President Trump and the first lady set to travel to Texas today to survey the devastation caused by the flash floods that killed at least 120 people, and questions are mounting over warnings and alerts.
Trump announcing tariffs on imports from Canada of 35%.
Now, an administration official did tell me late last night that the exemptions currently in place for USMCA compliant goods likely will remain, as will the lower 10% tariff for energy imports.
That would soften this a little bit.
State Department employees are bracing for mass layoffs.
Dismissal notices are expected to go out as soon as today, but it's not clear yet how many employees could be impacted.
It's part of President Trump's ongoing effort to downsize the federal government.
A federal judge is temporarily blocking President Trump's executive order ending birthright citizenship.
The New Hampshire judge says he will certify a class action lawsuit on behalf of all the children affected by President Trump's EO and issue a preliminary injunction blocking it.
The Trump administration takes the next step in preserving taxpayer money for American citizens only, announcing changes to five departments that end benefits going to illegal aliens.

It appears a protester fired some kind of gun at federal agents.
This happened this afternoon.
It was a really chaotic scene at the time.
A lot of smoke was being launched at the protesters.
And again, it appears a protester fired back with that weapon.
It looks like he fired at least a couple of times.

We're making it happen because that's what we do, folks.

And I got to tell you, though, folks, I got to tell you, I heard that memo that went down about Jeffrey Epstein and I heard them say the case is closed and we're not going to talk about Jeffrey Epstein anymore.
Well, let me tell you something, ladies and gentlemen, in this incredible crowd that we've got here at Turning Point USA Student Action Summit to all the patriots here.
We are never going to stop talking about Jeffrey Epstein until we get every single answer for every one of the victims, for every person who was involved in this thing.
Folks, do you want to hear more about Jeffrey Epstein?
Do you want to get to the bottom of every single thing that Epstein was up to?
And should we keep demanding answers regardless of where the truth takes us, whether it's to the intelligence agencies of this country or even maybe, maybe the intelligence agencies of a foreign country?

Right now, President Trump is down in Texas, and he, along with our illustrious First Lady, are meeting with the victims of these horrific floods down in Kerrville, Texas, in all the towns down there.
President Trump has decided to throw his entire schedule out because he's going down to stand with the people, to stand with the families, and he is going to be with them because that's what an American president ought to do.
You don't hear the celebrities aren't going down.
Hollywood's not making movies for them.
They're not doing the benefit concerts, these big things.
No, no.
But who's going to be there?
The president, the people's president is going to be there.
And in addition to that, in addition to that, President Trump has also sent ICE out.
They're now raiding all of these weed fields out in California right now, where they're covered with illegal aliens.
And they're going in there with Blackhawk helicopters.
And what are they doing, ladies and gentlemen?
They're finding that it turns out, remember we were told, wait a minute, why is Donald Trump going after these farms?
He shouldn't go after the farm.
Those are hardworking.
They might be illegal, but they're just undocumented.
They're hard workers.
Well, guess what, ladies and gentlemen?
Gavin Newsom just told us, he said, hey, you can't raid those farms.
There's children there.
I said, wait a minute.
Wait a minute.
Children are working on these farms, backbreaking.
You're telling me this is child labor.
What you've done is take trafficked children and put them as child slaves.
You're a child trafficker on a cannabis farm.
Donald Trump is saving those children.
Donald Trump is going in there to save the children that have been trafficked.
Because let me tell you something.
And you know what they say, Kevin?
God's children are not for sale.
Are we going to do, do we have this camera shot?
Luke, do we have this camera shot?
Can we do this?
Can we do, are we going to do this setup?
Because I don't know.

Walk to us, because you've been going, as incredible as she is and as beautiful as she is, folks, Sav has been with the worst of the worst, with the rioters, with the illegals, and you've exposed what they're doing in New York City and all across the country.
Tell us about when President Trump is ordering these raids and the fact that there are children involved in many of these operations, when Gavin Newsom is saying, oh, we can't do it because there's kids there.
What's really going on, Sav?
Take us deep into these operations.
Absolutely, Jack.
Well, I think it's important to remember that hundreds of thousands of children were lost under the Biden administration as a direct result of the open border policy.
So I think that so much happened over the last four years with the illegal immigration crisis that we truly do forget how horrific it was, especially for children.
I mean, these children were lost, and now they're showing up at these marijuana farms.
You have child labor laws that have been broken in multiple states.
