real black block, and then we also had state troopers.
So Minneapolis police and State Police eventually came out.
Uh, that's state police there in the yellow, I believe, city police in the black there, and then, of course, ICE in the green.
So protesters were actually yelling at police because there were reports earlier in the day that they were not taking calls in potential collaboration with local Minnesotans.
And now locals have begun shouting at them, saying that they feel betrayed, on top of uh, yelling at ICE and calling them every other name in the book.
Uh anyway, these aren't the best and brightest uh, high iq people out here.
Um, as we were saying in the last break they're, they're easily riled up and um, it's a bit of a feeding frenzy with sharks.
You know there's blood in the water, quote unquote.
Um well, so yeah, and and and.
This is what they do.
This is what they do they.
They lose what they do.
Certainly, Kevin now.
Now, if I can.
So this footage that came out, uh, you captured some.
Nick Sortor captured some as well.
This federal weapons locker that was in the back of the vehicle we could see this Christy Noam came out the DHS Secretariat earlier today at a press conference at the White House and said that it was actually an FBI vehicle, not an ICE vehicle.
So that lines up with what you guys are reporting, the doxing of agents by leftists like Mercado, who you filmed a couple of days ago attacking and violently threatening Nick Sordor.
Um, can you put us through though, on the scene?
How was it that this vehicle came to be abandoned?
Are you able to, were you able to see what happened there, that the events that led up to that?
Because we could see the perimeter being formed, we could see the tear gas, but how exactly was it that they were able to get to this vehicle when it seemed like so many officers were there?
Right, that's a good question um, so we have the main intersection where the shooting occurred.
A ICE agent shot a man, attempting to kill him with a shovel, and so they formed a tight unit there on the block under the streetlights.
But what you didn't see maybe on the choppers you could see it was that every surrounding block, about two blocks around in every direction, was also secured by police.
Um, but the FBI vehicles were undercover.
Uh, as you know, they usually roll, so I I wasn't there to see it um, but I guess the protesters did and they saw people pull up.
It was a frenzy of people joining in uh, either for reinforcements on both sides here um, so they must have just simply saw them and then doubled back after one was outside of this perimeter.
So what you're saying is those, those vehicles were outside of the secured perimeter.
You're talking about yes okay yes, and then so the agent.
So when the agents left the vehicle they went over to to to work, to secure the perimeter, but they left their vehicle behind exactly, I got it, so that in total, there so about 50 agents versus 200 protesters, I see.
So at that point when, when they were hitting this because I see those are, those are tow cables, it appears to be that they were able to get on that, I mean, they had, seems like they had freedom of movement here, pretty much.
Did any officers respond uh, within minutes or within any amount of time, to this, to this theft, to this looting of which again includes either, you know, rifles or shotguns that seem to be stolen here?
Did did any agents respond?
It seems, it seems the response came within maybe 10, 15 minutes uh, when they started to sweep.
Actually no, i'm sorry, it was about half an hour really, but after these half an hour started yeah yeah well, they started slashing tires and busting windows, but then, once once, word spread that they found sensitive information as well as these trunks.
So so the trunks obviously yes, the weapons, but also sensitive paperwork, um identification laptops uh, laptops were being smashed And so they're destroying comms intentionally, which is concerning because usually people would just steal a laptop and then what, try and take it to the pawn shop.
But these are just being broken immediately and then also looted.
Yeah.
And one guy, as you can see there, just running away with a rifle.
So yeah, some are dumb, but some are organized and smart about what they're doing.
And they're in full knowledge of what they're doing.
But the thing is, this lack of moral compass, again, Jack, it's really like what like, I think they just do it because they think it's fun, but there's a time and a place for everything, as we see in the book of Ecclesiastes.
So, I mean, if they want to F around, they're going to find out pretty soon here.
And that's what we're hoping and praying for.
Well, Kevin, you know, obviously, Godspeed to you out there obtaining this footage.
Stay safe, stay alert, keep your head on a swivel.
We know, of course, that you transferred and we're in communication.
The entire human events team is in communication with federal law enforcement regarding all of this and the footage that we received that you obtained last night.
Thank you for doing that.
And I'll just have to say again, Godspeed to you out there.
Where can people go to follow you for all the breaking latest in Minneapolis?
