Time Text
Hello everybody, welcome to the show.
First and foremost, I am dedicating this episode to my dear friend, Spartacus' ghost, on Twitter.
I hope you and your loved ones are having a great holiday thus far, and I hope you are safe out at sea.
I do want to say, sorry for my voice, it's late, people are trying to sleep, and I need to record this, so I'm in my little studio, and uh, yeah, so I do apologize.
Now, quick news breakdown.
Not going to get into this, just a quick one here.
Trump is a pedo and guilty as all hell.
Kyle Rittenhouse is a piece of shit, and Elon Musk is not your friend.
Okay, with that out of the way, let's jump into this.
Story one.
Covina Massacre What came to be known as the Covina Massacre took place on December 24th, 2008, in Covina, a city located in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California, United States.
Satan's asshole.
Nine individuals lost their lives due to either gunshot wounds or an arson fire that erupted inside a home where a Christmas Eve celebration was underway.
The assailant, 45-year-old Bruce Jeffrey Pardo, was dressed in a Santa suit and entered the house.
Later, he took his own life with a gunshot to the head at his brother's home in the early hours following the attack.
Authorities have pointed to marital issues as a potential motive for the horrific act, and reports suggest that Pardo's divorce was finalized on December 18th, just one week before the tragedy.
At around 11:30 p.m., Bruce Jeffrey Pardo, clad in a Santa Claus outfit, knocked on the door of his ex-in-law's residence, which was filled with approximately 25 guests.
He held a gift-wrapped package, which contained a homemade flamethrower, in one hand and a semi-automatic handgun in the other.
Additionally, he had three more semi-automatic handguns on his person.
When the door was opened, Pardo shot at an eight-year-old girl who was running to greet him, injuring her in the face.
He then began firing indiscriminately at the partygoers who were trying to escape.
Authorities believe that Pardo may have deliberately executed some of the victims while standing over them using the other handguns.
Following the shootings, Pardo unwrapped the package that held the homemade flamethrower and used it to spray racine fuel gasoline and ignited the house.
As a result, nine individuals lost their lives due to either gunfire or the ensuing flames, while three others sustained injuries.
The 8-year-old girl who was shot in the face suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
A 16-year-old girl was shot in the back and a 20-year-old woman broke her ankle while jumping out of a second floor window.
One individual, an ex-sister-in-law, Letitia, and her eight-year-old daughter, managed to survive and contacted the authorities during the assault after making it to a neighbor's residence.
The fire that ensued reached heights of about 40 to 50 feet and required 80 firefighters about an hour and a half to bring under control.
Because of the fire severity, victim identification was carried out using dental and medical records.
Following the attack, Pardo changed into his civilian clothes and drove his rental Dodge Caliber to his brother's home in Silmar, which is approximately 30 miles from the scene of the crime.
He was later discovered dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Initially, it was thought that Pardo planned to escape to Canada by air as he had purchased a ticket for an Air Canada flight.
However, it was later revealed that the flight was actually from Los Angeles to Moline, Illinois with a stopover in Minnesota.
Nevertheless, after enduring severe third-degree burns on his arms caused by the fire, as he sort of lit himself on fire, he chose to deviate from his original plan.
Authorities discovered $17,000 in cash wrapped in cling film on his legs, secured by a girdle, along with his rental vehicle parked just a block away from his brother's residence.
The car had actually been rigged to ignite and explode with black powder if tampered with, which it later did.
Additionally, four empty handguns, each with a 13-round capacity, were found at the scene, along with a minimum of 200 rounds of ammunition.
At Pardo's home in Montrose, police retrieved five empty boxes meant for semi-automatic handguns, two shotguns, and a container for high-octane gasoline.
At least three victims' deaths were caused by gunshot wounds alone, while four others died from a combination of both gunshot wounds and fire.
Two other deaths stemmed from the fire alone.