So it's so important and so incredible to see these ICE raids happen.
Now the media of course is trying to Let me just say it because they told us the kids were lost.
Those kids weren't lost at all, were they?
No, absolutely.
They were sent to these farms.
They were sent to these labor camps.
They were sent to textile plants and all these other places.
That's why they're getting raided right now.
And I believe the DHS, I don't think we have the picture.
I don't know if we can put it because it's minors and they're blurred out.
They just released a photo of the children that are some of these 11 years old, 12 years old, were liberated during the ICE raids.
Absolutely, Jack.
And I think that regarding all of the illegal immigration reporting that I've done, some of the most harrowing stories have come from ICE agents, Border Patrol agents, National Guard, who have found children thrown in barbed wire by the cartel members who abandoned them at the border because their parents paid for them to be trafficked over the border.
But once they got into the country, it was fair game for these children.
These children were sexually assaulted making that journey into the United States of America.
So these poor kids have gone through so many horrific things in their lives.
And then when they come to the United States, they're working for the cartels and are essentially slaves to the cartels.
The Biden administration, of course, kind of looked the other way for that one.
And so I'm so happy to see these raids happening now and for justice being done for the children who have been lost in these areas.
And so when we look at it from that perspective, it's about liberation of the children, but also, hold on a second.
Who are these industries then that are running these farms, that are running these industries?
Because you really mean to tell me that they're just working, showing up for work there every day and the people running the farms don't know about it?
Of course they know.
Of course they know, Jack, and this is something that's been going on for decades.
I mean, I've been hearing about farms all across the United States of America and also those major factories, a lot of the big brands that we are familiar with in which children are working in these areas.
And like you're saying, the owners of these factories, the owners of these farms know exactly who's working on their farms, or perhaps they're misled because of fraudulent documents that have been bought and sold in black markets throughout the United States of America.
So that's why it's so important that we clean up this issue and continue these ICE raids.
Because, like we're saying, it's not only children that are impacted here, but you also have criminal, illegal aliens that are working on these farms.
Right, Jack, we're consistently hearing from the media, well, if illegal immigrants do not have a criminal record, then they can stay.
Never forget the story of Molly Tibbets, who back in 2018 was kidnapped and murdered by an illegal immigrant who had no prior record who was working on a farm.
This is why we need mass deportations of every single illegal immigrant in this country, because guess what?
Crossing the border illegally is a federal crime, so they all need to go home.
They all need to go.
Molly Tibbets was murdered.
Was murdered by an illegal alien farm worker in Iowa.
Just one, I looked this up.
It was one hour away from the Iowa State Fairground where that took place all the way back in 2018.
So people like Molly Tibbetts, people like Rachel Morin, people like Jocelyn Nungery down in Texas.
And guess what, folks?
It's all over the country.
All right.
This is an issue.
We have been invaded.
We've been invaded.
And the only way that you can respond to an invasion is a liberation, a liberation of the American people.
It's not about how many people we deport.
It's about how many people we liberate.
It's about how many people we set free.
And it's the American people.
It's the patriots.
It's the workers.
It's people who are just trying to commute to work on a day-to-day basis and live their lives in peace and safety and freedom.
That's what it's all about, folks.
That's what this movement is all about.
That's what MAGA is all about.
That's what America First is all about.
And that's certainly what Saf Fernandez is all about.

I have to ask you, look, you and I were both involved in this situation kind of inadvertently.
The Epstein files, the initial sort of rollout, whatever you want to call it, that we were involved with at the White House.
Now this idea that there aren't going to be any more files coming out.
Dan Bongino reportedly, according to Axios, didn't show up to work today at the FBI.
He's kind of on strike, I guess you could say, potentially even walking over all of this.
Do you think this is the kind of story that's just going to go away?
Or should we, as Steve Bannon has called for, push for a special counsel on the Epstein files?
Where do you sit at it?
And why do you think the story has resonated so much with the grassroots?
Well, I think it's resonated so much with the grassroots because we were promised the most transparent administration in U.S. history.
We were given a binder with that exact phrase on it.
And that is exactly what we expect.
That's exactly what we voted for.
And we voted for nothing less, Jack.
Now, we don't want an administration of influencers who are going to get up in front of the camera and tell us exactly what we want to hear.
We want to see the truth.
We want to see justice.
And we want to see accountability from our DOJ.
This is not a story that is ever going to go away because we are not going to let it go away because there were children that were harmed.