You can follow me on X and Instagram at Kevin Pisovic.
And I also have begun writing on Substack.
But of course, follow us on this show here, Human Events Daily, and Human Events at Large.
Appreciate it.
All right, Kevin Pasovic.
God bless.
Give him a follow, folks.
He's down there.
He's in harm's way.
He's on the ground in Minneapolis.
Hasn't left Minneapolis.
But I want to go because there's more research coming out now on who exactly was involved in the initial incident, the inciting incident, as they say, to what precipitated all of this in these operations.
And that was, of course, Renee Goode, this anti-ICE agitator, launching her vehicle, a 2,000-pound, or excuse me, 4,000 pound two-ton SUV at an officer where he sustained internal bleeding.
Julie Kelly joins us now because, Julie, you've been doing some research and you had reached out to me regarding the relationship between Renee Goode and Becca Good, because we just saw the news yesterday that broke that Becca Goode is now under criminal investigation.
What did you learn about them?
So Becca Good right here in the video after Renee Goode was shot claimed that she was her wife.
Oh, you just shot my wife, etc.
She gave a statement shortly thereafter, also describing herself as Renee Goode's wife.
The media, unquestionably, unquestioning, unflinching, reported as fact that really who was the instigator in a lot of this, Becca Good, seen attempting to get into the passenger side there, was indeed Renee Goode's wife.
So I did a little digging, my researcher and I.
We checked a few states where the pair had lived over the last, I guess, couple of years.
No marriage record can be found.
Then we came upon a document where Renee Goode in 2023 asked to have her legal last name changed.
She has been married twice previously, two men, have her name changed, last name changed to Good.
On the questionnaire, it asks, why do you want your last name changed?
She said, so I can share the same last name.
There it is, as my partner.
So partner, wife, obviously two different things.
They are viewed very differently as well, domestic partner versus spouse in the state of Minnesota.
And then, Jack, yesterday, the attorneys who the Good family, Macklin family have hired, Renee's family has hired, also the same attorneys who had represented George Floyd's family, described Becca Goode as Renee Good's partner.
So they are not married.
She is not her wife.
Does this make a difference?
Yes, legally it does.
But it also demonstrates how the media has been so dishonest in attempting to portray this happy family narrative.
They're a married lesbian couple dropping their six-year-old.
Six-year-old does not belong to Becca Good.
Six-year-old belongs to Renee Goode and her ex-late husband who passed away in 2023.
Also, this happy family, and they just stumbled upon this ICE operation, got caught in a crosshairs, and the rest is history.
So we now have Jack, the Washington Post and New York Times, I checked today, simultaneously describing Becca Good as her partner and then as her wife.
So, and of course, keep in mind, there's a $1.5 million GoFundMe account set up to help Renee Good's quote-unquote widow, meaning Becca Good.
And all of this certainly is going to come into question because, look, just having been in these situations before when a family member is lost, crowdfunds come up, these are definitely cases where there are serious legal questions as to who actually should receive the money, who the beneficiary is, who the proper beneficiary is when someone passes away.
And it's something where GoFundMe and Gifts and Go, by the way, are under legal obligations to make sure that it goes to the proper people.
Julie Kelly, we've got a break right here, but I'd love to come back and dig into this with you more right around the bend.
Human Events Daily continues.
He's got a great job.
All right, Jack Posobiec, here we are back live.
Human Events Daily.
We're here walking through everything that's going on, but let me just tell you something, folks.
If you're anything like me, these holidays were brutal.
I'm talking every health habit, gone, desserts, late nights, skipped workouts.
But now that we're in the new year, it's time to reset.
Let's undo all that and make a new year's resolution to actually give our bodies what they need.
And for me and the Pozo family, that fresh start begins with Cove Pure.
Let me tell you something about it.
Here's the thing.
Everyone jumps into the new year buying new supplements, trying a new diet or workouts, but they completely ignore the most important basic thing, water.
Even mild dehydration impacts energy, focus, metabolism.
And when you think about all the garbage that's in our water, you're starting behind the curve before you even begin.
Their ClearWave technology is certified to remove up to 99.9% of contaminants.
Pretty much anything that isn't water, PFAs, microplastics, pharmaceutical residue, fluoride, all gets removed.