The victims included Silvia Ortega Pardo, which was his ex-wife, she was 43 years old, Alicia Ortega, who was 70, was Silvia Pardo's mother, Joseph Ortega, 80, Sylvia Pardo's father, Charles Ortega, 49, Silvia Pardo's brother, Cherry Ortega, 45, Charles Ortega's wife, James Ortega, 51, Silvia Pardo's brother,
Teresa Ortega, 52, was James Ortega's wife, Alicia Ortega Ortiz, 46, was Silvia Pardo's sister, and Michael Ortiz, 17, was Alicia Ortiz's son.
Authorities believe that the motive behind the attack was linked to marital issues.
Pardo's wife, who had been married to him for a year, filed for divorce just the week before.
Despite this, Pardo had no criminal history and no record of violent behavior.
He lost his job as an electrical engineer at ITT Electronic Systems Radar Systems in July.
There are rumors suggesting that the divorce might have stemmed from Pardo hiding a child from a previous relationship, a child who had suffered serious injuries in a swimming pool accident years earlier.
The couple got married in January of 2006, but they quickly drifted apart after their wedding.
Mr. Pardo was unwilling to open a joint bank account with Ms. Pardo and expected her to manage her own finances for her own three children.
In June 2008, the divorce court mandated that Bruce Pardo pay $1,785 monthly in spousal support.
During the divorce proceedings, Bruce confided to a friend that his wife was, quote, taking him to the cleaners, end quote.
In July, He was terminated for submitting false billing hours and the court halted the spousal payments due to his job loss.
It was later disclosed that he had intentions to kill his own mother following the massacre at Sylvia's residence, motivated by her perceived support for Sylvia during the divorce.
According to court documents, Pardo was obligated to pay Sylvia $10,000 as part of their divorce settlement.
Sylvia retained the wedding ring and the family dog.
In a court statement, Pardo expressed grievances about Sylvia living with her parents without paying rent and spending extravagantly on a luxury vehicle, gambling trips to Las Vegas, fine dining, massages, and golf lessons.
And as if it weren't bad enough, the landlord, Broadcrest Foothill Apartments Homes, requested a payment of $2,821.23.
An itemized invoice dated January 29th was sent to the survivors and stated that they owed $1,655 to the apartment complex located on North Central Avenue due to, quote, insufficient notice to vacate, end quote.
Additionally, the company charged Ortiz for 12 days of rent and other fees that accumulated in January, weeks after the murders.
Candice Wardlow, who introduced herself as the business manager for the property, declined to provide any comments.
Ultimately, donations from as far away as Switzerland were gathered and the matter with the landlord was resolved.
How fucking low is that?
That is some low shit.
Like, oh, your entire family was just murdered.
Well, you owe us the money.
Pay up.
Fucking ridiculous.
Story 2.
Dallas Christmas Killings In Grapevine, famously dubbed the Christmas capital of Texas, the joyous atmosphere of Christmas morning in 2011 was tragically disrupted by a shocking murder-suicide executed by a man dressed in a Santa Claus outfit.
Upon the police's arrival at the residence where the tragic events unfolded, they discovered seven lifeless bodies scattered among the remnants of gift wrapping paper.
Aziz Yazdanapana, a 56-year-old man originally from Iran, took the lives of his estranged wife, their two teenage children, his wife's sister, his brother-in-law, and his niece during the family's Christmas celebration.
As Aziz made his entrance into the home, his niece sent a text to her boyfriend expressing her discomfort with his presence.
Quote, we just got here and my uncle is here too, dressed as Santa.
Now he wants to be all fatherly and win father of the year, end quote, she wrote.
And just 20 minutes later, she and her family fell victim to gunfire.
Clad in a red and white Santa suit, Aziz called 911 to report the horrific murders before ultimately taking his own life.
But three minutes after the call, police arrived at the scene to uncover a heartbreaking tragedy.
Aziz had fatally shot his estranged wife, Fatima Ramadi, 55, along with their 14-year-old son, Ali, and their 19-year-old daughter, Nona.