This was a very intricate sex trafficking ring that we have heard about for decades at this point, and the American people want answers.
This was a campaign promise.
This was something that multiple members of the administration spoke about.
And to be quite honest with you, Pam Bondi needs to get up in front of the nation, and she needs to address this issue because the fact that nobody signed that memo, the fact that we were essentially told Epstein didn't kill himself, case closed, and there's no client list, everybody move on, is unacceptable and we are not going to let this story die.
Folks, what do you think?
Should we keep pushing on Epstein?
We're going to keep pushing.
Sapp, there's so many people who look at this and they say, at the end of the day, it's not just about, it is about obviously this case, but you take a step back, it's also about who runs our country.
And so we, the people who voted and pushed and campaigned for President Trump have made this a priority, but now it's like the suits in Washington are saying no because of various Washington influences, possibly even foreign influences.
Do you think that's really at the heart of what this is turning into?
Oh, absolutely, Jack.
I mean, it's like the amnesty issue.
We did not vote for that.
We voted for mass deportations.
And for some reason, this issue is also being floated as well because, like you were saying, there is a deep state in Washington that the Trump administration is, I'm sure, fighting back and forth against.
And I have always said this, Jack, that the American people should not fear their government.
The government should fear the American people.
And we voted for the release and transparency of these.
By the way, I just want to throw out, you can see President Trump.
He is live.
He's down there.
I believe this is in Kerrville, Texas.
You can see the First Lady.
They're meeting.
This is happening live as we're on air right now, folks.
So he's down there.
And look at the devastation behind him.
Look at this.
And you know, Jack, I was actually in Kerrville on Monday.
So I did see the devastation that happened.
Heartbreaking and incredible to see a president who actually shows up for the people.
I know all of the people were rallying around.
And just some positive news here.
So many people donated In Texas, that they were overloaded with supplies.
I don't remember Joe Biden ever going down to Asheville.
Ben, Ben, did Joe, Ben Berquams here?
Ben, was Joe Biden ever down there?
Did Joe Biden ever go and do a visit like this?
I never saw him.
And by the way, either East Palestine either.
It took him over a year to go there.
The American people were abandoned.
And the sickest part, we were down there on Friday.
I got a call.
I was actually going home.
It was the first time I was going to be home for the 4th of July in four years.
And I get the call and I'm like, babe, I got to redirect.
I got to go down here.
And the fact that President Trump, Christy Noam's already out there, President Trump's already out there, and the mainstream media is trying to make it like that President Trump did something wrong or the National Weather Service did something wrong when they were abandoned by the previous administration, it's just disgusting.
So, no.
And you see the president down there.
Is that a truck?
Yeah.
That's a truck we're looking at on its side.
That's just completely to show you the strength of this water.
That a truck, that's a semi that's been turned.
You're looking at the tires on the on the triple axle.
So you're you're seeing the truck.
That's the strength of the water that, and I just have to say it, that no child or even an adult is going to be able to stand up to that.
That's the power of water, the power of what so many of those people are up against.
And the reason that so many questions are being asked, and I've been very critical of the mayor down there saying, you know, snapping at journalists for asking questions about the disaster preparedness and asking questions about what was pre-staged, what was denied.
And he's yelling at people over this.
Excuse me, excuse me, you've got hundreds of dead people on your hands, including young girls.
There's going to be questions, and it's your job as a leader.
Show leadership and show accountability.
That's what President Trump is showing.
He's showing leadership because he's down there with the people.

Sav, just real quick, give me a minute on what we just saw with President Trump.
I believe the president is now switching locations.
So they're going to be going to a different location.
So we'll have a few minutes, but talk to me a little bit about what you saw in Kerrville.
And I have to ask, since you're there and you live in Austin now, this fire chief up in Austin, this story that's come out, and it's certainly going viral, where the fire association is saying, hey, we had a request from the state to pre-deploy assets on July 2nd.
It was denied by the chief, who is this guy who, for all intents and purposes to me, seems like a DEI hire.
And you know, you're from Austin.
And they could have had rescue swimmers there before the flood.
What are we seeing about that?
And could rescue swimmers early on have really changed anything down there?
That's a good question, Jack.
And after we saw the devastation of these floods, I mean, you know, having more help on the ground, I think, always would have been a better option.
But seeing how devastating the floods were, I'm not sure if we would have seen, again, less devastation in that sense.
Regarding this Austin fire chief, yes, Austin is filled with DEI hires, and it's very reminiscent of the federal government, right?