It's the purest water you can get.
What I love most about Cove Pure is this.
It lets you choose the temperature of your water.
So hot, cold, warm, makes your water taste so good.
Pure, clean, no aftertaste.
I love this stuff.
My family loves it.
My kids love it.
Donnie loves it.
You're going to love it.
Cove Pure makes it so easy to get pure water with the push of a button.
So this year, make a new year's resolution that sticks.
You just get it once.
It's easy.
Improve your health with clean water, and right now you can actually get 200 off for a limited time if you use my link at Covepure.com.
Slash poso, that's c-o-v-e-p-u-r-e dot com.
Slash POZO to start the new year right.
I want to get back in with Julie Kelly here.
So Julie, you've been digging through on this.
These questions about the legality of the marriage, which apparently there never was any marriage partner, I suppose, is the best thing we can come up for about to describe this relationship.
When it comes to the legality of this, go fund me.
Um, there are real questions as to whether or not her benefit, her beneficiary, would be her widow, who is not a widow, by the way.
Wouldn't it actually just revert to her son?
Then the six-year-old son apparently, that they have, or that, excuse me, that she has yes, I believe so.
I mean, that seems like the logical legal thing to do.
Uh, there's also another wrinkle here.
The father of the six-year-old, Renee Good's, second ex-husband uh, was in the military, in the AIR Force, for about 16 years.
It looked like there's no cause of death in his obituary or stated anywhere else.
However, he talked about on social media and Renee Good did as well that he suffered from PTSD, so we can also we can assume that there are some sort of military benefits either to her if they were still married at the time.
It's not clear if they were divorced or not.
She's not mentioned in his 2023 obituary, but also the custody of the son.
Now, I think, even more outrageously, Becca Good is running around calling this son our son.
Now i'm left behind to take care of our son.
Well, they're not married.
She has no legal right to this son.
Custody of this son, uh, the late father's family is still around.
I believe that the father has been interviewed.
The father-in-law, Renee Good's father-in-law ex-father-in-law, um, has been interviewed, I think numerous times.
So why would Becca Good and this was a day after the shooting she wasted no time leveraging this for her own benefit, helping the media create this false narrative about this family unit that does not exist, now claiming she has to take care of our son, when the son does not belong to her?
Renee Good was not her spouse or wife in any legal form, and yet here she is running around uh, making claims that simply aren't true, and the media reporting it, and without even doing basic research, like we did.
No, they're not, and and Julie to that point as well.
And in cases like this, even even if they had been legally married which, by the way, if they're not legally married, then i'm really not sure where the custody claim comes in.
But even if they were, if the stepmother did not adopt the son, then there still would be no custody claim There, because you need to have adoption in cases like this.
And typically, then it gets sorted out.
Usually the child will be placed with a foster, you know, a foster family while something like this is figured out.
So there's already real questions about how can she have custody of a son that she has no legal relationship with.
And the other piece I wanted to ask you, though, you mentioned the lawyer.
And I'm trying to try to follow the family tree here, right?
So it was her deceased husband's family that hired the George Floyd lawyer.
Do I have that right?
It appears like it.
Well, this lawyer refers to, again, Becca Good as the partner, other family members, I think her children, but her children are way too young to have initiated any sort of lawsuit.
In fact, her two older children, she did not have custody of.
It appears that her first ex-husband or his family has custody of those children.
They're like preteens, I believe, one teenager, one preteen.
Don't know the circumstances of why.
However, so it's not really clear exactly who this lawyer has been hired by, but I think it's safe to assume, given Becca Good's behavior, that she is the one who retained this attorney and not only will try to benefit from this GoFundMe account, but also entitled, she thinks, to some sort of damages as the surviving spouse, surviving partner.
We see media types, even on Fox News, referring to her as a widow.
She's not the widow.
So, you know, but we're told these are people of the highest character.
We should not question their motives.
We should not question their claims and allegations.
We're certainly now seeking what appears to be a lawsuit against the federal government, seeking damages and awarding at least a big part of that to Becca Good.
Well, we'll see how that goes because last night checked, you can't sue the government for criminal behavior.
