The court also raised the bar for obstruction charges for hundreds of January 6th rioters.
The Supreme Court ruled former President Donald Trump does have immunity for some of his alleged conduct as president in his federal election interference case.
In a novel and potentially consequential case on the limits of presidential power, the justices rejected Trump's broad claim of immunity, meaning the charges will not be dismissed, but said some actions closely related to his core duties as president are off-limits to prosecutors.
Election results in France this morning show the far-right National Rally Party in the lead with an estimated third of the vote.
It does not impact sitting President Emmanuel Macron's term, but it's still a sobering rebuke of Macron who called the snap election just three weeks ago.
Thousands have already taken to the streets of Paris protesting against the far-right as tensions build ahead of the decisive final vote in just days.
Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon must report to prison and he's saying he has no regrets.
This after the Supreme Court rejected his last-minute appeal to stave off his four-month sentence for defying subpoenas from the House January 6th committee.
Bannon will become the second former Trump aide to serve prison time.

They're not able to dox people.
The media doesn't have the authority anymore to really tarnish people as racists or conspiracy theorists or whatever.
And so the next stage is simply to start putting the most effective voices in prison.
That's the next stage of deplatforming, and that characterizes basically the entire thrust of the 2024 strategy.
COVID was 2020, this COVID scam, now it's the lawfare scam.
That's 2024.
And you're seeing this everywhere, from Trump to Bannon, everywhere.
Doug, Mackie.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of examples, not to mention all the January 6th people.
Um, that's simply, you know, the state of play.
That's the position that we're in.
But I think we're we would all be wise to take a cue from Bannon's energy and advice is they're doing this because they're scared.
They're doing this because they know it's all that they have.
And we've just had a number of pretty decisive wins, you know, not the least of which was the Biden debate.
I mean, we can get into this a little bit.
We just published a piece.
I think that some way, you know, we go out on a little bit of a limb.
The piece is called Biden's not going to step down.
Either way, though, in the unlikely event that he actually does step down, they're still screwed.
That's the thing is David Axelrod gets it.
He's not an idiot.
He gets it.
Look, they should have done this a year ago.
They didn't.
They screwed up massively, just like they screwed up putting their eggs in this lawfare basket.
Counting on the words convicted felon to actually mean something.
In an illegitimate system, the words convicted felon only means that you are one of the few effective voices fighting the rotten, corrupt morons in charge of this country.
So they're in total panic mode.
They were counting on these things to work.
They waited too long.
And now they're stuck in a situation where Biden is, in all likelihood, not going to step down.
He's not going to leave, despite what you hear.
In all likelihood, that's not going to happen.
And in the small chance that it does happen, It's actually going to be even worse for the Democrats to have to do a switcheroo at this very late hour.
They're totally screwed and they know it.
But here's the thing, and so Darren, and this is something that Human Events listeners three years ago, by the way, really glad that everybody's finally caught up to the rest of us.
Because again, for those same establishment conservatives that don't want to listen to the actual reporting that's going on, we put out in real time that it was Jill Biden making these decisions.
It was Jill Biden who convinced him to stick with the Afghanistan withdrawal timeline.
She said you have to stick by the deadline.
Doesn't matter what the facts of the ground are, you have to stick with the deadline.
It was Jill Biden who convinced him to not shoot down the Chinese spy balloon until it had left the American, the Eastern seaboard, until it wasn't over, over the American land anymore.
And so they, it flies over the entirety of North America, literally coast to coast.
And then she says, strike it down.
So it's Jill Biden, Jill Biden again, and again, and again, who's making decisions.
People remember the shade war updates that we used to do.

And it's Jill Biden, again, who... This, by the way, Jill and Hunter, no love lost between the two of them.