We still have a lot of those holdovers from the last four years who are still implementing policy and have been put into positions because of their skin color or because they know somebody, not because they are qualified for any of these positions.
And I think that we saw that with the Austin Fire Chief.
Regarding what I saw down in Kerrville, I mean, heartbreaking scenes.
I saw an entire tree, and this tree is probably decades old, completely ripped out of the ground.
You had people's entire homes and neighborhoods washed away.
This wasn't even just in the Kerrville area.
Also in the Austin area, you have people that are still missing, people that have died.
The death count, you know, I don't even know what the official one is right now.
Well over 100.
Very unfortunate event that has happened, but incredible to see our leadership on the ground to pay special attention to the people of Texas and show that, you know, America is first.
Let me cut it back to Ben Berquam.
Ben, just a minute on that from your perspective down there, and then let's open it up to the audience, to the great and incredible and good-looking crowd that we have here at the Student Action Summit.
God, we are so much better looking than the liberals.
Let me just tell you.
I mean, come on.
It's not even close, Jack.
We were Maha before Maha.
MAGA was always, I mean, you look at the left.
Anyways, I don't want to get off on that, but it was, I mean, what I saw down there, if you haven't been around a catastrophic flood, it's almost impossible to describe.
You saw that semi flipped on its side.
I saw vehicles ripped in half.
It's biblical.
It absolutely is.
And when you think about children being stuck in that, there's no question those questions, as you said, Jack, need to be asked to allow children to be in that camp that close to the water.
The hard thing is, I was talking to the city mayor or city manager, and this guy's a former Army Ranger, and you get to a point once we realize it's not four to six inches of rain, it's 15 to 20 inches of rain, and it's dumping on top of both the north and the south fork.
Once that tidal wave of water starts coming, then it's like, do you tell them to leave?
Do you have them shelter in place?
You end up in a really tough spot.
But to your question about that, the rescue swimmers, these guys are trained for that type of scenario.
They're trained for those situations.
Nobody else could do it better than they could do it.
And to deny that is, it may end up being, I mean, it's unacceptable at best.
It could be criminal.
It's just, it's tragic.
It's totally unacceptable.

You got your business shut down because under Biden for exposing Nancy Pelosi and the hypocrisy of her going to your salon.
You went through that, the attacks that you experienced.
What are the most pressing things, as Jack just said, for you right now?
Actually, it's 2025, and we are still rebuilding our businesses in California.
So it's almost like we've been forgotten about.
So I'm still trying to get around and advocate for small businesses.
And where can people find you?

where all the free love and all the sex and drugs and all that seems like counterculture now is actually thinking for yourself are you seeing that shift the waking up of your generation yes i'm seeing a big shift towards getting healthier also religious like there's a lot of people converting just to christianity catholicism that's something kirk talked about earlier the shift is great i mean we have turning point um a lot has happened with turning point a lot of people are moving to the right and we've seen that in polls we've seen that in the way people voted in 2024.

Okay, so where are you from and why does this matter so much to you?
Okay, I'm from Florida and this whole SA-esque summit is very important to me because Rav and also all of us and Turning Point USA, thank you.
And what I wanted to address was the Epstein.
Number one, I feel that if there's redactions, then what you are actually doing is redacting the victims that are experiencing violence and trauma.
And that's very important.
And the other second thing is we, MAGA, have been trying to change weaponization as well as lawfare.
And we've seen the people suffer from it, especially our president of the United States of America.
And thank God we have him now.
And thank God for you and Turning Point USA.

Yeah, that's a, that's a huge issue for me.
And, but as we get closer to 2026, my focus is kind of shifting towards what's going to come since Kevin Newsom can't run anymore.
And I'm one of 12.
And so I've got 11 siblings back home who are trying to grow up in California.
But as if Kamala Harris decides to run and it could get a lot worse.
Isn't that scary, Jack, that, that we could go from Gavin Newsom in California to Kamala Harris as governor of California?
Don't say that.
I've got PTSD.
I totally forgot.
She, I've just getting over the, the idea of Kamala Harris existing in my mind.
Because Ben, remember I was going to all those, ah, he's doing it.
I was going to all those Kamala Harris rallies.
And that's where we're kept my brothers around here.
We were dressing up as the white guys for Harris and we were going in and we just started to try and it's, I've just, I've just gotten the, the, I've just taken showers that I've got the stink of those leftists off of me.