He also took the lives of his wife's sister, Zoray Ramadi, 58, her husband, Mohammed Hossein Zarai, 59, and their 22-year-old daughter, Sarah.
The victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head, chest, and stomach.
Two handguns were recovered from the scene.
A family friend informed local news that Aziz was reportedly told he was not welcome at the gathering, which may have triggered his violent outburst, as reported by The Independent.
A recording of the 911 call made by Aziz captured the chilling last words of the killer who admitted to the dispatcher that he was shooting people.
In the call, he is heard saying, help, twice, and then, I am shooting people, followed by heavy breathing before the line went dead and he shot himself.
Grapevine 9-1-1, where is your emergency?
Hello, Grapevine 9-1-1?
You need help?
Are you sick?
What was that?
Do you need an ambulance or police?
One moment.
I'll just put heavy breathing on the phone.
I need to stop the talking before please.
But before he killed himself, he tried to stage the scene by placing one of the two handguns that he used in the hand of his dead brother-in-law.
Aziz's struggles with marriage and finances drove him to commit the unthinkable act of killing his family, yet the precise reasoning behind his actions may forever remain a mystery.
In August of 2010, the couple jointly filed for bankruptcy.
As their financial situation worsened, Aziz's wife took on jobs at two different spas to support their children.
By April 2011, she had moved out of their home and into an apartment just two miles away.
Meanwhile, Aziz stayed behind, continuing to face financial hardships.
This horrific massacre is recorded as the deadliest crime in Grapevine's history.
Story 3.
Lawson Family Massacre On December 25th, 1929, sharecropper Charles Davis, known as Charlie Lawson, took the lives of his wife and six of their seven children in Germantin, North Carolina.
The tragic familicide has sparked considerable speculation regarding its motive, with the most frequently mentioned theories suggesting an effort to conceal incestuous abuse.
In 1911, Charles Lawson married Fanny Manring, and together they had eight children.
Their third child, William, who was born in 1914, tragically passed away from an illness in 1920.
In 1918, after his younger brothers Marion and Elijah relocated to the Germantin area, Lawson moved there with his family as well.
The Lawsons were tenant tobacco farmers, and by 1927, they had managed to save enough money to buy their own farm on Brook Cove Road.
In 1929, just days before Christmas, Lawson, who was 43 at the time, took his wife Fanny, aged 37, along with their seven children, Arthur, 16, Mary, 17, Carrie, 12, Maybell, 7, James, 4, Raymond, 2, and Mary Lou, who was just 4 months old, into town to purchase new clothes and have a family portrait taken.
It was just days before.
This was likely an unusual event for a working-class rural family during that period, leading to speculation that Lawson's actions were premeditated.
However, considering that he had bought his own farm two years earlier, along with an associated press report that labeled him a well-to-do farmer the day after the murders, his pre-Christmas shopping trip could be seen as quite reasonable.
It was later speculated that he had impregnated his daughter, Mary, who was 17.
On the afternoon of December 25th, Lawson initially shot his daughters Carrie and Maybell, Carrie was 12 and Maybell as they were heading to their uncle and aunt's residence.
He waited for them by the tobacco barn until they were within range, fired at them with a 12-gauge shotgun, and then confirmed their deaths by bludgeoning them.
He concealed their bodies in the tobacco barn.
After that, Lawson went back to the house and shot Fanny, who was sitting on the porch.
The moment the gun went off, Mary, who was inside, let out a scream, while the two young boys, James and Raymond, tried to find a place to hide.
Lawson then shot Mary and subsequently located and killed the two boys.
Finally, he took the life of the baby, Mary Lou.
It is believed that she was bludgeoned to death.
Following the murders, he ventured into the nearby woods and several hours later shot himself.
Several hours, man, just imagine that.
Several hours after doing this, you're just like, oh, fuck.
And then you shoot yourself.
God, just unthinkable.