And so, the one thing that unites the two of them is that she won't let go of the power that she has right now.
She's the most powerful person in the country, in a sense.

and i was working in the china office at upenn and and oh it was she was right she was the one who was at the gala and he was her arm candy because he was already not paying attention back then he was already just kind of out of it this is when he was the vice president and again and again and again this went on and then of course it's hunter biden who finally unites with her and says well we can't have him step down yeah we know why you don't want him to step down on her because he's the only one keeping you from being uh from being locked up yourself completely
i don't mean over some little gun charge i mean from rampant corruption that being said hunter more than willing to cut a deal buddy if you want look at the end of the day i'm still an intelligence officer uh in my dna so if you want to cut a deal if you If you want to roll on Zelensky and the oligarchs and the CCP and the Clinton Foundation and Victor Pinchuk and Igor Kolomoisky, then please, and Zelensky, where does he keep the candy, Hunter?
Where does he keep the candy?
What's going on with the kids and the sex trafficking?
What are the biolabs up to, Hunter?
You tell us all of it and maybe, just maybe, we'll cut you a deal.
Maybe we'll put you in a cell with Steve Bannon.
That would be something to see.
No, I mean, this is totally accurate.
And, you know, I love to see it.
It's just, it's, uh, it's such a delicious clown show at the moment to see a figure like, you know, uh, glorified, uh, you know, deranged soccer mom, Jill Biden become the Yoko Ono of the Democrat Party.
It's, it's really wonderful to see.
And, you know, it's not just her and Hunter and the Biden family.
You know, we make the point in this piece is that, You know, for the Democrat Party, more generally, at least in terms of the DNC and structure like this, there are a lot of people whose political fates are intertwined with that of Biden.
And these would be the people who would have to basically make moves in terms of getting rid of Biden.
So very few people whose interests actually It don't align with Biden remaining in there, including, you know, the inner circle and everything.
And so you're asking people to put this concept of the greater good of the country, which is, you know, not even a concept to these Democrats before their own immediate political ambitions.
And that's simply a nonstarter.
So that, I think, is just the configuration of the race at the moment.
And unless something really extreme happens, far more extreme than the debate performance or any of the chatter you hear, Biden's going to stick it out through the election.
And that's a great thing.
And that's what it comes down to, folks.
That's what it comes down to, folks, that Biden, even if they switch him out, and I keep saying this again and again, who are you going to put up that would even hold a candle, by the way, right now?
It would look so disgusting.
It would look so ridiculous.
They put themselves in a position where Now they're openly calling for overturning their own democracy, right?
This is how democracy dies, or this is what democracy looks like.
Oh wait, no, we haven't held a vote, but we're just gonna get rid of our candidate and put in someone who's completely unelected.

Explain that side of it to me, because I feel like my issue has more to do with the people on the right or in the center than it does on the left, because the left is completely open about what they want.