By the way, ah, guys, it looks like, looks like they're out of the vehicles here with president Trump.
So I do want to see if, um, So this is the command center Jack that they're walking up to right now.

Yeah, this is the command center that it looks like they're going to be going in.
Ah, this is where they're doing all the press conferences when we're down there.
So you think we're going to have a briefing here in a minute?
Yeah, that's my guess.
Well, it's also where they're, they're getting briefed.
Uh, President Trump, when, when, ah, the governor, Texas governor Abbott came, they come here, they get briefed.
This is where the emergency management center, basically everything, all local state and federal agencies are based out of this location.
Uh, and then so he'll get briefed, they'll get briefed, and then they'll go and do a gaggle, a press conference with the, uh, rest of the community.
What's, what's interesting.
Well, it looks, it looks like they're headed in.
So we may get, we may get some coverage here internally.
Yeah, and what's interesting is this is the youth center.
It's the convention, the youth convention center.
And you think about how tragic this is for the kids of, of Kerrville and all of that surrounding Hill Country region.
Well, and you have to imagine that this is, this is their friends.
Yeah.
This is their neighbors.
This is their parents.
This is, you know, and, and, it's and it's summer right you know i've got kids in you know summer camp and we're going to swim camps and swim clubs and all the rest of it and you know a tight-knit community like that now i could see them yeah unfortunately inside unfortunately the uh cell service or the service in there for our equipment is very spotty so it call the cameraman, tell them to get on the Wi-Fi there.
It's free, it's public.
So we'll get that shot back, hopefully.
But yeah, it's producing live, folks.
We're producing live.
That's how we do.
It's grassroots, right?
Let me flip back because I wanted to get, we have Libby Emmons in here now.
Libby, the editor of the Postmillennial, the editor of Human Events, Libby Emmons is here with us, folks.
But Libby, let me ask you just, if you can, to, as a mom, right, as a mom, you know, you have to report stories like this, unfortunately, on an increasing basis.
And we see this collapse of complex systems where, and in many cases, unfortunately, the victims are children.
Now, whether it be the Epstein case, that was certainly a complex system that the victims are children.
In this case, the victims are young girls.
And even in the helicopter crash that we saw, this mid-air collision with a Black Hawk helicopter and a commuter plane days after President Trump took office.
Again, and I was there with Secretary Noam after, as a mom, what do you think about when you're reporting stories like this?
You know, I have to be honest, I find it difficult to report stories like this.
That really started with the Uvalde school massacre.
I found it difficult to get devastating.
Yeah.
And so I'll see it as an editor, as a journalist.
I have to report on these things.
And my first impulse is that I don't want to read these stories.
I don't want to look at it.
I don't want to see it.
But I know that we have to cover it.
Savannah, you know, it's really difficult as a mom to look at this kind of devastation.
It's really hard to look at this kind of devastation.
You know, because you talk to moms all the time.
And you know, from being out there and what they say that it's so hard to see this kind of tragedy and to know that you have to look at your kids and like go on and reassure them that, you know, even if horrible things happen, you're still going to have to get through it.
Oh, absolutely, Libby.
And even as a Texan, I think it was so heartbreaking because we were hearing all of this news happen and break on the 4th of July of all days.
So just to know that all of these beautiful young girls were at this summer camp enjoying the time of their lives and these devastating floods were happening.
Again, it's just, it's heartwarming to see the president on the ground.
It's heartwarming to see Texas's response.
So many people donated that, you know, they had to outsource to other warehouses because there were so many items.
And so we're still, again, searching for missing people.
We won't forget the devastation that happened here, but Texas has really rallied together, which has been great.
Libby, I'm glad to hear that.
Libby, where is our reporting and our investigation going on now?
I just asked Sav about this.
And Sav, of course, being local, is going to dig in more.
But this Austin fire chief, what are we learning about this individual now?
Yeah, I thought this was really crazy.
This is something that you brought to my attention the other day, looking at a fire chief who was more concerned about budget shortfalls and more concerned about whether or not he was going to be getting money back from the state than he was about getting disaster teams out there and relief teams out there.
And the statement I thought that the Austin Fire Department released saying that they had to be concerned about their own community first, knowing that there wasn't that kind of risk going on there, I thought that was just such a terrible cover-up when they should have been sharing the resources that they had.
Because I think the, isn't that the Austin Fire Department is the one that has these super specialized teams.