And if she herself is under or facing criminal liability under criminal investigation from the DOJ, as we saw, which the New York Times actually broke that story that they were trying to blame me on that, the journalists were.
But, you know, good luck trying to pin anything on Posta.
That's all I got to say.
Julie Kelly, where can people go to follow all of your breaking and these incredible scoops?
Thanks so much, Jack.
So declassified with Julie Kelly at Substack X at Julie underscore Kelly2.
I will be working on a piece for the weekend exactly on this Becca Good Renee Good alleged marriage that did not exist.
And more egregiously, the media going along with it to perpetuate this law.
Thank you for the nature of their own.
Thank you for picking it all apart because this is like some British royalty kind of legal family.
I cannot follow the family tree here.
Thank you, Julie Kelly, for doing the yeoman's work.
We write back him events daily.
Hey, Jack, where is Jack?
Where's Jack?
Where is he?
Jack, I want to see you.
Great job, Jack.
Thank you.
What a job you do.
You know, we have an incredible thing.
We're always talking about the fake news and the bad, but we have guys, and these are the guys should be getting policies.
All right, Jack Pissoker, back live, Real America's Voice, Human Events Daily.
Now, there was a story in Axios a couple of days ago that really caught my attention, and I couldn't stop thinking about it.
And it came up at Climate Depot was where I saw it.
And the headline, this is the Axios headline, all right?
The world's great climate collapse.
The climate agenda's fall from grace over the past year has been stunning in speed, scale, and scope.
And this is out of Axios, where they themselves are admitting that suddenly after, let's just say it, 30 years, 30 years of being told that this was coming.
Al Gore puts out Inconvenient Truth 20 years ago, tells us that the C's are going to envelop Manhattan and all the rest of it.
And suddenly, very quietly, very quietly, the climate change agenda just kind of disappeared.
It just, it just sort of, they all just sort of stopped talking about it.
And I even went back and checked AOC's Twitter.
I said, I'm going to go to AOC's Twitter.
I did a little research here, research project for myself.
And I said, when is the last time the AOC has tweeted about climate change?
You're not going to believe this.
It was October 9th, 2024, one month before the 2024 election, which means that ever since Donald Trump won the election, she hasn't tweeted the word climate once when this was the story that she used to rise to national prominence.
I got to figure out what's going on here.
So I wanted to go and bring on Daniel Turner from Power of the Future because he's got the number on these guys.
Daniel, how are you?
Zach, it's great to be back with you.
Thanks for having me.
So here's my question.
We know that under Biden's, you know, the Biden inflation bill, basically, that they got a lot of the green news scam spending was in that.
So here's, so when I started kind of asking this on Twitter, people were responding saying, well, they stopped talking about it because they got paid off.
Is that true?
Or are we seeing the world just sort of leave this scam behind because it was always a scam?
No, it's always been a scam.
And I don't think it's, we can say that this movement is gone, right?
They are in abeyance.
They are keeping their heads down.
But you have to think these are organizations that have magnificent offices in Washington, D.C. and in New York City.
They have staffs in the hundreds and thousands.
Some of these climate groups have operating budgets of $400 million, right?
Your 401k is tied into that.
Your parking spot, your vacation, et cetera, is all tied into this.
They're not going anywhere.
They may realize this is not their moment, but this is an institution and they are not going anywhere.
Now, the movement itself, though, has always been bunk.
It's always been a bunch of lies.
And as you were showing earlier, some footage from Minnesota.
And I mean, can we just pause and say we are just fatigued with, we all have Minnesota fatigue, right?
We're just sick and tired of this crap.
What does the footage look like?
It looks exactly like Ferguson.
It looks like BLM.
It looks like Occupy Wall Street.
It looks like it's the same movement over and over again.
The same message, the same whistles, the same agitators.
Climate was just the convenient thing at that time.
And right now it's not convenient.
So the institutions are not going anywhere.
The momentum is now on anti-ice, but they'll be back.
And that's why, you know, I can't go anywhere because I know they're just waiting for their moment.
Well, I know.
So, and one of the things that I realized too is that AOC is definitely going to start tweeting about climate change again because I called her out.
And I just checked this on a whim.
This isn't something that I was like going through and making sure of, but she went over a year, over a full year without tweeting about climate change.
And Daniel, here's what was so fascinating to me.