The only survivor was his eldest son, 19-year-old Arthur, whom he had sent on an errand just prior to the horrific events.
Wonder where that would be.
The family members were discovered with their arms crossed and stones placed beneath their heads.
The gunshot that marked Lawson's suicide was heard by numerous individuals who had already been informed of the murders on the property and had gathered there.
A police officer accompanying Arthur rushed down to find Lawson's body along with letters addressed to his parents.
Footprints surrounding the tree suggested that he had been walking around it before taking his life.
Shit, so he's just walking in circles around this tree for several hours, then finally did it.
Months prior to this tragic event, Lawson had suffered a head injury.
Some family and friends speculated that it may have changed his mental state and could be linked to the massacre.
Nevertheless, an autopsy and brain analysis conducted at Johns Hopkins Hospital revealed no abnormalities.
Again, this is back in 1929.
Medical stuff back then was not quite where it is today.
Not even close.
So who knows?
He could have had many abnormalities.
Story 4.
The Carnation Murders The Carnation murders were a tragic mass killing that took place on December 24th, 2007, in the small rural town of Carnation, Washington, located 25 miles or 40 kilometers east of Seattle.
The incident occurred within the residence of Wayne Scott Anderson and Judy Anderson, resulting in the deaths of six individuals from three generations of the Anderson family.
As per the testimony, Joseph Thomas McEnroe and Michelle Kristen Anderson prepared themselves with weapons and drove their pickup truck to the home of her parents, Wayne and Judy Anderson, on the afternoon of December 24th.
Once they entered, McEnroe diverted Judy Anderson's attention, who was busy wrapping Christmas presents, while Michelle tried to shoot her father.
As it would be, Michelle's gun malfunctioned, which prompted McEnroe to kill Wayne and subsequently Judy Anderson.
The duo then dragged the bodies outside, meticulously cleaned the house, and awaited the arrival of Michelle Anderson's older brother, Scott, and his wife, Erica, both aged 32, along with their two young children.
When the family finally arrived, Michelle Anderson shot her brother multiple times, resulting in his death.
McEnroe and Anderson then turned their guns on Erica Anderson.
Despite being injured, she managed to reach the cordless phone and dialed 911.
However, the call only lasted a few seconds, and the dispatches heard what they interpreted as a party argument.
McEnroe seized the phone from her, removed the batteries from the receiver, and smashed it against the floor.
He then delivered the lethal shot to Erica and proceeded to shoot and kill the children, five-year-old Olivia and three-year-old Nathan, at Anderson's insistence, as they feared the children would be traumatized for life after witnessing their parents' murder.
How nice.
All six victims were shot in the head.
The pair had fired a total of 16 shots combined.
Police were dispatched to the location following the 911 call, but the property gate was locked, leading the officers to decide against further investigation.
Yeah, that's right.
Unreal.
The gate had been locked by Michelle Anderson after she realized Erica's call had gone through.
The remains were found two days later, on December 26th, when Judy's close friend and colleague, Linda Thiel, visited the house to check on her after being absent from work.
Peering through the window, she spotted bodies lying on the floor, prompting her to call 911.
Initially, she believed she was witnessing the bodies of Wayne and Judy, but they were actually Scott and Erica's remains.
While detectives from King County were investigating the scene following Thiel's emergency call, McEnroe and Michelle Anderson arrived and were taken in for questioning.
Ultimately, both confessed to the murders and were taken into custody.
Prosecutors informed the jurors that the motive behind the killings was financial gain.
Anderson claimed that her brother owed her money and that she felt wronged and mistreated by her parents and brother.
In January of 2014, McEnroe admitted to the murders in a bid to escape execution.
On December 19th, 2014, a jury of 16 members was assembled to examine the case against him.
On March 25th, 2015, the jury declared Joseph McEnroe guilty of aggravated first-degree murder on all six charges.