It's like very, you know, in the state, they have like some of the best equipment and some of the best teams to do that kind of work.
Really devastating that they just didn't, you know, put up and go out there.
And then to find that one of the things that he really prioritized after taking that position was diversity.
The thing about first responders and, you know, chiefs and everybody saying, I really want somebody out there.
You really want somebody coming to rescue you who looks like you.
I don't want anyone coming to rescue me who looks like me.
I can't rescue anything.
I could rescue like a frog out of a pool filter, but I can't rescue me.
I can't rescue anybody else.
I definitely don't want, I want first responders to show up who are strong and work hard and like, you know, can lift things like houses.
So yeah, I think that's, I was really ashamed to see that.
What does it say then that, look, and you know, you guys, that's the mom response.
You know, you're talking about moms.
You're talking about the way moms respond to these types of things.
I certainly know the way that Tanya responds to these types.
Very different for me.
But for me as a dad, right, my response is, whose job was it?
Whose job was it to make sure that this didn't happen?
Whose job was it?
And when I saw that mayor of Kerrville up there snapping at the journalists saying, oh, wow, you're too many people asking questions.
You need to be well-behaved.
You need to raise your hand.
I said, shut up.
Shut up, you little fool.
These people are dead.
These children are dead.
Of course, people are going to be angry.
Of course, people are going to want to answer questions.
What did you know?
What did you know?
Why are we hearing the Austin Fire Association president saying that there was information on July 2nd, which was two days before?
Okay, this was two days before it happened.
And were you on these calls?
Did you hear about this?
And again, by the way, you know, you're an elected official.
And guess what?
This is part of the job, buddy.
Part of the job means you're a leader.
And if you're going to be a leader, that means you got to take accountability.
And that means if this happened on your watch, well, that means maybe your leadership was deficient in this case.
And that's coming from, you know, from a military perspective, right?
And there are cases in the military where people have to resign their command because of things.
And yeah, maybe they didn't have a direct impact on it or they had a direct decision.
It doesn't matter, right?
A leader takes responsibility.
A leader has to take accountability.
And what I saw at that press conference was not leadership.
He was trying to pass the blame.
He was trying to point fingers, pass the buck.
You know, I remember when I was young in Catholic school, we had Sister Janet.
You know what Sister Janet used to say about pointing fingers, right?
What did she say?
When you point a finger, there's three fingers pointing back at you.
Right.
When you point a finger, there's three fingers pointing back at you.
And it's always stuck with me.
I got to tell you, it's just always stuck with me what she said.
Now, I understand, by the way, it does look as though President Trump, I'm getting the message now from the producers that President Trump will be speaking soon here at, you know, here, oh, excuse me, not here, but here within the hour, within just a couple of minutes.
And, you know, I really do hope that we get more of these answers.
And they're serious questions.
And I don't think that in any situation where we have this horrific loss of lives, especially when it's people at the very beginning of their lives, that these questions are inadmissible.
In fact, these questions are more important, Sav.
You know, as someone who's from Austin, as someone who's from the area, I can only imagine what the people locally are saying about this.
Yeah, Jack, I mean, I have a friend whose entire neighborhood was washed away.
And to the point, in Austin, an area a little bit north of Austin, the Leander area, they were really hard hit with flooding.
Like I said, you had people that die there.
You have people that are still missing.
I have a friend on the ground who's been covering the story for the last couple of days.
And he states that there have been no local police.
There have been no firefighting officials that have been in the area.
I don't know.
He's been reporting there, and he's just been stating that it has been up to the locals.
And I think that this, again, goes back to the Austin local government.
They've been this way for a long time at this point.
I mean, back in 2020, they severely defunded the police on behalf of the Black Lives Matter movement by extension that has bled into other forms of our local government.
And then this is the result of the response.
So it's ineptitude.
It is, again, these DEI hires being released into Texas to only further destruction.
And, you know, Jack, to your point, we do live in the first world.
We do expect to have leaders in the first world who stand up, are strong leaders, and actually get things done properly.
Yeah, I was on a show the other day with somebody, and we kind of had this sort of debate about whether or not the pre-deployment would have helped or anything.
I said, wait a minute, you know, if you had had just a couple people who were trained in this sort of thing, who knows?
Those guys could have been going up and down the river looking for certain things that would be at risk, handing out flotation devices, trying to figure out, okay, if this river does flood over, who's going to be the most at risk?
Young children, okay, you know what?
Hey, here's some life preservers.