It's revelatory what we've seen on Twitter in reaction to this Supreme Court case.
Permutations really of the same basic and not particularly clever idea that, oh, no, Biden should use SEAL Team 6 to assassinate Trump.
And, you know, it is an expression.
I understand they're being facetious, but it is nonetheless an expression of the it.
It's an expression of their subconscious, basically a realization that everything would be so much easier for them if Biden really did make use of SEAL Team 6 or whoever they have at their disposal to Terrence Yeeke people in that fashion. basically a realization that everything would be so much easier That would make their problems go away.
They've tried everything else.
So it's a very dangerous moment in the country for that reason.
I would say, you know, you can switch up the tweet.
And Biden arguably has an even worse enemy now in the media.
And that's another dimension of this Biden step down PR issue that we've seen is that this is a rare occasion in which the mainstream media, the fake news media is actually at odds with much of the establishment of the Democrat the fake news media is actually at odds with much of
You see prominent Democrats like at least publicly people like Obama, Clinton, some of the big donors like Reid Hoffman, Axelrod and, you know, the real top guys come out Clinton.
come out and say, look, Biden's the guy.
We're stuck with him for better or worse.
That's the reality, which basically reflects the analysis that we did.
And then you have the New York Times and basically every member of the commentariat going hardcore, telling Biden to step down.
Now, there's a number of reasons for this.
Partly, I think, you know, this is just so interesting along a number of dimensions.
First of all, to see this sort of intra-regime clash between the Democrats and the media, be very interesting to see who comes out ahead in that power struggle.
I I've put out I think Biden's going to stay and the Democrats are going to get the better of the media, which is nice to see.
And for that matter, maybe Biden can use his immunity.
I hope he doesn't, but I hope he doesn't use his immunity to launch airstrikes in The New York Times, which is proven to be an even worse enemy at the moment than Trump.
So it's a very interesting thing to see play out with the media.
And I think from the media's standpoint, there is.
But Darren, Darren, it's.
This is the thing.
And you're right.
I'm 100 percent right on the media side.
Oh, go ahead.
Go ahead.
All right.
One more point about the media is the media.
Part of what's going on here is I wouldn't give them enough credit to even say it's a guilty conscience.
But it is a kind of cover your ass insurance thing, because the whole reason that they're in this position to begin with this supremely unenviable position that they waited too late and now they're stuck no matter what is.
is that the media gaslit their own people.
Talk about gassing your own people, the lies about Assad.
The media gaslit their own people.
They didn't gas there.
They gaslit their own people.
Because there's nobody as gullible as these liberal elites that go to the media and they say, yeah, that's just a right-wing conspiracy that Biden's half-brain dead.
If the media hadn't gaslit their own people in this fashion, maybe they would have corrected the problem when it was still correctable a year ago.
But the media led the Democrats into this trap, which is just a glorious part of the whole situation.
The media is responsible for this, through their lies.
And you can see this in the interesting shift of people like Joe Scarborough, the most shameless of propagandists, they realize that they're at fault.
They gaslit their own people, and this is their insurance policy, too little, too late to pretend like now they're the responsible ones, and they're calling attention and even calling for Biden to step down.
They're caught with their pants down.
The media screwed their own election this time, and it's wonderful to see.
And the problem here, though, the problem that I continue to see is that you have a left that's getting increasingly more feral than the other.
The feral dogs of the Biden family have infected their entire side.
By the way, I love watching the fallout that they're calling for Ron Klain.
They're calling for all the advisors to be fired.
They're saying it's your fault.
It's not our fault.
We're going to get out.
And yet you still have those on our side with victory sitting right there and staring you in the face!
Staring you in the face!
Just walk over and pick it up.
Just pick up the victory.
All you have to do is take a few more steps.
Crush these people, and then you will have actual victory.
But then you've got people at our show, oh Jack, oh Darren, some of that language is a little bit naughty.
Some of those thoughts are a little bit untoward.
And that's what I'm trying to understand, Darren, is that there will still be people.
Even as late in the hour as we are, we are on the goal line.
It is the fourth Well, look, I think there are a lot of variables working in our favor.
I think at the moment, the election is Trump's to lose.
He's doing great.
up with reasons that we should let the other side win.
Darren, what, what, because I'm sitting here, I'm going no mercy for traitors.
What, what, what, what should we do?
What should we do with them?
Well, look, I think there are a lot of variables working in our favor.
I think at the moment, the election is Trump's to lose.

The wind's at his back.
But, you know, it's not something to be complacent about.
It's not a shoo-in.
You'd think it should be a shoo-in, given how bad it is for the Democrats, but they still have a lot of structural aspects on their side.
So it's not time to let up.
It's time to push forward with more energy than ever.
And I think the people who really need to do that are doing that, and we're up to the task now.
I think it's looking good.
We just have to keep moving, keep pushing forward, keep fighting.
I think it's I think you might call it an interregnum.
Steve Bannon prison, get invigorated by it.
There's, you know, there are only a few months left.
And this is going to be so beautiful.
If Trump going back to the White House after that, you know, intermediate term with Biden, you know, this is this is the stuff of of of legends for him to come back.

Look to the future and savor the idea of Trump going back into the White House and the meltdowns, and of course, the retribution.