Did anyone even notice?
Did anyone even notice that they all just sort of stopped talking about climate change?
And Greta, so we certainly noticed that Greta suddenly, she's talking about Israel.
She's talking about Gaza.
She's totally left the movement that put her on the map.
She was leading these walkouts the same way that we just saw this high school walkout in Minneapolis yesterday.
course, our footage was on the ground.
Our cameras were on the ground for human events.
And you find out that all the walkouts in the high schools in Minneapolis are filled with Somalis.
And then they started brawling in the state capitol.
So that didn't go as exactly as planned as Keith Dallason wanted.
But I do want to drill down on this actually, because I think it's very important that they all stopped talking about climate change and nobody even seemed to notice.
It just sort of floated away.
It was just sort of blown away and they immediately replaced it.
They replaced it with COVID.
They replaced it with the Ukraine war.
Now they replace it.
The new thing is ICE.
And did they ever even realize, you know, do you think anyone's even, because I don't think anyone before this Axie SPs has mentioned it, the fact that psychologically, there's clearly something wrong here when they were telling us that the world was going to end and then they just sort of forgot about the apocalypse.
Well, when is an existential crisis no longer an existential crisis, right?
When it pulls poorly.
Right.
And this was the end of times.
You know what?
I'd love to ask, and you may have a better insight than I do.
I'd love to ask Secretary Hagseth, where are the generals?
Joe Biden used to always say, the generals tell me the biggest threat, climate change.
Where are those generals?
How come the generals have stopped all those assessments that the biggest threat we face as a nation is climate change?
So part of the climate movement's downfall, why it's no longer very popular, is they did what COVID did in a year, the climate movement's been doing over 30 years, and that they were too hyperbolic and too insane, and it never caught up, right?
In COVID, it was kind of easy to be hyperbolic and insane because everyone was petrified.
And so the masks, the plexiglass, and that was compressed in such a short window.
The climate movement, they've been doing this for 30 years, 40 years.
And it's why it kind of falls off with a certain population because you say, I've been hearing this crap my whole life.
Captain Planet indoctrinated most of Gen Z into believing the world is going to end from climate change.
And now they're all in the late 30s and 40s.
And they're like, I don't believe this junk anymore.
So that's part of the downfall is you can't always.
Wait, since you brought up, since you brought up media from the 90s, I got to tell you something.
So my parents are, you know, going through some old stuff in the house and they came across a couple old boxes of like my comic books and magazines and stuff I had when I was a kid.
And I used to subscribe to Ranger Rick.
And I was like, oh, wow, my old Ranger Ricks from the 1990s.
Let me grab a couple of these, you know, maybe get them to my kids because they're, you know, really cool.
I went back and looked.
There's no alarmism in these.
This is like 92, 93.
There's no alarmism.
Yeah, they talk about, hey, you know, if you want to protect the environment, go clean your local lake, go clean your local river, go clean up your local park, focus on that, focus locally, right?
Those were the types of things and messages that were being pushed to kids at that time.
And I think that's perfectly great.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that whatsoever.
And they were talking about nature.
So you could see, and I was reading it and saying, my gosh.
And I bet you if I picked up those magazines today or, you know, a similar magazine, we know exactly the type of propaganda that would be there.
And I said, my gosh, this is exactly what I remember, that it wasn't that the climate was about to be killed.
It was just, hey, we need to learn how to live with nature.
We love nature.
We love animals.
That's what being normal and, by the way, biblical, good stewards of creation was all about.
And so it was just really cool to see those old magazines before all this insanity got turned on.
But you know what?
That doesn't give you power, right?
If you tell people to go clean the lake, if you tell people to give a hoot, don't pollute, right?
That doesn't give you power.
Don't pollute.
Every leftist movement is desperate for power.
So, you know, what does give you power is you talk about climate change and race.
And that is how the Democrats appropriated $60 billion, billion, right?
We talk about Somali theft, $60 billion for environmental justice that went to the Biden EPA.
Now, Lee Zeldin has done an amazing job clawing almost all of that back, but a lot of it went out the window.
What the hell is environmental justice?
Nobody knows, but you can't ask that question because you say black and brown children are dying.
You say this is all racism.
And there goes the money.