Following this, on May 13th, 2015, Joseph McEnroe, who experienced multiple severe outbursts during the trial, received a life sentence and evaded the death penalty, largely due to a statewide moratorium on capital punishment instituted by then-Governor Jay Inslee.
Subsequently, on March 4th, 2016, Michelle Anderson was convicted of six counts of aggravated first-degree murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment in April of 2016.
Currently, Macron is incarcerated at the Washington State Penitentiary, while Anderson is held at the Washington Correction Center for Women.
Story 5 LAPD Christmas Corruption On Christmas Eve in 1951, LAPD officers Julius Trojanowski and Nelson Brownson responded to a call about underage drinking at the Showboat Bar located on Riverside Drive.
Upon their arrival, they discovered seven men inside.
Daniel Rodella, Elias Rodella, Jack Wilson, William Wilson, Raymond Marquez, Manuel Hernandez, and Eddie Nora.
Despite having identification that confirmed their illegal drinking age, the officers ordered them to leave.
When the men refused, the officers resorted to violence, which escalated into a brawl in the parking lot.
Both officers sustained injuries, and one ended up with a black eye, God forbid, while the other had a cut that needed stitches.
Seven hours after the altercation, LAPD officers apprehended all of the men at their residences.
Six of them were taken directly to Lincoln Heights Jail.
The seventh, Daniel Rodella, was forcibly dragged to a squad car by his hair and transported to Elysian Park, where he was brutally beaten by several police officers.
Rodella sustained multiple fractures to his face and required two blood transfusions due to the severity of his injuries.
On Christmas morning, a significant number of police officers at a departmental Christmas party were indulging in some booze, breaching the LAPD's regulations regarding drinking.
Upon hearing a rumor that Trojanowski had lost an eye during the altercation at the Shobo Bar, the inebriated officers resolved to take revenge.
These six inmates were removed from their cells in the Central City Jail and assembled in a line.
Up to 50 different police officers took part in a brutal assault that continued for 95 minutes, over an hour and a half.
Every prisoner sustained severe injuries, including punctured organs and fractured facial bones.
At least 100 individuals were aware of or witnessed the assault.
For nearly three months, senior management of the LAPD managed to keep the assault on the prisoners out of the public eye.
In March 1952, six out of the seven men faced charges of battery and disturbing the peace.
The prosecution contended that the altercation began when officers requested Jack Wilson to leave the bar quietly.
The defendants claimed that the conflict erupted when Officer Trojanowski struck Wilson on the head with a blackjack.
Judge Joseph L. Call permitted them to recount how they were brutally beaten following their arrest.
The jury, however, convicted the defendants on two counts of battery and one count of disturbing the peace.
After the verdict was announced, Judge Call criticized the police for the brutality and called for an independent investigation into the assault.
At least this judge was like, something's off here.
Yeah, let's do an independent investigation.
And ultimately, the LAPD compiled a 204-page internal report.
And despite including interviews with over 400 witnesses, many LAPD members attempted to obstruct the investigation through perjury or vague statements.
The report was also inconsistent, revealing that several police officers observed the beatings, yet concluded that, quote, none of the prisoners were physically abused in the manner alleged.
End quote.
This report would go on to prompt grand jury hearings against the LAPD, resulting in eight officers being indicted for the assault.
The eight indicted officers faced a trial from July to November 1952.
Five were found guilty, but only one received a prison sentence exceeding a year.
Additionally, 54 officers were reassigned, and 39 were temporarily suspended without pay.
Man, it's just unreal, like the history of the LAPD.
It's so bad.
Like, it's probably the worst in the entire country.
The worst.
They've done so much corrupt shit.
It's unreal how they're even a police squad.
It's like, fuck, man.
They have gangs, literal police gangs that go out and just fuck with people.
Rob drug dealers, kill drug dealers, set people up.
Like they do everything under the sun that's illegal.
And we're supposed to respect them.
It's laughable.
Fucking laughable.
And so that's going to be a quick five-story episode for you guys.