I guess something happened with the security detail this morning over at Danbury because nobody seemed to know how to deal with those protesters with Steve, but a great example of what I was able to do when you were doing your hit for Bannon.
And I just happened to be there, talked to the guy, and I used my conversational skills and used the Jedi mind tricks to walk them out of the shot so they weren't able to scream traitor and all the rest while you were going off.
Real quick, though, were you in any way surprised from the 6-3 decision today on presidential immunity?
Not at all.
And I knew it was coming, and we've been predicting it's coming on your show and other shows.
Because think about what the alternative would have been if you don't have Presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for your official acts as the President of the United States.
You're going to destroy the presidency and therefore destroy the country.
And that was very clear several months ago at the Supreme Court's oral arguments that the Supreme Court understood that very well.
You heard Justice Kavanaugh Asking those questions about, you know, can the Trump 47 Justice Department prosecute President Obama for capital murder for ordering an extrajudicial drone strike on two American citizens, including a minor?
Can the Trump 47 Justice Department prosecute President Biden for his illegal mass parole of over 10 million illegal immigrants into our country and the resulting violent crimes?
Can the Trump 47 Justice Department to be bipartisan, prosecute George W. Bush for lying about weapons of mass destruction and the resulting deaths of hundreds of thousands of people in Iraq.
We just cannot go down this path as a country.
We're not going to become a third world Marxist hellhole.
And six justices on the Supreme Court understood that very well.
Frankly, this should have been nine to nothing.
Those liberal justices are partisan hacks.
There's no question they would have ruled the other way if President Biden instead of President Trump were the party on this case.
So in response to this, I'm now seeing people, there's a steady stream, by the way, coming in.
You've got leftists openly calling for drone strikes on Mar-a-Lago.
They're openly calling for assassinations to be ordered of President Trump by SEAL Team 6.
Justice Sotomayor, of course, actually mentions this in her own dissent.
Justice Sotomayor with her room temperature IQ over there putting this out.
And then people are even calling, I'm starting to see now tweets calling for the assassination of the justices themselves.
Mike Davis, walk us through this.
Can the president just openly order the assassination of political rivals now?
No, that's insane.
They're not under, I see you have Bradley Moss up there, this third tier employment lawyer who thinks he's a constitutional scholar now.
So I don't know if he's deluded himself into believing that, but this guy's a joke.
But I would say this, you have to look at the Chief Justice, certainly no MAGA warrior.
I've never seen Chief Justice John Roberts wear a MAGA hat, ever.
But I would say this, if you look at how the Supreme Court ruled, they said that there is absolute immunity when you're dealing with the president's core constitutional functions.
Like, for example, contemplating firing one of your cabinet officials, like Jack Smith put in his indictment of President Trump.
That's absolutely immune.
And then you have presumptive immunity for all other official acts.
The Supreme Court pointed out when President Trump tried to put pressure on Vice President Pence to not certify the election.
That's presumptively immune.
And then what can happen is the prosecutor can rebut that presumption with evidence that the president, that by prosecuting the president, it's not going to cut the legs out of the presidency is essentially what they're holding.
The Supreme Court is making sure that we have a strong presidency.
And this is so much bigger than Donald Trump.
This is about the destruction of the presidency and therefore the destruction of our country.
And so that's what the Supreme Court is making sure does not happen with these bogus political prosecutions by Biden. - I don't know.
As you're speaking here, I've pulled up Sotomayor's descent and some of the key lines, and people have seen the Seal Team 6 line, which is just completely insane.
But I'll read to some people this.
Today's decision to grant former presidents criminal immunity reshapes the institution of the presidency.
It makes a mockery of the principle that no man is above the law.
Presidents could now take bribes and assassinate political opponents without being prosecuted.
And the president is now a king above the law.
Without fear for our democracy, I dissent.
Is she actually that stupid?
I'm just going to ask, right?
Because I'm not a lawyer, I'm not a constitutional scholar.
Is she actually that dumb to think that this decision affects all of those things that she just said?
That it removes the impeachment power?
By the way, it only offers partial immunity Both.
Just is she that is she playing to an audience, which I totally understand, because that's something that the left does all the time?
Or is she just personally that absolutely stupid?
Both.
And I would say this.
Justice Sotomayor reminds me of one of my aunts who I disagree with constantly.
I still I still love her.
I still love my aunt, but I disagree with her constantly.
But she's not the smartest person that I've ever had a debate with.
And I think that Justice Sotomayor is kind of in that camp.
She's she's actually personally a very lovable person.
She's like a.
So she's, this is like the rantings of a liberal wine aunt.
Like this is the rantings of a liberal wine aunt who is sitting on the Supreme Court.
Who, yeah, by the way, like maybe she's very nice.
I believe that she and Clarence Thomas and some of the other justices actually have a pretty good relationship.
But it's just, this is like her posting on Facebook and that's how people should read this.
Yeah, it's like when you're going to Christmas And you know that aunt's gonna be a total pain in the ass and fight with you the entire time and so you have to chug a bunch of alcohol before you get to the Christmas party so you can tolerate that aunt.
You still love her but you wish that she would just shut up from time to time and that's justice.
Sonia Sotomayor.
Look, she's personally a great person, but she's just wrong here and she's dumb.
She's just stupidly wrong on this case.
And this is so much bigger than Donald Trump.
This is about the presidency.
If you let A president of the United States imprisoned his predecessor for what that predecessor did in his official capacity as the president of the United States.
You're going to destroy our country.
You're going to turn America into a third world Marxist hellhole.
And maybe that's what a lot of these Democrats want, is the destruction of the presidency.
So therefore, you'll get the destruction of the country.
Again, this should have been 9-0.
If this were President Obama's case or President Biden's case, it would have been nine to nothing, but you have three left-wing hacks on the Supreme Court who are angry and bitter because they're gonna be in a permanent minority for 95% of the cases for the rest of their life.