And that money is brought to the inner city.
It turns out the vote.
It elects people like Jasmine Crockett and Stacey Abrams, and it perpetuates the Democrat machine.
So that is why there was this huge shift in that you can use the children, you can weaponize climate to get an awful lot of power for institutions that you care about.
That's what we did during COVID.
And that's what you see with all of these movements, right?
It all comes to the desire, the deep, deep desire for power.
That's exactly right.
And now that they're realizing that they're not getting the polling that they wanted, they've squeezed every inch of it that they could get out.
It's just amazing because I can remember being in college and having conversations with, I'm not going to say girls, friends, friends that I had in college at the time, because I know Tanya Tay watches, that, you know, they would, you know, they were so freaked out about this.
Oh my gosh, we're all going to die.
And it's, of course, it gives anxiety.
Of course, it gives all of that.
No, this is completely ridiculous.
And we're living through, it might be the death of the climate change agenda, but I think you might be correct.
And they're just in hibernation.
Yes, off the dome.
Daniel Turner, where could people, where can people go to follow you in Power the Future?
PowerTheFuture.com.
And thanks for having me on to talk about these important issues.
It's so important.
The death of the climate change agenda, question mark, we will see.
But that movement is dormant.
We know they're going to come back.
They're going to come back any chance.
They get right back.
Jack Posobiec, Human Events Daily.
And we're going to turn it around and make our country great again.
Amen.
All right, Jack Pesobic.
We are back live, Human Events Daily.
Well, folks, another year, a new year, and another one of these stories that has just come out.
This really hit us, you know, crossed the plate, crossed our radar at the end of last year.
And this is a story out of Hawaii, terrible story.
A family of a disabled woman has lost thousands in a forged deed scam.
And this is one of these issues where you've got a family, a family member who has disability, her husband, one acre property, title theft.
It's so horrific.
And this is just going to happen just at the end of last year, end of 2025.
So I needed to get Natalie Dominguez on here because she's a title theft education expert from our friends over at Home Title Locke to walk us through exactly what happened because we've been telling you about these scams over and over.
And unfortunately, here's another one out of Honolulu.
Natalie.
Hi, Jack.
Good to be with you guys.
Again, always wishing it's under better circumstances, but these things are really important to talk about with the general public because I feel like this is something we can all kind of relate to, right?
Probably 90% of our net worth as a homeowner is in our home.
And in instances like this, where this disabled woman in Hawaii, you know, she lost her husband, she's got Alzheimer's, she's got dementia.
You know, we're very familiar with that in my family as well.
And in this case, the family is trying to get a legal guardianship so they can sell the home to get care for her because, you know, you can't just live in a house by yourself when you have dementia and Alzheimer's.
It's a very intensive care that's needed in these cases.
And this guy just comes in 16 days after the family got that guardianship and were preparing to go through this process and just swipes the home out from under them.
And they go to the police and the police are like, nope, sorry.
This is a civil thing.
You guys got to kind of figure it out on their own.
And while they were trying to figure it out, this fraudster sells the home quick cash sale for $350,000 when it was worth upwards of $600,000 right out from under them.
So now, is this, this wasn't one of the homes that was affected during the wildfires, right?
Because I know there was a lot of talk about this type of thing during that and Pacific Palisades as well.
Okay.
Because we know disasters are certainly, and it could have been that perhaps the disasters are what put this area on the, you know, on the radar for scammers, because I remember you saying before that disasters, natural disasters do tend to be something that triggers this type of criminal behavior.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
When properties are not being watched, whether it's through natural disasters or it's a vacation home or it's a vacant land, when a property is not being watched and monitored, it is absolutely more susceptible to fraud.
I mean, there was not exactly this, but there was tons of fraud, you know, squatters, things like that happening during the Palisades fires.
A lot of stuff was coming out of Hawaii at the time of those fires as well.
So, I mean, I haven't double-checked it.
I don't believe this is one of the houses that were affected, but it is very possible.
I know there's been a lot of this happening in the last year more than normal.
No, and it certainly seems more than normal.
So what you're saying here is, no, walk me through.
So it was the family was conducting this legal guardianship.
They're going through the process then, you know, going through the affairs, trying to figure out where everything is.
Was it during that process that the home title was stolen?