And look, I'm not trying to, you know, Monday morning quarterback this thing, but guess what?
You do have to take accountability.
And when you have a situation like this, you do have to err on the side of caution.
And unfortunately, people say, it's tough with the DEI issue, right?
But this is why DEI does cost lives all over our country because people say, oh, well, you can't prove there's a direct link.
No, that's the point.
When you change your system, rather than, look, I had to get some dental surgery recently.
When I go to the surgeon, I want to make sure I have the best surgeon.
I don't care what the color of his skin is.
When I put my children on an airplane, I want to make sure they have the best pilot.
It's about expecting the best of the best in these no-fail missions.
And suddenly, after the country has turned really since the Obama era to DEI, more and more of these complex systems are collapsing.
Well, and the thing is, too, that you can't serve two masters, right?
You can either serve excellence or you can serve a diversity mission.
You can't do both.
And you can't expect that by serving your diversity mission first, you're going to just fall into excellence because that's not what's going to happen.
You have to really prioritize what your intention is and what your goal is and then go for that.
Absolutely.
And again, like you guys were just stating, I think we saw the direct results of DEI over the last four years and we're still seeing those holdovers.
So I don't know, people say there's no correlation.
I think there absolutely is, Jack.
And we can see that in the way that our systems have run for the past couple of years at this point.
You know, people want to talk about air traffic control issues, flight issues in general, issues like the response, issues like the response to Uvalde.
Which was so bad.
I mean, which was so bad.
And again, it always comes down, you find this hire, and they say, oh, well, we had a diversity initiative and we wanted to hire this guy who brought in for a certain reason.
And suddenly it always seems to come back to that.
And I remember the case of Uvalde as well, where nobody could figure out who was actually in charge.
And then finally, it was, by the way, the Bortek guys from ICE who said, you know what, screw this guy.
We're going to knock the door down and shoot this kid in the head who's going and went around the room executing people.
And eventually you just do need to get someone to do that.
And I think that as a country, that's more and more of where we've gotten.
That's why it's situations like that that lead people to want to elect a Donald Trump, who lead people who just want to see the darn thing solved.
Yeah, no, I think that's exactly right.
And that's the most important thing, right?
Like planes shouldn't be falling out of the sky.
Pick the pilot who isn't going to make things fall out of the sky.
You know, cops need to go in and take care of kids who are being massacred in schools.
And there can't be any reason that you have somebody who's going to stand back.
It just can't happen.
No, we have this issue as well with this fire chief.
And people said, you know, Libby, you and I were talking earlier when we started looking into this guy.
We said, well, is he woke or is he just, you know, I don't want to call somebody woke if there isn't a track record of this kind of stuff.
So let's look into his background.
And we find, and immediately what we find flying around is, oh, okay, look, let's see.
He fired a chaplain who said he didn't believe that trans should be in women's sports.
He fired the chaplain of the Austin Fire Department over this for writing that, by the way, on his personal blog.
Right, he didn't even say it.
It was just like his own.
He didn't say it publicly.
Yeah.
Then what was the other?
We found that he was responsible as well for cutting these budgets, and he was the one who was pushing more diversity hires on the Austin Fire Department.
Right, so that you have more firefighters who look like you, which is totally irrelevant.
It just doesn't matter if firefighters look like you.
So Sav, you live in Austin.
When you consider the fire response, you want to make sure that if your house is on fire and your family's in there, you're saying, hey, wait, before you go in there, let me just check the diversity quota, right?
That's usually what you're looking at.
I usually Stop the firefighters before they enter my home, and I'm like, wait, let's go ahead and do a skin color match here.
I don't know if I'm comfortable with you coming in, putting the fire out my house if you don't look like me.
It's ridiculous, Jack.
And, you know, to you guys' points, too, about the fire department, police department is the exact same way, which is why you now have people in Austin being told to call 311 for crimes.
I mean, it's essentially turning into many cities.
What does that mean?
It's called 311 for crimes?
Yes, so it's like basically the city service, right?
If you're not being murdered, if you're not dying, or if you're not a part of an active crime, like let's say someone comes and breaks into your vehicle, you don't call 911.
You just call the 311 service because they're so understaffed and all that.
They have this in New York, too.
It's just a service that it's supposed to be like your basic stuff.
If your trash didn't get picked up, you call 311.
Or apparently, if your dog gets stolen, you call 311.
Yeah, you don't call the police anymore for crimes.