And I would say this, and I would say this to the Democrats, you have guaranteed with this lawfare and election interference that President Trump is gonna get Re-elected, and he's probably, likely, going to replace Sonia Sotomayor on the Supreme Court.
So thank you very much for your service to this country with this boneheaded, Republic-ending lawfare and election interference that has backfired and backfired spectacularly.

Totally shift gears here for a second.
Your friend of mine, Stephen K. Bannon, walking into federal prison right now, head held high, head held high like the warrior, like the Irish warrior he is, bowing his head.
The only time he put his head down was to receive a traditional Latin blessing.
The only time Steve Bannon put his head down was for the traditional Latin blessing from the church, from the priest that they had on hand.
And watching him go in there, Let me ask you this.
So we know that the emergency injunction for Steve Bannon's imprisonment was denied.
He does still have his appeal that goes up on executive privilege grounds.
Is there any chance that that could come up during the four months that he's in and he might be out earlier?
I doubt it.
And I would say this to the courts.
You have really dropped the ball on this one because this is so much bigger than Steve Bannon.
You have two former top presidential advisors sitting in prison right now.
Peter Navarro, who was the White House trade director, and Steve Bannon, who was one of President Trump's top outside presidential advisors, are in prison right now for objecting to a congressional subpoena on constitutional executive are in prison right now for objecting to a congressional subpoena on constitutional executive privilege grounds, constitutional executive privilege that has gone back 250

courts, and so the Supreme Court should have stepped in for both Peter DeVaro and Steve Bannon, because guess what?

I would think that the Chief Justice and Justice Kavanaugh would understand that after Especially after they just issued that great presidential immunity ruling.
And remember that this is going to come back and bite the Democrats in the ass because remember there was Hunter Biden who did his drive-by press conference in front of Congress and was, you know, contempt of Congress and not a damn thing happens for Merrick Garland.
And Merrick Garland is held in contempt of Congress after he released the transcript of special counsel Robert Herr's interview of President Biden, but Garland refused to release the tape.
We found out why at the debate, because Biden is such a disaster and they didn't want it to get out.
Garland raised a frivolous claim of executive privilege.
He released the transcript, so we can't claim that the tape is somehow covered after he released the transcript.
He had his Justice Department—Garland had his Justice Department get him a get-out-of-jail-free card.
I guarantee you that that card's not going to be valid come January 20, 2025, when the Trump 47 Justice Department arrests him and charges him with contempt of Congress along with Hunter Biden.
Hunter Biden has no claim of constitutional executive privilege, but the Attorney General might But guess what?
He's going to face severe legal, political, and financial consequences after January 20th.
And part of that is Merrick Garland must be held accountable for his contempt.
They must bring criminal charges.
In the meantime, the House Republicans must hold Garland in inheritance, contempt of Congress, order the House sergeant at arms to go get him and put him in the Capitol jail cell until Merrick Garland complies with the subpoena by turning over that tape of Rob Hurd with President Biden. order the House sergeant at arms to go get him Nobody's above the law, Merrick Garland says, and all these Democrats say, and we know that's not true under the Biden Justice Department.

His adult daughter, Laura Marchand, was raising millions of dollars off of this unprecedented criminal trial over which he presided.
That requires Judge Marchand's recusal under New York statute.
That's not just crazy Mike Davis saying that.
A former Clinton judge, federal judge from New York, said that on Caitlin Collins' show on CNN on April 5th when Trump raised this evidence that Mershon needed to recuse.
How did he respond?
Judge Mershon threatened to throw Trump in jail if Trump mentioned Lauren Mershon's name.
This guy is corrupt.
This guy is partisan.
There's no question he's going to order Trump to incarceration.
And President Trump will file a habeas petition, I presume, a 2241 habeas petition in the federal courts.
He'll also file, I presume, an emergency petition through the New York courts.
But I would say this, that there's no way in hell that this Supreme Court of the United States is going to let Uh, this Soros-funded Manhattan D.A., Alvin Bragg, this former Obama and Biden- It's completely insane.