Or was this something that they had uncovered had already happened?
And then they just realized it once they attained this guardianship.
So very likely they figured out that it had happened.
So the fraudulent deed was filed after they had already gained the guardianship.
However, what this is kind of, in my opinion, from what we've seen, right, from everything that we know, what most likely happened was a lot of these fraudsters will search public record for recent deaths, especially elderly deaths, and then they target those people to take over their home because a lot of the times these houses have to go through probate and able to get back into the family's name, et cetera, figure out who's going to be taking over everything.
And in that process, these fraudsters jump in and do that.
So they, I, I assume that they happen to uncover this during this legal process of transfer because now they're getting ready to sell the home for the mother slash grandmother's care.
And they can't because their name is no longer on the deed.
So that from everything that we see happen in the news that is similar to this, that's usually what happens.
They're targeting someone that passed away recently.
They go through this process and then the family happens to uncover it while they're in the process of trying to do something else with the home.
And it's so terrible.
So over at Home Title Lock, you know, this is the type of thing that you specialize in.
Now, let's say that, you know, for sake of explanation, that the family here or prior to this, the woman had home title lock services.
What would Home Title Lock been able to do in seeing that this title change, you know, that would have triggered an alert?
I already know from our previous encounters, but walk people through the process then if they uncovered something like this.
Great question.
So you got the first one on the money, right?
So we monitor the property, not the person.
That's very important because we're not attached to social security numbers or anything like that.
We are attached to the property itself.
So anything being filed in relation to the property, even if it's something that you're doing, we're going to alert you of.
Second is urgent alerts, which is the second part of that.
And we make sure that as a homeowner, you are getting alerted in multiple ways to make sure that you're aware of what's going on.
And then we have a team that's available to answer any questions.
If it's something that you're not sure of, is this something I did?
Is it not?
What does it mean?
We're there to answer your questions.
If fraud is detected, immediately we jump in.
So we bring it to our legal team.
We have a network of legal professionals all across the U.S. because every state, every municipality is different.
They all require different processes to go through.
So we've built this network across the U.S. to make sure that no matter where the fraud is happening, we're able to jump in and get it fixed right away.
So literally what the homeowner has to do is one, they will have to file a police report if they haven't already.
Police aren't going to do anything.
We just have to have it on the record.
And then our legal team takes over everything at no out-of-pocket cost to the subscriber.
So in this case, we would have hopefully been able to jump in and stop it before the house was actually sold to that Ironwood finance out of Texas.
So Ironwood.
Now, in those cases, then, so, and just for my own edification, is, you know, is it possible to get the title back from one of these instances?
Obviously, that institution, I mean, hopefully didn't know anything that had gone wrong, had known that anything untoward was involved.
Are they under any legal obligation to then turn it back over?
So it's funny that you say that because Scott Midayoshi, who is the consumer protection chair and attorney in Hawaii, he actually commented on this in one of the news interviews and talked about how they've actually seen, and we've seen this as well, you know, in Home Title Lock in the news.
Even if the company that's purchasing the home, a lot of the times they will still continue to go through the sale, even if they know that they're buying it from a fraudulent owner, because legally on paper, the purchase is legal because that person is the legal homeowner on record.
We have seen families try to fight the sales.
I think in this case, the family was trying to fight after the sale had already gone through.
And a lot of the times what happens is they either lose or they settle for far less than the house is worth.
So this house is worth $600,000.
Let's say they settle for $200,000.
Would you be happy with that as a homeowner?
It's like, oh, well, at least I got a little bit of money out of it.
No, you'd be like, this is my house.
This was fraud.
But because there's a lot of gaps in the legal process, most of the time when this happens, they either end up with nothing, like that woman whose home was bulldozed in, I want to say it was Louisiana.
I could be wrong.
It's been a while.
But the woman whose home was bulldozed, she got nothing.
They got nothing.
No settlement.
You think about this too.
You know, a woman, this grandmother with Alzheimer's, the idea, of course, you know, memory issues.
So her memories that she does have are tied to that home.
So you put her somewhere else and they're going to have a whole slew of problems.
Now, they tell people where they can go to get the peace of mind of knowing that theirselves and their family members won't be in this situation.
Absolutely.
